Valve balancing. Installing a balancing valve for the heating system. Balancing valve in a private house

The larger the heating system, the more difficult it is to ensure uniform distribution of heat to all rooms without exception, no matter how far from its source they are. To temperature regime was uniform, into the heating network for different areas embed mechanisms to regulate heat flow. The most common and effective of them is the balancing valve in the heating system.

    Show all

    general characteristics

    There are several types of methods by which heat flow is regulated. In the first of them, pipes of different diameters are used to regulate the volume of coolant passing through the radiators. Another one is based on the use of special washers that correct the passage of the amount of heated water needed in this area.

    A detailed description of these methods is not of interest, since they are already outdated and are not used. A modern mechanism for adjusting the supply of coolant is the installation for heating balancing valve, consisting of:

    • durable brass body, equipped with pipes for connecting pipes, with a saddle located inside in the form of a special vertical channel;
    • a cone-shaped spindle screwed into the seat body to adjust the flow of the coolant;
    • rubber sealing rings;
    • plastic (less often - a metal cap).

    The main part of the device - two special fittings responsible for:

    • determination of intrasystem pressure on both sides of the valve;
    • capillary tube connection.

    Each of the fittings has a pressure meter, and in case of a difference in values, it is necessary to calculate the rational amount of water flow.

    Operating principle

    The principle of operation of the balancing valve in the heating system is to adjust the cross section of the through hole for the coolant inside the pipeline. With the help of the working elements of the valve, it is possible to adjust the heating system at any time without stopping its operation, to achieve a comfortable thermal regime in heated rooms with minimal energy consumption.

    Rotation of the adjusting handle causes the spindle to move up or down, respectively opening or closing the through hole in the pipe or reducing its cross section. Reducing the cross section of the through hole creates an obstacle to the movement of water, artificially increasing the flow rate. As a result, water reaches the remote circuits faster and with less heat loss. This ensures uniform heating of all rooms.

    With constant changes in operating pressure, it is important to ensure reliable tightness of the connections inside the valve. For the product of spindle o-rings use:

    • fluoroplast;
    • dense rubber;
    • metal.

    Valve types

    There are two types of valves: manual and automatic. Each of them has its own advantages. Manual balancing valve is more suitable for heating pipelines small sizes with stable pressure, usually installed in individual residential buildings and apartments. Here, balancing valves are installed on each radiator.

    In addition to the individual configuration of each battery, if necessary, such a configuration provides repair individual elements systems without turning it off completely. Another advantage of a manual valve over an automatic valve is its lower cost.

    Automatic faucet

    Automatic devices for adjusting the supply of coolant are much more expensive than manual valves. They are installed on the risers of heating systems apartment buildings, administrative buildings or industrial premises.

    The principle of operation of the automatic valve is not the same as that of a mechanical crane. With manual adjustment, the amount of coolant passing through the pipe per unit time depends on the flow area, which is set using the valve.

    And in automatic system valve is permanently set to maximum flow water; the pressure and quantity of the coolant supplied to the pipeline is regulated by means of thermostats and capillary tubes installed on the radiators.

    Balancing valve installation

    Each balancing valve has an arrow on the body that indicates in which direction the fluid should move inside the body in order to minimize turbulence that affects the correct settings. The arrow serves as a guide when mounting the mechanism on the pipeline.

    The device is installed on straight sections of pipes so that the length of the flat part of the pipe in front of the valve is at least five of its diameters and at least two at the outlet. You need to mount it in the return branch of the system, for this you only need a plumbing adjustable wrench.

    During installation work several rules must be followed. First, a mandatory check is carried out, followed by flushing and cleaning the pipeline from the possible presence of metal chips or other foreign objects in it.

    If the device has a removable head, it must be removed before installation, following the instructions. This makes it easier to install the valve. Then one end of the tap is screwed onto the pipe. The other end is connected to the radiator through a coupling. To seal the thread, it is necessary to use flax fiber threads impregnated with a special lubricant.

    Setting methods

    After installing the balancing valve in the heating system, it must be set to energy-saving mode. To do this, each valve is supplied with instructions for calculating the optimal number of revolutions of the handle. The valve can be adjusted in two ways.

