Today, craftsmen offer a lot interesting options making cute options from improvised materials. Making an ottoman with your own hands is not a difficult job, but very exciting, besides, a thing created by your own hands radiates special warmth and has an aura of home comfort.

Plastic bottles as a basis for a pouffe

If you do not have the desire to cut out, cut out the base for the pouffe, then you can use for this purpose plastic bottles, which are available in any home in unlimited quantities.

Important! The color of the bottles in the finished product does not matter - you can use any bottles of beer or water with a volume of 1.5-2 liters.

To make a high-quality and stable ottoman, you will need:

  • 16 bottles of 1.5 liters or 9 bottles of 2 liters. Use bottles with caps

Important! From round bottles you can create a large circle, square or rectangle. Choose the shape of the product according to your desire and preference.

  • Packaging cardboard. Any cardboard from household appliances, which has not been thrown away for years, can be used to make a pouffe.
  • Scotch.
  • Foam rubber.
  • Upholstery. The fabric must be durable and of high quality so that it can be wiped, cleaned and washed. You can use leather or furniture fabric, which is sold in a specialized store.
  • Hot glue gun.
  • Zipper for cover.
  • Scissors.

Important! If you are planning to create a large ottoman that will serve as a table or chair, then for the convenience of manufacturing the bottles, connect them into separate sectors and sections, fixing them with adhesive tape, and then begin to form the overall design.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Take bottles with tightly closed lids and connect them to each other with adhesive tape. If the future product will have a round shape, then start connecting the bottles from the middle: take one bottle and, moving along the radius, attach new elements to it with tape.
  2. After completing the circle, cut out two circles of the same diameter from cardboard, which should be slightly larger than the bottle design. This will be the top and bottom of the base.
  3. Tape the cardboard tightly to the plastic structure with tape. The frame for the pouffe is ready.
  4. Cut out 3 blanks from foam rubber: 2 circles of the same diameter and 1 rectangle, which will wrap vertically around the frame.
  5. Fasten the workpieces with construction stapler or thread.
  6. Sew a cover for an ottoman with your own hands from furniture fabric.

Important! It is better to make a cover with a zipper, so that later it can be easily removed and washed. You can sew several options for covers and update appearance products from time to time.

  • Cardboard boxes can also be used for the frame. The main thing is that they should not be damaged. Instead of foam rubber, you can use a synthetic winterizer, insulation or several layers of dense fabric.
  • If you plan to use the ottoman for personal needs, then use a thick fabric to make the cover, and process the seams with a border. For a children's ottoman, use a brighter, more colorful fabric, as well as a denser layer of foam rubber. Add an additional functional element in the form of a strap to the finished product, which will make it easier to carry. The child will be happy to carry such a pouf with him as a toy.

  • Thick jute rope.
  • stapler.
  • Hot glue gun.
  • Scissors.
  • Cardboard or thin plywood.
  • Upholstery fabric.
  • Microfiber (several new cloths).
  • Velcro tape.
  • A large button or handle from a furniture cabinet.

Step-by-step instruction:

  • Wash the bucket, remove the metal handle from it.

  • Put the bottom of the blank on the cardboard, circle it.
  • Cut out the circle according to the outlined pattern.
  • Lay out the template on the upholstery fabric, cut out the blank with an allowance of 5-10 cm.
  • Connect the fabric and cardboard. Make a hole in the center, thread a bolt from the furniture handle through the cardboard and fabric. Screw the knob onto the bolt. If you use a large button, then connect the fabric with the cardboard in the middle with it.
  • Roll the microfiber into a tube, wrap the bolt radially between the cardboard and the fabric, creating a kind of roll. Fix the microfiber securely with glue so that it does not unwind.
  • Stretch the upholstery fabric, secure it on the back with a stapler.
  • close reverse side seat with another piece of fabric, put it on the glue to hide the traces of cardboard.
  • Cut the Velcro into 4 equal pieces, stick them on the bottom of the bucket and the base crosswise.

Important! The fluffy part of the Velcro should be facing the seat, and the bristles should be facing the bucket.

  • Connect the cover and base.

Do-it-yourself ottoman is ready and now you can sit on it comfortably!

  • Glue.
  • Upholstery fabric.
  • stapler.
  • Self-tapping screws.

