What to feed strawberries when flowering. Caring for strawberries during flowering and fruiting How to feed strawberries when they bloom

Strawberries are a demanding berry. For getting better harvest you need high-quality and timely care, rich soil and good lighting. One of the most important stages of caring for strawberries is feeding during the formation of the ovaries. How to feed strawberries during flowering for a good harvest and how to do it correctly - read on.

Means for feeding strawberries during flowering

Fertilizing strawberries is a very serious matter. The quality of the harvest subsequently depends on the correct and timely addition of fertilizers. Most important stage caring for strawberries during their flowering. Strawberries need fertilizing, protection from pests, and removal of excess mustache.

Already in the spring, in mid-May, when the ovaries begin to bud on the strawberry shoots, it is important to prepare the soil for applying fertilizers. To do this, it is carefully loosened - such soil absorbs better useful material from fertilizers.

Important! Fertilizing strawberries during flowering is carried out only once, so you need to choose the right mineral fertilizers for open ground.

A novice gardener may have a question: how to feed and spray strawberries when they bloom. First things first.

Root feeding of strawberries

During fruit set, strawberries need a high potassium content. To saturate the soil with it, gardeners often use an infusion of chicken manure or a mixture of mullein and ash. Potassium nitrate (1 teaspoon per 10 liters of water) will also be useful. 0.5 liters of solution is poured under each bush. The use of the solution is recommended precisely during the appearance of buds.

When inflorescences appear, the strawberries are watered with a solution of chicken droppings or a mixture of mullein and ash (0.5 liters per 10 liters of water).

Strawberry blossom

Ammophoska will be a good fertilizer, as it does not contain nitrates. It is rich in nitrogen, calcium, phosphorus and sulfur. The content of each element is about 15% of the total volume of fertilizer. It can be used on its own or added to a compost mixture.

Foliar feeding

Foliar feeding - spraying the leaves of a plant with fertilizer. There are several types:

  • Boric acid increases the number of inflorescences. To spray, 1 g of boric acid must be diluted in 10 liters of water.
  • Zinc sulfate. To treat bushes, use a 0.02% solution. This feeding saturates strawberries with microelements and promotes the formation of ovaries, increasing yield by up to 30%.

Fertilizing strawberries

Traditional methods

In addition to ready-made fertilizer compositions, you can treat them with products that every home has:

  • Yeast contains proteins, carbohydrates, fats, potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus. To feed, 1 teaspoon of yeast is diluted in 1 liter of warm water and left for 2 hours, after which the resulting solution is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:5. This species can be fertilized three times per season: during budding, when green berries appear and after harvesting.
  • Onion peels are rich in carotene (stimulates the immune system, destroys fungus and rot), phytoncides and vitamin B, which help improve plant growth. To obtain a solution 1 tbsp. 3 liters of boiling water are poured into the husk and left to infuse for 2 days. Before use, dilute with water (1:2). The prepared solution can be watered and sprayed on the plant.

Care and watering

To prevent beneficial substances from “going nowhere”, it is important to promptly trim excess leaves and tendrils, which do not have a productive effect, but take away a lot of useful elements. This is especially true for dried leaves, which needlessly take away moisture. To remove, you can use pruners and carefully trim off the excess.

It will also be correct to remove too small inflorescences, in the place of which larger flowers will then grow. Large flowers They produce sweet berries, which is important. Be sure to loosen the soil around the bush and remove weeds. This way the strawberries will grow better.

Strawberry pruning

When watering strawberries, you need to follow some rules. Strawberry bushes have a shallow root system and are unable to take moisture from deep in the soil. The main thing is not to overdo it when watering the berries. Excess moisture leads to rotting, and lack of moisture leads to drying out.

If the site has loose soil, it is enough to use 10-12 liters of water to water 1 square meter. m, with a high clay content in the soil - 2 liters more. Blooming strawberries water a little in the morning warm water. This way it is better absorbed and does not overcool the plant. Watering is carried out once every 10 days, if the weather is hot, then 2-3 times a week.

Important! It is necessary to water the strawberries at the root during flowering so that water does not get on the inflorescences.

Processing strawberries during flowering

To increase productivity, you need to protect strawberries from pests and properly care for them both during flowering and after - during fruiting.

During the flowering period, it is better to avoid treating the plant against harmful insects so as not to frighten off pollinating insects. You can resort to drastic measures when you really need it.

