Bath salt balls. How to make a bomb without citric acid. Bath bombs: how to make them. Basic Bomb Recipe. alcohol method

For a long time now I've been reading a lot of reviews of various bombs and bubbling bath balls that appear on the site, because so many companies have already released their own! I was always interested in trying such an unusual little thing for a bath, but I didn’t want to splurge on purchased ones. And then I decided to make it with my own hands)

What are bath bombs?

bath bombs- a great way to relax and unwind your mind and body while taking a bath. Once in the water, they begin to hiss, seethe and spin, spreading a delicate and pleasant aroma of essential oils or fragrances.

There are a lot of recipes for bath bombs. In their manufacture, you can use oils, citrus fruit zest, various herbs, green tea and other components. But they have one thing in common: after you take a bath with these “pops”, your skin will become velvety and fragrant, and lightness and pleasant relaxation will appear in your body. These bombs are sold in specialized stores, but you can make them yourself at home.

Main Components any bath bombs are two ingredients - soda And lemon acid. It is they provide the same hiss and seething, which occur on contact bombs with water. In principle, the simplest and easiest way to make bombs is to mix these two components in proportion 2: 1 (soda: citric acid). But for that to give bubbling balls color and flavor, you need something else)

First of all, you should decide how you will color the balls and give them flavor. Can be used for this special food colors and flavors, and you can add herbs and essential oils . In addition, there are many different additives that will allow bath bombs to become more moisturizing, nourishing, toning, relaxing, etc. - depending on what you want to get)

What to add?

Many do bubbling balls with sea salt, sugar or starch. Also sometimes added powdered milk, ground coffee And clay different colors. Additional components allow Not only decorate bombs, but also give them some useful properties.

In addition, you can add dry herbs or flowers. For my bombs, I decided to take those plants that were at hand. They turned out to be dried flowers room geraniums, dried rose buds And leaves And mint flowers. Some of them can not only give the bombs the necessary shade, but also give a light floral-herbal aroma.

But I preferred the fragrance essential oils , or rather, already finished compositions. I had them in a set for girls! from the realm of fragrances. In total, they present five different options , in which combined by three or four EMs, well combined with each other.

If you decide to use essential oils then I advise before adding to base for the bomb pre-enter their V base oil. In my case, it was Savonry grape seed oil. . But be prepared for what after the destruction of the bubbling ball, the oil will remain on the water with a thin film, A then on the skin. If you want that upon contact with water, the oil turned into milk then use polysorbate 80(or twin 80) .

To start need to take two parts soda , and then add one part citric acid . And before that I I additionally grind citric acid so that large particles become the same fine powder as soda. True, without the help of a coffee grinder, this does not always work out as perfectly as we would like. But it's actually pretty good.)

After this I add to the resulting powder dry herbs or flowers- two parts. After that I take one part base oil , which has already dripped a couple of drops of essential. The resulting mixture must be mixed well so that she became more homogeneous. Of course, it is unlikely that all herbs will be distributed evenly, especially if there are few of them)

Now from the resulting mass you need to make balls of the size you need. By the way, there is special shapes for bubbling balls, but I I prefer to make my own) When sculpting, I sprinkle lightly with water so that she easier to take the desired shape. The main thing is not to overdo it, otherwise a strong reaction will begin!

Then I I leave the balls to dry in a cool place, most often I even put them in the refrigerator for a while. After that they are quickly ready for use. Usually, it takes about an hour and a half + drying to make three small different balls.

And now I want to tell you a little about the mistakes that happen when making bubbling balls with your own hands:

Firstly, lack of water or oil can make the balls too dry and crack easily. A if there is too much oil, the balls will "float" and be slightly inflated. At the same time they become porous and flatten when pressed.

If you follow all the rules and fill your hand a little, you will get wonderful bath bombs, which, upon contact with water, will hiss and foam like mini-geysers)And after a bath with such a mini-bomb, the skin from the oil becomes very tender and soft. In my opinion, such homemade bubbling balls are no worse than purchased ones)

DIY bath bombs are not only cheap and useful, but also very exciting) And they allow you to experiment as you like! I recommend!

Thank you for reading my review to the end. I'm glad if it was useful for you) If you have any questions, please contact me, I will definitely answer)

The bath has long ceased to be just a means of cleansing the body. Now it is more of a pleasant ritual. However, this ritual is not always as useful as it is pleasant. So beloved by many bath foam, fragrant and fluffy - a "storehouse" of all kinds of parabens, phosphates, dyes, flavors and other "benefits of civilization".

