Electrolux ventilation unit. Electrolux air handling units of the STAR EPVS series with heat and moisture recovery. Technical characteristics of Electrolux EPVS STAR series recuperators

The Swedish brand Electrolux (Electrolux) produces not only vacuum cleaners, washing machines and so on household appliances. The products include climate control equipment, including ventilation units: supply and exhaust and supply.

Since installation of such devices can only be done by specialists, we will not describe it in detail. We will focus on an overview of the characteristics, capabilities and advantages.

General description: about types of installations

ventilation units Electrolux are divided into 2 types:

  1. Star EPVS: supply and exhaust, with recovery and electric heater. The line includes 6 models of varying performance, the device and functions are the same.
  2. Fresh Air EPFA: supply air, with electric heater. The line includes 3 models of different performance, the device and functions are the same.

In the review we will focus mainly on the first line - it is more popular and widespread.

U construction of models Electrolux Star EPVS

The body of the units is rectangular, made of galvanized steel sheet. Inside there is thermal and sound insulation made of polystyrene foam and foam rubber.

The housing contains:

  • 2 fans (one for supply, the other for exhaust), with overheating protection and 2 speeds;
  • 2 temperature sensors, one immediately at the inlet of street air, the second at the outlet of the influent from the installation (after the heater and recuperator, that is, you can know exactly how many degrees it is heated);
  • 2 filters, on the supply and on the exhaust, type EU-5 (so as not only to prevent polluted air from entering the room, but also not to pollute the recuperator);
  • plate recuperator.

There are two round pipes protruding from two opposite sides of the housing, to which the air duct lines are connected. One line carries fresh air from the street (supply), and the other draws air from the premises (exhaust). Inside, these lines cross, passing through the recuperator and “exchanging” heat.

On the sides of the body there are mounting brackets: 2 pieces each (4 in total). On the one hand, there is a service hatch: through it you can remove the filter and the heat exchanger for cleaning.

Additionally, 1 more fan can be installed in the supply and/or exhaust line, models EPVS-EF - to increase the pressure. This will partially increase the amount of air passing through. For each EPVS model there is a separate corresponding fan model (characteristics are given below).

For control, the devices have a wall-mounted control panel with a screen. You can read more about the remote control below.

Purpose and scope

Any model from the EPVS line can be used in ventilation systems of residential and non-residential buildings (used for all rooms of the building). It could be:

  • a private house;
  • shop;
  • office;
  • public establishment (cafe, restaurant, bar, etc.);
  • swimming pool, gym;
  • production room.

About production premises- there is a limitation. The installations are not intended for the removal of explosive impurities, acid vapors, varnishes, or “heavy” suspensions.

Pros and cons

The advantages of the EPVS line include:

  • separate places for air intake and exhaust;
  • “hidden” installation;
  • Can be used with an air duct system;
  • possibility to install an electric heater (purchased separately);
  • presence of a filter (and it can be cleaned);
  • the presence of a timer with the ability to set several modes for different days/times;
  • the presence of a remote control, which displays various readings.

The relatively high price is not a minus: recuperators of this series are more serious devices than “regular” ones household models(like UVRK or “Prana”).

The only downside is the lack of a remote control. remote control and electric heater as standard.

Control method: wall remote

The installation is controlled from a wall-mounted plastic remote control (model - ERC-16), which is connected to the device via a cable. The remote has a screen and 6 round mechanical buttons.

The screen is large, liquid crystal, with blue backlight. During operation, the following data is displayed:

  1. Day of the week.
  2. Current time.
  3. Selected fan speed.
  4. Supply air temperature (after the heat exchanger).

The remote control can also show the temperature at the entrance to the installation and the condition of the filter (signal that it is time to clean/change it).

Purpose of the buttons:

  1. Turn on/off the remote control and settings.
  2. Resetting the counter before cleaning/replacing the filter, viewing the air temperature at the installation inlet.
  3. Set date/time, or enter timer setting mode.
  4. Switching fan speed.
  5. Decrease the selected parameter by 1 unit, change modes (when setting the timer).
  6. Increase the selected parameter by 1 unit, change modes (when setting the timer).

Characteristics and prices of the Star EPVS line (air handling units)

In the line of air handling units with a heat exchanger includes 6 models. They are marked with numbers (EPVS line name + number) that indicate the approximate maximum air flow.

