How to properly install a double-leaf interior door. Installation of a sliding structure. Double door installation

An original solution is the installation of interior double doors for some rooms. This design idea is relevant if there is a wide opening that allows for free passage. During the installation process may be involved Various types sashes from classic hinged to modern sliding. The style is selected in harmony with general style interior

Main advantages and disadvantages of the design

Installed double (two-leaf) interior doors, in addition to aesthetic pleasure, must provide sufficient functionality without creating interference, just as their care should not create any problems. Offered by manufacturers modern models have their advantages:

  • using interior double doors to the hall in a pendulum style is quite simple, since they provide free opening without applying force in both directions;
  • ample opportunities for the use of a variety of designs, they provide a large selection of models;
  • the load on the hinges is reduced, in contrast to the installation of a large single sheet;
  • there is a visual expansion of space;
  • double style interior doors emphasizes the sophistication of taste and encourages hospitality.

The sliding design takes up much less space due to the absence of an opening zone

The design has no obvious negative sides, but in some cases a swing door may not suit the style. In this situation, you can use the installation of sliding doors. There is always room for two small doors, even in a small room.

Types of models

Before you buy double interior doors inexpensively or at a high price, you need to decide on the basic parameters of the product:

  • traditionally on domestic market There are two options available that differ in operating principles: swing and sliding

Swing design

  • double interior doors to the hall may have differences in design: massive, solid paneled and with glass panels;
  • During manufacturing, materials such as wood, MDF, plastic, aluminum, glass are used

Having purchased double interior swing or sliding doors, you will need to prepare an installation location for them. To do this, the old box and canvas are dismantled. New box You can build it yourself or purchase it complete with doors.

When purchasing hinges for a double door to the hall, select the direction in which they open.

Dismantling procedure

To install double interior doors with glass or with solid panels, you must remove old door. At the initial stage, remove it from the hinges, and only then remove the box. To do this, use a crowbar and a hacksaw, which is used to trim the onions.

First of all, dismantle old box and install a new one

The resulting cavity is cleaned of remnants of hardened mortar and sealing foam. No building element should protrude beyond the plane to interfere with the installation of the new boat.

Installation of hinges on the door

Interior double swing doors of economy class or premium models require reliable hinges. To reduce the load on each of them, it is necessary to attach not a pair, but three loops on each side. In this way it will be possible to extend the service life of the structure.

Let's use the algorithm:

  • measure 250 mm from the top side of the door, apply one hinge, then 250 mm from the bottom end and place the second on the end, and the third will be at a distance of 500 mm from the top hinge;
  • We mark with a pencil the place of supposed fastening;
  • chisel or convenient tool against the fiber we form a recess for mounting the plane of each loop;
  • We fix the hinges with self-tapping screws or self-tapping screws, and the fasteners should not be shorter than 30 mm in order to withstand the load.

Assembling the box - the corners are fastened with three self-tapping screws, the length of which should reach the center of the second beam

On the installation box we also prepare an area for each hinge. To do this, we apply the door to the frame, mark the lower area and knock out the platform with a chisel. We apply double interior doors again so that the dimensions match for each hinge. It is important to ensure that both doors fit into the frame without force.

Installation of the box in the opening

Since it is possible to correctly install a double interior door and frame only with the help of a level, you should not neglect this operation. It is more convenient to install the box in the opening at the initial stage without a door. It is advisable not to remove the shipping film from them until the double hinged interior doors are completely installed, so as not to damage them. decorative surface mechanically or foam.

First of all, the side on which the hinges are located is fixed, and then the upper horizontal. After this, we adjust the balance using wooden wedges, measuring the verticality with a level and plumb lines.

Also aligning the second vertical stand, we push it apart with wedges. We drill holes through for the dowels and fix the box in the desired condition.

Installing doors

Some designs of expensive or cheap double interior doors contain a crossbar - an element that moves vertically and locks the door, resting against the hole in the threshold. For its installation, markings are made on the canvas. Then we drill a hole for it at a slight angle so that the closure is tight. We mount it in the groove and secure it with screws.