    Professionals use a simple and time-tested method. By dividing the number of valve turns by the number of radiators, they determine the corrective step for each valve. So, if the spindle speed is 4.5, and the number of radiators is 10, then the step is determined by 0.45 turns. The system will be optimally adjusted if each valve, starting from the last radiator, is open plus 0.45 turns.

    For a faster and more accurate second method, it is necessary to use a contact type thermometer. To adjust, you will need to heat the system to 80 degrees with all valves open and measure the temperature of each radiator separately. Temperature discrepancy is eliminated by screwing the first and middle taps. Usually 1.5 turns are enough for the first valve, and 2.5 turns for the middle ones. After allowing the system to adapt, after half an hour to make control measurements.

    The use of both methods eliminates temperature differentiation when heating radiators and promotes uniform heating of all rooms with a minimum consumption of thermal energy.

    The installation of balancing valves in the heating system ensures uniform heating of all rooms without exception and economical consumption energy resources. This is especially necessary for large heating systems. This device best of all helps to distribute the coolant along its contours. But the technology of installation work should be considered even when designing the heating system, since the quality of the valve operation depends on its correct installation and configuration.

The efficient operation of the heating system is largely determined by its balance. It allows you to prevent the likelihood of situations where an excess amount of coolant is supplied to one radiator, while an insufficient amount is supplied to the other. To do this, the heating system must include Danfoss balancing valves, the principle of operation of which allows hydraulic balancing (coupling) of coolant flows through various elements of the heating system or stabilizing circulation pressures or temperatures in them.

If necessary, it is possible to install pipeline throttling fittings from other manufacturers, which will eliminate the instability of the heating system, difficult start-up of the system, uneven distribution of the coolant and the resulting uneven heating of the premises.

What kind of valves are there?

Balancing valves are usually divided into:

  • automatic (dynamic), which are able to maintain a constant pressure drop in the risers of a two-pipe or flow in the risers of a single-pipe heating system;
  • manual (static), which can be used as an adjusting diaphragm, in those systems where there is no automatic control device or the installed regulator does not allow limiting the flow rate. They belong to valve type devices.

Brass balancing valve

It should be noted that all modern systems heating, in which radiator thermostats are used, are dynamic systems. As a result of operation, the radiator thermostat constantly responds to the slightest changes in the air temperature in the room, thereby changing the flow rate of the coolant, which brings the heating system into a constantly changing (dynamic) mode of operation. This mode of operation necessitates the use of automatic (dynamic) balancing valves.
Also, valves are usually classified depending on:

  • working medium used: water, glycol solution, steam;
  • parameters of the working environment: pressure, flow, temperature;
  • installation locations: supply or return pipeline, bypass;
  • type of building (single-apartment or public);
  • operating function, providing for the regulation of pressure, temperature, flow of the working medium. A combination of them is also possible;
  • type of connection, which can be threaded or flanged.

For the manufacture of valves can be used various materials. Static valves are usually made of brass (may be flanged and threaded connection) or cast iron (only flange connection). In the manufacture of dynamic products, brass, cast iron or carbon steel can be used to ensure the required technical characteristics.

For convenience of regulation of the valve can be completed:

  • fixed position lock;
  • shutter position indicator and setting value;
  • branch pipe for drainage of the area where the valve is mounted
  • measuring diaphragm, which allows for high-precision determination of the flow rate;
  • nozzles for measuring the flow rate of the coolant, pressure and pressure drop across the valve.

Valve principle

The main difference between a balancing valve and a shut-off valve is that it can work when the shutter is in an intermediate position. It should be noted that the design of the balancing valve may be different. There are valves in which the stem is located at an angle relative to the flow, and the spool is made not only straight, but also cylindrical, conical or radial. Consider the principle of operation of a valve having a straight stem and a flat spool.

Straight stem valve

During operation of the valve, the flow area between the spool-seat pair changes. Due to this, the balance of the system is achieved. The spool is located in a plane parallel to the axis of the pipeline. While in a plane located perpendicular to the perpendicular axis of the pipeline, there is a threaded spindle, to which the spool is pivotally connected. In the valve body there is a fixed threaded nut, which together with the spindle forms a running pair.

