Prayer to the Holy Trinity, creation of Mark the monk

“The Almighty and Life-Giving Holy Trinity and the Beginning of Light, all creation, that which is in this world and above the world, by one goodness brought forth from non-existence and provides for it, and preserves it, and, in addition to Your other ineffable benefits to the earthly race, repentance until who gave us death for the sake of the weakness of the flesh! Do not leave us, unfortunate ones, to die in our evil deeds, and let us not be a laughing stock to the leader of evil, and the envious, and the destroyer; for You see, O Merciful One, how strong are his intrigues and enmity against us, and what is our passion, and weakness, and negligence. But perform Your unfailing good deeds on us, we pray, who anger You every day and hour by violating Your sacred and life-giving commandments. So, all our sins, in all our past life and until this hour, in deeds, or words, or thoughts, let go and forgive. Make us worthy to finish the rest of our lives in repentance, contrition, and observance Thy saints commands. If we, seduced by pleasures, have sinned in many ways, or spent time tempted by vile desires, useless and harmful; if, driven by anger and unreasonable rage, they insulted any of our brothers, or because of our tongue they were entangled in inevitable, wrong and strong nets; if any of our feelings, or all of them, voluntarily or involuntarily, in knowledge or ignorance, in infatuation or deliberately stumbled madly; if the conscience has been defiled by evil and vain thoughts; or if we have sinned in any other way, forced by an inclination and habit of evil, forgive us and forgive us everything, O All-Bounteous, Most-Good and Much-Merciful, and grant us for the future courage and strength to do Your will, good, and pleasing, and perfect, so that we, the unworthy, may appear purified from the nightly and gloomy evil with light-like repentance and, as we act well during the day, appear purified to Your love for mankind, praising You and magnifying You forever. Amen."

Oh, All-Good Lord, I know that my great happiness depends on the fact that I love You with all my soul and with all my heart, and that I fulfill Your holy will in everything. Rule Yourself, O my God, over my soul and fill my heart: I want to please You Alone, for You are the Creator and my God. Save me from pride and self-love: let reason, modesty and chastity adorn me. Idleness is disgusting to You and gives rise to vices, give me the desire to work hard and bless my labors. Since Your Law commands people to live in an honest marriage, then lead me, Holy Father, to this title, sanctified by You, not to please my lust, but to fulfill Your destiny, for You Yourself said: it is not good for man to be alone and, having created He gave him a wife to help him, blessed them to grow, multiply and populate the earth. Hear my humble prayer, sent to You from the depths of a girl’s heart; give me an honest and pious spouse, so that in love with him and in harmony we glorify You, the merciful God: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Give us the spirit of love and patience, the spirit of meekness and humility, the spirit of purity and truth,
Yes, having corrected our weakened hearts and knees, we unlaxly flow along the path of the commandments of the saints, and so,

The Almighty and Life-giving Holy Trinity, and the Light-originating one, who brought, and provided, and supported, every other worldly creature for one goodness from those who do not exist, like your other unspeakable blessings on the earthly race, and granted repentance to us for the sake of carnal infirmity until death! Do not leave us, the accursed, to die in our evil deeds, to be a laughing stock below the evildoer and the envious and the destroyer. See, O Merciful One, how much there is slander and enmity against us, as well as our passion, weakness, and negligence. But inexhaustible

If you have been deceived by sweetness, having sinned in manifold ways, or by vile lusts, unhelpful and harmful, having been deceived by the sender; even though he was moved by wordless anger and rage, who has insulted our brother; We pledge ourselves in the language of inevitable and obstinate and strong networks; if our feelings and all, willy-nilly or unwillingly, knowingly or unknowingly, from admiration or teaching we crawl madly; if evil thoughts and vain defile the conscience; If we have sinned in any other way, greatly tormented by enterprise and custom, forgive us and forgive us all, O All-Bountiful, Most Blessed and Much-Merciful, and grant us other courage and strength to do Your will, good and pleasing and perfect, and nightly and dark evil will be diminished by light-like repentance, and as in the days of walking gracefully and purified, we will show ourselves unworthy of Thy love for mankind, praising Thee and magnifying Him forever. Amen.

Trinity Day is celebrated on the fiftieth day after Easter, which is why this holiday is also called Pentecost.

Just as Easter replaced the ancient Jewish holiday, so Pentecost laid the foundation of the Church of Christ as union in the Spirit on earth.

