Installing interior doors yourself: step-by-step instructions. Installation of interior doors, basic rules Is it possible to install interior doors yourself

We will tell you how to properly install an interior door. You will learn about the intricacies of choosing components and what nuances can be used to understand the professionalism of the master. Interior doors must remain in their original packaging for at least 5 days in the room in which they will be installed.

Preparing boards for the door frame

First, let's check the height and width of the opening and make sure that the doors with the frame will easily fit into them.

Using a laser level, we will estimate the difference in floor height on each side doorway. In our case, it was 2 mm, and we need to take this distance into account when making the door frame. Let's say a few words about the master's tool:

For a quality installation, we can’t get by with just a hammer and a chisel. We will need a circular saw With turntable. Now, with its help, we will trim the door frame blanks. It would be very difficult to cut a beautifully veneered piece with a regular hacksaw. Let's start marking the door frame. Using a sharp knife, mark the places where the top part will be trimmed.

The plate allows you to immediately take into account the gap of the door in the frame. Usually it is 2-3 mm. A true master should have the following device in his arsenal that allows him to hold the door in a vertical position:

We mark the places for the hinges. Usually this is 20-25 cm from the edge.

Place one of the door frame boards on the door and install the bottom gap. Usually it is 8-10 mm. Usually, interior doors assembled without thresholds. Using a sharp knife, make notches for the hinges on the door frame board. Mark the top edge of the board. We lay the left and right boards of the door frame together, setting a slight shift of a few millimeters to compensate for the difference in floor height marked by the level.

In places where the door frame boards will be subsequently trimmed, we need to carefully remove the wrapped veneer with a chisel. If this is not done, then when cutting on the machine the board will be skewed and we will not be able to make a perfect cut at 45°. We install the board on the saw machine, and turn the saw itself for sawing at 45°.

The veneered board fits tightly to the machine at the back. We carefully cut at 45°. Three parts of the door frame are ready:

We mark the loops. This process has one feature - the loop is installed with the logo facing up.

It is better to mark the hinges on the door frame board with a sharp knife. If you are not confident, do it with a pencil, but remember that it has a certain thickness, which may cause an error. When using a knife, the notches are made at an angle towards the future sample. This will allow you to install the hinges tightly and beautifully in the future.

Another necessary tool for a craftsman is a manual milling machine. We set the width of the sample according to the width of the loop. The sampling depth is adjusted according to the thickness of the loop. Using a manual milling machine, work on making a sample in the door frame board is completed in a minute.

A correctly adjusted cutter will not remove anything unnecessary:

While working, the master must pay attention to his extreme notches and not go beyond them. The same work done with a chisel and hammer will not always be accurate, and it will also take more time.

Since the hinges have rectangular edges, we must use a chisel to remove the roundness at the corners. To do this, we will make two or three notches in the corners. This way we are guaranteed to remove the excess and not touch the wood behind the sample. This work must be done carefully and slowly. It depends on how beautiful the hinges in the door frame will look.

An important point is that the loop must enter the sample with force. It is recommended that before screwing the hinge, drill holes that are smaller in diameter than the screws. To avoid drilling into the floor, place a stop under the door frame board.

We also drill holes for the second hinge.

Door frame installation

Now we need to make holes for the screws with which we will fasten door frame from the hinge side.

There is a rule here: the holes are made in the middle of the longitudinal and transverse axis, that is, for the top loop they should be made a little lower, and for the bottom loop a little higher. This way we achieve uniform fastening of the frame to the doorway. The recess should be deep enough so that the screw does not interfere with the installation of the hinges.

Let's make hidden holes in the places where we will attach the elements of the door frame to each other. Depending on the thickness of the box block, we will make a recess either higher or lower.

The main rule is that the blind is performed at an angle of 90° relative to the cut. In the upper element of the door frame we make a hidden hole in the center. Thus, the door frame will be fastened on each side in three places.

We screw the wood screws into the elements of the box. Here it is important to accurately align the parts and prevent their mutual displacement. If everything is done correctly, we will get the perfect angle. On the other side, let's perform the same operations.

