A variant of the device for opening screw caps. Jar lid opener Jar lid opener

The Zelmer ZVC752ST multifunctional vacuum cleaner has a power of 1900 W and works in both washing and dry cleaning modes. Read more about its functionality and comparison with other models in this review.

  • Thomas Twin Panter - review, prices and reviews of a washing vacuum cleaner with an aquafilter. Advantages and disadvantages in relation to other washing vacuum cleaners.

  • In this review, we will look at the main features of the ILIFE V7s Pro robot vacuum cleaner, which you can buy both in regional online stores and on Aliexpress.

  • KARCHER tried to solve two problems of water vacuum cleaners at once - high energy consumption and noise in operation. The attempt turned out to be successful: the DS 5.800 model consumes 2 times less energy than the predecessors of the series, does not frighten with a deafening buzz and does an excellent job of cleaning.

  • As a rule, washing vacuum cleaners are quite heavy, and Bissell 81N7-J has relied on compact dimensions and low weight. At the same time, the power and volume of the aquafilter are quite sufficient for comfortable work- even automatic water heating is implemented.

  • Among the competitors of Clever & Clean Zpro-series Z10 II stands out with an unusual set of features. The robot not only vacuums, but also knows how to wipe dusty surfaces in the wet cleaning mode, and also disinfects the air with a built-in UV lamp.

  • Neato Botvac Connected is not just a cleaner, but a truly “smart vacuum cleaner” that can be controlled using an application on your smartphone. The owner can only set the parameters or select one of the preset modes. The robot itself will lay the best cleaning route and get back to the base, having finished the job.

  • Miniature vacuum cleaner, ideal for cleaning a room of 40-60 square meters. Foxcleaner Up attracts not only with its affordable price: a high-quality HEPA filter and a side brush guarantee no dust under the furniture.

  • Twist-top canning jars have become very popular these days. They are very convenient, easy to use, save time and effort compared to rolling machines. But here's the problem: spinning such a jar is easy, but opening it is often oh so difficult. Why this happens and how to deal with such a nuisance - we'll talk about this in today's article.

    Why don't they open

    Twist-off screw caps reusable very handy for canning. The principle of their operation is quite simple: when heated hot water or steam polymer coating inside the lid becomes softer, so that the jar closes tightly. After that, the lid begins to cool, its top retracts, creating a vacuum effect. In this case, a strip of polymer acts as a sealed gasket.

    Glass jars with screw caps are the most popular today for storing a variety of pickles and jams.

    To reuse the cover, you need to unscrew it carefully. To do this, you can use a special key or open the jar with your hands very carefully, unless, of course, you have enough strength. But most often it is precisely these forces that the hostess lacks, and a strong muscular man is not always there. The reasons why it is difficult to open a bank may be as follows:

    • slippery hands or jar surface;
    • the lid fits snugly to the neck of the jar, simply sticking to it, usually this trouble happens with jars of honey or jam;
    • the pressure in the jar is below atmospheric, causing the lid to retract more than necessary.

    Note! It is very important to know correctly in which direction to turn the cover. It closes clockwise and unscrews in the opposite direction.

    Before you start unscrewing the lid, take a closer look at the entire jar: maybe you should not open it to serve the contents on the table? If the lid is swollen, then the canned food is already spoiled. When unscrewing the lid, it can even fly off the jar and get into your face, and then all the contents will go.

    If you find a crack on the surface of the can, then you should not open it either. Perhaps air got inside, spoiling the food; even worse - microfragments of glass.

    How to easily deal with a screw cap

    Most often, such banks open without much difficulty, but sometimes, no matter how hard you try, nothing happens. One of my acquaintances constantly shows a funny trick: with the words “Open up, police!” taps the lid with his finger, and then unscrews it with a slight movement of his hand. How she does this - I do not understand, it does not work for me. But, fortunately, there are many other proven methods.

    1. Use a special key. Well, if you have kitchen drawer there is a special canning key for such lids. It works both for twisting and unscrewing, without damaging either the glass of the jar or the lid. Maybe you should buy it, especially since it is quite inexpensive?
    2. Hit. The easiest way to open a jar without a key is to turn it over, and, holding it on the weight, slap the bottom, or vice versa, put it on the palm of your hand, hit the lid. Works almost always, except for too difficult cases, when it's not a vacuum, but that the lid is stuck.

      It is worth knowing such a secret: it is better to twist not the lid, but the jar.

    3. Increase hitch. If the cause of difficulty is slipping off the hands, proceed as follows. The jar, lid and hands must be dry and free of grease. Put on a rubber or silicone glove (ordinary dishwashing gloves work well). In mild cases, you can do with a kitchen towel. Increases grip of lid and hand very well polyethylene film. Sandpaper can help too. Put some kind of “gasket” on the lid and start unscrewing the jar from the lid, and not vice versa. True, you still have to apply considerable torque. And if your hands also hurt, then this method is definitely not for you.
    4. Use the laws of physics. Take a leather belt, thread it through the buckle. Throw the resulting loop over the lid and tighten it tightly, counterclockwise. Then rotate so that the jar is directed clockwise and the lid is against its movement.
    5. Knock. Tap the top and sides of the tight lid firmly with something wooden or plastic - a spatula, a knife handle. Do this carefully so as not to damage the jar. If the reason is not that the lid is too worn, after such manipulations the bank will open without difficulty.
    6. ride. A simple method often helps: put the jar on its side, and roll the edge of the lid along the edge of the countertop back and forth several times, slightly pressing on top with your hand. The tightly pressed surface of the edge of the lid will relax a little, emitting a quiet pop, after which the jar will open quite easily.
    7. heat up. Fill a bowl with hot water and place the jar in it with the lid down. Leave it like this for 10 minutes, then remove and open. Running hot water will also work well if you substitute the ill-fated jar under an open tap. Under the influence of heat, the lid expands and is easier to unscrew. You can also put a very hot towel on the lid. And boiling water will heat the lid the fastest: just pour it over the sink directly from the kettle for a few seconds.

      Be careful. If too hot water gets on a very cold jar, the glass may crack.

    8. Depressurize. The problem is that the lid has retracted too much under the vacuum? So, you need to provide air access to the inside of the can. Insert a table knife between the neck and the lid and gently twist a little, pushing the edge of the lid away from the glass. A gap of 0.5 mm is enough for depressurization to occur.

      You can do this with a can opener, or in general any that you do not mind, but if you plan to use this jar with a lid further, it is better to take a table knife with a blunt rounded end - it will not damage the glass and will not scratch the lid.

    9. Lubricate the thread. For jars of honey and jam, this method is suitable: put the jar upside down, and between the neck and the lid, drop a little vegetable oil in several places. Leave on for 15-20 minutes. This should be enough time for the oil to seep into the cracks, lubricate the surfaces and make it easier to unscrew the cap.

      By the way, such “oiling” also has a nice bonus: the lubricated thread will not stick for a long time in the future. You just need to make sure that the oil does not get inside, into the product itself.

    Screw cap wrenches work on the principle of minimizing your unscrewing effort Take a knife with a thick round end to avoid chips and scratches, and pry off the lid, letting air in under it Try opening a screw-top jar while wearing household gloves. Vegetable oil perfectly lubricates the threads of the screw can and facilitates unscrewing The belt method is very old, but effective. Hot water perfectly heats the lid and the air inside the jar, after which it will not be difficult to open it

    I bought two different openers in the hardware store, one cheap and one expensive. Both that and another crumples covers. My husband and I now open jars like this: I hold the jar with both hands, and he also opens the lid with both hands.

    By the way, I accidentally found out that it is much easier to open cans in construction rubberized gloves. Mine are from Auchan, white thread, and the palm and fingers are in green rubber. Here is the class, hands do not slip on the glass, the jar does not break out of the hands.

    most the right way- with a knife or any other object, tap on the circle of the lid, along the edges. Will open immediately.

