Rules for installing plastic windows on anchor plates. Installation of plastic windows according to GOST - detailed instructions How to install plastic windows using plates

Today I will tell you how to install 8 with your own hands in one day plastic windows and the front door. To perform this work you will not need special skills or expensive equipment. But, of course, there are many nuances that are definitely worth paying attention to. And of course there are several secrets on how to save money when ordering.

I used windows with optimal thermal characteristics with a four-chamber window profile and a double-glazed unit, as well as a reinforced entrance door. By the way, it was the door that made up almost half of the cost of the order. And the total costs amounted to 40 thousand rubles for the set and another 4.5 thousand rubles for delivery. How to buy windows at the same price is at the end of the article.

Let's get started!

2. We have a newly built aerated concrete house, in which we need to install 8 windows and one entrance door. First of all, we take all dimensions from the openings. As you remember, I made overhead quarters around the perimeter of the openings on three sides (a quarter is not needed at the bottom - the window sill will be there). For quarters I used standard ones aerated concrete blocks 5 cm thick, which were installed like all masonry on polyurethane foam. The recess of windows during installation should be at least 1/3 of the wall thickness. It is also worth noting that you should not try to make openings under standard sizes windows - their production technology is automated and there is no difference in cost between standard size or a custom window. We calculate the final window dimensions taking into account the following factors. On the side and top from the frame to the wall there should be a gap of 1 to 2 centimeters on each side, which will be filled with polyurethane foam. At the bottom of all windows from the factory there is a 3-centimeter high stand profile, which is needed for convenient installation of the window sill. Plus, there should also be a gap of about 1 centimeter under the delivery profile for polyurethane foam. Total, roughly speaking from internal dimensions the opening needs to be subtracted 4 centimeters horizontally and 6 centimeters vertically. You shouldn’t get too carried away and push the frame into the opening without a gap, because... It will be extremely inconvenient to pour polyurethane foam into a gap of less than 5 mm.

3. It is important to know that opening sections greatly increase the cost of the construction of any window. Therefore, if the goal is to save money, you need to make the most of fixed, non-opening windows. In case of suburban one-story house there is no problem going outside to wash the windows, and for ventilation you can make an opening transom (due to the design features, it is several times cheaper than a tilt-and-turn mechanism, but at the same time its width should be significantly greater than its height, more precisely, its height cannot exceed 50 centimeters). The advantage of the blind section is also that you do not lose any useful glazing area. In my case, there are 5 blind windows measuring 60x60 cm, two blind panoramic windows 1.4x1.7 meters, one tilt-and-turn window 0.6x1.3 meters and an entrance door with partial glazing 0.9x2.3 meters. The above price includes the windows and door only (including hinges, handles and locks). I needed to purchase separately anchor plates, dowels, self-tapping screws, PSUL sealing tape, polyurethane foam, window sills and ebbs for a total amount of 3.5 thousand rubles.

4. We will need: a screwdriver with a concrete drill, polyurethane foam with a gun, PSUL tape, fastening plates, dowels for aerated concrete and self-tapping screws. Also, the bubble level was not included in the frame. Once again I want to draw your attention to the fact that you cannot skimp on measuring instruments.

5. There are two ways to secure window frame: through fastening with unpacking of double-glazed windows and using anchor plates. The first method requires more time and skills. In particular, you will need to carefully remove the glass unit from the frame and then install it in place. The glazing beads that hold it are usually fixed very firmly and in order not to scratch the edges you will need a special spatula and patience. Plus, if we are talking about installation with two hands, then with large windows the problem will be that the removed glass unit cannot be tilted, unlike the frame in which it is installed. In addition, through-mounting requires precise fixation when drilling and an assistant will definitely be required. Much easier installation carried out on mounting plates. Each such plate costs 10 rubles. They need to be installed at the rate of 1 plate for every 50 centimeters. The plate is installed by turning it in the groove of the frame and fixed using a self-tapping screw with a drill (to drill metal carcass inside the frame).

6. After this, PSUL tape is glued to the outside of the frame on all sides except the base - a pre-compressed sealing tape. It is used when installing a window in an opening with quarters. The purpose of the tape is to protect the polyurethane foam from ultraviolet radiation and, consequently, destruction. In the cold season, it is easier to install windows, because... the tape expands very slowly in the cold.