Install the assembled box in doorway, and to prevent the box from falling, we will place several pieces of cardboard. Let's install a laser level and check the verticality of the door frame on the hinge side.

Now we will need wedges with which we will adjust the door gap and set the frame level. They can be made from scraps of box timber using a circular saw. First of all, we need to install wedges in the places where we will attach the door frame to the walls.

Additionally, we hammer one wedge into each of the upper corners of the box. Laser level check the verticality of the installation. If necessary, we knock out or change the wedges.

The door frame should be aligned flush with external wall rooms. We fasten the box through the secretion made in the hinges.

Be sure to install wedges in the places where we attach the box. They should stay there forever. The door frame on the hinge side is fixed in two places and has three wedges. But the pretend side of the box has only one wedge on top. We will display it after hanging the door. Don't forget to use a level to check that the box is installed horizontally. Since we took into account the unevenness of the floor when cutting the frame bars, our level now shows the horizon.

While we are working on the door leaf, the pre-installed door frame must be partially foamed.

It takes some time for the foam to set a little before we hang the doors. First, the foam is applied in small portions from inside the room. The front part of the door frame is partially foamed using a line method. This is necessary so that we have the opportunity to move the hinged part of the door frame, aligning it with the door leaf. You shouldn’t put too much foam.

Installation of door hardware

Now the door is placed again on a special stand. We will install door hardware.

And again we mark the loops, but already on door leaf. We make marks with a sharp knife at an angle relative to the loops. Using a milling machine, we make cuts on the door leaf for hinges.

Using a chisel we also level the corners. We get an ideal selection for hinges in the door leaf. It is ideal because our loop is inserted inside with force, which means that there will be no gaps.

Let's look at how to properly drill holes for screws.

Drilling begins at an angle, resting on the edge of the loop, then the drill is set vertically, and we drill exactly in the center. This simple technique allows you to easily drill holes in the center of the hinges. We apply markings for installing the door latch. Usually it falls in the middle of the door.

When drilling a hole for the latch, be careful not to damage the excess veneer. To do this, set the rotation of the drill counterclockwise and apply a central marking with a drill. This way the drill will not jump off and tear the adjacent veneer. Then set the drill to normal drilling mode and drill the required hole. The drilling depth can be adjusted using a special marker that you apply to the drill. The marker in this case is ordinary electrical tape.

The hole is ready, and we insert the latch into it.

Please note that the diameter of the hole must exceed the internal thickness of the latch. Let's make marks using a knife.

And again we will use a milling machine, then use a wide chisel to make a selection of corners.

As usual, we'll make a few notches and then clean up the corners. Now insert the latch and fasten it with screws.

Installation of door leaf

Our foam has partially set. Now it will provide us with an elastic state of the box. Place a stop under the door and tighten the top hinge.

A lever may be required to get the bottom hinge to fit well. Don't forget to put a stop under it.

When the loop fits exactly into the groove, you can fasten it with two screws. While suspended, the vertical installation of the doors is checked.

Let's check the operation of the door frame seal. If it squeaks, coat it with a small amount of VD-40. We move on to aligning the front side of the door frame. When the door is hung, we can evaluate how perfect the door leaf is. And right now we have the opportunity to align the front part of the frame with the door. As in the previous case, we level this part of the box using wedges.

Slightly hardened polyurethane foam allows you to smoothly move the cover part of the box in one direction or another. Having finished the alignment, mark the center of the latch on the counter block of the box. When choosing door latches, give preference to those that have a protrusion on the mating part. With its help, you can regulate the closing force of the doors.

Having made the mark, we use the milling machine again.

This time we are making a recess for the door latch.

If necessary, rounded edges can be adjusted using a chisel. We drill out the fastening points of the mating part of the latch and fasten it with screws.

Now let's drill a hole in this cavity for the third mounting screw. Regardless of whether an anchor bolt or a self-tapping screw is used, it will be hidden inside this cavity. It is also necessary to install an additional wedge in this place.

Let's tighten the self-tapping screw, which will secure the front part of the box through the drywall to the inner beam of the load-bearing wall.

