Concrete table - “Sand and sea. How to make a concrete countertop with your own hands Concrete garden table

It may be unusual for us to see such furniture, but concrete products are quite widely produced and used in America and Europe. For example, this table is sold in furniture stores for almost $800. It seems too expensive even for the average American. On the other hand, you can make a similar item yourself if you wish.

Of course, it is unlikely that anyone will do such a thing in an apartment, but in a country house or in country house there is a place to work. The first and most important thing to do is to assemble the formwork, the form for pouring the table.

Formwork is done immediately on the entire product, a tabletop with legs. Using ordinary boards, although possible, is problematic. It will be difficult to achieve smooth inner surface form walls.

This product can be used as a coffee table, dinner table or a permanent picnic table on the property. Based on the purpose of use, you need to choose sizes. This table was made as a coffee table, the size of the top is 120/500 mm. , height 600 mm. , the thickness of the legs and table top in this option can be 80-100 mm. .

For the table that you see in the photo, polished was used as the material. Chipboard thickness 20 mm. . The assembly was carried out on self-tapping screws, while all joints were smeared with glue. Glue is needed not only for the strength of the formwork, but also for sealing the seams. In any case, after assembly, the seams must be caulked or filled with silicone.

When pouring concrete, the load on side walls for the legs will be significant. In order not to receive negative emotions, it is better to take care of strengthening the walls in advance. Concrete workers in such cases pull the walls together with a through wire. Here, this option is not very good, even after cutting, pieces of wire will stick out of the planes of the supports. It would probably be better to put external stops and slopes.

Concrete will need reinforcement, wire mesh and a round profile 8-10 mm thick. The profile is cut to size table top length + two leg heights. We bend it in the form of the letter P and insert it inside the formwork.

When the formwork is ready, we mix concrete based on gravmass or sand and very fine gravel, large fragments are undesirable here. The concrete should not be too thick or too thin. A thick mixture can spill badly into the legs, and a liquid one will flow out.

When pouring such forms, it is advisable to use a vibrator, I don’t know how acceptable this is here. In any case, lightly tap with a mallet so that the concrete is more evenly distributed.

It is better to disassemble the formwork after the concrete has completely dried, this is at least 5-7 days. The countertop needs to be moistened all the time so that it does not dry out. After disassembly, treat all corners with a grinder or a very large sandpaper on a bar. Further finishing, priming with colorless compounds or painting with opaque paints. By the way, you can take care of the appearance of the table in advance, add coloring pigments to the concrete or use colored stone chips as a filler. In this way, you can achieve a structure under natural stone.

Ready table.

What else do you need to know beforehand? The weight of such a table, depending on the size, can be 100 kg. and more. If you are going to install a table at home, then consider whether the floor can withstand such a mass. On the other hand, this is the weight of a grand piano or piano, and they are in the houses. But the use of this item on outdoors can be very beneficial.

Hello again, brain artisans! I offer you a guide on how to create a table unusual shape and type, and which one, read on.

Based on the unusual initial conditions - a narrow terrace, a pillar and a barbecue location - the task was intricate. But still, the right design, in the style of a fancy Gibson guitar from the 50s, was found and I proceeded to implement it.

Step 1: Mold to fill

Since this is not my first concrete table, I imagined how to work with concrete and what is needed for this. So, from melamine plates, I built a mold for pouring and filled it with fittings. For the rounded parts of the shape I used pieces PVC pipes. Further, all the cracks around the perimeter were “caulked” with silicone sealant.

Step 2: Concrete, Shards and Dye

Over the years, living by the sea, my wife had collected a lot of colorful pieces of glass from the beach, which I was going to use. Having drawn an approximate coastline on the form, I laid out these fragments along its length, and then the “alchemy” of preparing the solution went on.

As close as possible to the table setting, since I was working alone and the concrete table is heavy, I started pouring the multi-colored concrete composition. To create this very concrete, I used special dyes and a concrete mixer, which are easily purchased either on the Internet or in a good hardware store. All components and were calculated according to the instructions, so that for quality homemade then I was not ashamed in front of my friends 🙂

Step 3: Vibrate

After filling the form, it is necessary to “vibrate” the solution to remove air from it. Looking back, I realize that my mixture was very thick and even after half an hour of vibration there were bubbles. Therefore, before polishing, it was necessary to fill the voids on front side color matching solution.

Step 4: Polishing

During the hardening of the mortar, I made a table stand from 15x20 bars, and after hardening, I installed a countertop on it and secured it with bolts.

The most dusty moment has come - polishing. Using brain grinder and a nozzle for grinding and polishing the stone, I processed the countertop to the desired shine J By changing the grit of the nozzles I achieved perfect surface, especially on the "sea" and fixed everything with several layers of wax.

