Letters in large inscription with size A4. How to make letters on the entire A4 sheet in Word How to print large letters

Thanks to Word and Publisher, you can print letters for posters and change their size from 1 to 1638.
For beginners, the difficulty is that it is not clear how to make the letters larger if the standard sizes are limited to the 72nd font size.
This article discusses the issue of increasing standard size font, as well as the question of how to create a title WordArt.

If you are interested in Word lessons, I also recommend that you familiarize yourself with the questions how to insert pictures and diagrams.

How to type big letters

1. Set the scale smaller since we need to see the sheets and the letters on them in order to edit the inscription.
1.1. In Word 2010, in the status bar, we find the tool - scale.
Using the slider or by clicking on the minus button, we reduce the size of the sheet.

1.2. In Word 2003, the scale can be set in two ways - by selecting the desired one from the toolbar.

(Picture 2)

The second way is to click "View" / "Zoom"

(Figure 3)

(Figure 4)
After we have chosen the scale, we can see several sheets at once and how the inscription will look like.

2. Change the size of the letters.

If you don't know how to increase the letter size (greater than 72pt), it's easy enough.
Erase what is written in the "Font Size" window:
- set the cursor inside the "Font Size" window;
- delete the number indicating the old size using the backspace or delete key;
- we print a new font size, remembering that the upper limit is the number 1938 and if you type 1939, the program will report an error.
2.1. In word 2010, go to the "Home" tab, erase the old font size and type 72, and then press Enter.

(Figure 5)

2.2. In word 3003, you also need to erase the font.

(Figure 6)

Here's what I got.

(Figure 7)

Working with WordArt

In Word 2010, this feature is not available, but it is present in Publisher, where the inscription can be printed and copied to word.

3. To make WordArt text, in Word 2003 we turn on the drawing panel, for this we press "View" / "Toolbar" / "Drawing". Now click on the letter A in the WordArt panel and select the font for the ad text.

(Figure 8)

And now you can write the text in whole or in parts ...

(Figure 9)

4. After we have received a part of the text, we need to move it, move it, but it won’t work that easily - we will have to change the settings of the WordArt object. To do this, select the text, right-click on the selected object and select "Format WordArt Object" in the window that appears.

(Figure 10)

5. Then in the window that appears, we must go to the "Position" tab and select "Along the contour", now we can freely move and enlarge our object.

Go to the Position tab and select Follow Contour

Conclusion

If you are going to print an inscription for a poster in word, then this can be done using regular enlarged text and WordArt text.
And not always new program has the best opportunities and the obsolete word program can print exactly the same, you just need to know the location of the tools.
Good luck with your poster.

The question of how to make a stencil in Microsoft Word is of interest to many users. The problem is that finding a sane answer to it on the Internet is not so easy. If you are also interested in this topic, you have come to the right place, but first, let's figure out what a stencil is.

A stencil is a "perforated plate", at least that is the meaning of this word in an exact translation from Italian. We will briefly talk about how to make such a “plate” in the second half of this article, and directly below we will share with you how to create the basis for a traditional stencil in Word.

If you are ready to seriously get confused by connecting your imagination in parallel, you can use any font provided in the standard set of the program to create a stencil. The main thing, when it is printed on paper, is to make jumpers - places that will not be cut out in letters bounded by an outline.

Actually, if you are ready to sweat over the stencil so much, it is not clear why you need our instructions, since you have all the MS Word fonts at your disposal. Choose the one you like, write a word or type the alphabet and print on the printer, and then cut them out along the contour, not forgetting the jumpers.

If you are not ready to spend so much effort, time and energy and a classic-looking stencil suits you perfectly, our task is to find, download and install that same classic stencil font. We are ready to save you from a grueling search - we found everything on our own.

The Trafaret Kit Transparent font completely imitates the good old Soviet TSh-1 stencils with one nice bonus - in addition to the Russian language, it also has English, as well as a number of other characters that are not in the original. You can download it from the author's website.

Installing the font

In order for the font you downloaded to appear in Word, you must first install it on the system. Actually, after that it will automatically appear in the program. You can learn how to do this from our article.