Installation of door handles

Now you can collect door handles. Use a hexagon to tighten the internal pin on one of the handles.

After inserting the handle, secure it with three self-tapping screws.

Let's insert the handle on the other side and do the same. Let's check the operation of the handle.

To complete the assembly of the handle, fix the second handle using a hexagon. Put on decorative caps on each side.

Now is the time to apply foam between the wall and the door frame on the outside of the door. Don't forget to screw the remaining screws into the door hinges.

Installation of accessories

Foam with inside the door has already dried, this will allow us to move on to the next stage of door installation.

We need to install extensions on the inside of the room.

We determine the distance by choosing the most protruding part of the wall. Having taken measurements from above and below, we will choose the largest one. If there is a rounding in the inner groove of the box, it must be carefully cut off with a knife. This will allow you to place the extension in this groove quite tightly without gaps.

We perform this operation on the other side as well. If the foam sticks out, it needs to be cut off slightly.

Now we will really need a circular saw with a top table. By setting the emphasis to the specified width, we cut the extension boards perfectly. Trim the bottom edge of the extension.

We place the extension board, resting it on the upper groove of the door frame.

Let's do the same on the other side. And again we cut the boards to the final dimensions.

Clean the groove of the door frame into which we will insert the extensions from foam using a small piece of board. Let's do this around the entire perimeter of the door frame.

Let's install the extension boards into the vacated groove. To fix the extension, you need to wedge it in the upper corners of the door frame.

Using a level or a straight board, you need to ensure that the extension is either flush with the wall, or, if the wall is uneven, protrudes slightly.

The extension will hold perfectly if it is fixed with polyurethane foam. In this case, there is no need to make holes and attach it to the wall with screws. Once the foam has expanded and hardened, it can be cut flush with the wall.

So, we installed the extensions and foamed them to fix them polyurethane foam. If you do everything using this technology, the door can be used in 20 minutes. All we have to do is wait for the foam to completely harden, cut it, plaster and level the sections of the wall adjacent to the door, hang wallpaper or paint the walls, and only then nail the casing. When plastering a doorway, do not allow wet plaster to come into contact with the door frame. Use masking tape here and remove the plaster immediately. To make the door fit more tightly, bend the protrusion on the mating part of the latch.

Replacing interior doors is not as labor-intensive and complicated a process as it seems. You can fill a double or single opening yourself without the help of a specialist. Of course, you won’t save time, but you will save money and acquire new skills when renovating an apartment or house.

How to install an interior door: in this article we will tell you how to choose a good door leaf, what the block for filling the opening is made of and how to install it.

Opening measurement

Making a mistake at the stage of measuring the doorway is unacceptable: if you purchase a system of large dimensions, you will not be able to insert it, and if you purchase a smaller one, you will not be able to fix it well.

It is better to measure the doorway after dismantling the old door, when access to the bare wall has appeared. This way you can assess the situation and make the right measurements. Removing them is simple: take a tape measure and determine the height and width of the entrance along the wall in the narrowest place (relevant for buildings where the vertical structure of the structures is poorly maintained). With this data, go to the store for a new door.

Manufacture of the product according to custom sizes not required: in houses with apartments, builders initially lay out standard openings, and fillings for them are always available for open sale.

Interior doors in private wooden house may differ from the standard ones, then you will have to order new ones and wait for their production.

Door selection

The first thing you should pay attention to when choosing canvas and boxes is the material they are made of.

The ideal option is to purchase a box and canvas made of the same material. You should not give preference to wood fiber board; doors made from it are short-lived; they are installed on construction sites so that new owners can replace them with permanent ones made of more durable materials. Ideally, it is worth acquiring a solid solid material as a door filling; to reduce the cost, the canvas can be replaced with MDF, which is also a durable raw material for the manufacture of cheaper door frames.

Additional strips and trims can be made of fiberboard, wood or MDF. They do not carry a load, they only decorate gaps and disguise connections.

Double doors are often chosen for large rooms and halls, single-leaf blocks are installed in bedrooms and kitchens. In any case, the size of the box and the number of panels are determined by the size of the opening.

