Gas lamp for a tent: how to use and which one to choose? How to change the mesh in a gas lighting lamp? Do-it-yourself catalytic mesh for a gas lamp

Due to their qualities, LEDs have firmly entered our everyday life. They are a semiconductor diode that emits light when voltage is applied.

LEDs have undeniable advantages over conventional lighting devices - fluorescent lamps, incandescent lamps and gas discharge lamps. These devices have small size, they do not have filaments, harmful substances, fragile glass flasks. The consumption of electricity is several times less compared to conventional light sources, and the service life is much longer.

For homemade products based on LEDs, there are many solutions in the direction of manufacturing a variety of lighting devices. If you create lighting fixtures with your own hands at home, then you can apply different waste materials. Therefore, you can do something original with your own hands and save on the purchase of lighting products at retail outlets.

In my article I will tell you how to make an LED lamp in half an hour from an aerosol can and a faulty energy-saving lamp.

The process of making homemade products can be seen in the video:

List of tools and materials
- aerosol can then deodorant;
-screwdriver;
- knife or scissors;
- soldering iron;
-tester;
-electronic ballast from an energy-saving lamp or a ready-made driver for a current of 0.3A;
- LED white glow 1W-15 pieces;
- pulse diodes FR207-4pcs;
- thermal paste;
- connecting wires.

Step one. Lamp disassembly.
We dismantle the energy-saving device into its component parts. We disconnect the filaments of the glass bulb from the board. Then, if the electronic ballast board is working, you can wind the secondary winding around the inductor and power the LEDs through the diode bridge. I will not dwell on this in detail, since the alteration of the electronic board has already been described in the previous article. You can also use a ready-made driver for LEDs with an output current of 0.3A in this homemade product, and the voltage depends on the number of LEDs used in the lamp.

Step two. Manufacture of the housing of the LED lamp.
LEDs generate heat during operation, so they need to be installed on a heat sink. The efficiency of a radiator depends on the thermal conductivity of the metal, its area and shape. In this case, I used an aluminum deodorant can as its diameter approached the plinth. fluorescent lamp and the wall thickness and surface area were appropriate for the task. First, make sure that there is no liquid and residual pressure in the cylinder. Next, we cut off the upper part of the can with scissors, and try it on the base, and make holes for fixing it with screws.

With a knife we make rectangular cutouts for the passage of cooling air into the cylinder. Then we glue the LEDs on the thermally conductive glue, their location depends on your imagination, subject to uniform distribution. We solder the connecting wires to the LEDs in a serial scheme and connect them to the converted board or driver, observing the polarity.

We turn on the lamp in the network and measure the current consumption of the LEDs - it should be no more than the rated current of 0.3A.

Step three. Checking the LED lamp.

To check the heat transfer of the radiator, I glued the sensor electronic thermometer to the lamp body. The temperature was 45 degrees, which is quite good result. It must be remembered that Maximum temperature The housing of the LED should not exceed 60 degrees otherwise it will fail.

And one more option with tin cans - from a tin or beer can you can make a lampshade for led lamp cutting out decorative holes.

An example in the photo. Lampshade from a can.

The gas lamp for a tent is a source of bright non-directional lighting. Such lamps are used today by tourists, hunters, and fishermen.

How is a gas lamp made?

The device of a gas lamp and a gas burner are identical, with the only difference that the head of the gas lamp is a rod on which there is a catalytic mesh that provides a bright glow of the device. The grid is protected from external influences by a glass cover, which has a metal cover attached to metal frame on the gearbox. A chain or wire shackle is provided for hanging the device. The kit may also include spare nets and a transport case.

So the device gas lamp for tent is quite simple and reliable. Its weak elements (plafond and mesh) are always commercially available and are inexpensive. They can be purchased in our online store, which also offers a wide range of various goods for recreation and tourism (for example, here you can buy petrol burners for winter fishing , tents, mats, tools, etc.).

How to use gas lamps correctly?

