Shower area in the bathroom without a tray. Shower cabin without tray in the bathroom. Shower equipment for built-in faucets

Welcome to the sixth article in the Bathroom Design Guide series. Links to previous parts of the guide are located in. The topic of today's article is the shower area.

The shower area is the place where a person takes a shower. In the bathroom it can be represented in one of the following images:

  • Shower area and bath. If space allows, create both zones in your bathroom: Bath for relaxation, shower for hygiene procedures. No compromises.
  • Bathtub combined with shower. A compact option for medium and small bathrooms where a bathtub fits, but there is no room for a full shower. I talked about it in more detail in the manual.
  • Shower area without bath. Some people don’t like to lie in the bathtub, which means it’s not necessary to buy one. Also, in the bathroom there may not be enough space to accommodate a full-fledged bath, and the shower area, with the same functions (hygienic procedures), significantly saves space ( the shower area occupies a floor space of 80x80 cm, and the bathtub - from 150x70 cm).

The beauty of a shower area is that it can be created anywhere in the bathroom. To do this, you need to bring hot and cold pipes to the place where you plan to create a shower area. cold water, as well as discharge to the sewer. Also, you must decide whether you want to purchase a ready-made kit (shower stall) or whether you prefer to create a shower area yourself. In the finished kit, the number and location of various elements and functions are specified by the manufacturer. In the second case, you choose what and how will be located in the shower area: which elements are in demand for you, and which are completely unnecessary.

However, in a large shower area, there is nothing better than walking in the shower stall. A floor-level shower with a rain shower is a combination that promises the ultimate shower experience. Large shower head envelops the whole body warm water with countless nozzles. In addition, you can choose a shower system consisting of shower shower and a hand shower.

The bathroom is neat: away from edges and stumbling blocks. A floor-to-ceiling shower that seamlessly connects with the rest of the area in the bathroom is a big bath planning trend. More and more bathtub owners are enjoying the benefits of optical generosity and freedom of movement. Stepless entry into the pleasure of showering can already be considered synonymous with modern bathroom architecture. The trend is also a renovation success story.

First, I will talk about the basic elements, and then about the finished kits. The final choice is yours.

The shower area resembles a small room containing the faucet, shower equipment and the person taking the shower. It consists of two parts: equipment and shell.

Shower area equipment (filling):

First floor in a new building and modernization

The most modern technology bathrooms are a shower for a shower in almost every atmosphere. Not only in a new building, but also in bathroom remodeling; Last but not least, the solution also fits into many modernization retrofits of an old building. This is facilitated by innovative, compact drainage systems and shallow shower trays that flow smoothly through the floor once installed. This also does small rooms look big. No steps separate a bath that offers maximum comfort for generations.

  1. shower mixer (supplies and mixes water);
  2. shower equipment (receives water from the mixer and sprays it onto the person).

Shower area shell (shower area itself):

  1. bathroom wall (the faucet and shower are attached to it, as well as other elements requiring fastening);
  2. pan (collects water and discharges to the sewer)
  3. shower enclosures (transparent or translucent structure made of glass or plastic designed to protect the bathroom from water).

The equipment supplies water, and the shell removes it from the shower area and does not allow it to penetrate beyond its boundaries. When selecting equipment and shell, you need to meet two conditions:

You will be informed about the installation options intelligently. A shower tray is a slab of various materials, such as ceramic, acrylic, mineral filler or natural stone, which is installed on the bathroom floor and acts as a drain against water leaks and leads to the drain.

Advantages of shower trays

Reasons that lead to the installation of shower trays in the bathroom, to the detriment of the bathroom. Taking a shower involves 90% of your water and energy consumption. Shower trays are safer because they eliminate architectural barriers to entering and exiting the bathtub. In addition, there are special dishes for people with disabilities limited mobility, even those in need of wheelchairs.

  1. The volume of incoming water should not exceed the sewerage capacity (so that water does not accumulate).
  2. The shower area shell must accommodate the equipment, the person, and extra space so that a person is not constrained in movement (the minimum shower space in which an adult will be more or less comfortable taking a shower is 80x80 cm).