Pre-strengthen the structure of the old stool with self-tapping screws and proceed as follows:

  1. Shorten the legs of the stool a little. Check the work with a level so that the product does not subsequently stagger.
  2. Attach 4 sheets of plywood to the stool legs with self-tapping screws.
  3. Screw the fifth sheet of plywood on the bottom. This will be the bottom of the future crafts.
  4. Cut out the foam for the seat with an allowance of 5 cm.
  5. Coat the top of the pouffe with glue so that the foam does not stray into a lump.
  6. Attach the upholstery fabric along with the foam using a stapler.
  7. Decorate the rest of the structure with a fabric, fix it with staples.
  8. Screw the wheels (optional) or legs.

Important! The foam rubber on the sides can be attached with slats to give the design a round shape and make the ottoman more beautiful.

How to sew a pouf?

If you like to sew, then you can do soft ottoman do-it-yourself at home, not only from colorful fabric, but also from old clothes. Any sweater can turn into a very noticeable and comfortable piece of furniture. The main thing is desire and imagination.

Option number 1. Simple fabric pouffe

If you don’t have time to fiddle with patterns, then use a simple way to make an original piece of furniture:

  • Cut out 2 circles from the fabric with the corresponding diameters of the bottom and top of the product and allowances for the seams.
  • Cut out 2 rectangular pieces of the same size. The width of the rectangles should be equal to the height of the pouffe, and the length should be half the circumference of the upper and lower parts of the product.
  • Sew the rectangular parts along the width on one side to make a long ribbon.
  • Sweep the resulting tape and circles. Stitch circles along the seam. If the seam is not even enough, close it with a decorative border.
  • Fill the finished case with any suitable material.

Important! For internal filling pouf, use foam rubber or synthetic winterizer. These materials hold their shape perfectly and do not deform.

  • Sew the zipper into the open edges of the rectangular ribbon.

Important! Make a hole for the stuffing material at the bottom so that it is not noticeable. Optionally, you can sew it tightly or sew a zipper into the hole to be able to change the material if necessary.

You can make a pouffe in the shape of a cube. Details for the product must be square in shape. On the sides you will need 4 parts, and on the base and bottom - 2. Stitch the parts to each other, and to clearly mark the edges of the cube, use a canvas in a contrasting color.

Important! For the manufacture of the cube, use a denser fabric to give the product strength and elasticity.

Option number 2. Multicolour fabric pouffe

Sewing a bright piece of furniture is not difficult at all. For work you will need:

  • Fabric in different colors.
  • Lining fabric.
  • Large buttons (2 pieces).
  • Filler.
  • Needle with threads.
  • Sewing machine.

The process of making a bright masterpiece is quite simple:

  1. Draw a circle on paper right size(such as the pouf you want to get). Divide it into 12 parts. If you have fewer flowers, you can divide the circle into 6-10 parts.
  2. Attach the finished patterns to the fabric, cut out triangular blanks with a small margin for seams.
  3. Cut out the lining fabric in the same way.
  4. Grab the petals of the circle with threads, and then sew them on a typewriter. You should get two round bases - upper and lower. Sew the bases from the inside out, leaving one piece unsewn.
  5. Unscrew the cover, place the filler inside it.
  6. Carefully sew the last piece. Close the sewing place with large buttons.

Important! In order not to spend money on buying new fabric, use shreds from old clothes.

If you like to crochet or knit, you can make a soft frameless ottoman with your own hands:

  • For work, you will need the most thick knitting needles with a diameter of 9 mm and fairly thick wool. You can also use cotton ropes (20-30 pieces).
  • Tie them into a long rectangle.
  • Fasten the side of the workpiece with a rope to make a spacious skirt, and pull the bottom with the same rope to make a bag.

Important! To fill the bag, you can use old things or purchase foam rubber (holofiber).

Option number 3. Furniture from an old sweater

To make an original piece of furniture, you will need:

  • Old sweater.
  • Scissors.
  • Needle and thread.
  • Felt.
  • Lining fabric for the cover.
  • Stuffing material.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Cut out the bottom of the felt for a round or square ottoman. This element will serve as the primary blank.
  2. Take a sweater, turn the sleeves inside out.
  3. Sew the remaining hole with an even seam.
  4. Stitch a piece of felt to the bottom of the sweater to make a pouch.
  5. Prepare a cover for stuffing from the lining fabric. If the primary felt blank is round, then you will need a piece of fabric in the form of a rectangle, for example, with a length of 70 cm and a width of 50 cm. If you decide to make a square ottoman, then calculate the required dimensions for four parts.
  6. Sew all the details together and leave a hem at the top for the lace, which will tighten the hole after filling the cover with material.
  7. Place the cover inside the sweater.
  8. Fill the case with material. Pull the string as tight as possible.
  9. Straighten your sweater, enjoy your new piece of furniture.