7. A six-meter roll of PSUL tape costs 140 rubles. When fixing the tape on the outside of the frame, it is preferable to step back 1-1.5 cm from the edge, especially if you have deep quarters. This should be done so that when pouring polyurethane foam between the frame and the wall, it does not get on the PSUL tape.

8. Now we move on to the window opening. Its geometric dimensions are ideal, and its base perfectly matches the horizon. This happens naturally when building with aerated concrete if you follow the technology and level each next row of masonry to zero. I started the installation with small blind windows and they differ from the others in that they will not have window sills. Therefore, we will not use the stand profile. To support the frame on the base of the opening I use a piece of laminate 7 mm thick.

9. Place the window and mark the location for the mounting holes. We drill and install special screw dowels for aerated concrete. It is worth paying special attention that you should not try to hammer them in with one blow, especially if they are located close to the edge of the block - there is a risk of breaking off a piece of the block. After this, we insert self-tapping screws through the mounting plates.

10. Our next task is to install the side window vertically. In the case of small windows this will not be difficult, because... there will be no skewing of the window diagonally and it is enough to take measurements at any point of the frame. After this, we tighten the screws on the fastening plates and remove the piece of laminate at the base. Any window must be fixed so firmly that it can be held in the opening solely by the mounting plates. Polyurethane foam is used primarily for filling voids and thermal insulation, and not for mechanically fixing the frame in the opening.

11. You will have to tinker with large windows. Each one weighs more than 80 kilograms and will not be easy to lift into the opening alone. I built a staircase from blocks and gradually raised the window 5 centimeters upward. I used 9 mounting plates for each window. 3 on each side, except the bottom. Here you need to pay closer attention to the verticality of the frame and apply a level in all corners. On large windows At the bottom there is a support profile in which the window sill will be installed. Directly below the support profile I also placed a laminate plate, which was removed immediately after fixing the anchor plates to the wall.

12. The tilt-and-turn window is 2 times smaller in size, but for it I decided to use 8 anchor plates, because an open sash will add load to the frame. On average, it takes about 30 minutes to install one window. And a very serious mistake that most people make - protective film must be removed from the frame immediately after installation. Even if you installed the windows at the beginning of the renovation, the film must be removed immediately. If this is not done, then it will be more difficult to tear it off, and the plastic will burn out unevenly (this is important for the outside of the frame).

13. Let's move on to front door. This is a reinforced door with 3 hinges with a full frame around the perimeter. Opening inward is much more convenient than opening outward. But most people have a stereotype that the door should be opened outwards. When installing door frame the most important thing is to ensure a uniform fit around the perimeter. I used 10 anchor plates to secure the door. Special attention It is worth paying attention to the verticality of the side walls of the door frame in two planes. For reliability, the fixation of each anchor plate can be supplemented with a second self-tapping screw. As with windows, the door should be fully functional when held in place only by anchor plates. It should not warp when opened and it should fit snugly around the perimeter when closed.

14. Now we take a gun with polyurethane foam. The presence of a pistol is mandatory because it allows you to regulate the volume of foam output. There are nuances with foam that you definitely need to know. First, the foam is afraid of ultraviolet radiation and needs to be protected from sunlight. For this purpose, there is PSUL tape on the outside of the window; on the inside, it is necessary to plaster the slopes or, as an option, paint over it. As for applying foam, it absolutely cannot be trimmed. The shell that has formed on it protects the internal open cellular structure from moisture absorption and subsequent destruction. Therefore, the seam between the frame and the wall should be filled exactly to the extent that the excess does not protrude outward. It is important not to overdo it with deepening the gun nozzle, because... do not forget that on the outside we have PSUL tape and it should not come into contact with fresh foam. Approximately 5-10 minutes after filling the seams with foam, you should visually check its condition and, if necessary, carefully compact it (before it hardens, this is easy to do). If work is carried out at temperatures below +5 degrees, it is imperative to use special winter foam.

15. Next, install the fittings and check how the windows open. If the window opens poorly or jams, this is a sign that errors were made when installing the window. Most likely, the frame is not strictly vertical in all corners. This can be corrected by adjusting the hinges and lock.

16. Done! The windows and door should be left for a day until the foam completely hardens. And we move on to the finishing stage.

