What can you make drainage from with your own hands? How to make drainage (drainage) from plastic bottles. DIY drainage from plastic bottles

The basic principles when inventing a drainage system that will be individual in terms of design, it is necessary that the design be able to forgive required quantities water that can get into this system and the correct selection of the configuration as a whole on the land plot.
A variety of items will be useful for organizing drainage and water drainage lines. IN in capable hands they will be given the next life, and in Everyday life perceived as trash. Such items can be plastic bottles, bricks, stones, pieces of old mortar and worn-out tires.
Is it possible to make drainage from plastic bottles? There are a lot of plastic containers that lie abandoned or create a littered impression of the summer cottage and its surroundings.
Preparation for work will consist of the following:

  • It is necessary to study the soil topography; this is a fundamental factor in organizing the drainage system.
  • Based on the studied topography, it is necessary to construct a water flow pattern so that it is similar to the principle of a river (bed with tributaries).
  • Having outlined a plan on paper and the terrain, it becomes possible to begin working on the ground. It is necessary to maintain the depth of the ditch - approximately two lengths of the bayonet of a shovel.

Don't forget that fertile, upper layer It is recommended to save by removing and storing temporarily in another place.

Plastic drainage, work is performed in the following sequence:

  • After wrapping the corks, we place the bottles more tightly on the bottom.
  • Bottles are poured so that the ditch is filled to half the depth.
  • A layer of turf is laid on top of the soil layer.
  • Perform compaction.
  • Next, you need to pour a layer of soil and cover it with a layer of turf.

This design It is durable and comfortable. The advantages are that polyethylene is not subject to rotting, which makes the system almost eternal, and also due to the ability to make a flower bed or path on top, allowing you to save precious area of the site.

Stone and fascine drainage

Polyethylene containers are not the only material from which drainage can be made. To produce fascines, you can use brushwood, which is excellent for this purpose. There are a sufficient number of materials in use that can replace crushed stone during installation. Replacement options, tested more than once:

  • Fascines. Relatively long stems and brushwood, which are tied into bundles, the diameter is approximately 30 cm. It is better to knit every 50 cm, with a nylon cord or wire. Longer stems are placed in the center, and shorter ones are placed at the edges. After laying, moss is laid on top. The entrance to the trench is made with a socket made of boards.
  • Stone drainage is made in a similar way. The fascines are replaced with crushed stone, which must first be sorted (large ones on the bottom, small ones on the walls of the ditch). The crushed stone is laid on top with moss, then everything is covered with a layer of inverted turf.

Drainage without crushed stone

Making drainage without crushed stone is possible:

  • Using a pottery pipe with a diameter of 5 cm or more. When using pottery pipes, the joints must be lined with moss or fibrous material, which will act as a filter. The pottery drainage is covered with inverted turf and covered with soil.
  • Perch system. Uses wooden gutters to replace pottery pipe. The rest of the process is similar.

It is imperative to remember that the installation must be carried out to the beginning of the drainage system from the mouth, that is, in the opposite direction to the flow of water.

  • Casting made on the basis of poles. Called wooden system, trees are needed for execution coniferous species diameter, which is 7 - 10 cm. They must be cleaned of bark and sanded, after which they are placed in a ditch.

Therefore, we looked at three methods for constructing drainage without crushed stone.

Dehumidification using modern textile materials

Production of soft drainage from technological fabric materials. At the core modern design tecton is based on membrane properties, the essence is that moisture passes in only one direction, in reverse side moisture does not pass through.

Geotextiles will be required for implementation. It forms a filtration layer that will prevent debris, soil and silt from entering the tide system. Such a drainage system is carried out as follows:

  • A ditch is dug, the slope of which coincides with the direction of water drainage.
  • It is necessary to lay the tecton on the bottom so that a U-shaped appearance is formed when viewed from across.
  • Next is a layer of geotextile with a gap of 40 cm on both edges.
  • The matter is filled with small stones or rubble.
  • The edges of the geotextile are rolled up.
  • The entire soft drainage structure is covered with sand.

How to make drainage (drainage) from plastic bottles. DIY drainage from plastic bottles

Inexpensive and durable DIY plastic bottle drainage | "Tips for Hosts"

Groundwater close to the surface cannot always be detected before purchasing a site for building a house. Often people deliberately purchase cheaper swampy land in the hope of draining and improving it. To prevent moisture stagnation in the area, it is necessary to arrange drainage. With its help, you can drain the territory of the estate intended for the construction of a new house, or drain water from an existing building in a very damp and flooded area in order to extend its service life. Also, using a drainage system, you can improve the conditions for growing vegetables and garden crops.

Technology for arranging drainage from plastic bottles

First of all, it is necessary to accurately determine the area to be drained and the area that does not have enough natural watering, or the place where the water from the drainage will go. Depending on this, a detailed plan for laying drainage channels should be drawn up. We will look at the simplest option for drainage, or better yet, drainage from plastic bottles.

You should avoid the foundation area and dig channels only around the future construction site. Next, you will need to prepare materials - medium-fraction crushed stone, plastic bottles (necessarily with lids) and plastic film.

To construct a drainage system, you will need to perform the following steps:

  1. Marking on the ground using pegs and “laces” (nylon thread).
  2. Dig a trench, starting from the drained area towards water drainage with a gradual increase in depth, a slope of about 3% per linear meter, that is, 3 cm lower for every meter.
  3. The bottom of the channel needs to be covered plastic film so as to cover 10-15 cm of the sides.
  4. It is necessary to lay crushed stone of a fraction of 20-40 mm on the film, in a layer of 5-10 cm.
  5. On top of the crushed stone we place one or two liter plastic bottles, tightly closed with lids (!) to maintain their shape.
  6. The resulting structure needs to be covered with soil, which may not be particularly fertile.
  7. The structure should be compacted tightly, adding soil as necessary.
  8. On top of a drainage system made from plastic bottles, you can place a layer of fertile soil for planting a garden or vegetable garden. For arranging paths, platforms, non-permanent light structures, sand should be used as the top layer.

Advantages and disadvantages of a budget drainage system

The presented method of arranging drainage is quite effective and easy to manufacture. A minimal set of materials and tools is sufficient; complex construction equipment is not required; if necessary, drainage can always be replaced or removed without loss. Plastic bottles are practically not subject to rotting and their service life is tens of years. Among the negative qualities, the need to use intensive physical labor should be noted.

What do we get as a result and how does such a system work?

Bottles create air cushion, along which the water will roll into a groove with crushed stone and further along the slope to the place we need. They also serve as protection for this groove from the influence of the top layer of soil. It should be noted that the top layer of soil should be at least 15-20 cm, since if the layer is smaller, it will sag when walking on it.

Useful tips

Many summer residents are trying to create drip irrigation, so they are trying to find out more about it, because, having installed such irrigation, you can leave the entire system almost unattended.

The main advantage of drip irrigation is that it works autonomously, and you do not need to stand with a hose or walk with a bucket filled with water to water the seedlings.

However, it is worth noting that ready-made drip irrigation, which is powered by a water supply system, is very expensive.

A good and inexpensive alternative ready watering is drip irrigation from a plastic bottle. This option cannot be called completely autonomous, since you will have to add liquid to the bottles.

The benefits of drip irrigation

With all this, the creator of such irrigation will still have time for other activities.

Several important advantages of drip irrigation:

1. No need to purchase material - everyone has plastic bottles.

2. This type of watering is easy to make, even for inexperienced summer residents.

3. Drip irrigation saves time and effort.

4. This watering system is easy to use - just go to the bottle and add liquid.

5. The root system develops due to the fact that all moisture goes under the top layer of soil, thereby feeding only the roots, without spilling over unnecessary territory. It also strengthens the roots of the plants.

6. Water consumption is significantly less and swamps do not form.

7. The excess surface remains dry, which means there are no conditions for weed growth.

Simple DIY drip irrigation

As already mentioned, this type of watering not only costs almost nothing, but it is also very simple to do.

