2. Fix on the machine a plate of the material from which the product should be made; the machine independently cuts it into individual parts based on the cutting charts.

The production of furniture from fiberboard involves the end of the preparatory work and the beginning of the assembly of parts. If materials such as chipboard or laminated chipboard are used for the production of furniture, then the sawn edges of the rough blanks must be machined without fail.

3. Furniture elements made of chipboard are sent to an edge banding machine, on which, with the help of glue and a pressure press, the slices of the boards are faced, using a laminated edge for this, pvc film, melamine or other edging materials.

4. There are two options for making holes for fasteners, which depend on the configuration of the machine:

  • semi-automatic, if we are talking about a filler machine;
  • manual, in which holes are made with punchers and electric drills, using drawings with additive schemes.

5. At the end of the addition of holes, the edges of the workpieces are ground (for smoothing, removing edging material in height and length), and then sent for assembly.

6. During the control assembly using a hand tool, shortcomings and inconsistencies are identified and eliminated. Then the finished products are dismantled (if necessary), packaged and sent to the finished product warehouses.

The volume of upholstered furniture in the specialized market is approximately 15%. Its production is a rather attractive niche, in particular, if we talk about small and medium-sized businesses.

We will analyze the technology for the production of upholstered furniture using the example of manufacturing the most demanded and at the same time difficult in terms of execution product of this group - a sofa. We will consider a sofa bed, which assumes the presence of a special transformation mechanism. In this it differs from such furnishings as armchairs, chairs, etc.

The structure of all sofas is generally the same, they consist of:

  • Frame - the main structural element to which other parts of the sofa are attached. The strength characteristics during operation depend on it, this is the base part to which the remaining components are attached, which form the appearance and give softness.
  • Elements of elasticity (they can be represented by soft fillers and spring blocks).
  • Transformation mechanism.
  • Covers with upholstery fabric.

The production technology of this type of furniture is as follows:

1. Wooden blanks are cut out of plywood and boards in the carpentry shop, from which the frame of the future sofa (or other piece of upholstered furniture) is then assembled.

The preparation includes the following steps:

  • cutting lumber (plywood) along the length using a trimming machine;
  • cut plywood in width using a circular saw;
  • grinding the resulting part using a four-sided machine, cutting spikes and lugs on a tenoning machine;
  • cutting out internal parts from sheets of fiberboard or chipboard, for this a hand-held power tool is used;
  • fastening of the transforming mechanism (used in the production of folding sofas);
  • base frame assembly.

2. The direction of the finished frames to the upholstery shop for pasting with foam rubber and shelling with upholstery material. First of all, the wooden base is pasted over with a special nonwoven fabric- darnit. This is necessary so that during the operation of finished products they do not knock or creak.

3. Further, the technology of furniture production involves the installation of elements of elasticity (softness) - spring blocks that perform orthopedic functions. Their fixation is carried out evenly over the entire surface area of ​​the product and in its central part.

4. This is followed by pasting the perimeter of the blocks with foam rubber, this eliminates the possibility of contact with a rigid frame.

5. From above, the spring block is glued with a dense woven material, which prevents abrasion of the upper layer of the gasket material on the spring block.

6. In most cases, spangon, foam rubber or coconut coir are used as a cushioning material.

Spangon and foam rubber (secondary foaming) are more budget options, but keep in mind that two years active use the sofa will lead to its subsidence and failure.

Coconut coir can be called a tougher and more durable material that can last about 7-8 years.

7. The next element of softness is laid on top of the cushioning material - foam rubber, the height of which is 40 mm, the density is 35-42. Foam rubber and upholstery material are laid between themselves with a padding polyester, which makes the foam rubber breathable.

8. The equipment of the sewing workshop allows you to work with a wide variety of finishes - from faux fur to genuine leather. In the sewing shop, the upholstery fabric for future sofas is cut, and then in the upholstery shop, it is adjusted to the multilayer base.

9. The sewing workshop is used for sewing covers for certain elements of upholstered furniture (pillows, backrests, armrests, seats). They are put on a base frame, to which a soft filler (foam rubber or synthetic winterizer) is attached.

10. Then a control assembly and final design of the product is carried out, after which the finished sofa is packed using polyethylene and cardboard, and sent to the warehouses of finished products.