Step 5: Relax and enjoy the beach

Homemade ready, invite your friends to the barbecue!

When visiting, the first thing you always pay attention to is such simple and extraordinary little things as coffee tables, and if they are made of such a rough material as concrete, no one will remain indifferent.

In addition to adding style to your interior, this part of your home has been, is and will be a highly functional and practical piece of furniture - a place where you and your friends can place your drinks, food, or where you can put your feet to relax while watching a movie. .

Therefore, I will not be mistaken in saying that they play very important role in the decoration of the living room.

But, alas, their great negative quality in our understanding is its unsuitability for frequent use. Since manufacturing companies make them from wood as a standard, the service life of a favorite assistant is much shorter than desired.

So what to do? Concrete coffee tables- this is the answer. They are unconventional, bold and modern, and will easily cope with wear and tear.

How rough is how durable

Each thing has its positive and negative features, and only you have the right to decide which positive traits you will be impressed, and what negative aspects will not scare you.

This is exactly the case with regard to this idea - despite the fact that this dark gray hulk has wheels, it will not be so easy to move it.

Therefore, our advice is to find him immediately the best place and then he will only please you. This variant was designed by Patrick Doignies and made from rough cement.

For the ages does not mean old-fashioned

Very, very stylish, that's how you can describe this low coffee table. It is possible to explain such a concise and, nevertheless, impressive model, just by knowing what it is made of - a combination of wood, steel and concrete, in such a rather gentle and at the same time reliable performance.

This development belongs to Jérôme Tison, the base is wood plus waxed concrete surfaces treated with a special coating. For greater effect, the designer added a 2-liter burner.

Both a work of art and a multifunctional element

Austrian designer Daniel Meise knows a thing or two about the extraordinary qualities of cement powder. He used a special formula to create this special collection, which fuses thin walls into a graceful coffee table. the material hardens quickly and remains solid even despite the fact that the creator of these tables makes very thin walls.

Due to this fact, they are very light.

Kane - remember this name, it will not leave you indifferent

John Cortese places himself as a timeless creator. A man with a classical view of the world creates truly modern pieces of art. Appearance his coffee table Kane speaks for himself. More details about it can be found here seventhdesigns

Who said cement can't be tender

This beauty (natural colors) is no different large sizes- length 130, height 30, width 70 cm, weight 93 kg. But it's not the numbers that make it such an interesting piece of furniture.

It is his simplicity and conciseness that enthralls those around him. This idea is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, and you can arrange a table without an elegant floral design.

Elementary and simple - everything you need for minimalism

This idea is not just a concrete structure, as this particular model is made of marble, granite, stone, etc. As a result of this choice of raw materials, its price starts from $450.

However, it is the love for such raw materials that creates a more natural texture (more on cb2)

Table-fireplace “Whiteout”

Another great example of how you can add a fireplace to regular table, or better yet, another stunning example of how many things you can fit into your furniture.

It looks stylish, but only cold granite and fire are combined.

Desert warming on cold days

There are manufacturers who have invested heavily in technology to come up with lightweight concrete for furniture. This is the case with the LCDA team, which calls itself an innovative and creative creator company.

They boast that they have succeeded in creating such a base - "Béton Lège" or fan-shaped concrete with various characteristics. And the most important quality of this achievement is a very interesting and modern look.

Stained glass windows, or how to achieve perfection

The guys at raw form design have created an amazing keyhole element for a stained glass window. An extraordinary approach to the design of an ordinary thing.

Polished concrete looks like granite

The idea of this model is interesting precisely because a professional will be able to “sharpen” concrete for you to meet the needs of your interior.

In this way, you can achieve your request, both in traditional and modern settings (more details on customconcrete).

Favorite wood table upgraded with a concrete top

Our list is not limited to items made entirely of cement. Since the concrete mixture is uneven, therefore, a tree will look so good in a duet with it.

AND best example this this option with teak top and deep concrete base gray color. It costs, of course, not small money - $ 2,295, but it looks simply amazing (interested? Read more on RH).

Sections for storing things of the most practical owners

Jeremy Kaplan is a designer who came up with another great and interesting version. There is space to put your stuff upstairs and there is space to hide a stack of magazines at the bottom. Gorgeous and functional at the same time.

Concrete countertop that adds charm

Buy industrial steel beams, create a base and then attach a concrete top - your own perfect table. Make sure on concrete surface applied protective coating.

Remember that the irregularities of the cement will only add their beauty and originality to your interior.

Block accessory for your home

More options for concrete coffee tables on the video below.

There is a huge variety of types of countertops, they differ both in appearance and in shape. Masters have learned to combine almost incompatible things into one whole. Many interesting works use and combine materials such as (wood, glass, metal and concrete). In this work, the author will use three main elements, it will be wood, concrete, and metal, as the element will serve as the internal structure of the future countertop.