1. Prepare several plastic bottles and make holes in the bottom of each of them through which water will leak.

* The volume of the bottle depends on the area of the site. The minimum volume is 1.5 liters.

2. Bury the bottles in the ground at a distance of 1 meter from each other.

3. Now simply fill the bottles with water.

* The speed of watering directly depends on the diameter of the holes in the bottles.

* Experts advise making sure that water flows into the ground slowly.

* If desired, you can dilute compost tea in water - it is believed that the water will become more beneficial.

Do-it-yourself watering and flower bed from plastic bottles (step-by-step instructions)

In this design you can grow vegetables or herbs at home.

You will need:

Thick thread

Screwdriver

Hammer

Stationery knife.

1. Cut a plastic bottle in half.

2. Using a screwdriver, make a hole in the cover.

3. Cut a piece of thread 3 - 3.5 cm long, fold it in half and tie a knot at one end.

4. Thread the thread through the hole in the lid so that the knot is located in its inner part. This thread will carry water directly into the ground, giving the ground as much water as it needs.

5. Screw the cap back on and insert the top of the plastic bottle into the bottom, neck down.

* Monitor the amount of water and replenish the container if necessary. However, first, pour water on the ground and only then use the structure from the top of the bottle for watering.

3. Use a clamp to tighten the neck of the sprinkler structure.

* You can also create vertical irrigation. You will need a small stake inserted into the ground. Attach the hose to this post.

4. You can improve the design using conventional plastic handles. Use a 3 liter plastic bottle. Make holes in it slightly smaller than the diameter of the pen. Take the handles apart and insert the top half of each handle into the holes.

If necessary, seal the structure with FUM tape.

Make a hole in the lid and insert the hose adapter into it. It is advisable to treat this adapter with silicone glue to make it more airtight. This design will provide water to a large area of your garden and/or vegetable garden.

DIY drip irrigation from plastic bottles

This type of drip irrigation is best suited for plants with a small root system. It will not be able to feed long roots, but is great for watering shallow roots.

You will need:

Plastic bottle with cap (1.5 – 2 l)

An awl, a small nail with a hammer or a screwdriver

Stationery knife or scissors.

1. Make several holes in the cap of a plastic bottle. This can be done using an awl or a screwdriver. It is advisable to preheat the instrument.

2. Make a small hole next to the plants. It should be deep enough to insert 1/3 of a plastic bottle with a volume of 1.5-2 liters.

3. Using a utility knife or scissors, cut the bottom of the bottle.

4. Insert the bottle into the hole, neck down. Use earth to secure the bottle in place. Place some rocks around the bottle to keep soil out.

5. Fill the bottle with water.

Make several more similar designs for the remaining plants.

Do-it-yourself drip irrigation for your dacha

You will need:

Plastic bottle with cap

Stationery knife or scissors

An awl, screwdriver or small nail with a hammer

Thin fabric (cotton) or old nylon tights (to create a filter).

A fabric filter is needed to prevent soil particles or small debris from clogging the irrigation system.

The size of the bottle depends on the size of the plant for which watering is being prepared. For example, for one plant, a small bottle with one hole on one side is sufficient.

1. Make holes over the entire area of the plastic bottle. In this case, leave a little more than 2 cm to the bottom of the bottle. There is also no need to make holes in the lid. A 2 liter bottle should contain about 10 holes.

2. Make a hole next to the plant. Its size should be equal to the size of the bottle.

3. Bury the bottle, leaving its neck on the surface.

4. Attach a nylon stocking to the neck.

* The bottle can be closed with a lid, or left without a lid. The only difference is the rate of evaporation of water from the container.

Now just add water to the bottle when needed.

Do-it-yourself hanging drip irrigation from bottles

This type of watering is more suitable for short plants, including cucumbers or herbs. To make it, you need to make a frame in the shape of the letter P or G.

1. Bury the posts into the ground at both edges of the garden and attach a long stick to them, which should be parallel to the bed. The height should be such that the neck of the suspended bottle is about 50 cm from the ground.