17. Let's take it plastic window sills 20 centimeters deep. In total, I need 3 window sills: two 140 cm and one 70 cm. A finished window sill 150 cm long cost me only 200 rubles. We cut off the excess using a jigsaw and install it under the frame in the stand profile. It is worth keeping in mind that the depth of the window sills into the frame is 2 centimeters; this is important when choosing the depth. Before installation, do not forget to remove the protective film around the perimeter. We install the window sill either strictly horizontally or with a slight (1 degree) slope from the window.

18. We cover the edges with special plates, which should be glued with superglue. As a support when setting the level, you can use cuttings from the window sill itself or wooden block. After this, we weigh the window sill from above so that the mounting foam does not lift it up. And fill the entire plane of the base with foam from below. Just as with window frames, you should control the expansion of the foam and prevent it from having to be cut with a knife. Just tamp it down until it hardens.

19. The final chord is the installation of low tides. We cut it to length, fix it to the window frame using self-tapping screws (after having coated the joint silicone sealant), fill the base with polyurethane foam and load it.

20. Done! Don’t forget to remove the protective film from the frames, window sills and ebbs. There is nothing complicated about installing windows and you can handle this amount of work alone. By doing this work with my own hands, I saved more than 15 thousand rubles on installation.

Now comes the fun part. The Chertanovo office of the Okna Rosta company decided that there should be a discount on windows not only for me, but for all readers of my blog. Therefore, we made an exclusive promotion for ordering plastic windows. The minimum discount of 33% is relevant for everyone who is ready to independently measure and install plastic windows.

All the details are here -

Relatively recently, all residential buildings had ordinary wooden windows, which had to be sealed for the winter. Today it is almost a relic of the past. And most people strive to replace such windows with modern plastic window structures, and they are especially interested in installing plastic windows with their own hands.

This desire of the consumer is quite understandable - plastic windows not only have an aesthetic appearance, but also serve as interior decoration. They are also much easier to use, last an order of magnitude longer, and are significantly cheaper than their wooden counterparts.

If you have a desire to replace the old windows in your apartment with modern double-glazed windows, then you will certainly ask yourself whether it is possible to install a plastic window yourself. How difficult is it to install plastic windows, and can you do it yourself without the help of specialists?

Yes, it's quite possible. In order to install a plastic window with your own hands, it is not necessary to have a construction specialty. With certain skills and good tools Anyone can install a plastic window with their own hands.

Let's figure out how to do it right.

What does a plastic window consist of?

First, let's look at the design of a plastic window. Without this, you will not understand the installation process itself.

Plastic windows are made from a special material called PolyVinyl Chloride. That’s why plastic windows are called PVC windows in short. Like any window, the main element of a PVC window is a frame made of a profile consisting of cells. The more such cells in the frame (also called chambers), the warmer the window will be.

Typically the frame color is white. Although plastic can be black, brown, and even colored. The most common and most a budget option– white plastic windows.

In addition, the window consists of an opening part (sash) and a stationary part, which is called a “capercaillie”. The glass unit is directly inserted into these parts of the window, which is pressed against the frame with a special plastic strip. For tightness, a black rubber seal is placed.

Special mechanisms are installed on the window sashes, with the help of which the window opens and closes.

In addition, on the outside the window has a so-called ebb - a small board with the help of which precipitation is removed, and slopes - plates that seal the side and top parts from the street side.

Stages of installing plastic windows with your own hands

All stages of installing plastic windows with your own hands come down to the following:

  • careful measurements;
  • dismantling old window designs;
  • preparation of window openings;
  • DIY PVC window installation.

Taking measurements

Before ordering and, accordingly, installing a plastic window, you need to make several measurements. Moreover, how carefully they are done will determine how your structure will fit into the window opening. Remember that accurate measurements are almost half the battle. If you take the measurements incorrectly, when installing plastic windows yourself, the structure simply will not fit into the opening. In addition, the windows may begin to freeze.

First you need to carefully examine the opening. If the part of the window that is smaller on the outside, then measurements are taken at the narrowest point. Moreover, it is highly advisable to make several of them, because window openings are rarely perfectly smooth. Find the smallest measurement value and add 3 to it. Measure the height, leave its value as it is.

If the window is the same size both inside and outside, measurements are taken slightly differently. You need to measure the width and height. Then you need to subtract 5 cm from the height, and 3 from the width. It will be full size your window, with width and height. We subtract the values in order to leave gaps for installing the window sill and special mounting foam.

Each owner chooses the window sill according to the size he wants. Some people like wide window sills, some are narrow, while others make them at wall level. This is individual, and there are no rules here. This applies to width.

The length of both the window sill and the ebb should be taken with a margin - about 10 cm wider than the window opening.

Getting ready for installation

Do-it-yourself installation of plastic windows always begins with dismantling the old window. As a rule, even novice builders find dismantling particularly easy.

After you have broken out the old window, you need to carefully inspect the opening and remove anything that may fall off later. If some parts of the opening protrude from the walls after dismantling, they must also be removed and the surfaces smoothed. Potholes, if any. It should be sealed with cement mortar.

When installing PVC windows with your own hands, you must take into account the following circumstances:

  • the plastic window structure should be carefully secured;
  • the window structure must be leveled both horizontally and vertically, otherwise in the future it may simply warp;
  • It is necessary to plaster the mounting foam on all sides, with which the structure is attached, also in order to avoid future problems such as deformation.

Plastic window installation technology

Install a plastic window with your own hands as follows:

  • The structure should be fixed on four sides using wedges, and it should be determined how accurately the frame is positioned relative to the opening;
  • secure the frame with special bolts;
  • attach the structure with screws to the wooden part;
  • seal the plastic structure using polyurethane foam, spreading it over a surface slightly moistened with water.

We need to start with the fact that there are two different ways DIY installation of plastic windows.

The first method is to drill holes in the window frame for special anchors, which are driven into the wall. This is a rather complicated method, but a more reliable fastening.

The second method is that metal plates are first attached to the frame from the outside, and only then these plates are attached to the walls. It is much simpler and quick way, however, such fastening is not reliable. The frame can simply warp even in strong winds. Therefore, if you nevertheless decide to make your life easier and install a plastic window with your own hands using the second method, use thick and wide metal plates. In this case, you can give your plastic structure greater reliability. However, if your city is very windy, this method is definitely not suitable for you.

Direct installation

Installing a plastic window with your own hands using the first method with reliable fastening is carried out as follows.

First, you should check whether the structure and the window opening are compatible. If everything is in order, we proceed directly to installation.

First you need to remove the window sash. For this:

  • turn the window handle down, placing the window in the “closed” position, and use a screwdriver to remove the trim from the hinges;
  • pull out the pin, which is located on the top hinge;
  • open the shutter by turning the window handle to a horizontal position, after which, by lifting the window sash, you can easily remove it from the lower pin.

After you have removed the sash, you need to remove the double-glazed window on the capecaillie. For this:

  • insert a small spatula or something similar, strong enough, thin and not wide, into the gap between the frame and the bead;
  • move the glazing bead with a spatula, going along the entire length, and remove it from the frame.

After this, you can easily remove the glass unit itself. The main thing is that it does not fall out of the frame after the glazing beads you removed are no longer holding it. To avoid this, the window should be tilted.

The frame is freed from the glass unit, and now it should be covered around the perimeter with special tape. This tape is needed to keep the window warm.

As a rule, white self-adhesive protective tapes are glued to the frames. It is also advisable to remove them, because later, when they heat up in the sun and stick to the frame, fused with it, this will be difficult to do. In the meantime, the tapes are very easy to remove.

Now the frame needs to be inserted into the window opening. To do this, you will need mounting wedges that are placed in the corners (this mandatory requirement), as well as in other places where you deem it necessary.

Using a drill and a drill bit, special holes are made into which the fasteners are inserted. The first hole is drilled at a distance of 1.5 - 2 cm from the top edge. The bottom hole should be approximately the same distance from the bottom corner. The gap between two fasteners should not be more than 5-7 cm.
The anchor is hammered into the hole and then tightened. At the same time, you must tighten the anchor carefully, trying not to overtighten, otherwise the profile will bend, and this cannot be allowed. This operation - tightening the anchors - is continued as many times as necessary.

After this, ebb tides should be installed outside. Before installation, self-adhesive waterproofing should be applied to the part of the frame that is located outside. Grooves are made in the side openings (the edges of these ebbs will need to be inserted there later).

On that part of the opening where the ebb will rest on the wall, a special profile is installed, to which the ebb will then be attached. If the height difference is small, you don’t have to install the profile, but simply apply a layer of polyurethane foam. Then the ebb should be placed under the ledge of the frame and attached to it with self-tapping screws. Along the lower edge of the ebb, you also need to fill it with polyurethane foam.

Now let's take a closer look at the second method of installing plastic windows with your own hands - using plates.

