Structure of a two-valve mixer

A two-valve mixer is a classic and familiar option for most.

The temperature and water pressure are adjusted manually using rotational movements. At its core, this mixer is a chamber for mixing cold and hot water. Mixed water flows out of the tap under its own pressure, and to prevent it from splashing too much, a mesh is installed on the spout of the product.

Installation of two-valve bathroom faucets has the following features:

  • the distance between the pipes should be 15 cm;
  • to screw such a bathroom faucet to water pipes eccentrics are required;
  • 2 faucet axle boxes are built into the body of the product (for cold and hot water), and this is the most important and basic part in such faucets;

Single lever bathroom faucets have become very popular in last years. The reason for their popularity is that the temperature and water pressure can be adjusted simultaneously, which is very convenient. In addition, if necessary, the water that flows from such a tap can be turned off instantly. Single-lever faucets come in 2 varieties: with a lever located along the spout, and with a joystick mounted vertically. In any case, for installation similar product you will need the following:

  • an eccentric on which a conical socket is installed, and a union nut on top;
  • a sealing gasket that immediately performs 2 very important functions: a coarse filter for water and a sealant at the junction of the eccentric and the union nut.

The central part of the product consists of the following parts:

  • lever installed on the fixation screw;
  • cartridge, which is pressed against seat using a special nut.

Mixer with thermostat and contactless models: design features

The design of such a product provides for the presence of a thermostatic element in the body, with the help of which the water temperature is changed. This element independently controls the amount of cold and hot water that is necessary to achieve the user-specified temperature.

It is practically no different from installing other types of products. The only thing you need to do is to ensure the supply of cold and hot water exactly where it is required by the mixer you have chosen, i.e. if cold and hot water are swapped, the thermostat simply will not work.

Touchless bathroom faucets are the latest technology in this matter. Such taps do not need to adjust the water pressure and temperature at all. All the user needs to do is simply raise their hands.

Such products even look very different from their analogs: you won’t see any valves or levers on them. Water supply starts with shut-off valve, which responds to readings installed sensor. A screw is hidden under the body of the product, which makes it possible to set the parameters of temperature and water pressure.
