DIY ottoman for the hallway made of tires: stylish, fashionable, youthful. Economical furniture - a master class on making an ottoman from tires with your own hands How to make an ottoman from a tire with your own hands

To create comfort in your home, you don’t need to pay money. You can make beautiful things from scrap materials. For example, make an ottoman from old car tires. This does not require much effort and time, but the product will delight you for many years. The pouf will come in handy at the dacha, in the apartment or in the garage.

Materials and tools needed to create a tire ottoman

  1. Tire - 2 pcs. You can build a base from one tire, but it will be low. If the product is being made for a nursery, 1 piece is enough.
  2. A drill is useful to drill holes.
  3. Plywood - thickness should be within 3-5 millimeters. It would make a great seat. If necessary, it is recommended to make the base for the pouf, and the top to be detachable, then you can put things inside.
  4. Furniture glue - needed for fixing foam rubber and material.
  5. Furniture stapler - necessary for securing the material.
  6. Foam rubber - for seat padding.
  7. A piece of fabric is for upholstering the product. It is better to choose thick fabric and several colors.

How to make an ottoman from a tire with your own hands? Additional materials:

  • Jigsaw, zipper;
  • Hinges for the lid;
  • Self-tapping screws;
  • Bolts (wire).

Plywood is cut to the diameter of the tire. If desired, you can trim the edges with a jigsaw. Polyurethane foam is placed on top and fixed with glue (when used, the polyurethane foam will not slide to the edges).

For aesthetics, a cover for the lid is made from fabric. The pattern is simple: measure the height of the resulting seat and the diameter. We cut out two circles and a ribbon from the material (the width will be equal to the height, the length will be equal to the diameter). Using a machine we sew the circles with the ribbon, leaving room for the zipper. We put the cover on the seat.

TIP: you can simply cover the lid with fabric and secure it with a stapler. It is recommended to cover the back side of the top of the ottoman with non-fabric.

The tires are fastened together. The holes are made with a drill and can be fastened with bolts or wire. For beauty, it is recommended to cover the rubber with fabric.

TIP: another way to hide tires is to carefully wrap the product with rope and secure it with glue. The option is more suitable with one tire. If there are two wheels, you can first wrap them with fiberboard or thick cardboard from boxes.

To make an ottoman from a tire with your own hands, it is recommended to cover the lower platform (chipboard swells from moisture, the fabric serves as protection). If desired, you can attach legs or casters. Then the part is attached to the base with bolts or wire. We connect the lid to the base using hinges (it will open).

The pouf is ready for use. Creative types can spend a little more time to make the furniture more beautiful.

How to decorate the finished product

  1. You need to take a bright plain fabric of several colors, cut out flowers or other shapes from it. Use glue to secure it to the ottoman.
  2. Take old beads, coins, flat plastic figures and attach them to the product with glue. For reliability, the decor is varnished.
  3. You can sew on cute pockets.
  4. Lace is useful; it is sewn over the base onto a plain material. You can apply paint to the fabric and remove the lace. It is also recommended to apply any shapes using a stencil.

Today we will look at how to make an original pouf from an ordinary car tire. Making an ottoman from a tire with your own hands does not require much expense, and it can also be used as coffee table or banquettes.

To make a tire ottoman with your own hands we will need:

new or used tire;

2 circles of MDF 6 mm thick, 55 cm in diameter;

six self-tapping screws;

perforator;

screwdriver;

glue gun or super glue;

screw cord 5 meters long, 10 mm thick;

tire cleaning cloth;

Clean the tires from dirt with a dry cloth; if the tire is very dirty, rinse it and let it dry.

Place 1 MDF circle on the car tire and make 3 holes along the edges at 3 distant points so that the punch penetrates the rubber.

Using a screwdriver and self-tapping screws, secure the MDF to the rail. Do the same with each of the holes and repeat steps 1, 2 and 3 on the other side of the tire.

