How should the washing machine drain hose be positioned? How to connect the drain hose of a washing machine. What tools will you need?

It is important! The non-return valve prevents the appearance of unpleasant odors from the sewer, which cannot be neutralized by any fragrances.

When connecting the machine in the kitchen choose a similar option if it is located next to the sink. In this case, the siphon is installed closer to the sink, at a height of at least 45 cm, and drain hose secured with a special attachment, like an inverted Latin letter U, at a height of 70 cm above the floor level. The hose from the machine goes up, and then goes down and connects to the sewer through a siphon.

How to make the connection correctly is shown in the photo: the pipe is inserted into the drain hose and secured with a special clamp. This is a simple and profitable method to drain washing machine into the sewer.

Draining through a siphon

Connect directly

When the entrance to the sewer is at some distance from household appliances, then you need to do sidebar, and install a branch to the installation site of the machine, and this already requires special skills in carrying out plumbing work. However, many home craftsmen have already mastered the intricacies of hot metal joining. plastic pipes plumbing system, so connect the pipes sewer system they will be able to do it.

Remember! When connecting the machine directly to the sewer, a violation established rules connection as a result of independent actions entails repair of the equipment at your expense, the manufacturer’s warranty will be invalid.

If the pipe is cast iron, then you cannot do without a specialist. Watch the video carefully to find out how complicated the process of organizing a drain is for connecting a washing machine to the sewer system:

Some experts insert into the riser tee, and the drain hose is already connected through it through the o-ring. The diagram that we offer is very simple: it shows how to properly connect to the sewer system of a city apartment, maintaining the required height in order to bad smell did not enter the machine system. The drain hose is inserted at a height of no more than 80 cm - it should not touch the water inside the pipe.

Important! It must be remembered that the height of the drain hose affects the operation of the pump: the higher, the greater the load. Follow the recommendations of specialists.

After completing all work, check the machine idle mode to make sure that your choice of drain arrangement does not imply any leaks and all connections remain tight. By the way, the Aquastop system, which can be included in the washing machine by default or can be purchased and installed separately, will also protect you from leaks.

The owners of individual cottages have favorable circumstances for connections: they can make all the necessary outlets and water and electricity supply systems in advance, so as not to have to guess later how to make this or that connection and what costs will be required.

Horizontal drain

A few words about horizontal drainage under the bathtub, which many homeowners do incorrectly. It can be easily disguised with overlay panels, which only benefits the design of the entire room, but there is a huge drawback: the drain hose will be filled with drainage from the bathtub. Unpleasant odors will inevitably be constantly present in the washing unit system, not to mention constant dampness. In order to avoid such negative consequences, the drainage from the machine must be introduced from top to bottom and with a mandatory water seal.

Conditions for air gap

Materials and tools

For proper organization process of removing waste water from the machine you will need:

  1. Drain hose- if the sewerage system is located well, you can use the one included in the kit; in others you will have to purchase it separately. In this case, it is necessary to take into account all the bends, because building it up is unacceptable.
  2. All sealing means It is better to purchase silicone based - it is durable and provides 100% sealing. The basis for organizing plumbing work of any kind is to pay Special attention preventing leakage.
  3. Metal-plastic pipes, special siphon with an additional branch for connecting a washing unit, tees, adapters and different types elbows, check valve. Calculate the diameter, as well as the length and type yourself, depending on the selected connection option.
  4. Pipe cutter and other special tools if you plan to insert into the home sewerage system. An adjustable wrench or a set of open-end wrenches.

If all the work was done correctly, the results of a single wash did not reveal any leaks in the drainage system, then you can hope that it will serve as reliably for a long time as the washing machine itself.

When buying a machine, we almost always know its future location. But it often happens that the location changes due to size or other reasons. The first difficulty that SM owners face is the large distance from communications. Therefore, today we will talk about whether it is possible to extend the drain hose washing machine-automatic, and how to do it correctly.

Before extending the hose, you must understand its parameters. Remember: in no case should you raise it higher than 1 meter so that drainage pump could normally pump waste water out of the tank. If you neglect this recommendation, the low power of the pump will not be enough to drain, and water will linger in the tank.

