Another question is whether parents manage to find exactly what they would like in stores, or whether there is actually nothing ideal among the assortment. Both reasons that prevent you from purchasing this or that product, one way or another suggest the idea that it would be nice to make it yourself. For example, a highchair - if dad has sufficient experience working with various instruments, he can easily make it with his own hands.

Peculiarities

Contrary to its apparent simplicity, a DIY high chair is not such a simple task that you can complete it without any preparation. Do not start work until you have a clear understanding of what the end result should look like and what operations will need to be performed to achieve it.

Also, don't ignore calculations. Any chair must be strong enough to support its “passenger”, and a child, although not heavy, will not sit neatly on it, especially since the dimensions of such furniture are also small.

Strength requirements are relevant not only for basic materials, but also for fasteners, be they self-tapping screws, glue or grooves. In addition, the baby is constantly growing, and it makes sense to make a high chair with a reserve for at least a couple of years in advance. For all its strength, the product should be comfortable, that is, approximately correspond to the dimensions of the owner.

Also try to ensure the proper lightness of the furniture being manufactured - it should be convenient for the owner to independently move his chair to where he wants to sit at the moment.

Don't forget to stay safe. Furniture, in any case, cannot be traumatic, and children's furniture - even more so. The presence of any sharp edges is not allowed, and if the main material is wood, as happens in most cases, then it must be carefully sanded to prevent splinters from peeling off. Covering ready product varnish or paint, give preference to natural ones - children tend to put everything in their mouths and can be poisoned by the toxic coating.

Finally, remember that this chair is for a child. In addition to suitable sizes, it is desirable for a piece of furniture to also be beautiful. If complex decor is not a task for you, at least try to paint it in bright colors.

Drawings, dimensions, diagrams

Before proceeding directly to the manufacture of parts, it is necessary to draw up a drawing with dimensions - this is the only way that all components will ideally fit one another. You can use one of those ready-made options, which are already posted on the World Wide Web, or draw up a diagram yourself. It is important to note here that there are drawings and instructions on the Internet that explain how to make a standard table and chair, so they are usually not suitable for those who want to create something original - for example, an elephant chair.

  • Drawing the table and chairs, which can be made in the form of a kit, do not have to strictly follow the principles of drawing: they do not have so many details that they cannot be kept in mind. The main thing for us is to make sure that all the dimensions match, and the parts fit perfectly together, but the methods for connecting individual parts must be present in the drawing. In general, it can be presented schematically, without high precision of the drawing.
  • Think over the dimensions (or choose ready-made drawings based on them), starting from the comfort of the child. Chairs whose seat is at knee level or slightly below are considered comfortable. In the case of a highchair, it is recommended to make the seat a little higher, because the child will probably still grow. At the same time, do not overdo it: if it is difficult for the baby to climb onto the seat, then the product can be considered a failure.

  • Determining the size of the seat itself, keep in mind that the owner should fit comfortably on it, but do not make it too large - this will make the chair heavier and difficult to carry. The normal height of the backrest is approximately two-thirds or three-quarters of the owner's back; making it higher than the neck is no longer practical. When determining the thickness of future parts, rely only on the strength of the selected material and the weight of the child.

Materials

In terms of ease of processing and environmental friendliness, among materials for the manufacture of children's furniture, wood and its derivatives undoubtedly hold the palm. Therefore, you can most often find a wooden high chair. However, you cannot choose just any tree - this is also worth thinking about before starting to make it. The most popular among all types of wood is beech. It has the strength of oak, but it is easier to process and costs less. Actually exactly hardwoods are considered priority. Among inexpensive options, birch is often chosen; linden can also be considered.

Made of wood coniferous species Spruce and pine are suitable for making furniture, but the resin contained in any such wood is dangerous - it can stain clothes, and it can also pose a health hazard. Regardless of the specific species, choose a uniform tree, without knots or cracks, with an even texture.

The seat material may be similar to the body material, or it may be fundamentally different. In order to save money and achieve greater flexibility, the seat is also made of plywood, and even chipboard. When choosing them, give preference only to the most durable types, but remember that they are in any case inferior in durability to solid natural wood.

