The advantages of such fittings are as follows:

  • when using such a fastening, the design will acquire a better level of adhesion;
  • such parts can be connected to each other;
  • the use of confirmations will allow the structure to withstand significant loads for a long time. But to attach a bookshelf, it is recommended to use a dowel and confirmation.

There are also disadvantages:

  • Once the product has been assembled, it will no longer be possible to disassemble it. Such structures will not withstand regular assembly and disassembly;
  • Such fastenings do not belong to the hidden category, so they require additional masking using plastic plugs, which are selected according to the color of the product.

Dimensions

To make the drilling process as easy as possible, you should use special drills that are produced exclusively for Euroscrews. They consist of a regular drill and cutter and are used to make holes with diameters of 0.7 cm. This size is ideal for both countersinking and a confirmed neck.

Nuances of fasteners

Even despite the ease of use of this type of fasteners, for proper operation they require certain skills regarding working with basic types of materials. It is recommended to use the latter method, since it allows you to correctly make one hole at a time.

  • plastic.

What is the advantage of connecting parts using confirmat

The confirmat has different sizes. It's relatively inexpensive fastener, which has a number of advantages:

  • delicate to the material - does not destroy it;
  • able to withstand tearing and bending loads;

Technology of using confirmat

It should be said that the hole sizes for confirmation are different. They must be drilled in three different diameters - for thread, for head and for countersunk. Therefore, there are two technologies for creating holes:

  • In the first case, you can use a regular drill, but you will have to take three different diameters. First you need to drill the entire length of the tie for the thread, then slightly large diameter under the head and finally under the cap flange. The diameter of each drill, naturally, depends on the size of the specific confirmat. This method is inconvenient and time-consuming, although it may be suitable for small volumes of work.

  • The second option is more professional and has been adopted by qualified people. There is a special drill for confirmation with a step-type cutter. Such a tool simultaneously drills all the holes and makes a hole for the countersunk hole. Application required electric drill in high speed mode.

Euroscrews connect parts at an angle of 90 degrees. In order to make a joint, it is necessary to fasten the two parts together using the way they should be connected according to the diagram. Holes for confirmations can be made using drills with a diameter of 4.5-5 mm for the screw shaft, and a hole for the head is made with a special stepped cutter attached to the drill.

The last option is the most convenient, as it allows you to prepare holes in one pass.

To make a high-quality hole, it is better to use a high-speed one. At low speeds, the drill can pull the wood and become clogged with chips that will not be completely removed from the hole.

The cutter makes perfect holes, and when removed, the drill leaves small chips along the edge of the holes, which in this case is not critical, since they will be covered by the screw head.

Euroscrews provide more reliable connections than other types of fasteners due to the wide protruding threads that firmly cut into the material.

Confirmat is a universal fastener, but it has some disadvantages and application features.

Confirmat should be used simultaneously with the use of dowels. A dowel is a wooden rod with a diameter of 6-8 mm and a length of 20-30 mm (in the photo below, next to the confirmation). The dowel acts as a guide and does not allow parts to move during tightening.

Despite the fact that furniture assembled using confiramate can be assembled or disassembled, furniture made from laminated chipboard does not tolerate this very well. As a rule, after one disassembly, the furniture screed no longer holds well.

The confirmation should be wrapped carefully. The best option is by hand or with a screwdriver at low speed. Otherwise, the confirmation thread turns into a drill, which breaks the hole.

There are a huge number of types of shelf supports. However, they can be divided into two groups: shelf holders for chipboards and shelf holders for glass. In turn, each of these groups can be divided into two types: shelf holders with and without fixation.

The shelf holder for laminated chipboard consists of 2 parts: a rod and a shelf holder.

To tie two tabletops together, use a pair of ties. To install the tie rods, it is necessary to make recesses for the tie rod stops and a slot for the screw. This can be done in various ways. Eurovint, aka confirmat

There are Euroscrews different types, the most commonly used are 6x50, 7x50, 7x70. Long confirmations are used less frequently, for example, to connect parts made of 32mm chipboard. the most popular standard size is 6x50.

The euroscrews of the part are connected at right angles, that is, in one part a hole is drilled in the plane of the part itself, and in the other (a smaller hole into which the confirmat thread itself is screwed) - at the end of the part. Below are the main parameters of the confirmat itself. Can be selected drill diameters for making holes for fastening euro-coils in both parts to be fastened.

How to mark holes for confirmation?