After the Resurrection of the Lord, His disciples constantly lived with the feeling of celebration. Saying goodbye to them for the time being, He promised to send them the Comforter - the Holy Spirit emanating from God the Father. The disciples did not know what this meant, but they believed that everything would be according to the word of the Lord.

Like fire in a hearth, they maintained the blessed state of that day in their souls, gathering every day in one house on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. In a secluded upper room they prayed and read the Holy Scriptures. This is how another ancient prophecy came true: "Out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord out of Jerusalem."
This is how it arose the first Christian temple.
Near that house was the house of Christ’s beloved disciple, the Apostle John the Theologian; according to the will of the Lord, His Mother, the Virgin Mary, also lived there. Disciples gathered around Her; She was a consolation for all believers.

On the tenth day after the Ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ, on the day of the Jewish holiday of the first harvest (), when the disciples and the Virgin Mary were with them in the Zion Upper Room, at the third hour of the day a strong noise was heard in the air, as if during a storm.
Bright, flickering tongues of fire appeared in the air. It was not a material fire - it was of the same nature as the Holy Fire, which descends annually in Jerusalem on Easter; it shone without burning.
Rushing over the heads of the apostles, tongues of fire descended on them and laid them to rest. Immediately, along with the external manifestation, the internal one took place, taking place in the souls: “all were filled with the Holy Spirit.”
- Both the Mother of God and the apostles felt at that moment an extraordinary power acting in them. Simply and directly, they were given from above a new grace-filled gift of the verb - they spoke in languages that they did not know before. This was the gift needed to preach the Gospel throughout the world.
Generously gifted by the One Spirit, feeling that this was only part of the spiritual gifts they received from the Lord, they held each other’s hands, forming a new shining bright Church, where God Himself is invisibly present.

In memory of this event, the Feast of Pentecost is also called the day of the descent of the Holy Spirit, as well as the day of the Holy Trinity: in the manifestation of the Holy Spirit, who came from God the Father according to the promise of God the Son, the mystery of the unity of the Holy Trinity was revealed.

Prayers to the Most Holy and Life-Giving Trinity

Prayer to the Holy Trinity

“Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us;
Lord, cleanse our sins;
Master, forgive our iniquities;
Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy name's sake.

Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy.
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.”

This prayer is one of petition. In it we address first all three Persons of the Trinity together, and then each Person separately:
to God the Father so that He may cleanse our sins;
to God the Son, so that He may forgive our iniquities;
to God the Holy Spirit, so that He would visit and heal our illnesses.
The words “for Thy name’s sake” refer to all three Persons of the Most Holy Trinity together, and since God is one, He has one name, and therefore we say “Thy name,” and not “Thy names.”

Prayer to God the Father

“Almighty Master, all-wise and all-good Lord,
of the luminous Son, the Pre-Eternal Parent,
and Your life-giving Spirit, eternal and ever-present to the Self-Generator,
His majesty is innumerable, his glory unspeakable, and his mercy immeasurable,
We thank You, for You called us from non-existence and You honored us with Your precious image,
for Thou hast granted to us, unworthy, not only to know and love Thee,
but it is the sweetest thing to eat, and to call Thee my Father.

We thank You, God of mercy and bounty, for those who have transgressed Your commandment
You have not left us in the midst of sin and the shadow of death,
but Thou didst delight in Thy only begotten Son, in Whom the eyelids were created,
send to our land for salvation,
Yes, through His incarnation and the terrible suffering of the torment of the devil
and mortal aphids will be free.

We thank Thee, God of love and strength, for after the ascension into heaven of our dearest Savior,
Having been begged by His Cross, You sent down Your Most Holy Spirit
to His chosen disciples and apostles,
yes, by the power of their inspired preaching,
will illuminate the whole world with the imperishable light of the Gospel of Christ.

Yourself, O Humane-loving Master, hear now the humble prayer of Your unworthy children,
Yes, just as You created us for Your goodness alone,
Thou hast redeemed us for Thy compassion alone,
Thus also save us according to Thy one unconditional mercy:
from our deeds below the trace of salvation imams,
but the hope of righteous vengeance and separation from Thy bright face:
If even one idle verb will be exacted on the day of Judgment and testing,
about our countless iniquities, even those who have sinned before You,
cue, poor, imams give an answer;

For this reason, we have greatly despaired of justification from our deeds,
To Thy One, all mind and every word surpassing, let us resort to goodness,
South, as if we have a solid foundation of hope, we pray to Thee:

Cleanse those who have sinned, O Lord!
Lawless people, forgive me, Master!
With anger You, be reconciled, Long-suffering!
And save our other mind, conscience and heart from worldly defilements,
deliver and save us from the multi-rebellious storm of passions and falls,
free and involuntary, known and unknown,
and lead into a quiet haven of faith, love and the hope of eternal life.