This method is much simpler, although, as we have already said, it is less reliable. Installation using this method involves installing thick metal plates.

They should be installed at the same distance as the anchors in the first installation method - approximately 2 cm from the edge, and no more than 7 cm between those in the middle. The metal plates are simply screwed to the profile using self-tapping screws.

In all other respects, do-it-yourself installation of plastic windows is completely identical to the first installation method. In the same way, the window is leveled in three planes, after which all actions are identical. Simply, unlike the first method, they do not attach the frame itself, but metal plates, and attach them to the so-called dowel-nails. The peculiarity of the fastening is that they first drill a hole, then bend the metal plate, insert a dowel into the hole, put the plate in place and tighten the dowel.

The main mistakes when installing plastic windows with your own hands

If you install plastic windows incorrectly, this can lead to the fact that the house will be cold; water will flow into the room through improperly installed ebbs. And the expensive structures themselves will quickly become unusable. And if professional installers sometimes make mistakes when installing PVC windows, then, of course, an amateur who installs plastic windows with his own hands is not immune from them.

Let's look at the 10 most common mistakes made when installing plastic windows.

The window size is incorrect

This is usually a consequence of incorrect, careless measurement of the window opening, and, accordingly, the manufacture of an unsuitable window structure. And in case the window is too large in size. And if the size is very small, it is simply impossible to install such structures.

Poor preparation of the window opening

If the surfaces are poorly cleaned, there is construction debris, dust, potholes left on them, or, on the contrary, parts of the wall protrude on the surface of the opening, the polyurethane foam will not fit as tightly and evenly as is necessary for high-quality installation of plastic windows with your own hands. In addition, this kind of pollution absorbs moisture very well, and it will soon end up inside your apartment.

Ignoring wall insulation

If a plastic window is installed without taking into account the thermal insulation of the wall, then at the joints it will penetrate into the apartment. cold air. Therefore, it is imperative to take into account the layers of walls when installing plastic windows. If the wall consists of one layer, the window should be placed exactly in the middle of the wall. If the wall is double-layered, the window should be installed at the very edge, as close to the insulation as possible. And if the wall is three-layer, then it is necessary to install a PVC window directly in the plane of the wall insulation, in order to avoid heat loss.

Incorrect distance between the window frame and the slope

If the window frame is located too close to the slope, the seal in this place will be of poor quality, and moisture will begin to appear and accumulate in these places. If, on the contrary, the frame is located too far from the slope, then there is a risk of deformation, since the load on the anchors or metal plates is too great.

Incorrect size of window sill

The window sill should be slightly narrower than the window frame itself. If it is a different size, or they decide not to install it at all, then water will penetrate under the window frame due to the lack of a normal seal in this place, and as a result, the wall will constantly be wet. Metal parts can simply corrode after a certain time.

Poor quality fastening of PVC window to the wall

If you skimp on dowels or anchors and there are too few of them to attach the window structure to the wall properly, over time the position of the window will change, the frame will become deformed, and it will be difficult for you to tear off and close the window.

Not enough polyurethane foam

Polyurethane foam is practically the only material for insulating a window structure and the wall itself to which it is attached. If there is not enough foam, the heat will escape. Therefore, the gap between the slope and window frame you need to fill it properly, not sparing the foam.

No insulation tape

If you decide not to use the insulating tape required by GOST on the inside and outside of the window structure, be prepared for the fact that the thermal insulation will gradually become worse and worse. Accordingly, the windows will deteriorate much faster than you would like.

Therefore, if you decide to install a plastic window with your own hands, try to go through everything necessary steps and produce everything necessary actions efficiently, carefully and without haste. Then your beautiful plastic windows, installed by yourself, will delight you and your household for many years.

The advantages of installing plastic windows are not only performance characteristics, but also ease of installation. A simple process, facilitated by the presence of fastening devices and additional parts in the factory configuration, House master He will be able to master and implement it himself. There are a number of nuances in it that dictate the independent installer to scrupulously comply with construction regulations. You will need patience, accuracy and at least one person to help you. Then installing plastic windows yourself will be done flawlessly and practically free of charge.

Preliminary measurements and calculations

Before buying a window, they traditionally take measurements of the opening, taking into account whether it has a quarter or without. Openings with a quarter are a characteristic detail of a foam concrete structure, which significantly reduces heat loss. For an opening without a quarter, you need to order a window whose length will be 5 cm less than the equivalent parameter of the opening. You need to subtract 3 cm from the width value. Gaps along the contour of 1.5 cm are needed for foaming, an additional 3.5 cm from the bottom are needed for the window sill. GOSTs recommend leaving 2.0 cm around the perimeter.

