Taking measurements
Barbell measurements. Measure the width of the bed. If necessary, you can increase the length of the bar so that its ends protrude beyond the bed.
Strengthening the bar. Sit on the bed and measure the distance from the bar to the bed so that the bar is above your head. Fasten the bar according to the marks, exactly following the instructions.
Stuffing measurement. Two pillows look better above the double bed. Measure the distance from the bar to the expected level above the bed (A) and subtract 5 cm, which will take the strings. Measure the width of the bed (B), for two pillows it will be 1/2B and a small gap between them. Cut out a piece of foam rubber (A - 5 cm) x B (0.5 V).

How to make a headboard pillow
Open the cover. Measure the circumference of the pillow (C), add 3 cm for the seams. Measure cushion height (D), add 10.5cm for insert and seams. According to these measurements, cut a rectangle out of the fabric.
Cover sewing. Fold the fabric in half across the right side. Peel off, baste with a seam allowance of 1.5 cm. Stitch 8 cm from the corners, iron the seams. Lay the "lightning" in the middle on the wrong side of the seam with the teeth down. Pin, baste and stitch from the front.
Ties. Cut out 6 strips (50x20 cm). Fold them in half lengthwise with the front side. Peel off, stitch along and on one short side. Cut seam allowances, twist, iron. Chip and sweep the ties in pairs, combining the cuts.
Tie placement. Lay the "zipper" in the middle of the back side, unzip it. On the front top edge of the cover, make 3 marks for ties at a distance of 7.5 cm from the corners and in the middle. Aligning the cuts, pin the ties along the marks in front to front side. Turn the cover inside out, stitch the top edge with 1.5 cm allowances, grabbing the ties into the seam. Stitch the bottom edge. Turn the cover through the "zipper" to the front side.
Stuffing. Insert the foam rubber through the "zipper". Baste the excess fabric at the corners under the V-shaped seam. Sew with a blind seam.
Hanging a pillow. Pin the strings on the bar so that the pillow is in the desired position. Remove the pins and tie each string tightly in turn.
Advice. Inner cover. To make the pillow last longer, sew the inner calico cover in the same way as the outer one, but without the zipper and ties. Leave one side open, insert the foam, fold the edges and sew with a blind seam.
Pillow with frill
It is very easy to make a soft back at the head of the pillow. A thin rod is threaded through a drawstring sewn to the back of the cover so that the pillow is in front of the rod. You can also make loops or ties to hang the pillow. Mount the barbell at a height that is comfortable for you. You will need: Cloth. Pillow. Thin rod with fasteners. Threads for sewing.
Measurement. Measure the length and width of the pillow, cut two pieces of fabric according to these measurements, adding 1.5 cm on each side for the seams.
Frill. Measure the perimeter of the pillow, multiply the result by 2. Cut out a strip of fabric of the obtained length with a width of 20 cm. Stitch it into a ring from the wrong side, iron the seam. Fold the frill in half along the wrong side. Lay the seams. Pull the threads to adjust the length, pin the frill to the front of the cover. Accept and stitch.
Kuliska. Cut a drawstring the same length as the pillow, about 8 cm wide. The drawstring should be wide enough for the barbell to fit through. Tuck long edges 1.5 cm, iron. Lay the drawstring on the right side of the back of the cover, stepping back 5 cm from the top edge. Pin and stitch along the long edges.
Case. Fold the back and front of the case right sides together. Peel off and stitch, leaving an open area (30 cm) in the middle of one of the sides. Do not grind the ends of the drawstring! Trim the corners of the seam allowances and turn the cover right side out. Put it on the pillow, sew up the hole with a blind seam. Pass the bar through the drawstring and hang it over the bed.

Figured headboard for the bed
This type of construction will also be soft, but have a special relief. For manufacturing, you need to prepare:
- plywood sheet;
- soap or chalk - for marking on the fabric;
- foam rubber;
- construction adhesive, mostly universal;
- stapler;
- furniture nails;
- upholstery fabric;
- unnecessary material.
First, we make a sketch, according to which drawings and markup will be carried out. After that, blanks are cut out of plywood, fabric and foam rubber. Foam rubber is glued to plywood, for greater reliability, the edges are fixed with a stapler. The same manipulations are done with the fabric.
The head of the bed is placed in a horizontal position, with the help of staples, the fabric is gently stretched on the back side. On the reverse side, cuts must be made on the fabric so that it perfectly repeats the relief of the headboard.
If you do not know how to decorate the upholstery, you need to take furniture studs, which are fixed at a distance of 1 cm from the edge of the headboard. In order to make the second line of decor, markings are made with chalk or soap, indented from the first line by about 10 cm. Carnations are nailed along the intended line. waste material closes with a stapler back side. The headboard is complete.

A synthetic winterizer can be glued on top, while the surface will become softer, but this is not necessary. The upholstery is stretched, after which through holes are made with a drill. A cord is pulled through the buttons and made into holes. For convenience, you can use a hook.

You can make a soft headboard with your own hands from soft materials or fabrics. For significant savings, it is better to take not a whole piece of matter, but use a lot of shreds. The material can serve as old jeans, dresses and more. The work will be carried out using the following materials:
