High water pressure installations. Pumps for increasing water pressure

Often water supply systems have insufficient pressure, which complicates not only the adoption water procedures, but also the operation of auxiliary household appliances. For example, the correct operation of a washing machine or shower may be disrupted. To get out of this situation, you have to use a pump to increase the water pressure. In an apartment or house in such situations, it is indispensable.

Many residents of houses and apartments experience low water pressure

Devices that increase pressure in the water supply system are small structures with an engine operating from a conventional electrical network. Installation of the device is carried out by inserting into the pipeline. During operation, torque from the rotor is transferred to the impeller, which creates additional pressure.

All products can be divided according to the control method:

  • manual devices are switched by a person during operation for a certain amount of time;
  • automatic devices switch independently, as they have a special sensor.

Another classifying feature is the type of cooling;

  • models with a wet rotor operate almost silently, as they pass liquid directly through themselves;
  • products with a dry rotor create noise during operation, but are more productive.

Note! Before purchasing a pump to increase water pressure in an apartment or residential building, you must also consider allowable temperature working environment. However, there are also universal devices that operate over a wide range.

Requirements for the device

If the problem associated with insufficient pressure in the water supply system is solved by using a special pump, then you should understand what requirements are placed on it. Basically they come down to this:

  • uninterrupted operation;
  • optimal pressure working fluid;
  • affordable price;
  • required performance.

Note! If the water does not reach the upper floors of an apartment or private house at all, then it is recommended to purchase a special station instead of a conventional pump. The necessary pressure is created in them.

Various models of pumps to increase water pressure: prices and manufacturers

High-quality devices that can serve well for many years are produced by trusted manufacturers. In this regard, it is proposed to study the prices of pump models from well-known brands. The following products are popular in the modern market.

Model Wilo PB-088EA

Of all the water pressure booster pumps, Willo PB-088 EA can be considered the most suitable for home use. The device is installed on a pipeline with a working medium of up to 60 degrees. It is low noise, so its operation is quite comfortable. The device can operate in two modes at once - automatic and manual.

The productivity of the device is 2.1 cubic meters. m in one hour. You can buy it in a specialized store for about 3500-4000 rubles.

Note! It is impossible to buy a high-quality pump to increase water pressure for a small amount of money. If the cost of the product is much less than the minimum amount indicated in the table, then it is better to refuse to purchase the product.

How to install a pump to increase water pressure in an apartment or house

It is quite possible to carry out the installation of the device yourself. However, it is still necessary to familiarize yourself with the basic principles of installation in order to avoid catastrophic mistakes. Refusal to involve professional workers will save on installation.

Familiarization with the installation process

When installing a pump to increase water pressure in a house or apartment, a small piece of pipe is cut out at the inlet part of the water supply system. The device itself is connected directly to the two ends. If the pipes are made of plastic, you may need a special soldering iron.

The device must be inserted between the cut pipes

When connecting to a pipeline, you can confuse the direction of water movement through the device, so you should carefully look at the instructions that come with the product to improve the pressure. After installation is completed, the device is connected to the mains.

If the water pressure is normal or even strong, then you simply need this device. You will find out why in our separate review.

Right installed pump will ensure that the home's water needs are met long time if you follow these recommendations:

  • It is advisable to protect the installed equipment from blockages by installing a coarse filter at the inlet;
  • Shut-off valves must be installed in front of the pump so that preventive measures can be carried out;
  • the unit must be located in a heated room that is protected from moisture;
  • At first, it is necessary to check the device for leaks in order to identify malfunctions in time.

Note! For the safe operation of a device that increases pressure in the water supply system, it is advisable to equip a special one, which will be connected through a separate RCD.

Main selection criteria

When purchasing a product to increase pressure in the water supply network, certain points must be taken into account. Typically, six criteria are taken into account.

  • Power indicator. The value of this parameter will determine how many consumers can operate the device simultaneously.
  • The level of noise generated during operation. Models can operate loudly or very quietly. This primarily affects the comfort of use.
  • Possible height of water rise. Some devices may not reach the working environment directly to the required level.
  • Device dimensions. From sizes specific model The possibility of placement in a certain room will depend.
  • Section of connected pipes. If this criterion is not taken into account, problems may arise during installation.
  • Manufacturer's fame. Mostly, high-quality products are produced by companies that are highly popular in the market.

Summarizing

With the advent of pumps to increase water pressure in apartments and separately standing houses deficiencies in plumbing systems can be completely eliminated. Such devices are accessible from an economic point of view to a wide range of consumers, and therefore are in demand. In some cases, it is better to purchase a device to improve pressure yourself rather than solve the problem with specialized services.

If you are tired of the weak water pressure in your tap and want to solve this problem, then you may be immediately offered to install a pump to increase the water pressure. We can say that this is the simplest solution, however, it is not possible in all cases. For example, what if in your city or neighborhood the water is turned off on a schedule? The pump will not completely solve the problem of water shortage. In this case, there is a need to create an additional source of water. Or at least then you should purchase equipment to store small amounts of water back up.

If you have decided everything and in your case install the pump - perfect solution, then it is important to familiarize yourself with all the intricacies of choosing this device. However, first of all, it is necessary to understand the reasons low pressure. Although the main focus of this article is the choice of pump, we will take a comprehensive and broader look at this issue. In particular, we will figure out what the optimal pressure should be in the tap for normal operation household appliances(washing machine, dishwasher), ease of use of plumbing fixtures, etc.

Water pressure - what should it be?

In general, pressure is measured in atmospheres or bars. So, 1 bar is equal to 0.99 atmospheres. If we are talking about apartments in multi-storey private buildings, then there are standards that regulate the level of pressure at the entrances to the house and the entrance to each apartment. These regulations are described in SNIP 2.04.02-84 and SNIP 2.04.01-85.

The table shows pressure indicators for different areas, as well as in apartments and houses:

Measurement areas

Pressure indicators and calculations

Entry into a private one-story house

The pressure level should be about 1 atm.

Entry into a private multi-storey building

If the house has 2 floors, then it is necessary to increase the pressure by 0.5 atm, for a total of 1.5 atm. This much is added to each subsequent floor.

For a house of 9 floors

At the entrance to the house there should be a pressure of 4.6 atm.

For each individual apartment

Water pressure is in the region of 0.3–6 atm. It is for cold water, and for hot up to 4.5 atm. However, in reality there is not much pressure, since the water passes through a complex pipeline system.

For faucet

0.2 atm is enough.

For faucets in bathrooms and shower stalls

0.3 atm required.

For cistern toilet

The water pressure should be 0.2 atm.

For home plumbing and 2 atm pressure is quite enough to satisfy everyday needs. However, there are exceptions. For a shower cabin with a hydromassage function, as well as for a bathtub with a jacuzzi, a pressure of up to 4 atm is required.

Some may believe that than more pressure will be in the system, the better. But there is also back side medals. If the pressure is too high, for example, 6.5 atm or more, pipe fittings and other connections may not withstand. Taps, mixers and other plumbing equipment may also fail.

How to determine water pressure

Considering the data given above, it is important to be able to determine water pressure at home. This task is simplified if there is already measuring equipment at the entrance of the water supply to your apartment - a pressure gauge, as can be seen in the photo:

However, as practice shows, rarely does anyone have such equipment. For this reason, in this section we provide you with several methods on how to determine the water pressure level.

Stationary pressure gauge - the optimal solution

If you are installing or replacing a pipeline, then you can install a stationary pressure gauge to measure the water pressure in the system. In this case, you will not need to resort to improvised means.

Ideally, a pressure gauge will be installed near each plumbing fixture. However, from an aesthetic point of view, this is a clear disadvantage. Plus, it's quite an expensive pleasure.

If you follow practice, the pressure gauge is installed immediately at the entrance to the apartment. At the same time, up to the counter. Why? Everything is very simple: the filter, check valve and the meter itself already reduce the pressure. Therefore, if you are interested in the indicator directly at the entrance, then the pressure gauge is installed exactly like this.

But remember, the pressure will be different for all consumers, as it drops as it passes through many obstacles in the pipeline. The following elements most affect the decrease in water pressure:

  • places with changes in pipe diameter;
  • installation of control and shut-off valves;
  • filters;
  • tees;
  • turns;
  • hoses (on the toilet cistern, in the shower stall, etc.).

Taking all this into account, the water pressure indicator at the entrance to the apartment and at the exit from a particular consumer will be different. If you do not have a pressure gauge installed at all, then below we present for you 2 measurement methods, which will require a portable pressure gauge and a hose.

Video: operation of stationary pressure gauges

Pressure gauge in the shower for testing

One of simple methods for measuring pressure - install a pressure gauge instead of a shower head. To do this you will need to prepare the following:

  • thread extension;
  • pressure gauge for water up to 6 atm;
  • adapter for ½ thread;
  • fum tape.

All these elements should be connected to each other. To do this, screw a metal extension to the pressure gauge, and then switch to ½ thread. To seal the thread, fum tape must be used. Important to do hermetic connection, otherwise it will not be possible to make accurate measurements.

After that, in the shower stall we unscrew the watering can and instead screw in our design with a pressure gauge. At the same time, it is important to be careful so that the rubber seal does not get lost in the nut from under the watering can; it looks like this:

Now you can open the tap and measure the water pressure. In this case, it is important to perform one operation: to prevent there being air in the shower, switch the water supply from the shower to the tap several times. The air will come out and you will be able to find out the pressure value.

But we shouldn’t rush to conclusions here. The fact is that water flows into the shower through complex system pipelines. Moreover, it is known that the more turns the water goes through and the thinner the pipe (the diameter of the hose is much smaller than the diameter of the entrance pipe to the apartment), the more the pressure drops. Therefore, in this way you can only find out the pressure indicator on a given plumbing fixture. If such an operation is performed, for example, near washing machine, then the indicator will be slightly different, since the diameter of the hose is larger than that of the shower.

This method is convenient because you can determine the presence of a blockage in the pipe. For example, you noticed that the water pressure in the bathroom is good, but in the kitchen it is relatively low. By installing a pressure gauge and comparing the indicators, you can easily determine in which section of the pipeline a blockage has formed.

Immediately before disconnecting the shower head from the hose or dismantling another plumbing fixture, do not forget to turn off the water. Otherwise, you will face flooding.

Using a Hose to Calculate Pressure

If not exact, then approximate pressure measurements can be made using a regular hose 2 meters long. This method is primarily used to measure the pressure at the water outlet from the tap.

An important condition is the use of a transparent hose. This will allow you to make the necessary measurements.

The measurement process occurs as follows:

Stages of work

Sequencing

At the first stage, you need to put one end of the hose on the tap. In this case, the diameter of the hose should be such that it can be easily put on the mixer’s jib.

Now you need to worry about reliable sealing. To do this, the hose can be secured with a metal clamp.

After this, the hose rises to a vertical position. It should be plugged from above with a stopper.

Now you can open the water by completely unscrewing the tap. After a short time, the water in the hose will stop at a certain level.

Next, some calculations are performed. First of all, the length of the hose is determined from the zero level to the plug (this is the place that is at the same level as the water outlet from the gander), see the diagram:

The length of the hose from the plug to the water level in the hose is also measured.

Having all the measurements, you should make some calculations using the formula:

P = Ratm × H0 ÷ H1.

In this formula:

  • P – pressure in the pipeline at the outlet of the tap, measured in atm;
  • Ratm – pressure in the hose until the tap is opened, measured in atmospheres;
  • H0 – hose length before testing from zero level;
  • H1 – length of the hose between the plug and the established water level.

But remember that such calculations will be close to reality; pressure can be measured more accurately using the methods described above.

Causes of low water pressure in the water supply

Before taking any action, it is important to determine the cause of your low blood pressure. In some cases, the purchase and installation of pumping equipment will not completely solve the problem. The reasons may be varied:

  • water leak on the water supply line;
  • overgrowth of the internal diameter of pipes;
  • the water purification filter is clogged;
  • The faucet or other shut-off valve is faulty.

Often the cause of low pressure is poor service from the water supplier. For example, utilities may intentionally shut down one or more pumps to save money. As a result, the consumer receives water, however, its pressure leaves much to be desired.

It is noteworthy that according to the provisions of SNIP No. 2.04.02 of 1984, as well as state decree No. 307 of 2006, the minimum water pressure for one-story house is 1 atm. If the house has 2 floors, then 2.4 atm.

Now we will consider several methods of how you can increase water pressure, and also consider in detail the option of installing pumping equipment.

Video: reasons for low water pressure in the pipeline

This video explains that water pressure may be low due to a clogged aerator:

Here you will learn that water pressure may drop due to a clogged filter intended for rough cleaning:

And here we talk about why there may be low pressure due to a check valve:

How to increase blood pressure

It would be absurd to consider that installing a pump is an absolute panacea for the problem of low pressure. This option is possible only in one case - when water is supplied to the pipeline uninterruptedly. If there are constant water outages, if we are talking about a city main, running the pump idle can lead to its breakdown. If there is no water, the pump simply overheats and the motor burns out. Water is a natural coolant. However, there is a way out here too - installing special automation, for example:

  • relay for dry running protection;
  • water level sensor;
  • water flow control.

This equipment is designed to ensure that the pump turns off when there is no water. As a result, the pump will be completely protected from possible breakdowns.

Video: protecting the pump from dry running

If you live in apartment building, installing a pump to increase pressure significantly worsens the quality of water supply for your neighbors. There are some measures you can take to prevent this from happening. At the same time, solutions for an apartment and a private house should be different. Why? Now see for yourself.

Nuances of installing a pumping station

In this case, a mandatory component is centrifugal pump self-priming type. This equipment will allow you to raise water from a certain depth to the inlet even at zero pressure. This will ensure sufficient water pressure.

Additionally, such a station is equipped with a pressure switch. Due to this, when the pressure in the pipeline decreases, the pump will automatically turn off/on. Plus, a supply of water under sufficient pressure will be created in the storage tank. It is consumed only in cases where it is observed to be absent from the main line. As a result, such an installation provides a small supply of water and the necessary pressure. But this method is only relevant for private houses.

Let's consider this example: as you know, on the top floors of a house, residents most often experience the problem of lack of water. If they begin to solve it in the above-mentioned way, then soon in the whole house, at least among the residents of one riser, a struggle for the flow of water will begin. As a result, you may end up with fines from utility companies. After all, the installation of pumping equipment without the appropriate permits is prohibited. Plus, installing a pump will cause an imbalance in the entire line. Also keep in mind that self-priming pumps have technical limitations. They are capable of raising water to a height of about 8 meters. This means that if you live on the third floor, it will work with a stretch, not to mention the floors located above.

Installing a backup water supply - how to implement it correctly

This system is most effective in cases where your water is temporarily turned off. The installed tank is being filled cold water. All subsequent water consumption will be carried out from it. It is equipped with a pump and other equipment. This ensures sufficient water pressure throughout the entire house or apartment. Plus, the problem of turning off the water is solved, you will have it around the clock. It will only be missing if there is a power outage.

Installing a backup water supply is easier to implement in a private home. In an apartment, it is quite problematic to allocate space for installing a reserve tank. Unless you have many rooms, and you can allocate one for such needs, or you live on the top floor and the container can be installed in the attic. This solution will not cause an imbalance in the water riser.

To implement the project, it is necessary to select a suitable container. Most often, a plastic tank is used for this. Today you can find models of different displacements. The choice of tank volume will depend on the estimated water consumption in your family. For a family of 3-4 people, a capacity of up to 500 liters is sufficient.

Video: backup water supply in an apartment

Tank installation location

For apartments, a suitable place may be a balcony/loggia, storage room, bathroom and other rooms where there is easy access to it. If you live on the last or penultimate floor, then it makes sense to consider the option of installing a tank in the attic. However, in this case, the container must be carefully insulated and security measures must be taken to prevent it from being stolen.

If the reserve barrel and pumping equipment are installed inside the apartment, then it is important that the pump is silent. Otherwise, it will annoy you and create discomfort for your neighbors.

As for a private house, everything is much simpler here. The chosen location may be a basement or other technical room. The main condition is that it be heated.

Installation of a storage tank

So, in addition to the storage tank, you need to purchase a pump, preferably a silent one. In this category you can find equipment from the following brands:

  • Grundfos MQ;
  • RENS;
  • Pedrollo 3 CPm and the like.

It is also necessary to install automation, which necessarily includes a relay to protect the pump from dry running. This relay will signal the pump to turn on/off. This way the pumping equipment will be protected from damage.

To prevent the pump from turning on when minimum consumption water, the system can be equipped with a hydraulic accumulator. Its volume will directly affect the frequency of turning on/off the pump.

So, the entire backup storage tank circuit will work according to this principle: as soon as the water in the tap or mixer is turned on, the pump turns on and produces sufficient pressure. If the water supply capacity is exhausted, the relay sends a signal to turn off the pump. As a result, the operation of the entire system will be safe and economical.

Video: features of installation and assembly of storage tank

As for the barrel, it must be equipped with a float. As soon as it fills, the float shuts off the water supply. The system is completely reminiscent of the principle of operation of a flush cistern on a toilet. A coarse water filter is also installed. It is mounted at the entrance of the main line to the house, as well as in front of the pump. Thanks to this, no connections will penetrate into the storage tank, as well as into the pump, which could damage it.

Can be installed additional system filtering, this is optional. But keep in mind that the presence of filters will slightly reduce the pressure.

The backup water storage system is also equipped with shut-off valves, check valves, necessary fittings and other components. You can understand the connection in more detail by looking at the diagrams presented in the article.

Diagrams: connecting a backup water storage tank

Pumping station for the entire riser

Another option that allows you to increase the water pressure in the apartment is to install a powerful pumping station, large storage tank and hydraulic accumulator. In this case, the required pressure is maintained throughout the riser in the entrance, and water will be available around the clock. Although this solution seems like the optimal solution, it is extremely difficult to implement. Not all of your neighbors will agree to carry out such large-scale work due to financial considerations. And for some, for example the elderly, this amount of water pressure in the tap is enough.

Operating principle of dry running relay protection

The relay is designed to control water pressure in the system. If the pressure drops below a predetermined level, the relay is activated and the power circuit is broken. The pump is switched off and thereby protected from dry running. One of the main elements of the relay is the membrane. She reacts directly to the contact group and pressure. If the water pressure decreases, the membrane puts pressure on the contact group, turning off the power as a result.

Based on the factory settings, the relay can respond to pressure in the range from 0.1 to 0.6 atm. At this pressure, the relay is activated and prevents the pump from running dry.

Video: dry running relay

Relay and hydraulic accumulator: can they be combined into one system?

If you use a hydraulic accumulator in your system, the relay will not provide the pump with 100% protection against dry running. This is explained by the peculiarity of the operation of this system. The relay is installed in front of the hydraulic accumulator and pressure switch. There is usually a check valve between the protection and the pump. As a result, the membrane inside the relay is always under pressure, which is created by the accumulator.

For clarity, let’s look at the following situation: there is a small supply of water in the hydraulic accumulator, but there is none in the well/reserve tank. Despite the fact that the lower pressure threshold is usually set around 1.4–1.6 atm, the membrane in the relay will not work, since in fact there is pressure in the system. This will cause the pump to run dry. The pump will turn off only in two cases: when the water is used up from the accumulator, or when the pump burns out. If this happens when there is a water supply in the system, then it does not pose any threat. It’s another matter when this happens in the absence of recharge. For example, at night we drained the tank, washed our hands, and the tank filled with water. In this case, the pump naturally turns on, but there is no signal to turn off. In the morning the pump will most likely be broken.

Taking this into account, if the system is equipped with a hydraulic accumulator, it is preferable to use other devices to protect against dry running.

