Tutorial: how to make bath bombs

These two recipes confirm that the main ingredients of bath bombs are soda (food), acid (citric) and dyes (also food). Most often, sea salt and fillers in the form of dried flowers and other useful components are also added. Moreover, the classic ratio of soda and acid in all recipes is two to one. All other ingredients are added as desired in the right amount. The variety of components can be amazing: from confetti inside the product to surprises in a large bomb. For example, a hissing reaction begins in it and, after the gradual dissolution of the shell of the product, a rubber duck for a bath or any other toy slowly appears inside. You can use the standard instructions for making bath bombs. Moreover, it is recommended to carefully weigh all the necessary ingredients, for example, using electronic scales, because by eye it is unlikely that the necessary proportion will be observed. Then you can take a blender or mixer, with the help of which the whole mass is alternately crushed and mixed. Moreover, when mixing baking soda and citric acid, it is recommended to be especially careful. When using citric acid, it should not be allowed to enter the eyes and respiratory tract. Some authors even recommend using respirators and working in well-ventilated areas, as the bath geyser hisses due to the reaction of soda with acid and water, and in fact citric acid are classified as active substances. Before you make a bath bomb, it is recommended to carefully grind all the other ingredients. Of course, all kinds of decorations, such as flower petals, toys and other tinsel, cannot be crushed. All other components are the same general rule: the smaller they are, the stronger the hissing reaction of the bombs will be. For mixing all the resulting mass together and forming balls, especially when there are diseases skin type of eczema, or there are unhealed wounds, you need to wear gloves. And when there are no skin problems, then you can do everything with your bare hands, despite the advice in other recipes. After all, in fact, a product is made for the same skin of the body, so why be protected? And in the event of an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients, we will be able to limit the area of damage to the body by the irritant for another preparatory stage rather than plunging into it with the whole body. The addition of a small amount of essential oils cannot be combined with fragrances. When a small drop of water is added to the mixture with a teaspoon, the resulting mixture will begin to sizzle slowly. At this point, it is important to start stirring the product again in order to extinguish the premature reaction in time. Then a viscosity test is done: a small lump of the mixture is taken and slightly compressed.

If at the same time there is a feeling of similarity with dampish sand, then this confirms the readiness of bath bombs for their packaging in a mold. If desired, petals and herbs can be put into the mold as a decoration. Then the resulting mixture is poured into the halves of the mold and compacted tightly. On one half of the mold, small slides of the mixture are poured into the cells, which will allow both halves to penetrate each other during bonding.

Little things like this are very important to make quality bath bombs. Master Class, step by step instructions, photo galleries and video stories will help to take into account all the details of the process and avoid common mistakes. So, according to the advice of the masters, then you need to take both halves and squeeze them tightly with your hands, holding for at least 15 seconds.

Then the halves are fastened along the edges with clamps and left for several hours, and according to some tips, even for the whole day. You can also put the form on a heating battery or in the sun. So the products dry faster and deeper, which is very important for them. After drying, the molds are carefully opened. If tennis balls or toy eggs were used, then you need to take the mold in left hand, firmly hold one half of the form, and right hand make smooth circular movements of the other part of the mold. After that, the bombs are considered ready. They can be used for your own benefit and pleasure. Ready-made bombs are stored as standard - in dry, cool places. And excess moisture can lead to a loss in the quality of the product: it will either go out ahead of time and will not give any reaction at all in the bath, or it will react very weakly.

Recipe: DIY bath bombs

This popular easy bath bomb recipe can be customized to create your own variations. You can, for example, replace dry cream and milk with starch or oatmeal. There are no strict prescriptions in choosing the aroma and color of the bomb either: everything is up to your taste. Any reasonable experiments will only improve the quality of the product. Many women really liked the recipe with the composition of essential oils. For these bombs you need to prepare:

  • baking soda (4 tablespoons),
  • citric acid (2 tablespoons),
  • powdered milk (1 tablespoon),
  • sea salt (1 tablespoon),
  • peach base oil (2 tablespoons),
  • essential oil of bergamot (10 drops),
  • rosemary essential oil (10 drops)
  • heather dried flower.

