Tulip installation. Methods for installing typical sinks and moidodyr. How to install a tulip type washbasin

The problem of how to install a tulip sink with your own hands is solved easier than it might seem at first glance. Installation technology is simple and affordable home master with minimal plumbing skills. It is only important not to make a mistake with the size and location.

Required Tools

In order not to be distracted during the installation process, it makes sense to prepare before starting work:

  • drill or perforator;
  • laser builder or building level;
  • pencil or marker;
  • kit wrenches and screwdriver;
  • silicone sealant.

In addition, you will need fasteners (plastic stoppers) as well as sealants for threaded connections (fumlent, but linen with a special paste is better).

Step by step installation instructions

Installation begins with determining the location for the sink. At the same time, it makes sense to pick up the bowl itself and physically attach it to the wall in the planned place. It is necessary to take into account not only ergonomics, but also the availability of connections to water supply and sewerage. It is also worth considering that the height of the tulip washbasin can be increased by installing it on an additional pedestal, but lowering the bowl below the leg length will not work.

The procedure for installing the sink is as follows:

  1. Using the builder or building level a horizontal line is drawn on the wall corresponding to the required height of the sink.
  2. The bowl is applied at the place of installation, after which, through the mounting eyes, the points of installation of the brackets in the wall are marked with a marker. If the design of the washbasin does not allow this, then the location of the brackets is calculated taking into account the offsets from the edges of the bowl. In such cases, the mounting scheme is additionally given in the documentation.
  3. Holes are drilled in the wall, plastic plugs are hammered into them.
  4. Brackets screw in. In this case, the thickness of the shell walls should be taken into account.
  5. The washbasin is hung on the brackets.
  6. I focus on the center of the bowl, a pedestal (leg) is installed.
  7. A siphon is placed on the sink and connected to the sewer. In some tulip models, this step must precede the installation of the pedestal.
  8. The mixer is mounted and connected to the water supply line. Threaded connections it is desirable to compact with fumlent or flax with a special paste.

After completing the installation, it makes sense to go silicone sealant line of junction of the sink with the wall. This will prevent dampening of the wall under the washbasin due to dripping water.

The cheapest and easiest way to install a tulip sink is to do all the work with my own hands. The process will take a minimum of time and will not require special skills.

We have already talked about the popular model of shells, called "tulip" because of the resemblance to this beautiful flower, which gives it a long pedestal, reminiscent of a tulip stem.

The design of the sink not only looks very aesthetically pleasing in any bathroom interior, but is also very practical. Thanks to its “leg”, the sink is securely fixed and even if you lean on it, it will not fall, as the force will be transferred to the support and then to the floor.

In addition, in the pedestal (this is the correct name for the leg of the tulip shell) you can place flexible hot and cold water pipes, as well as a corrugation or siphon for drainage waste water from the sink to the sewer.

Installing a tulip sink is not particularly difficult, and you can easily perform all the necessary operations yourself if you use the tips given in this article.

Different tulip shell designs - which one to choose?

Despite the external similarity, sinks of this type still have some differences in their design, which you should be aware of before buying.

The cheapest models have one hole for draining water and one hole for installing a faucet.

This design is the most simple and quite convenient to install and operate.

But, if you are planning to decorate the bathroom interior in a style that uses retro elements, then you may need a sink, where, in addition to the tap hole, there will also be two holes for hot and cold water faucets. Pay attention to this.

You should also think in advance - do you need an overflow? On the one hand, it is quite convenient if you wash something in the sink, drawing water into it by plugging the outlet. This will prevent flooding in the bathroom.

But if you do not plan to regularly draw water into the sink, then you can completely do without overflow. Moreover, its presence only complicates the system of discharge pipelines, and also creates additional inconvenience when cleaning with a plunger in case of blockage, when you have to tightly plug the overflow hole.

You also need to decide on the height of the sink, color and design.

If you have decided on the design and have already bought the model you need, then you can proceed directly to the installation.

Let's see how the tulip sink is installed step by step with a photo.

Required tool

For installation you will need the following tool:

  • roulette;
  • screwdriver;
  • electric drill;
  • wrench;
  • open-end wrenches;
  • pliers;
  • punch;
  • drill for concrete;
  • tile drill (if there are tiles on the wall);
  • hammer;
  • level;
  • silicone sealant.

Installation of a sink with a pedestal (tulip)

Installation begins with marking the places where the sink is attached to the wall.

To do this, put the sink on your leg and mark the holes.

But before that, you need to completely assemble all the fittings attached to the sink in order to do the fitting taking into account the entire "body kit". Attach a faucet, flexible hoses, siphon outlets or corrugation to the sink. This will determine whether it will be convenient enough to connect to the connection points of existing water supply and sewerage networks.

