How to attach a paper towel with your own hands. Bathroom towel holder. Outdoor clothes hanger in an unusual design

Important role in the arrangement of the bathroom is occupied by a holder for towels. It is convenient when the towel hangs next to the washbasin or bathtub, at arm's length. Today we offer to see three very simple master class how to make a towel holder with your own hands in the form of a rod or ring.

DIY wall-mounted towel holder in the form of a bar

  • metal or wooden beams;
  • old leather belts or strips of leather;
  • drill, dowels and screws.

⇒ Step 1. Prepare the crossbars. If you use wooden ones, then it makes sense to cover them with water-repellent impregnation or varnish; if metal ones, choose lightweight pipes stainless alloys. Take care that the edges of the rods are not sharp or serrated. Treat them with sandpaper or a file. You can also use some kind of plastic plugs or soft cases to the ends of the crossbar.

⇒ Step 2. Waste leather straps are a great option for holders. But instead, you can use strips of leather, thick tape or slings. Cut the belt into 4 parts. Fold one part in half and use an awl or drill to make a through hole closer to the ends. The holes may already be on the belt.

⇒ Step 3. Drill two holes in the wall. The distance between them should be 10-15 cm less than the length of the rod. Drive a dowel into the hole, then attach a folded piece of strap and screw it in with a screw.

⇒ Step 4. Insert the bar into the straps. The towel holder is ready to use! By the way, you can hang rolls of paper towels on this rod-shaped holder.

Wall mounted towel holder in the form of a ring

Required materials and tools:

  • metal ring;
  • old leather belt or strip of leather;
  • drill, dowels and screws.

⇒ Step 1. Cut a piece of belt or leather 10-15 cm long. Fold it in half and make a through hole closer to the ends with an awl or drill.

⇒ Step 2. Make a loop around the ring with your belt. If desired, you can use glue to prevent the ring from rotating in the loop.

⇒ Step 3. Drill a hole in the wall, drive in a dowel and screw on a leather loop with a ring.

Ceiling-mounted towel rail

A rather unusual holder design, reminiscent of a circus trapeze. If you use buckles similar to those used on the bag's shoulder straps, the height of the bar can be adjusted.

Required materials and tools:

  • metal or wooden crossbar;
  • 2 belts with a length of at least 1.5 m (2 slings, polypropylene or thick cotton tapes);
  • drill, dowels and screws;
  • ceiling mounts - hooks or rings.

⇒ Step 1. Make a loop at the end of each strap. If you don't plan to remove the bar from its loops to change paper towel rolls, you can wrap the strap tightly around the bar, sew and tape it, or use Velcro.

⇒ Step 2. Install using a drill, screws and dowels special fastenings into the ceiling. Make sure the straps are the same length and the distance between the fastenings is equal to the distance between the loops on the crossbar. Then the bar will hang straight, parallel to the floor. Make a loop on the straps and attach them to the anchors.

Not everyone needs this accessory: some people don’t mind moving a roll of paper towels from place to place, others already have a mount... but I wanted to hang the roll under the cabinet. A little graphomania about why I need this, a story about the holder itself with photographs and dimensions (for those who decide to make something like this themselves) under the cut.

Briefly: the review was written six months after ordering and using this thing. I am completely satisfied with the holder.
Warning: under the cut most of photos are not hidden under a spoiler.

A lot of water about why I need this and why

Rolled paper napkins are one of the things I personally need in the kitchen. Of course, you can use all kinds of rags, but somehow it’s easier for me to quickly get wet or wipe something with napkins - when I’m cooking or during a “flood”: if the child once again “accidentally” turns the glass over. In general, not in decorative purposes I have this roll of napkins. And for a long time he stood next to the stove.

I understand, it’s a habit: it will “suit” someone anyway, but for me, because small sizes work surface near the stove, it was a little annoying. And the nomadic life of a roll too... it’s like this: on the table in the morning, rolled onto the floor during the day, and at the sink in the evening. The most unpleasant thing is that it can roll onto the floor and the issue is not only inaccuracy, but also the small size of the work area and its cluttered with all sorts of necessary (and not so necessary) things.