During connection, you must take care to keep the tube tension free, especially paying attention to the top point. It should be 60 cm higher than the lowest point. This is typical for all machines, regardless of brand and model. But still, if you have everything calculated down to the centimeter, you need additional information. To find out the exact value, look at the user manual - everything is spelled out there. If nothing is indicated in the manual, look for other technical documentation for the SM.

Typically, the maximum length of the hose does not exceed two meters, and most often it is one and a half meters. If the tube is much shorter, or standard size It’s not enough for you, you can use a trick - instead of lengthening the drain hose, buy a new one of sufficient length.

Attention! You can purchase the part at a store that specializes in selling plumbing fixtures or at a service center. If you didn’t find what you were looking for, go “online” - find the required part in the Internet.

To replace the part, you will have to disassemble the case. If you are not ready for such radical actions, there is a simpler solution - connecting 2 washing machine hoses. To extend the drain hose, take:

  1. Another new detail.
  2. High quality clamps.
  3. Connector for drain hoses.

In principle, you can save on clamps if the connection is tight. But to make sure of this, you will have to visit the store several times - first buy a connector, and then clamps, if there are any doubts about the tightness. Also, clamps will definitely come in handy if you can’t find a connector.

If you purchased a connector

  1. Fix the hoses in the connector on both sides.
  2. Secure with clamps.
  3. Install on the machine and sewer.
  4. Run a test wash, if everything is fine, the machine can be used.

Without connector

  1. Find a plastic or rubber tube. Its size should be such that it fits over both hoses.
  2. Buy clamps.
  3. The tube is put on the hoses so that they meet in the center. The tighter the tube fits, the better.
  4. Use clamps for a tighter fit.

If you're missing permissible length 3.5 meters, that is, there are other ways out of the situation:

  • Install equipment closer to communications.
  • Zoom in on the drain itself.

Would you like to see how to extend the drain hose? We offer a video:

Having figured out how to extend the drain of a washing machine, you have solved only part of the problem. But you also need to figure out what to do with the water inlet hose if its length is also not enough. More about all this below.

Don't know how to extend the inlet hose? Everything is extremely simple: instead of extending the water supply hose, buy a longer part. It is sold in the same place where parts for drain system. To change a part, disassembling the SMA is not necessary. Proceed like this:

  1. Disconnect the SM from the water supply if it was connected to it.
  2. Unscrew the fasteners (manually, without tools, so as not to damage the plastic fasteners).
  3. Install a new part. When tightening the fasteners, do not use tools - do everything by hand.
  4. Open the valve and check the tightness of all connections.
  5. If everything is fine, start washing. At least for the test one.

If you haven’t found a hose of a suitable length, you can lengthen it. Usually the water supply hose is extended by a second similar element, but you will need an adapter. Use a 3" x 4" brass nipple. To extend the hose for supplying water to the washing machine, simply screw the nipple onto each hose, and that’s it - the job is done successfully.

If you had to expand or change parts, do not forget to check whether your machine has enough cord to connect to the mains. If the cord is too short, or, on the contrary, the outlet is far away, then you need to pay attention to this point. It is better not to use extension cords to connect the washing machine to the network. This is fraught with serious damage: such extension filters often cause a fire.

Now you know how to extend the drain and intake hose of a washing machine. And no matter where your washing machine is, you will always find a way to successfully connect it to all communications.

Our parents still remember the times when doing laundry took the whole day, or even the whole weekend. Today, a special household appliance is used for these purposes, which is found in every home. He replaced manual labor and saves a lot of time. In modern technology, every detail is extremely important, including the drain hose for the washing machine.

Drain hose for washing machine and its types

The drain hose (sleeve) performs one task - drains dirty water after washing and rinsing things into the drain. If your equipment is not equipped with a device for discharging waste water, or you want to replace the drain hose for your washing machine, the price will range from 30 to 1300 rubles. The final cost will depend on the length of the drain and specific model household appliances.

There are three types of drainage devices offered on the plumbing market:

    Standard drain hose. Its length ranges from 1 to 5 meters. If necessary, it can be extended with a second similar one using a plumbing clamp.