When using gas lamps, there are some features, among which the following can be emphasized:

  • it is important to monitor the condition of the mesh - if holes begin to appear in it or it begins to crumble, then it should be urgently replaced, since further use device is not possible;
  • a small amount of pressure is needed to operate such a lamp or lantern, so if you use gas infrared heater to heat a tent or a gas stove for cooking, then half-empty cylinders can be used for a gas lamp (the remaining gas in the cylinder is enough for normal lighting);
  • only branded gas cylinders should be purchased for a gas lamp and should not be used alternatives fuel to avoid clogging and lamp failure;
  • if the lamp model you have chosen does not have piezo ignition, then you should take a lighter or matches with you.

What can be purchased in our online store?

In our online store you can choose gas equipment firm Kovea, which is suitable for use in fishing, hunting, outdoor recreation. Gas lamps from this manufacturer occupy a leading position in the market due to the excellent quality of products and ease of use. More recently, the main problem with Kovea gas lamps has been poor performance in winter conditions. But with the transition to propane, gas lamps can easily work up to -40 degrees, thereby starting to displace gasoline burners and lamps from everyday life.

Orgaz gas lamps are also presented in the catalog of the store, which are connected to a household gas valve cylinder. Such lamps are well suited for those people who travel to their destination by car. For fishing in Russian conditions, such lamps are simply ideal, as they can work with local propane tanks, and at the same time the cost of their use is low. However, such lamps are somewhat inferior in brightness to Kovea lamps.

In addition to gas lamps, lanterns and heaters, in our store you can purchase various camping equipment and items necessary to ensure comfort in hiking conditions. For example, outdoor knives online store"On seven winds" offers to purchase various forms, handle colors and at attractive prices. One has only to choose the product you like, put it in the basket and wait for a call from the store manager to clarify all the delivery details.

gas lamp- This lighting fixture operating on the principle of burning gaseous fuels such as: methane, hydrogen, carbon monoxide, propane, butane, acetylene, ethylene, natural gas or light gas. Gas lamps emit extremely bright white light.

The principle of operation of gas lamps.

The gas begins its combustion at the outlet of the nozzle, as a result of which it heats up a special grid, which is covered with thermoluminophor. It is this grid that emits light. After the first firing, the mesh becomes brittle, but it can be used for a long time. Mesh gas lamp it is covered with a ceiling made of glass, but today you can see lamps with a mesh ceiling made of metal. The plafond performs a protective function and prevents the flame from fading. Gas lamps have a small weight from 100 grams to 2 kilograms. Gas lamp power depends on the units of illumination used, which range from 35 lx to 250 lx, compared with incandescent lamps, this is an average of 40 watts to 150 watts.

To calculate the illumination of a room, you can use the calculator for calculating the illumination of a room.

Benefits of gas lamps

The main advantage of gas lamps is light. Such a lamp can be hung inside the tent, and its brightness is enough to illuminate a two- or four-man tent.

The model with piezo ignition eliminates the problems associated with matches, if you lost matches during a hike or they got wet, then you will not be left without light. A gas lamp gives off enough heat energy and can heat a room, but lamp manufacturers do not recommend this.

Choice of gas lamp.

Manufacturers of gas tourist lamps offer several types, each of which has its own characteristics. The main criterion for the purchase is the power of the lamp. Choose a gas lamp should be based on the number of illuminated meters. Models are available with or without cases. The case itself weighs about 100 grams, so it won't weigh you down much. The cover for the gas lamp can be used as a stand. When buying, be sure to pay attention to the mounts for cylinders. There are lamps for disposable cylinders ( collet) or threaded. In the first, the cylinders are simply punched and used at a time, the latter can be filled in the future.

Operation of a gas lamp.

  1. Install the gas lamp on the gas bottle.
  2. Remove top cover and take out the nets.
  3. Remove the plafond.
  4. Put nets on a gas lamp

Straighten the mesh and put it on the stem of the gas lamp. Put the lower part on to the lower stop, pull the upper one on the upper stop. In some modifications of the nets, it is necessary to tie a knot, in the region of the lower stop of the rod, with threads that provide a secure fastening. Before ignition, the mesh must be evenly straightened.

Using the gas regulator, turn on the gas and set fire to the mesh with a match or lighter.

Burn the mesh without reducing the gas until it burns completely, the smoke stops flowing, and the mesh itself settles on the rod, takes the form of a brightly glowing ball that is impossible to look at.