Due to the rotation of the setting handle, the torque is transmitted through the spindle and the fixed threaded nut associated with it, as a result of which the spool is given a translational movement, as a result of which it moves from the lowest to the highest position. Being in the lowest position, the spool is tightly connected to the seat in the valve body, thereby hermetically blocking the flow.

Depending on the type of coolant used, the hermetic shutoff of the flow is ensured by the use of a seal between the valve and the seat, created by fluoroplastic or rubber rings or metal-to-metal. As a result of changing the flow area, the capacity of the balancing valve changes, which is understood as a value numerically equal to the flow, expressed in m³ / h, through a fully open valve, at which the head loss will be 1 bar. Dependence of throughput on changing the position of the shutter can be seen in technical specifications valve.

BALLOREX valves

The Polish company BROEN BALLOREX in its Venturi series is engaged in the production of a manual balancing valve with high control accuracy. Such a valve is a valve that performs two functions:

  • valves with manual adjustment;
  • shut-off ball valve.

It allows balancing and hydraulic regulation, flow limitation, opening and closing of the flow of the working medium in the system, as well as measuring the temperature of the working medium and flow using a standard flow meter. It can be purchased in various designs. The range of these valves is available with nominal diameters from DN 15 to DN 200 and nominal pressures PN 16 Var and PN 25 Var. Valves with a nominal diameter from DN 15 to DN 50 and a pressure of 16 Var have a flange connection, and valves with a pressure of PN 25 Var have a threaded connection.

Valve BROEN BALLOREX

All balancing valves and their elements (valve body, measuring diaphragm, shut-off ball, adjusting stem) with a nominal diameter from DN 15 to DN 50 are made of chrome-plated brass. And balancing valves with a nominal diameter from DN 65 to DN 200 are made of steel with a flange or threaded connection.

Valves of the Venturi series with the same conditional passage are produced with different throughputs depending on the type of execution: high (H), standard (S) and low (L). In addition, the Venturi series is available in two types Venturi FODRV and Venturi DRV these valves have flow control measuring nipples. All valves of this company can be installed in any position on any section of the pipeline before or immediately after the branch, before or after the narrowing of the pipeline.

Also, this Polish company offers automatic balancing valves in various modifications. Ballorex DP valves are installed on the return pipeline, providing the necessary pressure drop on the circulation ring under any load. This makes it possible to stage-by-stage commissioning of the object due to the possibility of zonal balancing. The use of Ballorex DP makes it possible to eliminate noise phenomena caused by overpressure created in other parts of the heating system.

Valves from the Danish manufacturer

Another manufacturer is the Danish company Danfoss, which supplies valves of all types, which are of high quality. MSV-BD LENO™ manual valves are a new generation of valves. They allow you to solve problems of hydraulic balancing of heating systems. At the same time, they combine the functions of a standard manual valve and a ball valve, thus providing a quick and complete shut-off of the flow. Most models allow you to take data at the outlet and inlet, however, some models have a nipple on one side only.

Automatic valve ASV-M

Automatic ASV-M, the price of which allows us to talk about the optimal ratio of price and quality, can be used as a shut-off valve and, if necessary, to connect the impulse pipe from ASV-P(V). ASV-I. It allows you to limit the maximum flow rate of the transported coolant. The valve is completed with special plugs for measuring nipples. By installing nipples, you can measure the flow rate of the coolant that flows through a specific section of the system.

ASV series valves are of high quality. They allow you to maintain a constant pressure difference between the supply and return pipelines. The ASV-P, installed on the return line, is characterized by a fixed setting of 10 kPa. Whereas ASV-PV has a measurable setting of 5-25kPa and ASV-PV Plus is 20-40kPa.

How is the installation carried out?