    Telescopic drain hose. It has become widespread due to the fact that it fits almost all modern car models. Its length when folded is 60 cm. When stretched, this figure reaches two meters. Disadvantages of this type of drain hoses:

    • high vibration during draining;

      clogged more often;

      Cracks and tears may appear.

  1. Drain hose in a reel. The length of the coil from the manufacturer is 50 meters. It consists of modules soldered together. You just need to measure the required length and cut along the notch. The length of a single module is 50-55 centimeters. The neck is usually made of steel. Using a very long hose of this type not only leads to the appearance of stagnant areas of dirty water, but even blocks the drain. In addition, such a tube is easier to damage or deform.

Drain hoses are made of polypropylene, painted in grey colour. There are special connectors at the ends (19 and 22 mm). The drain hose from the washing machine is connected to the sewer. If the tube cannot be connected to a drain, secure it to the sink or bathtub.

What should be the length of the washing machine drain hose?

Think about how you will drain from the machine to the waste pipe. Use a tape measure to measure this distance. The drain hose is available at all stores selling household goods and household appliances.

These stores sell hoses of different lengths: from 1 to 5 meters, as well as modular drain hoses.

As we have already said, modular hoses are sold in large coils and consist of 0.5 meter segments. All you have to do is contact the seller so that he can measure and cut the sleeve to the required length.

However, modular hoses are not always easy to find, so we advise you to opt for other types of hoses.

So, you came to the store to buy a drain hose for your washing machine. How to do this correctly? Remember that when choosing a drainage device, you should not be guided by the principle - “You don’t have enough stock in your pocket!” and buy the longest hose. The shorter the length, the easier it is for the drain pump to pump water from the washing machine to the drain. If possible, install the automatic machine so that the distance to the drain does not exceed 3.5 meters.

How to install a washing machine drain hose

If you still need a longer hose, then buy two hoses and use a connector. As a rule, this is a short plastic tube; the ends of the drains are placed on it and tightened with clamps.

In a situation where the diameter of the washing machine drain hose is different from the diameter of the extension, try to connect the end extending from the washing machine with the end of the tube that has a larger value of this indicator, using a plumbing adapter with different numerical parameters at the ends - 19 and 22 millimeters. When connecting hoses of identical diameter, use a standard 22 by 22 mm connector.

You can easily make such an adapter yourself from a rigid PVC tube. the right size. It will be no different from what is sold in stores. Tighten the hoses onto the connector with clamps.

To start washing, an automatic machine needs water, which enters the tank. technical device from central water supply. There are also alternative ways its delivery to start the cycle. At the end of the wash, the used liquid is removed using special device, which is usually supplied with the device. Connecting the washing machine drain hose is a common procedure. There are two ways to organize the removal of dirty water from the tank:

    Temporary, using a special plastic bracket included with the machine. The drain is attached to the edge of the sink or bathtub.

    Stationary, connecting to the drain directly with a tie-in. The plastic guide is needed here to prevent the drain hose from kinking, which can block the drain.

Washing machine users often prefer the second installation option. With this method of connecting the washing machine drain hose, it is invisible and does not damage general form bathroom. It completely eliminates the situation when the hose is simply not secured to the edge of the sink or bathtub, and after the end of the wash cycle, dirty water drains to the floor.

Follow the recommendations of specialists before installing the drain hose for your washing machine yourself. How to attach? What is the height of the washing machine drain hose? Is the washing machine equipped check valve drain hose? All of these points are very important and following installation standards will help prevent possible breakdowns expensive equipment.

    The check valve installed on modern models of washing machines allows water to flow in one direction. If it is not there, you need to maintain a certain mounting height drain device. Usually permissible height, on which the drain is installed, is indicated in the operating manual of the automatic machine. Failure to follow the recommendation may result in damage.

    A washing machine drain hose extension is used when the existing hose is not of sufficient size and it is problematic to bring its end to the sewer outlet. However, as in the case of buying a tube that is too long, the same principle applies here: if it is too long, the sump pump will work harder and may not cope with its task, which will also lead to its breakdown and costly repairs.

