Make a toy box with your own hands. Original storage of toys: types, ideas, practical tips. Step-by-step manufacturing instructions

During games, children often scatter toys not only in their room, but throughout the apartment. Because of this, cleaning the house turns into a daily marathon, in which both mother and kids participate. Practice shows that you can restore order faster if you use special boxes for storing toys. Making them yourself is quite simple, and you can use them for a very long time.

Required tools and materials

Making a toy box is easy. Material costs for its production are minimal or non-existent. The dimensions of the product are chosen taking into account the height of the shelves, the width and depth of the niches in the nursery. The base of the box can be made of lining, plywood, wooden slats, cardboard, wicker.

Let's look at an example of making a small box from slats. Tools you will need for work:

  • drill-driver;
  • wood screws;
  • metal tape measure;
  • ruler with square;
  • hand saw;
  • pencil;
  • scissors;
  • brush for varnish (paint, glue);
  • a set of sanding sponges or paper.

All necessary materials can be purchased at hardware store. The list includes:

  • wooden slats or clapboards;
  • wooden block for making stiffeners;
  • paint, furniture varnish (or paper and PVA glue, depending on the chosen product design).

Step-by-step manufacturing instructions

The box can be made in 1–1.5 hours. The work includes the following steps:

  1. The prepared area is covered with film or other protective material so as not to damage the floor.
  2. A product design with dimensions is drawn on graph paper. It is advisable to draw an axonometric projection.
  3. Boards and beams are cut and parts of the required length are cut with a hacksaw.
  4. The corners of the parts are sanded with an emery sponge or paper.
  5. The bottom is made from timber and slats: two stiffening ribs are placed and the strips are screwed in with self-tapping screws, leaving no gaps between the elements. The bottom can also be made of plywood, a piece of fiberboard or chipboard.

  6. Assembled from planks and bars side walls(on self-tapping screws) and connect them in series.
  7. The finished container is varnished and painted oil paint, apply drawings according to a template or painting. The toy box is ready.

It is better to sand the boards and bars before assembling the box, because... ready product difficult to polish. And the burrs remaining in hard to reach places container, can injure children's skin.

Decor ideas

A homemade container for toys is often made in the form of a chest. In this case, children can not only put toys in it, but also use it as a stool. The side walls and lid of such a box can be covered with fabric with a pattern. And so that the lid does not get lost, it is attached to fabric hinges. For ease of use, a loop is sewn to the lid.

If you make the box large and put foam rubber under the lid upholstery, you will get something like a sofa. The photo shows a beautiful chest made of aged boards with a lid upholstered in patterned chintz.

It is not necessary to constantly run from the found toy to the box. Cleaning will be faster if the container is equipped with wheels. Its movement will also be facilitated by flexible handles made of thick rope, which are secured by passing through cracks or drilled holes.

Instead of a wooden box, you can use a large cardboard box to store toys. To decorate it, it is covered with bright paper or wallpaper with a beautiful pattern. Decoupage made from gift foil on polymer film also looks beautiful.

Small cardboard boxes of the same size can be covered with fabric and placed on a shelf. For convenience, strong handles are sewn to the side walls.

If parents master the art of weaving from wicker and paper tubes, it will not be difficult for them to make original basket boxes. Such containers are very convenient: dust does not accumulate in them, and small debris that falls through the weaving can simply be removed with a vacuum cleaner.

For a box with toys, you can knit an original cover or sew pockets for small items onto its surface.