Remember us in Your mercy, Lord,
Grant us all the petitions that lead to salvation, and especially a pure and sinless life;
make us worthy to love You and fear You with all our hearts,
and do Your holy will in everything,
through the prayers of our Most Pure Lady Theotokos and all Your saints,
for You are a Good and Lover of Mankind God,
and to You we send glory and thanksgiving and worship,
with Your Only Begotten Son, and with Your Most Holy and Good and Life-Giving Spirit,
now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen".

Prayer to God the Son

"The only begotten Son and Word of God,
who deigned to become incarnate and endure death for the sake of our salvation,
now, and with Your Most Pure Flesh, in heaven on the Throne
sit with the Father and rule the whole world,
do not forget by Your mercy us, who exist below
and tempted by many misfortunes and sorrows,
who are even very unclean and unworthy of Esma,
but in You, our Savior and Lord, we believe
and there is no other Intercessor or hope of salvation.

Wait, O all-merciful Redeemer, let us remember,
How much torment of Your soul and Body is required,
to satisfy the eternal righteousness of Thy Father for our sins,
and how You even descended from the Cross to hell with Your most pure soul,
May the power and torment of hell free us:
Remembering this, let us be careful from passions and sins, which were the cause of Your fierce suffering and death,
and let us love truth and virtue, which is most pleasant for You to have in us.

As if you are experienced in all sorts of things, weigh yourself, O All-Merciful One,
since the weakness of our spirit and flesh is great,
but our enemy is strong and cunning, like a roaring lion who walks around, looking for someone to devour:
Do not forsake us with Your all-powerful help,
and be with us, keeping and covering,
instructing and strengthening, delighting and cheering our spirit.

We, throwing ourselves into the bosom of Thy love and mercy,
our whole belly, temporary and eternal,
We commit ourselves to you, our Master, Redeemer and Lord,
praying from the depths of my soul, yes, in the image of fate,
make us pass comfortably through the gloomy life of this earthly vale,
and reached Your God-red palace,
You have promised to prepare it for all who believe in Your name,
and to Your subsequent Divine feet. Amen".

Prayer to God the Holy Spirit

“To the Heavenly King, the all-merciful Comforter, the Soul of Truth,
come from the Father eternally and rest in the Son,
unenvious Source of Divine gifts,
dividing them as you please,
By it we too were unworthy to be sanctified and to be designated on the day of our baptism!

Look upon Your servant for prayer, come to us, dwell in us,
and cleanse our souls, that we may be prepared for the dwelling of the Most Holy Trinity.

She, O All-Good One, do not abhor our uncleanness and sinful wounds,
but heal me with Your all-healing anointing.

Enlighten our minds so that we can understand the vanity of the world
and even in the world, revive our conscience, so that it incessantly proclaims to us,
what should be created and what should be swept aside,
correct and renew your heart,
Let not the rest of the day and night exude evil thoughts and inappropriate desires,
tame the flesh and extinguish the flame of passions with Your dewy breath,
It is through this that the precious image of God is darkened in us.

Drive away the spirit of idleness, despondency, covetousness and idle talk,
give us the spirit of love
and patience,
spirit of meekness and humility,
spirit of purity and truth,
Yes, having straightened the weakened hearts and knees,
We unlaxly flow along the path of the holy commandments,
and so, avoiding all sin and fulfilling all righteousness,
Let us be worthy to achieve a peaceful and shameless death,
bring you into Heavenly Jerusalem and there worship You, together with the Father and the Son,
singing forever and ever: Holy Trinity, glory to Thee!”

Prayer to the Most Holy Trinity

“The Most Holy Trinity, consubstantial Power, the Wine of all good things,
that we will repay You for everything,
what you repaid us sinners and unworthy before,
tenderly born into the world,
for everything that you repay us every day,
and what you have prepared for all of us in the world to come!

More fittingly, for the amount of good deeds and generosity,
to thank You not just in words, but more than in deeds,
keeping and fulfilling Your commandments:
But we, we are aware of our passion and evil custom,
We are cast down into countless sins and iniquities from our youth.