At the next stage, we hang both sashes and ensure their harmonious operation. The algorithm consists of the following steps:

  • we hang one of the doors on 1 or 2 screws and control its free movement in the frame;
  • when rubbing against the surface is detected, we deepen the grooves with a metalworking tool: a milling cutter or chisels;
  • when the door moves too easily, we place spacers made of wood or thick cardboard under the hinges;
  • repeat the procedure with the second leaf.

We install the remaining screws into the hinges. It is important to complete all work related to high humidity before the doors are installed, so as not to cause deformation of the wooden elements.

Sealing seams

Before the foaming procedure technological gap between the box and the opening you will need to protect the surfaces from foam getting on them. We seal the door with masking tape, and the door can be covered with sheets of cellophane.

The applied foam dries in 2-3 hours. It is necessary to use foam with a low degree of expansion to avoid deformation after it dries and swells.

Foaming seams

After cutting off the remains, you can begin installing the platbands.

Lock installation

It is important to insert the lock with maximum precision, since a discrepancy in geometric parameters can cause the mechanism to jam. The procedure is carried out in a canopy, after careful marking.

VIDEO: How to install double interior doors

Hinged doors vary both in their design and in the materials from which they are made. Before you start self-installation doors, it is necessary to acquire a certain theoretical basis - to find out the design features, technological sequence and rules for installing doors. In this article we will tell you how to install an interior door with your own hands and show photo and video instructions.

The block of swing doors consists of:

  • door frame fixed in the doorway;
  • one or two door leaves hung on this frame.

The contour of the doors can be arched or rectangular. In addition, there is a difference between left-hand and right-hand swing doors. This is reflected on the mounting side door hinges. In addition, models are available with swinging door leaves that open in both directions.

Design

Door leaves can be constructed from prefabricated elements of the same type of wood, or from different ones. In the production of such fabric, all elements are carefully selected in full accordance with technical characteristics and performance qualities of each breed. Often the canvases are lined with veneer made from valuable wood, which is then treated with special enamel and nitro varnish.

The door leaf can be filled with slats, wooden blocks or solid fillers (plywood, spiral chips, polyurethane, solid wood fiber structure, etc.). Paneled hinged doors are most often used for residential interiors. Their canvases are made solid or decorated with glass inserts.

Glass panels can be reinforced, patterned or transparent, as well as stained glass. The exception is swing door models. They are usually equipped only with transparent glass - these are the safety rules for using swing interior doors.

Installation steps

Installation of an interior swing door is carried out in compliance with the following sequence:

  • preparing a wall opening;
  • door frame assembly;
  • insertion of lock and hinges;
  • installation door frame in the opening;
  • hanging the canvas;
  • installation of platbands.

The installation should begin by preparing the wall opening. The opening dimensions are always slightly larger standard sizes doors, so wooden wedges are used to fix it. They provide the necessary clearance for pouring polyurethane foam. It is possible to narrow on each side by a maximum of 40 mm, otherwise the line where the wall meets the attached element will not be covered by the platband. If the difference in the dimensions of the opening and the door block is more than 40 mm, then you should choose a door frame with a larger width.

The door frame must be assembled flat surface(preferably on the floor). Many boxes are sold ready-to-assemble and already have an end cut. Parts universal kit You need to trim it yourself. The end cut angle should be 45°. After trimming, the vertical structural elements are tightened with self-tapping screws to the horizontal components of the door frame; here it is important to prevent the components from moving.

For further installation, insertion of hinges is required.

When performing the operation of inserting hinges, it is important to remember that the distance between the edge of the hinges and the edge of the door leaf should be 20 cm.

By attaching a loop and outlining it with a pencil, you can select it with a chisel or an electric milling tool, which is much faster and more convenient, especially if you do not have the skills to work with a chisel. In this case, a layer of wood is selected that corresponds to the thickness of the hinge flag.