In general, there are 2 ways of drilling holes for Euro screws (confirmations):

  1. We drill holes separately with different drills of diameters - 6-8 mm and 4.2 or 4.5 mm. But this takes a lot of time and does not always work out accurately and evenly. And there is one more nuance, it is advisable to do it secretly under the screw head, because then it cannot crumble the laminate when twisted chipboard surfaces or protrudes above the surface. Another important point- so that the laminate does not crumble on back side slabs when drilling - it is necessary to lay some kind of unnecessary detail from chipboard or wood.
  2. A special drill for confirmation, which drills both holes and also makes it in secret. In this case, both parts are fastened corner clamps immediately in the position required and immediately after drilling, the confirmat is screwed in.

When connecting parts using a confirmat, there is no need to drag it, otherwise the chipboard may burst. If the parts have moved, you need to unscrew the screw a little, press the part as necessary, and then tighten it again. To do this, it is advisable to drill a hole in the part that is being fastened with a diameter of 8 mm so that there is a slight backlash. You can correct the relative position of the parts with a rubber hammer, but within reason. After tightening the euroscrew/confirmation, its head is closed with a plug (they are multi-colored - to match the color of the corresponding plate).

Confirmat- This is a screw with a blunt end, which is needed to fasten wooden elements together. This screw is screwed in using a cross or hexagonal cutout in the head. More often you can find the second type. Before screwing the confirmat, you need to drill a hole.

The confirmat received its name from the German company Confirmat of the same name, operating in the 1970s. In Russia, this type of fastener, oddly enough, began to be actively used only in the early 1990s.

Confirmat is a representative of a standard furniture connection. Thanks to it, you can easily pull and tightly compress two pieces of wood, which after such a connection will never diverge.

Having studied the information described below, you, by analogy, will be able to assemble furniture in your home with your own hands, ordering only boards cut according to the right sizes and having edges in the right places. Many companies now provide similar services, and self-assembly furniture has long become a favorite “place” where sensible people try to save money.

Technology for assembling furniture “to confirm”.

First of all, let's get acquainted with the tools and accessories that we will need.

Power tools:

1) Drill with drill (photo 2-3) – the diameter of the drill is selected according to the diameter of the confirm thread. Most often it is 5mm.
2) Screwdriver (photo 4) – used for screwing the confirmat into wood. When tightening, significant resistance forces can occur, so make sure that your screwdriver is set to the maximum power setting. To work with the confirmat, a hexagon is inserted into the screwdriver (photo 5).





Hand tools and fixtures:

1) Hex key (photo 6). This key is needed in order to press the confirmat until its cap sinks into the surface of the tree. The convenience of such a key is that it has small sizes and at the same time, to tighten it, it is not necessary to make a full revolution, since the tool has a ratchet, the principle of operation of which is especially well known to motorists.
2) Square with clamps (photo 7). When connecting two wooden elements, the square serves as a lock that prevents the wood from moving apart, making a perfect 90-degree angle.


As already mentioned, we will be assembling a drawer for a nightstand as an example. Such drawers are also popularly called cabinets or bedside tables. Four chipboard boards will be required as prepared raw materials (photo 8). For convenience, all parts of the work will be broken down and described in stages.


Stage 1.

We assemble the boards into the shape of a drawer. Let's look carefully at the edges. Those places where the end of the board connects with the plane of another board do not have a decorative edge. In its place there is an ordinary nondescript saw cut, which is covered either with another board or with a facade. Facade – front side furniture. Having outlined what will be located where, proceed to the direct connection.

Stage 2.

We make one of the 90-degree angles of the drawer for the bedside table. Your task is to make everything as smooth as possible. The junction of two elements should be as smooth as possible. A corner with clamps will help you cope with the task (photo 9). You need to press the sides on it alternately. If you do everything at the same time, you will not achieve evenness! Do not press too hard as this will damage the edges on the wood. While studying corner connection, first set the upper edge and only after fixing it with confirmation, the lower one. Doing everything at the same time, and at the same time smoothly, is a very difficult task!

Stage 3.

Having fixed two wooden element, we begin to drill a hole for the confirmation (photo 10). We do this with a drill. Holding the wooden plank on one side with your hand, use your other hand to bring the drill to the desired point. Your goal is to drill the hole so that it goes through the center of the end of the board (Photo 11). The depth of the hole depends on the length of the confirmat. Pay attention to the photo of the drill (photo 12). It has an extension towards the base. This is necessary in order to obtain a hole into which the thickened part of the confirmat will fit. When drilling, do not immediately make a hole to the entire required depth. At first, it is drilled only until the drill thickens, after which the drill is removed from the wood at speed, and with it the chips. Only after this can you drill the hole to the end. The square with the clamp cannot be removed after drilling!