* Bottle length - no more than 40 cm.

*The number of plastic bottles depends on the number of plants.

2. Using an awl or screwdriver, make several holes in the bottom of the bottle. Also make holes in the lid (their number depends on how much you want to water the plant).

3. Cut off the bottom of the plastic bottle, and next to the cut edges, make holes through which you need to insert a wire or strong rope and hang it upside down from the frame.

* Drops of water from the bottle should not fall directly on the plant, but between neighboring bushes.

* Now all that remains is to add water as needed.

What can you make your own drainage from?

Many summer residents think about what drainage can be made from when they find out the cost of modern building materials. The question is reasonable, because in addition to the use of numerous specialized devices for draining excess water from the site, there are other methods, often very ancient and undeservedly forgotten. True, their implementation will require a little more labor and patience than with modern construction methods, but they are practically cost-free. On the other hand, an important factor is the emergence of new, technologically advanced materials, inexpensive and practical. Let's consider in the article how to carry out drainage from a site without extra costs.

Even construction waste can be used as drainage material

The use of plastic bottles for organizing a drainage system

In order to organize gutters and highways, a variety of items can be useful, often mistakenly mistaken for garbage, but finding their second life in capable hands. These are the old ones too car tires, and plastic bottles, and brushwood, and stones, and bricks, and fragments of hardened mortar.

The main principles when thinking through your own drainage system design should be its correct configuration on the site and the ability to pass water in the quantities in which it can enter the drain.

So, the most, at first glance, unnecessary and harmful things, of which, unfortunately, there are a lot of them on almost every summer cottage and near it, say, in the landing - PET containers.

Is it possible to build drainage from plastic bottles? Easily. Preparation for work is carried out as follows:

  1. The organization of any drainage system begins with a study of the soil topography. It is very difficult to make water flow upward, and there is no point in doing so. Let her flow where she wants, she just needs help.
  2. An ideal drainage system on a plan is similar to a river: there is a main channel and tributaries. Yes and drainage ditch: there is a main one, and auxiliary “streams” should lead to it. This is exactly the pattern of water flow that needs to be invented based on the structure of the relief.
  3. Having marked the directions and routes of the ditches on the plan and then on the ground, you can begin earthworks. The depth of the main ditch is approximately two shovel “bayonets”.

Pro tip:

A competent approach is needed here. It is better to preserve the top, fertile layer by removing it at the beginning and leaving it in some place for a while.

Bottles stacked for drainage

  1. Plastic bottles with caps are tightly placed at the bottom.
  2. The bottles are covered with earth so that the ditch is buried halfway deep.
  3. A layer of turf is laid on top of the soil layer.
  4. Tamping is done with feet.
  5. Again a layer of earth and a layer of turf.

This closed plastic drainage is very convenient and durable. Bottles do not rot, and therefore this system can work almost forever, without losing meters of precious “acres”; on top you can organize anything: from flower beds to paths.

Proven methods for creating drainage

Fascine and stone drainage

This is not the end of the question of what can be used instead of drainage. Plastic bottles are not the only material that comes in handy in this situation. If they are not nearby, then there is probably brushwood, an excellent material for making fascines.

There are quite a few materials that can replace crushed stone during installation. We offer the following options for substitutes, proven over the years and used by many summer residents:

  1. Fachines are bunches of long stems. It is better to knit them on sawhorses, and they should be about 30 centimeters in diameter. Knitting is done with wire or nylon cord, every half meter. In this case, the longest brushwood should be in the middle, and the smaller one should be on the periphery. After laying the trench at the bottom and its walls, moss is distributed on top. The entrance to the fascine trench is best made in the form of a socket made of boards.

Scheme of fascine drainage

  1. Similarly, water flow is organized in the form of stone drainage. It will require crushed stone, which should be sorted: the larger ones will go to the bottom, and the smaller ones will go to the walls of the ditch, up to a meter deep. The crushed stone should be laid on top with moss, and the whole thing should be covered with a layer of inverted turf.

