Operating principle and scope of application of RD pressure sensors and switches

Operating principle of the RD sensor-relay(pressostat, alarm) is as follows: when the pressure value in the controlled system reaches a certain preset setpoint, the single-pole changeover contact (1SPDT *) switches and the relay is activated, closing or opening electrical circuit. At the moment when the pressure changes (falls) by the amount of the adjustable differential (ΔP), the relay automatically returns to its original position, therefore pressure switch sensors belong to the category of automatic devices.

The versatility of the pressure switch lies in the ability to work both with increasing and decreasing pressure.
The design of many RD sensor-relays and their switching capacity* allows them to be used directly when controlling pumps or other actuators without additional devices (intermediate relays, contact relief devices, etc.).

Scope of application of the RD pressure switch: heat supply systems, ventilation, water supply, engineering industry, protection of various mechanisms, in particular, pressure switches are installed in pumping units to protect against dry running caused by a sharp decrease in pressure in the system. In RD compressors, the unit operates in automatic mode.
RD models are also widely used in air conditioning systems, refrigeration units, boiler rooms, boiler rooms, heating points, fire extinguishing systems, compressor rooms and other industrial, energy and housing and communal services facilities - housing and communal services, where reliable and accurate on-off relay control of a given pressure threshold is required.

The main areas of application of the RD pressure switch:
— Heat supply
— Water supply
- Ventilation
— Air conditioning
— Fire fighting

*- Additional information, definitions, concepts and explanations

Switching capacity(switching wear resistance of contacts) relays are characterized by the value of the power they switch, at which the contacts perform a certain number of switchings.
Switching capacity of contacts, i.e. the conditions under which the contacts operate reliably during the required service life depend, firstly, on the properties of the switched circuit, secondly, on the duration of the passage of current through the contact and, thirdly, on the switching speed.
In cases where the switching capacity of the control key contacts is insufficient, the circuit remote control complemented by contactors - devices that are capable of switching significant currents.

Designation of relay contacts in the diagrams - SPST and SPDT:
On the diagrams and on the relay housings you can find American and English designations for contacts of the following type:
SPST - single pole, single throw: normally closed (SPST-NC or A form contact) or normally open (SPST-NO or B form contact) contact;
SPDT - single pole, double throw: switching contact (SPDT-C/0 or C-form contact).

Electromagnetic (solenoid) valve- an electromechanical device designed to regulate the flow of all types of liquids and gases. Such a valve consists of a body, a solenoid (electromagnet) with a core on which a disk or piston is installed that regulates the flow.

We thank you in advance for contacting any of the enterprises of the Teplopribor group of companies (Teplopribory, Prompribor, Teplokontrol and others) and we promise to make every effort to justify your trust.

ATTENTION! Be careful when choosing a supplier - on Russian market pressure control devices, there are cheap, low-quality copies of sensor-relays (alarms) of excess pressure (pressure) and vacuum (thrust): analogues, fakes and illiquid goods, deprived of proper service, guarantees, with shorter or expiring warranty periods, without additional options and complete set; therefore, possibly having a lower price than the original products.

Pressure switches

DRD pressure switches are produced to ensure control and regulation of excess pressure (pressure) of air or gas in ventilation and gas supply systems. DRDs monitor the pressure indicator and, if the set values are reached, send the appropriate signals to the automation and control system.

DRD series sensors are designed for installation in control systems for industrial and domestic heating installations, gas burners, as well as in technological pipeline systems. DRD sensors provide control of flows of liquefied or natural gas, air or other gaseous non-aggressive media.

If it is necessary to simultaneously monitor several parameters (for example, upper and lower pressure limits), the sensors can be connected into blocks.

Housing parts for the DRD sensor are made of corrosion-resistant materials: high-strength plastic, non-ferrous alloys or oil- and petrol-resistant rubber. For the production of sensor membranes, rubberized fabric is used, which allows the membrane to withstand pressures of up to 1.5 bar. The housing cover is made of transparent plastic.

The sensor response pressure is set using a scale screw.

Electrical wires are connected to the DRD sensors with contact clamp screws.

Schematic diagram of pressure sensors-relays of the DRD series

DRD pressure switch sensors are connected to the system using threaded (G1/4) holes A and B. Moreover, if pressure is supplied through hole A, hole B is closed with plug 1 and vice versa.

It is recommended to install the sensor in a position where the diaphragm is vertical, since the sensor is factory configured for use in this position. If installed differently, the sensor will experience errors due to the influence of the mass of moving parts, which will require additional adjustment of the sensor using a reference pressure gauge.