Now you can start installing the hinges - after attaching the hinge, you need to mark the locations of the holes. Then holes for the screws are drilled, and the diameter of the drill should not exceed 3/4 of the diameter of the screw. Only after this are the hinges attached.

The next operation is to insert the lock. Approximately 1 m is measured from the floor - this is the height at which, according to technological rules, the lock should be located. Installing a lock requires special care and attention, since composite materials of varying degrees of hardness and density are often used in the frame and door leaf structures.

After completing all operations, you can proceed to installing the door frame. It is secured in the wall opening with self-tapping screws. To do this, holes are drilled in the vertical elements of the door block. To ensure secure fastening, it is necessary to drill three holes at equal distances from each other. Then the holes should be bored to accommodate the head of the self-tapping screw. After this, holes for the plugs are marked and drilled. Then the plugs are clogged and the screws are tightened. Next, you should wedge the frame with wooden wedges, leaving it some mobility for subsequent adjustment and adjustment to the dimensions of the door leaf.

The correct installation of the entire door block is checked as follows: the door should be secured with wedges and left in a half-open position. If it does not close or open spontaneously, then the door is installed correctly, and you can proceed to the next phase of work - filling the opening with polyurethane foam.

Before pouring, you need to firmly secure the box in the wall opening. To do this, wedges are driven in evenly, and the supporting beam of the structure is pulled up with self-tapping screws, which is aligned with a plumb line. At this stage of work, it is important to ensure that the elements of the door block do not become distorted. Then the door leaf is hung on the hinges and the supporting beam is rigidly secured along the vestibule.

The presence of spacers is necessary and very important point, without them, the polyurethane foam may deform the box when it dries.

As a result, a complete structure is formed that has a uniform gap around the perimeter between the wall and the door frame. Next, the canvas is removed again, and spacers are installed in the opening.

Next comes filling the space between the wall and the door frame with foam. When the foam dries (the drying time is indicated on the packaging), its remains are carefully cut off. The final touch remains - installing the platbands.

Having attached the casing to the installation site, you should mark the cut line along which the excess part is cut off at an angle of 45°. The technology requires first installing the left casing, and then the right one. The platbands are secured with self-tapping screws. When all door installation operations have been completed, if necessary, you can protect all structural elements from moisture. For this purpose, a silicone sealing compound is used. This completes the installation of swing doors.

The double-leaf version of interior doors is usually used in two cases - a large doorway and small room. Compared to one canvas, they take up much less space in open form. There is another reason for this choice - double-leaf interior doors look very elegant, especially modern product models. Their canvases can be hinged or sliding. There are also swinging models, but they are used extremely rarely. How to install a double-leaf interior door? Installation of double-leaf products is not difficult, but it requires a certain consistency and knowledge.

Preparing the opening

Before proceeding with the installation of the door, an opening for it is prepared. If there is a need to dismantle the old door frame, this is done using a nail puller, a hammer and a screwdriver. Then the opening is cleaned of any remaining plaster and foam. Depending on the material of the wall, a grinder, chainsaw or hammer drill is used to expand it. You can reduce the space to the required size using lumber or plaster.

The walls must be ready for finishing and leveled as much as possible - the door frame should not be adjusted to their curvature or be knocked out of plane.

Doorway calculation

There are double doors interior dimensions which do not fit the existing opening. The calculation of its width is carried out according to a simple scheme - plus the width of one panel, the gap between it and the beam and the thickness of the box. The resulting amount is multiplied by 2 and 4-5 mm is added to it for mortgages. For example, let's take the most common door width of 600 mm and frame thickness of 25 mm. (600+3+25)x2+4=1260 mm. Its height is calculated in the same way. But here you should take into account the gap between the door and the floor - 10-20 mm. 2000+10+25+15 (gap between frame and door)=2050 mm. When constructing a threshold, the height of the door, the double thickness of the frame and the gap between it and the leaf, multiplied by two, are summed up.