Option number 4. Ottoman-ball

If you do not know how to make a round ottoman with your own hands to decorate a children's room, then this option is for you. To do children's ottoman do it yourself, prepare the following materials:

  • Fabric with a high density of two colors.
  • Paper for making patterns.
  • Scissors.
  • Needle and thread.
  • Sewing machine.
  • Polyethylene.
  • Silicone filler in the form of balls.

The process of creating an ottoman ball is as follows:

  1. Make a pattern on paper, observing the required dimensions. You can use any round piece of furniture to create a pattern, for example, a lampshade table lamp or a big ball. Measure its circumference, and divide the result in half. Divide the number into 5 parts so that the 3 middle and 2 extreme are the same size. As a result, you will get the diameter of the base in the form of a circle and the width of the stripes that make up the spherical cover of the pouffe.
  2. Transfer the resulting markup to the item of your choice, starting with the part in the form of a circle. Draw the next line below, along the pre-calculated bandwidth.
  3. Cut the plastic bag along one side and cut off the bottom. Lay out the bag on the marks of the first strip, and secure the edges with tape. Transfer a quarter of the strip to the bag and cut it out. Similarly, prepare the part of the middle strip.
  4. Transfer all the details to graph paper, cut out the details of the ottoman from the fabric of two colors, leaving 1 cm for the seams.
  5. Sew the strips, leaving one side unsewn.
  6. Attach one strip to the round piece. The ends of the strip should converge. Stitch them and connect the base with a strip of seams, stepping back 1 cm from the edge.
  7. Sew a similar blank for the opposite side of the cover. Stitch the workpiece to the middle strip. Do not sew up the ends of the middle strip.
  8. Stitch the second semicircular blank with middle lane. Iron the seams.
  9. Fill the case with silicone balls, and to make the shape elastic, add small pieces of foam rubber.
  10. Sew up the hole with a hidden seam.

What can you make an ottoman with your own hands?

Above, we told you how to make ottomans with your own hands, a master class for each product option will help you realize your plan. However, it is impossible to fit all the materials for the manufacture of an original piece of furniture into the framework of one article, since there are a huge number of items around that are suitable for creating a masterpiece, such as these.

Tires

A wonderful do-it-yourself ottoman from tires can be put at home, on the veranda personal plot or right in the country, replacing expensive rattan furniture with almost free.

To make practical furniture, it is enough to cut two circles from plywood and attach them to the top and bottom of the tire. Then - fix the bases with self-tapping screws and decorate the entire workpiece with twine. To make the ottoman a little higher, you can screw two legs.

Important! Using 2 car tires and a sheet of bending plywood, you can make a chair with a back.

Plywood and vinyl

Sheets of plywood with dimensions of 45x45 and cuts of 45 degrees are used to make the frame. Vinyl is cut out according to the size of the plywood with a margin of 2-3 cm. Put a soft cloth and not thick foam rubber on top of the vinyl, close the entire structure plywood sheet. Bend the vinyl upholstery and secure with a stapler. To fix the frame, use metal corners and self-tapping screws.

Important! Decorate vinyl trim can be decorative carnations. Lay the tracing paper pattern onto the vinyl and create an interesting pattern with studs. The paper is easily removed, as a result - it turns out beautiful ottoman from plywood with an original pattern.

Artificial fur

The fluffy material can be used to make a seat or to create an entire product.

plastic pipes

Making a pouffe plumbing pipes as follows:

  1. First you need to cut the pipes into pieces 30 cm long (about 9 pieces), then paint the pipes acrylic paint in several layers and treated with a protective varnish.
  2. After drying, the pipes must be fastened with an adhesive gun.
  3. Polyurethane bathroom mats can be used for the seat. Fold them in half and make cuts along the perforations (the length of the cuts is 5 cm). Fold the rug to make a bud and insert the rolls into the pipes. The buds should enter tightly, then no additional fastening is required.