When performing installation, it is very important to ensure the correct position of the valve. In this case, the arrow on the body must coincide with the direction of movement of the coolant. This position will ensure not only the necessary design resistance valve, but also the required flow. At the same time, it is worth noting that some manufacturers allow the possibility of installing the valve not only in the direction, but also against the flow. The stem, in this case, in most models, can occupy a different spatial position.

During the installation process, it is worth protecting the working bodies of the fittings from the ingress of various mechanical contaminants. To do this, a sump or a special filter must be installed in front of the valve. To eliminate the turbulent movement of the liquid, it is necessary to provide straight sections of sufficient length before and after the valve. This requirement must be indicated in the documentation for the valve.

A heating system equipped with a balancing valve must be filled in a special way. To do this, in systems equipped with dynamic valves, it is imperative to provide filling fittings, which must be located in the immediate vicinity of the valve on the return pipeline. And the valves mounted on the supply pipeline must be prudently closed. To adjust the balancing valve, a special flow meter or differential pressure and flow tables are used. However, in any case, the initial calculation is carried out at the stage of calculating the heating system.

When designing heating systems, it is important to take into account a lot of features. It is necessary not only to select suitable pipes, but also service equipment that can protect the system from overloads and stabilize its functioning in a wide variety of conditions.

- a product that deals with just such tasks. A balancing valve is needed when organizing heating pipelines and, less often, hot water supply. About him now and will be discussed.

Purpose and functions

Many people are directly interested in what this faucet or valve is actually needed for. What functions does it perform?

This question can only be answered by first considering the conditions in heating systems.

A standard heating system constantly drives media through its pipes from one node to another. The main heating is carried out by supplying the carrier to radiators or other similar systems. The radiator, if there is enough liquid inside and normal temperature, gives off heat to the room with great efficiency.

However, this is how the piping system operates under conditions close to ideal. Unfortunately, ideal conditions are often unattainable or partially achievable.

In a pipeline with constantly heated water, the pressure level and the temperature of the carrier may change. This leads to an uneven distribution of flow through the pipes. Which, of course, I would like to avoid.

One pipe in the end receive more heat, others less. For a heating system, this scenario is the worst. That's what a balancing valve or faucet is used for.

Its task is to automatically control the level of pressure and heating of the carrier, as well as adjust its supply in case of changes in the above parameters.

The crane is easy to set up, it works due to a simple spring and several additional elements. At the same time, it performs a truly titanic work, cutting off individual branches of the system into logical parts and controlling the state in them.

On large pipelines, one crane will not solve the problem, you will have to install them in larger numbers. But trust me, it's worth it.

There are a lot of such products on the market from different manufacturers. The most popular brands are Stremaks, Cimberio, Stad and others. They have been holding their positions in the market for many years.

General principle of operation and design

The standard balancing valve is very similar to the pipeline valve, only it has a few differences.

This is also a fitting, but a fitting designed not to completely cover the system (although some models of Stremaks, Cimberio, Stad can do such things in addition to standard balancing) but to regulate it.

Balancing valves are based on a special spring, which is adjusted by turning two knobs. Handles affect its rigidity. The stiffer the spring, the more pressure she can endure.

The interaction of the spring with the nominal pressure level makes it possible to easily control the flow force in the pipe, while taking into account its additional characteristics.

All mechanisms are sealed with rubber gaskets. Near the spring is equipped with a cartridge that simplifies the operation of the valve. The flow is closed by the movement of the spool towards the fitting. The spool, most often, is also controlled by the action of the spring.

In advanced models such as Stremaks, Cimberio and Stad, you can set the boundary conditions for the valve, under which it will completely close or open the flow.

Using flowmeters

Sometimes valves are equipped with a flowmeter. Using a flow meter gives us several benefits, including the ability to:

  • follow the flow
  • fine tuning;
  • automation of the regulation process.

In the same time valves with a flow meter are quite expensive, and can cost you at least several times more than regular ones.

As a rule, if the device is equipped with a flow meter, then it belongs to the highest class of fittings, therefore, automation will also be installed on it.

There are also advanced valves that operate entirely due to electronic components, capable of self-assessment of the situation, equipped with sensors and controlled from a single center. IN civil engineering such solutions are almost never used due to high cost.

