It is more difficult and expensive to work with cotton wool, since it will be necessary to make a false wall (usually drywall) to protect the basalt fibers, and besides, it is important to take care that moisture does not get into the structure of the material. If this happens, then the effect of all the work done will be zero, since all thermal insulation qualities will disappear very quickly.

Here it seems to start to seem that cotton wool is better anyway (because it is “warmer”), but everything is decided by the nuances of the situation. Yes, cotton wool seems to be good, but what's the point in it if, for example, you need to insulate the shower room not in the house, but, for example, in the country and you don’t want to invest? The obvious budget solution in this case is a metallized insulator - stick it on the wall and forget it.

But in the case of a more or less capital approach, but again in the absence of significant financial resources, it is better to opt for mineral wool and insulation from the inside. It turns out that there is no ideal option and a decision needs to be made only based on the characteristics of the project.

Conditions for carrying out installation work with a substrate in the room

To glue the insulation on the walls of the apartment, you have to do the following:

  • First of all, it is worth preparing the surface, for which you need to remove the old wallpaper, plaster the wall, smoothing and patching up large cracks and bumps. Small defects in the wall surface can be left, they will close.
  • Next, the surface of the wall must be primed. This is done either with the help of glue, with which we will glue the substrate, diluted in a weaker consistency, or with the help of a special primer composition. After the primer, you must wait until it is absorbed into the wall and dries.
  • It is recommended to cut the roll insulation into pieces of the required length in advance so that it can lie down and level out. This will make it much easier for us to glue it. When cutting the canvas, add a little material for insurance.
  • We prepare the adhesive composition according to the instructions on its pack. If we are dealing with a substrate with a top layer of paper, then we apply glue to the wall and to the cut pieces, while letting them soak in the composition for literally 5 minutes. If the substrate is equipped with non-woven edges, then it is enough to spread the wall, and the material will easily attach to it.

  • Next, we proceed directly to the installation of canvases on the walls. This process is reminiscent of wallpapering, the pieces are also glued together and carefully smoothed out. Air is expelled from under the canvas and it is firmly glued to the wall. It is convenient to use a rubber roller, it will create the necessary pressure and will not damage the insulation sheet.