    Regardless of how you secure the drain - temporarily or permanently, its end should not be immersed in water.

How to connect the drain hose to a washing machine via a siphon

To drain dirty water through the siphon located under the sink, you need to replace the existing one with a special one for an automatic machine. Such siphons have the necessary pipes to which wastewater is supplied, including a drain hose for a washing machine. Place the siphon at a sufficient height to form a water seal, preventing the penetration of sewerage smell into the room and the reverse flow of water.

Install the purchased siphon, tighten the connections. Check the assembly for reliability by running water. Then connect the drainage device to the pipe using a plumbing coupling and a rubber cuff that prevents the connection from leaking and prevents odors from coming out. sewer drain get into the room. Or take a special adapter for the drain hose of the washing machine, tighten the connection with a clamp to make it tight.

Organizing the drain using a siphon (stationary connection) will not interfere with taking a bath or washing your face using the sink during laundry. If water is drained into a sink or bathtub, then this possibility is eliminated, since the bathtub will fill dirty water after the end of the wash cycle. Washing in a sink into which used liquid is drained will also not be very pleasant.

Please note that the siphon must be installed strictly vertically. Horizontal installation is unacceptable, since this method threatens leaks. The height of the drainage organization is also important. The bend of the special plastic bracket in which the drainage device is fixed must be at least 60 centimeters from the floor level.

Another interesting solution related to connecting the drain to the siphon - siphons for hidden installation in the wall. One side is used for connection to sewer pipes, the other for supplying drain hoses. The contacts are also sealed using a clamp or cuff. A tap for connection to the source is installed in the immediate vicinity cold water. With this solution, the connection process (even when replacing the old washing machine with a new one) will take no more than 5-10 minutes.

How to connect the drain hose of a washing machine to the sewer without a siphon

Draining is not difficult to do directly, without a siphon. You will need a sewer tee and a rubber collar to seal the connection. The device must be inserted into the section of the sewer pipe and the drain must be connected to its outlet through the cuff. It is possible to connect the sewer drain pipe to the washing machine and connect it directly to the hose. Create a bend in the hose in front of the sewer pipe, protecting the machine tank from the sewer system. This insulates against unpleasant odors. Seal the connection.

If the drain is left straight, without an S-curve or rise, odors from the drain can easily enter the washing machine drum where the washed, clean clothes lie. Instead of bending, it is better to use the same siphon, which is guaranteed to cut off any “flavors”. And to prevent wastewater from accidentally getting back into the tank, use an anti-siphon - a check valve.

How to extend the drain hose of a washing machine

Together with the new washing machine, the manufacturer provides all the necessary accessories for connecting it to the water supply and sewerage system. However, the standard package does not take into account the individual layout of your home and does not always meet the buyer’s requirements. The most common problem of this kind is a short drain hose.

The standard length of the drainage device that comes with the machine is 2 meters. If it is not enough, you can use a washing machine drain hose extension, which can be purchased separately at a plumbing store. In addition to this device, you will also need a connector and metal clamps, through which you will ensure the necessary tightness.

There are several ways to extend the drain hose to the required length:

    If an adapter is used for extension, it can be a thin-walled rigid PVC tube with external size no more than 20 millimeters and metal clamps of suitable diameter - no more than 27 millimeters to seal the connection.

    To perform a “hidden” installation of a drainage system (when the extension cord needs to be hidden in a wall or in a floor screed), a plastic pipe up to 3.5 meters long and 20 millimeters in diameter is best suited.

    Another practical and simple option for extending the drain is a compact telescopic tube. It will provide reliable hermetic connection without bending or folding.

    You can also use regular corrugation of standard length - up to 2 meters.

Remember important rule relative to the maximum drain length? That's right, its size should not be more than 3.5 meters! If you cannot limit yourself to this length, then it is better to move the machine closer to the drain than to increase additional meters hose

Before you begin the seemingly simple process of sleeve extensions, familiarize yourself with the standard recommendations. Consistent implementation of the points in this recommendation will allow you to avoid offensive mistakes and guarantees a good result.