Types and differences

To a large extent, they repeat the design of each other. The main division occurs due to several details.

First of all, they are divided according to the type of drive or control into:

  1. Manual.
  2. Automatic.

The former need manual adjustment and control, the latter are complete automata, mostly capable of organizing into a single system. The price difference between them is very significant.

Equally important is the presence of additional details. Cranes are often equipped:

  • flow meter;
  • sensors;
  • automation;
  • protection;

There are too many variations. You just need to understand that it is not necessary to buy the most expensive and fancy option. It is quite possible that you will not need the same pressure gauge or flowmeter at all. And he's worth the money.

Connection methods

Another thing to pay attention to is the way the balancing valves are connected.

This connection must be reliable, but at the same time mobile. That is, it is necessary to be able to remove the device at any time, replace it or repair it. The best option in this case - the flange method.

Flanged connection method is widely used in industry. The flanged valve is equipped with its own flanges and is connected to the same mating products at the ends of the pipes.

The flanged valve is easy to install with just a few bolts, it can be removed just as quickly, but it has one important feature. It is implied that flange valve in the presence of a collapsible assembly, it has an amazing level of tightness.

A flanged faucet does not need to be tightened or inspected from time to time, the chances of the flanges coming loose is extremely low, provided you have done the installation correctly.

Top Producers

The choice of manufacturer, of course, also affects the quality of the product. In today's market, leaders have long been known. These include companies producing cranes Stremaks, Cimberio, Stad and others.

The Austrian company Herz is engaged in the production of Stremaks cranes designed for a wide variety of tasks. Their advantages are reliability and practicality at a convenient price. Shtremax cranes do not fail their owner, which plays a big role in the heating system.

Cimberio cranes from Italian manufacturer are no less popular. Cimberio valves are presented on the market with a large number of models, which allows the buyer to confidently make his choice based on a wide catalog base.

Stad taps and valves are top quality products. The Stad crane is a benchmark in technical and engineering thought. The company produces them in small quantities, but each option is extremely versatile and easy to use.

As you can see, different manufacturers and brands have their own charms. All of them provide products of the highest quality, the reason for this is their many years of being on the market as leaders. Therefore, the final choice will fall on your shoulders.

Good day to everyone who reads this post! In it I will tell you about balancing valves for heating systems. To begin with, we will understand why a balancing valve is needed in the heating system.

Why do you need a balancing valve?

In modern large heating systems, uneven heating is often observed. different rooms. This is due to the different flow rate of the coolant through the branches of the heating system. coolant (as electricity) tries to flow along the path of least resistance, therefore, at a great distance from the heat source (heating unit or boiler), the flow rate should be less than near it. In order to equalize the flow rate of the coolant through different branches and use balancing valves.

As can be seen from the upper figure, the flow rate in heating circuits of different lengths will be different and the temperature in the rooms will also be very different. Now let's talk about the types of balancing valves.

Types of balancing valves.

Balancing valves are of two main types:

Danfoss has done very interesting video about the operation of manual balancing valves. I recommend that you watch this video from start to finish. It shows unexpected patterns of operation of this type of valve:

From the figure it can be seen that the internal structure of the automatic balancing valve resembles a piston pressure reducer, but the functions of these devices are completely different. I bring to your attention two videos on this topic:

To simplify the adjustment of heating systems, special measuring instruments are connected to the balancing valves, which simplify and speed up the balancing of the system. Look at the picture below:

Installation of balancing valves.

The installation of the balancing valve is carried out in exactly the same way as the installation of ball valves. The position of the valve in space does not affect its operation, but you need to pay attention to the arrow that indicates the recommended flow direction. If it is mixed up, then the valve will create more resistance to the flow of the coolant. Valves can be installed both on supply and return pipelines.

Working temperature and pressure may vary depending on specific model, so the selection of the equipment you need is best done using manufacturers' catalogs. You can find them on the official websites of manufacturers.

Summary.

The installation of balancing valves is necessary in large heating systems. They allow you to optimally distribute the coolant over all circuits. For the operation of such equipment, it is important correct installation and subsequent setup. Consideration should be given to the installation of valves at the design stage of the system. That's all, I'm waiting for your questions in the comments!

