You can make your interior stylish and unusual with the help of an infinity mirror, which creates a visual illusion and amazingly transforms the room.

Thanks to the tunnel effect, such a mirror expands the space and amazes the imagination with its bottomless depth. Moreover, the darker the room, the more mysterious the volumetric reflection will look, lost in the twilight.

The cost of a tunnel mirror depends on its size:

Size(mm) 600 x 800 700 x 700 800 x 800 900 x 900 900 x 1000 your size

Such a decoration will look very impressive in a club, hotel, bar and any other establishment where all the most original and fashion trends design.

Infinity Mirror will give any interior an ultra-modern look and fit perfectly into the futuristic style. With its help you can transform a wall, ceiling, bar counter or countertop. This is one of the most spectacular and fashionable ways to enliven and visually expand a room.

The appearance of reflection depth, that is, the effect of an infinity mirror, is created using bright LED backlight and multiple reflection of light in two parallel mirror surfaces.

How is the "infinity" effect achieved?

Mirrors have different transmittance and reflection coefficients. On the back wall there is an ordinary mirror with a reflection coefficient of 100%. The front part of the mirror is one-way glass, through which only 50% of the light passes and is reflected. LEDs are placed along the perimeter between these two parts.

Thus, infinity mirror effect is that you can see each multiple reflection of a light source, but the brightness of each subsequent image is reduced by 2 times. The observer sees an endless cascade of lights receding into the darkness. The backlight can be single-color or multi-color at the request of the customer. The thickness of the mirror panels varies from 5 to 10 centimeters, creating the appearance of bottomless depth.

The infinity mirror "Tunnel" is equipped with adjustable backlight brightness using a remote control remote control. The brighter the light, the stronger the illusion of depth. When the backlight is turned off, the device looks like this. You can change the lighting modes and color transitions, and some models have a “music” mode, in which the LEDs blink in time with the music playing.

Using an unusual mirror in interior design.

The shape, size and design of this unique item decors are selected individually and limited only by the customer’s imagination. You can experiment with the infinity mirror effect by placing one shape into another (for example, a circle into a square or vice versa) and thus complicating the optical illusion. Such experiments will be of particular interest to designers who are ready to turn the most daring ideas into reality.

By purchasing this product, you will add a touch of novelty to your home and will definitely be satisfied. You can purchase this stylish item not only for yourself, but also as a gift to loved ones or work colleagues. Such a pleasant surprise will amaze your friends and will be remembered for a long time.

To order a Tunnel mirror, you just need to select its size, shape, number and color of LEDs, type and shade of frame (wood or metal), features for adjusting brightness and level of reflection depth, as well as installation location (wall, ceiling, countertop or even floor).

It is not difficult to explain this optical effect theoretically. You can even create an illusory endless tunnel with the help of an ordinary candle: this magic was used by many girls of almost all generations, conducting Christmas rituals of fortune-telling. Due to the multiple reflection of the light source from the real and imaginary surfaces of the mirror, it seemed as if the candle was falling into a tunnel without end or edge. All this can be easily explained in terms of quantum physics.

Infinity mirrors are a wonderful decorative item that can become the main accent in the interior. Most often they are used when decorating commercial premises: nightclubs and bars, cafes, exhibition halls, offices. However, you can decorate your apartment with such an art object. It will look appropriate in a bathroom or hallway made in Gothic or industrial style, with elements of minimalism, pop art or techno.

A mirror with infinite depth can be used not only for its intended purpose, but also as a wall structure with lighting, but also as an element of other furniture. It will become an original tabletop for coffee table, the face of a cubic design, floor decoration and more. This could be full ceiling chandelier or an additional light source.

How to make it yourself

It is not possible to order an LED art object everywhere, but this is not necessary, because making a mirror with an infinity effect with your own hands is not so difficult. All that is needed is to purchase materials, build a frame and assemble the structure according to already ready-made instructions and diagrams. At the final stage, the LED strip is glued - and the eye-catching installation is ready.

Required materials and tools

To create the effect of an infinity mirror, you need to prepare materials and tools, namely:

  1. Two types of mirrors. The first is ordinary, with one-way reflection. The second is glass with partial mirror effect(plexiglass will also work). They must be the same size.
  2. Light source. LEDs are the most economical in terms of energy consumption, so it is advisable to stock up on self-adhesive tape.
  3. A collapsible frame frame for a mirror structure, holding the mirrors at a distance of about 2 cm from each other. If nothing suitable is found, you need to prepare several wooden blocks and silicone sealant for gluing them.
  4. Sun protection mirror window film. It will create the desired glass tinting effect.
  5. Tools: scissors, cutter, glue gun, hammer drill or drill.

You will most likely have to make a mirror surface with a partial reflective effect yourself. To do this, you need to cover regular glass with sun-protective reflective window film, having previously cleaned and degreased it. It will be necessary to cut a piece of material so that its area is slightly larger than the glass surface (extends beyond it on all sides).

To apply the film to the glass, you should start from one corner, gradually lubricating the surface liquid soap. It must be constantly ironed to avoid the formation of air bubbles.

There are a number of specific requirements for the light source. Firstly, it should not generate heat. Secondly, be bright enough and not get lost behind the mirror film. Ideal option will become an RGB LED strip. The operating voltage rating should be 24 volts. This is the most optimal solution.

Frame making

Any frame can become wooden frame appropriate size with a depth of at least 1.3-1.5 cm. You can also make the design yourself. To do this you will need 4 pieces of wood 2 cm wide. Next you need to follow simple instructions:

  1. The bars are glued directly to the mirror using pre-prepared silicone sealant.
  2. The made rack frame also needs to be prepared for the output of the wires supplying the light source. To do this, small holes are drilled in it using a drill.
  3. The slats are glued in stages, one after another, and aligned along the edges of the mirror surface.

If a finished frame is taken as a basis, then tinted glass and an additional smaller internal frame are inserted into it, which will serve as a stop for the inserted mirror. Recesses are made in it for the wire for the LEDs using a cutter (from the back side).

Assembly

To assemble a structure with infinite mirrors, everything should already be ready. Remains only:

  1. Glue the frame slats to the mirror on its reflective side.
  2. Attach the RGB LED strip from the inside. To do this, simply pull the power cord through the pre-drilled holes.
  3. Cut the mirror film to the width of the frame.
  4. Apply adhesive or the same silicone sealant along the edge frame structure and put glass with a mirror film on top (reflective surface inward).

After this, you need to decide how to make the ends invisible. They can simply be painted over or covered with a U-shaped profile, which can be secured with sealant. As an alternative, a plastic cable duct (without cover) can be used.

Connecting LED strip

A traditional infinity mirror effect lamp is positioned LED strip along the perimeter of the frame, but it can be played out in a slightly different way. With the help of LEDs you can not only depict some geometric figures, but also whole words. To do this, an additional structure of slats is glued to the mirror along with the frame.

If you purchased self-adhesive tape, securing it will not be difficult. If it does not stick, then it is fixed along the inner perimeter of the frame using a regular adhesive composition. When it comes to connecting LEDs, there are always two options. If color effects are needed, the light bulbs are connected via controllers. If you connect an RGB lamp directly to the power supply, it will glow white.

An infinity mirror is a newfangled home decoration that is very popular due to its unusual appearance. The illusion of infinite depth, which is its “trick,” is deceptive, because the thickness of the product is only a few centimeters. How to make an infinity mirror with your own hands and is it really that difficult?

Design features with infinity effect

Such mirrors have been successfully used in the form of stylish tabletops, wall panels, and ceiling lamps. Their feature is transparent glass on one side and a mirror surface on the other. The product is called the Gesel mirror or “Spy mirror” and is quite rarely found in stores, and if sold, it is at a steep price. Fortunately for those who want to decorate their home with it, the design is not complicated, and doing it yourself is quite possible.

How to make an infinity mirror with your own hands?

All that is needed to implement the plan is the acquisition of simple materials, a little patience and perseverance. The mirror can be any size and shape of your choice and can also have different shapes inside.

What materials will be needed?

To make it, you can take either a translucent mirror, the device with which can be turned off and used as a classic product, or mirrored on one side and transparent on the other. In general, the list of materials looks like this:

  • ordinary mirror;
  • sheet of window glass;
  • polystyrene foam and a knife for cutting it;
  • putty and spatula;
  • mirror film;
  • sandpaper;
  • LED garland;
  • glass cutter, marker, suction cup and jigsaw.

The thickness of the glass is preferably at least 4 cm, since in this case its strength will not be in doubt. To avoid dust and save energy, you can purchase it with pre-treated edges.

Step-by-step assembly instructions

The chosen design is a round infinity mirror, but any other shape is made according to the same principle. So, you will need:

  • Draw a regular circle of the desired size on the glass with a marker, then use a glass cutter to make slits along its contour. Next, you need to lightly and carefully tap under the grooves until cracks appear, then put the material on a towel and break off excess pieces.

IMPORTANT. On initial stage you need to be as collected and attentive as possible, since glass is fragile and the shape of the circle can be broken. As a result, the diameter of the future mirror will significantly decrease, and the amount of time spent will increase.

ADVICE. During the process of gluing the mirror film, air bubbles may form underneath it. To avoid this, you need to smooth it out from the center to the edges with a bank card or something like that.

The final stage is assembling all components into a single structure and connecting the LED strip. In order to be able to hang a mirror on the wall, hardware store special fasteners are purchased. Before you stick them on, back wall wiped with solvent.

Deciding on the light source

LED Strip Light - best option, since after assembly the entire structure is sealed and the light source should not emit heat. Preference should be given to RGB, which will allow you to create incredible optical effects. Products with a voltage of 24 V have maximum brightness, and it is also easier for them to shine through mirror film. In order not to waste time and nerves on manipulating the LED strip, you can purchase already ready-made option, equipped with a controller, in the store. Thus, the process is simple and does not require special skills and experience - just spend a little time and effort. As a result, you will receive a stylish mirror with an infinity effect that will decorate your home and will delight guests with its unusual appearance.

