Finishing the ceiling in the country: choose the right one. Beautiful plasterboard ceiling in the living room

Finishing the ceiling in the country with a wooden clapboard

The modern market provides a variety of construction and finishing materials necessary for the improvement of our apartment and cottages. Well, for an apartment, of course, the best thing, but how to finish the ceiling in the country? Of course, you can also make a country cottage at the highest level, but funds do not always allow, so we will consider two relatively inexpensive similar options.

Ceiling finish options

We will try to figure out how to make a ceiling with our own hands in the country from slatted panels and wooden lining. Moreover, the installation method of the latter facing material similar to the installation of another lining - MDF panels and PVC (see).

Slatted ceilings

  • Installation of any suspension device begins with markings. Therefore, we arbitrarily choose the depth of the ceiling and put a mark on the wall, and then transfer it to every corner of the room.

  • Between the marks you need to draw a control line. This can be done with a choline (paint cord). The thread is pulled back and abruptly released, after which an even, clear mark remains on the wall.

  • Along the control line of the perimeter, you need to install a wall corner. To do this, we drill a profile after 40-50 cm and transfer these holes to the wall. You can drill both the corner and the wall at the same time, but this requires some experience.

  • We are considering how to make a ceiling in the country and proceed to install stringers. Make the profile 5mm shorter, taking into account the shelves of the cornice and the need for a little play. The distance between the stringers is 70-120cm, and between the suspensions - 50-70cm.
  • The stringer is attached using long screws with dowels or wire hangers, which are also attached to dowels and screws. classic size dowels for such work are a diameter of 6mm and a screw 4-5mm thick. For screws 100-120mm, also use the same dowels, because it does not perform the function of a console - it is just a gasket between the screw and the solid body.
  • Make sure that the profiles are fixed exactly at the level of the plane; for this, during installation, you need to apply building rule or long level. Also, the ceilings for giving can be leveled with a nylon thread, pulling it under the frame. The thread can be fixed with self-tapping screws screwed into the horizontal shelves of opposite cornices.

  • Laths are cut by analogy with stringers, 5mm shorter than the distance from wall to wall. Installation can be started from any edge of the ceiling or from its middle. For lighting fixtures embedded in panels, you should immediately make holes with a cutter or scissors for metal (note that the hole is located in the center of the rail, relative to its width - this will not violate the stiffness profile).

  • We are finishing making the ceiling in the country house with our own hands from the rails and filling the gaps between the panels with special inserts. It remains only to connect the lamps. Such a ceiling will serve for a very long time, and you may not look at it for several decades (additional information -)

Recommendation. After installing the frame, immediately make the wiring and communication communications that will be in the ceiling sinus. Hide all the wires in a corrugated pipe and attach it to the beams.

In any case, the ceiling country house will be illuminated, so bring the ends for connection through the holes in the panels. You can make loops on the wire together with the hose - after cutting the extra pieces of the corrugation, remove it with scissors for metal, pulling it to the desired limit.

Wooden panel ceiling

  • Mark the perimeter of the room in the same way as in the case of slatted ceiling . We have already decided how to upholster the ceiling in the country house - a wooden clapboard, so we will do without a wall profile. Now we need to make a frame of wooden slats.

  • We will fix the slats with U-shaped tape suspensions, which, in turn, we will fix on the main ceiling or beams. The suspension itself is installed on self-tapping screws or screws with dowels at two points. The distance between the pawns is no more than 50-60 cm, and if the rail is not quite even, then the step must be reduced as needed.

  • Reiki are usually used with a thickness of 20-25mm, but it can be thicker, but this will be an overrun of the material. If we decide what to make the ceiling in the country house from, then all the material should be prepared in advance in order to avoid such cost overruns. The rails are attached to the hangers with wood screws 25mm long.
  • The distance between the rails should not exceed 60cm, and the two extreme profiles must be hung close to the wall, sometimes even fixing them to the vertical with long self-tapping screws. To level the plane, you can use the building rule, but it is best to pull a nylon thread under the frame, along which the slats will align.
  • By the way, at this stage, you can think again about how to sheathe the ceiling in the country. The frame we made is suitable for any lining - PVC, MDF, and wood. But, we have already decided to mount wooden panels, so we continue.