The desire to have an economical and, at the same time, an ideal heating system in all directions, is desirable for everyone. In life, this happens, unfortunately, not always.

It is enough for designers to make a mistake in the hydraulic or thermal calculation, and additional costs for the heating system are provided.

Incorrectly selected heating fittings will also contribute. In order for the heating system to perform its functions reliably and correctly, in the arsenal of heat engineers there are various ways achieving this goal.

  • The need for balancing
  • Types of cranes
  • Principle of operation
  • Installation

The need for balancing

The design of the heating system assumes that at each heating point the heater will give the right amount of heat. Unfortunately, this is not always the case in practice.

This pattern is especially noticeable in multi-storey buildings. Often there is such a picture when the lower floors are literally suffocating from the heat, and at the same time, the batteries on the upper floors are slightly warm.

The same situation arises with heating entrances. It is much warmer in the one located closer to the entrance to the DHW house.

Such a difference in temperature difference is explained by the fact that the closer the heating radiator to the input hot water the more heat it receives. Naturally, he gives. Remote heaters receive less heat, so they are colder. This means that the hydraulic adjustment of the system is broken. The balance equilibrium of heat distribution has disappeared.

There are few reasons for system imbalance. The main ones are:

  • errors in the installation of the system;
  • an error in the project or its change;
  • airing the system;
  • mismanagement of the heating system;
  • ignoring seasonal service.

There is a need to adjust it to restore uniform heating. As a result of this work, each heater will receive the calculated amount of heat. The temperature regime will even out, the whole house will be equally warm. Balancing valves are used to achieve this goal.

It is worth noting: the installation of a balancing system will ensure uniform heating of each heater in the house.

Balancing valves are divided into automatic and manual.

Manual ones are designed to set up the network during its installation, and automatic ones change the parameters of the heating network during its operation.

When selecting a valve, it is necessary to take into account many parameters, which include:

  • type and parameters of the coolant;
  • classification of buildings;
  • adjustment parameters;
  • installation location in the system;
  • purpose of the system.

Types of heating systems depend on the coolant that they use. It can be water, steam, antifreeze. The performance of the system will directly depend on them.

Of great importance is the type of building where the balancing valve will be installed. The location of the valve is also important - the supply and return pipelines have very wide differences between themselves. Therefore, the balancing devices installed on them will also differ.

The purpose of the system is very important. According to their characteristics, the systems of hot and cold water supply and heating have quite large discrepancies. For example, in a DHW system, only thermostatic balancing valves are used. Thus, the choice of balancing valve is not a simple matter as it seems at first.

Master's advice: before installing a balancing valve, you must first decide on its choice. Maybe this is where it is enough to install a manual balancing valve.

The device of the valve is clearly visible in the figure. But what is the principle of its work, this must be understood.

Turning the adjusting knob changes the position of the valve spool. As a result, the size of the section between it and the saddle changes.

Thus, the coolant, passing through a large or small section of the valve, changes its pressure, as the throughput changes. Thus, by adjusting the pressure, it is possible to achieve a uniform distribution of heat for each heating device.

For automatic adjustment for heat distribution, two balancing valves are installed in the system - on the inlet circuit and in the return. They are interconnected. The balancing effect of the system will take place automatically.

But for this, it will be necessary at the very beginning, at the first start, to properly adjust and configure the entire heating system. If all the manufacturer's requirements are met, the balancing equipment works flawlessly.

Please note: some mistakenly, on the advice of the local Kulibins, try to install a ball valve instead of a balancing valve. The absurdity of such an idea becomes apparent immediately after the system is launched. The valve does not belong to the control valves on any side.

The tie-in rules are simple, but you must follow them all. Otherwise, the desired effect will not be achieved.

Performing the installation, you must do the following operations:

  • check the installation of the system;
  • cut the thread at the valve installation site;
  • prepare the valve for installation;
  • install the valve in its place in the system;
  • install a filter in front of the valve.

After installing the balancing valve, it must be adjusted. This process is available only to specialists, requires special equipment and knowledge.