This article was found on one of the popular blogs, and in order not to violate the integrity, the author’s text is further preserved: wandering through the expanses of Youtube, I came across a fascinating video demonstrating the operation of this simple device. The first impression of viewing was so strong that my hands themselves began to search Google for online stores where they could find out the price and purchase it. The price was not too steep, but there was no interest in buying a ready-made device. After thinking about the device for about 15 minutes, it was decided to assemble it with my own hands...

Search for materials

Ideally, we will need a mirror, mirrored on one side and transparent on the other. Or translucent, because By turning off the device, we have the opportunity to use it as a regular mirror.

Looking ahead, I’ll say that I chose mirror film from a hardware store.

So we have:

Regular mirror
- Mirror film
- Expanded polystyrene for the body
- Sheet of glass (window)
- Two sheets of sandpaper
- Spatula and putty
- Knife for cutting polystyrene
- Chinese blue garland with 100 LEDs
- Jigsaw
- Glass cutter
- Sucker

Assembly

Cut out a circle from glass. This is done as follows:

We use a glass cutter in a circle, and then from the circle, radially, we cut slots from the circle to the edges. Then we tap all the lines from below with a glass cutter until light cracks appear under the lines. Then we put a towel under the circle and break off the excess with our hands. However, the first time it turned out crooked in one place, I had to redo it. The diameter of the glass decreased from 40 to 35 cm.

It turns out something like this:

We cut the blank for the mirror. Important: cut only from the glass side, never on the silver side.

So now we cut out the body. We take polystyrene, I cut a square out of it and marked the future ring on it.

Then, using a jigsaw and knife, we cut out the ring and mark the first holes for the diodes with a marker. Yes, by the way, the ring (its inner part) is made 1 cm smaller than the mirror, so that the allowance everywhere is 5 mm at the edges. There will be something to glue on in the future.

We make holes for the diodes (I melted them with a soldering iron).

We make another ring, apply the film to the glass

Sometimes you really want to pamper your family and friends with some a beautiful thing made with your own hands. "Infinity Mirror" is perfect would be better suited for this purpose. If you really want, you can get not only a beautiful, but even a stylish and, if desired, multifunctional thing.

DIY infinity mirror

All you need for this is a minimum of parts and good perseverance, and some materials.

  1. Mirror
  2. Translucent mirror (spy mirror, Gesel mirror)
  3. Aluminum or plastic profiles
  4. power unit
  5. Controller for LED strip
  6. Metal or wooden frame(baguette)
  7. Double-sided tape
  8. Masking tape
  9. Old newspapers
  10. Spray can of black paint

Most people have gone through “Christmas fortune-telling”, and quite often there was a fortune-telling when it was necessary to make a tunnel from two mirrors in which a candle flame would be reflected and then read the challenge to the “betrothed” and sit and wait for him to look out from this corridor. This is the corridor you and I will need to build.

First of all, you need to think about the shape and size.

Shapes with straight lines it will be easier to make (including the frame).

Ask a “familiar” glazier (if you are not confident in your abilities) to cut a mirror and a translucent mirror to the required dimensions.

The better the reflection of the mirror and the spy mirror, and the better the transparency of the spy mirror, the better. If it is not possible to find a translucent mirror, then you can take regular glass and film for tinting car windows (the preferred option) or, at worst, reflective film in hardware stores.

Next you will need a profile. If you want strict and clear lines, then an aluminum profile is perfect for this purpose.

If you want to experiment with shapes, then you can stop your gaze at the cable channel for wires. Its advantage is that it is: more affordable, if desired, you can make almost any shape from it, you can immediately hide wires in it, it has very precise dimensions in width and depth (you will get parallel mirrors), it is easy to process.

Can be used wooden slats, but they must be of very precise dimensions along the entire length and preferably use “dead” wood that will not respond to changes in temperature and humidity.

Glass preparation.Wash the glass thoroughly first, wipe it dry so that no streaks are visible, then take a weak soap solution, wet the glass with it, tear it off protective covering film and a special felt “spatula”, trying not to scratch the film, remove air bubbles between the glass and the film. The outside of the film can also be moistened with soapy water. When all the bubbles are “kicked out”, let the product dry for about a day. Then thoroughly rinse the soap solution from the surface of the film and wipe dry, being careful not to leave any streaks.

Making an “infinity mirror”

Let's get started. All work is done on a mirror. Once you have decided on the shapes and sizes, do the following:

Note: instead of an LED strip, you can use stenciled glass and objects, such as in the picture below.

What do you need to know?

Each reflection is at least twice as weak as the previous one. This means that the brighter the light source, the deeper the tunnel.

The closer the mirrors are to each other, the denser the tunnel glows, but it becomes shorter.
The fewer reflective surfaces there are inside the mirrors, the more, when turned off, this device resembles a regular mirror or a dark mirror (depending on which translucent glass you choose: one-way or two-way.

The brighter the light source, the more reflections we get, the deeper the tunnel.
To let your imagination fly, just write the query “Infinity mirror” in Yandex or Google search engines in “Pictures”. And you will understand that your creation can be unique if you just want it.