For increased softness, the seat can be additionally equipped with a small foam cushion covered with a fabric that is pleasant to the touch.

There is also a seating option made from plastic bottles - both whole and cut. Harmful plastic, present as garbage in any apartment and polluting environment, could get a second life, especially since its strength and durability are very high. This option is still much less common due to the difficulty of securely fastening individual parts, as well as the not very attractive appearance of the finished product.

Colors and decor

For all its practicality and convenience, the baby will definitely not like the chair if it cannot be described with the word “beautiful”. Nobody makes any special chairs for teenagers, but for children younger age Brightness and attractiveness are very important. Therefore, do not limit yourself to just clear varnish or discreet monochromatic solutions. A monochromatic color is generally acceptable only if a light or very bright shade– often these are red or yellow, the so-called “warm” tones.

If drawing is not alien to you, please your child with interesting design solutions. You can go the “adult” route by painting the frame one color, and the seat and back in another, or you can focus on the child’s desire for something bright and defiant. The simplest option is “rings” on the legs of the chair; any patterns and even just blots are also acceptable, provided that it looks cute and positive. Regardless of how much and what kind of paint you used, do not forget - it should not be toxic.

If you have a creative streak and a desire to complicate the task a little for the overall benefit of the matter, you can create more complex decor. Another option is to decorate the legs or back of the chair with carvings, but adults would like this solution more. But for a child, a chic solution would be decoration in the form of one or another animal. Classic version– when the back is cut out to resemble an elephant, or any other animal that a child likes, and then painted to look more like a “cartoon” character.

Covers can also become a unique type of decoration. In addition to their typical functions, such as simplifying the cleaning of furniture and increasing the comfort of its use, they can also decorate the back of the chair. Ideally, they should depict the child’s favorite hero, characters from popular fairy tales, or the same animals. Mom can help dad make a cover, especially if she knows how to embroider or has fabric appliqué skills. If your mother does not have such talents, you can simply alter the cover from clothes on which the necessary pictures were applied at the factory.

For the youngest children

Children of the youngest age still sit on a high chair for only one activity - eating food. Teaching a child to eat while sitting, and to sit in general, particularly at the table, is important and necessary. However, the features of its development in at this stage do not allow the use of ordinary chairs for this. The problem lies in the fact that a simple chair does not have a back with arms, and a tiny child himself will not yet be able to sit on it straightly and will simply fall.

As for children's high chairs, their sizes usually do not allow you to choose a normal table for them. In this situation, a special high chair would be an excellent solution.

Such furniture should be comfortable for both the child and his mother - for now the child cannot eat on his own, so the mother will have to feed him with a spoon. For the convenience of this operation, the chair is made at a normal height, or even a little higher - so that the mother does not bend over. The actual lifespan of such a chair is about a year, so if you have one child and the family is not planning a second one at all, you can choose not the most durable materials for manufacturing.

In terms of manufacturing, a high chair is perhaps the most complex - it greatest number details. The relatively small seat is raised high above the floor, which forces the installation of additional stiffening ribs between the legs for improved stability of the structure.

Taking into account the specifics of a child of the appropriate age, both the backrest and railings are simply necessary - they must completely exclude the possibility of the baby falling. Moreover, the barrier must be in front, although it also has another useful feature– it plays the role of a countertop on which food will be placed. The space under the tabletop is left free - the baby will stick his feet there.

Cutting and assembling such a chair is quite simple. First, two identical side halves are cut out according to the drawing, which are then connected to each other by the seat, back and stiffeners using grooves, glue or self-tapping screws. Before assembly, all individual parts should be sanded to a perfectly smooth state, the finished product is varnished or painted - ready.

Models for older children

The peculiarity of high chairs for children who have finally left infancy lies in the significant variety of design options, limited only by the imagination of the creator. The backrest is still considered a mandatory attribute, but the railings are no longer there, as are the front barriers. There is no point in saving on materials in this situation - if the furniture is made with a margin of size, then the child will be able to use his high chair for many years.

