Craft windmill. Decorative box with your own hands. Coffee mill. Video - Decorative windmill

Despite the fact that the era of agriculture ended many years ago, many are still interested in the question of how to make a mill for a summer residence with their own hands without much effort. Today we will cover this topic in as much detail as possible.

First of all, it is worth talking in general about what is needed in the country windmill Today? After all, most likely no one will decide to use it in order to grind prepared millet into flour on a daily basis.

In addition, today the cultivation of millet is already more of an occupation for professional farmers, because their production is mainly responsible for exclusively modern technology.

However, a do-it-yourself decorative mill, which will be installed in the future in the country, has not bothered anyone yet.

Why do we need a windmill today?

Before you decide to choose a place where a windmill created by yourself will be installed in the future, you should definitely keep in mind that the structure may have a different purpose.

First, a homemade windmill can hide some of the least pretty places in your home, like a manhole.

Secondly, most of the mills, which, in principle, can be made without problems on their own, are quite simply made of lightweight materials, which makes it possible to significantly reduce their size.

For this reason, this type of structure is in most cases used as protective caps necessary for various types engineering objects.

Thirdly, many hosts country houses decide to turn the blueprints of the windmill into real life to the playhouse for their children. True, this requires a slightly enlarged design, but there is definitely nothing possible.

The main thing you should pay attention to is that it is as stable as possible and with an open entrance.

Of course, having decided to nevertheless make a mill for the garden, it will be possible to subsequently find a huge number of a wide variety of applications for it, as a component of modern landscape design.

Choosing and preparing a site for a new mill

The construction of a windmill is a rather crucial moment. It is important to pay attention to whole line enough important factors in order to achieve a really beautiful design.

Ideally, this should be an open space, since the blades will actively and non-stop rotate, and besides, it is much easier to assemble a massive structure in an open area, because absolutely nothing will interfere.

After completing the issue with the choice of location, it is necessary to remove all stumps and bushes that may interfere. By the way, if the grass is tall enough, then it is even desirable to cut it. The ground before starting the installation of the structure must be carefully leveled.

Create a plan

The easiest way to understand from the photo of the mill in the country is how exactly the structure should be built.

You need to do the following:

  • Draw a sketch of the future layout;
  • Using the drawing, calculate what size each of the parts for the future mill will be;
  • Choose the best material for yourself, which will later be used to create all structural elements.

It is believed that one of the most financially advantageous materials is pine, since everyone can afford it, and at the same time it is endowed with fairly good performance.

Note!

After completing all the questions with the drawing and, accordingly, the plan, then you can proceed to the process of direct assembly. In order for the mill to look really beautiful, you can decorate it. This will give the object a finished look.

It is important to note that if wooden elements were not well processed, it is advisable to use paint for decoration.

Of course, anyone can make a mill on their own. The most important thing is to think over the first stage in detail and draw the correct markup, as well as choose the ideal place in your opinion in the future.

In addition, you need to decide in advance what qualities you want to endow your building with.

Note!

Hi Hi!
Today we'll talk a bit about scrap!
I really love jewelry codenamed "windmill".
They are very easy to make, you can make any right size, any color. What is convenient in scrap, you can take paper that perfectly suits the product, from the same collection as the paper in the product itself, for example. And to make such a simple, but at the same time spectacular decoration 🙂 I most often do something baby, but here it is a real find!
I want to tell how I do them, maybe it will be useful to someone.
I also want to draw attention to the fact that you can use them in any way you like. There is only one limit - our imagination 😉
For example, you can use it as a decoration flower pots.
Or for example on children's day birthday party or party can make windmills different sizes, large can serve decorative ornaments, decorate a cake less or, for example, cocktails.
And once I made such windmills to decorate the windows of one of the MEGA Kazan stores 🙂 I used squares 30 * 30 cm, pretty big. In general, anywhere and at your convenience!

So let's get started. For clarity, I made a video, where I also showed how I decorated the sticks on which my windmills for the showcase were held.

We need cardboard, double-sided or single-sided, I use designer paper for scrapbooking, the thickness is suitable.

Here you can see the second side :) I chose the top paper.

I cut off a square from my strip. The side of the square is 5 cm.

