What can you make snow at home from? Imitation of snow and ice on products - a step-by-step master class Artificial snow from salt

For New Year's homemade products and decorations, it is often required artificial snow, in the role of which in some cases cotton wool can serve, but to make the snow look even more natural and beautiful, you can buy artificial snow in bags, but it may not always and everywhere be available, so we will make artificial snow at home with our own hands from available components that are for sure you have, for this we present several ways to make artificial snow.

Shiny snow.

To do this, you need to mix two boxes of cornstarch (or cornmeal), glitter and shaving foam. From such components, artificial snow will turn out fluffy, cold and soft.

Silky snow.

Take a couple of white bars of soap, freeze them in the freezer (leave them there for about a day). Then take out the soap and rub it on a fine grater, you should get fluffy snow, add sparkles and mint extract to it. At the same time, as with real snow, you can mold any figure from it, for example, a snowman.

Snow from shaving foam.

To create such snow, you will need 1 can of white shaving foam, squeeze all the foam into a bowl, gradually adding soda at this time (you will need about 1.5 packs of baking soda). Mix, and you will get a pleasant mass of snow, with the help of such snow you can also sculpt snowballs and figures.

Polyethylene foam snow.

Foamed polyethylene is often used as a packaging material for household and other appliances, as well as shoe inserts. We take a fine grater and rub it as much as necessary, the process is rather complicated and dirty, as a result, the whole room can be covered in such snow J. But the snow will turn out fluffy and pretty literally from nothing.

Snow from a baby diaper.

This is a fairly popular method on the Internet now. To do this, cut the baby diaper and remove the sodium polyacrylate from there, then break it into small pieces. After that, put this mass in a container and gradually fill it with water until the mass resembles snow, the main thing is not to overdo it with water, as this will make the snow wet. Then put it in the refrigerator for a while (but not in the freezer).

Hoarfrost from salt.

In addition to snow, you can also make frost, for example, to decorate twigs. To do this, we collect a little water in a saucepan and put it on low heat, then we begin to gradually add salt (preferably coarse-grained) until it stops dissolving. We put sprigs of pine, spruce or another plant in a hot salt solution into the pan and leave for a while. The formation of salts on a branch occurs better in warm water. We take out the plants, let the water drain and leave to dry for 4-5 hours. Everything, frost will look like real.

Snow from PVA glue and starch.

This artificial snow is suitable if you need to decorate some surface with a voluminous white mass. To do this, take two tablespoons of PVA glue, also two tablespoons of starch and 2 tablespoons of silver paint. We mix everything together thoroughly and get our artificial snow.

New Year is a time of miracles and fairy tales. And what can better convey the right atmosphere than the snow that lies on the windows, the branches of the Christmas tree, holiday table and does not melt? You can do this at home, we will talk about popular methods.

DIY artificial snow has a different purpose, which depends on the materials chosen. Some options are suitable for decorating the floor under the Christmas tree, others for painting windows, bottles, dishes. Knowing the properties of artificial snow, you can find the most unexpected application for it.

Making artificial snow and frost from toothpaste

This option is perfect for applying to glass - mirrors, windows, crystal. Can also be used to decorate spruce branches. Such a frost is easy to manufacture, but has a small drawback: it is impossible to achieve accurate spraying of the selected area, it is possible to “dirty” the adjacent surfaces.

Buy the cheapest toothpaste without multi-colored components. Place the contents of half of the tube into a container that is easy to mix and gradually pour clean water. You need to achieve the consistency of sour cream, so pour in the liquid in small portions so as not to overdo it. The resulting composition is applied to the surface with a toothbrush. Dip it into the prepared mass and spray it with your finger on the brush. To decorate a window in this way, prepare a stencil, fix it on the glass with water and apply the patterns you need.

Using baking soda and shaving foam

This option is suitable for decorating the Christmas tree, its branches, the floor under the tree and any other place of your choice. Such a craft is within the power of a child - there will be something to do on a long winter evening. Among the shortcomings - artificial snow must be periodically removed so as not to litter the apartment.