Step-by-step instructions for installing from scratch

Installing interior doors with your own hands will not take much time, just stock up the right tool, purchase required material and you can start working. Follow detailed step-by-step instructions and your success is guaranteed.

This plan is valid for installing swing doors; sliding doors are mounted slightly differently, but in a similar way.

Step 1: prepare tools and material

To install an interior door you will need:

  1. Drill or hammer drill;
  2. 3 and 4 mm drills for wood;
  3. Drills 4 and 6 mm for concrete;
  4. Saw;
  5. Screwdriver;
  6. Wood screws;
  7. Level/plumb;
  8. Polyurethane foam;
  9. Roulette;
  10. Pencil.

In addition, a door block must be purchased in advance.

Step 2: determine action tactics

Installation of wooden doors is carried out according to the standard scheme shown in the photo.

  1. Door frame;
  2. Door leaf;
  3. Nail/screw;
  4. Polyurethane foam.

First, we assemble the box, then insert it into the opening and hang the door.

Step 3: assemble the box

There are 2 options for assembling the box under the canvas.

To understand whether the excess parts of the wood have been cut correctly, assemble the box on the floor like a mosaic: everything should fit together perfectly. Then we fix the planks with self-tapping screws on the side of the wall.

For the threshold, you also need to determine the place by attaching the canvas to the box assembled along the top. Step back 2.5 mm from it and make a risk. Attach the bottom bar - the threshold - to this mark.

Step 4: marking for hinges

At the stage of assembling the box, it is worth determining the places where the hinges are attached. To do this, measure 20-25 cm from the top and bottom on the side stand, attach loops and make marks with a knife or pencil. Screw the product with self-tapping screws, thereby determining the future location of the loop, which will facilitate its fastening. Now insert the canvas, measure the gaps to the side edges and make marks on the canvas. In the same way, make several fasteners so as not to lose their location later.

Remove the screws and the hinge; they will need to be fastened after installing the box in the opening.

The box is ready for installation. More detailed process demonstrates the author of the video.

Step 5: Installing the Box

Now it’s time to install the doors yourself, and it starts with installation assembled box. To do this, you need to place the structure on the threshold and align the vertical. For verification, use a plumb line and level. To prevent the box from falling during verification, secure it with spacers or temporary wedges made from scraps of wood.

Now you can check the canvas: will it open or not. To do this, you need to insert it into the installed box, focusing on flat wall. If opening does not occur or is not fully realized, it may be necessary to adjust the spacers and adjust the position of the rack and cross bars.

If you managed to install everything correctly and the canvas fits well into place, you can fasten the box. How to do it:

  1. Wedges are driven in on the sides of the upper cross member, then above where it is attached to the racks;
  2. Drive wedges along the entire height of the opening, constantly checking the evenness of the installation and the absence of displacements in any plane.

Step 6: secure fit

The delivered and verified box must be finally secured so that it can accept the canvas. There are 2 solutions:

  1. Screw the box to the side walls with screws. This is a reliable method; a few wood screws or self-tapping screws are enough to implement it. Choose inconspicuous places for fastening; they mainly use areas under door hinges and under the lock plate. They take a concrete block and make a hole for a screw. Now tighten the fastener so that its head does not remain above the plane of the wood. If this amount of fasteners is not enough, you can drill through holes in other places and also install self-tapping screws, the heads of which are covered with plugs to match the surface.
  2. The second method is to use hidden plates. The peculiarity of the method is that there is no need to drill the frame and wall.

After this, fill the space between the opening and the box with mounting foam to 2/3 of the total thickness. To prevent the structure from being squeezed out, install spacers inside the passage contour while the foam polymerizes.

Step 7: attach the hinges

At correct installation For interior doors, the hinges are attached only before directly hanging the door leaf. Screw the parts for the box to the previously marked places, repeat the steps for the canvas.

Step 8: hanging and cladding

The hardest part is over, now you can hang the canvas and cover the joints with platbands. The master clearly explains in the video how to install an interior door.