How to make DIY bath bombs

There are two ways to make bombs

The 1st cooking method is to prepare bombs without using water. In this case, we take soda (2 parts), citric acid (1 part), and any natural filler(for example, 1 part milk powder), base oil (1 part) (this can be olive, oil walnut, sea buckthorn, almond), if desired, you can add essential oils based on 1 bath 10 drops. Grind citric acid in any way (be careful - lemon dust irritates the respiratory tract!). We mix all the components, put it in any form and leave for one hour.

The 2nd cooking method is to prepare bombs using water. For cooking, we use all the same components, in this case, you can refuse to use oils or reduce the amount. We inject water 1-3 times into the mixed components from the spray gun and mix immediately. Your mass should be slightly damp and sculpted. If you overdo it with water, then a reaction will begin in your bomb, without waiting for it to get into the bathroom. We put the finished mixture into a mold, having received the mold, we take out the finished bomb and leave it to dry.

ADVICE: When making do-it-yourself bath bombs, it is best to use as molds Silicone forms. Do not use plastic and rigid forms, it will be difficult to remove the mass from them.

Bath bombs are a great way to make your bath more enjoyable. Bombs come in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes, and can have a variety of scents. They often contain moisturizing oils that are good for the skin. But how to apply these dusty and hard lumps? In this article, you will learn not only how to use bombs, but also how to choose them and how to use them as efficiently as possible.

Steps

How to use bath bombs

    Choose a bomb. Bath bombs come in a wide variety of colors, shapes, and sizes, and can also be scented. Some have flower petals or glitter inside, others contain oils that moisturize the skin well (for example, almond oil or cocoa butter). Choose a bomb whose smell and color you like the most. If you have dry skin, look for oil bombs to hydrate your skin. Bombs can contain the following substances:

    • Essential oils (lavender, chamomile, rose). They not only give the bomb a pleasant smell, but also promote relaxation or invigorate.
    • Emollient and nourishing oils and butters: almond, Coconut oil, butter shea or cocoa. These oils are suitable for dry skin.
    • Other additives: glitter or flower petals that float on the surface of the water. They are needed only for beauty and can improve mood.
    • Salt, clay in powder or herb form. They soften, moisturize and nourish the skin.
  1. Try wrapping the bomb in a cloth. Some bombs have petals that can get stuck in the tub drain. To prevent this from happening, put the bomb in a small cloth bag or nylon stocking. Detergents, fragrances and oils will penetrate into the water through the fabric, and the petals will remain inside. When you're done taking a bath, you just need to empty the bag or throw it away.

    Try splitting the bomb in two. Bath bombs are quite expensive, but you can cut the bomb in half with a serrated knife - this way you will have enough of it for more long term. Use one half now and save the other for next time.

    Plug the drain in the bathroom and draw water. If you are making a bath for yourself, you should be comfortable there. Take as much water as you like and adjust the temperature. When you get the right amount of water, turn off the faucet.

    Put the bomb in the water. When the bomb is in the water, it will begin to bubble and foam. Then it will begin to fall apart and dissolve, and that's it. healthy oils and the salts will be in the water.

    Undress and stand with your feet in the tub. You can do this after the bomb is completely dissolved, or you can not wait for this moment.

    Sit in the bath. Take a comfortable position. Close your eyes, relax, meditate or read a book. The bomb will dissolve, and essential oils, nourishing and moisturizing oils and all other substances will be in the water: petals, sparkles, dyes.

    When the water has cooled, get out of the tub and dry off. Gradually the water will become colder. You can get out of the bath and flush the water. Don't stay in the water long time as the skin will wrinkle from moisture.

    Take a shower. Showering after a bomb bath is optional, but if you have used a dye or glitter bomb, it will be helpful. Flush the water, rinse in the shower and wash off the oil from the skin. You can also wash with a washcloth and shower gel.

    Wash your bath. Some bombs contain substances that can stain the bath. The paint is easiest to wash off when wet. Take a sponge for washing surfaces and rub the painted areas. If there are petals or glitter left in the bath, remove them with your hands or rinse them off with water.