Turn off the gas and let the gas lamp cool down.

After that, replace the glass cover, close the top cover, assemble the gas lamp in reverse order.

For the subsequent ignition of the gas lamp, use only the piezo ignition button.

The blowtorch is a liquid fuel burner with a needle flow regulator fuel mixture and fuel tank with manual pressure booster. The compact and simple design of the device, which provides reliable autonomous operation, was the reason for its great popularity in household any practical person. Different kinds Blowtorches are also used in industrial metalworking and the food industry.

How a blowtorch works

In a gasoline blowtorch hand pump located directly in the fuel tank. To ignite the lamp, you need to close the shut-off valve-regulator of the fuel mixture and make several swings with the pump handle to create excess pressure in the tank. Then you need to heat up the burner to operating temperature, for which you should pour a little gasoline into a special cup under it and set it on fire.

When the heating flame burns out, the shut-off valve opens, and the pressurized fuel escapes through the nozzle in the form of an air-fuel mixture and ignites. With the help of the regulator, the required flame size is set. In the future, to maintain overpressure in the tank, the pump should be pumped up periodically. To extinguish the torch, close the valve, release excess air pressure in the tank through check valve or by unscrewing the pump cover.

There is no booster pump in a gas blowtorch, since it uses ready-made gas cylinders containing liquefied gas under high pressure. The cylinder is connected to the burner through a fitting, when pressed, gas is supplied. A piezoelectric spark gap is used to ignite it. Unlike a gasoline lamp, a gas appliance does not require preheating, which makes it more practical and convenient.

For gas lamps, the industry produces two types of cylinders - disposable and reusable with flange and threaded fastening. Disposable cylinders are low cost but do not have an adjustable valve to control gas flow and flare size. They are designed for single use and cannot be refilled. Reusable cylinders have a threaded head, screwing which into the neck of the burner leads to the opening of the valve and the flow of gas to the ejector. When the gas runs out, these cylinders can be refilled. When buying a burner, you need to pay attention to which cylinders it can be mated with.

Features of the use of a gasoline blowtorch

Even 20 years ago, a gasoline blowtorch was indispensable tool in the household of every motorist or mechanic. Although other alternative heating devices have appeared in recent decades, gradually replacing them in many areas of production, they can still be successfully used in private households to perform the following tasks:

  1. heating the soldering iron and solder;
  2. melting and welding of metals with a low melting point of 900-10000C;
  3. annealing of the old paintwork;
  4. bending metal pipes;
  5. defrosting ice plugs in water pipes and sewerage;
  6. warming up frozen engines and bitumen;
  7. smoldering of skins of cattle;
  8. annealing rusted threaded connections etc.

Use low octane gasoline as fuel. At the same time, it is necessary to fill the tank no more than two-thirds, so that there is room for creating excess air pressure, sufficient to lift the mass of fuel along the guide tube and wick into the evaporator and effectively spray. To obtain this pressure, it is enough to perform 6-10 full swings of the pump piston. At the same time, the movements should not be too sharp so as not to damage its rubber seals.

To heat the burner, you can use part of the lamp fuel, but ethyl alcohol is better for this, which does not leave soot on the body of the device and does not stain your hands. This procedure must be done protected from the wind, but open space. The readiness of the lamp for operation is checked by opening the fuel supply valve. If at the same time a jet of steam comes out of the nozzle, then you can set it on fire with a match or lighter and adjust the torch. If a jet of liquid comes out of the nozzle, then the valve must be closed and the heating process repeated. Several independent attempts to start a blowtorch will help to gain experience and skills in handling the tool.

Video: Blowtorch

By turning the knob for adjusting the position of the locking needle, you can change the amount of fuel supplied to the nozzle and adjust the size of the torch, which must be selected depending on the type of work performed. After starting, the body of the device from the flame will gradually heat up and, accordingly, the air pressure in the tank will increase, which leads to an increase in the torch. After a while, the process will be established, the lamp will fully enter the operating mode, and the flame will stabilize, as can be judged by the even hum of the fire.