Video: why do you need a hydraulic accumulator, how to connect it and calculate it

From this video, you can learn about the role of the accumulator:

This story describes the principle of operation of a hydraulic accumulator:

And from this video you can learn how to calculate the capacity of a hydraulic accumulator:

Water level sensor - an alternative to a dry running relay

Such sensors are mounted in reserve tanks, as well as in the case of boreholes/wells. In our case, we will consider a float sensor, although there is an electronic analogue.

There are two types of float sensor:

  1. For emptying (this sensor prevents the pump from running dry).
  2. On filling (this sensor prevents water overflow).

In our case, the sensor for emptying is just suitable option to completely eliminate dry running of the pump:

The principle of operation is simple: if there is liquid in the container, the float sensor is at the top; when the level is lowered, so that the power supply circuit is disconnected, the sensor is lowered. As a result, the pump will be completely turned off. It will not turn on until the level is restored to the required value and the sensor again gives a signal to turn on.

To prevent the pump from running idle, the float cable is connected to the break in the phase wire.

Video: float pump protection against dry running

Water pressure switch to control pump operation

The pressure switch consists of two elements: one hydraulic, the other electrical. There is a membrane in the hydraulic part. It presses on two springs (small and large). Due to this, a signal is sent to turn the pump on/off. As for the electrical part, there is a group of contacts that close/open the electrical circuit, see the diagram for more details:

It is worth noting that the relay is available in two types:

  • electronic;
  • mechanical.

Considering that a mechanical relay is cheaper, it is more often used when arranging water supply systems.

Pressure switch connection diagram

Based on its structure, it becomes clear that the connection occurs in two stages, first to the electrical part, then to the water supply. There is no need to move this device; for this reason, it is installed permanently. Let's look at how to connect to the electrical part and to the water supply.

Connecting the electrical part

This is not necessary, but it is better to organize a separate electrical line for the pressure switch, so it is more likely that it will last longer. To do this, the wire is connected to the electrical panel, and an individual RCD is installed.

When connecting a pressure switch, grounding is required. This is explained by the fact that this device combines water and electricity, which is already unsafe.

Inside the relay there are 3 pairs of contacts, each of which has its own purpose:

  1. Grounding.
  2. For connecting neutral and phase wires from the control panel.
  3. For wires from the pump.

Connection is carried out according to the diagram from the manufacturer.

Connect to the water supply

The simplest and affordable way connecting the pressure switch to the water supply - installing a special adapter that has the necessary outputs. For this purpose, a five-pin fitting is used, see the connection diagram:

Connect to this fitting: pressure gauge, hydraulic accumulator, pump, output to water supply network inside the house and the pressure switch itself. Thanks to the pressure gauge, it will be much easier to monitor the pressure in the system and adjust the relay.

This connection scheme has its advantages. Water will flow into the house bypassing the hydraulic accumulator. First, water will flow into the taps, and only then will the tank be filled.

Video: connecting a pressure switch

Relay adjustment

Let's consider the adjustment process using the example of the RDM-5 pressure switch model:

In it you can carry out customization under one or another water supply system. As a rule, a new (factory) relay has standard settings; it has a minimum pressure threshold of 1.5 atm and a maximum threshold of 2.9 atm. If necessary, these indicators can be reset independently.

As we said above, the relay has two springs - small and large. So, adjustment is carried out by tightening the nuts on the springs. If you loosen the nuts, the pressure drops; if you tighten them, the pressure increases. One revolution of the nut is on average 0.6–0.8 atm. For this reason, you should not twist them too much.

Classification of pumps for increasing water pressure

Stand out specifications, by which pumps are distinguished:

  • operating mode;
  • cooling principle;
  • application.

Pump classification

Device types

By purpose

Such pumps are divided into two types:

  1. Universal. These are the ones that are used for any type of water.
  2. Same type. This refers to pumps that can only be used for cold or hot water.

By cooling method

The devices have various systems cooling, in particular, the following types are distinguished:

  1. Wet rotor (implies water cooling). Cooling is achieved through the pumped liquid. The rotor with impeller is located in the water.
  2. Dry rotor (assuming air cooling). Cooling is achieved through fan blades that are mounted on a shaft. However, the motor does not have direct contact with water.

By operating mode

There are two types of pumps, manual or automatic:

  1. Manual. The pump operates entirely in continuous mode. The pump is turned off/on manually. It is extremely important to prevent the motor from overheating.
  2. Auto. In this case, the pump is equipped with automation. As soon as the tap opens, the pump is activated, and when the tap closes, the pump stops working.

Pump and pumping station: advantages and disadvantages

The pump and pumping station have their own characteristics, which are noted in the table:

Pump type

Advantages

Flaws

Pressure booster pump

Here you can note small sizes, which allows you to install it in different rooms. The pump is lightweight. Some models are silent. This is especially convenient for apartments. You can install the pump directly on the water pipe. Such equipment has a relatively low cost.

One of the obvious disadvantages is that such pumps are not capable of increasing the pressure level by several orders of magnitude.

Pumping station

One of the differences between such a station is that it is able to provide the living area with the necessary pressure. Its operation is carried out automatically, which greatly simplifies the operation process.

There are more disadvantages here, however, they are rather relative. Pumping stations are more difficult to install. It also has large dimensions, which limits its use. During operation it produces significant noise, which is unacceptable for apartments in a multi-storey building. Taking this into account, it is better to allocate a separate room for installing the station. Among other things, it has a high price.

Pumping station: principle of operation

As for the pumping station for increasing pressure, its implementation requires a lot of effort. However, the result of increasing the water pressure in the pipeline will be impressive. So, to implement it you will need additional equipment:

  • relay for system control;
  • centrifugal pump;
  • hydraulic accumulator

When using it, the consumer uses water that accumulates in the accumulator. Its use completely eliminates the possibility of pressure surges. You will be able to use water even if the water supply is interrupted. The operation of the pumping station is controlled by a relay. If the pressure drops, the pump turns off.

Types of pumping stations

All pumping stations are divided into 2 types:

  • ejector with remote or built-in ejector;
  • ejectorless.

As for ejector pumps, they are equipped with a jet-centrifugal pump (self-priming). Models with a built-in ejector are less sensitive to the presence of air in the system and provide high water pressure. The downside is the inability to lift water from great depths and loud noise during operation.

To lift water from a depth of 20 meters or more, you will need a station with a remote ejector. This pumping station can be installed at a distance from the well up to 40 m. If we talk about the disadvantages, it is high sensitivity to dirty water and the presence of air in the system.

As for ejectorless pumps, a special multi-stage design is used to supply water. Its operation is almost silent. Such a pump consumes less electricity. However, the suction depth is no more than 9 meters.

