Homemade tattoo machine. Make a tattoo machine at home

Greetings, dear readers of my blog, from the title it is immediately clear what this blog is aimed at and now I want to write detailed instructions About, how to make a homemade rotary tattoo machine.

I don’t want to write a long preface, but I read all the available manuals for creating your own car from scrap materials and, alas, they disappointed me. I think that the instructions should be more understandable for a beginner, so I decided to write it myself, let’s go...

First, let's think about what we need:
1. The motor is ~ 9V.
2. Pen.
3. Clamp.
4. String.
5. Charging from an old phone.
6. Corner.

Let's look at everything in order:
1. The motor may not necessarily be 9V, but this is the most best option. The motor can be bought on the radio market; for example, I got it from an old tape recorder.

2. The handle is the most important element of our machine; it must meet certain requirements. I have tried many types of pens for... creating a rotary tattoo machine and finally found the best option. The pen must be capillary, now a little more...

This is what a capillary pen looks like, as you noticed, it has a metal tip through which the string fits perfectly, which means this is what we need! The price of such a “tool” is not as high as you might think; for example, I bought such a pen for 32 rubles.

3. I bought a clamp for the size of my motor with a small margin, as far as I remember the size of my clamp is 15x20mm, it cost me 15 rubles, pennies to put it simply :)

4. The string is also an important attribute of our car. Before this, I bought the wrong strings and nothing worked for me, because... I took strings in the form of a spring, but I need to buy a string "two"! It is thin and comes in the form of a homogeneous metal wire.

5. I found the charger in my junk, but even if you don’t have an old charger at home, you can easily buy it within 50-100 rubles on a local internet forum.

6. You don’t even have to buy a corner; you can easily find a thin metal plate and make a corner of the size you need from it.

Now I will finally describe how to assemble our miracle unit:

1. We need to completely disassemble our handle:

2. Then make a corner, I made it from construction fasteners, cutting it out like this:

The result is a plate like this:

3. We bend our plate and tape it to the handle with electrical tape:

4. We pass a string through the body of the handle and cut it with a margin, I cut it with metal scissors, it’s probably better to use wire cutters...

5. Now we need to convert the rotational movement of our motor into the translational movement of the string; to do this, using a heated needle, we melt a hole in the plastic tip of the motor into which we insert the string, approximately like this:

6. We attach the motor to the corner with a clamp, like this:

We bend the edge of the string 90 degrees and insert it into the previously melted hole.

7. On the opposite side of the motor, the string should exit through a metal insert:

8. Then I soldered the contacts from the charger to the motor, don’t be afraid to mix up the “+” and “-” - this Not important!

Then I tightened the exposed wires with heat-shrinkable tubes, if you don’t have such tubes on hand, you can use regular electrical tape...

9. Cut the string to desired length. I took the string to the farthest point of the lunge and cut off almost all of it:

10. That's basically it, all that remains is to sharpen it! I recommend using my mother's nail file :). Let's calculate the maximum cost of assembling such a machine...

1. Motor - 100 rubles.

2. Pen - 35 rubles.

3. Clamp - 15 rubles.

4. String - 30 rubles.

5. Charging - 100 rubles.

6. Corner - 10 rubles.

Total 290 rubles.

I will be glad to see your comments, I will answer all questions, write to everyone!

Nowadays, tattoos have become a form of self-expression. This now popular art form allows you to decorate your body with a wide variety of designs. Those who like to draw can make money from this by tattooing other people. Even a homemade machine will do to get started. We invite you to read this article and find out how make a tattoo machine.

Search for machine parts

To begin, find an 18-volt electric motor, or, if you can’t find one, a 12-volt one. According to the standard, a small gear is mounted on the end of the motor. Take any button and attach it super glue to the gear. You need to remember that the 4 holes on the gear should then secure the needle, so the main thing is not to seal these same holes. Give the glue some time to dry.

Motors are easiest to get from toy car or a VCR, but I don’t recommend doing this because they usually only have 2-5 Volts, which is not enough for a tattoo machine.

Pencil/pen for body and more

A pencil or pen will serve as the body of the machine, and its rod will guide the needle.

Any mechanical pencil will work fine for us. Ball pen it will work just as well, but you still need to work with it: take out the ball, blow out all the paste and, if the hole is too small for the needle, widen it.