Quite schematically and exaggeratedly, the creation of a shower area looks like this:

Shower area shell

There are many sizes available, so there are shower trays to suit every bathroom, no matter the size. In addition, if you choose small or medium plates, you will save space and use it, for example, to place other furniture in the bathroom.

Which dish to choose depending on the space in your bathroom?

Access to dishes is better than to bathtubs and makes cleaning tasks easier. There are shower trays different sizes and forms. This is why the space available in your bathroom is key when choosing a shower tray. For rooms with an area of less than 3.5 square meters Recommended shapes for shower trays are quarter circle or square. Quarter circle models are those that occupy less space and allow you to install a shower in a small bathroom or in a medium-sized bathroom in which you want to reserve more square footage for the sink or toilet.

  1. choose a location for the shower area near one or more walls;
  2. plan the type of shower equipment (external or built-in), supply water and buy a mixer and shower that correspond to the plan;
  3. plan a drain hole into the sewer and buy a shower tray;
  4. Enclose the remaining uncovered space with shower enclosures.

I want to say again that this is an exaggerated and simplified model, which should not be taken as a direct guide to action, but it is quite suitable for understanding the process.

What materials can shower trays be made of?

For bathrooms larger than 3.5 square meters, you can choose rectangular plates in addition to the previous models.

Basically we can distinguish between four types of shower trays. Ceramics. Made from clay, feldspar and siliceous sand. They are the most economical solution. They are highly resistant to chemicals, since their color does not turn yellow due to the action of these substances. However, they have two disadvantages that make installation difficult: its high weight and its fragility.

Shower area equipment

Shower mixer.

The shower faucet (aka shower faucet) supplies water to the shower area. Distinctive feature shower faucet - lack of spout typical for bath faucet.

Bath mixer (left) and shower mixer (right) Gessi Rettangolo. A bathtub faucet has a spout, but a shower faucet does not.

Shower mixers can be wall-mounted or built-in, conventional or thermostatic. Let's look at everything in order.

Equipment of hotel rooms

They consist of an acrylic outer layer and an inner layer of fiberglass or polyurethane. Over traditional ceramic slab, you get greater impact resistance and a larger non-slip surface. It is a lighter weight material which makes it easier to install. Mineral load. This feature allows them to be installed flush with the floor, making access to the shower easier.

Another quality is that they are more resistant to impacts. Mineral fillers have standard sizes, but they are also available in special sizes, so they are made according to the buyer's requirement. There are plates with mineral loading various finishes, and between them we recommend an enamel gel coating, which is the most non-slip, resistant and anti-bacterial.

  • Wall mixer. The control, body and mixing element of such a mixer are located outside. Mixers of this type are cheaper and easier to install and replace. The wall-mounted faucet can also be used as a washcloth shelf.

Wall-mounted shower mixer Grohe Eurostyle Cosmopolitan. Model 33590 002.
  • Built-in mixer. For a built-in faucet, the control is located outside, and the mixing element and connection are inside the wall. Such faucets are more expensive, more difficult to install and almost impossible to replace (only with models from the same manufacturer), but they have one big advantage: they do not take up space in the shower area, which will be especially important for a small space.

Built-in shower faucets Grohe Eurostyle Cosmopolitan. On the left is one shower, and on the right is two showers.

Both wall-mounted and built-in shower faucets can be either conventional or thermostatic. In a regular mixer, you reset the required water pressure and temperature from visit to visit. The thermostatic mixer allows you to set and maintain the temperature at the same level. That is, you set for yourself comfortable temperature(manufacturers set it to 38°C by default) and then, during your next shower visits, just turn on the water and adjust its pressure. Set temperature will be preserved, protecting you from an unplanned contrast shower or burn from boiling water.

A natural stone. They may consist of slate, marble or granite. With characteristics very similar to those of mineral load, they are less resistant to impact but have a warm contact. If our goal is to improve the safety and accessibility of the bathroom.