The instruction is simple. Buy shaving cream. If with the smell of frosty freshness - even better. Your snow will be just like the real thing. Squeeze the contents of the vial into any convenient container. Gradually add baking soda. The trick of this method is that the structure of artificial snow depends on the amount of soda. The more soda, the more free-flowing the material is. Therefore, the amount of filler depends on the final goal: creating snowdrifts or sculpting a snowman.

If you plan to take children with crafts, use food starch. So baby skin will not suffer. This snow can also be dyed in different colors using food coloring. Put a music box on the shelf, spread snow around it - there will be no limit to the delight of the guests!

Salt artificial snow

This method is good for decorating Christmas tree or pine branches. It will not work to create a snow texture, but the frost effect will be believable.

Pour 5 liters of water into an enamel bowl without chips. Add two packs of salt. Extra or different - does not play a role. Boil and keep on fire until the salt is completely dissolved. Let the water cool a little and dip the branches into it for 5-6 hours. Then take it out and dry it for half an hour.

You will achieve the effect of frost. A few Christmas decorations as the finishing touches will give the composition a natural, fairy-tale look. Such spruce branches delight children and adults, create a New Year's mood.

Imitation of snow with foam

The method is suitable for those who like to spend time hugging a vacuum cleaner. "Snowflakes" scatter around the apartment even from a small draft, and collecting them is not so easy. To make such artificial snow, take foam. Better than the one used for packaging small household appliances(he has less grain). Use a fork to scrape off the pellets and put them in a bag for later storage.

You can use artificial snow obtained in this way as a decoration for a Christmas tree.

Making artificial snow from diapers

Yes, it didn’t seem to you, but we didn’t seal it. You can also make artificial snow out of baby diapers. The granules that are inside the diapers perfectly absorb moisture, while acquiring a loose structure.

To make artificial snow for decoration, carefully remove the filler. In new diapers, it looks like cotton wool.

Grind the material with scissors and place the resulting bulk mass in any dish. Pour clean water in a thin stream while stirring the contents of the container. It is best to do this with your hands, mixing and kneading the mass, as if kneading dough.

The artificial snow obtained in this way is difficult to distinguish from the real one, even at close range. You can make snowdrifts under the Christmas tree, scatter snow on spruce branches, window sills, furniture. It does not melt, does not lose moisture and does not stain surfaces.

In recent years, snow does not always please us with its abundance and constancy in winter. Whether this is due to global warming or other causes of climate change, in any case, we always, especially during the winter holidays, so want to enjoy the view of this white fluffy miracle.

Artificial snow created right at your home can help with this desire. Although it is relevant even with snowdrifts outside the window - with its help, the atmosphere of celebration and magic will soar in the house if you decorate it with various crafts and a Christmas tree. In addition, such an activity with a child will be a fun alternative to other games.

How to make artificial snow at home?

Of course, you can buy ready-made artificial snow, but if this option seems inappropriate to you, you can always replace it with something. There are many options for how to make artificial snow. At the same time, it will be fluffy, soft, crispy like a real one. Plus, it's very flavorful. So not only children, but also adults will definitely like it.

The first artificial snow recipe

We will need:

  • 2 boxes of cornmeal (starch);
  • shaving cream;
  • glitter (mica);
  • mint extract.

This snow will turn out shiny, cold, fluffy and incredibly soft, like clouds. First, mix shaving cream and starch in a container. This process will take some time, but it will be incredibly fun. Your kids will love the feeling of "snow" on their hands while mixing.

At the end, add a few drops of mint extract to the mixture. In principle, this ingredient can not be added, it will simply add another entertaining element to the process of research and play, and the smell of snow will be just amazing. For beauty and shine, add a little mica or sparkles. From the resulting snow, you can sculpt snowballs, make any figures, for example, a funny snowman.

The second recipe for artificial snow at home

For this silky feel and look of snow, we need:

  • a few bars of frozen soap;
  • grater;
  • sequins;
  • peppermint extract.

First, the soap is sent to the freezer for the whole night. In the morning, we first take out one piece and rub it on a grater, then the next, and so on, until we rub all the prepared bars.

The result is a very fluffy snowball, in which, if desired, you can add mint extract and sparkles. Such snow is perfectly molded, so that you and your child can make any figure.