  • Wooden lining, just like MDF, is attached to kleimers, which are sold in a package along with 20mm carnations. But it is better to use not them for fastening the kleimers, but small self-tapping screws.
  • First, a panel is installed, which is screwed along the edge with self-tapping screws, taking into account that they will be blocked by a ceiling plinth. Kleimers are put on the lower side of the chamfer of the lining and screwed (nailed) to the frame. Then the next panel is inserted and also fixed with clamps.
  • Between the ceiling and the wall there is a gap that overlaps ceiling plinth . All recommendations for electrical equipment for wooden ceilings remain the same as for the rack.
  • The last panel is cut to the desired width with a jigsaw and installed in the same way as the first - it is screwed from the wall with self-tapping screws. Try to get the screws as close to the wall as possible so that the ceiling plinth blocks them.

Advice. The ceilings in the country house made of wood must either be painted or varnished. Any painting work should be done at the end of installation, so as not to clog the chamfer with paints and varnishes.

Conclusion

We considered the device of two types of ceilings, but at the same time omitted their insulation, because this is a separate issue. You can insulate the ceiling for a summer residence with mineral wool, polystyrene, foil polyethylene foam, while adding a hydrobarrier (more details -). In addition, ceilings can also be insulated from the side of the attic, falling asleep with expanded clay.

Particular attention and additional efforts are required to equip a durable and beautiful ceiling in the country. Even if a country house is used only in the warm season, high-quality finishing material and reliable insulation are needed. It is a question not only of comfort, a cosiness and preservation of heat. How to make a ceiling in the country, because this is a paramount condition for maintaining the integrity and long-term use of a country house?

First of all, you need to decide how to finish the ceiling in the country. This will support the main interior design line, create comfortable conditions in the interior of a residential building, to strengthen the structure as a whole.

In an unheated brick or wooden house the ceiling is better to finish natural materials. This will ensure good air circulation and create a pleasant microclimate during indoor areas house. It could be:

  1. lining made of wood;
  2. moisture resistant drywall;
  3. MDF panel;
  4. stretch ceiling made of textiles.

If you have a reliable ventilation system, you can use a denser finishing material. It could be:

  1. plastic;
  2. PVC panel;
  3. ceiling tiles.

The required amount of material is determined by the total surface area. In case of accidental damage, you will need a small margin.

In addition to the basic finish, you also need to purchase:

  • beam ceiling;
  • fasteners - screws, nails, brackets, etc.;
  • insulation;
  • waterproofing agent;
  • protective coating - varnish, etc.

A specific kit is determined after all finishing options have been considered and a specific finishing material has been selected.

To make a ceiling in the country with your own hands, you will need the following set of working tools:

  • electric drill;
  • saw type "Bulgarian";
  • hammer;
  • sharp technical knife;
  • screwdriver;
  • construction roulette;
  • container for mixing the compositions used;
  • construction mixer;
  • rags, work clothes, helmet.

After everything you need is prepared, you can begin to finish the ceiling.

Preparatory work

Finishing the ceiling in the country begins with the preparation of the work surface. If the building is new and the ceiling is being built for the first time, it is necessary to check that the roofing cake, ceilings and other necessary structures were completely finished. Then you need to mount and carefully lay all communications.

Before starting re-finishing, it is necessary to inspect all ceiling structures. All damaged items must be repaired or replaced.

Treat wood with a special compound to protect against mold and moisture. Coat metal structures with a substance that prevents corrosion and rust.

It is not necessary to remove the old finish. Especially if it's secure. This issue is resolved after determining what the new ceiling will be made of. Many modern finishing materials can be mounted on top of the old coating.

How to choose a lining and sheathe the ceiling with it?

Lining for a long time remains perhaps the most popular material for hemming ceilings, walls and other surfaces in residential premises. This material is produced in the form of panels of various lengths, thicknesses and qualities of the source material. All these indicators determine the cost of lining and allow you to choose the most suitable option.

With each other, the individual elements of the lining are fastened using a tenon-groove system. When buying this material, you must carefully examine the perimeters of all elements. The slightest chips, cracks, protruding knots make it difficult to work with lining and can significantly worsen the final result.

How to make a ceiling from lining? To hem the lining, it is necessary to build a frame from wooden beam. Since the final design will have a significant specific gravity, the minimum cross-section of the beam should be 35x35 mm.

First, the main beams around the perimeter of the room are attached to the ceiling. For this, only metal elements are used - brackets or anchors. Installed bars must be carefully aligned.

Lathing belts are installed between the main beams.

For leveling individual elements a nylon thread or a thin cord attached to the main frame is used.

Installation step - 0.5 m. As a result, you get solid construction, to which it will be possible to hem the lining.