The outlet is fastened through the gasket with a screwdriver, tightening the screw on the stainless steel divider grill, which serves to trap large debris.

After that, a faucet, outlet fittings and connections are screwed to the sink.

The leg (pedestal) of the sink is placed against the wall where the sink will be located.

A sink with fittings screwed to it is installed on the leg. In the process of fitting, it is advisable to check the horizontal installation of the rear wall of the sink using a hydraulic level.

After that, we check whether all the inlets and outlets can freely reach the points of connection. If necessary, you should immediately make adjustments - move the sink or use a different length of inlet / outlet.

After that, using a soft pencil, you should mark on the wall the location of the mounting holes in the ceramic body of the sink from the side of the tailgate. In these places, you will need to drill a wall, insert dowels into the holes made and screw in the studs that will fix the sink to the wall.

When the installation sites are marked, with the help of a core, a light blow of a hammer on the wall marks the drilling site.

If the core is not at hand, you can use a drill with a carbide tip.

If tiles are laid on the wall, be very careful not to split them. In this case, you can use the tips from the article How to drill tiles and stick thick tape at the drilling sites to prevent the drill from slipping at the beginning of drilling.

After that, you need to drill holes to the desired depth. If the wall is tiled, you must first go through the tile with a special pen drill, and then continue drilling by rearranging the carbide-tipped drill and turning the drill into impact mode.

When the holes are ready, dowels are inserted into them.

After that, using an adjustable or open-end wrench of a suitable size, you need to tighten the studs:

Everything, metal threaded studs are screwed into the wall and you can screw the sink to them.

The leg is placed at the place of installation on the floor, and the sink is installed on the leg, putting on metal studs sticking out of the wall.

The sink is fixed to the studs with nuts through elastic gaskets. The nuts should be tightened very carefully so that the faience does not burst at the attachment point from excessive force. As soon as the nut begins to go with effort, stop tightening.

In addition, when tightening the nuts, you need to tighten them in turn - a little first, then the second, then again a little first, then again a little second, and so on. The same method of tightening the nuts is used when installing the toilet bowl - it is fixed to the floor in exactly the same way by tightening the nuts one by one. This allows you to more evenly distribute the resulting forces in the body of a fragile plumbing fixture and prevent the appearance of cracks.

Special caps are put on the nuts to prevent debris from entering and preventing metal corrosion. Under the caps, you can smear a little grease. In this place, no one will see him, and if necessary, remove the sink, the nuts can be easily unscrewed even after a year, as if you screwed them yesterday.

Today, the market for sanitary equipment offers a huge variety of different models of sinks. Just some time ago, you could only find standard shells of the usual form of white color. Today, when repairing a bathroom, you can not limit yourself to anything and purchase a sink of any shape, color and design. A unique model is the Tulip sink.

Not only does it look great, but it also has excellent performance. Tulip washbasins were known in our country back in Soviet times, but then they were not so elegant, creative and original. The design of that time practically did not change, but the development of technology made it possible to use various materials and apply original design methods. Thus, today the tulip shell can become interesting element interior.

Sink tulip and her choice

Shell Tulip with beautiful name consists of two elements: a pedestal and the washbasin itself. The pedestal is necessary in order to support the sink, to take on the entire load. The pedestal also has an aesthetic function: it hides sewer pipes, a siphon and other not-so-pretty details. The tulip will make the bathroom more compact, give the interior a certain prestige and respectability. Also, due to its aesthetic qualities, such a sink will emphasize any layout in a favorable light.

When choosing a Tulip sink, you need to focus on the size of the room, that is, your bathroom. It is also necessary to take into account the location sewer pipes and other plumbing equipment. You also need to take into account the distance to the supply of sewer pipes from the floor level and the width of the pedestal itself.

In some cases, you will also have to buy drain valve, it is usually not included. It is very good if the equipment has an overflow system. This will protect you from emergencies and minimize the risk of flooding your neighbors from below.

If the plan includes overhaul, in which you will completely change the pipeline, channels, eyeliners, and so on, then there is no significant difference - just buy the option you like the most. But do not forget, before making a purchase, measure all the distances so that the Tulip sink fits you in size and looks concisely in the restroom.

Tulip washbasin installation

The design is simple and does not include complex elements. Therefore, installing a tulip sink in the bathroom will not be difficult, it does not require special professional knowledge or skills. Let's describe everything in order.

First of all, we need to prepare the tools that we will need. This is a screwdriver, keys, a drill, and if there is also a drill, a hammer, plugs, a level and a dowel.