Important! When making a pouffe, pay attention to the floor in the room:

  • Since the laminate is very sensitive to any mechanical stress, it is better to make a pouffe without wheels and legs for such a coating.
  • We hope that after reading our article, you have chosen for yourself suitable option making an original, functional piece of furniture and decorating the interior of the house with it. Now in soft homemade ottoman or an armchair you can relax, watch TV, read, or you can place an ottoman in the corridor and it is convenient to take off your shoes on it. And most importantly - in the manufacture of your masterpiece, you used unnecessary things and materials, while spending a minimum of money!

As an interior item, ottomans began to be used in the east of Europe. There it was used instead of a soft stool, which was placed at the foot of the bed. So, the usual box for storing things is considered the progenitor of the ottoman. Over the years, it has decreased in volume and become more mobile.

You can buy it in almost any furniture store. But, if you prefer not to throw money away and like to make crafts, then we suggest you make your own ottoman with your own hands. For this we have prepared step by step instructions for the manufacture of various models.

While most of furniture is quite complex in design and it can only be built experienced master, the ottoman is quite the opposite, it is not difficult to do it yourself, and with the help of improvised means.

You may be thinking: “Why so many worries, if everything can be bought today?”. However, it is far from always possible to choose exactly the ottoman that fits perfectly into the interior, matches the color of textiles, wallpaper and beds. In addition, handmade things have a special energy and bring warmth and comfort to the house.

The main thing in the design of the ottoman is its basis. Here you can save a lot of money, because anything acts as a frame: elements of unnecessary furniture, plastic bottles, tires, boxes and even buckets. It must be understood that the frame material must be strong so that it can support the weight of the body.

If you want to get a practical thing that will serve you faithfully for more than one year, then carefully consider the selection of fabric for covering. It should be sufficiently durable textile that can be cleaned or washed with a sponge and soap solution. The ideal option there will be furniture fabric, it can be found in a specialized store.

Guide to action

Making an ottoman from plastic bottles

If you do not have the desire or certain skills to fiddle with boards or screws, then we offer you a simple option on how to build a do-it-yourself ottoman from plastic bottles.

Helpful Hint: Put them in the fridge overnight or close them on the balcony in winter. Then abruptly change the temperature, for example, put them near the battery. The air cooled in them will expand, and then the bottles will take an even shape and become very dense.

So, you will need:

  • Bottles with a volume of 1.5-2 liters (about 40 bottles);
  • Cardboard;
  • Foam rubber;
  • Scotch;
  • Upholstery fabric.

You can choose the shape of your masterpiece yourself. It can be a circle, square, rectangle. Everything will depend only on your imagination and the availability of a sufficient number of bottles. By the way, for greater convenience, they can first be connected into separate sections with adhesive tape, and then form a common structure.

In the event that the product is round, then it is better to start making it from the middle.

  1. We take a bottle and, moving along the radius, we fasten new elements, carefully screwing them with tape.
  2. When the circle is completed, we proceed to cutting out the base from thick cardboard. The circle that you will glue to the bottom should be slightly larger than the actual size of the blank made from bottles. It would be nice if instead of the usual stationery cardboard you take a dense packaging one, for this you can use a box from office equipment.
  3. The cardboard is also attached to the base of the bottles with several layers of adhesive tape. And, do not forget to cook two bottoms at once.
  4. Now you can proceed to the soft upholstery of our product. We take dense foam rubber and, having attached the bottom of the pouffe to it, cut out two blanks for the upper and lower parts of the product and glue them.
  5. Then, having previously measured the product, we cut out a rectangle, with which we then wrap the pouffe from the side.
  6. Now it's up to the small, we sew a cover from furniture fabric. It is desirable that it be with a zipper, then you can make several upholstery options and periodically change the appearance of your ottoman.

We make an ottoman from boards

This option is more suitable for those who are not afraid of working with a hammer and nails. To make an ottoman, you will need: chipboard (a rectangular piece measuring 40 cm by 30 cm in the amount of 4 pieces), a circle from the same chipboard (30 cm in diameter), wooden bars 4.8 cm (4 pieces), special furniture wheels with fasteners for them, special glue for wood, metal corners, self-tapping screws, fabric and foam rubber for upholstery.

An ottoman made from boards will turn out to be voluminous, while its softness can be adjusted by putting more or vice versa less foam rubber. Such a product will be much more durable than a pouffe made of plastic bottles.