As you can see, it is quite possible to replace or install a new interior door yourself, following a clear procedure. The technology is described in detail and shown in the accompanying videos, so understanding the issue will not be difficult.

Each living space has doors. Interior designs serve to divide space into zones. Main function entrance doors consists of protecting the premises from intruders. Sooner or later there comes a time when structures need to be replaced. In some cases, during the repair process it becomes necessary to install new door where she wasn't. In order to save money, many owners decide to carry out the installation themselves. Next, we’ll figure out how to install a door with your own hands.

Manufacturers today offer various door models. Often, almost all parts come separately. The structure will need to be assembled on site. When purchasing a door, you should pay attention to the quality of the seal. Experts recommend choosing the one that is softer. This way the closing will not be accompanied by a dull thud. It is better to purchase fittings in accordance with the color of the door. Store consultants can help with this. As for the latch, preference should be given to the part that has a protrusion on the mating side. With its help, the adjacency of the web is regulated.

Preparation

Before installing doors, they should be kept unpacked in the room for at least five days. In this case, it is necessary that the room has normal humidity and temperature. To carry out the work you will need the following tools: screwdriver, chisel, hammer, circular saw. Be sure to prepare a level, preferably a laser one. It will be used to level the door frame.

Assembly

Let's look at how to install a wooden door. First you need to mark the opening and determine the position of the top bar. Here you should remember the need to leave a gap. The optimal distance between the box and the wall is 2-3 mm. If it is larger, the structure will dangle, and if it is smaller, it will close with force. The box parts will need to be cut to height. In this case, the difference in floor is taken into account. Racks and top bar sawed at 45 degrees from the edges and connected. Self-tapping screws are used as fasteners. During work, you need to ensure that there is no movement in the corners. The box parts must be joined flush. After this, markings are made for the hinges and a selection is made in the side stand.

Box installation

The assembled structure is inserted into the opening. Small planks (wedges) should be placed between the top beam and the ceiling. Then we perform the following steps:

  • From the sides and front we check the vertical position of the structure.
  • We place wedges in the areas where they are fastened to the wall (they must be of the appropriate size).
  • We fix the hinged side of the box.
  • We foam the gap from the inside. The pretend part is processed pointwise - it will need to be leveled later.
  • Finally, use a level to check the horizontality of the top element.

Installation of fittings

Before installing the doors, you should secure the hardware. To do this, the canvas is placed on its edge. It will be more convenient to use a special stand. The areas where the latch and hinges will be located are marked on the surface. The first is located in the center. The loops will be located at a distance of 20-25 cm from the edge of the canvas (top and bottom). On milling machine(manually) the cutter is adjusted to the height (width) of the elements and a selection is made. Next, the corners are leveled using a chisel at 90 degrees. The latch and hinges are secured with screws. You must first make holes for fasteners.

Insert the canvas

Many people do not know how to install a door correctly. To make the process easier, a number of recommendations should be taken into account. You need to start by “hanging” the canvas. A stop is placed under the door. Next you should join the loops. After they are aligned, 2 screws are screwed into each element, no more. Then you need to check the closure of the canvas and the gaps. If there are errors, they are eliminated. Then the pretend side is aligned. It often happens that the canvas has a slight defect. For example, it may be slightly twisted in the plane. In this regard, you should not rush to screw the box on both sides. Otherwise there will be a gap when closing. After closing the door, you should begin leveling the frame.

When installing, you need to make sure that the box does not extend beyond the outer wall of the room. Even if the canvas is crooked, it should not open spontaneously. In other words, the door should not slope. In this case, you should move one side of the box. If the skew is too severe, the door will have to be replaced, since even cash strips will not be able to mask the defect.

Final stage

After completing the alignment, it is necessary to drive a wedge into the latch installation area. To do this, make a notch on the block and then make a cut for the “tongue”. Here a hole is drilled for hidden fastening of the door frame. Next, the mating element of the latch is screwed on. After fixation, if necessary, the adhesive force is adjusted by pressing/releasing the tongue.