Pros and cons of a walk-in shower versus a custom shower area

We recommend using natural stone or mineral load because they are flat and therefore installed at ground level, improving its accessibility and non-slip surface. If you want your dish to remain clean after cleaning, choose a dish made of ceramic or natural stone. If you want high impact resistance, your plate should be acrylic.

Choosing a mixer for a shower area is a choice of the shower system as a whole. If you buy a wall-mounted faucet, then all shower equipment must also have an external connection using a shower hose. If you choose a built-in mixer, then only shower equipment that has a hidden connection is suitable for it.

Firstly, it will make it easier for you to sketch your bathroom with measurements and exact placement of other elements such as vanity, toilet, etc. this way you will know the space you have and the most appropriate place for installing a shower tray.

The next step is to measure the space you want your shower tray to occupy. Perfect alignment surface is fundamental for correct placement of the plate. Remember that the hole drain valve must have sufficient space for connection.

Shower equipment

The task of shower equipment (shower) is to spray water received from the mixer onto a person. The wider the shower disc, the more productive it is and the faster the showering process will go. Shower equipment includes the following elements: hand shower, overhead shower and shower nozzles. The hand shower is suitable for all types of faucets, while the overhead shower and shower nozzles are only suitable for built-in models.

Before you begin installation, you should check the ground level as this is necessary for proper placement of the dish. All shower trays are designed in such a way that they fall sufficiently into the drain. Additionally, you should make sure that the pipes have enough drips to drain the water from the shower and that there is enough space to connect to the drain valve.

We must admit that baths are no longer wasted. A set of shower cabins inserted into the bathroom river, made in Mislata.

They are regular, scratch and solvent resistant. They are good option in order not to spend a lot of money. The disadvantage is that they are slippery, cold, little decorative and higher than the floor.

They are non-slip and very light, with a height of 6 cm, flat and very fast. They cost a little more than ceramics. They may scratch or sag. They are usually made of plastic.

Shower equipment for wall mounted faucets

Shower equipment for wall mounted faucets has an external connection using a shower hose. The hose can be metal or plastic and has a length of 1250, 1500, 1750 and 2000 mm. 99% of manufactured hoses have a standard thread diameter of 1/2″ at both ends and, if they fail, can be easily replaced with similar ones.

They are made from a mixture of resins and marble. They can be cut to the right size. Ideal for installation at ground level, completely eliminating barriers to access to the shower.

They are 2 × 2 cm pottery in 30 cm slabs joined by Maya. There is a wide variety of colors. They can be made to measure as needed and are ideal for first level finishing.

Shower equipment for wall-mounted faucets includes:

  • Hand shower. Consists of a small watering can, which is convenient to hold in your hand, a hose and wall holder. The holder is fixed just above the head or next to the mixer. As a main shower this design may not seem very convenient. ( Read more about hand showers in the article).

Shower mixer with hand shower Bandini Antica.
  • Shower on a bar. Consists of a hand-held watering can, a hose and a rod with a holder. Unlike the previous option, the holder moves up and down the bar, allowing you to adjust the height of the shower. The bar can be equipped with additional accessories (soap dish or shelf for washcloths). ( Read more about shower sets in the article).

Shower set Axor Uno.
  • Shower Rack for Wall Faucets. Consists of a fixed wide overhead shower and a hand shower. The hand shower can be attached to a holder (like a hand shower) or to a separate rod, depending on the model. If the shower set seems too simple to you, pay attention to this option.

Shower stand Axor Carlton.
  • Shower panel for wall mounted faucets. It also consists of an overhead shower and a hand shower, but, unlike a shower stand, it has a body. Some manufacturers complete shower panels with hydromassage nozzles, so if you want a wall-mounted mixer and a side shower (nozzles), then only this option will suit you.

Shower panel Hansa Smartshower.

All of the above equipment, based on the richness of its functionality, can be distributed as follows: shower panel > shower column > shower set > hand shower.