How to make artificial snow - the third recipe

For this option, you will need the following ingredients:

  • a can of shaving foam;
  • 1.5 packs of soda;
  • sequins.

We squeeze the entire can of foam into the container, gradually pour in the soda and mix. The result is a mass very similar to real snow, from which it is pleasant to sculpt. For beauty, add sparkles. Feels like this snow is very soft, cool, smells of frost and freshness.

INTRODUCTION

I love sports and have been swimming since I was 3 years old. I like this sport also because you can train both in winter and in summer. I thought, how do other athletes train, for example, skiers? After all, they constantly need snow for training! And what to do in the summer when there is no snow on the street?

This is how the topic came about. my work: “How can you make snow? »

Target my research:

Experienced to make artificial snow at home

Hypothesis : Is it possible to make artificial snow at home using chemicals and natural processes.

During the study, it was determined tasks:

Consider the creation of artificial snow in industry;

Analyze how snow is produced in nature;

Conduct experiments on making artificial snow at home in a chemical and natural way

THEORETICAL PART

Snow is one of the indispensable attributes of winter. Despite the fact that low winter temperatures are possible even in the absence of snow, one of the main conditions for a climatic winter is the presence of a stable (permanent) snow cover, which lies continuously or with short breaks throughout the winter. At the same time, in some especially warm regions of the planet (for example, on the Arabian Peninsula), such a weather phenomenon as snow is absent or is observed only once in several decades. In Russia, permanent snow cover is established over most of the country. The timing of its installation varies from year to year and from the timing of the onset of climatic winter. It often happens that there are snowless winters, thereby creating problems for amateurs. winter views sports. In such cases, artificial snow comes to the rescue, which covers the slopes of the ski slopes.

Production of "artificial" snow for more than 50 years. The first experimental installations began to be created in the 1950s and 60s. in countries where skiing was very popular.

The first method used for snowmaking ski slopes: the use of an ice maker that produces flake or granular ice, which is subsequently brought to a state similar to real snow by crushing.

  • The second method used for snowmaking ski runs and slopes is the use of snow guns, which spray liquid under pressure at sub-zero ambient temperatures, which in turn freezes into snow.
  • snow cannon - a device for the production of artificial snow. During operation, the “gun” finely sprays water, which then freezes, turning into snow. Frozen water drops are obtained by spraying water with special nozzles into free air space, which has negative temperature(from −1.5 degrees Celsius). Purchase
  • e The design of the snow cannon implements the entire natural “technology” for creating such a miracle as snowflakes, which are formed during a long journey from heaven to earth. First of all, with the help of nozzles, the smallest droplets of water are sprayed, falling into a powerful air stream created by a special fan. Then, the resulting "artificial cloud" flies through special device in a snow gun, where the water-air mixture is injected, which is the basis for creating primary snowflakes. On the resulting primary snowflakes, which are scientifically called condensation centers, there is a "sticking" in a certain order of cooled water molecules from the "artificial cloud", which give the snowflakes a hexagonal shape. The resulting flow of such a mixture is ejected through the nozzle of a snow gun, continuing the further formation of snowflakes, and falls to the ground in the form of real snow at a distance of tens of meters.

Both of these methods are quite expensive both in terms of capital costs (the installation of several refrigeration units is required to maintain a low temperature of the air and the slope itself) and in terms of energy consumption (these refrigeration units consume a lot of electricity).

PRACTICAL PART

I will try to make artificial snow at home. It turns out that making such snow is quite easy. The snow will look like real snow and will even be cool to the touch.

To make artificial snow, I will need:

1. Sodium polyacrylate.
(It can be found in disposable diapers.)

2. Some water
The usual tap.

3. Container
We will mix everything in it.

Let's start making snow.

Pour sodium polyacrylate into a container and add some water.

We mix.
If the sodium looks dry, add a little more water until it looks like snow. The main thing is not to overdo it with water, otherwise it will not be white as we need.

If we want to make our artificial snow cold, then we put it in the refrigerator.
The main thing is that the temperature was not below zero, otherwise our snow will turn into ice.

Let me summarize:

“instant snow” - and it really is. You simply fill it with water and within a few seconds, you get artificial snow that is almost indistinguishable from the real one! It won't melt or melt, you can make it any color!