The list of products that can be used during flowering is very limited. Suitable for processing bushes:

  • Boric acid. To prepare the solution, you need to dilute a third of a teaspoon in 1 bucket of water. By spraying with this solution, you can protect strawberries from pests and make the bushes more resilient. It is also permissible to use a solution of potassium permanganate, but it is only effective against pests.
  • Ovary is a special preparation for processing strawberries and garden strawberries during flowering. To spray plants you will need only 2 g per 1 liter of water. You should not make a lot of solution, as it should be stored in finished form no more than a day is possible.
  • Acrophyte is used to defeat nervous system pests Not only gets rid of harmful insects, but also accelerates the growth and development of strawberries.

Pests and diseases

Strawberry diseases

During flowering, plants can be affected by diseases that damage the inflorescences, stopping the formation of berries. The most common are:

If the question arises about what you can feed strawberries after flowering, then the answer is simple - you can use the same fertilizers as during flowering. By the best means there will be organic compounds without chemical additives, such as compost or mullein. Receiving only natural fertilizers, the berry will grow large and very sweet. It is very important that the bushes receive fertilizer in small portions throughout the summer.

Processing and fertilizing strawberries after harvest

Strawberry ripening time after flowering

The ripening time of strawberries depends not only on proper care and conditions. The main factor in cultivation is the territorial location. For example, in the southern regions the harvest can be harvested already in late May - early June, and in middle lane- in the second half of July. In the northern regions, ripening occurs later.

On average, 4-5 weeks pass from the moment of flowering to the ripening of the berries. Decisive role weather conditions play a role here, and, naturally, ripening occurs faster in warm, sunny weather.

According to the intensity of fruiting, strawberries are divided into two types:

  • ordinary - bears fruit once per season;
  • remontant - produces a harvest from May to September-October.

If it is important for a gardener that strawberries delight with their taste throughout the summer, it is better to choose the second option.

To obtain a rich harvest, you need to feed not only during the period of setting inflorescences, but also after - during fruiting. By following the recommendations for caring for the crop, you can get a rich harvest of sweet berries the very next year after planting the seedlings.

Fertilizer for strawberries - how to increase yield in simple ways?

In order for strawberry fertilizer to benefit, experienced gardeners advise not to neglect important rules and follow agricultural cultivation techniques, both in spring and summer, and in autumn. Fertilizing for garden strawberries is necessary immediately after awakening, during flowering, during the formation of berries, as well as after harvesting, when the buds of the future harvest begin to form. To do everything right, read the entire article...

Fertilizer for strawberries in spring - let's activate growth!

The long, cold winter has ended, the plants have used up all their nutrient reserves, and now the deficit needs to be replenished. Before fertilizing strawberries in the spring, you need to prepare them for this process - remove the beds and process them.

Plants of the first year of life do not require fertilizing if it was done in the spring of this year and was fertilized, because has not yet used up the fertilizing applied to the planting holes. The next seasons crop must be fertilized in order to obtain generous and delicious harvest. Fertilizing strawberries is divided into three stages - fertilizing strawberries in the spring, after fruiting, when planting in summer or autumn, and when preparing strawberry bushes for winter.

It should be immediately noted that each gardener independently determines the need to fertilize strawberries, taking into account previously applied fertilizers, the condition and growth of the plants, as well as the structure and composition of the soil.

On a note: garden strawberries oversaturated with fertilizers in the spring will produce good foliage, but in this case you should not expect a rich harvest of berries, because an excess of microelements will not only lead to the active growth of the green part, but will also be a good help for the appearance of. In simple words, the plant will need to get rid of unnecessary elements, so internal processes will be disrupted, the immunity and protective functions of the strawberry will decrease, and the result of the gardener’s enormous efforts is plant disease.

Timely applied fertilizer will good stimulant strawberry growth, and it is necessary to feed both the above-ground part and the roots, i.e. carry out foliar and root feeding. Before fertilizing strawberries after winter, you need to make sure that the soil is dry and that the bushes are restored after winter. If you know how to clean the garden bed and what to do next, let’s move on directly to fertilizing.

fertilizing strawberries with potassium permanganate - pictured

The first fertilizer for strawberries needs to be applied after loosening is completed, this will be the beginning of a new season of battle for the harvest. Feeding strawberries with iodine has become popular among many summer residents, but not everyone knows what effect such feeding will have, so we’ll figure it out.