After everything you need is ready, we start marking the place where we will make holes in the wall. Please note that they must clearly correspond to the holes in the pedestal. With the help of the holes made, fasteners for the tulip sink will be carried out.

After that, we fix the siphon on the bolts to the rack. WITH wrong side the siphon is fastened with a mesh with a special gasket. In this case, it is necessary to achieve a high degree of tightness.

The next step is to install the tulip bowl itself, which is carried out on the tie bolts. And then we mount the pedestal in the center of the bowl. Don't forget about the outlet of the siphon hose. This corrugated hose is discharged into drain pipe with a special approach.

After the bowl and pedestal are installed, we proceed to fix the entire structure to the wall. Fixing and final fastening is carried out using washers and bolts.

To achieve the tightest connection between the Tulip shell and the wall, as well as to minimize the possibility of leaks, you can treat all joints with a transparent silicone sealant.

AND The final stage installations - connection mixer to the sewer pipe system. If you follow these instructions and do everything right, installation will not take you much time.

How to disassemble the Tulip shell

In some cases, it is necessary to change the pipes, or any plumbing equipment hidden behind the pedestal. To do this, first turn off the water in the apartment. To check if the water is really shut off, open the faucet.

After that, the sink bowl is dismantled. But the bowl cannot be removed until the drain is removed. Therefore, first the siphon is carefully removed, then the drain, and only then the sink is removed. Next, they remove the pedestal from its place and already dismantle the remaining plumbing.

Please note that even after turning off the water in the apartment, it may remain in the siphon. It also accumulates dirt. Therefore, before removing the siphon, place a bucket under it so as not to stain the floor and walls.

As you can see, the Tulip sink is easy to operate and does not require special professional knowledge for installation and dismantling. Besides, this design excellent appearance strength, reliability and durability.

Adviсe

To install a tulip sink, it is not necessary to invite plumbers. You can do it yourself, and this article will tell you how to install a tulip sink yourself.

Before buying such a sink, you need to make some calculations. Namely: accurately measure the distance from the floor to the water supply valves. Usually the height is 80cm. Be sure to turn off the main hot and cold water valves before starting installation.

Then you need to attach the sink to the wall and mark where the mounting bolts will be located. In the marked places, make holes with a drill and insert dowels there. Then install the sink "with a leg" and tighten the nuts. After that, connect the mixer and siphon. Installation of the tulip sink is identical to the installation of a conventional sink.

Sink-tulip and its installation

The place where the sink will be located must be determined even before all the final work is carried out. It is also necessary to decide on the device for the outlet of sewer pipes and the supply of water under the sink.

After the freshly laid tile dries, you can proceed with the installation of the sink.

Initially, you need to attach the washbasin to the pedestal, and then start fitting at a pre-planned installation site. After fitting, it is necessary to mark the location of the mounting holes on the wall located under the sink with a pencil. It is better to climb under the sink itself, in a different position it is extremely difficult to determine the exact location.

After that, you can move the sink to the side and start drilling holes for the mounting studs. The drill diameter must absolutely match the diameter of the plastic dowels. Plastic dowels usually come with the installation kit. This set can be purchased at any nearby plumbing store.

No need to delay buying drain siphon for the sink, it is better to buy everything you need at once and in one store. After the dowels are clogged, we proceed to twist the studs. It is on these studs that the washbasin will be attached. Now you need to put on the compensating pads and firmly tighten the nuts.

Everything must be done very carefully, a little more force and the shell will break. When installing the siphon, make sure that the rubber rings do not move out. The outlet sleeve of the siphon is inserted into the outlet of the sewer.

Characteristics

To install a new sink in the bathroom or in the kitchen, it is not necessary to call plumbers. In a couple of tricks, you can install the sink alone.

Before buying a new tulip sink, all important measures and dimensions taken should be taken into account, namely: the degree of wear of the old sink, the width of the new sink itself, at what height to install the sink, the distance of the bottom of the new sink to two water supply valves. Make measurements accurately.

For the subsequent installation of the sink, you must purchase full set dowels, fastening bolts, a siphon for water drainage and a mixer.

Close the main cold and hot water shut-off valves before installing the sink.

We dismantle the old sink: disconnect the siphon, unscrew the water supply hoses and remove the mixer. We dismantle the washbasin.

Attach the new sink to the wall (or mount it on a counter) and mark where the mounting bolts will be located.

Drill holes and hammer in plastic dowels of the required size.

Insert the threaded screws into the pre-drilled holes in the wall, then install the sink with the counter and tighten with nuts and washers.

Connect the mixer with a flexible water supply to the pipes and install a siphon.

Seal the gap between the sink and the wall with silicone around the entire perimeter. When dry, check again that the new sink is firmly fixed to the wall.
