How to get a wooden pole out of concrete. How to pull out concrete posts with a winch. Stump removal process

Before screwing the piles for the new house, Alexander Turkovsky had to dismantle the old building. The most difficult thing was to remove the concrete columns of the old foundation. Rescued car winch.

Manually pull concrete blocks columnar foundation turned out to be almost impossible. We decided to use a car winch, but for this we had to think about how to grab the column itself, and also what to grab onto with a winch. I wrapped the posts with a steel chain that I once bought for rigging. The loop was closed with a carabiner. But the idea of what to catch on with the winch did not come right away.

Give me a foothold

I used the technique recommended for hauling a car in an open field with no support. It is as follows. The shovel is driven all the way into the ground. Due to the large area of the bayonet, the shovel in this situation plays the role of a kind of anchor. To further strengthen the position of the shovel, the top of the handle is tied with a rope to another support (for example, to the base of a smaller shovel), and if the ground is weak, then the top of the handle of the second shovel is tied to the next shovel. Thus, there is a fairly reliable support for the winch.

Iron "hand"

The first column got out of the ground well, but the second one had to be tricky. I stuck a shovel right behind concrete path, which turned out to be a good stop, but due to the too high location of the cable hook, the shovel handle broke. I had to make a shovel with a handle made of steel pipe. It turned out to be a heavy but durable tool, not suitable for digging the earth, but successfully helping to pull out the posts.

Additional tool

Sometimes it turned out that the line of ropes did not coincide with the direction of the chain, then the shovel began to fall to the side. Since the lateral force is relatively small, it is easy to compensate for it with a simple support.

I must say that it is difficult or even impossible to do without an additional tool. With a sledgehammer, I hammered shovels into the ground. I used a narrow shovel and a garden scoop to remove the soil around the post, and with an ax with a pipe welded to it, I used a concrete block.

Can work alone

Of course, it is more convenient to pull out the blocks together, but it turned out to work with a winch and a wag alone. I pulled the winch cable all the way, and then helped to move the block with a wagon. Then the cycle was repeated until the moment when the column crawled out of the ground to such an extent that the winch traction was enough.

I must say that I do not use a car winch in normal mode. Usually the cable is doubled to make a chain hoist, but I refused this to increase the length of the cable. As practice has shown, the effort of the winch in this mode is quite enough.

Last summer, at the dacha, my son and I needed to pull out of the ground a pole hammered into it by 1.5 m in the form of a steel pipe with a diameter of 120 mm. There were no tools at hand, and I did not want to dig out a pipe in a drizzling rain. And then I came up with the idea of how to do it.

A long crowbar was applied vertically to the pipe, the lower end of which was at a small distance from the ground, the pipe and crowbar were tightly wrapped two or three times with a rope automobile rope moistened with water, and placed to pipe emphasis in the form of a small stump of a log (Fig. 1).

Then the son turned scrap for its upper end perpendicular to the column. The rope ring strongly compressed the post and the crowbar, which, having reached the stop, became a lever (Fig. 2). With the help of his son, he pulled the pole a short distance out of the ground. After that, the crowbar was returned to its original position and lowered down the pole together with the rope ring to a distance equal to the height to which the pole was pulled out, and the operation was repeated.

Thus, for several times, the pillar was removed from the ground without the use of any special mechanisms or digging it out.

If the post sits very strongly in the ground, it is better to use two crowbars (or other levers) that need to be attached to the post from different sides and wrapped with one common rope. In this case, two stops are used, and the crowbars (levers) are turned in opposite directions by two workers (Fig. 3).

  • Summer shower, undoubtedly, contributes to a pleasant and comfortable pastime in the country. Such a shower is used mainly during the summer holiday season. After all, the shower itself is not insulated and the water cannot be

This is a great way to remove a post along with concrete base without much effort. This method can be quite suitable not only for wooden, but also for steel poles. To save your strength and create a powerful pulling force, a car jack will be used.

We pull out the pole along with the concrete base

We cut down the pole, leaving it about a meter high. Of course, it is not necessary to do this, but in the future it will be more convenient to work with the part that will be taken out of the ground.

From the sawn part of the cut off the bar and drill two holes in it.

Clamp temporarily attach the bar to the post.

Through the same holes we will continue to drill the pillar itself. Of course, everything can be drilled at a time, but it may not be very convenient.

Next, we hammer in wood studs, or long bolts.

From a thick board we prepare the base for supporting the jacks. The support must rest on free ground, at some distance from the concrete base.

We put the beam. It must be reliable and withstand significant forces without strong deflection.

We put the jack and rest it on the screwed bar.

As the post leaves the ground, we put the bars, since the jack stroke at a time is not enough.

We reduce the jack, repeat the procedure.

You can see how the pole comes out. Next, we put more bars.

As soon as more than half of the concrete base has come out of the ground, the pillar can be tipped to the side.

That's all. It didn't take much time or effort.

After the post, there was one fairly equal groove, which, by the way, can be reused.