First of all, an antiseptic protects the plant from disease. Strawberry bushes treated with iodine practically do not suffer from gray rot and powdery mildew. For ten liters of water, take 7-10 drops of iodine, and with the prepared solution, treat the plants one leaf at a time using a watering can with a shower head immediately after cleaning the beds, and in order not to burn the leaves, follow the dosage.

Strawberries should be treated with iodine in cloudy weather, or in the evening when there is no bright sun, so as not to burn the leaf blades. There should be 2-3 such treatments with iodine before the berries begin to appear. And remember, in this case, iodine acts more as a preventative against diseases.

5-7 days after spraying with iodine, strawberries are fed, which is diluted with water in the ratio of 1 tablespoon per 10 liters of water. Pour 0.5 liters of the prepared solution under each plant. In addition to urea, of course, they use them, which are prepared with your own hands and certainly do not contain any chemicals.

If everything is done correctly and on time, nitrogen-containing fertilizers are used, then the leaves and shoots will grow well, and you will get a tasty bright red berry in the summer. With a lack of nitrogen, the leaves will turn pale, the berries will be small, and the taste will be poor. Also in early spring strawberries can be fed with fertilizer Gumi-Omi Berries, Zdraven for strawberries and raspberries, Bona Forte, OMU Universal, Gumat +7, Robin Green, etc.

On a note: You need to start feeding strawberries when the soil warms up to + 8°C; at lower temperatures, the roots of garden strawberries do not absorb fertilizers.

fertilizing strawberries with nitrogen-containing fertilizer during flowering - pictured

Fertilizing strawberries during flowering can be done with the following homemade fertilizer, which is used by experienced gardeners - take 1 glass of wood ash, pour 2 liters of boiling water, let it brew for two hours, then add 1.5-2 grams of potassium permanganate, 2.5- 3 grams of boric acid, 10 drops of iodine and pour 10 liters of warm, settled (non-chlorinated) water and stir thoroughly. Pour 1 cup (250 ml) of this fertilizer under each strawberry bush.

In addition to the above fertilizers, gardeners have great success feeding strawberries with yeast, which is prepared as follows: take a pack of fresh store-bought yeast (or a bag of dry yeast, 10 grams), put it in a 3-liter jar, and add 100 grams of granulated sugar (1/2 faceted glass) and this whole substance is filled with settled water up to the shoulders of the jar so that during fermentation it does not overflow.

fertilizing strawberries during flowering - in the photo

Mix the yeast solution well and leave it in a greenhouse or other warm place for a day or two until fermentation subsides. When the fermentation process is completed, 1 glass (250 ml) of the resulting concentrated mixture must be diluted in 10 liters of water and pour the finished solution in 0.5 liter increments under one bush.

Fertilizing strawberries with yeast should be done no more than 3 times during the entire growing season. Fertilize strictly on wet soil, i.e. First you need to water the garden bed well! And remember, when using yeast-based fertilizers, it is necessary to replenish the reserves of potassium in the soil, which is very strongly absorbed from the soil by strawberries (fertilize with wood ash after 14-15 days, sprinkling it between rows or using a liquid solution). Fertilizer for strawberries, applied in the spring, activates growth and leads to a decent harvest.

Fertilizing strawberries during fruiting - prolonging the harvest

With the onset of summer, novice gardeners are again faced with the question - what should be the feeding of strawberries during fruiting? To improve fruiting and prolong the fruit harvest, the plant must be fed again.

At the beginning of summer, the crop forms its first fruits, so potassium is especially needed. As soon as the first berries begin to appear, wood ash is added between the rows (1 handful per bush, or 0.5 liters of liquid solution - pour 2 cups of boiling water, leave for 2-3 hours and dilute with 10 liters of warm water).

feeding strawberries with chicken droppings - pictured

If you use mineral fertilizers, then during the fruiting period you can give strawberries Potassium Monophosphate (1 tbsp/10 l), Kemira Lux or Universal, which must be diluted strictly according to the instructions. Fruiting lasts about two to three weeks, but even during this time the plant needs additional substances.

Fertilizing strawberries with a solution of mullein in water (1:15) is the most universal, and you can also use a solution of chicken manure (1:10). In addition, fertilizers that were used in early spring can also be applied and alternated during fruiting.

Don’t forget that after harvesting, strawberries need to be fed, loosened and watered, because it is after harvesting the berries that leaves and roots begin to actively grow, and next year’s buds begin to form, so you shouldn’t abandon the garden bed until the fall. And if you decide to mow the strawberry leaves, then do it immediately after the bushes bear fruit, otherwise the plants may not have time to fully recover.