  1. Let's start tinkering with the fact that from rectangular pieces of chipboard we will make a semblance of a box. To do this, we fasten four plates together with self-tapping screws and strengthen them using metal corners; first, it is necessary to check the evenness of the corners of the structure.
  2. We attach the bars to the lower part with glue, on which we plant the wheels.
  3. We fix the base on top of the box (the shape can be selected individually).
  4. Next, we make upholstery, guided by the same technology as in the previous version. We cut out the bottom, since we have a pouffe on wheels, then it will not be necessary to cover it with fabric from below. Then we cut the side part, sew. It is better to make a snake in the side seam, because after everything is ready, you just have to put on a cover and fasten the zipper.

Do-it-yourself ottoman - ideas for inspiration (photo)

A handmade pouffe will help to diversify the children's room and create an unusual place to relax. The shape and size of the future piece of furniture is selected depending on the age of the children. For work, colorful fabrics with cartoon characters, bright yarn and various decorative elements(ribbons, buttons, toys, applications).

Making a round pouffe with a handle

Most simple option is a round pouffe, consisting of several parts. You can make it from a dense bright fabric, the edges of which will be decorated with a border in a contrasting color. In addition to fabric and braid, you will need:

  • compass,
  • a large sheet of paper or several A4 formats glued together,
  • stuffing material (synthetic winterizer, foam rubber, spunbond, holofiber or any similar),
  • sewing machine,
  • threads in tone.

Instead of a pattern for such a pouffe, a paper blank in the form of a circle is used. To do this, a circle of the desired diameter is outlined on the sheet with a compass and cut out along the contour. If a chair is planned larger diameter than the compass allows, then you can use the design of two pencils connected with a thread with a length equal to the radius of the future pouffe. One pencil is set in the center, and the other is drawing with the thread stretched.

Using a fabric blank, 2 round parts are cut out - the bottom and the top of the chair. And you will also need two identical rectangles with a length equal to half the length of the circle. The width of the rectangles is selected based on the required height of the chair. For the handle, you need to cut two more smaller rectangles. Don't forget allowances.

From large rectangles, you need to make a solid part by sewing them together with wrong side. Round parts are sheathed along the edge with braid. Small rectangles are sewn together from the inside out, after which they are turned inside out and connected with a hidden seam on the remaining side and are also processed with braid.

After preparing the parts, they are swept together. A zipper can be sewn into the side of a long rectangular piece. If it is not necessary, then this side is swept with a blind seam after stuffing the pouffe with filler. A handle is sewn on the side of the chair.

Knitted pouffe

Knitted look cozy and at home. The difference between knitted options and the chairs proposed in the previous master class is that it is not used dense fabric, and the yarn in combination with a thin lining fabric. If you do not have knitting skills, then you can make such a pouf from an old sweater. To do this, the sleeves are hidden inside and sewn up. The lower part is swept away, and the neck is tied. For such a knitted bag, it is better to choose a sweater with a dense structure.

Chairs from plastic bottles

To make a similar version of the pouffe, you will need several bottles of the same size, cardboard, adhesive tape, foam rubber and upholstery fabric. The bottles are interconnected with adhesive tape and form the frame of the pouffe. The shape of the future piece of furniture can be any. The upper and lower parts are made of cardboard (preferably corrugated), on which foam rubber is glued. The sides are also cushioned with foam rubber. A fabric cover is put on top, which can be sewn by analogy with the first master class.

Making a bean bag chair

Instead of a pouffe, in the children's room can settle frameless bean bag chair shaped like a pear. Sewing a bag is easy. To do this, you need a pattern, bright dense fabric and filler. The pear is formed from six main wedges, sewn together in order of priority, the upper and lower parts.

Often the effect cosmetic repairs can be achieved, practically without resorting to it, by introducing new details into the interior of the home, be it a closet, a soft corner, or even relatively stylish looking small parts interior.

An example of this is an originally made ottoman, made independently or bought in a furniture store.

How to make an ottoman easily and without large material costs, with photos and instructions, will be discussed in this article.

Fabric ottoman

To make a fabric ottoman, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • pieces of fabric of various colors;
  • sewing machine;
  • thread, buttons and needle;
  • foam rubber or synthetic winterizer filler.

In order for the ottoman to retain its shape under loads and be elastic, a lot of filler will be needed.

Work begins with the manufacture of patterns. First, a circle of such a diameter is cut out of a suitable piece of thick cardboard, which should be the product in its final form.

The resulting circle is divided into 6-12 parts, depending on how many types of fabric are available and what the number of segments will be for a round ottoman. Then, with the help of these patterns, pieces of fabric are cut out with a small margin for stitching, and the same is done with the lining.