Door frame assembly

Assembling the finished box

Modern door models are produced complete with fasteners and frame parts, ready for assembly. In this case, the work will not require much effort. It is necessary to decide on the opening side of the canvas, measure the length of the racks, taking into account the unevenness of the floor and the prepared opening. In accordance with its height, saw off the bottom of the racks. Then install the dowels into the holes located in the end cuts on the side posts of the box. Pull the parts until they fit completely and secure them with corner brackets. For this purpose, there are special grooves on the back of the box.

Door blocks can be sold fully prepared for installation, with seating grooves for hinges, or they can be without them. In this case, you will need to perform a series of actions to cut them out - this process will be discussed below.

DIY box installation

When assembling a door frame with your own hands, first of all you need to adjust the timber to the dimensions of the door leaf. Its dimensions are double the width of the canvas plus 6 mm for gaps. When calculating the height of the box, 10 mm is added to the door dimensions for clearance at the bottom and 3 mm at the top. The top beam and the ends of the posts adjacent to it are cut at an angle of 45º.

Next, the door frame is assembled - its corners are fastened with three self-tapping screws, the length of which should reach the center of the second beam. Two of them are screwed at an angle from the side post upwards, the third is located between them, but is screwed in from above.

Installing hinges

The location of fastening and rotating devices is marked on the doors. To do this, measure 20 cm at the end of the canvas and attach a loop. Its outline is outlined with a pencil or a sharp knife and in this place on required depth a groove is selected. It can be done using a chisel, but in order for the recess to be neat, it is better to use a router - it will allow you to carry out the work more accurately and quickly.

Through the hinge plate attached to the grooves with an awl, places for self-tapping screws are marked and guide holes for them are drilled. Their diameter should be 1-1.5 mm less than the corresponding screw sizes. In the same way, a recess for the crossbar is made on one of the sashes.

Then the doors are placed on the frame, a place for the hinges is marked on the side bars, and a groove for them is made in the same way as on the canvases. There are modern fastening and rotating devices that do not require such work. But butterfly hinges are not particularly popular among door craftsmen - there are too many complaints and they prefer time-tested mechanisms.

Hinges are installed on both door leaves and pillars, and a crossbar is installed on one of the leaves.

Installing a frame in a doorway

When installing the assembled door frame into the opening, using a level and plumb line, the accuracy of its horizontal and vertical position is checked.

The structure is attached to the wall with long screws (8-10 cm). First of all, the side pillars are fixed. Wooden spacers can be installed between them and the wall.

The resulting space around the perimeter of the box is filled with polyurethane foam. The degree of its expansion should be taken into account - one to five. The door block parts must be protected from foam. After it dries, the excess is carefully removed with a knife and the gap is closed with a platband. The door leaf is hung in place and a hole is drilled at a slight angle for the bolt locking plate.

Installation of sliding interior doors

Installation of guides

Interior sliding double-leaf doors, photos of which can be found on the Internet, are a good alternative to swing models. They free up space, which is very important when the apartment area is small.

If you plan to install double-leaf interior doors with your own hands, you should pay attention to Special attention on the material of their manufacture. If for wooden door One guide is enough, but a heavy glass product will require the installation of two structures. Moreover, it is better to plan the lower one in advance so that it is possible to deepen it into the floor. In any case, it is attached to finishing floor, to his concrete base. The horizontality of the guide is checked with a level.

In order to determine the location of the upper guide, which is attached first, the door is leaned against the opening and a horizontal line is drawn along its upper edge. It should be taken into account that there should be a gap of 10-15 mm between the floor and the canvas. You can immediately place a gasket of the required thickness under the door.

The wooden block on which the guide will be attached must be positioned strictly horizontally, otherwise the doors either will not open or will spontaneously move to the side. It is fastened with dowels or self-tapping screws, depending on the wall material. In addition, there are models with a guide that is attached to special brackets or to the ceiling.

Having retreated 2-3 mm from the wall, a guide is installed on the lower edge of the beam using screws. It is set strictly according to level.