Typically, joints tend to darken over time, although there are products that can restore them to their natural color.

They should be made from boulders, give a natural look to the bathroom and can be customized to your liking and will not slip or scratch.

The inconvenient thing is that over time the joints tend to darken. Mineral Loaded Plates are ideal for floor level installation and are easy to adjust.

  • Ceramic dishes are scratch-resistant and economical.
  • Acrylic plates are non-slip and are usually made of plastic.
  • River stones dishes are natural and inexpensive.
I hope this information helps you.

Pros and cons of shower equipment for wall-mounted faucets:

  • Pros: this equipment is easy to install and replace in case of malfunction, and also change to a new model if you are tired of the old one.
  • Cons: Less flexibility in placement since all shower equipment is located next to the faucet.

Shower equipment for built-in faucets

For built-in faucets, all communications are laid deep into the wall during repairs, which means the number and location of equipment must be thought out in advance. But you are not tied to the length of the hose like with wall-mounted faucets and can position the faucet and shower as and where you want. Shower from the ceiling? Easily. Side shower with several rows? Why not. Hand shower two meters from the faucet? Easily (although no one does this, of course). Built-in faucets and similar shower equipment allow you to create a shower area that is ideal for you.

One built-in shower mixer can connect 1 or 2 showers, depending on the mixer model. If desired, you can connect 3, 4 or even more shower elements using additional adapters.

It's easy to get confused when it comes to shower fittings for built-in faucets. To prevent this from happening, we will divide all showers into three types: overhead shower, hand shower and side shower. Souls of the same type should not be duplicated.

  • Shower set with adapter (combines overhead and hand shower). Similar to the shower set for wall-mounted mixers. The hose is not attached to the mixer directly, but through an adapter and internal liner. The shower set combines two showers: overhead and manual.
Built-in mixer with shower set.

The shower set is an independent element and theoretically there is no need to buy anything additional for it, except perhaps a side shower. This design can be considered universal economical option. The following shower equipment, although they can be used separately, are often combined with each other, as they perform completely different functions.

  • Hand shower with adapter. Exactly the same hand shower as wall-mounted faucets. The only difference is that the hose is not attached to the mixer directly, but through an adapter and an internal connection. A hand shower is used for local body washing.
Built-in mixer with hand shower (bottom) and overhead shower (top).
  • Overhead shower. The overhead shower can be mounted to the wall or ceiling. It can be square or round, wide ( tropical shower) or narrow sports (as in some gyms). When you turn on the overhead shower, the water simultaneously covers your entire body. In this case, you do not need to hold anything in your hands (as is the case with a hand shower). You can just relax, close your eyes and think about something pleasant. Unfortunately, the overhead shower consumes quite a lot of water, so it is advisable to buy a hand shower for it (if you just want to wash your feet, then turning on the overhead shower will be too wasteful, but a hand shower will do just fine).

  • Side shower (shower nozzles). Side showers are often called hydromassage jets, side jets or shower jets. These are small shower elements located to the left and right of the mixer and direct water horizontally to the floor. With their help it is created water curtain, affecting the entire body at the same time.

Let me give a brief summary.

The built-in shower system is a real construction kit. The mixer is connected to the corresponding shower equipment via pipes embedded in the wall. You can choose a shower set or purchase an overhead shower + hand shower and optionally add a side shower. At the same time, these are just two of the most popular options out of many possible ones.

Pros and cons of shower equipment for built-in faucets:

  • Pros: the ability to create the shower system that best suits you, a variety of showers that perform different functions, as well as saving space in the shower area.
  • Disadvantages: difficulty in maintenance, impossibility of replacing failed parts of the shower system with similar elements from another manufacturer.

Combination shower systems

If you read the previous paragraph on faucets and showers and found it too complicated and confusing, then I can offer you a simple and universal option, suitable for most shower areas - a shower panel with its own mixer.

Shower panel Hansgrohe Raindance Lift with external mixer, overhead and hand shower.

