My best and most favorite English rose. I recommend to all. Luxurious, huge cup-shaped flowers of amber color, with a rich fruity-tea aroma. The bush is round, branched, very harmonious in shape, the tips of long shoots with flowers droop, so that the variety looks wonderful on a small obelisk. The rose grows quite large - I have a bush of about 120 cm, and all 150 are obtained on the obelisk. The flowers hold rain well enough - red spots may appear on the petals, and the outer ones may wrinkle, but the flowers as a whole never "pupate" and do not hang " with wet rags" as happens with other roses. In faded flowers, the petals crumble well and they practically do not have to be cut off. I have never been sick with anything. A luxurious variety for solitaire planting. By the way, the representative of Austin recommended it as one of the best for growing on trunks.

The most favorite rose in our garden. Since we have been growing it for 5 years, I would like to exchange impressions. We live in the south, the summers are very hot, but the winters are cold, although they have been shortened by a month, and are often snowless. This year there were frosts down to minus 29. So it has become much more difficult to grow roses. The leaves do not tolerate heat very well, so we carefully cover them for the winter. The first two years, two Golden Celebration bushes gained strength and shape of the bush, although at the same time they also strived for flowering. The rose flower was impressive, but the bush was not very aesthetic, all the branches needed support. And the mass of bushes was weak.
But last year they showed themselves in all their glory. This can be seen in the first photo: on June 11, the bushes were literally covered with yellow foam. It was impossible to pass by them; they exuded an amazing aroma. The height of the bushes reached 1.5 m, the shape of the bushes was maintained with the help of supports. I noticed that shoots from the branches of the third year were blooming. And the bushes acquired shape only when they grew a mass of such branches. I don’t show a flower in the photo, there are a lot of these photos in the collection, namely the shape of the bushes in full height. I immediately concluded that I planted the roses too close to each other. The second bloom of the year is shown in the second photo, it is not so abundant, but the flowers are larger. And there were also many flowers between these blooms.
They covered the roses very carefully for the winter, without cutting off the branches at all. All the roses from our collection overwintered, including the ostinkas. But Golden Celebrity did not send out a single shoot from the old branches. I had to cut off all the branches; the bushes are forming anew this year. And by June 2 they bloom again, as can be seen in the 3rd photo. Here the beginning of flowering, not all the buds have yet blossomed, but the bush is clearly smaller than last year, there is simply no mass of branches, because all the branches have grown again. I had a suspicion that 4-5 years is the life cycle of such spray roses. Am I right, maybe someone has experience of growing ostins for a longer time and pruning them more skillfully?

The first bloom left me confused: plain yellow, odorless and raisin. I didn’t look at her again. And today, in the depths of the bush, I saw a beautiful quartered masterpiece with a wonderful aroma, intensely felt at noon. The bush is dense, lush, the foliage is light green. Rose is worthy and will be good choice for lovers of warm yellow color.

This rose is growing at a crazy pace. I put it on an arch with a net. It gave I don’t know how many dozens of branches and all in buds. The entire arch from top to bottom is filled only with this rose. I didn’t expect that a rose could even be so thick and lush .It really fills the space allotted to it completely. You can’t see anything through it at all, it’s not like some climbing roses - one stick and a couple of branches. This is exactly a gorgeous ROSE for the garden. I’m waiting for the flowers to open... I advise you to plant it on an arch .She needs some kind of support. And in general, some English varieties require such supports as mini-arches with a lattice. The roses then begin to entwine them. Otherwise, they will always bend toward the ground. But I understand that not everyone has the space for such structures.

Absolutely my only rose out of 110 bushes (85 varieties), which came out of the most difficult winter of 2014-15 perfectly! shoots to the tips. Already now it stands in lush foliage against the backdrop of bald rose gardens. In wintering areas it is consistently ideal! Pah-pah-pah a hundred times!

A rose of amazing beauty. On David Austin's website, the height of this rose is indicated as 8-10 f, which is 2.5 - 3 meters! And the most interesting thing is that it’s true! In my arch it has reached its length in three years and hanging from a height it looks royal!

The rose is in its second year. It has been blooming for a week. There are about 10 buds on the bush. Maybe I didn’t count more. The aroma is in the whole yard. The buds are strong, beautiful. It feels like it has bloomed for the whole summer. As for the smell, it bloomed about five meters from it
Blue for You (there is a description of this rose on the website) These two roses give so much
aroma that you simply forget about everything else.

In addition to the official types of roses, there are unofficial groups, which include English roses, bred by the British breeder D. Austin. This specialist received several dozen varieties of the “queen of flowers”, each of which is a real masterpiece. Rose Golden Celebration is one of the best in D. Austin's collection. The popularity of this flowering perennial is high, since the plant tolerates any weather changes well, and its flowering does not deteriorate. But you should remember when planting seedlings and further care For a rose you need to follow certain rules. About others positive qualities varieties, main characteristics, nuances of cultivation will be described below.

History of the variety's creation

D. Austin in the middle of the last century decided to “breathe” a second life into ancient varieties roses grown in the UK. He crossed them with modern climbing and tea varieties, as well as floribundas. In addition, another goal of this breeder was to create varieties with yellow and orange buds. And he succeeded - several dozen species of the “queen of flowers” with bud colors ranging from soft yellow to peach and orange were presented to the flower growers.

