But sometimes it's hard to come up with best material for crafts. So, today we are going to share a surprisingly simple idea that will use wine corks. In the end, we get a functional item for use in the kitchen - a hot stand. 
We need for the project the following materials and tools:
35 wine corks, spicy kitchen knife, cutting board, glue, tape aluminum foil, scissors. 
Stand of corks step by step We start cutting all the collected corks in half. While cutting, carefully twist the cork to get a clean edge. 
Proceed to glue the cut corks together, making sure that all the cuts are pointing up. Try to apply glue to the cut so that it does not seep from all sides. Choose a flat work surface, on which you will assemble the stand, connecting all the parts together so that you end up with a relatively even edge. Start with three corks, which are glued into a triangle, then add the next one after the other. 
Continue until you have a 20cm hexagon at its widest point. Some corks are slightly larger than others, so it's best to pre-assemble them before gluing them together. 
Let the glue dry for several hours. An aluminum strip around the stand will hold the structure together better. 
Next, cut a ribbon about 2 cm wide from aluminum foil. Its length should be about 1.5 times the circumference of the stand (it turns out about 90-100 cm).
Turn the cork over so that the cuts are facing down. To glue the aluminum tape, you can use double-sided tape. The bottom edge of the tape should be glued flush with the bottom edge of the caps. 
After attaching the foil to one stopper, use the edge of a pair of scissors to thread the tape into the gap between the stoppers. Then attach it to the next one and continue this process around. Overlap the ends a little, and then cut off the excess tape.
Wine corks are a great material to use as a coaster because they absorb heat. So interesting unique item will perfectly protect the surface of your table.

Some craftsmen lay out whole kitchen aprons from them and line the walls with them. Of course, a lot of corks are needed for these purposes, but if you don’t throw them away, but determine some kind of box for them (for example, from under shoes) and put them there, then sooner or later you will collect a certain number of corks. So you can independently make of them, if not a whole wall, then at least a beautiful panel. To enhance the effect, you can cover it with a transparent mother-of-pearl varnish, which is usually used for wallpaper.

Wine corks - universal option for a wide variety of crafts, useful and convenient. For example, they make excellent organizers for storing jewelry and jewelry. To make such an item, you will need a baguette frame with a backing, small hooks and glue. Make an organizer in the same way as coasters for cups and wine glasses. As for design, here you can show your creative nature to the fullest.
