Start with mounting boards

1. From 19mm material (I chose walnut), cut two mounting boards A measuring 102x610mm.

2. Draw a straight line down the middle of the width of each board. Place one leg of the compass on the line and mark a curve at both ends with a radius of 51 mm. File them with a jigsaw and sand both parts smooth.

3. Mark the centers of holes with a diameter of 4 mm on each part A. placing them on the center line as indicated in the pictures. These holes are used to attach the upper B and lower E combs. Set aside 16 mm down from the outermost holes of the top mounting board and 19 mm from the same holes of the bottom board to mark two holes on each of them, with the help of which the stand will be fixed to the wall. 4. Mill a fillet with a radius of 6 mm from the front around the perimeter of each mounting board and sand the parts again.

1. On a sheet of paper, draw a grid with square cells 25x25 mm. Using the drawing below as a guide, transfer the contours of the fish, the position of the eye and fins onto the mesh. To do this, mark all the points where the contour lines intersect with the grid lines. Then draw lines connecting these points.

2. Cut out a blank E measuring 20x127x356 mm from an oak board. Using carbon paper, transfer the outline of the fish and the center point of the eye onto the blank. Cut the fish along the contour and separate the fins from the body along the marking lines. (We used jigsaw machine, but this operation can also be performed with a hand jigsaw.) By dividing the workpiece into parts, you can simplify the subsequent grinding of the body and fins.

Z. Using a 10mm center point drill bit, make a 6mm deep hole in the center of the eye following the markings.

Secure the fish

1. Carefully glue the fins to the body of the fish and carefully remove excess glue.

2. Place the fish over the middle of the top mounting board A and trace the outline of the two fins with a pencil.

Finishing and installation of the stand

1. Give all parts a final sand and then apply any finishing coat.

2. From the foam sealing material used for insulating windows, cut six strips measuring 13x70 mm. Remove the backing paper and insert the strips into the top comb cutouts as shown in step 7 of Making the Top Comb. Using a sharp knife or razor blade, trim the protruding ends of the strips at a 45° angle as indicated in step 8.

I marked one of the blanks for cutting holes and then sawing it into two parts. First, the workpiece was marked in length into two parts, the width of which was 10 and 5 centimeters.

Then the middle of the workpiece was marked on the marking line. Points were marked from the middle of the workpiece in different directions at a distance of 10 centimeters. These points will be the centers of the holes that we will drill. Next, in making the stand, I used a circular saw with a diameter of 38 millimeters with an electric drill.

The holes were cut on both sides of the workpiece, because the saw used did not allow cutting through the panel.

After all the holes were cut, the workpiece was sawed with a jigsaw along the marking line along the workpiece. This is how we created the parts of the stand that will hold the fishing rods.

To support the rod, another blank was cut out, 76 centimeters long and 21 centimeters wide.

For the walls of the stand, two blanks 160 centimeters long and 15 centimeters wide were cut out.

This is the entire set of blanks needed to make a stand for storing fishing rods.

Next, I assembled the stand from blanks. A flat area for assembly was selected. The walls and shelves of the stand are aligned using a corner so that the angles are 90 degrees, i.e. so that the manufactured stand is not distorted. The pieces were assembled using hexagon furniture screws. First, a hole with a diameter of 0.4 centimeters was drilled, for the thickened part of the screw 0.6 centimeters, and then the screw was screwed in.

The assembly order is as follows;

  1. The top is 0.15 by 0.76 cm with the sides 1.6 by 0.15 cm.
  2. The bottom is 0.21 by 0.76 cm with the sides 1.6 by 0.15 cm, at an angle so that the edges of the small panel in width do not extend beyond the edges of the long ones.
  3. At a distance of 28 centimeters from the top edge of the stand, we screw the shelf, the blank is 0.15 by 0.76 cm.
  4. Then, at a distance of 22 centimeters from the bottom of the stand, we screw a 5 centimeter wide blank with cuts for the fishing rod. We send the cuts to inner part stands. We fasten the workpiece with ordinary wood screws, two on each side, having previously drilled holes for the screws.
  5. At a distance of 70 centimeters from the screwed lower workpiece with cuts, we screw a 10-centimeter wide workpiece with cuts for the fishing rod. We direct the cuts outward. We fasten the workpiece with ordinary wood screws, two on each side, having previously drilled holes for the screws.

That's all, the assembly is complete.