A little later, at the end of the last century, the Golden Celebration rose was bred. Specialists from the British rose growing company David Austin Roses worked on its creation. Its working name became AUSgold. And a few years later, this variety was patented in many European countries, and this flowering perennial came to other continents.

Rose Golden Celebration

The description of the variety states that the Celebration rose was obtained by crossing the varieties Charles Austin and Abraham Darby. In the relatively short period of its existence, the Golden Celebration rose has repeatedly received prizes and diplomas at the most prestigious international exhibitions.

Characteristics and features of the variety

This blooming perennial shrub strong and quite spreading, its height is 1.4-1.5 m, the bush can reach the same size in diameter. The shoots are powerful, slightly drooping. In warm regions, stems park rose Celebrations grow very long during the season, so they are grown there as climbing plants. Another advantage of the plant is the average number of thorns on the shoots. The leaf blades are quite hard, compacted, rich emerald in color, with a characteristic gloss on the upper part of the foliage.

For your information! For the beautiful shape of the bushes, the Golden Celebration rose received a diploma at one of the international rose exhibitions.

The main pride of this flowering perennial is the buds that bloom on the shoots. The color of these flowers is unusual; you can compare it with an orange egg yolk, which is joined by pink and peach shades in the form of small merging points. As a result, the color of the petals is copper and golden. The diameter of the blossoming bud is up to 14-14.5 cm, which is quite large for rose bushes. Moreover, there are few varieties of roses with this shade in Austin’s collection.

On the shoot, these buds are usually collected in racemose inflorescences, slightly drooping under the weight of their own weight. This shrub blooms repeatedly, the first wave of which is the most abundant. The buds begin to bloom on the Golden Celebration rose in the first ten days of June, and flowering ends in the last ten days of October.

Buds of Golden Celebration

The sweetish-fruity aroma of the blossoming buds is very persistent and clearly noticeable.

The frost resistance of this perennial is average, but its resistance to powdery mildew and black spotting - high. This variety tolerates heat and short-term precipitation well, without stopping its abundant flowering.

Agricultural technology

This plant does not tolerate shade well, and its flowers quickly fade under the hot midday rays of the sun, so best site for them, one where the sun illuminates the bushes in the morning and evening hours, and during the day the rose falls into light partial shade from a building, hedge or fruit trees.

The place for planting bushes should be protected from gusts of cold wind and strong drafts. The area for planting is prepared in advance, preferably in the fall: manure or other organic matter (compost or humus) must be added for digging. In the spring, the site is dug up again and complex mineral fertilizers.

Important! The soil should not be too acidic, so before planting you can add 1 tbsp. wood ash.

Seedlings can be planted in open ground in spring or autumn period. It is better for novice gardeners to plant this rose in the spring so that it takes root well and gets stronger over the summer, but in the fall such a gardener may not guess the planting time, the plant will not acclimatize in the new place and will freeze in the winter.

Plant planting material follows in the second ten days of May. The depth of the planting holes should be at least 0.4 m, since the roots grow very quickly and go deep into the soil. The root collar is buried 2.5-3 cm into the soil. If it is deepened too much, the bush will degenerate into a rose hip and may not bloom at all.

Rose seedlings

After planting, the soil should be well compacted so that the seedling does not wobble, otherwise the bush will not be able to take root well.

This flowering shrub requires good care, if the gardener does everything wrong, he may not see abundant flowering.

The main requirements for caring for this variety:

  • compliance with the irrigation regime;
  • loosening the soil while simultaneously removing weeds;
  • mulching trunk circle after watering;
  • regular application of fertilizers throughout the season;
  • pruning bushes in spring period and after flowering (if necessary).

The following watering regime should be observed:

  • bushes are irrigated once every 3-4 days;
  • in hot weather, the amount of watering is increased;
  • in the rainy season they moisten less often.

Note! The rate of single watering for young bushes is 7-8 liters, for adult plants - 2 times more.

After each watering, the soil should be loosened, all weeds removed and a layer of mulch added - humus, sawdust or grass.

Feeding roses

Feed these flowering bushes follows several times a season. In the spring, mineral fertilizers containing nitrogen are applied to the plants, since this microelement promotes the active growth of vegetative mass. As soon as the first buds appear on the shoots, you should fertilize again. During this period, fertilizers that contain phosphorus and potassium will work well, and nitrogen fertilizing is excluded, otherwise stems and foliage will actively grow on the bushes to the detriment of abundant flowering.

During the flowering period, potassium-phosphorus fertilizers are applied again, and at the end of the flowering period, before the onset of cold weather, the rose bushes are fed for the last time, adding superphosphate and potassium salt.

In the spring, before the appearance of young foliage, sanitary pruning is carried out. It is necessary to remove all damaged, diseased, frozen and dried shoots. This procedure activates the growth of the bush. In summer, excess young shoots growing inside the bush should be removed to avoid thickening, as well as fading buds. Autumn pruning is carried out as necessary.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

The main advantages of this plant include:

  • high resistance to fungal diseases;
  • repeated abundant flowering;
  • high vigor of shoot growth.

Important! The buds of this rose can change color depending on where they grow: in partial shade the petals acquire a rich copper color, and under bright sunbeams become pale yellow.

Disadvantages flowering plant not much: they do not tolerate prolonged rainy periods well, they require good shelter for the winter, since their frost resistance is below average.

But in general, the Golden Celebration rose can be grown not only in warm regions of Russia, but also in the Moscow region and other areas with a similar climate. Even a beginner can cope with this if you follow the recommendations presented above.