To speed up the output of the lamp in the operating mode, you can direct the flame to a nearby steel sheet, which, reflecting heat, will contribute to the rapid heating of the lamp. If during operation the flame spontaneously begins to lose stability or goes out, then you need to close the tap and clean the nozzle with a thin and long needle supplied with the blowtorch. Rapid clogging of the nozzle is possible due to the poor quality of low-octane gasoline.

To complete the work and extinguish the flame, it is necessary to tighten the fuel regulator to failure in order to completely stop its supply. Next, you need to wait for the lamp to cool down, and only after that release the residual pressure in the tank by opening its neck. A blowtorch is a device of increased danger, which, if handled incorrectly, can cause a fire or explosion, since the fuel is in close proximity to an open fire. Therefore, it requires compliance special measures safety and careful handling.

Lamp Safety Precautions

In order to ensure the safety of personnel during the operation of the lamp, it is prohibited:

  • use the device for its intended purpose when detecting a fuel leak;
  • not be used as fuel set by the instruction fuel;
  • allow the tank to heat up to 500C;
  • operate the lamp with a faulty safety valve;
  • refuel while the lamp is on or open the neck when the evaporator is not cooled down;
  • use the lamp in a closed or unventilated area.

Blow Torch Selection Criteria

  1. According to the type of fuel used, blowtorches are kerosene, gasoline and gas. The first two types have a low price, but high heat transfer. Gas appliances lighter in weight and easier to operate, but more expensive.
  2. By the volume of the tank, which determines the duration of work without refueling. The larger the volume, the longer the device can work, but the larger its dimensions and weight. Gasoline lamps are produced with a tank with a capacity of 0.5 to 2 liters, the duration of continuous operation of which is from 25 to 75 minutes.
  3. The presence of a flame regulator allows you to obtain the desired flame temperature, necessary for working with various materials and implementation different types works.

One of the nicest additions to camping gas burners is lamps. This product is an excellent source of light and, in addition, it allows you to heat the tent in the shortest possible time. In this case, it is not necessary to use additional equipment, because the lamp is installed on gas bottle for the burner.

Product Features

A gas lamp is one of the most practical and reliable devices. As standard, any gas lamp provides:

  • Transport case.
  • Spare mesh.

However, this product has its own weak sides, which include:

  • catalytic meshes.
  • Plafonds.

But if necessary, such elements can be easily picked up and purchased at any equipment store.

The principle of operation of a gas lamp

The principle of operation of a gas lamp is quite similar to gas burner. The main difference between these devices is the installation of the head, which is a special rod designed to accommodate a special mesh, which ensures the glow of the lamp. From external influences, the grid is reliably protected by a glass cover and a metal cover, which is attached to the frame of the product. At first glance, it may seem that preparing the lamp for work is not so simple, but in fact there is nothing complicated about it.

Mesh installation rules

Installing a mesh on a gas lamp is quite simple, for this you just need to follow the basic rules. The sequence of actions when installing the mesh:

  1. Installing the lamp on the balloon.
  2. Removing the cover from the lamp and taking out the meshes.
  3. Removing the plafond.
  4. Putting a straightened mesh on the rod of a gas lamp.
  5. Opening the gas control valve.
  6. Firing the installed grid.
  7. Lamp cooling.
  8. Installation of a glass ceiling.
  9. Installing the top cover.

The installation of the mesh has a number of its own characteristics. The mesh must first be straightened and put on until it stops. The lower mesh must be pulled all the way down, and the upper mesh must be pulled up. In some modifications of the lamps, the mesh must be tied in a knot in the area of \u200b\u200bthe lower stop. For such tying, specially designed threads are used, which provide a secure fastening. In addition, attention must be paid to the firing process. When firing the mesh, it is impossible to reduce the gas until the mesh is completely burned and smoke stops coming from it. At this point, the mesh should be firmly fixed on the rod.

How to use the lamp correctly?

In order for the gas lamp to serve you as long as possible and not let you down at the most crucial moment, you must:

  • Transport the lamp only in a special case.
  • Ignite the lamp exclusively with a piezo ignition, matches or a lighter.
  • If the mesh is damaged, it should be replaced.

With careful and correct use lamps for about 10 hours a week, one grid should be enough for 6 months of lamp operation.