It is based on a special synthetic polymer with super-absorbent properties. Each powder grain instantly absorbs water and expands to 100 of its original size. And you get realistic fluffy fake snow without the hassle.
After a few days, the artificial snow thus obtained will begin to dry out a little and eventually return to its original shape. The evaporation time of moisture is very dependent on the humidity of the room in which it is located, or environment. Evaporates faster in dry climates than in dry climates. high level humidity. You can keep this snow fresh by sprinkling it with water once every one or two days.
When the moisture has completely evaporated from the snow, you can collect it and use it again as many times as you like. Just assemble it and pack it in a dry bag or box. Just be sure that the water has completely evaporated from the powder.

Snow is easy to clean. You can sweep or vacuum snow from any surface. Do not flush snow down the sink, as this will slow down the drain. The snow is quite slippery, so be careful when stepping on it. If you need to quickly remove the snow, table salt will easily take all the moisture out of it in a few hours.

To create amazing colored snow, simply add a few drops of food coloring to water before mixing the snow for a few seconds. Within a few seconds the snow will be colored!

THEORETICAL PART

I got artificial snow chemically, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted, so I continued my research.

From the lessons of the world around me, I learned that snow is formed from water. It is known that in nature water can be in three different states, such as: gaseous, liquid or solid.

Clouds, snow and rain are various states water.

A cloud is made up of many water droplets or ice crystals, rain is just liquid water, and a snowflake is a collection of tiny ice crystals.Snow forms when microscopic water droplets in clouds are attracted to dust particles and freeze. The ice crystals that appear in this case, which at first do not exceed 0.1 mm in diameter, fall down and grow as a result of condensation of moisture from the air on them. In this case, six-pointed crystalline forms are formed. Due to the structure of water molecules, only 60° and 120° angles are possible between the rays of the crystal. The main water crystal has the shape of a regular hexagon in the plane. New crystals are then deposited on the tops of such a hexagon, new ones are deposited on them, and thus various forms of snowflake stars are obtained.

At high temperature crystals repeatedly move vertically in the atmosphere, partially melting and crystallizing again. Because of this, the regularity of crystals is disturbed, and mixed forms are formed. Crystallization of all six rays occurs at the same time, under almost identical conditions, and therefore the features of the shape of the snowflake rays are identical.

Water that is in a gaseous state is called water vapour. When people talk about the amount of humidity in the air, they usually mean the amount of water vapor. If the air is described as "moist", it means that the air contains a large number of water vapor.

Ice is the solid phase of water. A thick layer of ice has a bluish color, which is associated with the peculiarities of light refraction. The compressibility of ice is very low. Ice at normal pressure exists only at or below 0°C and is less dense than cold water.

When the ambient temperature rises, it is possible to transfer water first from a solid state to a liquid state and, upon further heating, to a gaseous state (steam).

When the temperature of a substance in the gaseous state is lowered, it can be transferred first to a liquid, and then to a solid state.

During these transformations of matter, heat is released.

The release of heat is accompanied by a decrease in the internal energy of the substance.

Changes in aggregate states and the water cycle in nature.

Solar heat evaporates moisture from the earth's surface, the vapors reach high atmospheric layers. As the temperature rises, the vapors condense and clouds form. Inside the clouds, drops or snowflakes and hailstones form. Precipitation falls to the ground in the form of rain or snow. Depending on the season, the water on the ground can turn into ice, or vice versa, snow melts. This completes the cycle.

PRACTICAL PART

I relied on these properties of water in my next experiment. Preparing for this action takes a few minutes! You need to boil a kettle of water and go outside in severe frost. Throw the water out of the kettle and you won't see a single drop of water. From small drops of water with the help of low temperature, snow is formed instantly! I offer a video recording of this experience.

CONCLUSION

Thus, after doing some research, I came to the following conclusion:

It is possible to make artificial snow at home both chemically (using chemical sodium polyacrylate), and in a natural way (based on 3 states of water and low temperature). This snow:

Sodium Polyacrylate Artificial Snow

Snow from boiling water

will not melt or melt, it can be made even in summer

absolutely safe for health

“instant snow” - made in a few seconds

production does not require costs

can be used again after drying well

done in seconds

Snow is easy to clean with a vacuum cleaner

you can make it any color

The goal set by me at the beginning of the study was achieved, the tasks were solved.For those who are interested in my topic, I have developed a memo that contains a variety of ways to make snow at home.