How to fertilize strawberries when planting?

Spring, summer and the first half of autumn are the times when strawberries are planted; it depends on the season what to fertilize strawberries with when planting. Fertilizers that can be used in the spring may not always be accepted autumn period.

strawberry harvest proper feeding- on the picture

Spring planting is considered successful, just like the autumn and summer. The soil, before planting, must be dug up, watered and fertilized. To bear fruit and grow normally, bushes need mineral and organic fertilizers. Complex preparations that contain nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus have a greater effect; the use of manure and humus is successful. Three types of fertilizer mixtures are especially popular:

  1. Bucket of soil, the same amount of compost and manure, 1 liter wood ash;
  2. A bucket of humus, 20 g of potassium salt, 40 g of superphosphate;
  3. A bucket of compost, 40 g of superphosphate, 0.5 l of ash.

For a 10 m² bed you will need 2-2.5 buckets of the mixture. If planting is carried out in the spring, then you need to add urea to the mixture, or immediately after planting in the garden, feed it with green liquid fertilizer. At summer planting, it is better to use the full complex fertilizer with a low nitrogen content, nitrogen is not given in the fall so that the plants have time to get stronger before the arrival of frost, and do not grow lush foliage in winter.

Fertilizing strawberries in the fall - preparing the bushes for winter

Fertilizer for strawberries in the fall plays an important role. In what month to do this depends not only on the variety, but also on the climatic conditions of cultivation, because in the Kuban at the end of September it is still quite hot, and in the Urals and Siberia, the Leningrad region, and the Moscow region, prolonged rains can begin and the temperature can drop quite low, so The timing of fertilizing strawberries in the fall will vary.

Each gardener independently decides when to feed strawberries in September or October, taking into account weather conditions and plant health. Don’t forget, when the soil temperature drops below +8 °C, strawberry roots stop absorbing nutrients.

autumn feeding strawberries - in the photo
fertilizing strawberries in the fall - pictured

In the fall, strawberries must be given potassium and phosphorus so that the plants become stronger for winter. Agronomists still recommend using mineral complexes in the autumn rather than homemade compounds; in addition, fertilizing in accordance with the instructions will not harm either plants or humans.

Many summer residents use Osennee, Fertika, etc. fertilizers in the fall. Instead of using minerals, you can do the following - loosen the bed, add humus or compost on top of the bushes to cover the roots for the winter, and pour 1 tbsp under each plant. wood ash and mix with soil.

Use liquid fertilizer based on ash (pour 2 glasses with a liter of boiling water, leave for 2-3 hours and add 10 liters of water), pouring at least 0.5 liters under the bush. The ash solution can still be used as foliar feeding in the fall; you need to water the strawberry bed well from a watering can with a shower head.

And remember, dear summer residents and gardeners, no matter how many options for feeding and fertilizers for strawberries exist, agronomists recommend the usual garden strawberries feed 3-4 times per season, and feed remontant varieties every 7-10 days. Have a good harvest!

Correctly chosen fertilizing is a guarantee of a good strawberry harvest

Fertilizing strawberries is a desirable procedure during the formation of the ovary and active fruiting. This is especially true for remontant strawberries. Get big and sweet berry It is possible only with additional nutrition of the bushes.

Why feed strawberries during flowering and fruiting?

Throughout the entire development cycle, the plant needs nutrients and minerals. During active growth, flowering and ovary formation, fruiting and after harvesting - strawberries require various additives and fertilizing. Even the most fertile soil, after a few years, tends to become depleted, as a result of which the yield and size of fruits decrease, and their taste qualities are decreasing.

During the period of flowering and the formation of strawberries, the bushes need additional nutrition, but is it possible to feed strawberries during fruiting? There is an opinion that during the period of active growth and ripening of berries it is not recommended to add any additives, since the fruits tend to absorb everything that the bush feeds on.

This is true, but it is during this period that plants need support. Therefore, you need to carefully choose: what to feed strawberries during fruiting, and fertilizers that can be applied to the berries.

How to fertilize strawberries during flowering

In addition to planned seasonal feeding strawberries, you need to take care of them proper nutrition at the beginning of flowering. Depending on the climate of the area, the first flower stalks appear at the beginning or end of May. During this period, strawberries need large quantities potassium Feeding can be done by root method, or by spraying.

