Replacing planing knives in the drum

To replace and install knives you need:

Adjusting the planing knives in the drum

Adjustment of the knives is ensured by sequential alignment of each knife.

To position the knife you must:

• release the knife 46 by unscrewing the four special bolts 41 until it moves freely;
• place the ruler on the plane of the table 49 at a distance of 20÷30 mm from the ends of the drum;
• align the knife relative to the table so that the cutting edge of the knife coincides with the plane of the table, i.e. the cutting edge of the knife should lightly touch the bottom edge of the ruler;
• secure the knife by tightening special bolts 41.
• After the final tightening of bolts 41, check again with a ruler that the knife is aligned correctly (if necessary, repeat the knife alignment).

Correctly aligned knives, when turning the knife drum, should have the cutting edge lightly (up to 0.1 mm) touch the bottom edge of the ruler.

When installing new knives, replacing their fastening parts (wedges or bolts), as well as after sharpening knives, the difference in the total mass of a set of knives with their fastening parts intended for installation in each of the grooves of the knife block should not exceed 1 g.

The difference in total mass is adjusted by removing metal from the ends of the knife or wedge.