The manufacturing process consists of a few simple steps:

  • Think through the design down to the smallest detail and draw up a drawing. Decide on the number of parts of the body - will it simply consist of two solid halves or of separate legs and separate supports for the seat, will the backrest base be a continuation of the rear legs or will it be attached separately, and so on. Calculate everything, including the thickness of the seat and legs, provide stiffening ribs and additional supports for the seat in advance. Provide grooves and mark places for screws.
  • If doubts about the correctness of the selected parameters still remain, try to assemble a temporary chair from cardboard according to the drawing. Unfortunately, it does not have the same strength to test the product from all sides, and it differs in thickness from wood or plywood, which also needs to be taken into account when specifying the dimensions, but you will get a visual idea of ​​the future product.

  • Start cutting out individual parts from wood or plywood. It is recommended to start with the body. It’s good if there are a lot of identical parts in the set - then the subsequent ones can be cut out by simply tracing the finished first one. If the design allows, do not delay assembly until you have cut everything out - start as soon as you have at least two parts that need to be connected. This will help you immediately notice any design flaws, if any. Once the pieces are ready, sand them smooth.
  • When all the elements are ready, proceed to the final assembly. Do not limit yourself to one type of fastener; in particular, glue the grooves - this will significantly strengthen the product and increase its durability. Ensure that the grooves fit as deep as possible - tap the joints with a hammer to make the fastening more secure.
  • The last step is varnishing and painting.

No matter how detailed and intelligible the theoretical explanation is, it is unlikely to compare in terms of information content with a clear example, because it’s better to see once than to hear a hundred times.

I think it would be superfluous to once again talk about the relevance of the problem of preserving correct posture in children. One of the most important conditions is to ensure correct sitting posture, which depends on many parameters. Regular chairs will not work. Unfortunately, office chairs with gas lift are also not able to solve this problem, since they do not have an adjustable footrest or seat reach adjustment, and adjusting the seat height and back angle alone is not enough. In such a situation, a special adjustable chair will be a great solution!

You can find many on the Internet various options for every taste. From all the variety I chose the design I liked.


The design is not as simple as it might seem at first glance. She is very technologically advanced. It is important to take into account the ratio of the sizes of the elements, their relative position, the strength and stability of the entire structure. Of course, we couldn’t find any drawings on the manufacturer’s website or on the Internet. Therefore, I had to develop the drawings myself. All the more interesting. The design took several days.

Unfortunately, I do not have a plotter at my disposal to display images. the right size, and the program in which I worked does not know how to print large images in parts (or I simply could not figure out how to do this). Therefore, we had to solve the problem in a roundabout way. Part drawings were saved as regular high-resolution photographs. Further using free program PosteRazor are converted into PDF documents containing drawings at the required scale and divided into separate A4 sheets.

Do I have the right to publish them? Am I violating someone's copyright? After all, I saw the chair on the Internet and someone was designing it! Let's figure it out.

This situation can be looked at from two points of view: ethical and legal. We will omit the ethical side of the issue, because a whole range of well-reasoned opinions is possible here and most likely it will not be possible to arrive at the truth. But from a legal point of view, the search for truth is not so hopeless.

So, legally, a chair cannot be an object of copyright. In this case, according to the Civil Code, it can be either utility model, or an industrial design, which are recognized and protected only subject to state registration, on the basis of which the federal executive body for intellectual property issues a patent. There is no mention of any patents on the manufacturer’s website; most likely, no one patented this chair. To be honest, I don’t see what can be patented there - in comparison with analogues, there is no particular novelty or originality. Although the design is quite successful. And I didn’t find it on www.freepatent.ru. This means that I will not violate anyone’s patent rights for lack of any.

But drawings, according to the Administrative Code, are objects of copyright and are protected without any registration by default, as a type of work of fine art (computer programs, by the way, as literary works). The drawings I developed are not an exact copy of the original, which is not available to me, but are the result of intellectual work and reflect my vision of the design, the general features of which I saw in photographs. We print them like a regular multi-page document on A4 sheets. At the same time, in the Acrobat Reader Print Wizard, it is important not to forget to specify the “Actual Size” scale. As a result, after gluing together the individual sheets, we get a drawing of the part on a scale of 1:1.

We cut out the drawing of the racks along the contour and paste it onto a sheet of plywood.

Plywood with a thickness of 22 mm was chosen as the material for the racks. We cut out the first part, departing 5 mm from the contour. In general, the quality and accuracy of the cut are not very important. If only there was some reserve left.