Pumping stations are divided according to the type of tank used:

  • Cumulative. The tank is mounted separately from the station, mounted under the ceiling, installed in the attic, etc. Such a storage tank is practically not used today, since it is heavy, poses a risk of flooding and does not provide sufficient pressure.
  • Diaphragm tank. The container is mounted in basement, since the water level is regulated by the battery. The tank is small in size. Mainly used for shallow wells.

In addition, pumping stations are divided according to the source of water supply:

  • Deep. Availability of a reliable case. The device can be completely submerged in water.
  • Non-submersible. The ejector is placed on top, and a hose is lowered into the water. However, such a pump can be used when water is no deeper than 9 meters.

What to look for when choosing a device

If you have already approached the purchase of a pressure booster pump, then it is important to pay attention to several important parameters:

  • pipe diameter section;
  • maximum power and output pressure;
  • performance;
  • what noise level is produced during operation;
  • for which plumbing systems hot/cold water can be used;

Be sure to take into account the fact that the pump you purchased is on average capable of increasing water pressure to 4 atm and up to 40%. Therefore, their use is possible under conditions of constant water pressure in the pipeline equal to 1.5 atm.

Among other things, you should determine the quality of your wiring. Often, a newly installed pump is not able to produce the required pressure due to low voltage. Therefore, it may be necessary to draw an individual line.

Important Specifications

The table below shows some technical characteristics that you should definitely pay attention to when choosing a pump:

Characteristics

Description of parameters

Maximum head

This indicator indicates the maximum increase in water pressure in the system. An extremely important characteristic, especially if you have a two-story house and the pump will be installed in the basement. If chosen incorrectly, the pump will not fulfill its main purpose.

Maximum feed

This characteristic indicates the volume of water that the pump is capable of pumping in a certain time. Measurements can be specified in the following formats:

  • in minutes and liters (l/min);
  • in hours and cubic meters (m 3 / hour).

But be careful here, as the maximum value is usually indicated. To determine the actual parameters, divide the indicators by two.

Power (nominal/maximum)

Measurement is carried out in watts (W). This indicator indicates the performance of the motor that drives the impeller. Give preference to the most powerful pump models. This will be a guarantee high pressure.

Temperature

The pressure booster pump can only be used for hot or cold water. Therefore, pay attention to the mark, which is indicated in degrees.

Self-installation of a pressure boosting pump

The technology for installing a pressure boosting pump is practically no different from installing a conventional one. circulation pump. The work process consists of several successive stages:

  1. Selecting a suitable location for the pump and accumulator.
  2. Installation of a hydraulic accumulator.
  3. Installation of pipes for connection.
  4. Pump mounting.
  5. Pump and accumulator piping.

Such a pump set, in fact, resembles a conventional pumping station.

So, the work happens in this order:

  • First of all, secure household pump in the selected location, some pump models need to be mounted only horizontally, so be sure to take this parameter into account.
  • Install the hydraulic accumulator.
  • Considering that the pump is mounted on the water supply, a check valve is installed immediately upon entering the house.
  • Afterwards, a pump is connected through the line to increase the pressure.
  • Next, the crosspiece is connected, and a check valve is also mounted in the direction from the pump.
  • The remaining 3 outputs on the cross will be directed to the hydraulic accumulator, pump control relay and towards water sources.
  • All electrical connections must be as tight as possible.
  • This system can be equipped with a stationary pressure gauge to measure the water pressure in the system.
  • An individual RCD is installed on the control system (relay).

The principle of this connection is based on the diagram below:

It is important to take into account some nuances if you perform work in private apartment. A tap must be installed at the inlet. It should be closed immediately before starting work. When installing the booster pump, do not confuse the direction of the arrows, which should be directed away from the supply.

All connections must be as tight as possible to avoid leakage of water and pressure. Therefore, pack each joint carefully. Other details installation work you can find in the video provided for this article. You will learn how to install pumping equipment with automation yourself.

So, we have discussed with you the issue of increasing pressure in the water supply system from different sides. Of course, it is impossible to describe all situations. If you have other experience in this area or remember other nuances of the work, then be sure to write comments on this article.

Video: features of installing a pump to increase pressure

Low pressure in the water supply can make not only you angry, but also expensive equipment. Agree, both of them simply need to be protected. Such situations mainly depress the owners of private houses, but they also happen in apartments connected to centralized networks. How to deal with them?

Pumps to increase water pressure will forever get rid of these troubles. They will provide the operating parameters required for the normal functionality of household appliances. Compact, almost invisible devices will protect your nerves and extend the operating life of the units.

The article presented to your attention details the principles of equipment selection and the rules for its installation. Those wishing to carry out the work themselves or supervise hired plumbers will be helped useful diagrams. The information is supplemented by photo selections and videos.

The problem of low pressure in the water supply is solved using two types of devices: circulating and self-priming pumps. The former are simpler in design and easier to install into the system.

A conventional circulation pump consists of a rotor, an impeller attached to it and a motor that rotates it all. Usually, if there is water in the system, but its pressure is weak, one or two pumps are enough.

The problem of increasing pressure in the water supply system is solved in two ways: by installing a circulation or centrifugal self-priming pump (click to enlarge)

But if water does not flow to the upper floors at all, you will have to install. Such a device is simply installed as part of the plumbing system in a suitable location. The impeller rotates, giving the water flow additional acceleration.

As a result, the pipes fill with water faster, providing the required level of pressure in the water supply. These are compact devices low power designed to solve local problems. Suction pumps differ more high performance and a more complex device.

Image gallery

In addition to a suction pump capable of pumping water to a considerable height, the system is also equipped with a special membrane.

The operation of this technique is automated and used. Water is first supplied to the storage tank and then enters the water supply, providing the necessary characteristics within the system.

Thus, if a centrifugal pump eliminates a problem in a particular area, then suction equipment is used to regulate the entire water supply in a house or apartment.

Self-priming booster pumps are capable of lifting liquid to a height of up to 12 m, while their power starts from 2 m 3 / h.

Circulation pumps have the property of working “at a dead end”, i.e. they do not need to be turned off even if all the taps are closed and no water is drawn from the system.

Supply pumps function in approximately the same way to increase water pressure. These devices are similar in design to circulation models.

If such a pump is turned off, water will circulate freely through its body. As soon as power is supplied to the motor, the pump turns on.

The impeller begins to rotate and the water pressure in the system increases. If there is a choice between automatic or manual systems, the former is usually preferred.

Comparing the diagram of a water supply system with and without a booster pump allows you to more accurately imagine the installation procedure for such equipment

This type of equipment is more convenient to use and lasts longer because it does not run idle. Take the pump to manual control It makes sense only in cases where it will be used either very briefly (temporary option) or extremely rarely (in the summer, at the dacha, only on weekends).