As part of the fight against this, I somehow searched online stores for an analogue of what I bought, but I couldn’t find it in any of them. adequate money holder that I liked, would. The main requirements were: not plastic, on a tube with fixation on both sides (so that it couldn’t come off if something happened), with the ability to easily replace the roll and not with a rail. As a result of all these wishes, I came across options with a price tag higher than the psychological minimum (~$30). I didn’t look at the markets: these are not the times when there would be something there that is not in the store (but the opposite happens often).

In general, I paid attention to Chinese markets and quickly enough found an option on Ali first, but it seemed unreasonably expensive, and then (through an intermediary aggregator) I picked it up on tmall suitable option. Since the purchase was financed from the family budget, then this option was shown to the main critic [my wife], and only after approval did I order this holder.

Actually herself work zone strongly BEFORE installing the holder. On the left is the refrigerator, on the right is the sink.

In my opinion, it is pointless to write about delivery, since I used one of the well-known intermediaries and the cost of delivery (as well as time) was spread evenly between different positions. But the box with this accessory arrived at the supplier’s warehouse in about a couple of days.

And I got the holder packaged in a regular cardboard box without any identification marks on the sides, wrapped in one layer of polyrex. Such a box would hardly have withstood international delivery, but my intermediary additionally packed everything in a large box.

Accordingly, the holder itself lay inside along with a tube for a paper towel:

And also a set of dowels and small screws:

I didn’t take the dimensions from the screws, and now I can’t find them (I threw them in a box with other screws), but they had to go through the lower part of the kitchen cabinet, 16mm thick, with a margin, so I picked up more suitable screws from my supplies.

By the way, there is a drawing on the product page (perhaps for those who are too lazy to order and wait for delivery)))

And it is quite accurate, but unfortunately the Chinese couldn’t help but mess up here, but it’s not fatal. If the length and width of the fastening really correspond to 250 * 40 mm, and the thickness of the tube is 16 mm, then the eye with a groove for fastening paper is 20 mm longer: 101 mm instead of the 80 mm stated in the picture. The second size (the one 72mm) is generally a mystery to me. But if you decide to repeat this at your own metalworking facilities, then maybe this crooked photo of an iron (it’s more convenient to hold it with one hand than a camera) will help you :)

As for the thickness of the metal of the holder itself, it is 2mm, as indicated on the product page. In addition, it is also indicated that this holder is made of SUS 304 steel (And equipment for food factories and enterprises is made from it, among other things Catering). I can only say one thing: I checked it with a magnet - it doesn’t magnetize.

The main part of the holder is made of quite high quality: there are no metal burrs, the roundings are made without dangerous “corners”.

After six months of use, no critical wear was detected (this and the following photograph were taken specifically six months after the start of use):

The tube for the towel is hollow, with two plugs at the ends. They were installed tightly and could not be pulled out. This is not to say that they are processed perfectly, but they are quite normal and without metal burrs. However, it was the plugs that caused a slight criticism - in the photo you can see that one corner of them is sharp, in reality it is like a dull knife: it is difficult to cut yourself, but it is possible. However, during normal operation (when replacing paper towels), this never happened, and about a dozen towels were changed during all this time.

Just for fun, I weighed this pipe on a “folk” Chinese scale, it came out to about 84 grams

The main part of the holder weighs 213 grams.

I don’t see the point in describing the installation: it’s more difficult to choose a place that will suit everyone, and screwing a couple of screws into a kitchen cabinet is not so easy. a big problem. In general, I am attaching what happened and what happened as a result:

Was/became

It cannot be said that there was immediately a lot of space on the table, but later all the unnecessary bottles of oil were also removed, but into the table. This made me personally feel much more comfortable :)

However, naturally in the comments they pointed out minus: this holder does not have a “one-handed tear-off system”, however, I took it off, on which I tore off the towel on the first try. But this requires a sharp movement, so we’ll still write it down as a minus!

And the most important thing in any review: result. And as a result, half a year later, my missus responded about this holder that she completely liked it and she was still more comfortable with it personally than without it.

Well, I liked that another necessary thing now has a place where it hangs and doesn’t try to run off to the floor;)

Whether or not to buy this holder is up to you. If you are able to make a similar holder from a sheet of metal: honor and praise to you, but personally, it was easier for me to give $10 and wait (yes... I'm lazy)). But personally, I’m happy with the purchase, which is the most important thing for me.