The shower panel combines everything that I talked about above - a hand shower, an overhead shower, a side shower and other interesting functions depending on the model. Unfortunately, you will still have to choose a panel with an external or built-in mixer, but the rest of the equipment will already be installed and configured.

We can talk endlessly about shower equipment. I haven’t even talked about a tenth of the interesting things for the shower area, but for the purposes of this guide this is not required. It is important that you understand the very essence of choosing a mixer and suitable shower equipment, so that when you open a catalog with these products or come to a store, you understand what it is and what it is needed for, and also whether you need what the seller is offering you.

Shower area shell

At the beginning of the article, I said that the shower area consists of a faucet, shower equipment, a tray and enclosures. The first two elements make up the essence of the shower area, and I have already talked about them. The remaining two elements are the shell of the shower area. We will talk about it now.

The shower enclosure is a small room that houses the faucet, shower equipment, and the person showering. It consists of several components: one or more bathroom walls ( a mixer, shower and other elements that require reliable fastening are attached to them), pallet ( collects the water coming from the shower and directs it to the drain) and shower enclosures ( a transparent or translucent structure made of glass or plastic designed to protect the bathroom from water).

Shower area walls and fences

The shower area should be located near one or more walls (not necessarily solid ones). Walls are needed to install faucets and shower equipment, as well as to support fences. There can be from one to three walls.

  • Shower area with one wall. A faucet, shower and shower enclosure are attached to this lonely wall. Such a shower area is called a wall area and is enclosed by appropriate wall shower enclosures, which can be closed or with a free entrance. The shower area with one wall is lighter than the others and visually appears lighter.

Wall shower enclosures Duka. On the left is a closed shower enclosure, and on the right is a free entrance.
  • Shower area with two walls. A shower area with two walls is a great space saver in the bathroom. It is enclosed by corner shower enclosures called shower enclosures. Shower corners can be symmetrical (photo below, left) or asymmetrical (photo below, right), in addition they can be square, rounded and pentagonal, with a door or with a free entrance.

Corner shower enclosures Duka.
  • Shower area with three walls. A shower area with three walls is a shower niche. It can be planned during the bathroom design or created from an existing niche of a suitable size. The shower niche allows you to place any shower equipment, including a steam generator (allowing you to create a steam bath from the shower area). Shower niches are fenced with special niche barriers, which consist of one or more sections.

Shower enclosures for niches from the factory Duka.

Opening the catalog of any manufacturer of shower enclosures you will find a large number of various models, which, at first glance, are easy to get confused. I’ll write a few tips to immediately exclude everything unnecessary in catalogs and stores:

  • Space in the bathroom. If the bathroom small size, consider corner options, if medium or large in size - wall-mounted models, if there is a niche in the bathroom - fences for the niche.
  • Number of walls. Choose a fence depending on how many walls will be used - one, two or three, and feel free to flip through the unsuitable options.
  • Pallet shape. The shape of the tray and the shape of the shower enclosure must match. If the pallet has already been purchased, then select it according to its shape (or you can do the opposite - find a pallet that matches the shape of the fence).
  • Personal preferences. If you want a bright shower area, then it’s better not to think about a niche and, on the contrary, a niche seems more secure and cozy.

Shower enclosures

I’ll dwell a little on shower enclosures, since we’re already on the subject. A shower enclosure is like a window. It has a frame, glazing and an opening element with a handle. All shower enclosures are built according to this principle with minor variations.

  • Frame or hinges. The shower enclosure can have a frame or hinges (frameless shower enclosure). This does not affect the durability of the structure in any way, only the price. It's cheaper with a frame, but more expensive with hinges.

Shower corners Ravak. On the left is a model with loops ( Ravak GlassLine) on the right with frame ( Ravak Blix).

Shower tray

It remains to consider the last element of the shower area - the shower tray. It is located on the floor of the shower area and should occupy its entire area. Its task is to collect and drain water into the sewer.