How to feed strawberries: root feeding recipes

The simplest and quick way to feed flowering strawberry bushes - use a solution of potassium nitrate: you need to use a teaspoon of the substance per 10 liters of water, 0.5 liter is enough for one bush.

The special preparation "Ovary" contains all the necessary substances to increase the number of peduncles and active formation of the ovary. When using, you must strictly follow the instructions.

Many gardeners, when caring for strawberries, prefer to use only natural substances. Before feeding strawberries, we suggest you familiarize yourself with the most popular folk recipes.

Wood ash solution

For 1 liter of water use a glass of ash. Pour boiling water over it and stir thoroughly. When the solution has cooled, it is filtered and used for feeding (0.5 liters per bush).

Bird droppings or cow manure

For a 10 liter bucket, take 2.5 kg of manure, fill it to the top with water and leave it to infuse for a day, after which it is thoroughly mixed. To avoid smell before infusion, add humate "Baikal". 1 liter of the finished infusion is diluted in 20 liters of water. It is enough to use 0.5 liters per bush. The substance is quite caustic, so it is necessary to water carefully, without getting on the above-ground part of the plant.

Yeast fertilizer for strawberries

1 kg of fresh yeast is dissolved in 5 liters of water and allowed to brew for a day. Then 1 liter of the mixture is diluted in 20 liters of liquid, and the plants are fed - 0.5 liters per bush.

Foliar feeding of strawberries during the flowering period

Foliar feeding of strawberries involves spraying the bushes with nutrient solutions. It is important to carefully treat the lower part of the leaves, since it is responsible for absorbing nutrients.

Among the finished products, the most effective and recognized are “Agros”, “Gera” and “Rubin”. It is necessary to strictly adhere to the dosage standards indicated on the packaging.

The following substances can also be used for spraying:

  • 2 gr. potassium permanganate and potassium sulfate, 1 g of boric acid per 1 liter of water. The bushes are carefully treated with the resulting solution;
  • Potassium nitrate: teaspoon per 5 liters of liquid.

To treat the bushes, use the same yeast solution recipe as for root feeding.

Nettle tincture for spraying strawberries

It is necessary to collect fresh nettles and chop them finely. Fill a 10 liter bucket with chopped nettles and pour hot water, plus 50-60 degrees Celsius. Leave for 24 hours. The finished infusion is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10. The bushes are sprayed with the solution during the flowering period.

Fertilizing strawberries during fruiting

In searching for an answer to the question: is it necessary to feed strawberries during fruiting, pay attention to the recommendations of gardeners. It has been experimentally confirmed that fertilizing strawberries during this period allows you to grow a plentiful, large and sweet harvest. Fertilizing also stimulates the ripening of berries, which is very important in bad weather conditions and early frosts.

How to feed strawberries at the root during fruiting period

During the period of formation and ripening of berries, you should not use chemicals, since the berries absorb and accumulate substances harmful to the body. Should be used natural remedies, available to every summer resident:

  • Treatment of strawberries during fruiting with compost: 1 kg of rotted fertilizer is diluted in a bucket of water and the bushes are watered;
  • Chicken manure is infused in water at the rate of 1-2 kg per bucket of water for 2-3 days. It should be used in the proportion of 1 part of the infusion of litter to 10 parts of water;
  • Cow dung is infused for 3-4 days in warm water at the rate of 2-3 kg per bucket of water. 4 liters of the finished infusion are diluted with 10 liters of water; 0.5 liters are used to water 1 bush.

Foliar feeding of strawberries during fruiting is prohibited

Spraying strawberries during fruiting is not allowed. During this period, it is recommended to feed and water the bushes only using the root method. Rainy weather and improper watering can lead to the death of an entire plantation.

How to fertilize strawberries during fruiting: video

It is important to know not only how to treat strawberries during fruiting, but also when to do it. Root feeding of strawberries, how chemicals, and organic substances - must be carried out in moist soil after watering or good rain. Foliar - on the contrary, in dry and sunny weather, since beneficial substances must be absorbed into the leaves.

For spraying and watering with fertilizers, you should choose the evening time when the sun sets. Processing during the day is unacceptable, since the leaves of the plant will burn if liquid enters.

Any fertilizing, root or foliar, is carried out once during a certain period of development of the strawberry bush. For example, during flowering, and the next one - during fruiting.