Variations

The owners of many apartments choose a sliding door instead of traditional swing doors (how to install it will be discussed below). It must be said that this option allows you to significantly save space. In small apartments ideal solution zoning of the room is precisely the sliding door. How to install such a structure? Let's discuss the main recommendations.

First stage

As is the case with other types of structures, before installing a sliding door, it is necessary to prepare the opening. It is cleaned of dust and dirt, then markings are made. Frame elements will already be installed on it.

Installation of guides

When using the lower element, it should be deepened into the floor, leveled using a level and fixed. Next, the upper guide is installed along the control line. When installing, it is necessary to maintain horizontal position. The upper element is placed at a height equal to the size of the canvas plus 15-20 mm for gaps. You can check the horizontal position using a level. The length of the guide is equal to twice the width of the door leaf with an increase of 4-5 cm. This margin will ensure normal movement of the door. As a rule, the guide is attached using brackets.

Installation of the canvas

How to install the door correctly? First of all, you should attach it to the canvas itself necessary elements. Settings can then be made to adjust the levels. This work is best done with an assistant. It will support the blade while inserting the carriages with rollers into the groove. If a partition door is being installed and the guide is installed from one wall to another, the carriages must be inserted into the groove in advance. For this purpose, the guide has a window. In this case, fixing the canvas will be reduced to joining the holders on it and the anchor, which extends from the carriage.

Limiters and closers

After installing the door leaf, the plugs should be secured. The limiters can be made in the form of studs or a guide profile. It is recommended to purchase plugs with special plastic or rubber stops.

Platbands and additions

Before installation, special brackets must be screwed to the wall. They can also be secured to the guide using latches. In the latter case, the fasteners will not be visible on the outside. Then the restrictive structure is fixed. The canvas will rest against it when closing. As a limiter, you can use a finished beam or a profile, which is purchased along with other accessories. It is installed strictly vertically. The counter part of the locking mechanism (locking element) will be fixed here.

How to install a metal door

To begin with, it should be noted that such structures are used to protect the house from intruders. And quite often, home safety directly depends on the quality of installation. Let's look at how to install the front door.

Main stages of installation

Before installing the doors, you should familiarize yourself with the process diagram. The work can be divided into three stages:

  • Dismantling of the previous structure.
  • Preparing the opening. Before installing the doors, you should check for gaps between the frame and the opening. The surface of the walls must be clean and dry.
  • Direct installation. First, holes for fasteners are drilled in the opening. The door frame is fixed with anchors. The more there are, the better. The anchors must go at least 20 cm into the wall. Fastening is carried out along the entire perimeter of the box.

Progress

The fasteners securing the box should be located as far as possible from the outside of the wall. During the fastening process, it is necessary to use wooden wedges. They should be slightly larger than the gap between the opening and the structure. When installing wedges in the side posts, it is necessary to ensure that the spacing remains constant. If the size of the gaps changes, you will have to re-align. The verticality of the structure is checked using a plumb line. Next, you need to drill holes to insert the anchors. Their diameter is about 15, and their depth is about 200 mm. Anchors are inserted into the holes, which actually secure the box. Next you need to hang the canvas itself. It is recommended to lubricate the hinges first. After installing the canvas, the gaps should be foamed. Before doing this, you need to moisten the surface of the wall with water - for better adhesion. A day after the polyurethane foam has dried, the eyelets should be plastered.

Wanting to install an interior door with their own hands, many overestimate their strength. Without availability the necessary tool and certain skills in working with the material can hopelessly ruin an expensive product. If the decision is made, you must first familiarize yourself with the installation rules and scrupulously follow the recommendations of professionals.