Now the resulting rough edges of the workpiece must be aligned exactly according to the drawing. I usually use the term “combing” to refer to this action. To do this, we press a flat strip against the workpiece along the line of the drawing and go along the edge with a copy cutter with an upper bearing. I processed the fillets by guiding the router with my hands, followed by adjusting the fillets. grinder. You can spend more time on this preparation, because... it will serve as a template and the quality of the remaining racks depends on the quality of its processing.

Now, having a template, we mark and cut out the remaining blanks for the racks

Next, use self-tapping screws to secure the template to the workpieces. To tighten the screws, we make holes in the template in the places where there will be holes for attaching the seat and footrest. In this case, the head of the twisted self-tapping screw should not protrude from the template.

And with the help copy cutter Align the edges of the workpiece according to the template.

Using a router inserted into the table, we make a groove in which the elements that secure the seat and footrest will move. For simplicity, I decided to call them runners. The groove depth is 10 mm, the groove width is 24 mm (it might be more convenient to make the groove width equal to the width of the existing plywood - 22 mm, but there was no such cutter in the workshop).

In the middle of the groove we make holes at equal distances. WITH reverse side When working with the workpiece, you must place a block at the point where the drill exits so that the drill does not break out the bottom layer of veneer. It will be extremely difficult to close or disguise such a chip.

We do the same with the runners. We print the drawing in real size, cut it out and paste it onto a sheet of plywood. Next, we cut it out with a margin and “comb it” as we did with the stand template.

From the same sheet of 22 mm plywood, using a jigsaw, we roughly cut out future runners with a margin.

We use the same self-tapping screws to fix the template on the workpiece.

And on milling table Using a copy cutter, we align the edges of the workpieces according to the template.

Using an edge moulder, we round the edges on all the resulting parts. Rounding radius 4.8 mm.

Next, a rail is cut out, with the help of which the runners engage with the groove on the racks. Rail height 20 mm, width 24 mm. Because I didn’t have either 20 mm or 24 mm plywood, so it was decided to make the slats from solid ash. This wood has excellent strength characteristics.

A corresponding groove was made in the runners on the milling table and slats were glued into it. At the same time, when you make a gutter, you must not forget that there are right and left runners.

After the glue has dried, the slats are sawn and ground flush with the runner body. There are also holes made in the runners for fixing them on the racks.

The runners also have gutters milled parallel to the floor. Gutter depth 10 mm, width 16 mm. These gutters will hold the seats and footrests. In the next photo you can see the finished runners.

We do the same with the seat and footrest templates: print the drawing, glue it onto plywood and cut out the blank.

In order to make even roundings, I used a thin strip of 5 mm plywood, passed between the screws that set the desired radius. It bends well and creates smooth transitions. How this is done can be seen in the photo:

As a result, we get two templates - footrests (left) and seats (right). Next, we work with them according to the already worked out scheme - we mark the blanks (we trace the templates with a pencil) and cut them out using a jigsaw with an indentation of 5 mm. 16 mm plywood was used for them, although 22 mm is also possible. We fix the template on the workpiece using self-tapping screws and work out the edges with a copy cutter. Having ready-made templates, the whole operation takes a few minutes. The small holes left on the finished parts from the screws can either be simply ignored due to their small size, or hidden using putty at the grinding stage. Personally, I took the first path. Don't forget to round the edges using an edge bevel cutter.

The template for the back was made “on the spot”. That's why there is no drawing of the backrest. I made the top and bottom edges according to the seat template. Back height 100 mm, Width 464 mm (depth of groove for backrest in racks 10 mm). After the template is ready, we make a couple of backs using it using a jigsaw and a copy cutter in a few minutes.

There are three bars in total in the chair. They are made from the same 22mm sheet. The dimensions of the crossbars fixing the runners are 399x50x22 mm. The lower crossbar (in the lower part near the floor) - 444x30x22 mm. Using a 10 mm straight cutter, we make grooves for countersunk furniture nuts - barrels.

Next, we make a groove for the backrest. The angle of the backrest was chosen in accordance with GOST 19301.2-94. "Children's preschool furniture..." The angle of the backrest is at least 5 degrees or more. My chair has an angle of 11 degrees - it seems to me a very comfortable angle.