How can I replace crushed stone?

There is also an answer to the question of what can replace crushed stone drainage:

  1. You can use pottery pipes with a diameter of 50 mm and above. When laying them, the pipe joints are lined with moss or other fibrous material that acts as a filter and allows water to pass through. The drainage mouth is made of wooden pipe with a tube inserted into it. The top of the pottery drainage is covered with inverted turf and then covered with earth.

How and from what to make cheap drainage?

Many summer residents think about how to make drainage when they are faced with high costs modern materials. The question is correct, which means, first of all, you can buy affordable surface drainage from us, from the manufacturer Kamp. It is also possible to use materials that are simply lying underfoot. And they are waiting for drainage to be made from them. In this article we will look at modern systems kamp-eu drainage, which are not expensive and can drain up to 5 l/s and withstand loads of up to 25 tons. And also what materials a drainage system can be made from, practically for nothing. Using only your own labor.

Using plastic bottles to create a drainage system.

For arranging holes and ditches for drainage, a variety of objects themselves are useful; they are often mistaken for garbage, but can find their new life in drainage systems.

For example:

  • old tire use
  • plastic bottles
  • branches
  • stone, crushed stone
  • broken brick
  • debris from construction debris remaining after construction (or repair)

The main rules that a person should follow when thinking about a drainage system project are the correct configuration of the drainage and its throughput.

Is it possible to build drainage from used plastic bottles?

  • It is necessary to determine the lowest places on the site.
  • It is impossible to make water flow upward without using energy. Let it flow downwards, we will help it.
  • Ideal drainage has the structure of a river. Actually the main channel, and streams flow into it. It would be nice if the same thing happened in our area.
  • Marking on the ground. You can lay it out with crushed stone and pull ropes. And then you can start digging the ground. If grass is planted, use PET film to avoid weeds. Or pick up used stretch film from large supermarkets.

The sequence of work on arranging a plastic drainage system is as follows:

  • PET with closed plugs is placed at the bottom.
  • PET must be laid out on the ground in such a way that it is buried to half its depth.
  • A drainage layer is laid on top of the soil layer.
  • Compact with feet or a tamping machine.
  • Fill up a layer of soil

Plastic drainage, oddly enough, is made using this method and is durable. PET bottles take centuries to decompose, so this system will work for many years. And the land on top can be used, built or planted whatever.

Proven ways to finish the drainage system.

Let us once again raise the question of what else can be used to arrange drainage. Plastic bottles- there is more than one material that will be useful in this situation.

There is very a large number of materials that can replace crushed stone when arranging the installation. You can use, for example, a stone.

We will need crushed stone, large.

We put the big one on the bottom, and the small ones we put on the walls of the trench (depth 1 m.)

The use of modern geofabrics. When using modern fabric materials, you can independently make soft drainage. The basis of its design is based on the special membrane properties of Tekton, which is capable of passing moisture only in one direction, and does not allow it to go out into the street. It will also be necessary geotextiles, which will form a filter layer, prevent debris, silt and soil from entering the drainage system.

Such drainage is arranged as follows:

  • A drainage ditch is dug with a slope to the side into which water is drained.
  • A geofabric is laid at the bottom, which is placed in a U shape.
  • On top of the geofabric is placed in a geotextile fabric with a spade on the edges of the pit, up to 40 cm on all sides.
  • Then the fabric is covered with gravel.
  • The crushed stone is wrapped in geotextile.
  • The drainage pit is filled with sand.

Do-it-yourself washbasin for your dacha. Making a simple and convenient drain

Here we will talk about street version a country washbasin, because such a thing is simply necessary outside in the summer. It’s not every time you have to run home, for example, to wash your hands after gardening. And in general, besides gardening, there are still a lot of things to do at the dacha when your hands (and sometimes even your face) will not remain clean. The washbasin at the dacha can be left simple, that is, an ordinary washstand, which has been tested not only for years, but, probably, for centuries. But the water that will flow out of such a washbasin needs to be drained somehow. The easiest option is to put an ordinary bucket, or just pour water directly onto the ground. But the bucket fills up quickly and needs to be taken out, and pouring water on the ground is also not the best solution. No one needs dirt underfoot either. Is there another solution to this problem?