The diagram clearly shows the design of a wet rotor pump. Water flows around the moving parts of the pump and absorbs excess heat.

The concept of dry and wet rotor refers to information about the cooling system of the device. In the first case, it is cooled by a flow of air, and in the second, by a flow of pumped water.

A pump with a wet rotor is cheaper, but lasts less due to the negative effects of sediment that accumulates on the working parts during pumping of water. Models with a dry rotor cope with their tasks more efficiently and have a longer service life.

Rules for selecting unit power

The power of the device must be commensurate with the needs of the system. Not enough pressure is bad, but you don't want too much pressure either.

If a pump that is too efficient is selected for the water supply system, the pressure in the system will increase and all its elements will be subjected to unnecessary additional load. This leads to rapid wear and frequent breakdowns.

The water pressure in the system must be no less than two atmospheres. This is enough for comfortable water procedures, as well as for starting an automatic washing machine.

Although some models are more demanding in terms of operating conditions. For example, if the house has a shower, hydromassage, jacuzzi or other similar devices, the pressure should be higher.

In this case, it is better to increase the pressure in the water supply system to 5-6 atmospheres. Certain types of equipment require even higher performance.

Therefore, the first step before installing a pressure booster pump should be to study the documentation of household appliances. If you plan to purchase any devices in the future, their characteristics also need to be taken into account.

To create a constant high pressure in the system, special pumping stations are used, including a pump and a hydraulic tank. Their operation is controlled using a pressure switch

A specialist can make accurate calculations, but usually preliminary data made “by eye” is sufficient. To determine how much pressure actually exists in the system, you can use a regular liter jar. They open the water and measure how many liters of water pour out of the tap within a minute.

Then you need to deal with your current needs. If the inconvenience is due to the fact that when the tap in the kitchen is open it is difficult to take a shower due to low pressure, it is enough to use a regular pump, which will increase the pressure by a couple of atmospheres.

But if the house has an automatic washing machine, shower cabin or other equipment of this kind, you should study the technical documentation.

Each such consumer requires a certain water pressure. Lack of sufficient pressure can lead to expensive equipment running idle.

Household appliances, especially foreign ones, are not designed for such operating conditions. A breakdown caused by a lack of normal pressure may be considered a case that does not comply with the warranty conditions.

You can focus on the maximum pressure indicators in the water supply system indicated in the device data sheets. In the presence of large quantity For such equipment, you should seek advice from an engineer.

When choosing a water pump model suitable for power to increase pressure, you should also take into account the needs of equipment that you plan to purchase in the future.

Lack of pressure in the plumbing system can lead to premature wear and failure of expensive water heating and plumbing equipment

Installation principles for self-priming models

Installing a pump of this type is not particularly difficult. To do this, you will need approximately the same skills and tools that are needed to install other types of pumping equipment.

Schematically, the installation of a booster pump can be represented in the following steps:

  1. Choosing a location for the accumulator and pump.
  2. Installation of a hydraulic accumulator.
  3. Installation of pipes for connecting equipment to the water supply.
  4. Hanging the pump from the wall.
  5. Pump and accumulator piping.
  6. Checking the operation of equipment in automatic mode.

Essentially, a pump and accumulator with a pressure switch is a variation. To implement the installation of such a system of devices, you first need to find a place to place the tank.

Some craftsmen replace the hydraulic accumulator with a membrane with an ordinary large capacity, for example, a 200-liter plastic tank.

Instead of a pressure switch, the tank is equipped with a float switch to ensure that it automatically fills as needed. Such a tank is installed as high as possible: in the attic or on the top floor. You should immediately think not only about the size, but also about the configuration of the container.

A flat and narrow tank will take less space than the traditional cylindrical model. Although there are no special requirements for the configuration of the container. When choosing a location for a container, you should provide access to the tank/hydraulic accumulator or the ability to easily dismantle this element. This is necessary to complete Maintenance, repair or replacement of the device.

The photo shows the installation of check valves during installation plastic tank, as well as the procedure for connecting the inlet and outlet pipes to the water pipe

They are delivered ready for installation, but the tank needs to be prepared. There are holes in it for water inflow and intake.

You can also make a separate shut-off valve to drain the water into emergency situation. The pipes for supplying water to the tank and taking it into the water supply system are mounted to one water pipe.

IN modern conditions For the installation of water supply, it is more logical to use easy-to-install and reliable plastic pipes.

To prevent air from being sucked into the tank from the pump, and also to prevent water from entering there when the equipment is turned off, both pipes should be equipped with check valves. After this, pipes are installed to connect the tank to the water supply system.

Circulation pumps take up minimal space and do not interfere with the maintenance of household appliances

After the tank or accumulator has been installed and the necessary installations have been carried out water pipes, you can begin installing the suction pump. Typically, such a device is supplied disassembled. It is first assembled and then installation begins.

If you decide to mount the pump on the wall, you should first make markings for the fasteners. The pump is then suspended and connected to the water supply pipes. Overall, this is not a very complicated operation. Important point- direction of fluid in the pump. It is indicated on the body with special marks.

The pump should be installed in such a way that the water flows from the tank to the water collection points. Thus, the installation and connection diagram for the pressure booster pump is as follows: hydraulic accumulator-pump-consumer. Then the pump is connected.

All connections must be carefully sealed. If you use a booster pump to connect threaded connections, you should use a suitable sealant: FUM tape, linen thread, etc.

The amount of sealant should be sufficient, but not excessive. TO plastic pipes the device is connected using special fittings.

After this, you should check the operation of the entire system. If a tank with a float sensor was used, fill it with water. They check not only the operation of the sensor. A container that serves storage tank, should be checked for leaks. If everything is in order, you can proceed to testing the operation of the pump itself.

The pump must be connected to the electrical network. It is recommended to move the pump switch lever to the position corresponding to automatic mode. All that remains is to open the nearest one water tap and observe the operation of the device. If the installation is done correctly, the pump should automatically turn on and the water pressure will increase noticeably.

Pressure boosting circulation pumps are installed in a similar manner. They choose for them appropriate place in the water supply, and they cut it there. In this case, it is also extremely important to connect the pump correctly, taking into account the direction of fluid flow. If the position of the device is incorrect, the pump will still allow a flow of water.

Connection diagram of the circulation pump to the water supply system. Installation of such a device is very simple, but it is important not to confuse the direction of water flow

But its work will be extremely ineffective, since the device simply will not function. It is detailed in the instructions and on the case correct position pump

After installation, the pump is connected to the electrical network and its operation is checked. If the water pressure at the nearest water intake point has increased, it means that the installation was completed correctly.