Installing interior doors with your own hands: step-by-step instructions

The process of manually installing doors between rooms begins with performing certain actions. Let us describe step by step the stages of the work being performed:

  1. Remove from hinges old door, then tear off the cash. You can use a hammer and a wide chisel or a small hatchet for this. Using a bent crowbar, you should dismantle the old box.
  2. Then you need to prepare an opening for the door to be installed. If its dimensions are suitable, everything remains as it was. If it is necessary to enlarge the opening, use a hammer drill. The width of the opening must exceed the dimensions of the door leaf by 10 cm, and the height by 5 cm.
  3. To fit the box you need to use a clean and level surface. First, adjust the upper horizontal part. You can calculate its length by adding twice the thickness to the width of the doors. vertical racks boxes and 6 mm as the required gap to ensure free movement of the door leaf. Then you need to adjust the height of the vertical posts. It should be taken into account that for a door without a threshold the length should be increased by 10 mm. Another 3 mm must be left for the top gap.
  1. After this, they begin to cut the loops onto the canvas and the box. To do this, at a distance of 200 mm from the edges of the canvas, you need to hollow out recesses. The insertion of loops begins with their application to the canvas to mark the boundaries of the recesses. The work must be done with a router or chisel. It is advisable to treat the resulting recesses with varnish, otherwise the wood will dry out over time. Then you need to put a loop in the prepared bed and mark the places for attaching the screws. It is best to pre-drill them using a drill bit with a slightly smaller diameter than the thickness of the screw. After this, you can screw the hinges with screws, attaching their halves with a protrusion to the frame, and those with a hole to the door.
  2. Now you can finally assemble the box, connecting its parts at an angle of 45°. You can fasten the box with self-tapping screws.
  3. Carefully lift the box and begin installing it inside the opening. Carefully check the verticality of the product with a level, the perpendicularity of its components and the horizontalness of the bar from above. The gaps formed in the opening should be eliminated using wooden wedges and then polyurethane foam.
  4. After installing the box, it must be secured with dowels.

Here are the steps you need to take. The video “How to install an interior door with your own hands” will help you finally understand all the details:

Installation of sliding interior doors

There are many different options for sliding doors. They differ in material, appearance, other characteristics, although the principle of operation and design remain unchanged. Any such system has a canvas, rollers and guides.

Important: Do-it-yourself installation of sliding interior doors is carried out in different ways, it all depends on the purpose for which it is installed sliding door. It is usually installed to save space, since it frees up the space needed to open the swing door.

Schematically, the installation of the structure is divided into the following stages:

  1. Installation of guides.
  2. Attaching holders and fittings to the door leaf.
  3. Door installation.
  4. Installation of closers and limiters.
  5. Fastening the extensions and platbands.
  6. Final adjustment.

Detailed installation of sliding interior doors with your own hands is shown in the video:

Installation of interior doors with extensions

If the thickness of the existing opening exceeds the width of the box, then to add aesthetics it is necessary to use extensions, attaching them directly to the block. The advantage of such components is the uniformity of all structural elements and quick installation. Before fastening, it is necessary to determine the dimensions of the extensions. To do this, measure the required width of the plank by inserting a box into the opening and measuring the uncovered width of the opening.

Important: Door access Can be cut to size with a circular saw.

To secure the extension, you need to screw the mounting strips on the back side and connect them to the box.

It is enough to use three fasteners on each element. Then you should install the box with the addition into the opening and secure it. After this, you need to go through all the existing cracks with professional foam.

Let's take a closer look at this process:

  • We apply a hinge to the door end, maintaining a distance of 20 cm from the edge.
  • We use an awl to mark the points where we need to make holes for the screws.
  • Interior The hinges are attached to the door, and the outer hinge is attached to the frame.
  • Drill holes according to the marks.
  • We fasten the hinges.

Cash fasteners

Are ending installation work for installing doors between rooms with casing fasteners. This process is not difficult.

Installing interior doors is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. If the master has at least a little experience working with doors, then this is a big plus. The only thing that is better to entrust to a specialist is the insertion of fittings. Incorrectly installed fittings can ruin the entire result of the work.

Stages

Installation of interior doors occurs in several stages:

  1. Box installation.
  2. Installation of canvas.
  3. Installation of additional elements.

Preliminary stage

The technology for installing interior doors is quite simple. However, before starting work, there is one important step that cannot be skipped. This is the door selection stage.

The final result largely depends on how responsibly you approach your choice.