To fix the finishing elements on the frame and connect them to each other, clamps and self-tapping screws are used. The kleimer is installed in the groove. With a self-tapping screw, the lining is attracted to the beam.

To cut the lining evenly, an electric jigsaw and / or a circular saw. To align the corners and edges of the elements, it is better to use a miter saw. When the ceiling sheathing is completed, the lining must be coated with a protective varnish. You can color it if you wish.

Thick plywood finish

A plywood ceiling is an inexpensive, durable and easy to install structure. To fasten individual sheets, it is necessary to assemble a crate from rack elements. Screws are used as a fastener.

First, the ceiling is marked and the location of the individual rails that make up the crate is determined. Using a tape measure, you need to find the center of the surface. From this point, the location of the parts is determined. The slats are attached in such a way that 2 adjacent sheets can be sewn to each of them.

The sheet is applied to the crate and leveled. Its edge must run exactly along the center line of a particular rail. You need to hem the plywood to the crate with screws. The step of their installation is no more than 20 cm.

Drywall option

Drywall allows you to make the insulated ceiling in the country not only smooth, but also multi-level with curly elements. A self-made ceiling made of this material will last a long time. Especially if you choose a waterproof drywall for its arrangement.

The crate is made of load-bearing and wall metal profiles. It is installed according to the pre-marked work surface.

First, a wall profile is attached to the metal anchors along the perimeter of the room. The main lathing belts are installed parallel to the intended direction of laying drywall sheets. To avoid mistakes, it is necessary to make preliminary markings by drawing lines on the ceiling every 0.6 m.

The next step is the installation of direct suspensions. With their help, the profile elements will be securely fixed. Hanger installation step - from 0.9 to 1.1 m.

The main elements of the crate must be inserted end-to-end into the wall profile. In this case, the middle of the element must be combined with the preliminary markup. A level is used for leveling. Profiles are connected using self-tapping screws.

The transverse parts of the crate are placed every 0.5 m. For their attachment to the main elements, the so-called "crabs", i.e. 1-level connecting elements, are used.

Drywall must be cut in advance using a sharpened knife. Then the individual sheets are attached to the ceiling crate. This is done with screws. The required rod length is 25 mm.

How to sheathe the ceiling with decorative panels

To sheathe the ceiling in the country, you can use. They are made from durable wood. To protect against fungus, mold, etc., a special treatment is carried out.

The standard size of individual MDF elements is 24 by 26 cm, so working with such material is easy.

The result is a long-lasting coating that is easy to maintain during operation.

Mounting MDF or plastic panels is carried out identically to sheathing the ceiling with clapboard. The crate is made of timber or slats.

MDF panels are attached to the crate with clamps no more than 2 mm. Plastic elements are connected to the slats or bars of the crate with a construction stapler.

Stretch fabric

Modern finishing materials make it possible to use textile or film coatings for arranging a stretch ceiling. This makes it possible to give the surface original look. Design options stretch ceilings so many. You can choose for every taste.

Textile stretch ceilings in the country house are breathable, resistant to accidental mechanical damage material. Ceiling fabrics withstand large temperature differences. This is important if the country house does not have a heating system.

Ceiling film - elastic, easy-care material. Protection against extraneous sounds and smells - at the highest level.

Insulation of the ceiling in the country

Making the ceiling country house, we should not forget about how to insulate the ceiling in the country. Especially if the building is used all year round.

To insulate the country ceiling, you can use material such as:

  1. expanded clay;
  2. mineral wool;
  3. Styrofoam.

For insulation with expanded clay, it is necessary to mount a special formwork. much easier to install, but there is a high risk of mold when using them.

Mineral wool is considered a very convenient and reliable material. It can help you insulate your country house. At the same time, the cost and complexity of the process are quite small.

Insulation can be laid outside, i.e. on non-residential attic or in the attic. For this, a layer of waterproofing is first laid.

Mineral wool is laid between the components of the frame. On top of it you need to carefully lay and secure protective film. Next, a flooring from the floorboard is attached on top of the frame. This will protect the insulation from damage and allow you to move around the room. If weights are stored in the attic, the crate must be reinforced with additional bars. Linoleum can be used to cover wooden flooring.

The popularity of country houses is steadily growing. Often these are cozy buildings with a garden and a gazebo, to interior decoration which have special requirements. High-quality materials are used for cladding walls, floors, ceilings, allowing you to fully enjoy your vacation. But not everyone is aware of how to finish the ceiling in the country, but meanwhile there are a lot of materials that allow it to be sewn up and decorated with high quality. The choice is made taking into account their aesthetic and technical features.