Stage 4.

On at this stage You will need, directly, the confirmation itself (photo 13). We insert it evenly into the drilled hole (photo 14). Then we tighten it with a screwdriver with an inserted hexagon tip (photo 15). There is no need to tighten the confirmation with a screwdriver until the end (photo 16). You can do this easier and more accurately using a hex wrench (photo 17). We continue to clamp the confirmat with a hexagon until the head of the above “sinks” a little into the wood (photo 18).






Stage 5.

Confirmat, aka euroscrew, aka euroscrew, aka screw tie- this is, simply put, a furniture screw. Loved by furniture makers for its ease of installation and does not require special precision when adding - you only need a drill and a hex key for confirmation.

To install this tie you need two holes: one is drilled at the end the main part, and the other - in the layer part that is attached to the main one. Confirmat is so easy to add that you can even drill holes for it on site during the assembly process of the product. Even a novice furniture maker can handle this.

In order to simplify drilling holes for Euroscrews, a special drill is available. consists of a cutter and a regular drill. The cutter is designed for drilling a hole with a diameter of 7 mm (for the neck of the confirmat) and countersinking (for the head of the confirmat). The drill is inserted into the cutter skirt and clamped with a screw.


Often, such a drill is not so easy to find on sale, especially in small towns. But even if you don't buy it, don't be upset, it has some drawbacks. This is my personal opinion.

The first thing I encountered when working with a confirmation drill was that with a large amount of work, over time, sawdust became clogged between the drill and the cutter skirt. This quickly leads to the drill becoming unusable. Vibration causes the clamping screw to loosen. You have to clamp it more often, so the edges on the key and eventually on the screw itself get licked off.

I don't use a confirmation drill. I use two regular drills ( different sizes under the thread and neck of the screw) and countersink.

Important nuance:

When drilling a blind hole into the end of a slab, it is important to maintain perpendicularity so that the drill does not pierce the wall of the part! I speak from my own experience.

The most popular confirmation is 7x50. The screw tie is tightened with a special key by hand or a hex bit using a drill or screwdriver.

Under no circumstances buy confirmations made to fit a Phillips screwdriver! With such a Euroscrew you will not be able to tighten the parts as tightly as possible. This may cause the product to become loose.


Disadvantages of confirmation:

  • This is not a hidden fastener. You can see the hat. It is usually covered with either a plastic plug or a sticker, matching the color of the chipboard.
  • furniture that is assembled on confirmations does not withstand repeated assembly and disassembly (no more than three times). This is due to the fact that the confirmat cuts threads in chipboard - relatively soft material. And with frequent disassembly, the thread may break.

Pros of confirmation:

  • confirmat is easy to install and does not require special equipment or precision when adding (as is the case with minifix). But there is no need to relax. To do quality furniture It is necessary to accurately drill for any fasteners.
  • The confirmat tightens the parts quite tightly and reliably. “Sits” well in the material.
  • withstands heavy loads. But in the case of fastening a shelf that is expected to be “loaded” well, confirmat fasteners + dowel are used.
  • You can correct it with a mallet. For example, align parts at the ends. But in this case, it’s better not to twist the confirmation from there.

In my opinion, the confirmat is convenient, reliable, and quick to use. But if the opportunity arises to use equipment or a device for more complex fasteners, I would choose an eccentric coupler.

Every person has come across furniture made from chipboard more than once, as this is perhaps the widest furniture segment and the most popular due to its affordable price compatible with sufficient quality. In other words, this furniture is called cabinet furniture. The most popular fastener for this furniture is such an element as confirmat. The confirmat was invented by specialists from the German company Häfele in 1973, although in our country this fastener began to be widely used only in the early 90s of the last century.

This furniture tie is a metal rod with a rare external thread, which is used to fasten furniture parts to each other at an angle of 90 degrees. To tighten this type of fastener, the head has a countersunk head with a hex or cross slot. In addition, confirmations can be used for MDF fastenings, timber and various lumber of small thickness.

Installation of confirmat

To install the confirmat, you must first drill holes in the parts to be fastened. For this you can use a regular drill with two drills. For through hole a drill with a diameter of 7 mm is used, and for the internal part a drill with a diameter of 5 mm is used. Using a thinner drill, we drill a hole approximately 10 mm shorter than the threaded connection of the confirmat.