    Surely you have encountered the problem of unscrewing the lids from canned jars, which means that our tips will help you. Maybe you know of some other simple methods? Tell us about them in the comments. Good luck and easy work!

    Canned food is very popular in our country. This is especially true for various pickles. Their modern packaging is meant to be more convenient, but that doesn't always work. Probably many, having bought tomato paste or other products in glass containers, tried to unscrew the locking cap, it is not always so easy. Sometimes it takes a lot of effort. And all because of the special cover - twist-off. Cans are sealed with just one twist. It is much simpler than the conservation procedures that have been used before.

    So that in the future you would not have any difficulties when opening cans with a twist-off lid, you can make a very simple but effective device.

    Necessary materials

    Everything we need is quite easy to find:

    • wooden block small size(section 20×30mm);
    • Empty water bottle (volume 3 or 5 liters);
    • Several wood screws with a large hat (press washer);
    • An ordinary ice cream stick (for example, a popsicle).

    Required Tools

    You will need a minimum set of tools:

    • Hammer;
    • Hacksaw for metal;
    • Stationery knife;
    • Curly screwdriver;
    • Scissors.

    Work process

    Since, the main element of our future adaptation is wooden block, then we will start working with it. For greater convenience, it is recommended to use a carpenter's vise.

    From the bar it is necessary to measure a segment of 12 cm and saw it off. This will be the handle of our device. Now you need to cut one edge of the workpiece at an angle of 45 °. Places of cuts, process sandpaper or a file. On our future pen, with reverse side, perpendicular to the upper corner of the cut made, it is necessary to make a cut to the middle of the bar.

    We insert the strip from the bottle into the cut on the bar so that we get a loop (according to the size of the cap) and wedge it with an ice cream stick. We cut off the excess protruding parts with scissors. Fasten the edges of the strip on both sides of the cut with screws. It is recommended to pre-drill the holes with a 3mm drill bit.

    Now our device for facilitating the opening of twist-off lids is ready. You can test.

    Hello to all DIY lovers!

    I must say that this article aroused great interest among readers. Someone liked this method, someone wrote in the comments that they have been using this method for a long time, but on the contrary, someone did not like this method.

    But most importantly, this topic caused almost a whole discussion. At the same time, many readers shared in the comments and other folk ways, with which you can open jars with screw caps, for which I am very grateful to them. It must be honestly noted that I myself did not know about some of these methods before.

    However, since this topic almost never loses its relevance, today I want to continue it by describing the manufacture of a very simple screw cap opener.

    This idea came to me almost by accident, when I came across such a long M12 bolt with a nut and wide washers.

    From it, I decided to make a simple opener, and it took just a couple of minutes.

    Materials and tools

    So, to make this opener, I needed:

    Materials and fasteners

    • M12 bolt, 160 mm long, with a nut and two wide washers.
    • A small piece of dense and thick rubber.
    • Electrical tape or suitable heat shrink tubing.
    Tools:
    • Powerful scissors (you can use scissors for metal).
    • Utility knife or scissors (optional).

    Opener making

    In fact, we already have almost everything you need to make an opener. The only thing we are missing are two rubber washers so as not to damage the lid when opening it, and also to make the lid's grip on the opener better and more reliable.

    Therefore, we will make two rubber washers.
    To begin with, I cut out two squares of rubber that fit the pucks.

    Then, in the center of each square, cut holes for the bolt with scissors.

    Moreover, these holes do not have to be straight. The main thing is that a bolt can freely pass into the holes of the rubber washers, and the holes themselves can be uneven and crooked.

    Now it remains only to cut the rubber washers to the diameter of the steel washers, making them more or less round.

    Well, now, we can finally assemble our opener by putting the washers on the bolt and then screwing the nut onto it.

    So that when opening the covers, the tip of the bolt, which will serve as a handle for us, does not cut our hands, you can wrap it with electrical tape.

    And now our opener is ready!