Material selection

When considering how to make a ceiling in the country, you must carefully consider the choice of material for its decoration. Consider its breathability, durability, resistance to temperature fluctuations, cost, moisture resistance and other features. This allows you to create a comfortable microclimate in the room.

Figure 1 Country house.

In the absence of stable ventilation, it is not recommended to finish the ceiling in your country house. artificial materials- they practically do not pass air. Wanting to achieve greater practicality and environmental friendliness, opt for drywall. You can finish it with a lining that allows you to maintain in the house comfortable temperature and humidity.

The best finishing materials

Currently, there is an extensive selection of finishing materials. This allows you to decide what is best to make the ceiling in the country. Most popular:

  1. Lining - made from various types of wood and is a solid board with side grooves for fastening. , it should be somewhat "lowered", since it is attached to the crate.
  2. Drywall - made from thin paper sheets and gypsum by pressing. Allows you to achieve a perfectly flat surface of the ceiling of a country house, on which you can apply acrylic, water-based paint, plaster.
  3. MDF panels - made from wood chips mixed with certain additives and pressed under great pressure. They increase heat and sound insulation, are distinguished by durability, aesthetics and beauty.
  4. Plastic panels - made from artificial durable, inexpensive materials resistant to high temperature, moisture and low maintenance.

The materials listed above allow you to make a ceiling in the country with your own hands. To do this, it is necessary to follow the technology of installation of the structure and have all necessary tools. Having made the ceiling yourself, you will save a lot, because the services of specialists will cost a pretty penny.

clapboard

Finishing the ceiling in the country can be done with a clapboard, which is a panel of a whole board with grooves for fastening on the sides, the length of which is from 2 to 6 m, the width is 96 mm, the thickness is from 10 to 20 mm. The cost of this finishing material depends on the type of wood, the complexity of the section of the board, and humidity.

Figure 2 Clapboard lining.

The lining is divided into several classes: "Extra", A, B, C, the most expensive and high-quality - "Extra" (the wood used has no knots and other defects).

In class A and B lining, there is a small error (they are made of wood with light knots) and, accordingly, their cost is lower than the Extra class. Class C lining, the cheapest and low quality (made of wood with black knots and blackouts).

Drywall

Country ceilings are often finished with plasterboard, because despite its solid weight, it a good option for finishing the ceiling in the country. Drywall - convenient and allows you to make a workpiece of the desired shape.

There are varieties resistant to moisture, which is indispensable in country houses, the humidity in which is usually higher than in apartments. In addition, drywall is not subject to deformation during temperature changes. Fastened with screws or self-tapping screws.

The main disadvantage of finishing the ceiling with drywall is the high cost. After all, you will need not only the material itself (the cost of which is small), but also metal guides for the manufacture of the frame to which it is attached, as well as materials for finishing.

MDF panels

Ceilings in the country are often made of MDF panels - a versatile material suitable for decorating any room. They are:

  1. Veneered - made from natural wood veneer obtained by peeling or planing.
  2. Laminated - upper layer which is made from PVC film applied by cold lamination. This increases moisture resistance, resistance to mechanical damage.

MDF panels are painted with special paints that increase their strength, durability and attractiveness. made from this, long time keeps an attractive look and is easy to clean.

PVC panels

Thinking about what is better in the country, you can opt for plastic panels, which are moisture resistant, reliable, resistant to temperature extremes and practical. Surface maintenance is simple and does not require much time and effort.

According to aesthetic features given material inferior, for example, to drywall, but has a lower cost and fast installation speed, as a result of which it is quite popular. The service life of high-quality plastic panels is about 50 years. Length - from 2.7 to 6 m, and width - from 13.5 to 50 cm. Fastening is done with clamps.

Warming

When deciding how to insulate the ceiling in the country, you should choose the most suitable material for this purpose. Suitable as a heater:

  • Polyfoam - moisture resistant, lightweight, fire resistant, inexpensive, with excellent sound and heat insulation properties.
  • Ecowool - has good thermal insulation, affordable cost and filling all the free space.
  • Karamzit - made from clay and resistant to low temperatures.
  • Mineral wool - has a low hygroscopicity, long term operation and resistance to fire.

