My best and most favorite English rose. I recommend to all. Luxurious, huge cup-shaped flowers of amber color, with a rich fruity-tea aroma. The bush is round, branched, very harmonious in shape, the tips of long shoots with flowers droop, so that the variety looks wonderful on a small obelisk. The rose grows quite large - I have a bush of about 120 cm, and all 150 are obtained on the obelisk. The flowers hold the rain quite well - red spots may appear on the petals, and the outer ones may wrinkle, but the flowers as a whole never "pupate" and do not hang " wet rags" as is the case with other roses. In faded flowers, the petals crumble well and they practically do not have to be cut off. Never had any pain. Luxurious variety for solitary planting. By the way, the representative of Austin recommended it as one of the best for growing on trunks.

The most beloved rose in our garden. Since we have been growing it for 5 years, I would like to exchange impressions. We live in the south, very hot summers, but cold winters, although shortened by a month, often without snow. This year there were frosts down to minus 29. So it has become much more difficult to grow roses. The ostins do not tolerate heat very well, but we carefully cover them for the winter. The first two years, two Golden Celebration bushes gained strength and shape of the bush, although at the same time they also strived for flowering. The rose flower was impressive, but the bush was not very aesthetic, all the branches needed support. Yes, and the mass of bushes was weak.
But last year they showed themselves in all their glory. This can be seen in the first photo: on June 11, the bushes were literally covered with yellow foam. It was impossible to pass them by, they exuded an amazing aroma. The height of the bushes reached 1.5 m, the shape of the bushes was kept with the help of supports. I noticed that shoots from the branches of the third year were blooming. And the bushes took shape only when they increased the mass of such branches. I don’t show a flower in the photo, there are a lot of these photos in the collection, namely the shape of the bushes in full height. I immediately concluded that I planted roses too close to each other. The second bloom of the year is shown in the second photo, it is not so abundant, but the flowers are larger. And there were also many flowers between these blooms.
For the winter, the roses were very carefully covered, without cutting the branches at all. All roses from our collection overwintered, including Austin roses. But Golden Celebration did not let out a single shoot from the old branches. I had to cut off all the branches, the bushes are formed anew this year. And by June 2 they bloom again, this can be seen in the 3rd photo. Here the beginning of flowering, not all the buds have yet blossomed, but the bush is clearly smaller than last year, there is simply no mass of branches, because all the branches have grown again. I had a suspicion that 4-5 years is the life cycle of such spray roses. Am I right, maybe someone has experience of growing ostins for a longer time and pruning them more skillfully?

The first bloom left me confused: plain yellow, odorless and raisin. She didn't look at her again. And today, in the depths of the bush, I saw a beautiful quartered masterpiece with a wonderful aroma, intensely felt at noon. The bush is dense, lush, the foliage is light green. The rose is worthy and will good choice for lovers of warm yellow.

This rose is growing at a frantic pace. I put it on an arch with a net. She gave I don’t know how many dozens of branches and everything is in buds. The entire arch from top to bottom is filled with only this rose. .She really fills the space allotted to her completely. You can’t see anything through her at all, she’s not like some climbing roses - one stick and a couple of branches. .She needs some kind of support. And in general, some English varieties require such supports, like mini-arches with a lattice. Then the roses begin to wrap around them. Otherwise, they will lean towards the ground all the time. But I understand that not everyone has a place for such structures.

Absolutely my only rose from 110 bushes (85 varieties), which is perfect!!! got out of the most difficult wintering of 2014-15! shoots to the tips. Already now it stands in lush foliage against the backdrop of bald rose gardens. In wintering, it is consistently ideal! Pah-pah-pah a hundred times!

Rose of amazing beauty. On the website of David Austin, the growth of this rose is indicated as 8-10 f, which is 2.5 - 3 meters! And the best part is, it's true! In my arch, it has reached its length in three years and, hanging from a height, looks like a king!

Rosa is in her second year. It blooms for a week. There are 10 buds on a bush. Maybe I haven’t counted any more. The aroma is on the whole yard. The buds are strong, beautiful.
Blue for You (the site has a description of this rose) These two roses give so much
flavor that you just forget about everything else.

In addition to the official types of roses, there are unofficial groups, which include English roses, bred by the British breeder D. Austin. This specialist received several dozen varieties of the "Queen of Flowers", each of which is a real masterpiece. Rosa Golden Celebration is one of the best in D. Austin's collection. The popularity of this flowering perennial is high, as the plant tolerates any weather changes well, and its flowering does not worsen. But it should be remembered that when planting seedlings and further care For a rose, certain rules must be observed. About others positive qualities varieties, main characteristics, nuances of cultivation will be described below.

The history of the creation of the variety

D. Austin in the middle of the last century decided to "breathe" a second life into vintage varieties roses grown in the UK. He crossed them with modern climbing, tea varieties, as well as floribundas. In addition, another goal of this breeder was to create varieties with yellow and orange buds. And he succeeded - several dozen species of the “Queen of Flowers” with buds from pale yellow to peach and orange were presented to the court of flower growers.

A little later, at the end of the last century, the Golden Celebration rose was bred. Specialists from the British rose company David Austin Roses worked on its creation. Its working name was AUSgold. And a few years later this variety was patented in many European countries, this flowering perennial came to other continents.