We get a small pile of parts

Each chair is assembled using hex bolts and countersunk furniture barrel nuts. The bolts have dimensions 6x70 and 6x50, nuts - 10x20 and 10x12. The mounting kit is shown in the photo.

Ready. As they say, “it seems true.” During assembly, the quality of workmanship and fit of parts is checked, minor defects are eliminated, and “finishing with a file” is carried out. At this point, the sawing, drilling and milling stage is completed.

The sanding and painting stage begins. Now the chairs are completely disassembled and all parts are sanded before coating. I used 180 paper. In some places I had to fiddle with 80 and even 40.

Painting work is a separate discipline. Bad finishing coat can ruin the whole job. Winter outside and lack of heating in the workshop made adjustments to the usual process. I had to paint the chair right at home. Therefore, neither a spray gun nor multi-component smelly varnishes can be used - only a non-smelling water-based varnish and a brush.

Because The chair was made from leftover plywood, some parts were dirty. Unfortunately, it was not possible to completely get rid of them by sanding, so I decided to cover one chair dark color- "mahogany", the second - glossy opaque enamel milky color. Only the first one is ready so far. The second, dairy, is waiting for its time.

If, after applying the first layer of varnish, the color applied unevenly, the parts are covered with bald spots due to different degrees of absorption, the pile has risen and the surface has become like sandpaper, and in general it all looks terrible and you want to throw it all away, then you are on the right track. After the first layer has dried (after three or four hours), we take 180-grit sandpaper and sand all the raised pile. Next we put on a second layer, after drying the surface became a little better - there was no lint and the color went on more evenly, but it was still far from the picture on the label of the varnish can. Therefore, we matte the parts with the same sandpaper and apply a third layer. There's a fourth behind him. And so on. We continue until the result satisfies you. For this I needed five layers, which took two days.

The growing chair is ready. The cost of two chairs is a sheet of plywood 1500x1500 mm, 22 mm thick, fasteners for 50 rubles. and a can of varnish. This also includes electricity, depreciation of fixed assets, and worker’s wages.

I saw similar designs on Amazon for 250 US dollars - not a price, but some kind of tin. With us they are, of course, much cheaper.

This is not just a children's chair, it is more like office furniture for a schoolchild. Because it is schoolchildren who spend many hours first doing lessons, and then computer games and the correct comfortable posture for posture, less fatigue and preservation of vision is important for them. At the same time, schoolchildren are also actively growing.

For greater comfort, you can make removable soft pads for the seat and back. As an option. But I don’t see any particular need - usually school furniture without pillows. Armrests are also not particularly necessary, because when writing or working on the keyboard, the elbows should rest freely on the table so as not to cause tension in the shoulders. Step one: drawing dimensions on plywood


To make our chair we will use 9mm thick multi-layer plywood, and for one chair we only need to take a piece of plywood measuring 640mm x 570mm. I used 9mm plywood, but if you have 8mm or 10mm plywood, that will work too, you just need to change some of the dimensions in the drawings (you need to change the width of all the eyelets on the back, seat and legs to the width of the plywood you are using ). First, transfer all the dimensions of the drawing onto a sheet of plywood.







Of course, this is not the easiest way to transfer drawings and here you will have to work a little. Of course I have provided more easy way transferring the drawing onto plywood, and everyone who has a printer at home will be able to do everything much faster, easier, and with better quality. In order to print drawings on a printer, you will have to install the Compass 3D program on your computer. We enter the name of the KOMPAS-3D V14 x32 Portable mini program into a search engine and download it from any resource convenient for you. Step two: cut out the parts from plywood


After applying the dimensions to the plywood using one of the above methods, you can begin cutting out our parts. Most accessible tool which we will use is, of course, a jigsaw. You can use a manual jigsaw, the kind that children use at school during labor lessons, or a more advanced jigsaw. After cutting, we should have the following details.


There is also an easier way to obtain our parts, and this method can be used by those who have a CNC machine or access to it. Download the same file above, open it in the Compass 3D program, and save it in the required format for software CNC machine. Now our parts will be cut out in a matter of minutes.