You need to draw invisible lines along the diagonals, I draw with the help of a creasing stick. You can also use a knitting needle or crochet hook. Or ballpoint pen that has run out of ink. If you look closely you can see the lines on my square.

Along the lines from the corners to the center, you need to cut, not reaching the center 1-1.5 cm.

Each corner is now divided into two parts. It is necessary to make holes in the center and in one of the halves of each corner.

Now you need to decide in which direction we will bend part of the corners with holes. Usually the color or pattern on the two sides of the paper is different, so you need to decide which way to bend. In order for the folds to be soft, without creases, I soften the paper with an awl.

We select the appropriate color brats.

And we begin to thread the brother into each corner with a hole, and lastly into the center. Fix it brother.

And today we will learn how to make a toy windmill with our own hands. Children of the elder preschool age already know how to take care of their creations, so it’s quite possible to entrust them with paper and cardboard crafts in the game. Our do-it-yourself windmill craft is made from just these materials.

For the manufacture of diy windmill we will need:

Thick cardboard, paper (white, you can use printer paper);

A couple of unnecessary felt-tip pens;

Skewers for barbecue (for making blades);

Watercolor paints (for coloring the details of the toy windmill);

PVA glue;

Hot glue.

DIY windmill description:

1. Our toy windmill has the shape of a cylinder, so the first thing we do is glue the cardboard cylinder with PVA glue.

2. We glue the cylinder with white paper and glue it to the "ground" (a sheet of very thick cardboard from some box).

3. We paint the base of our windmill craft with brown paint. This can be entrusted to make the child even the most early age. The paint that hits the cardboard "ground" is then covered with a white sheet. The child himself or with your help, after the brown paint has dried, draws a door and a window.

4. In the middle of the white sheet (it should be larger than the cardboard earth in area), carefully cut out a circle whose diameter is equal to the diameter of the mill cylinder. Then we give this sheet for coloring to the child. He can, in addition to green grass, draw flowers, paths, etc.

5. After drying, we put our "lawn" on the cylinder and glue it to the ground base, turning the edges.

Now let's start making the roof of the crafts of the mill with our own hands:

6. We glue a truncated cone from cardboard, glue it on top with a cone of white paper, wrap the tip of the cone inside the roof. Now do it carefully through hole in the roof. Sending the roof in for painting.

The top of the roof can simply be closed with a colored circle of paper and cardboard, or you can decorate the roof as in the photo:

It remains to make the blades.

7. Cut the marker to desired length, closer to one of the ends we make two through holes, perpendicular to each other. Insert one skewer into each hole.

8. We cut a lot of short pieces of skewers and use a thermal gun to attach them to the blades, as in the photo:

Pay attention to the slope of the blades, and also that one of the two guides of each blade does not pass through the felt-tip pen tube, it is held on by glue.

9. So that the tube does not fall into the hole in the roof, and the blades can spin, in front of the hole in the roof, we put on a cap (a cut from the felt-tip pen cap) of a slightly larger diameter.

All! The mill is ready!

Thank you for your attention,

your Anastasia.

Each owner of a personal plot has a desire to make their possessions more attractive. Some people like functional buildings, such as bathhouses, gazebos, sports grounds, etc. Others prefer decorative items along with a mass of green vegetation. There are those who manage to harmoniously combine functional and decorative buildings with green vegetation. There are quite a few decorative elements that can be entered into the landscape. In this article, we will talk about how a do-it-yourself decorative mill for a garden is made.

Those times when on the site near the house there were only flat beds, lawns and orchards are already far behind. Today, as a rule, dachas are used for friendly gatherings, as creative workshops and for family vacations.

A wooden decorative windmill can complement a simple landscape made in rustic style. This design can be combined with decorative well semi-antique and funny figurines of animals or fairy-tale characters, such as gnomes.

The false mill is designed to decorate the territory near the house, but some craftsmen build a functional structure. For example, you can make a country toilet in the form of a mill, a small barn or an entrance to the cellar. Another option is a children's playhouse in the shape of a windmill or a doghouse for a guard dog.

Also, with a simple design, you can hide unsightly elements of the landscape, such as a faucet for watering the garden, a septic tank hatch, a ventilation pipe from the cellar.