I'm planning to buy +21 Add to favorites I liked the review +25 +34

Paper towels are always an indispensable item in the kitchen. I suggest making a towel holder with your own hands. Its design is very simple, and creation will take no more than two hours. At the same time, you will get a very durable holder, you will be sure of its durability, as well as the fact that it is environmentally friendly. And imagine how much better a wooden holder looks than a plastic one.

To create a paper towel holder we will need: leftovers wooden board 2 cm thick, thick steel wire, 10 screws, grinder, grinding attachment for grinder, drill.

1. Cut a rectangle from the board with dimensions 33 by 10 cm.

2. Cut out 2 rectangles 10 by 12 cm. Using a grinder, cut off one corner and make it rounded.

3. We put a sanding attachment on the grinder and grind the parts to perfect smoothness.
4. Take a piece of wire 36 cm long. We wrap one edge so that we get a hook.

5. Now we assemble all the elements of the holder. Using self-tapping screws, attach the sides to back wall.

6. Using a drill with a drill of a thickness equal to the thickness of the wire, we drill holes in the side walls.
7. In the back wall we drill three through holes approximately to the middle of the board thickness.
8. We thread the wire into the holes in the side walls.
9. We insert three self-tapping screws into the previously made holes and use a drill or screwdriver to screw them into the wall.
10. Here is our holder and ready. All that remains is to put on a roll of paper towels. To do this, take out the wire from one side, put on the roll and thread the wire through the side wall again.

A paper towel holder is most often mounted on the wall near the sink, but you can also find a place for it near the stove. It is very convenient to use, firstly, because the towel is always at hand, and secondly, because by tearing off one towel, you will never stain another.

Hello, dear readers! The bathroom is exactly the room where only necessary items should be present, which certainly includes towel holders.

What are the advantages of the holders in question? The fact is that this seemingly inconspicuous thing allows you to keep the room in order, keeps towels always at hand and strictly in a certain place!

Types of towel holders.

  1. Wall (mounted);
  2. Floor-standing;
  3. Tabletop.

Subtypes of towel holders.

  • Rings;
  • Half rings;
  • Crossbars;
  • Rectangular frames;
  • Shelves;
  • Hooks;
  • Hangers;
  • Horns.

Wall-mounted towel holders.

Classic holders include wall models, which are a chrome strip that is fixed to the wall surface on both sides. This type of holder is especially popular due to its compactness, so it is often used in small rooms. The obvious disadvantages of this model include, perhaps, only the fact that only one towel can be hung on such a bar. True, there is a way out, you can buy a quadruple, triple or double design, even if it takes up a little more space, but the family towels will each be in its place.

Slightly less in demand are wall shelves for towels, on which hand towels are usually folded, obviously rolled into compact rolls. Such shelves are made of both wood and metal. Metal models are coated with chrome-plated compounds, wooden ones are painted with moisture-resistant paints. Painted models look incredibly stylish and can easily become the central element of the entire bathroom.

A room in the style of hi-tech, modern or minimalism can be completely played out wall models, in the form of so-called “horns”, as well as chrome rings, half rings, frames and hangers. By the way, these models can be purchased with the provided rotating mechanism, which will allow you to easily adjust the position of the holder and, accordingly, the towels on it.
Wall hooks will be an excellent solution for a deliberately small room; the advantage of these holder models is their compactness, which, accordingly, will allow you to line up several hooks on which future towels will simply be located perfectly: for hands, face, showers. But there is also a drawback, the fact is that any fabric easily slides off such hooks, so you will have to purchase towels with eyelets or sew them on yourself.

Floor towel holders.

Similar models usually made of metal or wood, and also come in folding and non-folding types. Wooden models, are often decorated with carved elements, and metal, covered with chrome compounds or decorated with always up-to-date forging. These shelves can be equipped with one or more compartments, as in the photo below. The advantages of this type of holders is that such a design can be placed anywhere in the room, in particular near the bath.

Table towel holders.

Among the desktop models, the towel holder with many divisions, in which you can store rolled hand or face towels, is especially popular. In addition, a kind of towel rack can be attached to such a holder, on which a small towel-napkin will hang freely. Such models are made of wood and metal, and can also be painted in any color. suitable color.

When choosing a towel holder, you should focus not only on its functionality, but also on its external design, because even such a seemingly insignificant detail can significantly transform the overall interior design.