Using glue, attach one end of the cord to the center of the MDF circle.

Holding with your hand, continue gluing the cord in a spiral, remembering to use required amount glue before each circle.

Once you have covered the entire MDF circle with cord, do the same around the edges of the car tire.

Turn the tire and continue covering it with cord until you reach the edge of the second MDF circle.

Tires that have fallen out of use are widely used in subsidiary farming. What skillful craftsmen come up with: flower beds and crafts for decoration personal plot, and children's swings. Another option is to make an ottoman out of a tire with your own hands. Practical and creative! Such furniture will be useful not only in the country, but also in a city apartment. So, a do-it-yourself ottoman made from a wheel: features and a detailed master class.

Handmade furniture is always appreciated. Often it can become the main decoration of the house, because when making it, each craftsman puts his soul into his product and uses individual approach. In addition, the work does not require any special skills or expensive materials. Often used wheels are simply thrown away as unnecessary. But it turns out that they can be given a second life!

This ottoman is quite comfortable to sit on as it is stable. In addition, it can be used as a coffee table. Such ottomans will look great in a gazebo, on the veranda or in the hallway. As you can see in the photo, they look quite original. There are at least three ways to make such simple furniture.

First way

Pouf from old tire(option 1)

You can make a pouf from one wheel, but it will be a little low for an adult. Therefore, we suggest trying to connect two tires together. To work you will need the following tools:

  • jigsaw;
  • screwdriver;
  • file;
  • construction stapler;
  • scissors and knife;
  • pencil or marker;
  • screws.

The materials you will need are two tires, plywood, foam rubber for laying, fabric for covering, a belt or hose. We wash the tires thoroughly to keep them clean. On the one that will be the top, we cut out four small holes for further fastening the seat.

Holes for attaching the seat

The wheels can be connected to each other using screws.

Connecting

The seat is made of plywood. Draw a circle on a sheet of paper - the same diameter as the tire. Then cut it out with a jigsaw and file the edges.

Cutting out the base for the seat

Make a round pad from foam rubber.

Foam gasket

Cover the seat with fabric, securing it to the plywood with a stapler on the back side.

Fabric covering

Use a belt or hose to secure the seat.

Temporary fixation

Attach it to the top wheel with screws.

Attaching the seat to the tire

The rubber part can be painted in your favorite color. This is one of the options for making an ottoman from a tire. As you can see in the photo, it looks quite original.

Second way

Pouf from an old tire (option 2)

There is another method - using a rope. You will need:

  • jigsaw;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • scissors;
  • glue gun;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • thick twine or hemp rope;
  • upholstery fabric;
  • brush.

Required tools and materials

In this case, from chipboard sheet cut out two circles and attach them with self-tapping screws on both sides of the tire.

Fastening the plywood circle

Then you can start decorating the future pouf. To do this we use a coil of rope. You need to start from the center of the top circle. Using a glue gun, the rope is secured in a spiral.

Decorating the lid

When the cover is ready, we proceed to the sides of the wheel. We wind the rope in a spiral in the same way. You need to work carefully, tightly pressing the new turn to the previous one. Leave the bottom as is.

Decorating the sides

When the twine sets, that is, the glue dries well, coat the ottoman made from a tire with colorless varnish.

For reliability, it is better to apply several layers. This will protect it from moisture and dirt, which will make it easier further care for the product.

Applying varnish

This DIY seat made from tires looks beautiful in an eco-style room.

Third way

Pouf from an old tire (option 3)

If you don’t want to bother with the rope, no problem. To quickly make a seat, you can simply place a wheel inside old pillow. In this case, also prepare:

  • foam;
  • fabric/mesh;
  • lace or fringe;
  • thick threads for sewing;
  • self-tapping screws

If you want the pouf to be as tall as a chair, use two wheels. Connect them together with self-tapping screws. Cut a rectangle of foam rubber large enough to wrap around the wheel. Sew its edges. Thanks to this, the frame will become soft and beautiful.