To create an opening with a quarter, measurements are taken at the narrowest point. Windows are ordered by adding 3 cm to the width, the length does not change.

Windows are usually located not in the middle of the opening, but retreating from the outer plane 1/3 in depth. But those who want to install a plastic window with their own hands may have options with an offset to either side. This circumstance must be taken into account when ordering window sills and external ebbs. The widths of both elements calculated according to the location of the window must be added by 5 cm.

Calculations for the width of the window sill are also affected by the location of the battery. It should only cover the radiator halfway. Plus 2 cm for placement under the base of the window. The minimum length margin is 8 cm, but it’s better not to skimp and add 15 cm to cut this part beautifully.

Note. The window sills and ebbs are supplied with plastic side plugs. Don't give up on them.

Frame mounting methods

The installation technology does not depend on the number of internal chambers in the metal-plastic profile, nor on the number of chambers in double-glazed windows. It depends on the material from which the walls of the building are constructed, and on the dimensions of the window. Based on the above prerequisites, the fastening method and devices are selected.

You can fix the plastic window structure:

  • mounting anchors or dowels, embedded in the walls through through holes drilled in the profile;
  • Using special toothed plates that are pressed into the profile, they are not embedded in the wall, but are installed by surprise and secured with screws.

The first method is considered the most reliable. It is used primarily for the installation of large and heavy window systems. With through-mounting, the window will firmly resist numerous impact loads that arise, for example, when operating windows with sashes that open in two different positions. In addition, anchors passing through the frame will allow you to more accurately adjust the verticals and horizontals of the mounted structure.

However, those who want to know how to properly install small plastic windows with double-glazed windows should be interested in the method of fixation with anchor plates. Appearance they will not spoil the windows, since they will then be hidden under the slopes.

Advice. For installation of anchor plates in concrete or brick opening It is advisable to make small recesses so that you do not have to apply an extra leveling layer before installing the internal slopes.

Often builders combine both methods. The anchors are buried in the walls through the side elements of the frame and through the bottom profile (window base), and the top is fixed only with plates. If you install plastic windows yourself wooden bath, anchor plates are rarely used, they can become loose. Instead of anchors, galvanized self-tapping screws are sometimes used.

Specifics of installation in a wooden structure

To a large extent, the installation process is influenced by the type of building material. If for walls made of foam concrete, hollow or solid bricks the differences are only in the size of the depth of the anchors, then there is a special approach to openings in log frames and timber walls. You need to take into account not only how, but also when it is better to install plastic windows in wooden openings, and also how this should be done.

  • Equip with plastic windows wooden building possible only after a year, preferably two years after completion of construction. This significant break is necessary due to post-construction settlement. The shortest shrinkage period and its size are for buildings made of laminated veneer lumber.
  • Installation is not carried out directly into the opening. You can insert a window only in wooden box, protecting the window structure from deformation. There should be no damage, defects or rot on the window unit. Before starting work, it must be treated with an antiseptic.
  • Shrinkage, although not so intense, will continue to occur after the installation of windows and finishing. Taking this into account, a gap of 3-7 cm is left between the upper plane of the opening and the frame. The size of the gap depends on the humidity and the category of materials used in construction. After installing the window, the gap is filled with jute insulation and closed with platbands on both sides.

There are no exact recommendations in building regulations regarding the material for ebbs and window sills in wooden houses. Shimmers are usually used standard, attached to the window structure. The window sill can be either polymer or wood. It is not prohibited for the bottom profile to rest directly on wooden window sill. That is, before installation it may already be there.

There is a nuance not specified in the regulations, but recommended experienced builders for those who are figuring out how to properly install plastic windows. Wood that can allow evaporation to pass through will help reduce technical qualities polyurethane foam. To ensure that the foam “blown out” around the perimeter does not become moistened, window unit It is advisable to equip it with foil polyethylene foam tape along the line of its application.

Standards for installing plastic windows

A distinctive feature of the technology is the use of polyurethane foam, which imparts rigidity to the frame-opening connection. The layer obtained as a result of polymerization of the foam simultaneously serves as insulation and additional fastening. In order for the specified element to save the necessary specifications The foam layer is surrounded by insulating layers.