A small pump to increase pressure is simply cut into the system. Usually, to do this, it is enough to remove a piece of pipe of the appropriate length at the beginning of the water supply

Installing a system with a hydraulic accumulator looks a little more complicated. First you need to understand the structure of the entire structure.

The pump is connected to the hydraulic accumulator using special hoses. Then a pressure switch is connected, with which the equipment will be turned on and off.

This figure shows in detail the principle of operation of a pump with a hydraulic accumulator and the procedure for connecting it. The pump fills the tank and then turns off

It deserves special attention. Before starting work, it is recommended to carefully study the instructions and recommendations of the manufacturer.

If the knowledge and skills for high-quality installation and configuration of equipment are not enough, it is better to contact a specialist for advice or completely entrust him with all the work.

To solve a problem with low water pressure in a system, a booster pump is not always necessary. To begin with, it doesn’t hurt to diagnose the condition of the water pipes. Cleaning them or completely replacing them can restore normal pressure without additional equipment.

To understand that the problem is in the poor condition of the water pipes, sometimes it is enough to ask neighbors living in apartments on the same floor or above.

If their pressure is normal, the pipes almost certainly need to be cleaned. If the picture is the same for everyone, there may be more serious problems affecting the entire plumbing system of the house and even the area.

In high-rise buildings, water sometimes simply does not reach the upper floors. This requires high-power and quite expensive equipment. It makes sense to team up with other residents to share the costs.

Good idea- demand a solution to the problem from the organization that receives payment for water supply, since it is the organization that must ensure the supply of water to the consumer.

Lack of water on the upper floors is a violation of the requirements fire safety. When communicating with a water supply service provider, it is worth paying attention to this point and mentioning the possibility of legal proceedings due to non-compliance with legal regulations.

It is best to entrust the installation of equipment in an apartment building to a full-time plumber. management company. He's with the system too better acquainted, and will be responsible in case of leaks or breakdowns caused by poor installation of equipment.

Pumps for increasing water pressure are a practical solution to the problem of low water pressure in the room. When water barely flows out of the tap, it not only causes significant inconvenience to residents, but also negatively affects the operation of household appliances.

Because of low pressure Washing machines, dishwashers, boilers, etc. stop working. Faced with a similar problem, it makes sense to think about buying a pump to increase water pressure.

Indicators of good blood pressure

Liquid pressure can be measured using several quantities: bar, atmospheres, meters of water column. So 1 bar equals 1.0197 atmospheres or 10.19 meters of water column. According to standard indicators of urban water supply, the pressure in the network should be at least 4 atmospheres. But the actual numbers are not so optimistic. In most cases, colossal pressure drops are recorded, which have a detrimental effect on the entire system.

An increase in pressure up to 7 atmospheres can damage even the highest quality plumbing fixtures and destroy pipe connections, causing a leak.

Low blood pressure is also the cause of many problems. When the indicator is 2 atmospheres or lower, household appliances stop working, and the owners experience significant inconvenience.

The permissible minimum required for the operation of basic household appliances is 1.5-2.4 atmospheres. The reason for too low pressure may be strong water withdrawal or the fact that the apartment is located on the upper floors of a multi-story building. In this case, it is recommended to use special equipment that maintains stable pressure levels - a pump to increase water pressure.

Equipment selection

For selection optimal option pump, specify the nature of the problem - low pressure, frequent changes, high pressure.

If the water flow from the tap is very weak, it is necessary to install a pump that increases the water pressure. If there is a complete lack of water on the top floors of a multi-story building, most likely you need to buy a self-priming pumping station.

The main parameters that should be relied on when choosing pumping equipment

  1. Task - what the equipment is needed for: increase/lower/regulate pressure.
  2. Equipment characteristics are the main indicators indicating throughput and pressure.
  3. Manufacturing plant - the credibility of the company that produces water level pumps, reviews about it.
  4. Dimensions of the serviced area - the dimensions of the room where the pump will be installed.
  5. The financial question is the amount you are willing to allocate to purchase a pump.

It will be quite difficult for an ignorant person to calculate the required performance and water pressure to select a suitable pump. If you do not have the appropriate knowledge, entrust this work to a specialist. Often, when ordering equipment, companies provide this service free of charge.

Compact pumps

When a slight increase in pressure in the system is required (by 1-1.5 atmospheres), installing a compact pump will be quite sufficient. This is a small piece of equipment that is installed directly into the water pipe.

The price of a water pressure booster pump may vary depending on the characteristics and manufacturer. Many experts are inclined to believe that there is no point in overpaying for such a common device. It is not at all necessary to install an expensive imported high-power pump. It is better to use equipment with less power and the ability to optimize operation. The connection of such pumps is carried out in front of the places where pipes are fastened and near household appliances.

Equipment classification

The choice of device depends on the need for conventional reinforcement of low pressure or “purging” of water from the lower floors of a residential building to the upper ones.

If you simply need to increase the pressure, it is recommended to use a small pump with low power. If you need to raise water from bottom to top, you will need a centrifugal pump with a hydraulic accumulator. There are pumps for increasing the pressure of hot water and cold water.

Operating modes

1. Manual – uninterrupted operation of pumping equipment. To prevent overheating during operation, it is necessary to constantly monitor the indicators and turn off the pump in a timely manner. Otherwise, it may overheat and fail.

2. Automatic – the working process is controlled by a flow sensor. The pump is turned on when the water tap is turned on. That is, if water does not flow, the pump is at rest. Obvious factors indicate that automatic pump increasing water pressure is much more convenient and functional than manual. It has protectors that prevent it from turning on if the water is not flowing. This guarantees the efficiency and durability of the device.

Cooling methods

1. Motor impeller - blades located on the shaft cool the device. This mechanism with a dry rotor allows the pump to operate more or less silently and significantly increases efficiency.

2. Liquid – the device is cooled by water pumped during operation. The mechanism, with a so-called wet rotor, creates virtually no noise, unlike the previous version.

Pumping stations

Before deciding on the choice of pumping station, make sure that the source of the problem of low pressure is precisely the low water pressure in the system, and not clogged pipes. Over the years, all pipes become coated from the inside limescale and mechanical particles remaining after filtration. Their volume decreases, which leads to low throughput. If this is the reason, no pumping station will solve the problem - the entire water supply system must be replaced. In other cases, a water pressure booster pump will help you.

Using a pumping station, you can lift water from a well or the lower tiers of a house. Such devices are especially popular in private residential sectors.

The station device is a centrifugal pump that increases water pressure. It is connected to a hydraulic accumulator and a relay that controls the entire system. During operation, water is pumped from the system into a storage tank. Even after an unplanned (emergency) shutdown of the pump, you can use the stored water. In the event of such a water shutdown, the pressure will gradually decrease to a certain point. Having reached it, the relay will automatically operate, turning on the pump. It is logical that the larger the volume of the water tank, the longer the pump will last, since the device will turn on and off less often.