Cover the top of the frame thick fabric, and place a circle of foam rubber on top. Then cover the seat with one piece of upholstery material, and the side part with the other. Use strong thread. You can decorate the product with lace, fringe or other decorative elements. Look at photos of such products and borrow an idea.

And one more thing: so that the furniture can be easily moved around the room, you can attach handles to it. An old belt will do for this. Make loops out of it and attach it to the frame with screws. Thus, you have learned how to make beautiful poufs from tires in three ways.

I decided to present to your attention a master class on making an ottoman from car tires.
This wonderful pouf is suitable both for the home and for the balcony, open terrace, gazebos. This ottoman is not afraid of the vagaries of the weather!!!
Let's take a closer look at this interesting master class together!

To work you will need:
Car tire (or better yet, a complete wheel)
Hemp or jute rope - 100-250 m (depending on thickness)
Board for legs - 24-36 mm (or ready-made legs)
Plywood - 6-8 mm
Waterproof glue
Thermal gun
Screwdriver
Drill
Jigsaw
Wood screws
stain
Furniture corners
Varnish
Wide brush
Dye

First you need to take the wheel the right size and wash it thoroughly and dry it.

Then cut out of plywood, using a jigsaw, according to the diameter of the wheel.

But here the author clarifies that the lower circle should lie flush with the side surface, and the diameter of the upper circle should fit tightly into the wheel rim, i.e. be slightly smaller.

To make legs, you can take old legs as a template, trace them with a pencil and cut them out using a jigsaw, you can buy ready-made ones or if you have good fantasy come up with your own unique design legs

Then you need to make markings on a larger diameter plywood circle for the legs.

After the glue and stain have dried, you need to turn the workpiece over and apply universal glue around the perimeter of the plywood, and place the wheel on the workpiece. Also glue the upper blank to the wheel, applying glue along the rim of the disk.

And finally, the most interesting part is the finishing of the ottoman (at least for me, as a woman!).

The legs of the ottoman can be painted in bright colors; universal enamel is suitable for this.

And on final stage We open the ottoman completely with varnish.

Such a masterpiece can be used not only as an ottoman, but also as a table.

Welcome to the website of crafts and needlework. Today we will describe how to create a creative pouf with your own hands from a car tire, thick rope and plywood.

The idea is very simple, but at the same time very useful and versatile: it is comfortable to sit on, and the ottoman can be used as a coffee table.

We have already written how you can use car tires: creating flower beds in the country, and in this case we will use tires more practically. A pouf made in this way can be useful not only for summer cottage, but also in a city apartment, in a cafe, on a picnic.

To make a pouf from a tire you need:

  • car tire,
  • thick rope,
  • 2 round pieces of plywood 55 mm,
  • Upholstery fabric,
  • glue gun,
  • scissors,
  • self-tapping screws

Tools: drill, screwdriver or screwdriver, jigsaw.

Let's start making the ottoman

First you need to prepare the tire itself, to do this you need to wash it and wipe it dry with a rag or let it dry in the sun.

We install the plywood circle on the tire and screw in 4-5 screws along the radius of the tire (the screws must go completely into the tire). For convenience, you can pre-make holes with a screwdriver. We do the same actions, turning the tire over to the other side.

Next, let's start decorating our ottoman using a thick rope. Glue gun We begin to attach the twine, starting from the center of the plywood circle. Then in a spiral we cover the entire tire. We don’t touch the bottom of our ottoman and leave it as is. If there is an extra piece of rope left, then simply cut it off.

You can apply a colorless varnish to the finished ottoman, which will reliably protect it from dirt. You just need to apply it in several layers for the best effect. After waiting for the previous layer to dry, apply the next one.

We wait for the varnish to dry completely, we can use tire pouf as intended. And using your imagination, you can come up with a lot of appointments for him.