You can make a small decorative mill with virtually no investment if you have some materials left from construction - timber, plywood, fasteners, varnish and paint.

When choosing a size, it is important to consider the size of the site, financial capabilities and personal preferences. mills large sizes look great on overall hilly and multi-level areas with a beautifully designed landscape. On a hill, small structures look good.

If you make a larger false mill, then inside it you can organize a dining room, a gazebo or summer kitchen. But to realize this idea is possible only on a large-scale site. In a small area, such a large building will look ridiculous.

If you think about building a small mill, then it can also be useful. For example, equipping it drawers, you can plant flower beds with different varieties of plants in them. Planning to build a pond? In this case, make a mill on it, which, in combination, can serve as a place to store equipment for caring for a pond, as well as fishing rods.

In fact, a fake mill can be made from any material that is on your personal plot. Modern technologies allow you to decorate any construction material. For the construction of this small-sized structure, even broken brick, which at the end of the construction process is simply decorated with a decorative stone.

Traditionally, mills are made of wood. It is inexpensive, easy to process and presentable material. Its only drawback is instability to weather conditions. In view of this, the wooden structure will need to be regularly painted, and hidden in a barn for the winter, which implies the manufacture of a mobile mill. In this article, two technologies for making a false mill will be considered: from wood and stone.

So, before you make a classic wooden decorative mill, you need to purchase:

  • Wooden beam with a section of 20 × 20 mm.
  • Wooden lath for the manufacture of blades.
  • Self-tapping wood screws 25 mm long.
  • Paint (color depends only on your preferences).
  • Moisture-resistant plywood, which will be sheathed frame.
  • Electric jigsaw.
  • Screwdriver.
  • Tassels.
  • Bits for tightening self-tapping screws.
  • Roulette and level.

To build a stone mill, you will need:

  1. Brick or other block material from which a false mill will be formed.
  2. Sand and cement for mixing mortar.
  3. cut natural stone or tiles for cladding.
  4. Sheet iron/plastic for making wind blades.

Of the tools you will need:

  • Putty knife.
  • Master OK.
  • Mixer for mixing the solution.
  • Bucket and shovel.
  • Bulgarian for trimming facing material and blade cutting.
  • Roulette and level.

It should be noted right away that it is much easier to build a decorative windmill than its wooden counterpart. To assemble the latter, you will most likely have to use blueprints. The entire construction process consists of several stages.

It would be unwise to build a stone structure without a foundation, because in this case it will simply collapse soon. So, you need to cast a shallow base in the soil, approximately 40 × 40 cm. The depth of the foundation is 1-2 bayonets of a shovel.

First, dig a hole, lay reinforcement in it and fill it with concrete. Then the foundation must dry, this will take several days.

Building a house

The dimensions, proportions and shape of the house depend entirely on your imagination and wishes. The main thing is that the size of the foundation matches the base of the mill. The structure must be level with respect to the level. Bandaging of pebbles should be as close as possible to the actual size.

In the upper part of the house, you need to wall in a threaded stud, on which the blades will subsequently be installed. Weld a plate onto the stud, with which it will be hooked to the masonry.

You can also install the stud at the end of the construction process, but in this case you will have to drill a hole under it in the house. And these activities can lead to a violation of the masonry.

To make the building look as realistic as possible, you need to cut the tiles in the shape of bricks. The tile in this case is laid in the usual way.

When laying tiles, it is important that no voids form in the adhesive.

As for the choice of glue, it is better to purchase a frost-resistant composition. It can be Cerezit CM 17 and CM 117.

Propeller manufacturing

To make a propeller, you need to cut a circle of plywood in which a hole is made equal to the diameter of the stud. Then attach pre-prepared blades from the rail to this disk. Install them on the stud and tighten with nuts and washers on both sides.

Before installing the propeller wooden slats should be treated with special impregnations and antiseptics, and then painted.

A wood mill consists of 4 main components:

  • lightweight foundation;
  • support platform;
  • frame;
  • blades.

To begin with, it is important to think over the foundation of the structure. Then you can proceed to the manufacture of the remaining elements of the mill, which must be made separately, and then connected.