Outdoor washbasin for a summer residence. Making drainage from plastic bottles

It turns out that a solution can be found, quite simple, but very effective. Here plastic bottles will come to our aid again. We have already used them to make a mole repeller and even a mosquito trap. Now we’ll make a simple drain for an outdoor washbasin.

What do we need?

For such a drain we will need 4 two and a half liter plastic bottles (you can take more, but then you will need to dig deeper). For three bottles you will need to cut off the neck and bottom, and for one of these bottles (a little later we will have it as the upper part of the drainage system), we cut off only the neck. The two bottles that we will later have below the rest will need to be well perforated, that is, many holes made in them in a circle. These holes will help us drain water in the future. You will need to make a hole in the topmost bottle, where we will insert the hose next. In principle, everything is quite simple. From the drawing, I think everything can be understood without difficulty.

How to connect bottles?

Then we connect all these plastic blanks into one pipe. Just insert them into each other, and you can also wrap the joints with tape for strength. Next we need a drill. The diameter of this drill must be at least 15 centimeters (that is, 150 mm). Using this drill, we drill a hole in the ground in the right place at a depth slightly deeper than our “pipe” of plastic bottles. It is better to move this place a little further from the washbasin. It's completely useless next to the washbasin.

And so, the hole is ready. We put a little crushed stone at its bottom, and then insert our homemade plastic pipe. At the same time, remember that one of our bottles was made for a hose. This is exactly what you should have at the top of this entire drainage structure. There we will insert the outlet hose from the drain of the country washbasin. Then, along the edges of the bottles, they are filled with crushed stone. This will improve the drainage ability of the drain. And after that, this entire structure is covered with earth; only a hose will come out of the ground from above.

The whole system is very simple, but it drains water quite well. The water consumption for the washbasin is not that high, so this system will easily serve you for several years and the water will regularly drain and be absorbed in the upper layers of the soil.

But in general, a simple version of a country washbasin. It's very easy to do, and can last for quite a long time until you want to do something more serious. Let's watch this video.

The basic principles when inventing a drainage system that will be individual in design terms are the ability of the structure to accommodate the required amounts of water that can enter a given system and the correct selection of the configuration as a whole on the land plot.
A variety of items will be useful for organizing drainage and water drainage lines. In capable hands they will be given the next life, but in everyday life they will be perceived as garbage.

Do not forget that it is recommended to preserve the fertile top layer by removing it and storing it temporarily in another place.

This design is durable and comfortable.

Called the wooden system, it requires coniferous trees with a diameter of 7–10 cm. They must be cleared of bark and sanded, after which they are placed in a ditch.

Therefore, we looked at three methods for constructing drainage without crushed stone.

Dehumidification using modern textile materials

Production of soft drainage from technological fabric materials. The modern design of the tecton is based on membrane properties, the essence is that moisture passes only in one direction, moisture does not pass in the opposite direction.

The article discusses various methods of do-it-yourself drainage; you are left to choose the appropriate method of drainage system yourself.

High level groundwater brings a lot of trouble to owners of suburban areas, creating serious difficulties in growing most crops. In addition, water gradually destroys the foundations of buildings, and constant dampness in basements does not allow crops to be stored for a long time. A drainage system, which can be built from ordinary plastic bottles, will help you get rid of the problem. On the one hand, this option will take longer than the implementation of modern drainage structures. On the other hand, it requires virtually no financial investment, which is a strong argument for many land owners. In this article we will look at how to make drainage from plastic bottles and ensure optimal humidity soils in the garden area.

Plastic containers are convenient to use for drainage because of their availability. Most liquid products are stored in PET bottles Food Industry: sparkling water, dairy and fermented milk products, vegetable oil, beer, kvass and much more. If you do not periodically dispose of plastic waste, then dozens or even hundreds of such containers can accumulate on your household.

