Months of mockery of the guy ended with the fact that their initiator - his immediate commander - raped him. Two hours later, Leonid hanged himself.
The case file contains a record of the interrogation of a witness who turned out to be one of the last to see Leonid alive: he was crying, he had a rope in his hands. A colleague asked what happened? Leonid said: “Ka*anov abused me” and sat down to write his two suicide notes. A colleague fell asleep. Is a message from a crying man with a rope in his hands about being raped by his own commander really a very everyday story in military unit 66431? An hour and a half later, Leonid was no longer alive.
“This is one of those stories that debunks the common myth that the army “school of life” makes guys “real men”. A "real man" raped a soldier he commanded. From the materials of the case: “... being at the Kapustin Yar training ground, wanting to create unbearable conditions for ordinary Leonidov in military service, being dissatisfied with the latter being hospitalized in a military hospital during the exercises, and wanting to punish him for this, Ka*anov persuaded him to commit the joint crime of privates Saltykov and Antonov, subordinate to him by military rank, who is also subordinate to him by military position (...) to the systematic use of physical violence and humiliation of the latter until the end of Leonidov's military service.