A shower tray consists of a tray bowl with a drain hole. Some pallets are equipped with legs or a metal frame, others are installed on the floor without additional accessories. For the pan, you need to purchase a siphon to connect it to the sewer.

Shower tray Hatria Drop.

Each pallet has a number of characteristics, the most important of which are the shape and diameter of the drain.

  • Pallet shape. The shape of the tray shapes the shape of the shower area. Pallets come in square, rectangular, round, semicircular, quarter circle and pentagonal. A shower enclosure is placed on the shower tray, and the tray itself must fit snugly against the walls of the shower area, otherwise water will get into the opening between the tray and the wall.

Shower trays Kaldewei. 1 - Pentagonal tray Kaldewei Cornezza, 2 — corner tray(1/4 circle) Kaldewei Arrondo, 3 - rectangular pallet Kaldewei Duschplan, 4 - square pallet Kaldewei Superplan, 5 - round tray Kaldewei Piatto.
  • Drain diameter. The trays are available with drain diameters of 90 and 52 mm. This affects its throughput. The wider the diameter, the faster water will leave the pallet. When choosing a siphon for a pallet, focus on this parameter.
  • Pallet material. Pallets, like bathtubs, are made from different materials: steel, cast iron, acrylic, artificial stone or ceramics. If you lie in the bathtub and touch the material with your whole body, then in the tray you just stand and touch it only with your feet. Therefore, the choice of material is entirely based on your preferences. Cast iron, ceramic and stone pallets are heavy, monolithic, do not rattle or bend. They are either installed directly on the floor or equipped with legs. Acrylic and steel pallets are lightweight, can make a little noise from falling water, and are installed on legs or on a metal frame.
  • Pallet height. Pallets are available in different heights. Low pallets can be built into the floor, and high ones can be used as small bath for washing the baby. You can choose a tray of any height you like, based on personal preferences and the intended design of the shower area.

Shower trays Novellini different heights.
  • Front Panel. High trays can be equipped with a front panel (like bathtubs). It performs exclusively decorative functions.
  • Anti-slip coating. The bottom of the tray for steel and cast iron models can be covered with an anti-slip layer based on quartz sand. If you choose pallets made of this material, then the presence of an anti-slip coating is mandatory to avoid injuries.

Shower area without tray

If you don't like the shower tray, you can do without it. The shower enclosure is not attached to the tray, but only stands on it, which means the tray can be easily excluded from general design, replacing it with a shower drain.

Shower drain TECE Drainpoint S from the catalog of the same name. The picture clearly shows the structure of the ladder. There is a drain grate on the outside, and in the depths of the floor there is a siphon and a drain to the sewer.

A shower drain is, roughly speaking, a siphon without a tray, installed in the floor. Water pours onto the floor, then concentrates in the area where the drain is located (the floor must have a certain slope) and drains into the sewer. And although a shower drain is a little more difficult to install, it can be used to create a completely different shower area than with a tray. Using a shower drain, you can make the floor in the shower area from any waterproof material of any color (trays are mainly available in white).

Shower enclosure Duka Libero 5000. The tiles in the bathroom extend into the shower area, making it feel more airy and open.

That’s probably all I wanted to tell you about the shell of the shower area. Let me give a brief summary.

  • The shower area can be located against one, two or three walls. The shape of the pallet and the type of fencing depend on your choice.
  • The shower area should accommodate you, the shower equipment, and additional space so that you can move freely inside.
  • You can create a shower area with either a tray or a shower drain, depending on the technical capabilities of the bathroom and your personal preferences.

Accessories for shower area

Accessories for the shower area are not mandatory, but their presence makes the showering process more convenient. For the shower area you can purchase the following accessories:

  • Soap box. For the shower area, you can purchase either a glass or ceramic soap dish, or a soap dish made of a metal grate. Personally, I would not recommend fragile or breakable elements in the shower area (especially if it is not very large), but not everyone will like a metal grate, so the choice is yours.

  • Towel holder. Choose longer models (from 60 cm) to accommodate a bath towel.