When it is better to install a plastic window, the owner himself decides. Often recommended winter installation due to the immediate manifestation of all flaws. When choosing polyurethane foam, you must take into account at what atmospheric temperatures the composition will harden better. It is recommended to prefer professional foam, and to work with negative thermometer readings you need to buy a specialized nozzle.

How to perform foaming is described in detail by the manufacturer in the instructions supplied with the product. Foaming usually begins from the bottom, moving upward in a rotary and circular motion. To avoid overconsumption of expensive material, blow out the foam in several stages in sections of 25-30 cm.

Advice. In order to shift the dew point, foaming is performed with unequal density. It is recommended to make the outward-facing layer of foam less dense than the inner one. The foam must be blown evenly around the perimeter, without voids or gaps.

Preparing the window opening

There should be no dust, no debris, no paint residues in the opening - this is a mandatory condition. Home craftsmen who want to know how to insert a plastic window into a wooden structure need to plan off the top “unreliable” layer if the installation will be carried out in a box that has already been used. The foam will adhere firmly to the top layer. If there is a suspicion that it will peel off over time, it is better to eliminate it.

Advice. The gaps between the frame and the opening are filled only with foam if the distance does not exceed the limit of 4 cm. If the gaps are larger, it is better to partially fill them with cheaper material: plasterboard, pieces of timber, foam plastic, brick, etc.

Preparing a plastic window

  • First, free the frame from the sash by removing the pin inserted into the top hinge. You need to carefully pick it up from below with pliers and a screwdriver. Then, slightly lifting it, remove the sash from the lower hinge. Double-glazed windows are removed from fixed windows, having first removed the longitudinal and then the transverse beads. To remove glazing beads, a knife with the thick side or a spatula is carefully inserted into the gap and slowly moved, trying not to damage the glass.

Note. You can insert a small plastic window using mounting plates without removing the sashes or double-glazed windows. If possible, there is no need to violate the integrity of the factory structure.

  • Place the glass unit or sash at an angle against the wall, placing it on flat surface, covered with cardboard or some soft material.

Attention. You can't lay it flat! Place it skewed too. The smallest pebble under the base will cause a crack to appear.

  • WITH outer surface remove the protective film from the frame. If you don’t remove it now, it will be much more difficult to do it later and you will have to use a hair dryer.
  • Regardless of the type of mount chosen, the locations for its installation are marked. The step strongly recommended by builders is 40 cm (a little less is possible), the maximum allowed by GOST is 70 cm. The standard distance from corners and from the impost is 15 cm. If mounting plates are used, they are pre-attached to the frame with self-tapping screws. Holes are made for anchor bolts or long self-tapping screws by placing a metal drill on the outside of the frame.

Most video instructions teaching how to install a plastic window yourself dictate fixing the PSUL protective tape before installation. However, craftsmen who are faced with its sticky “inconvenience” convince us that it is wiser to attach it after installation.

The installation process itself

  • Insert the frame into the opening, placing special plastic corners or small blocks to provide a technological gap. By slightly moving these spacer wedges, align the frame clearly horizontally and vertically with uniform side gaps.

Advice. It is advisable to place the spacer devices next to the fastening point with a self-tapping screw or anchor. They will protect the frame from deformation.

  • Because pvc installation do-it-yourself windows can be done using various fasteners, on at this stage differences appear.
    • Into the opening wooden house Immediately screw the self-tapping screw through the holes in the frame. There is no need to screw it in all the way.
    • On walls made of foam concrete or brick, mark points through the holes in the frame, then remove the frame and drill holes with a drill appropriate for the material. Then return the frame to its place, “attach” the fasteners.
    • There will be no need for double manipulations with the frame when installing it on anchor plates. They should simply be bent so that they are adjacent to the place intended for their fastening.

  • The final fastening is made after checking the horizontal and vertical lines with a spirit level and plumb line. You cannot persist with tightening so that the frame does not begin to bend barrel-shaped. Finish screwing once the head is flush with the frame. Installers advise leaving 1 mm above the surface.
  • Return the dismantled parts to their place in the reverse order and check the functionality of the structure.
  • Fill the gaps with foam. Outside and with inside Cover foamed seams with protective tapes. On the outside, the insulating tape must be “sinked” into
  • Fill the gap under the drain with foam. Install it at an angle away from the window, attach it with self-tapping screws to the bottom profile.
  • After the foam has polymerized, you need to install the window sill. Plastic version 2 cm is inserted under the sweet clover. To create a slight slope from the window, the space under the window sill can also be foamed.
  • It is advisable to make the slopes on the day of installation. Maximum break 3 days after installation.