Foundation. Is it necessary

The simplest option is a metal bar, poured into concrete underground to a depth of two shovel bayonets. Subsequently, a decorative structure will be installed on this bar.

A mill set on such a base cannot be stolen. But if there are no prerequisites to worry about security, then wooden legs with plastic tips. That is, there is no need to fill the foundation at all.

As the tips of the mill on legs can act pvc pipes the corresponding diameter. Fastening plastic and wood is as easy as shelling pears - use self-tapping screws for this.

support platform

Initially, the lower part of the mill is made - the platform. It must have sufficient stability to withstand the load of the entire structure.

The higher the mill, the wider its base should be.

For these purposes, you can use boards that are 15 cm wide and 20 mm thick. As a material for the platform, it is best to use lining. If we are talking about building a gazebo in the form of a mill, then you should fill in a lightweight version of a strip, columnar or monolithic foundation.

Consider the manufacture of a wooden mill using the example of a structure that adorns a garden up to 2 m high. To build it, you will need a 60 × 60 cm platform. It is important that it does not warp during the manufacturing process.

The finished platform can be laid on a pre-prepared foundation, special legs or a sand cushion covered with roofing material. Be that as it may, before installing the mill platform, treat it with antiseptics to prevent rotting of the material. In addition, it should be covered with weatherproof paint or varnish.

Drill small holes in the platform so that when it rains, water does not linger on it.

To make the mill body, you need to take 4 beams with a section of 40x40 mm and 4 beams with a section of 25x25 mm. First, you should assemble a pyramid from thicker bars, fastening them with self-tapping screws. The same must be done with thin elements. So, you will get the body of the mill. It must be strictly vertical, which can be controlled using the building level.

No building is complete unless a roof is made for it. The decorative windmill is no exception. For her to do gable roof, consisting of two parts in the form of an isosceles triangle. The size of the slopes is 30 × 30 cm, and the base is 35 cm.

Skates can be made from chipboard or plywood. The size of the sides may not correspond to the above parameters, the main thing is that the roof is in harmony with the frame.

The slopes should be connected with slats on the sides and top. As a result, you should get a three-dimensional triangle. Now is the time to fix the roof to the frame by screwing the rails with self-tapping screws.

The next step is to make a hole in the front slope of the roof. Then assemble the blades. To do this, lay out 2 slats crosswise. Make a through hole in the center of the cross, it should be equal to the diameter of the hole in the roof.

Pass the bolt through the hole in the cross and through the hole in the roof. Then secure it with washers on both sides.

Now take the prepared blade rails and small nails and carefully nail them onto the 4 sides of the roof mounted blades.

The shape of the blades can be arbitrary. Traditionally, a trapezoid and rectangular figure is used.

Sheathe the sides of the roof with clapboard. This can be done vertically and horizontally. There is no fundamental difference, it all depends on your preferences. It is possible to sheathe the sides of the roof with more durable material, for example, galvanized sheets.

After fixing the frame, trim the walls with clapboard vertically. To make the mill more interesting, make windows in it, a door and a small balcony in which you can plant flowers.

To spend decorative trim paint, tinted/clear varnishes, etc. should be used. To preserve natural structure wood, the surface can be opened with a transparent varnish.

It is best to use an alkyd-based weatherproof varnish. It can be PF-170 or Yacht varnish.

In order to make the wood darker, thus imitating noble species, you can use stain. In such a simple way, from affordable pine you will get a mill for cherry, walnut, ash or oak. With each layer the surface will look darker.

To improve the aesthetic characteristics of the mill, attach platbands or ordinary moldings to it. By painting them in a color that contrasts with the base, you will make the design more spectacular. The dark brown body with yellow moldings is very nicely combined.

Another option for decorating the mill is to install lighting. For example, you can put LED flashlights inside to provide additional lighting in the evening. The most harmonious lighting looks in decorative windmills with small windows. No windows? No problem. Install LED backlight around the perimeter of the roof.

Would you like to mark the windmill on the territory near the house? Then make a flower garden around it. To prevent the structure from getting lost in the thickets of plants, plant only creeping ground cover crops.

