Homemade electric cabbage shredder drawings. Cabbage shredder for every taste: from a knife to a slicer

When preparing vegetables for the winter, pickles occupy a special place. Among them are delicious sauerkraut and pickled cabbage. When processing vegetables at home, you will need a shredder: during the shredding process, it is easy to obtain slices of the same thickness, and you can choose the correct direction for the location of the cut fibers. This will save taste qualities product and contents useful substances.

Cabbage shredding knife

The classic “Housewife” knife and other analogues for cutting vegetables reduce labor intensity and make it possible to quickly process a head of cabbage for subsequent pickling. The device is a steel cleaver with a comfortable handle, on the cutting part of which several blades are installed at a certain angle. A special blade cuts the head of cabbage across the fibers, preserving the juice in the vegetable, and along with it all the useful elements. Using a knife to cut cabbage when chopping vegetables, you can significantly simplify cutting: it happens easily, without additional effort.

Household electric cabbage shredder

In farms, vegetable warehouses or canning shops, a universal electric cabbage shredder is used. It is designed for slicing and chopping root vegetables, vegetables and fruits that have a rigid structure. The cutting is carried out with a special disk knife-grater made of hardened of stainless steel. You can see a photo of the device below. A vegetable cutter for shredding cabbage can cut beets, carrots, apples from 0.5 to 5 mm along the entire length, reducing the amount of processing waste. The height of the blades determines the thickness of the slice.

Manual

Manual shredding is affordable alternative professional cabbage cutter. It has a special grater and chute made of wood or environmentally friendly high-strength plastic, as well as a cutting board. The design is equipped with one or more cutting blades, manually adjustable in tilt and height. Customizable layout allows for grinding in the right sizes. A manual cabbage shredder works great with all hard types of vegetables. The vegetable cutter is affordable, easy to sharpen, washable warm water.

With box

The next option is a wooden cabbage shredder with a box:

  • The device is a housing in which 3-4 blades made of durable tool steel are fixed.
  • The box and board are made of hard rocks wood (beech, oak, ash).
  • The position of the blades can be adjusted manually by raising, lowering them and changing the cutting angle.
  • The cabbage grater does not slip on work surface, and the blade group ensures good performance.

Mechanical

A mechanical cabbage shredder is used to chop vegetables in small volumes. This is a metal or plastic attachment for a meat grinder with a round grater or slicer. By rotating the handle of the device and turning the grater around its axis, you can cut vegetables without tedious back-and-forth movements. This best option household shredder. Mechanical models are equipped with a set of graters with different diameters and shapes of holes.

How to choose a cabbage shredder

To choose the most suitable chopping machine and quickly, safely chop vegetables in required quantities, there are several things to consider important factors. First of all, you need to decide on the type you need:

  • Manual. Making salads, home canning.
  • Mechanical. Chopping vegetables on your farm.
  • Electric. Commercial production of salads, semi-finished products from chopped vegetables.

When choosing this technique, you need to take into account the quality of the cutting blades and the environmental properties of the working surfaces. They will ensure durability and performance. The ability to adjust the blades allows you to change the cutting width. When choosing, preference should be given to designs with cutting board, they will provide proper comfort during their operation.

Sauerkraut is a tasty and healthy product. The most difficult operation in its preparation is chopping. Housewives manage to do this with the help various devices. One of them is powered by an electric motor and has parts and components taken from washing machine, which were produced in Soviet times.

The design of a homemade shredder includes a frame, which is welded using 20x20 mm corners. An electric motor and an additional vertical shaft with a bearing unit located below, carrying the working disk, are installed on it. The last one contains three knives. The front of rotation from the motor to the additional shaft is made of a belt, installing pulleys on them.

The shredder is covered with a body. It has a hole on top and a loading funnel through which cabbage heads are fed to the working disk. Below, under the disk, there is an exit window from which shredded cabbage is poured into a container placed below.

The frame, for convenience, is equipped with four support legs, for the manufacture of which a corner is used. The length of the legs is made different - this is necessary so that the plane of the working disk is inclined to the horizon by 30°. This simplifies the process of loading the funnel with cabbage heads and feeding them to the knives.