A little about PET containers

The raw material for the manufacture of plastic bottles is polyethylene terephthalate, a product of the synthesis of ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid. The material was developed and patented back in 1941 and since then has been widely used in various spheres of human activity.

Interesting to know. Initially, polyethylene terephthalate was used in the textile industry. A little later they began to produce packaging film from it. It was only in the 70s of the last century that DuPont first produced a PET bottle to create competition glass containers when pouring drinks.

The main advantage of PET containers is their weight. If a half-liter glass bottle weighs 350 g, then the weight of a plastic container of the same volume is only 17 g, that is, 20 times less. In addition, polyethylene terephthalate, unlike glass, is not a fragile material, which greatly simplifies the transportation of products.

PET is a lightweight and durable material for storing liquid products

Benefits of Bottle Drainage

The advantages of using plastic bottles for drainage include: following points:

  • Durability. The service life of PET containers is 50 years.
  • Availability. Even if such material is not available in sufficient quantities at home, it can be purchased for little money at the market or in grocery stores.
  • Easy to install. The implementation of the drainage system is carried out without the use of special equipment.
  • Safety. Plastic bottles placed in the ground do not have any adverse effects on the soil and the environment.

For your information. It is believed that plastic releases harmful substances. However, this process occurs only when the material is strongly heated. Since underground containers are protected from direct sun rays and open flame, you don’t have to worry about its safety.

Drainage from plastic bottles

There are two ways to make drainage from plastic bottles. The first option involves using bottles as a drainage pipe, and the second as a drainage layer.

Option No. 1: installing a drainage pipe

The PET drainage pipe is manufactured using the following technology:

  1. The bottles have several drainage holes.
  2. The top and bottom parts of each container are cut off with scissors.
  3. The prepared parts are connected using tape.
  4. The finished pipe is wrapped with geotextile fabric.

Important. Geotextiles act as a filter, protecting drainage holes from silting. In the absence of such protection, the drainage operation will very quickly lose its effectiveness.

Making a drainage pipe from plastic bottles

Since when plastic containers are cut, they lose their strength, such a pipe cannot be placed at great depths. In addition, crushed stone bedding must be provided to protect the structure from deformation.

Option No. 2: installation of a drainage layer

A simpler, but no less effective option for using plastic bottles for site drainage is to create a drainage layer. In this case, following works:

  1. A trench is dug about 0.5 m deep.
  2. PET bottles are placed tightly together on the bottom in two rows.
  3. The container is covered with a layer of sand and then soil.
  4. Each layer is well compacted.

Note. All bottles must be capped. The air remaining inside will give additional rigidity to the structure and prevent it from deforming under the weight of the soil.

The voids between the bottles allow water to flow freely from the area along the trench

Popular drainage schemes

Drainage layouts on the site may be different. Most often, two structures are used to protect the territory from waterlogging: ring and fir-tree.

Ring design

The ring scheme is used to protect building foundations from surface water. To prevent water from accumulating near the house after rainfall or melting snow, a trench is dug along the perimeter of the property in which drainage from bottles is installed.

The distance from the trench to the building depends on the size of the blind area and, as a rule, is about 1 m. The depth of the trench should not be too large. Firstly, plastic container under soil pressure it can deform; secondly, to quickly remove precipitation, the drainage should be as close to the surface as possible.

Important. To protect the building from the action of groundwater, drainage is located 30-50 cm below the foundation. For such purposes, you should use a specialized drainage pipe made of PVC or HDPE that can withstand heavy loads.

Foundation ring drainage

Christmas tree design

In its shape, the structure resembles a Christmas tree (hence the name) or a river system with a main channel and several branches. The number of outlets depends on the area of the drained area. In this case, their slope should be directed towards the main highway, which in turn has a slope towards the drainage basin - drainage well, ditch or pool.

This scheme is ideal for swampy areas, allowing you to drain a large area. Of course, in this case, a larger length of pipeline will be required, but if you make drainage from plastic bottles, the costs will be minimal.