Other uses for bath bombs

    Remember that the bomb cannot be stored for a long time. Bombs retain their shape only in a dry room, however, the fresher the bomb, the more foam will be when it dissolves. If the bomb is stored for too long, there will be much less foam and bubbles.

    Get rid of nasal congestion. If you have a cold, you can clean your nose with a bomb of eucalyptus oil. Fill up the bath warm water, throw such a bomb there and climb into the water.

  1. Have an aromatherapy session. Many bombs contain essential oils that have a positive effect on mood and help to relax, get rid of stress, or vice versa - to feel cheerful. When choosing a bomb, pay attention to the composition and find out what essential oils are there. Essential oils also give off a scent, so choose a scent that you enjoy. Here is a list of the most common bomb oils and their possible uses:

    • Lavender essential oil has a classic scent with fresh floral notes. It helps to cope with anxiety, depression and stress.
    • Rose essential oil also has a classic fragrance with sweet floral notes. Like lavender, it fights depression.
    • Lemon essential oil has a fresh and clean scent. It is uplifting, refreshing and energizing.
    • Peppermint and other similar essential oils have a fresh, invigorating scent. They help to loosen headache and deal with nausea. They are also energizing and refreshing.

There are many types of tinctures that can care for.

All this variety can be combined into a hissing bomb that will give you a lot of pleasure.

What's the secret?

Bath bombs are a mixture of lye and acid with all sorts of ingredients added. The last components are:

  • various aromatic oils;
  • natural components - flowers, clay, needles;
  • vegetable fats that help moisturize the skin. Most often used, almond, sunflower is also possible;
  • some water to hold the structure together.

The hissing process is based on the neutralization reaction- when exposed to citric acid, carbon dioxide is released, which creates the effect of bubbling.

Did you know?Soda is a substance that is part of human blood. Its slightly salty taste can be felt when a finger is cut.

How to DIY

To achieve the desired result from a bath bomb will help knowing the recipe for its manufacture and step-by-step instruction how to do it by hand.

What you need

Before you start, find all the components you need, namely:

  • baking soda;
  • citric acid;
  • sea salt;
  • vegetable oil;
  • flowers;
  • deep container for mixing;
  • measuring spoon;
  • coffee grinder;
  • form for the finished product.

Important!It is better to mix and grind bulk components using kitchen machines, since natural is sold in the form of large fractions and it will be very difficult to achieve the required degree of grinding by hand.

Step by step recipe with photo

By choosing the components that match your type and personal preferences, you can begin the manufacturing process itself.

To make one water bomb, for a single bath, mix the ingredients in the following proportions:

  • 4 tbsp. l. soda and 2 tbsp. l. acids. Stir the resulting mixture. For these purposes, an ordinary spoon will be enough, since both components are finely dispersed.

  • To the available substances, add 2 tablespoons of sea salt. If it is large, it is necessary to crush it in advance or use it on this stage electrical appliances to obtain a homogeneous mass (coffee grinder, mixer, etc.). Otherwise, when you use the bomb, the salt will dissolve very slowly, and you will feel sediment at the bottom of the tub. It can ruin all the fun.

  • In this recipe, we use cornflower flowers. It is better to sort out the petals from the inflorescences in advance and use only them. The use of "middles" will create a feeling dirty water. They are heavier than sheets, when they get into the liquid they will settle and will “float” at the bottom of the container.

  • The next step is to pour in 2 scoops of olive oil. It is used to moisturize the skin and to better hold our homemade bomb. This component will make the mass more malleable and we will be able to form it not only in the form of a bar, but also to make it look like a sphere.

  • To provide restful sleep It is recommended to use lavender essential oil.

Did you know?Lavender has the anti-inflammatory effects of sage and the soothing effects of valerian. And at the same time it has a pleasant aroma.

For a single use, just add 10 drops. After that, mix everything thoroughly, reaching the state of "wet sand".

  • On the resulting mass, spray a little water from the dispenser. We stop the supply of liquid with the appearance of the first signs of hissing.

  • The finished mixture is placed in a mold that will give a finished look to our product. Tamp tightly and leave for 10-15 minutes to solidify the components.

  • At the end of this time, turn the container over thick paper or cardboard to dry completely in the open air.

  • If during this process it crumbled a little, shape its edges with a knife or spatula.

  • It should take 5-6 hours before using it, maybe more.