Rosa Golden Celebration

The description of the variety states that the Celebration rose was obtained by crossing the varieties Charles Austin and Abraham Darby. In a relatively short period of its existence, the Golden Celebration rose has repeatedly received prizes and diplomas at the most prestigious international exhibitions.

Characteristics and features of the variety

This blooming perennial shrub strong and fairly sprawling, its height is 1.4-1.5 m, in diameter the bush can reach the same size. Shoots are powerful, slightly drooping. In warm regions, stems park rose Celebrations stretch very strongly during the season, so they are grown there as climbers. Another plus of the plant is the average number of thorns on the shoots. The leaf plates are quite rigid, compacted, rich emerald in color, with a characteristic gloss on the upper part of the foliage.

For your information! For the beautiful shape of the bushes, the Golden Celebration rose received a diploma at one of the international rose exhibitions.

The main pride of this flowering perennial is the buds that bloom on the shoots. The color of these flowers is unusual, it can be compared with an orange egg yolk, which is joined by pink and peach shades in the form of small confluent dots. As a result, the color of the petals is copper with golden. The diameter of a blossoming bud is up to 14-14.5 cm, which is quite large for rose bushes. Moreover, there are few varieties of roses with such a shade in the Austin collection.

On the shoot, these buds are usually collected in racemose inflorescences, slightly drooping under their own weight. The flowering of this shrub is repeated, the first wave of which is the most abundant. The buds begin to bloom on the Golden Celebration rose in the first decade of June, and flowering ends in the last decade of October.

Buds Golden Celebration

The sweetish-fruity aroma of blossoming buds is very persistent, well felt.

Frost resistance of this perennial is average, but resistance to powdery mildew and black spot - high. This variety perfectly tolerates heat and short-term rainfall, without stopping abundant flowering.

Agricultural technology

This plant does not tolerate shade well, and its flowers quickly fade under the hot midday sun, so best site for them, one where the sun illuminates the bushes in the morning and evening hours, and during the day the rose falls into light partial shade from a building, hedge or fruit trees.

The place for planting bushes should be protected from gusts of cold wind and strong drafts. The site for planting is prepared in advance, preferably in the fall: manure or other organic matter (compost or humus) must be brought in for digging. In the spring, the site is again dug up and complex mineral fertilizers.

Important! The soil should not be too acidic, so before planting, you can add 1 tbsp. wood ash.

Seedlings can be planted in open ground in spring or autumn period. It is better for novice flower growers to plant this rose in the spring so that it takes root and gets stronger over the summer, and in the fall such a gardener may not guess the time of planting, the plant does not acclimatize in a new place and freezes in winter.

Plant planting material follows in the second decade of May. The depth of the planting holes should be at least 0.4 m, as the roots grow very quickly and go deep into the soil. The root neck is deepened into the soil by 2.5-3 cm. If it is too deep, the bush will be reborn into a dog rose and may not bloom at all.

rose seedlings

After planting, the soil should be well compacted so that the seedling does not stagger, otherwise the bush will not be able to take root well.

This flowering shrub requires good care if the gardener does everything wrong, he may not wait for abundant flowering.

The main requirements for the care of this variety:

  • compliance with the irrigation regime;
  • loosening the soil while removing weeds;
  • mulching trunk circle after watering;
  • regular fertilization throughout the season;
  • shrub pruning in spring period and after the end of flowering (if necessary).

The following watering regimen should be observed:

  • bushes irrigate 1 time in 3-4 days;
  • in hot weather, the amount of watering is increased;
  • in the rainy season, moisten less frequently.

Note! The rate of single watering for young bushes is 7-8 liters, for adult plants - 2 times more.

After each watering, the soil should be loosened, all weeds removed and a layer of mulch added - humus, sawdust or grass.

Feeding roses

Feed these flowering bushes follows several times per season. In the spring, mineral fertilizers containing nitrogen are applied under the plants, since this trace element contributes to the active growth of the vegetative mass. As soon as the first buds appear on the shoots, top dressing should be applied again. During this period, fertilizers that contain phosphorus and potassium will go well, and nitrogen fertilizing is excluded, otherwise stems and foliage will actively grow on the bushes to the detriment of abundant flowering.

During the flowering period, potassium-phosphorus fertilizers are once again applied, and at the end of it, before the onset of cold weather, the rose bushes are fed for the last time, adding superphosphate and potassium salt.

In the spring, before the appearance of young foliage, sanitary pruning is carried out. It is necessary to remove all damaged, diseased, frozen and dried shoots. This procedure activates the growth of the shrub. In summer, excess young shoots growing inside the bush should be removed to avoid thickening, as well as fading buds. Autumn pruning is carried out as needed.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

The main advantages of this plant include:

  • high resistance to fungal diseases;
  • repeated abundant flowering;
  • high vigor of shoot growth.

Important! The buds of this rose can change color depending on where they grow: in partial shade, the petals acquire a rich copper color, and under bright sunbeams become pale yellow.

Disadvantages flowering plant not much: they do not tolerate a long rainy period, require good hiding place for the winter, as their frost resistance is below average.

But in general, the Golden Celebration rose can be grown not only in the warm regions of Russia, but also in the Moscow region and other areas with a similar climate. Even a beginner will cope with this if you follow the recommendations presented above.