Algorithm for performing the work:

    Before starting work, make sure that everything necessary materials are in stock, and if necessary, purchase the missing accessories. If there is no pipe of the required diameter on sale, then buy one whose diameter is as close as possible to the one you already have and use an adapter.

    Disconnect the machine from the power supply. Place the ends of the existing drain hose and extension onto the connector; the contact point is indicated by a special mark made exactly in the middle of the tube.

    Create a tight, airtight connection using clamps. Do not over-tighten the clamps; you may damage the tube.

Before using the machine for the first time, check again how well the joints are sealed. If necessary, seal the ends of the hoses with a special sealant. Inspect the place where the drain hose is installed, make sure there are no objects with sharp edges or protruding interior features that could cause it to rub or be damaged.

Replacing the washing machine drain hose without problems

Models of automatic equipment differ from each other, therefore, the location of the drain hose in them also differs. But there are universal rules on how to change the drain hose in a washing machine that apply to all types.

    If the wash cycle was turned on, wait until the program completes and make sure the washing machine drum stops completely. Unplug the machine. Secure the wire in the grooves on the back wall of the washing machine so that it does not interfere with your work later.

    Disconnect the water supply hose from the water supply system. When unscrewing it, be careful not to lose the sealing rubber ring. Unfasten the drain hose from the sewer pipe and close sewer outlet with a special plug. Attach the drain and supply tubes to the back of the washing machine so that the free ends point upward. The preparation stage is completed.

    How to remove the drain hose from a washing machine? The drain tube comes out of the bottom or top of the back wall of the machine, but to remove it, we need to get to the pump. Lift up top cover apparatus. You will see that the sleeve is connected to the pump. Disconnect it from the pump and from the machine body and carefully remove it. Pay attention to the shape of the old device. Sometimes manufacturers use an L-shaped drain hose for the washing machine. The bend, as a rule, is located in the area of the pump, that is, inside the machine itself. You may have difficulty finding and purchasing an identical sleeve. If you can't find a replacement, don't despair, use L-shaped ends, which are exactly what you'll find at a plumbing store, and a standard drain hose.

    Pour out the remaining water from the hose. Proceed to install the purchased drain in reverse order. Carefully follow the manufacturer's instructions in the instructions.

How to clean the drain hose in a washing machine

Often, a washing machine malfunction is caused by dirt in the drain hose. It becomes clogged during operation of the equipment. A suspension of dirty soapy water settles inside, containing fabric fibers, wool, and hair.

You can clean the drain hose of your washing machine. Let's look at how to implement this below.

To clean, the drain hose is completely disconnected from the washing machine. The sequence of actions depends on the model of the device and the method of attaching the hose to the water drainage system.

Record your actions using photos or videos; this will help you avoid confusion during assembly and will be useful for subsequent repairs.

First, unplug the washing machine from the electrical outlet. Shut off the water supply pipe. Drain any remaining water from the drum through the drain filter. Disconnect the hose from the sewer system; if there is water left in the drain hose of the washing machine, drain it.

To detach the other end of the sleeve, you will need a set of screwdrivers and pliers.

Let's consider the circuit for disconnecting drain hoses for washing machines LG, Indesit, Ardo, Ariston, Samsung, Candy, Beko, Whirrool:

    Detach the bottom panel by unscrewing the screws with a screwdriver (some models may have a bolted or missing bottom).

    Remove the bolts holding the filter.

    Place the washing machine on side wall, having previously laid something under it (this will protect the floor and the device itself from scratches). Before doing this, screw the shipping bolts holding the washing machine drum into the corresponding holes on the back wall.

    Unclench the clamp with pliers. Disconnect the drain hose from the pump and washing machine body.

To disconnect the drain hoses for Zanussi and Electrolux washing machines, the rear wall is disconnected. You need to do the following:

    Release the latches holding the drain hose;

    Unscrew the hose supplying water to the washing machine;

    Unscrew the bolts securing the top cover and remove it;

    Unscrew the bolts holding the wall and remove it;

    Using pliers, loosen the clamp on the drain hose and disconnect it from the drainage system.