Consider environmental friendliness, durability and other features of the materials used for insulation, because they should not interfere with the normal circulation of steam. Care should also be taken to prevent moisture from entering the insulation.

There are many options for how to sheathe the ceiling and which one to choose is up to you. By choosing the right material, you will achieve attractiveness and first-class operational properties surfaces.

Interior decoration country house Sometimes it requires no less labor costs than repairing an apartment.

It is better to do it immediately with high quality and beautifully than quickly and from the cheapest materials. In the latter case, it will be necessary to make repairs in a year, or even earlier. Today we will devote time to such a type of work as finishing the ceiling in the country. In this case, it is very important to decide on the material used, as well as to clearly understand the technology of work if you decide to do everything yourself.

We will cover all the main points of this issue, which will allow you to take a broader look at the full range of ceiling finishes.

How to finish the ceiling in the country? Choosing the right building material

In most cases, a country house - wooden structure, the ceiling of which has beam ceilings. As a result, the surface is not even, but with protruding beams.

Depending on the interior design, you can leave everything as it is, just treat the surface with special paints and varnishes or paint. As a result, you will get a relief ceiling that looks natural and beautiful, in country style.

In addition, the choice of material depends on many factors.. For example, how often will the house be heated, do you make the ceiling in the kitchen or in the bedroom. And if you also have such a luxury in the country as a bathroom, then these are already their own environmental conditions (high humidity).

In a wooden house you can make stretch ceilings. Their advantage is that they can withstand negative temperatures and do not change their properties under the influence of moisture. And for houses that are not heated in winter, dampness is the main enemy.

You can also finish the ceiling plastic panels or plastic lining. However, plastic is a poorly breathable material, under which mold can appear, although today the development of industry has made it possible to produce environmentally friendly plastic that is safe for the health of others.

If your house is dry all year round, and winter temperatures are within the normal range, then the choice of finishing materials is wider.

For example, you can beat the ceiling with drywall. This will give him flat surface. And already on top, apply paint or glue wallpaper. There is one for sale today a large number of wallpapers, different in quality, design and price, so that you can easily choose the option that suits you. Installation will not require you to spend a lot of effort, time and money.

Instead of drywall, you can sheathe the ceiling in a country house with plywood.

Ceiling whitewash- a very budgetary method, which is still inferior in terms of decorativeness and durability to the previous options. In addition, it looks good only on a flat surface.

Also you can do suspended ceiling . Perfect for these purposes wooden lining. This material is used both and ceilings. The room immediately becomes cozy and warm. Clapboard trim is also an environmentally friendly solution, because wood is a natural material.

It is also worth considering that suspended and tension structures will reduce the height of the ceiling. The same effect occurs when using materials dark colors. If you want to visually raise the ceiling, make it light.

Do-it-yourself ceiling decoration in a private house

If you chose drywall for finishing with subsequent painting or wallpapering, then you do not need to additionally process work surface. It is enough to remove the old coating, if any. The sheet itself is quite heavy, so installation should be done by at least two people.

Also, before starting work, it is necessary to check the beams for strength, mold, process them from it and from insects that can settle in a tree. Then, knowing the perimeter of the ceiling, you need to pick up sheets of such a size that they do not have to be cut if possible.

They must be positioned so that the long edge runs across the beam, and the joints on the short side are staggered with the adjacent row. It is also necessary to fix intermediate spacers around the entire perimeter of the ceiling (thickness 5 cm), which will serve as a support for the long side of the drywall.

You need to start fastening the sheets from the corner of the room. For this, galvanized nails are used. I begin to nail them from the center to the edges with an interval of 15 cm. This will avoid sagging drywall.

The next step will be priming the surface and sealing the joints with special mixtures. After that, you can start painting or pasting.

The next popular option is clapboard trim.. Before work, it is necessary to varnish it or treat it with an antifungal solution. Then a crate of beams (about 30 mm thick) is mounted on the ceiling, and the surface must be leveled before that.

Wooden lining is fixed to the bars with self-tapping screws. You can also use a special stapler. Plastic lining has special grooves, with the help of which the elements are connected to each other. It is also attached to the crate with screws and nails. The seams must be treated with sealant.

Both considered options have an empty distance between the working ceiling and the new surface. This will allow you to easily insulate the ceiling before finishing it, for which you must first lay thermal insulation material (mineral wool, ecowool and others).

It is usually laid between the lags of the ceiling, and the vapor barrier is still attached from below, and the waterproofing from above. All this is sewn up with a finishing ceiling.