Advice. The trenches in which the drainage system is located can be sprinkled with fertilizers. This way the water will be saturated before entering the reservoir. useful substances and will be suitable for fertilizing the garden plot.

Drainage of the area using a Christmas tree drainage structure

The method of constructing drainage from plastic bottles is very popular due to its accessibility. In many situations, this option will remove excess water from the surface of the site and make the area more suitable for plant life and construction projects. However, it is not advisable to use PET containers for the construction of a deep drainage system designed to protect the site from the action of groundwater. In this case, it is better to seek help from specialists who will develop an optimal pipeline layout and carry out installation using modern drainage structures.

Video: arranging drainage from plastic bottles

Our magazine has already devoted several articles to the topic of using such waste material, like all kinds of bottles. We are returning to this topic again, offering our readers an article by the author from the Moscow region Vidnoye V.B. Akimov, according to whose advice you can dispose of dacha construction much of the waste thrown away household. Whatever I have to build around the house or on a summer cottage of six acres, first of all I think about how, given a shortage of land, I can combine several functions with minimal costs.

Since spring melt water lingers on our site until the end of May - beginning of June, the issue of draining it in order to speed up the use of the site has always been problematic. In addition to drainage grooves along the perimeter of the site, we had to think about additional drainage in the middle of it. And then it was necessary to lay sidewalk path from concrete tiles across the entire area. So I decided to combine these two things into one - to combine the construction of a sidewalk path with a drainage ditch. Moreover, in the construction of drainage, use... unnecessary glass bottles. There was already experience in using them: previously, such dishes had to be placed to drain water under roadways. Practice then showed that water flows well through the voids between bottles laid in several rows: bottles are an excellent substitute for traditional drainage pipes.

If you have an idea, you can start bringing it to life.

First of all, I used pegs and string to mark the route where the path should go and dig a drainage ditch. The ditch was dug to a depth of 0.8-1.0 m with the obligatory bottom slope towards the lowest part of the site. At the same time, the cultural layer of the earth tried not to interfere with the clay.

The bottom of the groove was sprinkled with a layer of sand 5-8 cm thick, after which glass bottles were laid on it in several rows. There, to fill the rest of the volume, I threw in tin cans, broken glass, pieces of slate and brick, and other “goods” that were abundant on the site. I covered it all on top, sometimes with sheets of rusty iron, sometimes with pieces of roofing felt and slate, sometimes with plastic film - everything worked.

A layer of clay previously removed from the groove was poured on top of everything. Using a primitive wooden tamper, this layer was carefully compacted, pouring water from a watering can from time to time.

1 - bottom layer of sand 5-8 cm thick; 2 rows glass bottles; 3 - sheets of iron, roofing felt, film, etc.; 4 - layer of clay; 5 - layer of broken pieces from blocks; 6- sand cushion 10-15 cm thick; 7 - paving slabs; 8 - water passing through the gaps between bottles

From the construction of the house, there were a lot of crushed gas silicate blocks left, which, after additional crushing, were also poured into a trench on top of a layer of clay, although it would have been better to throw them on earlier - on the bottles.

The “trench sandwich” obtained in this way was covered on top with another layer of sand 10-15 cm thick. To avoid subsequent shrinkage of the soil under the tiles, the layer of sand was carefully poured with water (from a watering can), adding new portions from time to time until its layer was compacted.

After preparing the sand cushion, I started laying paving slabs. To ensure that they lay evenly, I laid a pipe along the future path for control. Using a wooden (or plastic) grater on which you installed building level, before laying each tile, I leveled the sand both along (taking into account the slope) and across the path.

After laying, each subsequent tile was leveled along the pipe and adjusted using a tamper to the previously laid ones, checking the laying with a level and adding sand, where necessary, under the tiles and between the tiles.

As a result of the work, it was possible to kill two birds with one stone - to lay a sidewalk path and ensure the drainage of water from the site through a drainage ditch, and with minimal material costs. In addition, the beds on the site were replenished with a layer of saved fertile soil from the ditch.