The design solution of German-made washing machines involves disconnecting the drain hoses for Bosch, AEG, Siemens washing machines after removing the front part of the case:

    Remove the detergent tray from the housing;

    Separate the bottom panel of the case;

    Remove the clamp securing the cuff;

    Detach the cuff;

    Unscrew the bolts securing the front wall;

    Unscrew the bolts securing the lock of the locking mechanism or carefully move the wall, reach out and disconnect the cable leading to the lock;

    Lift the front wall up a little and pull it towards you to remove it from the hooks;

    Loosen the clamp and carefully remove the drain hose.

All methods discussed apply to front-loading washing machines.

On top-loading machines, the drain is disconnected through the side wall. For this:

    Unscrew the bolts holding the side wall;

    Remove the panel;

    Unclench the clamp and pull out the drain hose.

The drain hose is cleaned with a thin Kevlar cable (synthetic fiber). A small brush at the end of such a cable will remove dirty soap deposits from the inner walls of the sleeve. To do this, perform the following algorithm:

    Pass the cable through the hose several times at both ends;

    Remove the cable and place one of the holes in the hose under running water;

    Secure the drain in its original place;

    Reassemble the washing machine by performing the steps in reverse order.

To improve the result, pour any anti-scale agent or anti-scale agent into the washing powder tray. citric acid, start the wash cycle at 60°C.

To prevent blockages in the drain, it is recommended:

    Using a special laundry bag;

    Adding water softeners along with detergent;

    Carrying out preventive descaling;

    Using washing powder for automatic washing machines;

    Checking clothing pockets for small items.

Where to buy a drain hose for a washing machine that won’t have to be changed often

It would seem that the answer to the question is obvious - drain hoses can be purchased at any plumbing store! But it's not that simple. Among the huge assortment of goods on sale, there are many products of low or downright low quality.

Often the deciding factor when purchasing a particular hose is the price. It is logical to assume that the higher it is, the better the quality of the hose. This is partly true, but you still need to know the criteria for choosing a good product.

Alas, special markings and marks indicating the product’s compliance with GOST do not always guarantee the quality of the product. The market is full of counterfeit products. It is better to choose a hose “by touch”, that is, when choosing it, you should check how it fits on the pump nozzle. If the fit is loose, but it does not dangle, then you have chosen suitable product. You should refrain from purchasing hoses that are too “tight”, as they are usually unreliable and are likely to be damaged during installation.

It is best to buy hoses, bends, tees and sewer pipes from the same manufacturer. Then problems with correct landing all components of the system will not appear. And it’s better to buy everything as a set, rather than buying more later. This will be the main guarantee of quality and reliability.

Speaking of guarantees. You should purchase goods only from trusted stores, from sellers who are actually suppliers of real manufacturers.

However, it is not at all necessary to look for manufacturers of drain hoses for washing machines yourself, because we have done it for you. Before buying a washing machine, many people wonder how to properly connect it to communications. There are two options for the development of events: call a professional craftsman or do all the work yourself. Self-installation- a responsible matter, you will need to observe all the details, correctly connect the inlet hose to the water supply, and drain the drain into the sewer. It is important to choose a place for installation and correctly supply the device with power. Instructions and useful tips will help you avoid getting confused during all stages of installation.

Choosing a location for installation

In a standard apartment there are several places where you can place a washing machine - a bath, toilet or kitchen. Narrow appliances with horizontal loading of laundry are usually placed in the toilet. In exceptional cases, the machine is installed in the corridor or pantry, if opportunities permit.

The washing machine must be installed strictly at floor level

The main condition for choosing a place for a washing machine is that it is ideal Smooth surface floor.

Advice. It is best to install the machine on a concrete floor. In this way, vibrations during operation can be reduced. And the twist-out legs will help ensure correct position device.

Unpacking the machine

Manufacturers take great care in transporting their goods. The washing machine is carefully packaged. They do this in order to prevent damage during transportation.

Attention! Before installation, read the instructions and follow all instructions necessary actions.

The machine must be freed from its original packaging and the transport bolts that secure the device tank must be removed. They are easily unscrewed, and plugs are attached instead.

Attention! Do not operate the washing machine with transport bolts, as this may cause damage. The warranty does not cover such a problem.