It is very convenient to use a special two-stage drill for this. With its help, you can drill both holes at once. After this, the parts are connected at an angle of 90 degrees and at the same time drilled holes are combined. Next, the confirmat is screwed in. As a result, after completely twisting the confirmat, only the top of the slot remains outside, and threaded connection located inside the chipboard. In this case, the main part of the thread goes into the internal part where we used a 5 mm drill for the hole.

In order to give the furniture a more presentable look, the top of the slot is covered with plastic plugs matching the color of the chipboard.

Advantages and disadvantages of confirmations

The main advantage of confirmats, which allowed them to gain popularity, is ease of installation. Also, this type of fastener does not require great precision. Confirmat has a very simple design and provides a fairly reliable connection of parts. Due to its design, the confirmat works like a self-tapping screw. Thus, when twisting into chipboard, minimal destruction of the material structure occurs.

Flaws are also inherent in confirmats. The first of them is that during installation one of the holes is through and the end of the fastener is visible on the front side of the part. It can be closed with a plug, but not everyone likes it. Another disadvantage of fastening elements is the reduction in the load-bearing capacity of the fastening during the process of repeated disassembly and assembly of furniture, for example when moving.

As you know, the main part of the furniture where these fasteners are used is assembled from chipboard - which in turn is made from sawdust and shavings. If drilled in chipboard hole twist and unscrew the confirmat from it several times, the contacting material is cut by the thread and the connection becomes loose. It is not recommended to assemble more than three times.

Technology for assembling furniture “to confirm”.

Power tools:

1) Drill with drill (photo 2-3) – the diameter of the drill is selected according to the diameter of the confirm thread. Most often it is 5mm.
2) Screwdriver (photo 4) – used for screwing the confirmat into wood. When tightening, significant resistance forces can occur, so make sure that your screwdriver is set to the maximum power setting. To work with the confirmat, a hexagon is inserted into the screwdriver (photo 5).







Hand tools and fixtures:

1) Hex key (photo 6). This key is needed in order to press the confirmat until its cap sinks into the surface of the tree. The convenience of such a wrench is that it is small in size and it is not necessary to make a full turn to tighten it, since the tool has a ratchet, the principle of operation of which is especially well known to motorists.
2) Square with clamps (photo 7). When connecting two wooden elements, the square serves as a lock that prevents the wood from moving apart, making a perfect 90-degree angle.



As already mentioned, we will be assembling a drawer for a nightstand as an example. Such drawers are also popularly called cabinets or bedside tables. Four chipboard boards will be required as prepared raw materials (photo 8). For convenience, all parts of the work will be broken down and described in stages.

Stage 1.

We assemble the boards into the shape of a drawer. Let's look carefully at the edges. Those places where the end of the board connects with the plane of another board do not have a decorative edge. In its place there is an ordinary nondescript saw cut, which is covered either with another board or with a facade. Facade – the front side of the furniture. Having outlined what will be located where, proceed to the direct connection.

Stage 2.

We make one of the 90-degree angles of the drawer for the bedside table. Your task is to make everything as smooth as possible. The junction of two elements should be as smooth as possible. A corner with clamps will help you cope with the task (photo 9). You need to press the sides on it alternately. If you do everything at the same time, you will not achieve evenness! Do not press too hard as this will damage the edges on the wood. When making a corner connection, first set the upper edge and only after fixing it with confirmation, the lower one. Doing everything at the same time, and at the same time smoothly, is a very difficult task!

Stage 3.

Having fixed the two wooden elements, we begin to drill a hole for the confirmation (photo 10). We do this with a drill. Holding the wooden plank on one side with your hand, use your other hand to bring the drill to the desired point. Your goal is to drill the hole so that it goes through the center of the end of the board (Photo 11). The depth of the hole depends on the length of the confirmat. Pay attention to the photo of the drill (photo 12). It has an extension towards the base. This is necessary in order to obtain a hole into which the thickened part of the confirmat will fit. When drilling, do not immediately make a hole to the entire required depth. At first, it is drilled only until the drill thickens, after which the drill is removed from the wood at speed, and with it the chips. Only after this can you drill the hole to the end. The square with the clamp cannot be removed after drilling!




Stage 4.

At this stage, you will need, directly, the confirmation itself (photo 13). We insert it evenly into the drilled hole (photo 14). Then we tighten it with a screwdriver with an inserted hexagon tip (photo 15). There is no need to tighten the confirmation with a screwdriver until the end (photo 16). You can do this easier and more accurately using a hex wrench (photo 17). We continue to clamp the confirmat with a hexagon until the head of the above “sinks” a little into the wood (photo 18).









Stage 5.