The next step consists of attaching the roller mechanisms to the door. At the upper end of the canvas, 20-50 mm are measured on both sides, and the brackets are screwed in with screws. If a lower guide is installed, then a groove 18 mm deep is made in the lower part of the doors. Its width should be 2 mm greater than that of the bottom rail, made in the form of a flag or knife. Since it is not easy to carry out this process at home, it is better to choose a lower guide consisting of a U-shaped profile or two slats.

Hanging the canvas

Rollers with supporting screws are inserted into the upper guide. Limiters are installed at its ends. The canvas is installed on the flag of the bottom rail and hung with brackets on the screws. The fixing nuts are slightly tightened. By turning the screws on the brackets, the door is adjusted vertically, taking into account the gap above the floor. The second door is hung in the same way. Then using wrench The nut is finally tightened and the blades are locked on the rollers.

The final stage of installation of sliding doors is the installation of fittings and a decorative strip that masks the guide rail.

Sooner or later you have to change your interior doors. The procedure is not so complicated that it is necessary to hire a specialist. If you have at least some skills in handling a saw, a level and a plumb line, you can tighten a few self-tapping screws - you can do it yourself. When replacing, before installing the interior door, the old one must be dismantled. And here too there are peculiarities. About all the subtleties - in photos and videos with detailed instructions.

Interior doors are made from different materials. Moreover, the material of both the door leaf and frame is different. The door leaf is:

  • From fiberboard. These are the cheapest doors. Represent wooden frame, to which the laminated fiberboard is attached. They have low sound insulation, they are afraid high humidity, are easily damaged.
  • From MDF. They cost much more, but the quality characteristics are much higher. They have better sound insulation, are not afraid of moisture, are stronger and more durable.
  • Wood. The most expensive doors. Made from different varieties wood - from pine to oak or more exotic species.

Door frames are also made from the same materials. The worst choice is that fiberboard boxes bend even under their own weight, and hanging the door leaf on them is a real pain. So try to take either MDF or wood. There is another material: laminated wood. It is good because it does not need to be processed or painted, but the service life depends on the quality of the film.

Dimensions and equipment

Interior doors are produced in standard sizes, it’s a pity that the standards are different countries are different. For example, in our country, swing doors are made 600 - 900 mm wide with a pitch of 100 mm. In some EU countries the rules are the same - in Germany, Italy and Spain. In France, others are standard. Here the narrowest doors are 690 mm and then in increments of 100 mm.

Is the difference really that important? If you want to change only the door leaf without the frame, then it is important - you will have to choose from your segment or completely change it along with the frame. There is a much greater choice of interior doors of the same standard as in our country, while in France there is much less choice.

What width of doors you need depends on where you are going to put them. If we talk about standards, the following values are recommended:

  • V living room width from 60 to 120 cm, height 2 m;
  • bathroom - width from 60 cm, height 1.9-2 m;
  • in the kitchen, the width of the door leaf is at least 70 cm, height 2 m.

If, when replacing a door, it is decided to make the opening larger/smaller, permission is not required for this, but it is necessary to remain within the limits specified for each room.

How to determine what width of doors to buy? Measure the door leaf you have and you will know what you need. If there are no doors, find the narrowest place in the opening, measuring it, you can find out how wide you need door block. This is a door leaf + door frame. So the outer dimensions of the door frame should be less than the measured value. For example, you got 780 mm, look for a block with parameters of 700 mm. Wider ones cannot be inserted into this opening.

The most complete set of interior doors - with frame, extensions and trims

When choosing a door, pay attention to the equipment. There are three types of assembly:

  • Door leaf. You buy the box separately.
  • Doors with frame. Everything is included, but the box is in the form of separate boards. You will have to file the corners and connect, hang the hinges yourself.
  • Door block. These are ready-to-install doors - the frame is assembled, the hinges are hung. Just cut the sidewalls to the height, align them evenly and secure them.