    Opener tests

    Now let's check our opener in action.

    First, open a jar with a screw cap large diameter. To do this, we put our opener on top of the lid and crimp it with washers, tightly tightening the nut.

    After that, applying some effort to the handle of our opener, turn the lid and remove it.

    In this case, the cover is easily removed and remains sandwiched between the washers of the opener.

    By the way, it should be noted here that when the cover is clamped before opening it, the washers on the bolt are slightly warped, but this does not affect the result at all.

    Likewise, I opened the lids larger diameter on two other banks. The lids also opened without any problems.

    Opener Disadvantages and How to Fix Them

    In general, this opener turned out to be quite efficient, however, during the testing process, two small flaws were revealed, which, however, can be easily corrected.

    small pen

    Firstly, the handle of this opener turned out to be too short, which is especially true when opening large diameter lids.

    But this shortcoming can be easily corrected. b, if you take a longer bolt or even use a piece of threaded stud, about 200 mm long.

    Using the Right Nut

    Secondly, when clamping the lid before opening it, it is quite inconvenient to use a hex nut, since the clamping force created by the fingers is clearly not enough.

    This disadvantage is also very easy to correct if a wing nut is used instead of a hex nut. I simply didn’t have one at hand, although you can easily buy it at a hardware store (or you can try to make a homemade one).

    Well, in general, it is quite possible to use such an opener. Its great advantage lies in the fact that it can be done very easily and quickly. In addition, if this opener is no longer needed, it can be quickly disassembled, and the bolt with a nut and washers can be used for another purpose (in other homemade products or in construction work in an apartment or cottage).

    Well, that's all for me! Good luck to everyone in making homemade products!

    Everyone uses canned food these days. Their modern version is glass jar closed with a twist-off tin lid. Anyone who has ever opened such canned food knows that it is not easy to do it manually. It's all because of the small edges protruding from the back of the covers. They are screwed onto a jar, the neck of which is equipped with a large thread. When closed, the lid seems to be screwed into the jar.

    This method of sealing has replaced the labor-intensive classic seaming lids. Agree that it is much easier. Indeed, in order to firmly and hermetically close the jar, it is enough to turn the lid on the jar with a suitable thread to the stop. No seaming machines, everything is done by hand.

    On the other hand, not many people manage to open such a cover manually without damaging its edges. Today's homemade product will help solve this problem - an opener for twist-off lids.

    Materials, tools

    For our miracle invention, we need:
    • A small piece of a wooden block with a section of 20x30 mm;
    • Used 3 or 5 L PET canister;
    • Wooden ice cream stick;
    • Several self-tapping screws with a wide hat on wood (press washer).
    You need very few tools for work - a hacksaw for metal, a paint knife, a screwdriver, a pencil and scissors. And let's not forget about the most main tool in the workshop - a hammer! (Where would you be without it).

    Let's start tinkering

    The main element of our opener is a wooden block. He will work with him from the very beginning. For the convenience of processing it, the author used a vise, as shown in the photo.

    We clamp the bar in a vise and cut off a fragment of 10-12 cm from it for the handle. To make the cut cleaner, it is advisable to do this with a hacksaw with a fine-toothed blade.

    Next, cut off one end of the finished handle at an angle of 35-45 degrees. We clean the end with a small file or needle file.

    It should turn out exactly like this.

    From the side of the truncated plane, we mark a perpendicular line. We use the needle file as a ruler, and the marker for marking.

    We make an incision with a hacksaw to the middle of the bar. If the groove is too narrow. It is necessary to flare it with the same hacksaw blade or a paint knife, and refine it with fine-grained sandpaper.

    Cut off from plastic canister a strip with a width equal to our bar. With a paint knife, this work can be done as accurately as possible.

    It's time to use the secret weapon - an ice cream stick))

    With it we wedged plastic tape inserted into the slot made with a hacksaw. We knock it lightly with a hammer for reliability, trying not to split the bar at the same time. sticking out remnants wooden stick cut with scissors on both sides.