A simple method for uprooting fence posts without extra effort I personally liked it very much.
As for steel structures, then the steps are the same, except that welding can be used instead of drilling and bolting.
As you can see in this example, the concrete base has the form of a cone, which greatly facilitated the task. If the base is made as a step with an increase towards the bottom, then this method is also quite suitable. Except that in this case the pole will have to be pulled out to the very end.

Everyone has their own fashion and hobbies, and therefore it is sometimes very nice to find like-minded people, evaluate their stamp collection or skill in a particular game. Here are collected various videos that are dedicated to a particular hobby. Whether you love chess, tennis, or collecting wild, unbridled animals under your roof, here you will be able to find nice video- content to your liking.

Now it is very popular both on the net and in reality one hobby available for the most part only to the female sex - Make-up on camera. It will seem to ordinary viewers that in these videos the girls simply put on makeup and inflate an elephant out of a fly. In addition to make-up, many girls simply love shopping, and therefore they often upload their trips to the local shopping mall, where they buy clothes and begin to examine and measure them. Such girls often collect a whole collection of various outfits at home, and some could even open their own store and sell clothes for several years - they have so many purchased outfits. And all their vast collection gets into the camera lens. To be honest, it’s not clear to me why many girls watch this, but such content has customers and it’s a little strange.

However, not only girls love fashion and style and have distinguished themselves with their hobbies, men also have many different hobbies that can amaze you to the core. Some people collect napkins from stores, some people like to play sports games (which is crazy in itself), but there are also those who spend all day molesting women and collecting their kisses. At the same time, they prefer to record their adventures on a video camera, and then put the videos on public display and make themselves great machos.

Hello to all DIYers, as well as summer residents!

Recently, when the snow melted and the ground began to dry out, I ran into one small problem. It consisted in the fact that at the very exit from the garden, next to the gate, a small tubercle crawled out of the ground. Moreover, the farther, the higher it became and gradually began to interfere with the passage, and even later, the lower edge of the gate began to cling to it when opening.

When I dug this mound with a shovel, it turned out that it was a wooden stump, or rather, the base of an old wooden post, apparently preserved from the time of the old wooden fence. Moreover, over the past few years, this stump has not shown any signs of life, and this spring, for some reason, it began to actively crawl out of the ground.

Here's what the stump looks like.

Naturally, there was nothing left to do but uproot this stump.

Moreover, I decided to do this, which is called "little blood" and did not dig a large hole around the stump, but simply knocked on it with a sledgehammer, loosening it from side to side.

And then, I tried to pull this stump out with a crowbar.

However, it was not there. It turned out that the stump sits quite firmly in the ground. But most importantly, it seemed to me that when pulling out with a crowbar, when the crowbar picks up a stump from only one side, it warps, which actually makes it very difficult to pull it out. Moreover, this stump is quite long and sits deep enough, at least 60-70 cm.

As a result, it became obvious that in order to uproot this stump with a crowbar, you need to dig a deeper hole around it (30-40 centimeters deep). However, I really didn’t want to do this, because the ground around the stump is very heavily rammed, and besides, there is a lot of stones and fragments of bricks that fell asleep and rammed when installing a wooden pole.

And then another idea came to me. It seemed to me that if you make some powerful metal hook and hammer it into this stump, then applying a vertical force with a crowbar exactly in the center of the stump, it can be pulled out quite easily.

As a result, I rummaged through the old pieces of iron and found just such an ancient door handle. Moreover, this handle is very old, possibly from the 19th century, since it is forged and quite durable.

Materials and tools for making a simple fixture

That's it, I decided to use it to pull out the stump, especially since this handle just fits the diameter of the stump.

In addition to the pen, I needed the following tools and materials:

  • Two long wood screws.
  • Cordless screwdriver.
  • Screwdriver bit PH2, for driving screws into stumps.

Stump removal process

So, I put the door handle on top of the end of the stump and screwed it with two screws.

I must say that the wood of the stump, outside and to a depth of several centimeters, is rotten, but inside, it is still quite strong. Therefore, it is imperative to use long screws. In addition, in order for the screws to withstand a large force, their diameter must be at least 4.5-5 mm.

After that, I tugged at the handle, finding out that it was holding quite firmly.

Well, now, it remains only to carefully pry the stump with a crowbar by the handle and pull it out.

And indeed, I began to slowly pull out the stump with a crowbar, making an effort exactly in the center of the stump.

As the stump pulled out, I placed bricks under the other end of the crowbar. Well, in the last stages, I finally pulled the stump out of the pit with my hand.

That's all! This is what the pulled out stump looks like.

And it took me to pull out the stump in this way, literally half a minute.

Moreover, I did not immediately remove the handle from the stump, but just holding it by the handle, I took it to the fire, which turned out to be very convenient.

And already at the stake, he unscrewed the handle.

like this in a simple way, with the help of a simple device made in haste, I managed to quickly and easily uproot a wooden stump from a pole and at the same time save a lot of time and effort.

Well, that's all for me! All for now and more simple and effective solutions in chores that save time and energy!