Standard fertilizing recipes are ideal for light loamy and sandy loam soil with a low salt content. You can find out exactly what plants need only by analyzing the soil for its components.

Bottom line

Fertilizing strawberries during flowering and fruiting is a necessary procedure. The quantity and quality of the harvest depends on this. It is necessary to strictly separate root and foliar fertilizing, and follow the norms for applying fertilizers.

To harvest a decent harvest of tender and juicy strawberries, you need to look after them like a girl, feed them, water them, fertilize the soil, and then they will certainly delight you with ripe, bright, juicy and large berries. So, let's figure out what kind of feeding strawberries need during flowering and fruiting, in order to rejoice later wonderful harvest. And what wonderful things you can cook with strawberries, tasty and healthy!

Loosen the soil around the bushes in a timely manner, remove annoying weeds, water the bushes so that nutrients from the ground are better absorbed, and apply the necessary fertilizing is the key to the quality of the strawberry harvest. By itself, it’s unlikely that anything will grow more fruitful, so let’s be patient and move forward for a record harvest of juicy berries!

It is necessary to start fertilizing in the spring before flowering begins, with the appearance of the first tender leaves on the bushes. This can be done like this: take dry chicken droppings and add water at a rate of 1:10. Leave for three days. We carefully water the young bushes, avoiding getting them on the leaves, because chicken droppings can burn the tender leaves of the bushes.

Flowering and feeding

At the end of spring - at the beginning of summer, the first flower stalks appear on the berries. This is the most important period for our pet. When it blooms, it needs to be fed, the bushes taken care of, and protected from diseases and various pests. Correct fertilizing at this time will give a high quality harvest. At this very time, strawberries need calcium - chicken droppings and ash are perfect. Very good for strawberries yeast feeding, which, incidentally, is loved by all garden plants, and experienced gardeners They advise not to neglect regular baker's yeast as a fertilizer for your garden.

Yeast feeding

This unique fertilizer consists of ordinary yeast. To prepare it you will need:

1 kg live yeast
- 5 liters of water

Dilute the yeast with lukewarm water and let it sit. Before it’s time to feed, you need to take half a liter of infusion and dilute it in a bucket of water. The fertilizer is ready - apply half a liter per bush.

Dry yeast is also used. One packet of yeast plus two tablespoons of sugar. Dissolve them in warm water, adding sugar. Then pour the mixture into a bucket of water, leave it for a couple of hours, then pour half a liter of the solution again into a ten-liter bucket of water - fertilizing strawberries folk remedies ready, cheap and cheerful, as people say.
Look: you can use strawberries on them and please your household.

Foliar feeding

When will it appear abundant flowering, you can spray using a weak 0.02% solution of zinc sulfate. There are also fertilizers for strawberries. Their use will increase the yield by about three times - add 2 grams of potassium permanganate to a ten-liter bucket of water and apply spraying. Specially sprinkle the leaves with inside, since the lower part of the leaves absorbs more fertilizer.

Also apply mineral fertilizers that will help our plant gain sufficient strength. Perfect for this purpose boric acid. You need one pinch per bucket of water. You only need to fertilize the flowering plant once per season.

Berries ripening and feeding

The first harvest that strawberries produce is, as a rule, always large; the second or third is not so beautiful and differs in size. This can be corrected with fertilizing.

To do this you can use:

Dry mullein is poured with water, and after infusion, the bushes are watered.
- Place chicken droppings in water, applying it to water tenfold, leave for 3 days, water very carefully so as not to get on the leaves and berries.
- Dilute the compost with water and water the bushes at the root.

Fertilizing strawberries during flowering and fruiting plays a significant role in the quality and quantity of the harvest. But there are some rules that must be followed:
- fertilizing the plant during flowering should occur only once;
- it is best to use organic fertilizers so that your berries do not receive any chemicals at all;
- It is best to fertilize the soil after watering.
Prepare and pour strawberry syrup over them, incredibly delicious!

Urea for strawberries

Nitrogen is very useful for strawberries, which makes their berries large, bright and juicy. For these purposes, buy urea, and in early spring, after removing everything unnecessary from the bushes, water them with the following mixture: dissolve a spoonful of urea in a bucket of warm water, and pour a half-liter jar under each bush. This will be enough, there is no need to overdo it, because the berry will become sour.