Required Tools

Connecting a washing machine will require you not only to study the instructions or your own knowledge, but also to have some tools. So, prepare:

  • adjustable and gas wrench;
  • ball valve;
  • fitting, tee or ferrule (depending on the type of pipe);
  • threaded adapter;
  • withdrawal - as necessary;
  • flexible hose.

Washing machine installation tools

Connecting the device to the water supply system

There are several ways to connect the machine to the water supply:

  1. Connection without using water supply. This option is more suitable for use in the country. After all, country life should also be comfortable. And the lack of running water should not be a reason to refuse the benefits of civilization. So, you will need a large tank, which must be installed at a height of at least 3 m. Connect the hose from the machine to it. This will create the necessary pressure. If you do not want to carry out high-altitude work with the tank, you can purchase pumping station, but this method will be very expensive.

    Connecting the washing machine through the tank

  2. Connection via tee. An easy way to connect. A flexible hose is used for this. It is connected to water tap or the supply of the toilet tank. The connected hose must be of sufficient length, and a tee must be used to connect it. Before each wash, the tap hose will have to be unscrewed. This is not entirely convenient and this method can be used as a temporary option. Connecting a washing machine to the water supply of the toilet tank is a good idea, but only if they are located nearby.

    Connection via tee

  3. Connection via metal-plastic pipes through a fitting. A great way for owners. IN cold pipe a part is cut out, and a fitting (connecting tee) is cut into the opening, to which the ball valve is fixed. The connecting areas must be sealed with rubber cuffs.

    Connection via metal-plastic pipes

  4. Connection via crimp coupling. For this method you will need a ¾ inch flexible hose. It needs to be connected to the machine and a special tap, which cuts into the water supply using a crimp coupling. This is done only if the pipe is metal. The coupling includes several halves that are placed on the pipe and tightened with bolts. It also includes a threaded outlet onto which a valve is placed (preferably a ball valve). To allow water to enter the pipe, a hole is made through the coupling.

    Connection via crimp coupling

Features of installing the machine to the sewer system

When the work on connecting the washing machine to the water supply lines is completed, it’s time to think about where the dirty waste water will go. The device must be connected to the sewer system. This can be done in several ways.

  • Draining water into a bathtub or sink. A very simple option, but perhaps not the most reliable. Some manufacturers include a “hook” hose in the washing machine package, which is fixed to the wall of the bathtub or sink. Its advantage is that you do not need to bother installing the machine to the sewer. But there are many more shortcomings. Dirty water will stain the enamel of the bathtub, especially acrylic ones. A small blockage in the sink while draining the machine can cause flooding for your neighbors. Often, due to vibrations during draining of water, the “hook” falls to the floor, which can also cause a serious flood.

Draining water into a bathtub or sink

  • Connection via siphon. In order for the drain from the machine to be stationary, you will need to purchase. It has an outlet for washing machines, which should be located above the siphon elbow. Otherwise, dirty water will be sucked into the washing device. As a result, an unwanted foreign odor may appear in the device.
  • Connection to the sewer pipe. This is a way to connect the washing machine directly to the sewer pipe. It should have a thickness of 4 or 5 cm. To do this, use a seal and an S-shaped drain hose. The hose is inserted into the pipe so that it does not come into contact with wastewater. The upper part of the hose is placed at a height of 55 cm from the floor.

Electrical network for washing machine

The work on connecting the machine seems to be completed, but there is only one left important detail– power supply.

Advice. Preferably use a three-wire outlet. Protect yourself and ground the distribution board.

If you need an extension cord, only use one that is grounded.

A good option would be to connect the device with a separate wire from the electric meter. It has automatic protection installed. If such a wire has not been laid, then a portable RCD can be used.

Connecting a washing machine to communications is not a difficult task, but requires attention. Of course, it is better to leave it to professionals who will take care of all the aspects in order to further ensure the safe operation of the device. Do-it-yourself installation comes with many risks, but if you are prepared for them, then get to work.

When connecting a washing machine to a sewer with your own hands, first of all, select an area with a flat and hard floor near the discharge point. The distance from the equipment installation site to the intended point must be within the length of the drain hose.