Bracket

The motor must be attached to the pen or pencil using a bracket. Such a bracket can be made from an ordinary teaspoon, tearing off the part with which you eat and bending the handle into the letter “G”.

Needle

As a needle for our homemade tattoo A metal guitar string will do. Cut a piece of string so that it is slightly larger than the previously made tube.

Assembling a homemade tattoo machine

Connect the bracket with a ballpoint pen.

The bracket, as seen in the photo, is placed with the long part along the handle. Secure this structure with electrical tape. The fastening should be as strong as possible.

Attach the motor with the button in the same way.

Pull the string through the pen/pencil. Bend it at the end into a “P” shape and insert it into the button hole.

Connect the finished machine to power.

For power supply, use any source whose voltage is not lower than that of the motor being used.

All those who love making tattoos and regularly visit the tattoo artist are familiar with the tattoo machine. A professional tattoo parlor uses professional equipment. There are often cases when specialists are received at home. Then they use a homemade machine made at home.

What do you need to make a tattoo machine at home?

Making a tattoo machine yourself is quite simple and does not turn into a tedious and boring assembly process. To do this you will need the following accessories and ingredients:

  • antiseptic (needed for processing)
  • the ink you will use directly to apply the tattoo
  • guitar string
  • regular ballpoint pen
  • piece of wine cork
  • insulating tape
  • folding knife and pliers
  • a toy that is powered by an electric motor

How to make a tattoo machine

It is best to choose a helium writing instrument. This is explained by the fact that the gel is easy to squeeze out of the rod; ink is more difficult to remove.

  • To make the device, you need to disassemble the handle, pulling out the rod and rinsing it thoroughly
  • The cap from it must be cut by a third
  • Creating homemade apparatus, use a toy powered by an electric motor. Separate its housing from the motor itself

The tattoo machine can be different, as intended for individual work, and resemble the one that is created in prison. In the second case, it will be possible to work with it only in company with someone, and not alone, because this design allows one to directly type in the picture, and the other to press the buttons on the control panel.

  • Secure the cap and motor with electrical tape
  • The body of the handle should also be cut to about a third of its length.
  • Then insert this part of the body into the cap, and then the rod into it
  • Next, take a piece of the wine cork and place it on the motor.

  • Cut the string to almost the length of the rod, add 1.5 cm
  • Insert the string into the rod and bend the edge, inserting it into the cork
  • Try to connect it closer to the shaft axis. And this is important, since it directly affects the vibration of the needle, and therefore the quality of the drawing (its accuracy, clarity, and so on)

What to remember?

It is important to learn in advance how to use the device correctly. For example, before each use it is necessary to sterilize the needle. This can be done with alcohol and a lighter.

To get an original tattoo on your body, you don’t have to buy a tattoo machine or go to a tattoo artist for a lot of money. You can make a device such as a tattoo machine with your own hands.

You need

  • Motor holder and power supply (you can use a metal pen clip as a holder).
  • Gel pen.
  • Guitar string (the thinnest).
  • The wire.
  • Motor with a plastic roller (you can take it from the player).

Instructions

  1. Unscrew the gel pen and remove the paint from it. Using a needle, “pick out” the ball from the metal rod. Use a file to file the tip so that the string fits in and can move freely back and forth.
  2. Shorten the handle tube in half for ease of use and save string. Cut off the tube that contained the paint, leaving a piece the same size as the floor of the previous tube. This is done to limit the vibration of the string during operation.
  3. To attach a motor to the tube, you need to take a metal holder from the handle and attach it to the motor with a sketch. Using a hot needle the size of the string, make a small hole in the motor roller (just do it off-center).
  4. Measure the required string length. Using pliers, pull it tight, and then use a lighter to heat it in the place where the future sharp tip should be. When it starts to heat up, it will become thinner and burst. Use a knife sharpening stone to sharpen the string. Insert the string so that the tip protrudes 4 millimeters from the rod, and bend the other end of the string into an L shape and insert it into the hole of the roller. Twist the wires with the micromotor wires and connect to the power supply.

At home, you can make a tattoo machine yourself, if you have all the necessary components, in 15-25 minutes. Before you start working with it, you should adjust it so that the string is tensioned and does not hit anywhere. You should also take a power supply with power regulation in order to increase or decrease the speed of the tool.