Step three: preparing parts for assembly


Before you begin assembling the chair, all parts must be thoroughly sanded. We take sandpaper No. 100 and go over all surfaces of the parts from all sides, also knocking down sharp edges. It is necessary to check all the connections of the parts, whether everything connects well, and if necessary, immediately adjust the joints to each other. After this, we take sandpaper No. 240 and again go over all surfaces of the parts from all sides.

Step Four: Assembling the Chair


After preparing all the parts and checking the tightness of the joints, you can begin assembling the chair. We take two drawers and smear the joints with glue and then connect them to the legs of the chair.






Next, we apply glue to the legs at the joints and glue the seat, and attach the back in the same way.







We wipe off any glue that has come out with a damp cloth, and leave the chair in a warm place for a day.

Step Five: Painting the Chair


The final stage in making a chair will be painting it. You need to walk before painting sandpaper No. 240 in the gluing areas, and so on throughout the entire chair. Now there are many paint and varnish products on the market for painting any surface, and which paint or varnish to use is, of course, up to you.

I didn’t paint my chair because I made it as a prototype, trying to fit it and calculate all the dimensions. The chair is designed for children under 6 years old, but I designed it in such a way that even an adult with my height (1.80 m) can sit on it very comfortably. Before you start work, you need to prepare drawings of a plywood chair with your own hands. True, first it is advisable to decide on such design aspects as:

  • purpose of the chair– it can be a kitchen chair, a children’s chair, or, for example, a folding chair;
  • design style – selected depending on the interior style of the room in which the furniture will be used;
  • complexity of production– selected based on your skill level. As mentioned above, it is better for beginners to first do simple designs DIY plywood chairs to gain experience;
  • product dimensions - in most cases you can use standard sizes, however, if the product is made for a specific person, for example, a child, the dimensions depend on his age.

If desired, you can adjust the finished drawings at your discretion and change their sizes so that the product best meets your requirements.

As an example, let's look at how to make a folding chair according to the proposed project, which will be useful to every summer resident or fisherman. This design quite simple, the only thing is that before you start making it, you should make drawings of a folding chair from plywood with your own hands on a one-to-one scale on graph paper.

The material for the product will need a sheet of moisture-resistant plywood 2 cm thick. Its length and width must be at least 600x900 mm.

Manufacturing procedure

So, the instructions for making a folding plywood chair are as follows:

  • first of all, you need to fix the prepared drawings of a folding plywood chair with your own hands on a sheet of cardboard and cut out the part templates with scissors;
  • then the templates need to be attached to a sheet of plywood and outlined with a pencil;
  • Next, you need to use a jigsaw to cut out the parts along the marked lines. To cut out parts of the structure inside plywood sheet, you should first drill a hole;
  • The sawn parts need to be sanded. If necessary, the cut lines should be trimmed;
  • then, according to the drawing, you need to make holes for the hinges. As the latter, you can use bolts with sleeves. To firmly fix the sleeves in the blind holes of the parts, they can be glued with epoxy glue.

  • after this, in part No. 3 you need to cut holes for the fangs using a Forster drill;
  • now all structural elements need to be laid on flat surface and collect.

Now that the folding chair is ready, it needs to be varnished. To give the ends an attractive look, veneer can be glued to them.

Material

Before you start assembling the chair with your own hands, you should decide on the material. Of course, a tree is the best choice, it is completely safe and environmentally friendly. Which wood to choose? Let's start with beech. Beech is considered a dense and durable tree, and it is easier to work with than, for example, oak. If you are looking for something more budget-friendly, birch and pine - a good option. But before starting work, the wood should be deresined, since the resin, even if it is natural, is unsafe. You can also choose plywood to make a chair - good material, made from layers of tree veneer. Plywood is not heavy and is easy to process. Chipboard is the most affordable, but at the same time, the most short-lived. It is suitable for making a table top for a high chair.

Preparation

You can find materials and drawings for children's furniture in any hardware store. Dry the wood by leaving it in a room with room temperature for a day. The wood will become suitable for work.

The back and seat should be rectangular. The sides of the children's chair can be made and decorated as you like. Try not to make a highchair with sharp corners– they are dangerous for the child.