Even though the quality of the door leaf is the same, the prices for these kits differ significantly. But the difference in the time you spend on installation is significant.

Step-by-step installation of interior doors

In general, there are many subtleties. We will try to describe and illustrate the most common moments in photo or video material.

Step 1: Assembling the Door Frame

If you did not buy an assembled door block, the first thing you will have to do is assemble the door frame. It consists of two long posts located on the sides, and one shorter crossbar at the top - the lintel.

Connection methods

There are at least two options for how to connect these planks to each other:

Regardless of exactly how you plan to connect the elements of the door frame, the first step is to cut down the pillars and lintels on one side. Then they are placed in a box on the floor, checking the correct connection. Next, you need to decide on the height of the side parts of the door frame.

Determining the dimensions

When folded, the required length is measured along the inside of the rack. The racks are not always made the same: the floor is often uneven and this must be taken into account. To do this, take a level and check how level the floor is. If it is perfectly level, the posts will be the same. If there is a deviation, it must be taken into account: make one of the racks longer. Usually this is a few millimeters, but this is also enough for the doors to warp.

When calculating the height, keep in mind that the racks should be 1-2 cm longer than the door leaf (including cuts). Make a 1 cm gap under the door if you are not planning to put a rug under it. If there is a rug/carpet/carpet, it is better to make it larger. Don't be afraid to leave gaps. They are necessary for. Please note once again: the height is measured along the inside of the door frame - from the bottom edge to the cut. Having cut it off, try on the racks in the doorway.

Now you need to saw off the lintel to length and, if necessary, saw on the other side (if the joint is at 45°). The length of the lintel should be such that when folded, the distance between the posts is greater than the width of the door leaf. The minimum gap is 7 mm, but more is often done. 7-8 mm are distributed as follows: 2 mm for hinges, and 2.5-3 mm for expansion gaps. Any interior doors - MDF, fiberboard, wood - change their dimensions depending on humidity. To accommodate these changes, clearances are required. And 5-6 mm is not always enough, especially in damp rooms. For the bathroom, definitely leave a little more, otherwise in high humidity they may have difficulty opening.

So, we have decided on the minimum gaps when installing interior doors:

  • for hinges - 5-6 mm;
  • at the top, bottom and sides - 3 mm;
  • bottom - 1-2 cm.

After you have cut all the pieces and made the cuts, fold the box on the floor. If you notice any shortcomings in the connection somewhere, correct them using sandpaper, fixed on a block. The more accurate the match, the smaller the gap.

Assembly

Regardless of the material of the box and the connection method, holes are pre-drilled for the fasteners so that the material does not tear. The diameter of the drill is 1 mm less than the diameter of the screw.

The box is folded and the angles are set to 90°. Holding the stand and lintel in this position, drill holes with a drill. If there is an assistant, he can hold it. If you are working alone, temporarily secure the correctly aligned box with two cross bars - closer to the top and one at the bottom. This will help you avoid mistakes and make the correct connection.

If connected at an angle of 45°, make three holes on each side. Two on top - a centimeter away from the edge, and one on the side - in the center. In total, three screws are required for each connection. The direction of installation of self-tapping screws is perpendicular to the connection line.

If you connected at 90°, everything is simpler. Drill two holes from above, pointing the drill straight down.

Step 2: Inserting the hinges

Most often, 2 hinges are installed on interior doors, but 3 are possible. They are placed 200-250 mm away from the edge of the door leaf. If the frame and door leaf are made of wood, choose a place so that there are no knots. First, attach the hinges to the door leaf. The operating procedure is as follows:

  • We apply loops to the selected places and outline the contours. The easiest way to do this is with a finely sharpened pencil, but experts advise using a knife blade. This makes it more accurate and leaves smaller gaps.
  • If they have it, if not, take a chisel and select a material for the thickness of the loop. There is no need to make any more sampling, just for the thickness of the metal.
  • A loop is installed in the prepared recess. Its plane should be flush with the surface of the canvas.
  • The exposed loop is fixed with self-tapping screws.