It turns out two bases - the upper and lower, which are also sewn together. It is important to leave one of the segments unsewn in order to be able to stuff.

The final stage of the process is the stuffing of the product with synthetic winterizer or foam rubber filler. When stuffing, you need to pay attention to the moment so that when you press hard, the ottoman does not deform.

After the end of the process, the remaining unsewn segments are sewn, and in the center, at the junction of the petals on both sides of the ottoman, they are sewn on a button.

Pouffe filled with polyethylene bottles

Usually plastic bottles are taken to the trash, but there is a better option - to use them as a filler. To work, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • several dozen plastic bottles;
  • adhesive tape, preferably wide;
  • lining made of synthetic winterizer or foam rubber;
  • thread, needle and buttons;
  • sufficient amount of fabric to make a cover.

First of all, a skeleton is constructed from bottles with tightly screwed caps, which is fastened with adhesive tape. If possible, the frame is given a rounded shape.

Then two circles of the corresponding diameter are cut out of cardboard. Also, with the help of adhesive tape, cardboard is attached to the bottles from above and below.

Two circles of the corresponding diameter are cut out of the foam rubber for the upper and lower sides, and a rectangle into which the frame is wrapped from the side. Fastening is carried out to the cardboard using a glue stapler or sewn on, foam rubber is placed on the glue from the side.

The matter remains small - you need to sew a cover of the appropriate shape and size for the resulting softened frame.

Thus, with minimal material costs, a quite decent, soft ottoman with an original design is obtained.

Pouffe from a plastic bucket

If the household has a plastic bucket without a handle, and there are no ideas where to put it, you can use it as a frame for an ottoman. In addition to the bucket, you will need a hemp rope, glue gun, cardboard, button large sizes, microfiber and stapler.

The idea is this - the bucket is braided with a rope, which is immediately glued to its side surface. Further, according to the shape of the bottom of the bucket, a circle is cut out of cardboard; a circle is also made of fabric, somewhat larger in diameter.

In the center, the fabric and cardboard are connected with a button, which is wrapped with microfiber rolled into a tube, fixing it with a glue gun.

Wrapping is carried out to the edge of the cardboard, then fastened on the reverse side upper layer tissue with a stapler. To complete the product, the lid and base are glued together. The cost of funds, as in previous cases, is minimal.

Photo instruction on how to make an ottoman with your own hands

An ottoman on wheels is a pretty handy thing, especially if it has a lid, under which something else can be put away. After going shopping and even studying Avito, I realized that there was no suitable pouf anywhere. In stores, either there are no wheels, or the colors are not the same, but on Avito the price tags are almost higher than the store ones, and there are a lot of second-hand frank ones. Therefore, it naturally emerged that you need to do the pouf yourself. A rather easy and quick creation process loomed in my head, but in reality it turned out not quite so, mainly due to inexperience. The creation process is described below.

First you need to decide on the size. In terms of height, taking into account the volumetric cover and wheels, the ottoman should not be higher than a standard chair, or it may be lower (depending on what purpose). To understand what sizes are needed, the easiest way is to take a regular chair on which you are comfortable and measure it. Our pouffe turned out to be 42x42 cm and 55 cm in height. Such a height is inconvenient and should be 45-50 cm, but it just so happened, because I invented the production technology right during the process of creating the pouffe. To make your pouf lower, then parts 2 and 3 (see drawing) will not be 380, but 330 mm high.

We will make a pouffe from chipboard and upholster it with dermantine with foam rubber filler. Below is a drawing. On it, the numbers 6 and 7 indicate the holes for confirmation 7x50 at the end of the part and on the plane, respectively. Such designations are accepted in the chipboard sawing office in order to indicate them schematically on the drawings. True, they require a distance of a multiple of 32 mm between the holes, but you can put up with this. How to make holes yourself.

Assembly

Finally, the parts are made, we begin the assembly. Do not forget to set the correct moment on the screwdriver, otherwise it will drive the confirmation too deep (

Stuffing

We agreed that the padded stool will be filled with foam rubber (polyurethane foam). To do this, we need a sheet of foam rubber (usually sheets are 2x1 meter) with a density of EL3040 and a thickness of 20 mm. The walls of the pouffe will be stuffed in one layer, and the lid will be voluminous and filled with three layers glued together. It is advisable, of course, to use a solid one with a thickness of 40-60 mm, but in order to save ...