  • Towel shelf. Optional accessory. If you store clean towels within the bathroom, then this accessory may be useful to you. Very often the shelf and the towel holder are combined with each other.

Shower cabin

I spent the entire article telling you how to create a shower area from scratch from individual elements. But there is another way: the shower area can be in the form of a ready-made kit and called a shower cabin.

A shower cabin is a ready-made, factory-assembled and configured device that combines shower equipment and the shell of the shower area. It consists of a tray, shower enclosures (can be equipped with a roof), a built-in mixer and connected shower equipment (overhead, hand and side shower depending on the configuration).

Shower cabin Doctor Jet Century B.

Choosing a shower cabin is a choice of a finished product; you don’t have to think about what elements to buy, how to combine them with each other and how to install them. To install a shower cabin, you need to choose a location (again, one or two walls in the bathroom), select a shower cabin of a suitable type (the same as with fences), get an installation diagram and, according to it, carry out all communications. Then invite specialists from service department and they will install your shower stall.

Agree, this is much easier than selecting, comparing and correlating everything yourself. But if everything is so simple, you say, then why did you need to write so much about the shower area? The shower cabin and the individual shower area (let's call it that) consist of the same elements. When choosing an individual shower area, you will know what you need to buy and combine, and when choosing a shower cabin, you will understand what is included in the package and what it means. That is why I left the simpler option closer to the end.

Types of shower cabins

  • Form. The shapes of the shower cabins repeat the shapes of the pallets, which I wrote about above. The shower enclosure can have a square, rectangular, round, oval, pentagonal and corner (1/4 circle) shape. If you are placing the shower stall in a corner, you need a pentagonal or corner shower stall, and if you want to install it against one of the walls, then all other shapes will suit you.
  • Color and material. Shower cabins are produced mainly in white. You can find other colors in the store or in the catalog, but the main color is still white. The shower cabin body and tray can be made of acrylic or artificial stone, depending on the model. The choice of material is not so critical. You can base it on the price, appearance and the shape of the shower stall, and what it is made of is no longer so important.

Shower cabins Balteco. On the left is a corner acrylic shower stall Balteco Delta, on the right is rectangular made of artificial stone Balteco Tetris.
  • Filling. Shower cabins are equipped with their own mixers, various shower equipment, drainage system and accessories. You don't need to buy anything else. Shower cabins have pre-programmed operating modes of the system (tonic effect on the body, relaxation, treatment), which is not the case in individual shower areas. They can also be equipped with a steam generator, turning the shower cabin into a steam bath with a foot massager, seat, radio and audio player. All this can be installed in an individual shower area, but with great difficulty.

Pros and cons of a walk-in shower versus a custom shower area

  • Functional. The shower cabin has a number of unique functions; when choosing a shower cabin, you choose its contents. At the same time, an individual shower enclosure will allow you to acquire only the functions that are in demand and position the shower differently than in the cabin.
  • Dimensions. A shower stall is a fairly large element that places increased demands on the size of the bathroom. Not every bathroom can have a shower. An individual shower enclosure, on the contrary, has greater flexibility. It can be adjusted to fit the available space in the bathroom.
  • Price. Although the issue is controversial, a shower stall is more expensive than an individual shower enclosure (including due to the fact that you overpay for the many functions that are included in it).
  • Appearance. Shower stalls remain unchanged. In rare cases, you can choose the color of the glass or body, but they are generally produced in white. Individual shower enclosure has more quantity color solutions, and thanks to the shower drain, you can even use the floor in the bathroom without introducing additional colors.

The shower stall is expensive, large, and you don’t have to decide anything. If you need functionality above all, buy it. A custom shower enclosure with shower hardware will require some thoughtful design on your part, but will ensure you create a shower area that is right for you and has the features you need. If the style and design of your bathroom is important to you, and basic shower functions are enough for you, create a custom shower area.

  • Contents (

Currently, bathroom design provides a wide variety of options. One of the most popular solutions is a shower cabin without a tray.

This model allows you to save space, so it is perfect for rooms with different sizes.