In order to make a similar countertop with our own hands, we need:

Tool:
- saw;
- clamp;
- level;
-putty knife;
- sponge;
- grinder with grinding discs;
- gas-burner;
- sandpaper.

Materials:
- log;
- steel fittings;
- stainless steel bolts;
- pigments for painting concrete;
- concrete polishing wax;
- polyethylene film;
- epoxy resin;
- lumber;
- the base of the table.

The first step is to choose wood. You can choose any breed that you like, or one that is available. The main thing is that the tree is strong and dried in advance.

We take a log and cut out the board. In this article wood material such a variety of wood as Cedar was chosen. We leave all the uneven side edges of the board, they are needed in order to convey the natural beauty of wood.

The thickness of the board can be used five to seven centimeters. If you don't have suitable equipment and skills for cutting wood, it would be best to order this blank at the nearest sawmill.

When the board is ready, you need to sand the surface as carefully as possible. If there are any irregularities and surface recesses, they must be filled epoxy resin. In this case, you need to be as careful as possible so that there are no air bubbles in the process.

If bubbles still appear, use gas burner. We bring and warm the surface, while trying not to hold it in one place for a long time, as you can ruin the wood. We leave the board and wait until the resin dries.

When the surface is dry you need to take sandpaper with 220 grit and walk over the surface. Then polish with wax.

The next step is to make the frame of the countertop.

To do this, you need to take lumber and build an invented shape. The design should not be overall, as in the future ready product it can get heavy, but we don't need it. The inner side of the frame must be treated with a special compound, this is so that the hardened concrete subsequently easily lags behind it.

We take the board and put it in the center of the frame. We screw stainless steel bolts on the sides of the board, this is to ensure that there is maximum fixation of concrete with wood.

We put reinforcement of a certain length along the board at the bottom of the frame, this will also serve as an additional reinforcement of the product.

Next, we breed high-strength concrete mortar, while adding a special coloring pigment to it, it should evenly dissolve. When the solution is ready, pour it into the finished form. This must be done very carefully. It is necessary to exclude air ingress as much as possible. There should be no gaps between the board and concrete. In order for the concrete solution to sit best, we pass from the outside grinder, it creates vibration, so the solution fills all the voids.

After the concrete surface has been poured, we go through the rules and level it. We leave to dry. In this case, this process should not be accelerated, just cover with polyethylene. In hot weather outside, it is advisable to wipe the surface with water using a sponge.

When the concrete has completely hardened, we remove the box and grind it with a grinder with different nozzles. From the largest we gradually move to the smallest.

After grinding, small depressions may form on the concrete, which means that during the pouring process air entered and bubbles remained. We simply fill all these recesses with a solution of concrete and let it dry, and then we grind it again.

Now we carry out wet grinding, that is, we wet the surface with water and grind it. Since the surface is slippery, you need to be as careful as possible, do not forget about safety precautions.

The final stage.
We cover the countertop with wax and carefully polish it.

Concrete tables are functional decorative products that you can buy on our website at an affordable cost. Their shapes and sizes are quite diverse, which will allow you to create a unique landscape design any area.

Basically, a concrete table is used to decorate the exterior of a building. Due to the fact that it is made from natural raw materials, the product is able to withstand loads of varying intensity.

Production technology of concrete tables

The concrete table is distinguished by a rather complex manufacturing process, which uses high-tech equipment and special devices - molds. With their help, the product is given a certain look and parameters.

Initially, the concrete mass is mixed, which includes the following ingredients:

  • Portland cement;
  • cleaned sand;
  • water with certain technical properties;
  • plasticizers and other fillers.

In order for the concrete table to be endowed with a high indicator of strength and reliability, and also to have a dense structure, the cement mass is thoroughly mixed in special equipment. After that, it is poured into molds, lubricated with technical oil, and placed on a vibrating table. Then the forms filled concrete mix, are placed in the drying chambers, in which they are until the product is completely dry.

We offer you to purchase concrete tables, which are sold on our website at an affordable cost. The products meet the established quality standards, which makes it possible to operate it for a long time.

Product Features

The concrete table has the following advantages:

  • moisture resistance - due to the fact that concrete has a dense structure, it is not able to absorb moisture and deform under its influence;
  • strength - the product is able to withstand significant physical and mechanical loads;
  • fire resistance - concrete does not burn and does not melt under the influence of high temperature conditions;
  • wear resistance - tables are used for a long time and at the same time do not lose their characteristics and appearance.

For the design of the countertop, you can use any modern Decoration Materials: wood, plastic, ceramic tiles, porcelain stoneware and much more.