The method of using the bomb is based on immersing the product in warm water. At the same time, you can see the bubbling effect of soda and acid, feel the pleasant smell of lavender. An oily film with petals forms on the surface and the liquid is filled with sea salt minerals.
All these components moisturize, tone and soothe your body.

Variety: choose the smell, color, effect

At home, you can make a wide variety of compositions for bombs. They can look exactly like the store ones, and if you dream a little, you will get real masterpieces.

You can achieve various using water-soluble liquid dyes. It is not recommended to take powder types of these substances for these purposes - they settle on the walls. Their use will allow you to make not only plain balls, but also interesting products with different color halves.

Natural coloring components do not have such opportunities, but their presence in the composition will give the ball very gentle tones, for example:

  • lavender - lilac;
  • jasmine - yellow;
  • combination, and neroli - light green;
  • and - orange;
  • cocoa - brown;
  • - from yellow to orange.
All these components perform not only aesthetic functions. After dissolving them in

wallow in warm bath- what could be nicer? Is that a bath with fragrant bomb. Buying it can be expensive, but making it yourself is quite easy and even interesting. You can make your bomb exactly according to the recipe, or get creative and create your own unique options: add various aromatic oils and ingredients that are good for the skin: dead sea salts, oils, flower petals and stuff like that.

You can find some bomb ingredients right in your kitchen, but if you want something more healthy for your skin, you will have to go to a health food store or visit a specialty body care department.

You can use your creations yourself or make a great gift for friends and family. Try to make a bomb exactly according to the recipe, and when you understand the technology, experiment with the ingredients.

Step #1 Equipment

For a homemade bomb you will need:

  • kitchen scales
  • large mixing bowl
  • cold water sprayer
  • latex hand protection gloves
  • eye protection
  • gauze dust mask
  • sieve to sift the mixture
  • bomb molds (if you don’t find a spherical mold, you can use any options for baking, for ice cubes, etc.)

Step #2 Ingredients

  • 300 g soda
  • 150 g citric acid
  • 5-10 ml of essential or aromatic oil to choose from
  • 5 ml of plain oil (it can be sunflower, olive, grape, sweet almond, jojoba oil or others, to choose from)
  • food coloring of desired color

It's better to make smaller bombs because they stick better and larger ones fall apart more often.

One more thing: start with a small amount, because first you need to find the best consistency. When making bombs, everything is important, up to weather conditions - at high humidity, you need to add less water, otherwise the bomb will turn into a bubbling mass.

Step 3 Mixing the Ingredients

Sift the baking soda through a sieve into a large mixing bowl so there are no lumps left. Mix baking soda and citric acid in a bowl.

Step 4 Add Oil

Add aromatic and regular oils to the bowl. Most essential oils won't make the mixture sizzle, but some, predominantly citrus, will. If this happens, mix them as quickly as possible.

Do not mix aromatic and essential oils together - add either one or the other.

Step 5 Separate the mixture

If you decide to make multi-colored balls, it's time to divide the mixture into different containers to color it differently. In the photo, the mixture was divided into three parts.

Step #6

Now we start to color the mixture. If you are using food coloring or cosmetics, add it drop by drop to get the color you want. Stir the mixture quickly with your hands so that it does not foam.

If you are using powder dye, just add a little bit to the mixture and mix until you get the color you want.

Stir until the mixture has a uniform shade, without spots. You need to mix especially carefully if you are using powder dye. It is best to “grind” the mixture between your fingers.

If the mixture gets wetter, don't let it sit, or it may settle. On the contrary, you need to do everything as quickly as possible.

Step 7 Add Water

Add some spray water, then stir continuously to avoid fizzing. Be careful not to add too much water - the mixture should still be a little crumbly but stick together if you just squeeze it in your hand.

Step number 8 Fill out the form

Fill the mold with the mixture. If you are using two halves of a sphere, place the mixture in each and pin them together. Do not twist the halves, just press them firmly together. Wait a few minutes, then carefully remove the bonded mixture from the mold.

Step number 9 Dry

Leave the finished bombs in a dry and warm place for several hours.

Step #10 Use or give

That's it, your fragrant homemade bath bombs are ready. Just drop them in hot water and enjoy.

Remember: the fresher the bomb, the more it will sizzle, and if you do not pack your products, it is better to store them in a dry place. You can wrap them in cling film to keep them fresh longer.

Well, if you decide to give them, just choose a beautiful package and a ribbon, and the gift is ready.