You can mark the foam rubber or cut it directly on the workpiece, placing something under the foam rubber so as not to cut the floor.

Having cut out the foam rubber for two opposite walls (calculated size 38x39.6), we glue them to the box using PVA or glue for ceiling plinths. Here it is best to apply glue and then poke around with foam rubber on the chipboard so that the glue spreads over the surface as best as possible and does not freeze with sausages.

Having glued two sides, cut out the other two (estimated size 42x39.6), so that the foam rubber covers not only the box, but also the ends of the foam rubber on perpendicular walls. It will be clearer if you look at the photo.

Cut out the foam for the lid. Everything is simple here - cut out 3 pieces exactly 38x38 or use the blank as a template and glue them one on top of the other to the lid. Then you need to cut out the sidewalls, which, taking into account the thickness of the chipboard (16 mm) and three layers of foam rubber 20 mm each, will turn out to be 38x7.6 cm. The other two sidewalls will turn out to be 42x7.6 cm.

cover upholstery

The upholstery will consist of three pieces: 1 for the cover 67x67 cm, and two 86x52 cm for the base.

Let's start with the lid. It is the opening of the lid that is shown on the left. I'll try to explain:
42 is the width of the pouffe, taking into account 2 cm of foam rubber on both sides;
7.5 cm are small flaps 1 cm wide for stitching and forming the volume of the lid

To simplify the bending of the corners, we cut off one of the sides at an angle and bend the second obliquely.

In general, for this case, I specifically bought a stapler I had long wanted and cheap staples for it No. 53 12 mm high. Either because of the cheapness (it seems 20-30 rubles), or because of the excessive height, but they had to be beaten with a hammer. They did not want to fit in completely, like those that were in the kit by 8 mm. It was possible to pull it correctly with carnations, but it’s still more convenient with a stapler, even taking into account finishing with a hammer))

Well, the lid is ready. You should probably pull as hard as you can. In my case, after sitting, creases remain on this cover. But it is quite difficult to calculate the tension, it seems that you are pulling too hard all the time. This seems to come with experience.

base upholstery

Let's take care of the upholstery of the base. Dimensions 86x52 are made up of: 86 \u003d 2 sides of 42 cm each, plus 1 centimeter for two seams and 52 \u003d 39.5 (box height, taking into account the bottom thickness) + 2 (foam rubber on top) + 1.5 ( chipboard thickness) + 3.5 (for the hem) + 2 (thickness of the foam from the bottom) + 3.5 (for the hem). Probably, I didn’t explain it clearly, but that’s how these dimensions were set))

We sew two pieces along the short side on both sides and put the resulting cylinder through the top onto the base, bending it inward from above and below. Please note that on top the upholstery is bent directly onto the ends of the chipboard on three sides, except for one, where the hinges are attached. That's exactly (like where the loops are) I wanted to do initially, but then I decided to simplify the process, because. staples enter the end of the chipboard much easier. Thus, the hem turned out to be quite large that it had to be bent inward. I advise you to calculate in advance how you will do this so that you do not waste extra material.

loops

I took the usual loops, although you can use special lifts. It is easier to fasten first to the lid, then to the base, but it is more difficult to attach them in the right place on the lid, so that later the holes on the hinges fall into the plane of the base. I first fixed it on the base, but I had to suffer so that after attaching the hinges to the lid, it would stand evenly in the closed position.

wheels

I bought the simplest wheels for 13 rubles with a mounting platform. I attached the first wheel by placing the platform parallel to the sides of the pouffe, but I decided to place the rest at 45 degrees. I found it more reliable

Well, this is how he turned out. It was also possible to make a limiter for opening and a handle from a piece of upholstery, but this threatened with additional tangible costs for a seamstress and I decided that we would do it ourselves over time))

Price

One of the reasons for the appearance of a do-it-yourself pouffe was the price. I must say that the savings turned out to be scanty. But I just like doing things myself, it's my hobby, if you like. So:
820 - chipboard with an additive;
315 - foam rubber 2x1;
660 - leatherette 138x120 cm;
300 - seamstress services;
45 - loops;
52 - wheels;
38 - euro screws;
2230 - Total.
However, here it was possible to save money firstly on chipboard, because. I used laminated, but it was possible to cut out from any. Secondly, if you have a typewriter, then another 300 rubles of savings. I also took Dermantin good quality 550 per linear meter, there was an option to take 450 and even 350

P.S. I got a lot of useful information from