Removing antennae

In addition to fertilizing, there are some other rules, following which your harvest will increase significantly and its quality will be excellent. for example, removing the antennae in time. The mustache takes moisture from the soil, thereby preventing the bush from gaining strength to form berries. Therefore, it is better to carefully remove them with pruning shears. Dried leaves must also be removed. All this deprives the bushes of some nutrients, so timely attention must be paid to the removal of tendrils and old leaves.

Watering blooming strawberries

The strawberry roots are very close to the surface, which means that the plant itself cannot extract water from the soil. Therefore, it is important to provide a sufficient amount of moisture, but not to overdo it, since excess water can lead to damage to the root.
When watering, you need to take into account the type of soil. If clay predominates in the soil, then for irrigation you need 12-14 liters of moisture per meter kW. Loose soil will require less water, 12 liters per kW meter. It is best to water the plant in the morning, and the water should not be cold. In hot weather, it is recommended to water strawberries once every couple of days. During the rainy season, our plant needs protection, the best way to do this is to cover the strawberries with film while damp to avoid the appearance of fungal diseases. When watering blooming berries, it is best to use a watering can so that water does not get on the flowers.

Pollination

If suddenly you notice on the bushes of your beauty, instead of red berries, deformed fruits that are not red at all, this means that the plant did not have enough pollination. This could be affected by frequent rains, fog, cold weather, or a lack of bees. You can help your pet in this way: dissolve a spoonful of honey in one liter of water and sprinkle the bushes - the bees will definitely fly to your aid. You can increase pollination in another way by planting new varieties of strawberries next to old ones; when the wind flows, the plants will exchange pollen.

By using all these methods, you will stop wondering what fertilizing strawberries need during the fruiting and flowering period, your harvest will be plentiful, and its quality will please any gardener. There will be enough jam for the winter, and in the summer you can pamper your family with fresh, tasty, clean, hand-grown berries.
Apply strawberries to

To obtain good harvest For strawberries, it is necessary to provide them with proper and timely feeding. This is especially true for young plants that will bear fruit only for the first year. Any fertilizer must be kept in the recommended proportions and prepared from high-quality ingredients.

Feeding remontant strawberries

  • These strawberries must be fed exactly on time, at least 3 times a day. in a year. Before rapid leaf growth, the plant can be fed with a solution of manure and ammonium sulfate. It is enough to mix 1 tbsp. l. sulfate with 2 cups of cow dung and dilute them in 10 liters of water. It is advisable to pour 1 liter of fertilizer under each bush.
  • In the first year of planting, it is advisable to water it with a solution of mullein, diluting 1 glass in 5 liters of water. You can pour 1 liter of the resulting mixture under each bush. Nettle infusion has also proven itself well. To prepare it, you need to fill a bucket of freshly picked herbs with water and leave to infuse for 3 days. You can spray the strawberry bushes with this infusion for the first time even before it begins to bloom. And the second time after the harvest is harvested.
  • Before flowering at the end of May, it also doesn’t hurt to water it with fertilizers. To do this you will need 10 liters of water, 2 tbsp. l. nitrophoska and 1 tsp. potassium sulfate. Under each bush you need to pour at least 0.5 liters of the resulting fertilizer.
  • It is advisable to fertilize in the spring just before the leaves bloom. This can be done simultaneously with the removal of old tendrils, leaves, and even replanting.
  • You should feed strawberries very carefully with chicken droppings or humus, because if you fall asleep on the bush itself, you can destroy the whole future harvest berries

How to feed strawberries during flowering?

  • During fruit formation, strawberries need a large amount of potassium, so you can use infusion of chicken manure, ash or potassium nitrate as a top dressing.

  • You can feed plants 2 times per season; a 5-liter bucket is usually enough for 10 bushes. A pack of yeast weighing 1 kg must be diluted in 5 liters of water. To feed, 0.5 liters of the mixture should be diluted in 10 liters of water. It is enough to pour 0.5 liters of the resulting mixture under the strawberry bush.
  • In addition to regular yeast, you can also use quick yeast. 1 packet of dry yeast, 2 tbsp. Dilute spoons of sugar in a small amount of warm water and add the mixture to a bucket of water, then leave to infuse for 2 hours. When planning to water the strawberries, you need to add 0.5 liters of this solution to the watering can.

Fertilizing strawberries plays important role in berry ripening. It can and should be carried out immediately after planting, during growth and even during the flowering period. Remember that fertilizing during the flowering period of strawberries should be carried out only once and using the recommended types of fertilizers!