I didn't even suspect that baking soda, salt, shaving foam, PVA glue and many other available substances can turn my apartment into a real kingdom of snow! I don’t know about you, but I always wait for him at the end of November, and if he doesn’t appear by mid-December, I look out the window with particular longing and don’t feel a special “taste” of the upcoming holidays. This is exactly the situation that happened this year, but I decided not to give up and arrange a miracle at home by making snow from soda.

Miracles and fairy tales are desirable for any of us, regardless of age. That is why with the onset of the winter period, which indulges us with numerous bright holidays, everyone tries to "saturate" the atmosphere with more vivid emotions. Artificial snowfall can "strew" your Christmas tree with white splendor. In a matter of seconds, he will “powder” window sills, Christmas decorations, candles, and can be “present” on the festive table in the form of a snowman. Try to make a snowy fairy tale with your own hands, especially if you have children, and there will be no limit to delight.

On the Internet, I found many interesting ideas creating snow from soda and other materials, but I chose the simplest ones for myself. If you don't want to spend cash for the purchase of store compositions that imitate snow and hoarfrost, then my collection will interest you. By the way, the resulting fluffy, cold "white happiness" practically does not differ from the artificial winter "paraphernalia" purchased in the store.

Artificial snow, created from soda and PVA glue, will help decorate various surfaces voluminous drifts. To get such a mass, you will need:

  • soda (you can take starch) - 4 tbsp. spoons;
  • PVA glue - 4 tbsp. spoons;
  • silver paint - 4 tbsp.

Mix all components thoroughly until a thick consistency is obtained, then apply to the desired surface. As soon as your "drifts" dry up, you will not distinguish them from real snow mounds.

In the article "" we present interesting ways the use of these ingredients.

Artificial snow made from baking soda and shaving foam

Making fake snow with baking soda and shaving foam is fun. You will need the following number of the components below:

  • sodium bicarbonate - 1.5 packs;
  • foam - 1 bottle.

Squeeze the foam into a deep container and pour in the white powder at the same time. It is very important to immediately mix the components, acting with short pauses: add soda to the foam, mix, add again, mix. After the mixing process is completed, the mass should be placed in the refrigerator and kept there for 5 minutes. After this period, pull out the composition and, if desired, add sparkles. Artificial snow from soda is ready.

The main feature of this composition is that it will have a frosty freshness plume if a foam with the appropriate aroma is chosen.

Snow made from baking soda and salt

If you want to “wrap” the branches with enchanting hoarfrost, then this is not difficult at all. All you need is:

  • water in the amount of 5 liters;
  • table salt 1.5 packs;
  • baking soda - 1 pack.

Snow from soda and salt is created as follows:

  • Take an enamel container and pour water into it;
  • Add dry ingredients to the liquid, and put on fire;
  • Heat the solution, stirring the ingredients regularly;
  • As soon as the salt and soda are completely dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat;
  • Let the composition cool slightly, then place the pine / spruce branches in the prepared solution and keep them for 4 to 6 hours. During this period, an attractive snow crust forms on the surface of the needles;
  • After the expiration of the period, remove the branches from the solution and let them dry (30-40 minutes are enough).

Snow from glycerine

To make a fluffy miracle that you can admire endlessly - use glycerin. Try with your own hands to create a popular " snowball". To make this splendor, prepare the following components of a fabulous toy:

  • paraffin candle;
  • glycerol;
  • water;
  • glitter (optional)

Snow flakes will be obtained when you rub the candle on a fine grater. Next, they take an ordinary jar with a lid, pour water and glycerin into it, mix everything and add the created snow flakes and some sparkles. The container is hermetically sealed. If you shake it, you can admire the snow smoothly falling to the bottom of the can.

It is very easy to give yourself and your loved ones a fabulous and festive mood. Try to use these simple methods, and a charming artificial snowball, frost-wrapped branches, toys and other festive attributes will delight you with their splendor for a long period.