The most important part of a homemade shredder is the working disk. It is cut from a sheet of duralumin 2 mm thick. The edges of the disk are edged, bending down a strip 1 cm wide; this gives the part greater rigidity.

Three knives are evenly placed on the disk. They are made from a hacksaw blade or a scythe blade. It is better if they are crescent-shaped in plan, although they can also be made straight.

Mark the installation locations of the knives on the disk. Cut out sickle-shaped windows and push their edges up by 6 mm. On the resulting platforms, sickle-shaped knives are fastened with rivets. To remove the cabbage “noodles” under the disk, opposite installed knives, riveted corners made of duralumin.

The shredder body is made composite. Its lower part covers the working disk and has an exit window through which shredded cabbage pours out. The upper part covers the lower part and has a loading funnel into which cabbage heads are fed for shredding. They are made from a sheet of steel 0.5...0.75 mm thick. The joints are welded. You can use the material of the washing machine body, aluminum sheets. The first is connected with rivets, the second - by rolling the edges of the parts.

The bearing assembly consists of a housing, a shaft, and two bearings No. 80202. It is attached to the frame on a 20x20 mm corner and vertical plate of steel.

The V-belt drive fits from a washing machine. Its tension is ensured by rearranging the electric motor on the frame.

The working element is adjusted by lowering/raising the lower edge of the loading funnel relative to the working disk. Cut thickness in homemade shredder is constant and depends on the design of the working disk and the position of the cutting knives on it.

This trick allows you to chop a head of cabbage for 2…3 minutes. For safety reasons, they should be fed to the working disk using a wooden pestle.

What could be more beautiful than finely shredded sauerkraut or various vegetable salads and dressings for first courses, including borscht, prepared for the winter? And the only thing more beautiful than this can be an electric vegetable shredder, which will help you prepare all these goodies in a matter of minutes, making the housewife’s work as easy as possible, especially if the scale of consumption of products of this type is not small. Today various trade marks They offer a choice of a huge amount of equipment of varying power and configuration, which directly depend on the volume of processing, but the prices, as you know, are “biting”, so if there is a man in the house whose not only his head works well, but also his hands, then You can easily make such a device yourself.

At the same time, you should not be afraid of not coping with the task, because the device of a vegetable shredder is very simple, and the costs of turning this idea into reality will be minimal, because any available means on the farm can easily be used. The most a big problem may arise with an electric motor, which should drive the circular knives, and if it is possible to select a suitable device, borrowing it from some outdated equipment, then the problem can safely be considered half solved. As for the structure itself, it is a welded metal frame on which a motor and a bearing assembly are mounted, designed to rotate the disc blades, which are connected to each other by a belt. The unit itself is placed inside a rigid housing equipped with two holes - an inlet funnel designed for loading vegetables and, accordingly, the outlet itself.

Frame electric vegetable cutter must exactly follow the contours of the metal disk with minimal gaps equal to one or two millimeters. Naturally, it is much easier to adjust the size of the shredding disc itself, which is usually made of durable duralumin steel, at least two millimeters thick. The whole difficulty lies in making three serrated crescent-shaped knives, the sharp edges of which are carefully bent to the side by at least four to six millimeters, and the hole itself, located in the middle of the shredder. The edge of the disk is also processed by grinding, choosing an angle of 90 degrees for this work (the width of the edge is at least 10 millimeters). If it is not possible to make such a product due to the lack of skills or special equipment for turning, then you can order a rotating disk with knives in a workshop or even purchase it at an already finished form for very little money.

In the latter case, you will have to adjust the body of the electric shredder to the purchased knife, which is not very convenient. Alternatively, you can try to make a simplified design of the disk, equipping it with straight knives, instead of complex crescent-shaped slots, but then you should be prepared for the fact that the quality of operation of the finished unit will be noticeably inferior to its more advanced analogue. As for the body of such a shredder, it is best to make it from stainless steel using spot welding. To ensure maximum ease of use, it is ideal to make it from two separate parts - a cylinder with a circular knife placed inside and a removable lid, to which you can attach a large funnel in the form of an inverted truncated pyramid.

This approach will ensure the use of large fruits and timely cleaning of the inside of the body from various types of waste that may interfere with the work process. Alternatively, you can use elements of the drum body from an old one washing machine, which is very convenient and does not require the use of gas welding. The belt drive elements themselves can also be borrowed from a washing machine that has failed. As for the bearing assembly, it is usually made of two bearings, a housing welded to the metal corners of a rigid frame, and a shaft rotating the disk blade. Alternatively, you can attach the unit to the frame by making through holes in the corners of the frame and the body itself, which are ultimately connected with bolts.

Before starting the unit, it is imperative to adjust and adjust the working body and all parts connecting it into a single mechanism. When using an introductory funnel with a mouth that is too wide, you need to be extremely careful when using an auxiliary pestle, because usually such a shredder can chop an entire head of cabbage in a matter of minutes, let alone your fingers.

Good day to all, dear friends! In today's article I would like to show you how to make a fairly relevant this moment homemade So, now the sunset season is in full swing - this is the season when many of us make preparations for the winter from what we grew in the summer at the dacha. Namely, we will look at how to make a cabbage shredder. Many of us love sauerkraut, and many of us know how difficult it can sometimes be to prepare it. One of the problems with preparing cabbage for the winter is chopping it, of course, when you are going to prepare one or two liter jars, you will not have any particular problems with this. But when we are talking about ten three-liter jars, then shredding cabbage forks will be quite problematic, time-consuming and not as neat as it could be with the help of our shredder. This homemade product will have a very simple and primitive design from parts that you will probably find at home, in the country or in the garage. Well, enough of the long prefaces, and let’s start assembling this homemade product. Let's go!

So, for this homemade product you will need:
- Sheet of plywood (1m * 1m).
- Shovel handle.
- Wooden block.
- Round wooden stick 2 pcs (for example from wooden hanger for clothes).
- Furniture nails.
- Self-tapping screws.
- Blades for a stationery knife.
- A couple of washers.

Tools you will also need:
- Hammer.
- Jigsaw.
- Hand jigsaw.
- Ruler.
- Black gel or capillary pen.
- Drill and drill bits.
- Screwdrivers.
- Hot-melt adhesive.
- Stationery knife.

First, let's take a sheet of plywood, on it we should draw a quadrilateral. To do this, we will need a black gel or capillary pen (by using a pen instead of a marker, you will achieve a thinner and more precise outline) and a ruler. The sides of the quadrilateral should be equal to 18 cm and 22 cm. We will need 2 of these quadrilaterals. After we have drawn the drawing using a jigsaw, we cut out our blanks. It should also be noted that on newly made blanks, a hole should be made in the center relative to the top and bottom sides and slightly offset to one of the sides. The diameter of the hole should be equal to the outer diameter of the round stick.

After the above steps, we should do the following. Namely, four racks in order to connect previously made blanks together. For them we need to take wooden block and using a hacksaw to divide it into four equal parts of 14 cm each. After we have made the racks, we will temporarily secure them with hot glue as shown in the photo below, that is, along the edges of the plywood quadrangle.

The next step is to take a cutting of medium diameter and cut off a cylinder from it with a height equal to the height of the posts, in our case it is 14 cm. And in the center of this cylinder we make holes whose diameter will be equal to the diameter of the hole made earlier on the plywood quadrangles, that is, the diameter of the round one you took wooden stick. Next, install the cylinder in the place indicated in the photo so that the holes of the cylinder and the quadrilateral coincide. We will attach it using hot glue.

Then we should take and modify the second plywood quadrangle made earlier. Near the previously made hole, you should draw a rectangle towards the far side, that is, towards the center relative to the sides (see photo). The width of this rectangle should be about 1 cm, and the length should be slightly less than the length of the stationery knife blades you took.

Cut it out, cut it out using hand jigsaw exactly along the drawn contour. And using a utility knife, we bevel one of the sides of just the rectangular hole we made (see photo).

We connect the modified quadrilateral to the previously made workpiece using hot-melt adhesive. Then we knock together the entire structure using furniture nails and twist it with wood screws. This will give us strength and reliability of the structure.

Next we need a blade from a stationery knife. The blade should be secured to the place indicated in the photo (see below). In order for the blade to hold securely, it should be secured using self-tapping screws through metal washers.

