- Filler - if the pillow is only decorative, then a synthetic winterizer is suitable (it is cheap and voluminous). When the thing is placed under the back or under the head, then it is better to fill it with holofiber.
The pattern of heart pillows is simple, and it is easy to make it yourself, just by drawing a beautifully shaped figure of the desired size. The shape can be classic or elongated - there are no restrictions.
DIY master class
The drawn heart is cut out of paper to be transferred to the material, which is laid out on the table for this. The pattern is pinned with pins and outlined with chalk.
If both sides of the heart are from a single piece of the same fabric, then the canvas is folded in half with the front side inward before transferring the template to it. Outlining the contour of the heart, the material must be chipped with pins. This is necessary so that its upper and lower layers do not move relative to each other, then the pattern will be located on them in the same way. For a thing from two types of fabric (or two pieces), 2 parts are prepared separately, cutting them out taking into account a seam allowance of 1-2 cm. Do-it-yourself heart pillows are made strictly maintaining the dimensions of the front and back parts of the pillowcase: the parts must match exactly.
When the pillow is sewn from one piece, then on a typewriter along the line of the picture, it is enough just to stitch the pillowcase, leaving a small hole for filling. After it is cut out, be sure to step back from the seam: leaving an allowance for loose fabrics with a width of 15 mm, and for non-loose fabrics - 5 mm.
Sewing a pillowcase from 2 separately cut fragments, they are preliminarily precisely aligned and chipped off with several pins. The right side of the fabric should be inside, as the seams should be on the wrong side.
The sewn pillowcase is turned inside out, then filled with holofiber or padding polyester, which must first be fluffed.
So that the filler is evenly distributed, it is convenient to help yourself when filling a long wooden stick, which easily pushes it through.
After filling, the seam allowances along the edge of the opening of the pillowcase are tucked inward. Then it is carefully sewn up by hand. The seam should be invisible, not standing out next to the machine.
After that, the do-it-yourself heart-shaped pillow is ready.
If desired, it is additionally decorated. To do this, even before stuffing, the finished pillowcase is embroidered with beads or beads. You can also use fairly large decorative items that are attached with glue gun on an already stuffed item.