Please note: you should not even try to do the installation of a heating balancing system with your own hands. In the best case, the system will not give the expected effect, in the worst case, the heating system will have to be redone.

Control valves are produced by several manufacturers. Among them, one of the leading places belongs to such well-known companies as Danfoss (Danfoss), Broen, Meibes. The list could go on.

Wide choose allows you to focus on price and quality. Such parameters as quality and reliability provide the consumer with not only comfort, but also significant savings in the long run.

The principle of operation of the balancing valve in the heating system

Many people know what a balancing valve is and how it looks. But not everyone knows how it works.

Scope of the valve

This valve (cock) is intended for hydraulic balancing of hydraulic circuits (heating, engineering system etc.). The valve can perfectly control the allowable flow rate on heat carriers, thereby significantly increasing the efficiency of heating systems.

Balancing taps are used to ensure that the entire distribution of heating occurs throughout the water supply. With the help of a valve, all heat costs are normalized in such a way that all the necessary hot liquid comes to the batteries in the amount in which it is needed. It is thanks to the balancing valve that heat is distributed evenly throughout all rooms of the building.

This valve can work with quite strong pressure drops and high speed of the working medium, which cannot be said about other cranes.

Valve design

The design of the valve is based on the design of the ball valve and has certain additions. These may include an indicator for the shutter, a measuring diaphragm, a position lock, a branch pipe (a valve is installed on its surface). The faucet body itself can be made either from steel, or from silumin, or from brass. The sealant is usually membrane system. These sealed taps are much more expensive, but they do not require maintenance.

The valve plug and seat are responsible for fluid flow. As for the valve stem, it can be descending, rising, oblique, straight. When buying a balancing valve, you must also take into account the peculiarity of the stem.

The stem, which has an oblique shape, has less flow resistance than other similar valves. Such balancing valves have a sufficiently high control clarity and excellent flow characteristics.

Key features of the valve

In addition to the fact that this valve can perfectly regulate the heating flow, it also has a number of additional settings and devices. So, for example, the valve can regulate the smooth/stepped flow adjustment, block the presets, as well as regulate the operation of the temperature fuse and the bypass valve.

Video: Automatic balancing valves - how it works and how it benefits you

All balancing valves (regardless of their type) have the following characteristics:

The operating temperature of the faucet can be from -20 to + 120 degrees, - the faucet has a minimum length that is necessary for installation, - information is calculated directly, without the use of additional devices, - does not take excess weight, because has a compact size

Made from durable metal, which will not lead to deformation in the future.

Balancing valves are required in every heating system. Depending on how large the area for heating is mounted required amount valves for correct operation systems. The use of the necessary balancing equipment directly depends on what type of heating system is used in the room.

What is a balancing valve for a heating system

Any type of heating system requires some adjustment or balancing. The purpose of this process is to bring the coolant flow in each of the heating branches to the calculated parameter so that each radiator receives enough heat for stable operation.

Previously, differences in pipe diameters were used, regulated this moment using washers that could provide the required amount of fluid to flow. However, today all these tools are outdated - they have been replaced by a balancing valve, which looks very similar to a standard valve.

In its design, it is additionally equipped with two fittings that perform the following functions:

  1. Measure the pressure in front of the valve and immediately after it;
  2. A capillary tube can be connected to them so that it can interact with a number of other control valves.

This device has whole line positive characteristics:

  • Allows you to significantly reduce costs. People who have installed such devices say that after carrying out such work, the amount of fuel used is significantly reduced;
  • It becomes much more comfortable to be in the room. It turns out that in each room you can get the temperature regime that will be more suitable for it;
  • Most of the difficulties that arise in the process of starting the system disappear. This process becomes quite simple.

If the battery does not have a thermostatic valve, then a balancing device cannot be dispensed with. They always put it only on the return pipe, and this is done where it comes to the common line. With a small number of radiators in the house - about 5 pieces, this device allows you to fine-tune everything.

For a larger number of radiators, this system will not work, since some radiators will heat up more than necessary, others less. As a result, the balance will be upset.