Next, we will make the next piece, on which the cabbage will rotate. To do this, cut off a 14 cm piece from a small block slightly smaller than the size of the posts and drill it along the edges as indicated. through holes, the diameter of which will be equal to the outer diameter of the round stick. Insert a round stick into one of the holes made.

Then we will cut out a circle from plywood, the diameter of which will be equal to 5-6 cm with a hole in the center, and the diameter of the hole in the center should be equal to the diameter of the round stick. This part will act as a large wooden washer. And install it in the place indicated in the photo. To ensure that the plywood washer does not rotate, but sits tightly and motionlessly in its place, we strengthen the connection with a pair of furniture nails.

And into the second hole we insert a round stick about 14 cm long; it will act as a handle, which we will hold on to and rotate the cabbage around its axis.

All is ready! All that remains is to test it, to do this we string a head of cabbage onto the axis of the “handle”, set it in place and rotate the head of cabbage clockwise until it runs out. As a result, we got a very simple and useful design, which will certainly be useful for preparing cabbage for the winter.

Thank you all for your attention and good luck with your future DIY projects!

Tasty and healthy product - sauerkraut. Practical housewives It is harvested in the fall both in rural areas and in the city. And the most labor-intensive operation here is chopping the heads of cabbage. They use sharp long knives and special shredders for this. But no manual one can compare in convenience and performance to an electric one, which you can make with your own hands by taking some parts and components from an old washing machine.

The general structure of the electric shredder is simple: an electric motor and a bearing assembly of a working disk with three knives are mounted on a metal frame welded from steel angles 20X20 mm. Rotation is transmitted to it from the engine by a belt drive. The shredder body, enclosing the working disk, has an inlet with a loading funnel and an outlet window. For ease of operation, the frame is installed on support legs welded from steel angles so that the working disk is 30° deflected from the horizontal. This makes it easier to load the funnel and feed the cabbage under the knife.

The most important part of the shredder is the working disk with three knives. It is cut from dur aluminum sheet 2 mm thick. To increase rigidity, its edge is flanged on the floor at a right angle of 10 mm. Having marked the location for installing the knives, three crescent-shaped windows are cut into the disk, and then the edges of the cut are extruded 6 mm above the plane of the disk, as shown in Figure 2. Crescent-shaped knives are installed on the resulting sites on the rivets. Best material for them - a blade from a mechanical hacksaw or a scythe blade. It is somewhat easier to make a straight knife, but a saber knife is better at work. Three duralumin corners riveted on the side of the disk opposite to the knives will help you remove the cabbage “noodles” from under the disk.

The shredder body consists of two parts: a casing of the working disk and a cover with a loading funnel. Both parts can be made either from a steel sheet 0.75 mm thick, connecting the joints by gas welding, or from the material of the washing machine body with aluminum rivets, or from an aluminum sheet with a rolling connection.

1 - loading funnel, 2 - cover, 3 - coupling bolt, 4 - working disk, 5 - frame, 6 - electric motor, 7 - drive pulley, 8 - belt, 9 - working disk casing, 10 - bearing housing, 11 - working disk shaft, 12 - bearing No. 80202.

1 - knife, 2 - disk, 3 - disk hub, 4 - angle, 5 - angle rivets, 6 - knife rivet

1 - working disk, 2 - loading funnel, 3 - adjusting support plate, 4 - knife.

The bearing assembly of the working disk is made up of: a housing, a shaft and two bearings No. 80202. A 20X20 mm angle and a vertical steel plate 3 mm thick are welded horizontally to the housing. Two holes in the bottom flange of the corner are for attaching the unit to the frame, and two in the vertical flange and one in the top plate for connecting protective casing working disk.

The parts of the V-belt reduction transmission from the engine to the working disk are borrowed from a washing machine. The belt tension is regulated by the position of the engine: the grooves of its mounting bolts on the frame allow the center-to-center distance to be changed within small limits.

Adjustment of the working element is reduced to setting a gap of 3-5 mm between the support plate of the feed funnel and the knives, and the thickness of the cut is determined by the design of the working disk: the height of the blades of the knives relative to the disk.

An electric shredder with sharp knives copes with a head of cabbage in a matter of seconds, so to avoid injury, the chopped vegetables should be fed to the rotating disk with a wooden pestle.