There are no special subtleties in the process of preparing the product. First, the soda is sifted so that there are no lumps and poured into a dry, clean bowl. Next, citric acid, powdered cream and sea salt are added, which must first be ground in a coffee grinder. All ingredients are thoroughly mixed to evenly distribute the components. The resulting oil mass is added to the main powder mixture and everything is thoroughly mixed by hand. At the same time, in most instructions on how to make bath bombs, it is recommended not to abuse the amount of water so as not to provoke the onset of a reaction. Further, a pinch of heather dried flower is placed on the bottom of the mold, and the mixture is laid out on it in layers with a teaspoon. Heather can be replaced with oatmeal, dry cornflowers, rose petals, coffee beans. Often, instead of special forms for bombs, children's plastic molds for the sandbox, chocolate egg cases, candy balls are used. But at the same time, the form should not bend. After drying, the pop will be ready for use. If citric acid is not available, fresh lemon juice can be used. But in this case, the bomb will boil a little less, although you will get an awesome citrus aroma. And yet, if you replace citric acid with natural juice, you will have to add more dry ingredient to make the mass quite thick.
  3. Starch. It is better to take corn - it dissolves quickly and leaves no particles behind. If there is no starch on hand, it can be replaced with dry milk. In fact, starch is just a filler to add volume to the bomb. In addition, starch helps the geyser to boil longer than usual.
  4. Oils. As you know, any cosmetic oil has a great effect on the skin, especially dry and lifeless. By adding a little oil to your bombs, you will make a product that is not only beautiful, but also healthy for the skin. For a geyser, you can use any oil - almond, coconut, peach, linseed. Sea buckthorn oil will not only moisturize your skin, but also give a slight blush to your pale body due to its orange color. If there are no cosmetic oils, use a simple olive or sunflower oil - it is also incredibly beneficial for the skin, gives the epidermis elasticity and elasticity. If you do not like oil formulations, make a bomb without them, their use is optional.
  5. Essential oils. Smells are another component for comfortable relaxation. Essential oils can be bought at the pharmacy - there they are presented in a wide range. And tomorrow, tired of a hard day, you will want to relax and a bomb with the smell of pine needles will help you with this.
  6. Dye. In order for the bomb to be not only fragrant and healthy, but also beautiful, you need to add a dye to it. It can be ordinary watercolor or gouache, but it is safer to use food-grade paints, since the coloring pigment is in contact with a large area of \u200b\u200bthe skin. Food colors can be bought at any culinary store, they are quite rich and deep. If you are for naturalness, you can use beetroot juice, which will give a deep pink tint. Turmeric will give your bombshell a golden sheen. purple color can be achieved using blueberry or currant juice. And here green tint obtained from the juice of spinach and parsley.
  7. Soap component. To make the bomb interesting, you can add a soap component to its composition. Thanks to this component, the bomb will not only bubble and bubble, it will begin to give out foam. As a soap component, you can use shower gel, bath foam, shampoo or plain liquid soap.

In addition to the main ingredients, you can add anything to the bomb. It can be sea salt, which will improve the condition of your skin, or a decoction of string, which will soothe and heal small wounds on the body. Anything that comes to your mind can be part of a geyser. But how to prepare it so that everything works out?

Let's take basic recipe making bombs. For him, we need citric acid, soda, starch, peppermint essential oil, a little bath foam, green dye and a spoonful of peach oil.

  1. To prepare bombs, you need to take plastic or porcelain dishes. This is especially true of a spoon - an ordinary metal one can oxidize.
  2. Sift citric acid, starch and soda through a sieve so that there are no hard sticky pieces left in the mass. Mix these ingredients in the following proportions - two parts of citric acid, the same amount of soda and one part of starch. If you take 2 tablespoons of acid and soda, as well as one tablespoon of starch, you get about three small bombs.
  3. Take all the powders and mix them thoroughly. Add a tablespoon of bath foam, a few drops of dye and peppermint essential oil. Now you should mix everything well, the intensity of the bubbling of the bomb depends on it. If the mass is too thick, add a little more foam, if too thin, increase the amount of starch. Do not add water to the mass. At most, you can sprinkle the porridge with a small spray from a spray bottle. If you add water, the mass will begin to hiss strongly - the reaction will occur earlier than planned and the mass will crystallize incorrectly. After that, it will lose its properties and will not hiss when it enters the water.
  4. Knead the dough from the prepared mass and divide it into several parts. Production bombs are round, but we can make them any. In fact, the shape is not important - after all, you immediately throw the mass into the water, and it will quickly dissolve. To form bombs, you can use Silicone forms for cupcakes plastic container for freezing ice. So that after freezing the bombs leave the mold well, the container is pre-lubricated vegetable oil. If you don't have molds handy, simply roll the mixture into balls and place on a cutting board.
  5. When the bombs are ready, they should be sent to the refrigerator, or better, to the freezer, where they will grab better and, when thrown into the water, will defrost longer, which means that the bubbling process will be long.

This is an easy way to make sizzling bath bombs. But the recipe can be varied, getting incredibly beautiful, fragrant and unusual bombs.

Cooking effervescent romance for the bath:

  1. Cocoa butter has found its way into cosmetics and skin care products, and not surprisingly, because it has many useful properties. It nourishes, tones and moisturizes the skin making it smoother. And so, we take a piece of cocoa butter and melt it in a water bath in the microwave. If microwave oven you don’t have it, it doesn’t matter - it can also be melted on a conventional heating battery.
  2. Cool slightly and gradually add essential oils and liquid food coloring. The resulting slurry is thoroughly mixed.
  3. Now add the rest of the ingredients: baking soda, citric acid and chopped oatmeal.
  4. Stir the mixture thoroughly with your hands until smooth. If you are a connoisseur in cooking, then you will feel how the consistency will turn out close to shortcrust pastry.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a mold.
  6. Now we need to harden the future bath bomb. To do this, place the mold in the refrigerator until completely solidified, or place it in freezer. As a rule, 20-30 minutes is enough for this.
  7. We take out the frozen bomb from the mold and wrap it with plastic wrap.

Mineral bath bomb - skin care with the tenderness of roses

The composition of the mineral bomb:

  1. Baking soda - 200 grams;
  2. Citric acid - 100 grams;
  3. Curry - 10 grams;
  4. Magnesium sulfate - 100 grams (epsom salt);
  5. Glycerin - 1 tablespoon;
  6. Almond oil - 1 tablespoon;
  7. Rose oil (essential oil of rose);
  8. Fresh rose petals;
  9. Running water - 1 dessert spoon;

Step by step manufacturing mineral bombs:

  1. First, we need to dry mix three ingredients: baking soda, citric acid and magnesium sulfate (also known as Epsom salt, sold in pharmacies). Thoroughly stir the resulting mass until smooth, so that there is not a single lump.
  2. Carefully add glycerin to the mass and mix.
  3. We mix both essential oils: almond and rose.
  4. Now, with the help of curry, we color the resulting slurry in a light lemon color.
  5. Add water and mix thoroughly. Do not be alarmed when the mass begins to foam slightly and increase, the reaction has begun. How to determine that the mass is the right one? Very simple - squeeze it in a fist, and if it does not crumble - you have achieved a dense consistency.
  6. The next step is to decorate the bath bomb with rose petals. If you are using fresh petals, then simply lay them on the bottom of the mold, and then put the mass on top, tamping it tightly. If you have dry rose petals, then they need to be moistened before unfolding.
  7. Recommended drying time: 48 hours.