Material processing

Naturally, the material cannot be used in its original form for either a regular chair or a high chair. It needs to be processed. You can do this yourself or turn to professionals. The wood should be treated with hand router or regular sandpaper. With a router, processing must be done in cross sections. Apply varnish. Buy a varnish with a turpentine base - it does not contain toxic substances. After letting the varnish dry, sand the surface several times. For a smooth finish, coat with varnish again.

To fasten a regular chair, you can use dowels. They are good because they can also be made from wood with your own hands. Holes with a diameter of 6-8 mm should be made under them. Place the pieces tightly onto the dowels by tapping them with a hammer. Secure with a clamp and leave for 24 hours. If you need to secure the elements of a high chair, it will be more convenient to use confirmats. Such ties are suitable for folding a large number of parts.

You can make drawings and diagrams yourself or find them on a construction site. It’s better to do the drawing yourself, measuring the child’s parameters. Carefully calculate the dimensions, height and width ratio. Of course, it is more difficult to draw a diagram for a high chair yourself, so it is better to turn to ready-made drawings.

If you have made a drawing, but are not entirely sure whether it is correct, test it by folding a cardboard model of the high chair.

Typically, children from 1 to 6 are provided with either regular wooden chairs for games or activities, or a high chair. You can make a separate one with your own hands small table and a chair using the drawing.

Regular wooden chair

For a regular DIY high chair, you will need the following parts:

  • 2 short legs, 2 long (53 cm high). Dimensions of 4 legs - 3.8 * 3.3 cm;
  • seat (approx. 30*30 cm);
  • back (6 mm thick, 22.5 cm high);
  • bars under the seat;
  • drawing of an ordinary chair.

A corner should be made from the wide parts of the tall legs. Use a sander to smooth the sides of the short legs and bars. Take drilling machine and install a drill with a diameter of 6 mm. Measure the depth of 1.5 cm on the drill and mark it using the drawing. Drill along the long legs at an angle, making 12 holes. Using a chisel, we select everything from the drilled parts and make grooves. We insert the back into the grooves.

If part of the back rests, cut out a triangle and hammer the back into the groove. Make spikes on the sides of the block and round the corners. We make grooves for the tenons in the legs. We assemble the frame. If the back is too wide and does not fit into the grooves, measure and cut off the excess. Don't forget to make triangles on the sides of the back so that it sits firmly in the grooves. Take your time to insert into the back legs. Make a handle for the chair in the back. Mark the distance and cut a hole for the handle.

We insert the back into the frame. Now we make marks on the seat and cut it out. Sand the seat and insert it into the frame.

Lubricate the holes, elements and spikes for fastening with glue, secure with clamps, and leave to dry.

Wooden baby high chair

You will have to spend more time and money on a wooden high chair for feeding your baby. In order to make such a piece of furniture with your own hands, you will need:

  • bars with a cross section of 400*200 mm
  • board (thickness 20 mm)
  • fibreboard measuring 2000*2100 mm.
  • drawing of a high chair

For the chair you will need: 4 legs, 2 upper crossbars and 2 lower ones, 3 crossbars, a table top.
For the table: legs, slats, crossbars 4 pieces each, table top

We cut out the parts for the chair from the bars and sand them with sandpaper. We cut out the elements for the chair arms from the board. We connect using dowels and glue. Holes with a depth of 30 mm will be needed for the dowels.

For the side, you will need crossbars, 2 curves, 2 legs. Lubricate the dowels and holes with glue. First, assemble the bottom crossbar and legs (the angle should be 90 degrees). Then we collect top bar and two roundings. We tighten everything with a clamp. Leave for one day. The second side is folded in the same way. Make sure they are the same.

Now another one important stage– assembly of seat and backrest. Be careful here, as children are very restless during feeding, so all parts must be firmly fixed. You need 6 parts from a plate measuring 300*250 mm. Round the corners so that the radius is 50 mm. Next you need to start sanding the ends. Lubricate the parts with glue and press. You can connect the back and seat with screws. We glue the crossbars to the sidewalls. Then you need to connect the legs with all the planks, attach the sides with crossbars and fix the tabletop at one end. We get a ready-made baby high chair.