For this reason, as unclean and defiled,
not just to appear before Your Trisagion without coldness,
but below Thy Most Holy Name speak unto us,
If only You Yourself had not deigned, for our joy, to announce,
as the pure and righteous are loving,
and sinners who repent are merciful and more kindly accepted.

Look down, O Divine Trinity, from the height of Your Holy Glory
on us, many sinners,
and accept our good will instead of good deeds;
and give us the spirit of true repentance, so that we may hate all sin,
We will live in purity and truth until the end of our days,
doing Your most holy will
and gloriously pure thoughts and good deeds
Your sweetest and most magnificent name.
Amen"

“Rising from sleep, I thank You, Holy Trinity,
because for the sake of Your goodness and long-suffering you were not angry with me,
lazy and sinful,
Below you destroyed me with my iniquities;
but you usually loved mankind and raised me up in hopelessness,
to exercise and glorify Your power.

And now enlighten my mental eyes,
open my mouth to learn Your words,
and understand Your commandments,
and do Your will,
and sing to Thee in heartfelt confession,
and sing Thy all-holy name, of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
and now, and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen".

Now in your arsenal there is a prayer to the Holy Trinity and more than one. Spend this holiday with the right mental attitude, and don’t forget to congratulate your loved ones on the Trinity!

Icons of the Holy Trinity

The church has many images of the Holy Trinity, very different in their iconography. But the icon that defines the very feast of the Holy Trinity is invariably one - this is the image of the Holy Trinity in the image of three Angels. Its prototype was the appearance of the Holy Trinity in the form of three travelers to Abraham and Sarah near the oak grove of Mamre.

The Church saw in the appearance of three Angels the appearance of the Most Holy One Life-Giving Trinity, complete and perfect. And this understanding became more and more strengthened over the centuries in the Church and was established in the depiction of the holiday.
This understanding was most fully and deeply expressed in the icon painted Rev. Andrew Rublev for the Trinity Cathedral of the Trinity-Sergius Monastery. Therefore, the Stoglavy Council approved this icon as an example of how the icon of the Holy Trinity should be painted.

The hypostases of the Holy Trinity on this icon follow in the order in which they are confessed in the Creed. The first Angel is the first hypostasis of God the Father, the second, middle one is the Son, and the right one is the hypostasis of the Holy Spirit.

All three Angels bless the cup in which the calf, slain and prepared for food, was brought. The slaughter of the calf marks the death of the Savior on the cross.

All three Angels hold staffs in their hands to commemorate their divine authority.

The first Angel, depicted on the left side of the icon, represents an image of the divine, heavenly nature. Behind him, above his head, rises a house, Abraham's dwelling, and an altar in front of the dwelling.

His head is almost not inclined, His body is also not inclined, His gaze is turned to the other two Angels. Everything, the features, the expression of the face, the placement of the hands, and the way He sits, everything speaks of His paternal dignity. The other two Angels bow their heads and turn their gaze to the first one in deep attention, as if conducting a conversation.

The second Angel is placed in the middle part of the icon. Its middle position is determined by the significance of the second hypostasis in the depths of the Holy Trinity and in God’s providential care for the world. An oak tree spreads its branches over His head. The tree that overshadows Him is a reminder of the tree of life, which was in the middle of paradise, and of the tree of the cross.

The angel placed on the right side of the icon is the third Person of the Holy Trinity - the hypostasis of the Holy Spirit. And perhaps the most unique, most precious feature of the icon of the Trinity in the image of three Angels is that the third Person of the Holy Trinity - the Holy Spirit - is depicted hypostatically equally with the first and second Persons of the Holy Trinity and has in His image the fullness of the angelic and human image.
In all other images, God the Holy Spirit is not expressed personally and does not have the fullness of the image. The image of a dove, which deigned to receive the Holy Spirit, gives us some idea, as if given in an allegory, of the properties of the Holy Spirit, but cannot be completely His icon for us.

The arrangement of the three Persons on the icon is closely connected and corresponds to the order that permeates every liturgical exclamation, every address and confession of the Holy Trinity, the order that is contained in the words of the Lord’s Prayer: “Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done »...

The angels in the Trinity icon are given human features, but this humanity should not be understood as something relating to the very nature of the Divine. The features of human dignity do not in any way indicate any kind of humanity hidden in the very being of God, in his incomprehensible essence.
The human image and the angelic image are taken to depict the Holy Trinity, not because there is something similar in the divine nature itself, but because such an image (from what is accessible to the imagination) is indicated to us in the very appearance of the three Angels to Abraham.