  1. The first thing to do is go around the shops. You shouldn't take the first option you come across. If we are talking about online stores, then you need to carefully check the characteristics of the designs.
  2. The door leaf should fit the frame perfectly in size. All characteristics of the door must be known in advance. You can't do this without measurements.
  3. Sometimes very cheap options appear in stores. After purchase, the owner may discover that the box or accessories are not included. You have to spend time and select the remaining parts. It's not always possible to do it right. So don't look at the ones that are too cheap door designs. IN as a last resort, you must first clarify the presence of certain parts in the kit.

Materials and tools

Materials and tools for installation must be prepared in advance. Tools you will need:

  • wood hacksaw;
  • screwdriver;
  • level.

Materials you need to purchase:

  • polyurethane foam (cylinder);
  • self-tapping screws;
  • wedges

Assembly and installation of the box

Once the door has been purchased, you can get to work. At the first stage, the box is assembled.

Assembling the box is a simple process. The only thing you need to remember is that it is necessary to trim off the frame frames in order to establish a gap between the door leaf and the floor. For ordinary apartments, the gap is set to about 10 mm.

After the gap is established, the racks are connected using self-tapping screws. After assembly, the stage of installing the box into the opening begins.

It is advisable that the opening be pre-treated. To do this, check the verticality of the walls, as well as the height and width of the opening.

The box is installed using a level and wedges. The level checks the position of the structure in the opening. The procedure is as follows:

  1. The box is fixed in the opening with wedges at the top and bottom.
  2. First, the door must be fixed with wedges from below, before checking the position of the structure in two dimensions with a level.
  3. The average gap between the frame and the opening on all sides should be about 10 mm.

The door leaf is hung on hinges. At this time, the box is secured only with spacers and wedges.

You should not foam the door frame before hanging the door leaf. The point is that you still need to make sure that the door in this position will not open on its own.

After the canvas is hung, you can foam the gap between the box and the opening.

It is necessary to ensure that the foam does not get on the surface of the door. The composition of the polyurethane foam can easily damage the surface, so you should work carefully.

Now you need to install the additional element.

  1. The additional strip is measured to fit the distance from the edge of the box to the edge of the wall.
  2. Using a hacksaw, it is cut along the edge.
  3. The additional element is mounted in the groove and foamed. Foaming is done at several points.

Platbands

After the additional element is installed, you need to wait for the foam to dry. When working with polyurethane foam, you must remember about its expansion properties. The substance should always be applied in measured doses.

The next stage after installing the additional strip is the platbands.

  1. To install platbands, you need to determine their size.
  2. After this, the platbands are sawed off using a hacksaw.
  3. Holes for nails are drilled.
  4. The casing is fixed.

If the platband has a “beak”, then it is attached to liquid nails. There is no need to file it down.

Types of interior doors

Today in stores you can find doors from natural wood, glass, plastic, metal and composites. Mixed designs are also found.

Usually the choice is made taking into account the design of the room and this is the right approach. However, it is necessary to consider all the main varieties of these structures in order to know their advantages and weaknesses, as well as the subtleties of care.

  1. Paneled from hard rocks wood Such designs are very durable and prestigious. Moreover, they are very expensive. The most common paneled doors are made of oak and walnut. Designs are made either using glue or without it. The last type is the most durable. Caring for such a door is necessary, as with any natural surfaces. The door must be protected from moisture and high temperatures. It is recommended to wipe them with a napkin. The use of abrasives is prohibited.
  2. Paneled from soft wood. Ideal for country houses and cottages. In ordinary apartments, such doors do not look very appropriate. They are more suitable for country style. Caring for such structures is the same as for hardwood doors.
  3. Paneled combined doors. These structures are made of veneer. They contain little valuable wood. Therefore, such doors are quite inexpensive. Their service life, however, is shorter than that of solid wood structures. However, they can last about 50 years, which is also very good. No special care is required for veneer doors; this is their advantage.
  4. Panel structures. The advantage of panel doors is that they are inexpensive and do not require special care, are easily replaceable, have a presentable appearance. In addition, they are well decorated and fit into any interior. About 85–90% of all doors are panel doors. This design can be glazed, decorated with natural veneer or artificial materials. Panel doors - best option for most apartments and offices.