You should pay attention to back wall washing machine: if the device has just been purchased, it is necessary to remove the transport bolts - their presence is determined by the holes in the plugs. The drain is usually installed at the bottom of the housing and, to prevent accidental discharge, the hose is raised to a special grip on the rear panel. The laying of the hose to the connection point should prevent twisting and pinching of the walls, so that nothing interferes with the free flow of water. There are several connection methods.

Discharging water without connecting to the drainage system

The method is the simplest - no intervention is required in the existing indoor sewage system. A drain hose is used over the edge of the bathtub, toilet or sink. Standard length - up to three meters, at great length the pump is not designed, and therefore it is not recommended to increase it. To prevent leakage to the floor, the sleeve is fixed using a plastic device in the form of a bracket. This standard fastener comes with the washing machine.

This method has disadvantages:

  • dirty water with the remains of washing powder and particles of debris flows along the white surface of the plumbing, leaving it in an unsightly state;
  • the bracket is not attached to the wall of the sink or bathtub, but is simply thrown over, which makes it possible for the hose to accidentally drop onto the floor, for example, due to increased vibrations of the machine during spinning;
  • when the processes of washing clothes and washing are combined, household members will observe a dirty stream with an unpleasant odor in the sink;
  • It becomes impossible to use the bathtub (toilet) until the operation of the device is completed.

To avoid the indicated inconveniences, accidental spills of water on the floor and problems due to leaks, it is better to use other methods of connecting the washing machine to the sewer. These schemes provide for a closed drainage of liquid into the drainage system, eliminating the entry of unpleasant odors into the bathroom.

Drain without sewer connection

Connection via siphon device

Connection via siphon

A convenient and easy-to-use way to connect the device to the spillway is to use a plumbing structure installed under the sink with a hydraulic seal to prevent the spread of odors from the sewer system. This product is called a siphon. It is produced in two versions: regular and with an additional outlet for connecting the washing machine hose. Depending on which model is installed, the connection is made:

  • with a pipe - you need to remove the plug from it, insert the drain hose and secure it with a metal clamp;
  • with the usual version, you need to replace the siphon with a new one and connect the hose in the same way.

The pump that pumps dirty water out of the machine is located at the bottom of the body, and on the rear panel there is a grip at a height of 60 cm from the floor. A correctly laid hose from the device to the connection point should be at a height of 50 cm at the junction, and its route should resemble the letter S.

All joints are sealed and checked for water leakage - to do this, both taps must be fully open. Some experts advise not to overdo it with the seal, but to leave small leaks to prevent the drained liquid from being sucked back into the tank. But this rarely happens. And most modern models washing machines are equipped with a drain valve. It prevents returns sewer water into the laundry drum and spontaneous leakage.

Siphons are also manufactured with a built-in check valve for connecting household appliances. The only drawback of connecting the washing machine to the sewer through a siphon is the sound (gurgling of water) from the neck of the sink when draining, which cannot be eliminated.

Direct connection to the drainage pipe

Direct drain to sewer pipe

This connection is made when the distance from the washing machine to the sink is more than 1.5 m. To connect to the sewer pipe, take into account the material from which it is made: a rubber adapter is installed on cast iron, and plastic on metal. You will also need:

  • Y-shaped tee;
  • tubes for installing a branch;
  • several cuffs and seals.

When connecting without a siphon, the drain hose is led directly into the splitter or slightly away from it if it is necessary to move the machine away from the sink. It is more convenient to install a tee directly on a horizontal sewer pipe under the sink.

When installing the drain directly into the drainage system, the sealing of the joints is ensured by rubber seals. The end of the hose does not touch the water level in the sewer inlet.

The hose route depicts the letter S, the outlet from the machine should be located lower than the connection point to the drainage. When installing plastic pipes to a remote washing machine, on the approach to it, you need to make a vertical bend with a rise of 30–50 cm.

Compared to the two previous connection options, the direct drain into the sewer pipe requires a significant investment of time and labor. But a correctly installed connection of the washing machine to the water supply and drainage system guarantees safe and reliable operation design during the service life of the device itself.