Having secured two hinges, lay the door leaf in assembled box, set the correct gaps: on the hinge side - 5-6 mm, 3 mm on the opposite side and on top. Having set these gaps, the canvas is fixed using wedges. Positioned exactly horizontally and vertical plane(you can use pads if necessary).

After setting, mark the locations of the mating parts of the loops. Sometimes it is more convenient to remove an already installed hinge and then install it in place. A notch is also made according to the markings. Depth - so that the surface of the hinge is flush with the surface of the door frame.

DIY door hanging is described in detail in the video.

Step 3: Installing the Door Frame

The assembled box must be correctly inserted into the opening. This is a very responsible task. Before installing an interior door, knock down everything in the opening that could fall off. If the wall is too loose, the surface is treated with deep penetration primers with an astringent effect. If there are too large holes, they are sealed with plaster; very large protrusions are trimmed off. It is easier to insert an interior door into the prepared opening. If this is your first time doing this on your own, make it easier on yourself.

The box is displayed without the door leaf. It is oriented strictly vertically. Verticality is checked not only by level, but also by plumb line. The level often gives an error, so it is more reliable to check with a plumb line.

To prevent the box from becoming warped during installation, install temporary spacers on the floor and bevels in the corners which give a high degree of rigidity. In order for the doors to open, they are inserted in the same plane with the wall. This is the only way it will open completely. If the wall is uneven, place the box not along the wall, but vertically. Otherwise there will be problems with opening or closing the door.

How to insert an interior door with your own hands - in the same plane as the wall

Once the position is selected, you can secure it. This is done using mounting wedges - triangular wooden or plastic bars. First, wedges are placed on both sides of the lintel - crossbars, then above the racks. In this way, the position of the box relative to the doorway is selected and fixed. Next, the verticality of the racks is checked again. They are checked in two planes so that they are not tilted forward or backward.

Then install the wedges at the bottom, then after about 50-60 cm, checking that the racks are exactly level. Wedge additionally and cross bar- in the middle. Check whether the elements of the box are bent somewhere, and correct if necessary. You can start fastening.

Step 4: Attaching the Box to the Doorway

There are also two mounting methods: through directly to the wall and with mounting plates. If the wall allows and you are not afraid of the fastener caps in the box, you can attach it all the way through. It's reliable.

To install interior doors, it is enough to screw two self-tapping screws into the cutouts for the hinges and, on the other hand, under the plate of the lock mate. Additional holes are drilled in the cutouts. They are made so as not to fall into the holes for fastening the hinges or mating part. Make sure that the head of the screws is recessed and does not interfere with the installation of the hinges and lining.

Installation of interior doors according to this diagram is shown in the video. There are also several interesting nuances about exposing the door frame.

If such a quantity of fasteners seems unreliable, drill through and cover the holes with decorative washers matched to match. Or there is also a special molding made of MDF with removable slats. The fastener is installed in the prepared groove and then closed with a strip.

The second method is secret, the fasteners are not visible. First attach from the back of the box mounting plates. In principle, it can be used for plasterboard, but there are also special ones that are thicker, although when installing interior doors, plasterboard ones will suffice.

Step 5: Foaming

After all the gaps are set and the wedges are installed, the gaps between the frame and the wall are filled with polyurethane foam. For better polymerization, the wall is moistened with water from a spray bottle. Then squeeze out the foam, filling no more than 2/3. Too much a large number of foam may cause the box to blow inward. So don't overdo it.

To ensure that the doors are not warped by the foam, spacers are installed. But if you don't overdo it with foam, nothing should happen.

Spacers for fixing the frame - when installing the interior door this way, the frame should stand level

After the foam has polymerized (the exact time is indicated on the cylinder), the spacers are removed and hung door leaf and check the operation of the door. Next come Finishing work: and platbands, if necessary - additions.

You know how to install an interior door with your own hands. There is nothing overly complicated, but we tried to describe the main nuances. There is a lot of useful information in the video - these are recommendations from practitioners.