In order to ensure normal operation in this case, a differential pressure regulator is installed immediately after the balancing valve, they are connected to each other using a capillary tube. The valve is adjusted to the highest flow rate, and when the hot water consumption decreases, the pressure in the pipes will begin to increase.

The capillary tube of the differential pressure controller will correct the flow. As a result, the system will be able to maintain its balance in terms of hydraulics.

Balancing valves VIR 9505 for heating and cooling systems

Balancing valve designed for use in heating system a private house, is a device that is not too complicated in terms of installation, so it is quite possible to install it yourself. It should be noted that it is necessary to ensure correct position.

There is an arrow on the valve body that indicates the direction of water flow. Therefore, you need to put it in the same position as shown on the valve. As a result of this action, it is possible to obtain the required indicator of the design resistance and the required coolant flow rate.

It is worth noting that some manufacturers produce universal devices that can be mounted as you like. The balancing valve must be free of any contamination before installation. In addition, various impurities can also pass inside the heating system. In this regard, two filters will need to be placed in front of the tap - coarse and medium.

To prevent turbulence in the system, it is necessary to make small straight pipe sections before and after the valve. Often, the manufacturer provides similar requirements in the instructions for the valve.

You need to install the valve using some specific rules. In particular, it is necessary to fill the system with a coolant, if there is a balancing valve in its design, using a special technology. To do this, you will have to install filling fittings in the system.

This is quite suitable for designs equipped with dynamic valves. They are placed as close as possible to the valve, closer to the heating boiler on the return pipe. The supply pipeline must first be shut off.

The instructions for a valve operating in automatic mode contain a special table that indicates the pressure drop and the corresponding flow rate. However, all preliminary calculations should be done before installation work.

Connecting a faucet with automation

There are a lot of manufacturers of balancing valves, high-quality products are manufactured by Danfoss. This Russian manufacturer, therefore, such products are not too expensive - 2300 rubles. They are made from of stainless steel or duralumin.

Among foreign manufacturers, Italian products of the Giacomini brand are the most popular. Universal among these valves is the R206C model. We can say that these products are the best in the world. In this regard, they have such a high cost - at least 5,000 rubles.

Another Russian company produces valves that are equipped on both sides with all the necessary filters. Despite the fact that the product is of quite high quality and also has filters in its kit, the cost of Watts valves is not too high - only 1,500 rubles.

Balancing valve in the heating system: its purpose, installation and features

Most modern users perceive the heating system as a set of pipes and radiators, complemented by a heating boiler and a circulation pump. But such an opinion is erroneous. It also contains a number of auxiliary components, without which the heating operation, to put it mildly, would not be of very high quality. One of these elements is a balancing valve or valve.

Purpose

The balancing valve in the heating system is used to properly distribute heat transfer. That is, there are times when in one room the batteries are hotter than required, and in the other - much colder than we would like. That is, there is an incorrect distribution of the coolant. So, an adjustment is required to correct this situation.

The balancing valve is a kind stop valves, through which the hydraulic resistance is regulated. This is achieved by changing the diameter of the pipe section in a certain area.

IN Lately when designing heating (both for an apartment building and for a private house), a balancing valve is immediately added to the system. However, what should owners of ready-made heating systems do?

There are several "symptoms" that indicate the need to install this type of shut-off valves:

  • Absence comfortable temperature even at maximum load.
  • Significant temperature fluctuations in the room with a constantly equal load in the heating system.
  • Difficulties when starting the system - the impossibility of reaching the rated power.

All this indicates that it is required to install a balancing valve and carry out regulation. It will allow you to adjust the flow of the amount of coolant to a particular section of the system.

Benefits of using

Installing a balancing valve will help solve the above problems in the operation of heating.

In addition, the following advantages of using this equipment can be distinguished:

  • Cost reduction - that is, the owners of private houses note that after balancing the system, the amount of fuel consumed is reduced.
  • Increasing indoor comfort - you can achieve the temperature level that is more suitable for each individual room.
  • No difficulties during start-up - the use of balancing fittings will make it as easy as possible to start the system.