Additional fans are marked as EPVS-EF + number of the corresponding installation model (example: EPVS-EF 200).

List of models and approximate price for each installation and an additional fan for it:

  1. EPVS 200: about 36,000 rubles(additional fan - about 5,000 more rubles).
  2. EPVS 350: about 52,000 (6,500).
  3. EPVS 450: approx. 61,000 (7,500).

  5. EPVS 1100: about 94,000 (10,500).
  6. EPVS 1300: about 110,000 (13,000).

Here are the main characteristics of the installations Electrolux EPVS, as well as additional fans ( EPVS-EF, must be purchased separately):

Characteristics and prices of the Fresh Air EPFA line (air handling units)

In terms of device air supply units Fresh Air EPFA are different from the EPVS line. First of all, they only have 1 line for air, supply air. An electric heater is included as standard.

The models in the line of inlets are as follows:

  1. EPFA 480.
  2. EPFA 700.
  3. EPFA 1200.

Each model Available in several variations, the differences lie in the power of the heater.

The characteristics of EPFA inlets are as follows:

Installation features

Devices of both lines are usually mounted horizontally, in the ceiling space. Installation is carried out using self-tapping screws: the housing is attached to the surface using 4 mounting brackets. Vertical installation (on the wall) is also possible, but is practically not used.

Air duct lines are laid from the installed device through which air will be removed from the room (or rooms) and supplied to it.

During installation, it is necessary to provide access to the service hatch.

Buying household appliances is half the battle. It is important to know how to perform installation correctly. If you want to save on the services of a specialist, we will tell you how to install an Electrolux dishwasher. You will learn the details of doing the work yourself, which you will not find in the instructions.

First, decide on the size of the dishwasher. If you have a small family, then feel free to choose a compact option for 6-8 sets of dishes. When integrating the Electrolux PMM into a finished set, it is important to choose the right place:

  1. Compact model. Fits perfectly under the sink, just needs to be installed special siphon. Proximity to communications is a big plus. The machine can also be placed on a countertop, because its dimensions are no larger than a microwave oven.
  2. Built-in narrow PMM. Fits in one of the closets kitchen set. It is advisable to choose a place to the right or left of the sink. If you buy equipment and order new kitchen, then a cabinet for a dishwasher is provided in advance.
  3. Freestanding model. Place in convenient location. You can move the cabinets apart and install equipment or put it in a free corner.

It is important to place the Electrolux brand dishwasher level. The tilt to one side should not exceed two degrees.

You can remodel the cabinet in the suite yourself. To do this, remove the door from its hinges, remove all shelves and the back panel. Or make holes for hoses in the side wall.

How to avoid losing your warranty

Please read the instructions carefully before installing the machine yourself. Each manufacturer indicates acceptable standards when connecting equipment. Most dishwashers are not allowed to be connected to hot water. This leads to damage to hoses and filters.

If the PMM breaks down due to connection to a hot water supply, then you can’t count on warranty repairs.

Another dangerous point is the connection to the electrical network. It is prohibited to connect powerful equipment to regular old outlets without a voltage stabilizer, or to connect it to the same outlet as an electric stove.

Wiring

If your network is not prepared, call a specialist; you should not deal with electricity yourself. What work is ahead:

  1. Wall chipping. A puncher prepares a groove into which a three-core copper wire is laid.
  2. Installation of a European socket. Since the PMM cord is quite short, it is recommended to place the socket at a level of 45 cm from the floor. It must be moisture resistant and grounded.
  3. Connecting a 16A power breaker. It ensures stable operation of the equipment.

Connecting and placing the dishwasher

Before starting work, prepare the components:

  • Siphon with two or three drainage outlets. Additional fittings are useful for connecting other devices. If not needed, one fitting can be closed with a plug.
  • Tee made of brass, bronze or metal-plastic. ¾ inch thread. If the tee does not have a shut-off valve, then purchase one separately.
  • Filter. Installed to purify water from impurities.
  • Hoses of the required length, if standard ones are not enough.
  • Fumku. High-quality fum tape waterproofs connections.

Tools you need are an adjustable wrench, pliers, and a screwdriver.

Act in correct sequence. First you need to connect the drain, then the water supply and power supply. Judge for yourself what is more convenient for you: connect all the outputs at once and install the dishwasher in the cabinet, or place it in place and then start connecting.