Creating the base for the stencil

Select Trafaret Kit Transparent from the list of fonts available in Word and create the desired inscription in it. If you need an alphabetic stencil, write the alphabet on the document page. Other characters can be added as needed.

The standard portrait orientation of a sheet in Word is not the best solution for creating a stencil. On the landscape page, it will look more familiar. Our instruction will help you change the position of the page.

Now the text needs to be formatted. Set the right size, choose the right position on the page, set sufficient indents and spacing, both between letters and between words. Our guide will help you do it all.

Perhaps the standard A4 sheet size will not be enough for you. If you want to change it to a larger one (A3, for example), our article will help you do this.

Note: When changing the sheet format, do not forget to change the font size and related parameters proportionally. Equally important in this case are the capabilities of the printer on which the stencil will be printed - support for the selected paper size is required.

Screen printing

Having written the alphabet or inscription, having formatted this text, you can safely proceed to printing the document. If you still don't know how to do this, be sure to check out our instructions.

Create a stencil

As you understand, there is practically no sense from a stencil printed on a regular piece of paper. More than once they are unlikely to be used. That is why the printed page with the stencil base needs to be “strengthened”. For this you will need the following:

  • Cardboard or plastic film;
  • Carbon paper;
  • Scissors;
  • Shoe or clerical knife;
  • Pen or pencil;
  • Board;
  • Laminator (optional).

The printed text must be transferred to cardboard or plastic. In the case of transferring to cardboard, ordinary carbon paper (carbon paper) will help to do this. You just need to lay the stencil page on cardboard, placing a carbon paper between them, and then trace the outline of the letters with a pencil or pen. If there is no carbon paper, you can push through the outlines of the letters with a pen. The same can be done with transparent plastic.

And yet, it is more convenient with transparent plastic, and it would simply be more correct to do it a little differently. Place a sheet of plastic on top of the stencil page and trace the outlines of the letters with a pen.

After the basis for the stencil created in Word is transferred to cardboard or plastic, all that remains is to cut empty seats with scissors or a knife. The main thing is to do it strictly along the line. It is not difficult to drive the knife along the border of the letter, but the scissors must first be “driven” into the place that will be cut out, but not into the edge itself. It is better to cut plastic with a sharp knife, after placing it on a solid board.

If you have a laminator handy, the printed sheet of paper with the stencil base can be laminated. Having done this, cut out the letters along the contour with a clerical knife or scissors.

When creating a stencil in Word, especially if it is an alphabet, try to make the distance between letters (on all sides) no less than their width and height. If this is not critical for the presentation of the text, the distance can be made a little more.

If to create a stencil you did not use the Trafaret Kit Transparent font offered by us, but any other (non-stencil) font presented in the standard Word set, we recall once again, do not forget about the jumpers in the letters. For letters whose contour is limited by the internal space (an obvious example is the letters “O” and “B”, the number “8”), there must be at least two such jumpers.

That's all, in fact, now you know not only how to make a basis for a stencil in Word, but also how to make a full-fledged, dense stencil with your own hands.

The need to increase the size of the letters in such a way that one letter occupies the entire A4 sheet does not often arise, but, nevertheless, it happens. Think first, why do you even need it. Already thought? Then think, is it possible to solve this problem in another way?

Before reading the next section in which I show how to make a letter the size of an A4 sheet, it is worth considering why this is necessary. Want to make a big sign? Poster? Probably, it's not just that you need to stretch the letters to such a size. In addition, calculate how many A4 sheets it will take for such an "inscription" - a whole bunch.

I can notice that such inscriptions look in which one letter on one A4 sheet, to put it mildly, is not very good. Each letter (A4 sheet) must be separately attached or glued to the rest ... Also, there is a lot of toner when printing (a lot!). Do you need it?

If you still really need to make letters the size of an A4 sheet, then read on.

Do not forget to watch the new version of the video for the article - it shows another way to solve the problem.

If you came here through a search and are not familiar with my site, then I draw your attention to the fact that such questions like "printing huge letters on A4" should be solved only comprehensively. Having studied the program once, you will never have to type such queries in the search again.

Well, now we will continue to make letters and numbers of huge sizes in Word.

How to make a letter in the entire sheet of A4

It is very simple to increase the letter to the size of an A4 sheet, as well as to any other size. First of all, we need a text editor that has sheet division. You can, of course, use regular Windows Notepad to print huge letters, but there working space not divided into A4 sheets. In this case, before the pre-print preview, you can’t see whether the letter occupies the entire A4 sheet or not. So I will use Microsoft Word.

Speaking of A4 sheets. In a regular printer, A4 is always used, so all text editors are set to this format by default. However, it costs nothing to print the document on a sheet smaller than A4 (in our case, the document consists of one letter, but the meaning does not change).

The above is an example of how you can make a letter in the size of an A4 sheet. I don't think it looks very pretty. In addition, the letter still does not quite occupy an A4 sheet. However, it is possible.

This is done very simply - by increasing the font size. I can immediately notice that if you yourself did not guess this, then you have problems with working in Windows. Yes, yes, it is in Windows - this is the relationship to Word Not It has. And you don't need to be offended.

Typically, the font size is set by choosing from a list. In this case, everything is the same. Type your letter, select it with the mouse and set the desired size. That's just the creators of Word and other programs by no means thought that someone comes to mind to put such font size, at which one letter occupies the entire A4 sheet. For this reason, in the font size selection list maximum size not so great - "only" 72 points.

[click on image to enlarge]

Times not right size, then you can just write it in the selection list, as shown in the figure, since the font size selection list is editable (what-what???). Unclear? Then you urgently need to learn Windows.

Again. Select your letter, then erase what is written there in the font selection list, and write what you need. What number to write? This generally depends on which type of font is chosen. Pick up until your letter is exactly the size of an A4 sheet. In my example, this is 800 points (more precisely, I was too lazy to select).

Other ways to enlarge the letter to A4 size

As you may have noticed, the method shown above of stretching the letter to the entire A4 sheet has an obvious drawback - no matter how you increase the font size, the letter stubbornly does not want to become centered on A4. In the example below, this drawback is completely eliminated and the letter is located exactly in the center of the A4 sheet.

[click on image to enlarge]

In this example, the problem is solved in a different way, but again in Word. It is worth remembering that almost any task has more than one way of implementation. You just need to be good at what you are doing. However, method number one is much more popular - few people want to think!

How to print numbers on an entire A4 sheet in Word

A very similar task - in my opinion, and generally completely similar to the one discussed above. To create huge numbers for the size of A4, you can use all the same methods that I showed in this article. So if you need to make one number fit on the sheet (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or the number 0), then consider that you can already do it. Well, this, of course, if you carefully read what was written above.

And in addition to this, I, perhaps, will show you another way to increase the inscriptions to the entire sheet. Namely, contour symbols in A4 size. An example is shown in the figure. True, there is already a fill there, but you can guess for yourself how to remove it ... (hint: shape properties).

[click on image to enlarge]

Why is this needed? Well, for example, in order to color it all later. :) And indeed - after all, color printers are not so common. By the way, you can read about printing color images on a black and white printer.

To make a figure in the entire A4 sheet, first remove the margins or make them as narrow as possible (about changing the margins). After that, from the Ribbon menu in the "Insert" section, select WordArt and add it to the sheet. Then just increase the font, everything is clear. It is only worth considering one feature.

Use the text frame markers around the edges to expand the margin so that your number will fit. Otherwise, it will go beyond the borders of the frame and part of the figure will not be visible. You also need to center the text so that it is in the middle of the sheet. To do this, drag it outside the border of the frame (usually down).

Features of printing letters in A4 sheet size

There are some features of text printing such sizes that I did not show above (lazy). You can watch it in a demo video where I show the process of creating giant letters in Word.

Summing up

Think again, is it worth it to print in huge letters in the entire A4 sheet! Maybe still order a poster? Well, or at least print a poster using the built-in poster printing capabilities, as I show.

If you have already decided to print the text letter by letter, then it may also be worth making a frame, along which to trim the edges later?