How to properly install a double interior structure

Today you will learn what is special about installing double doors and what tools are useful for installation. We will also tell you about the intricacies of this process.

If you decide to acquire such a practical piece of furniture as a double-leaf interior door, then you just need to know some of its features and subtleties.

This type differs in several categories:

  • Based on the principle of operation: sliding (see Do-it-yourself sliding interior doors: installation technology) and swing doors.
  • By composition (material of manufacture): wooden, MDF, plastic, glass, aluminum.
  • By type of construction: massive, solid paneled or glazed.

First of all, you need to get rid of the old one, its box and cash. We do this using an ax and a hammer or a bent pry bar with a nail puller.

Important! If you want to save the dismantled box, first carefully remove the trim. Then clean the opening from cement and foam. After this, use a screwdriver to unscrew the screws from the box beam, or cut off the nails with a grinder.

Measuring and preparing the opening

The next stage is installation. First of all, think about how to install: in the form of a swing or sliding design.

Each type of opening has its own characteristics:

  • Sliding ones will be optimal in a small room. They save space. In order for the products to diverge to the sides, you need to buy a special design for hanging and sliding.

Important! If you build a box on both sides (see How to make a doorway from plasterboard), then when you open it they will hide there and will not be visible. But at the same time, the usable area will be reduced due to the dimensions of the box.

  • Installation as swing doors is the most popular option. This method of opening the panels improves sound insulation compared to a sliding structure. But it will take up more space, which can be used to place furniture near the opening. Swing interior designs Most often installed in spacious rooms.

After choosing the design feature of the opening, you need to take measurements of your opening and, if necessary, reduce it or increase it. Please note that the width of the opening should be 90 - 110 mm larger than the canvas.

The width of the required opening for swing doors is calculated using the formula:

  • Shpr= 2*(Tdk+3+Shdp)+4, where
  • Shpr – opening width;
  • Тдк – thickness of the box beam;
  • Wdp – width of the canvas.

If you plan to install sliding doors, then prepare the opening so that it is 100mm narrower than the width of the two panels. The ends of the opening can be refined using additional strips.

Now you can begin preparing the opening. We carry out the expansion using a hammer drill, grinder or chainsaw. It all depends on the material used to make the walls. We narrow the opening using plaster, putty or lumber (for wooden walls).

Installation of double doors: assembling the door frame

Before you start assembling the box for double door you need to adjust the timber to the required dimensions.

To do this, use the formula:

  • Швк= 2*(Шд+3)+4, where
  • Shvk – width inside boxes;
  • Шд – door width.

You need this data before installing a double interior door:

  • After marking, we cut the box beam at an angle of 45 degrees. The easiest way to do this is with a miter saw. If it is not there, then use a fine-toothed hacksaw and a miter box.
  • Next, we cut the hinges (see Hinges for interior doors) into the vertical parts. We do this using a router or a hammer with a chisel. If you don’t have the desire or time for this operation, then when choosing loops, pay attention to overhead butterfly loops. There is no need to cut them in.
  • The final stage in assembling the box is connecting all its parts. First, we connect the parts and twist them with three self-tapping screws.

Important! To prevent the wood from cracking, you need to make a hole before screwing in the screw. With a self-tapping screw thickness of 3.5 mm, the drill should have a diameter of 2.5 mm.

Sequencing:

  • We insert the assembled box into the opening and, using a level, level it. Make sure not only to maintain the vertical, but also to ensure that the edges of the beam do not protrude beyond the opening.
  • After placing, we fix the box with wedges.
  • We drill holes in the box for the screws. At the same time, we make marks in the wall opposite them.
  • We remove the box and drill holes in the wall for the plugs.
  • We insert the plugs and the box into place. We secure it with self-tapping screws.
  • We fill the cracks with professional polyurethane foam.

Now you can hang the door on the hinges and carry out the final work: inserting the lock and framing it with a platband.