Working with drain

Secure drain hose at the outlet of the siphon. It should bend at the top so that waste water does not enter the PMM bunker. The bottom bend (which comes from the machine) should be short and deep.

Water connection

Have you already decided which water supply to connect to? About connecting to hot water read our article. First of all, close the shut-off valve. Remove from water supply outlet kitchen faucet and old insulation. Install the brass tee. Connect a mixer, a coarse filter, and a dishwasher hose to the outputs (you can use a connecting tube - a hose). All connections are carefully insulated with fum-leta (wrap at least 10 times along the thread).

Additionally, install a ball valve if it is not on the tee.

All that remains is to plug the plug into the socket. Now you can do a test run and check dishwasher In action. Open the shut-off valve and test run the PMM without dishes. Make sure there are no leaks anywhere.

It is not difficult to connect the Electrolux dishwasher with your own hands. The main thing is to act consistently and follow the instructions. A video on the topic will help you:

The supply and exhaust unit STAR is a compact recuperative device designed for supplying, cleaning and removing exhaust air into small rooms. Heating and humidification of the air is carried out without additional energy costs. This happens due to a membrane-type plate recuperator, which extracts heat and moisture from the recycled air and transfers it to the incoming air from the street. Installation of the unit can be carried out directly in the serviced room and suspended ceiling.

Design

As standard, the units are equipped with supply and exhaust fans, supply and exhaust filters, a plate heat exchanger and a system automatic control with remote control. An innovative type of recuperator allows you to heat and humidify the supply air, while a special recuperator membrane transfers only water molecules from the exhaust air, leaving all contaminants in it.

The fans of the units are equipped with highly efficient impellers with forward curved blades and asynchronous motors. The motors' sealed ball bearings are maintenance-free and provide extended service life. Fan motors are protected by built-in thermal contacts with automatic restart at a temperature of 125°C.

The unit has two fan rotation speeds, the ability to control an external electric heater (supplied separately) and electronic protection of the heat exchanger from freezing.

If there is an extended network of air ducts, additional booster fans (supplied separately) are sequentially installed in the supply and (or) exhaust air ducts.

The unit is designed for installation directly to round air ducts.

Distinctive features

  • Built-in automation system
  • Self-diagnosis of errors
  • Programmable control panel with LCD display included
  • Function for programming the weekly operating schedule of the unit
  • Recuperator efficiency up to 85-90% at maximum flow air
  • EU5 filtration degree
  • Monitoring filter contamination by operating time with a variable parameter
  • Uninterrupted operation without freezing at temperatures down to -15°C
  • Two operating modes at temperatures below -15°C:
    • automatic defrosting mode of the recuperator
    • frost prevention mode with connection of an external electric heater

Installation

The air handling unit is supplied ready for connection. The unit is mounted horizontally in the ceiling space. During installation, it is necessary to provide access for servicing the installations.

Not allowed:

  • use for transporting air containing “heavy” dust, flour, etc.
  • install in explosion- and fire-hazardous areas and for transporting air containing vapors of flammable substances.

Care

Clean the filter regularly depending on how dirty it is, especially in May-June, during flowering time. During this period, it may be necessary to clean the filter 2 or more times a month.

To clean filters and the recuperator, do not use solvents or metal brushes. Use a soft brush to remove dust.

Reliability check electrical connections performed at least once a year.

One of the most important parameters of this series of air handling units with heat recovery is its high energy efficiency due to the transfer of thermal energy from the removed warm air supply cold.

The efficiency of modern membrane recuperators used in these installations reaches 70%.

The use of Electrolux EPVS-1100 air handling units with heat recovery is especially important for our climate, when the winter period lasts 7-8 months a year.

According to the experience of our research and calculations, the payback for air handling units with recovery occurs on average in 1.5-2 years of operation. Compared to equipment that heats supply air with electricity.

High recovery efficiency is achieved by modern technology using a membrane-type heat exchanger-recuperator with the ability to transfer part of the heat with moisture through the surface of the recuperator.

However, recovery alone is not enough for full heating, so it is necessary to install an auxiliary heater, although its power is already significantly less than what would be needed to heat the same volume of air without using recovery.

Control

The management of this model of equipment is absolutely simple. Enabling/disabling and adjusting the necessary parameters is carried out using the control panel:
