Drawings for making jigsaw machines with your own hands. DIY jigsaw machine - drawings and video details Drawings of homemade jigsaws

A very fast and fairly compact tool, it can be incredibly useful for making straight and curved cuts. Appearance and the functionality of the jigsaws sold are impressive, making one believe in the incredible complexity of the design of these devices. In fact, to recreate such a mechanism, it is enough to understand the principle of its operation, have instructions and the desire to do something with your own hands. It is not necessary to be an expert in technology with many years of experience(although this quality will not be superfluous). Next, we will conduct a detailed analysis of the average jigsaw model with drawings, and provide two detailed manuals for independent production of such a tool.

How does an electric jigsaw work?

Although the device of a jigsaw is not particularly complicated, its mechanism has certain features that require familiarization. To understand how to make a jigsaw, you first need to understand what causes the saw blade to make reciprocating movements. For the clearest understanding of the principle of operation of the device, we will present the main components that make up the mechanism of the instrument and describe their interaction with each other.

The basis of any electric jigsaw is the following components: an electric motor, a gearbox and a rod with a saw blade clamp. Secondary, but no less important elements include the start button, support roller, cooling fan and sole. As additional functionality, many models have a pendulum stroke, a dust collector, lighting and a laser guide. We will not touch upon the operating principle of the latter, and will move on to a description of the interaction of the main elements of the mechanism.

The high-frequency movements of the jigsaw saw blade originate from an electric motor, started by pressing a button or directly from the network. Rotation is transmitted along the shaft to a special “gearbox” mechanism with an eccentric, which interacts with the rod, forming a reciprocating movement. The mount installed at the end of the rod holds the saw that makes the cut. To minimize the load on the rod with the gearbox, the rear edge of the saw blade rests against the support roller. Thus, all components of the device are involved to perform main task for sawing all kinds of materials.

Electrobolic drawings

A detailed study of any device is much easier when there is detailed diagram with a description of each element. Thanks to the exact names of parts with dimensions, the general understanding of the principle of operation of the mechanism becomes more clear. Below we have placed several detailed illustrations, since assembling an electric jigsaw with your own hands with detailed drawings is much easier than relying only on your understanding of the design features.

We hope that the presented diagrams will completely clarify your understanding of the structure of such a mechanism and give healthy food for thought in assembling your own jigsaw.

Making a jigsaw with your own hands

For a craftsman who understands the principle of operation of any mechanism, it will not be difficult to reproduce it, especially if he has detailed instructions. The bicycle has already been invented, and to make it yourself, it is enough to have a kit available necessary details and tools. The guide below will demonstrate in detail how to make a jigsaw with a complete listing of the elements and tools required for the job. The product being created is not a stationary device, but a mobile saw with an electric drive. The device has not much power, but it is enough to cut wood up to 5 mm thick.

Required materials:

  • Wooden block - 150x75x25 and 75x25x25 (width, height, thickness in mm)
  • Metal plates – long and rectangular (as in the photo)
  • Jigsaw blade with U-shank
  • Electric motor RS-540 12V (any similar one can be used)
  • Circuit closing button
  • Nozzle gas stove
  • Bicycle spoke
  • Plastic circle with a diameter of 260 mm
  • Plywood - 120x50x5
  • Set of self-tapping screws, bolts and nuts
By instruments:
  • Hacksaw for metal
  • Triangular file
  • Pliers (2 pcs)
  • Screwdriver or drill with a set of drills
  • Metal scissors
  • Pencil
When collecting materials, it is important to understand that the above components do not claim absolute accuracy and can be replaced with similar ones. When making a homemade jigsaw for cutting, you should be guided by the presented manual, but do not forget about ingenuity and improvisation. If the specified element cannot be found, you can always replace it with something.

Assembling the jigsaw will begin by cutting out the handle from a larger block. To do this, it is enough to make a cut, giving the rectangular board L-shape as in the photo. The dimensions of the cut part are set “by eye”, based on the preferences and size of the operator’s hand.

One of the most important nodes The device, which serves as a movable rod and clamp for the saw blade, requires increased reliability. This element is made of a long metal strip, 1 mm thick. At the end, trace the outline of the file shank, after which a notch is made with a triangular file to create a pressure plate. Part of the metal strip is bent with pliers along the contour of the shank, after which a file is installed in the improvised mount and drilled through hole for additional fixation with a bolt.

The saw blade mounted on the rod must be connected to the device using a guide. This part is made of rectangular metal plates. Using pliers, bend the center of the plate into a flat groove for the rod with side mounting lugs. To prevent abrasion of the wood and facilitate the movement of the saw, we apply a similar piece of metal to the front side of the prepared handle and screw it together with the groove. As a result, the following design should be obtained.

At the end of the rod, we carefully bend the metal until we get a kind of loop into which the end of the crank mechanism lever will be inserted.

We screw the previously sawn-off wooden rectangle to the top. It will serve as a stand for the motor, creating extra space for installing crank elements.

The conversion of engine rotations into reciprocating movements will occur using a simple mechanism made of a round plate, a gas nozzle and a weight-bearing spoke. In the center of the circle, drill a hole with a diameter equal to the threaded part of the nozzle (so that it fits as tightly as possible). Next, install the nozzle in place and fix it using epoxy resin. We put the dried structure on the electric motor shaft. If the nozzle hole is too narrow, you can widen it with a drill of the required diameter. Between the center and edge of the circle, drill another small hole with the diameter of a bicycle spoke.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to find the upgraded gas stove nozzle with a side screw used in the instructions everywhere. If only an ordinary one is available, it can be fixed on the shaft using tin and a soldering iron, as in the photo below.

Having combined the motor with the round plate, it's time to turn it into a real crank. To do this, take a bicycle spoke and use pliers to bite off the curved head and threaded part to form an even metal rod. Next, we retreat 10 mm from one end and bend it at an angle of 90°. We insert the bent part into the previously prepared eye in the rod and lift it up so that the saw fastening screw rests against the metal plate.

The accuracy of the next step is most important, since the amplitude of movement of the saw depends on it. It is necessary to determine the exact location for the second bend of the rod so that the crank and rod connected by it work most efficiently. To do this, we place the engine in the place of the future mounting and place the outermost hole of the circle upward. Next, we bring a rod to the hole, the opposite edge of which is inserted into the eye of the rod raised all the way and mark the place of the bend. We bend it at an angle of 90°, insert it into the hole of the circle and check the functionality of the mechanism. If the crank works as it should, fix the motor in place with a metal plate.

The next structural element will be the installation of a sole, which will also serve as a support for the saw blade. A similar part can be made from ordinary plywood, 5 mm thick. In the center of one of the ends, we make a small cut (20-30 mm) and pass the file of our jigsaw into it. We fix it with a self-tapping screw with a countersunk head.

The final stage will be installing the start button and connecting the wires. The button can be displayed in any place convenient for you. The author considered it necessary to place it on hot glue in the corner of the handle. Creating an elementary electrical circuit(motor-button-network and motor-network) and connect to a 12-volt power supply.

For a smoother ride, it is recommended to lubricate the rod with oil.

A more visual demonstration of this instruction, but unfortunately without comments, can be seen in the video below.

Homemade jigsaw for polystyrene

Assembling a fairly convenient and reliable device for cutting thin pieces of wood and polystyrene. This method is almost similar to the previous one, but has a more functional design. Compose detailed description How to make this electric jigsaw with your own hands is not necessary, since the design of the device is similar to the previous assembly. We will bring full list necessary materials and manufacturing tools.
  • Plywood 200x200x5 mm
  • Wooden block - 120x50x50
  • Spatula or sheet of metal, 1 mm thick

Cutting small pieces of wood is done with a jigsaw. The device is small in size and usually has an electric drive. Factory models differ in their characteristics and cost. For small volumes of wood processing, it makes sense to make a jigsaw machine yourself, using improvised materials. This requires a few factory parts.

A factory-made jigsaw is a reliable device, the operation of which is guaranteed by the manufacturer. Manual models are low cost. Stationary devices are expensive, but provide proper comfort when processing wood. The set of components in the device is largely the same for everyone.

The design consists of the following parts:

The part to be processed is placed on the work table. The size of the workpiece depends on its dimensions. Some models have Rotary table, which makes working with the part easier - visibility improves. The presence of graduations makes it easier to mark the material.

Average characteristics of factory machines:

Models for specialized purposes may have radically different characteristics. There are no specifications large sizes, for processing small parts. As well as models of large sizes, the industry also produces them for retail sale. But such options will be very expensive.

In the middle class there is high competition for consumers, so the devices will be cheaper. The characteristics are also tailored to the typical tasks of a carpenter. Based on them, you need to make drawings of a jigsaw machine with your own hands. Complex components for it are purchased in the store.

Experts classify jigsaws by type of design. The design features of the mechanism determine the processing capabilities of wooden products.

The classification is carried out depending on the design of the jigsaws.

Device types:

  • With lower support.
  • Double-support.
  • On a pendant.
  • With degree scale and stop.
  • Universal.

Models with a lower support have become most widespread. The frame of the desktop factory device has 2 halves - lower and upper. The sawing and chip cleaning model is located on the top of the bed.

The lower frame contains a controller, an electric motor, a final drive, and an on/off button. This machine allows you to work with any materials and any size.

The presence of two supports in a jigsaw is advantageous in that the upper half of the bed has an additional rail. This jigsaw is ideal for cutting small parts. The thickness of the workpieces on both models should not exceed 8 cm. The worktable of such machines, as a rule, can be adjusted in height and angle of inclination.

Suspended devices do not have a fixed frame, but are distinguished by their mobility. The material being processed is set motionless, and the master moves the working module. since the latter is attached to the ceiling, the thickness of the material is not limited. The tool is moved manually, regardless of the bed. This allows you to make patterns of complex shapes.

The presence of a scale of degrees and stops is suitable for those craftsmen who carry out processing according to the drawings. Marking allows you to avoid errors when working. There are universal models of machines on the market that allow you to perform several operations. This machine allows you to perform drilling, cutting, polishing and grinding. The cost of such devices will be much higher, but working with them will be more comfortable. These are industrial specimens.

Designs and drawings of options presented on the network homemade jigsaw are different. This is due to the imagination of the authors and the desire to make a device that will stand out from the rest. Only the concept is the same in most cases - they take a manual jigsaw as a basis and repurpose it.

Home woodworking enthusiasts often look for information on how to make a jigsaw with their own hands without any special skills. You can use a ready-made manual jigsaw as a base. The mechanism does not require careful modification. Factory handheld device- this is the drive. But the crank mechanism will have to be developed independently. Manufacturers are trying to offer consumers platforms for quick remodeling, but personal needs can only be satisfied with their product.

Assembly order:

  1. A support table is made. A sheet of metal is taken as a material and a hole is made in it. The shape is oblong, 3-4 times wider than the saw blade. Holes for fasteners are made nearby.
  2. The factory device is fixed at the bottom of the support table. Holes for fasteners are made next to the hole for the saw blade. Countersunk head screws are used as fasteners. This is necessary in order to ensure a perfectly flat plane of the table. Otherwise, the processed products will cling to the caps of the wines, which will cause inconvenience in work.
  3. The structure is fixed on a wooden table.

The advantage of creating a jigsaw machine with your own hands is that the factory tool can be disconnected at any time. When necessary, you have an ordinary manual jigsaw in your hands. Therefore it is better to purchase manual option a tool that can be used on a homemade machine - it’s cheaper. Stationary devices are expensive.

Comfortable work with wooden products can be ensured by installing guide rails on a homemade support table. Additionally, markings are applied to the table, which makes it easier to measure distances on parts during processing.

Jigsaw manual type as the main device for the machine has disadvantages. The main problem is the file - it is too wide manual models. Because of this delicate work It is difficult to do on wood with it - the curvature of the lines is limited.

The previous design is simple and does not have additional parts that make working with wood easier. The direction of modernization is the possibility of replacing the file with a thin one.

Options for improving the design:

  1. Build a rocker. The structure will be tensioned by springs on one side. The second side of the rocker is fixed to the file.
  2. Secure the file between two rollers. They serve as guides for the thin file.
  3. A stationary factory device is used as a drive for a system of two rocker arms. A file is pulled between the latter. The movement is transmitted from the factory device to the lower beam of the saw.

Design upon purchase or self-production you have to choose based on personal preferences and desire to tinker with technology. Using guide rollers is a less popular option - its reliability is poor.

Modernization by installing rocker arms is common. It is better that the factory device only serves as a drive for the jigsaw file. To do this, you need to turn off the pendulum stroke in the tool.

The heir to the grandparents' property often gets the old sewing machine. It has already served its purpose for sewing clothes, since more precise equipment is now being produced. If you don’t have a jigsaw on your household, you don’t have to spend money on buying one. It is made with your own hands from a sewing machine.

Procedure:

Now the jigsaw for figured sawing ready for plywood. WITH manual drive It will be more difficult to work because your legs will get tired. Additional disadvantage Vibrations from force on the tool will serve. The electric drive of the machine, converted into a jigsaw, partially solves the problem of vibrations.

An expensive jigsaw can be replaced with a design self-made. It will not be inferior in quality and functionality if you approach the assembly process responsibly. It is important to make high-quality plywood mechanisms that serve as a support table. It is desirable that the table be able to rotate. For the version with a sewing machine, this will not be possible. If desired, markings are applied to the table to make it easier to measure parts during work.

A tabletop jigsaw machine will be useful to every craftsman who cuts out thin parts. However, it is not always possible and meaningful to purchase a full-fledged machine. In that case, get down to business and make it yourself!

The structure of a jigsaw machine - what lies inside?

Jigsaw machines are more related to special tools than to devices that are needed as to an experienced master, and for the amateur who manages the garage. Their purpose comes down to a special task, namely cutting out complex curved contours from sheet materials. A special feature of such machines is the execution of cuts without violating the integrity of the external contour. Most often, sawing occurs on wooden and derivative materials (plywood, chipboard, fiberboard), although modern machines equipped with appropriate saws can also work with other materials, for example, plastic or plasterboard.

Such equipment has found application in the music industry (manufacturing musical instruments) and, of course, in the furniture room. Those who like to make things in their own workshop also buy such units. The structure of a traditional jigsaw machine, designed according to all the rules, looks like this: the working surface on which the saw is mounted hides a drive (electric motor) and a crank structure underneath. The tension mechanism can be located either below or above the machine.

To process a part, it must be placed on the workbench. Many models have the ability to rotate it at different angles to make bevel cuts. Stops and guides on the surface, as well as swivel mechanism may have markings, which greatly simplifies and speeds up the work. The length of the cut depends on the length of the work table - most models are limited to 30-40 cm. Electric motor power is an important, but still far from the most fundamental factor, since the machine has a huge reserve of unclaimed power. For example, for a home workshop or even small production, an “engine” of only 150 W is sufficient.

The crank mechanism is much more important detail, because in this case the quality of transmission of the drive torque into the translational-reciprocal motion, directed in vertical plane using a file.

Standard jigsaw machines are considered to be devices with an amplitude of movement of around 3-5 cm and a vibration frequency of up to 1000 per minute. Many models provide a change of speed mode for different materials. The jigsaw file itself is usually made up to 35 cm long and is capable of sawing material up to 10 cm thick. The width of the files can vary in a fairly wide range - from very thin two-millimeter to coarser ten-millimeter, with a thickness from 0.6 mm to 1.25 mm.

Even the thickest and widest file will easily break if you do not provide sufficient tension along the entire length of the file. Leaf and coil springs are used for this. Quite often such machines are equipped air pump, which cleans the cut from sawdust using a blower, as well as a drilling unit. The latter device is especially useful, because in this case the master does not need to be distracted by the connection electric drill and drilling a hole - everything happens on the working plane of the machine. Of course, you have to pay for convenience!

How to make a jigsaw with your own hands from a manual jigsaw?

On the Internet you will find many different designs homemade machines, but most of them come down to repurposing into this device. By using your ingenuity and watching the video, you can easily make a homemade jigsaw from this tool. The jigsaw only needs a little modification. In fact, it plays the role of a machine drive and a crank mechanism, but the rest needs to be thought out and implemented.

Of course, manufacturers are trying to please consumers in this area as well, offering their own platform options for quick and convenient remodeling, however, in reality only you can make a device that suits your needs. So, the first step is to make a support table, for which they most often use sheet metal. You need to make a beveled oblong hole in it for the saw blade and holes for fasteners (countersunk screws are recommended), and attach the jigsaw to the bottom of the support table.

This structure can only be strengthened wooden table. You can go beyond this and install guide rails. The convenience of such a device lies in the fact that in addition to performing functions that are not entirely inherent to it, you can always disconnect the drive and with a slight movement of your hand turn it back into a manual jigsaw! If you constantly need this tool for work, it makes sense specifically for the machine - it will be cheaper than spending money on a real machine.

Advantages and disadvantages - we continue to modify!

But such a unit inherits not only the advantages of the tool, but also its disadvantages, in particular, the file is too wide for filigree work, which significantly limits the curvature of the lines. If there is a need for this, there will be a way out. So far, our machine differs from the classic jigsaw unit in the absence of springs that would ensure sufficient tension on the file. But it’s quite easy to build a simple rocker, which on one side will be under the tension of springs, and on the other, fixed to a nail file.

There is another option - to clamp the nail file between two guide rollers, but the first option is still more reliable. Be sure to turn off the pendulum action on your jigsaw before using it. homemade machine. There is another design - if your tool is powerful enough, then it can only serve as a drive in a structure of two rocker arms, between which a nail file is stretched. The movement is transmitted through a file attached to the lower rocker.

Machine from a sewing machine - giving a second life to old tools!

If you inherited a foot-operated or manual sewing machine from your grandmother or mother, consider yourself the owner of an excellent jigsaw machine! Of course, for this you need to “work a little magic” on the machine. First, remove the thread weaving device, which is usually located at the bottom of the machine. There is nothing complicated about it, just unscrew two bolts. Then we knock out the cotter pin and remove the drive shaft leading to the thread weaving mechanism.

Having unscrewed the top panel that protects the mechanisms, it is necessary to expand the slot in which the needle went. Be guided by the needs and width of the nail file that you will use in your work. Files for a jigsaw machine of this kind also need to be slightly modified, namely, cut to the maximum length of the needle that could be used on this machine. Having ground off the upper teeth and sharpened the lower part to the point, all you have to do is insert the file into the needle holder and test your machine in action!

Manual power tool very popular both among amateurs and among professionals due to its obvious advantages, namely:

  • comparative cheapness and availability;
  • compactness;
  • mobility.

Reverse side of these unconditional advantages is the presence of such shortcomings, How:

  • relatively small continuous operation time;
  • small achievable accuracy;
  • insufficient quality of processing.

Obviously, these shortcomings are free professional stationary solutions - machines and machines on massive frames. As a result, they are quite not cheap, but the main thing is that they need to be placed somewhere. What to do if it is not possible to equip workshop, but I want to improve quality works? This question is asked by many of those who are passionate about a serious hobby, and even just beginners. masters

In our article we will talk about decision, allowing to eliminate known shortcomings manual jigsaw.

Advantages of a tabletop jigsaw

The general ones discussed above flaws hand power tools are fully inherent and jigsaw.

Its main advantage is mobility – involves exclusively manual movements and fixation tool. That is, in reality it turns out that:

  1. Very difficult to do smooth, a clear cut: the slightest extra movement - and a visible flaw appears in the cutting line. Those included in the kit guides do not save due to their insufficient rigidity;
  2. Corner tilt The saw blade in relation to the workpiece is actually not controlled in any way. And even in the simplest case of direct cutting, when the blade perpendicular jigsaw sole, the result may disappoint. There are at least two reasons:
    • Saw blade – elastic and can bend during the cutting process, the free edge of the file is not limited by anything;
    • On affordable (read: cheap) models, it’s quite often ideal direct the angle between the file and the sole is difficult reach due to the very design of the cheap stamped grounds.

Interesting Mark, what, say, American craftsmen use manual jigsaw is quite rare. For example, when you need cut opening in the kitchen countertop for installation sinks In other cases, they prefer to use stationary band saws of various sizes. Such saws are completely devoid of some disadvantages (mentioned above), and are fully endowed with others: dimensions, weight and... price.

To summarize above, we can confidently conclude that, in some way securing jigsaw on the workbench, it is possible to a certain extent win some of its shortcomings. And if you provide guides rollers for free edge canvases files, you can get a completely even cut. And clean - at correct selection the file itself.

Therefore, special jigsaw table will significantly improve the quality of work with this tool.

Of course, you shouldn’t think that in this way you can get “cheaply” full-fledged tape saw. But more on that a little later, now – briefly about what will be needed for production.

Materials and tools

Materials can be used from those available at hand. I would just like to note that the working surface(“countertop”) must be level and sufficiently tough, Therefore, when choosing a material, you need to keep the following points in mind:

  • Can be used plywood, however, thin (less than 12 mm) plywood is susceptible to warping, and it’s not a fact that the existing piece will be quite even.
    Waterproof would be preferable laminated(“formwork”) plywood thickness from 12 mm.
  • If we talk about (chipboards), then in general case the thicker they are, the better - the more rigid. Ideally - a piece quality laminated kitchen table tops or "post-forming".
    Disadvantages: less reliability mounts tool, you need to take a more responsible approach to the choice of fasteners.
    From advantages, perhaps the main thing is accessibility and simplicity: you can order all set parts according to their dimensions in any furniture workshop. Thickness It’s better to take not the standard 16 mm, but a larger one (for example, 22 mm).
  • Metal its properties are almost perfect, but in everyday life it is quite difficult to find a piece of suitable size, polished and smooth. In addition, making the necessary holes in it is somewhat more labor-intensive, then it is wise to use drilling machine.

Set of necessary tool will depend on the selected materials, but in general it is approximate scroll something like this:

  • pencil, roulette or a ruler, a carpenter's square - for marking;
  • square will also be useful at the stage final assembly and settings;
  • screwdrivers and nuts keys according to the selected fastener;
  • screwdriver or drill, drills for fasteners, self-tapping screws (screws).

In addition, you will need rectangular metal bracket, two identical bearing and fasteners. Actually myself jigsaw will also come in handy.

Manufacturing stages

Regardless of the chosen material necessary:

  • manufacture base and connect to the working surface with holes for attaching the sole of the tool;
  • make a system brackets for the upper saw blade guide;
  • collect and adjust table.

Base and work surface

Dimensions grounds are selected based on dimensions available jigsaw and are indicated approximately.
Dimensions work surface also indicated approximately, from the bracket mounting side it mounted flush with the base, on the other three sides made small projection for ease of fastening rigging(clamps, stops, etc.).

Device bracket with guide bearings is clear from the figure.
Sizes can be chosen individually, but some Necessarily need to be kept in mind.

which limit the movement of the file to the side, you need pick up based on the size of the files you plan to use. Width the bearing itself (in reference books it is indicated by the letter IN) must not be larger than the width files, so as not to dull its teeth.

So, for example, if width metal file blades (T123X, T118A) usually more than 5 mm, then they will be suitable bearings with size B 4–5 mm, for example:

Wherein prefer follows the model with the letters ZZ, 2RS as the most protected from exposure to dust, which will certainly occur during the cutting process.

Saw blades tree, on the contrary, they can be narrow (T244D about 3.5 mm) and very narrow (T119BO about 3 mm, which can be used in our case). As an option - bearing 100093 (aka 693, 3 x 8 x 3 mm).

Selected bearing fastener: M3 or M4 screws, nuts (preferably “self-locking” with nylon insert that prevents spontaneous unscrewing).

Distance between axes bearings are also calculated based on the size of the files, thickness canvases may be within from 0.9 to 1.7 mm.

For example, thickness blade T244D is 1.25 mm, and T123X, T118A - 1 mm. It is better to round in big side.

Assembly and adjustment

Bracket can be secure in the following way

This method of fastening will make it possible adjust and the height of the guide bearings in accordance with the length of the saw, and (using a square) perpendicularity the saw itself relative to the work table.

As mentioned above, you shouldn’t delude yourself - even though it’s no longer easy jigsaw, but still not a band saw. Here are some tips:

    • IN band saw movement saw blade occurs only in one direction – top down, due to which the workpiece is pressed against the table by cutting forces.
      It is not possible for the workpiece to explode upward, since the pendulum of the jigsaw moves and returnable movement.
      Therefore, the workpiece needs to be well press to the working surface of the table and the most important thing is to feed (move) the workpiece as much as possible slower.

Note! More revs and less feed is much better than vice versa.

  • When working with a jigsaw (with or without a table) it is useful to remember that move jigsaw files are usually about 15–20 mm, You need to read this value for your instrument in the instructions or determine it yourself. Material thicker than this size should only be sawed with divorce teeth Otherwise shavings will not be completely removed, which can lead to overheating and jamming of the canvas.
  • Between the working surface of the table and sole jigsaw can lay a sheet of dense rubber, Having previously made a cut for the file. Assemble the table and let the canvas work a little idle, so that the canvas “grinds” to the slot in the rubber. This will protect moving units of an inverted jigsaw from a large number sawdust, for which it is not designed, because in normal mode the tool designers clearly did not count on such a number of them.
  • Protective glasses - necessary. You also need to organize the device to be turned on via pedal or provide another way instant turning off the tool. But this is a topic for another article.
  • Do not be afraid creatively think and improve your tools, because any idea - just a starting point for creativity, and universal there are no solutions.

For more information on making a jigsaw table, see video:

The jigsaw is convenient and useful tool on the farm. Electric jigsaw greatly speeds up the work and expands the possibilities of using such a tool. But real quality can only be achieved by installing stationary device– jigsaw table.

Having transformed hand tool With a small machine, you can create original creations from a variety of materials. This table allows you to make the most complex patterns and ornaments. The device will undoubtedly appeal to lovers of high-quality manual labor.

Features of an electric jigsaw

A jigsaw is a type of saw with reciprocating movement of the cutting element (blade), in which the rotational movement of the electric motor is converted into translational movement of the saw in the form of oscillatory movements with a frequency of up to 50 cycles per second. This jigsaw makes it possible to make cuts inside a flat sheet in any direction, incl. with a rotation in an arc with a diameter of at least 3 cm. It can be used to cut many materials: chipboard, wood (up to 70 mm thick), a metal sheet(steel - up to 3 mm, copper, aluminum - up to 20 mm), tiles, plastic, natural and artificial stone.

Sawing the material is done by moving the saw upward. In addition, the file is provided with transverse vibration due to the presence pendulum mechanism. This improves the quality of straight lines when sawing. The tool provides adjustment of the speed of movement of the nail file, which is important when cutting different materials.

So, when cutting in wood, you can set the speed to the highest possible speed; when working with plastic or aluminum, use the medium speed range; For steel and tiles, the speed must be reduced to a minimum. A special mechanism allows for cutting when inserting the file at an angle.

The file is secured in the jigsaw with its shank, in which a slot is made ( the best option– cross shape). The shank is secured in the block using two screws. The design of the clamping pads (chucks) may be different for different jigsaws. The files themselves have different tooth shapes for different materials.

Features of a table jigsaw

The use of a manual jigsaw implies that the workpiece is permanently fixed, and sawing is carried out by manually moving the jigsaw. The quality of the cut in this case depends entirely on the “steadiness of the hand” and the skills of the master: the accuracy of the line, the angle of insertion of the file, etc. A tabletop jigsaw changes the picture of the process: an electric jigsaw is fixed stationary in a vertical position at the bottom of the table, and the workpiece moves along the table surface only guided by hands.

In this case, firstly, the sawing process is physically facilitated; secondly, the quality of the cut is improved due to the strict verticality of the file and the accuracy of the workpiece movement when using guides. In addition, positioning the saw blade in an upward direction reduces the risk of surface chipping at the edges of the cut. The file has stable movement due to the use of mechanisms that ensure its tension and precise orientation. The jigsaw is securely mounted on a fairly massive and durable frame, which eliminates unwanted vibrations and movements of the tool.

In general table jigsaw represents stationary machine. Its design includes a table with an electric jigsaw mounted on it, as well as a system for guiding and tensioning the saw and a system for fastening and guiding the workpiece. The simplicity of the design allows you to make a table with your own hands. The size of the table is selected based on the size of the workpieces and parts being processed. To install sheets of significant size (for example, chipboard), additional extension systems may be provided.

The simplest design

You can make a simple table with your own hands very quickly. Used as a working surface plywood sheet thickness of at least 10 mm and size depending on the size of the workpiece being processed. For small workpieces, it is enough to take a sheet measuring 50x50 cm. In the central part, stepping back approximately 20-25 cm from the edge of the sheet, drill a hole with a diameter of 20-30 mm for a jigsaw file. At the bottom of the sheet, using the hole as a center, mark the fastening of the jigsaw sole. If there are no holes on the jigsaw sole, they must be drilled on drilling machine in the amount of 4 pieces and cut the M8-M10 thread. Four holes are drilled in the plywood sheet according to the marks.

Legs made of steel strips 3-4 mm thick and 30-40 mm wide are attached to the corners of the sheet. The height of the legs is determined by the size of the jigsaw body (to the sole) with an addition of 2-3 cm. The legs at the bottom need to be bent outward at a right angle and 1-2 holes with a diameter of 6-8 mm drilled into them for fastening. An electric jigsaw is attached to the bottom of a sheet of plywood so that the file comes out through the hole. Manufactured simple table with your own hands, which can be attached to any surface (workbench, table, etc.) and work.

An even simpler design does not include legs, but is attached to the edge of the workbench with clamps (two on each side for strength). The jigsaw should be outside the workbench. This DIY table can easily handle wooden pieces up to 3 cm thick.

Slight design complication

You can do a little more complex table with your own hands. To do this, a frame is made of three panels Chipboard thickness 12-15 mm (two side panels measuring 50x80 cm and a back panel measuring 70x80 cm). The structure is assembled using wooden block or furniture corners. At the bottom, it is advisable to make a reinforcing lintel from a wooden block. The front of the frame does not close to provide access to the start button.

The top panel is made of a sheet of plywood with a thickness of 10-12 mm and a size of 70x100 cm and is equipped with a jigsaw in the same way simplest design. To eliminate saw blade vibration during cutting, it is provided simplest system stabilization. The file is passed between two bearings with a diameter of 10-12 mm. The bearings are mounted on a bracket made of steel strip, which, in turn, is fixed to the tabletop. On the tabletop you can install guides and limiting slats made of wooden blocks or aluminum profile. It is better to fasten them to the edges of the tabletop with clamps, which will make it possible to move them along the table. For precise movement, you can attach a tape measure to the ends of the tabletop.

Table based on bars

More complex design involves making a table from wooden beams. In this case, the table is assembled from timber (legs from timber 80x80 mm, lintels from timber 40x80 mm) with a joint using the tongue-and-groove system.

To strengthen the structure, you need to use wood glue, dowels and screws. The distance between the legs is 60-70 cm. The legs are strengthened with collets. At the junction of the beams and collets, holes are drilled and dowels are secured. The height of the table is set by the manufacturer based on the ease of maintenance of the machine.

The table top is made from laminated plywood 18-20 mm thick, 90x90 cm in size. For ease of changing blades, the tabletop is made in a lifting version. To do this, it is attached to one of the table collets using hinges. It is more convenient to remove the file if there is a cut from the hole to the edge of the table top. It is recommended to make such a cut.

The jigsaw mounting system should be complicated to ensure its removal. The sole of the jigsaw is pressed against the tabletop by two wooden planks, on which a profile is made by cutting out a quarter of the timber. The jigsaw sole fits into this profile, like a runner. To fasten it, holes are drilled in the bar and clamping screws with a wing are installed.