Whatever type of mill you choose, either wooden or stone, if you follow the instructions in the article, you will really be able to beautifully decorate the area around the house. Do you have questions about the topic? In this case, write comments to the article.

Melnitsa-iz-gazet

Newspaper tubes are a fertile material for crafts with children. creative pursuits with them not only develop fine motor skills hands, teach accuracy and patience, but also stimulate the development of imagination and design skills. We bring to your attention a master class on creating a windmill from newspaper tubes, specially adapted for children (preschoolers and younger students), without difficult steps and ingenious techniques.

What you need to prepare for work:

  • newspaper tubes (we told how to make them quickly and easily with the children);
  • thick opaque paints (gouache, acrylic);
  • 2 brushes, thin and thick;
  • glue stick;
  • scissors;
  • cardboard (any color, not glossy);
  • pointed skewer;
  • stationery gum;
  • green tinted (or plain double-sided) paper;
  • large stapler;
  • some brown cardboard and brown foam rubber;
  • a square piece of corrugated cardboard, laminate, or any other solid base for crafts;
  • coarse hemp thread or thin twine for decoration;
  • paper tape.

Step 1: make a house from newspaper tubes

First, we make the base of the mill house out of cardboard. To do this, cut out a rectangle and glue it along one edge - we get the base cylindrical shape. We also cut out a circle, make a cut from any edge to the center of the circle and glue it - we get a cone for the roof. For strength, the bonding points can be additionally fixed with a stapler. It is not yet necessary to connect the cylinder and cone to each other.

Then we glue the cylinder with newspaper tubes. This is much easier to do if you insert a bottle of a suitable diameter inside it. It is most convenient to apply glue to each tube and carefully place them one by one on a cardboard blank, waiting for the previous tube to stick a little.

The glue should be sticky enough (Informat and Brauberg brands came up to us). Having covered the entire cone with tubes, let it dry.

Then paint with brown acrylic paint.

Now let's take a look at the roof of the mill house. You can pre-paint the cone, but you can not do this. We cut the bunch of tubes in half, put them together and tightly tie them with a rubber band, stepping back about 1.5-2 cm from the edge.

We fluff the tubes in different directions and put the resulting “cap” on the cone. If everything turned out well, apply glue to the surface of the cone and glue a “cap” on it.

Of course, there will be many passes on the roof and empty seats. We fill them with segments of tubes.

It should turn out like this:

We paint the roof and let it dry.

Now you need to connect the roof and the base of the millhouse together. To do this, glue inner surface cone and cylinder with long strips of adhesive tape, fastening them together.

Step 2: make a windmill for a windmill from newspaper tubes

The windmill is very easy to make. We take 4 newspaper sticks of the same length (their length is about 20 cm in the photo), fold it as shown in the photo, and fasten it with several stapler staples.

Glue short tubes at the ends of the blades.

We paint the windmill.

In addition to the windmill itself, you need to think over the system for attaching it to the mill, because we want its blades to rotate like real ones. To do this, take a pointed skewer and carefully pierce the roof of the house through and through. You can use an awl for this. We break off the excess part of the skewer. We put on the pointed end in sequence: a circle of foam rubber with a diameter of about 1.8 cm, then a cardboard circle with a diameter of 2 cm. Then we glue the protruding tip with another circle of soft rubber with a diameter of a little more than 1 cm. Like this:

On the other end of the skewers, we simply prick 1-2 circles of foam rubber. Thus, the windmill will be well fixed, and the wand will definitely not prick anyone.

Step 3: connect all the parts together and decorate the craft beautifully

The mill itself is almost ready. We make a “forged” door for it, and wrap the elastic band on the roof with a thick layer of hemp thread. The base of the craft (corrugated cardboard, plywood, a piece of laminate, etc.) is pasted over with green colored paper.

We make weaving. To do this, we cut several tubes from one edge, unbend the edges and glue the posts onto a strip of cardboard. We made a wattle fence with a slightly curved shape.

Then we glue the resulting wattle fence to the base, and fix the house on it. We paint the wattle fence, braid it with a hemp rope, cut “noodles” from green tinted paper, imitating grass, and also glue it here and there on our composition. The mill from newspaper tubes and cardboard is ready.