If you can't wash the dishes or take a shower, then household appliances, such as a washing machine or dishwasher, may simply refuse to work. Fortunately, to solve this kind of problem, pumps have been invented to increase water pressure.

How it works

The problem of low pressure in the water supply system is solved using two types of devices: circulation and self-priming pumps. The first ones are simpler and easier to install into the system. A conventional circulation pump consists of a rotor, an impeller attached to it and a motor that rotates it all. Usually, if there is water in the system, but its pressure is weak, one or two pumps are enough.

The problem of increasing pressure in the water supply system is solved in two ways: by installing a circulation or centrifugal self-priming pump

But if water does not flow to the upper floors at all, you will have to install a high-power pumping station with a hydraulic tank. Such a device is simply installed as part of the plumbing system in a suitable location. The impeller rotates, giving the water flow additional acceleration.

As a result, the pipes fill with water faster, providing the required level of pressure in the water supply. These are compact, low-power devices designed to solve local problems. Suction pumps have higher performance and a more complex design.

In addition to a suction pump capable of pumping water to a considerable height, the system is also equipped with a hydraulic accumulator equipped with a special membrane. The operation of this equipment is automated; a pressure switch is used. Water is first supplied to the storage tank and then enters the water supply, providing the necessary characteristics within the system.

Thus, if a centrifugal pump eliminates a problem in a particular area, then suction equipment is used to regulate the entire water supply in a house or apartment. Self-priming booster pumps are capable of lifting liquid to a height of up to 12 m, while their power starts from 2 kW/h.

The pressure boosting pump works as follows. When the water flow reaches 1.5 cubic meters, the motion sensor petal changes position. It leads to automatic switching on pump When the water flow stops, the pump turns off. This type of equipment is used both in private cottages and in apartment buildings.

It is especially relevant in high-rise residential buildings, where normal water delivery to the upper floors can be ensured without a special pump. various reasons impossible. Installing one pump or even a special station with increased power can be a real salvation for residents of upper floors.

Sometimes you have to use not one booster pump, but two or more. Owners of houses in which the plumbing system was initially designed with errors sometimes face this need. In this case, you will have to calculate the cost of reworking the water supply (if such a possibility exists at all) and the cost of installing additional equipment.

A small pumping station installed in front of household appliances will ensure a normal water supply

It should be remembered that special types of equipment are designed for pumping hot water. They are made of special heat-resistant materials, so they cost more than more simple models, designed for contact only with cold water. There are also universal booster pumps that are suitable for both cold and hot water.

The power of a conventional circulation pump is low and it consumes less energy than some incandescent lamps. When it is included in the system, you can achieve an increase in pressure by about 2-3 atmospheres. If a more serious correction of characteristics is required, preference should be given to more powerful equipment.

This type of equipment is more convenient to use and lasts longer because it does not run idle. It makes sense to use a manual pump only in cases where it will be used either very briefly (temporary option) or extremely rarely (in the summer, at the dacha, only on weekends).

If you have a large number of such equipment, you should seek advice from an engineer. When choosing a water pump model suitable for power to increase pressure, you should also take into account the needs of equipment that you plan to purchase in the future.

How to install a self-priming pump

Installing a pump of this type is not particularly difficult. To do this, you will need approximately the same skills and tools that are needed to install other types of pumping equipment. Schematically, the installation of a booster pump can be represented in the following steps:

  • Choosing a location for the accumulator and pump.
  • Installation of a hydraulic accumulator.
  • Installation of pipes for connecting equipment to the water supply.
  • Hanging the pump from the wall.
  • Pump and accumulator piping.
  • Checking the operation of equipment in automatic mode.

In fact, a pump and accumulator with a pressure switch is a variation of a pumping station.

The flat and narrow tank will take up less space than a traditional cylindrical model. Although there are no special requirements for the configuration of the container. When choosing a location for a container, you should provide access to the tank/hydraulic accumulator or the ability to easily dismantle this element. This is necessary to perform maintenance, repair or replacement of the device.

The photo shows the installation of check valves when installing a plastic tank, as well as the procedure for connecting the inlet and outlet pipes to the water pipe

Hydraulic accumulators are supplied ready for installation, but the tank should be prepared. There are holes in it for water inflow and intake. You can also make a separate shut-off valve to drain the water in an emergency. The pipes for supplying water to the tank and taking it into the water supply system are mounted to one water pipe.

In modern conditions, it is more logical to use easy-to-install and reliable plastic pipes for installing water supply systems. To prevent air from being sucked into the tank from the pump, and also to prevent water from entering there when the equipment is turned off, check valves should be installed on both pipes. After this, pipes are installed to connect the tank to the water supply system.

Circulation pumps take up minimal space and do not interfere with the maintenance of household appliances

Once the tank or accumulator has been installed and the necessary water pipes have been laid, you can begin installing the suction pump. Typically, such a device is supplied disassembled. It is first assembled and then installation begins.

If you decide to mount the pump on the wall, you should first make markings for the fasteners. The pump is then suspended and connected to the water supply pipes. Overall, this is not a very complicated operation. An important point is the direction of the fluid in the pump.

If threaded connections are used to connect the booster pump, a suitable sealant should be used: FUM tape, flax thread, etc. The amount of sealant should be sufficient, but not excessive. The device is connected to plastic pipes using special fittings.

After this, you should check the operation of the entire system. If a tank with a float sensor was used, fill it with water. They check not only the operation of the sensor. The container that serves as a storage tank should be checked for leaks. If everything is in order, you can proceed to testing the operation of the pump itself.

The pump must be connected to the electrical network. It is recommended to move the pump switch lever to the position corresponding to automatic mode. All that remains is to open the nearest water tap and observe the operation of the device. If the installation is done correctly, the pump should automatically turn on and the water pressure will increase noticeably.

Pressure boosting circulation pumps are installed in a similar manner. A suitable place in the water supply is chosen for them, and they are inserted there.

The instructions and the housing indicate in detail the correct position of the pump.

The configuration of such a relay deserves special attention.

It is a good idea to demand a solution to the problem from the organization that receives payment for the water supply, since it is they who must ensure the supply of water to the consumer.

The lack of water on the upper floors is a violation of fire safety requirements. When communicating with a water supply service provider, it is worth paying attention to this point and mentioning the possibility of legal proceedings due to non-compliance with legal regulations.

It is best to entrust the installation of equipment in an apartment building to a full-time plumber of the management company. He is also better familiar with the system, and will be responsible in case of leaks or breakdowns caused by poor installation of equipment.