After completing all operations for 16 hours, it is not recommended to use windows so as not to damage the integrity of the installation seams. Not only skilled owners need to know how to install a plastic window. If the owner of a country estate decides to order the services of a little-known team of installers, he also needs to study the specifics of installation in advance.

Previously, only wooden windows were installed in houses, but nowadays they produce not only wooden ones, but also.

And in the modern world, people often began to install plastic windows in their houses or apartments. So you, at some point, decided that wooden windows no longer hold heat so well, they freeze and look, let’s say, not very attractive, and for this reason you decided to replace wooden windows with plastic ones.

Installation of plastic windows is not easy, so this work is best left to specialists. But, if you are sure that you are capable of installing windows yourself or you have some experience in installing such windows, then you can install the windows yourself.

This is exactly how to properly install a plastic window, which we will tell you further.

The positive quality of installing plastic windows yourself is that you will do it more carefully than many specialized workers. Still, if you do not have the skills to install such windows and have never seen how they do it, then it is best to use the services of specialized workers.

When is the best time to install plastic windows?

Installation of plastic windows can be carried out in winter time, but only if the air temperature outside is not less than minus five degrees. Otherwise, you need to install a special heat shield.

Window measurement

Before purchasing a new plastic window, you need to take measurements window opening and according to the data received, buy a ready-made window or place an order for the manufacture of a window. When you order a window according to your size, it will fit perfectly into the opening of your window.

The window should not be inserted tightly into the opening; there should be a small gap between the window and the opening, since it needs to expand or contract, this will depend on temperature changes.

Clearance requirements

The minimum dimensions of the gaps should be as follows:

  • Window up to 1m 20 cm, the indentation should be 15 mm;
  • Window up to 2 m 20 cm, the indentation is 20 mm;
  • Window up to 3 m, the offset is 25mm.

When you replace a window, you must take into account that the window must fit into the window opening only a certain number of centimeters. This is necessary so that the glass unit is not in the wall and in order to make slopes.

All measurements were taken, all the nuances were taken into account and in the end the required size was obtained. window profile. Now you can go to the company and order a window or buy a ready-made one that suits your parameters.

Removing the old window and preparing the opening

Once you have already purchased a window and the weather allows its installation, you can install it. It is necessary to take into account that all work will be quite dusty, so it is better to remove all things or cover them with film.

After you've done everything preparatory work start dismantling the old window, and in order to remove the old window, use a chisel, pry bar and hammer.

Before installing a plastic window, it is necessary to thoroughly clean window hole from dirt and moisten it a little.

Then you can begin preparing the window for installation.

Installation of a plastic window

Before installing the window profile, the sashes are removed from the window and the double-glazed windows are removed from the blind parts of the window. Then you need to peel off the protective tapes on the outside of the profile and install the protective caps in the drain holes. We attach the fastenings for the mosquito net using self-tapping screws.

Profile insulation

If you decide to use anchors as fastenings, then the profile is drilled through and therefore the chambers are depressurized. Attaching windows to anchors also requires more labor and skill, and for this reason such fastening is not suitable for beginners. If the profile is not secured correctly, it may move, and if it does, the window will be damaged.

But the anchorage also has positive traits, for example, the structure will be durable. But the negative quality of mounting plates is that they do not provide good structural strength. But mounting plates are the easiest type of fastening of plastic windows. Very often, specialists use both types of fasteners.

  1. Usually we start fastening from the corner and make the first fastener at a distance of 120-150 mm and then make the next fastener at a distance of 700 mm. Three fasteners are installed on each side.
  2. Before installing the profile in the opening, you need to check all planes using a level, then use wooden blocks to lift the profile and adjust it vertically.
  3. It is necessary to start vertically from the top of the window opening and raise the profile from below using the materials described above. The next step is to align the profile horizontally. Fastening the profile in the opening from the side and from above is made from wooden blades. After you have made the alignment on all sides, you need to make a profile and if everything is in order, then you can fix it.
  4. If you are fixing the window profile onto mounting plates, then first fix them onto one dowel with a nail. The next step is to check the window profile using a level and only after that mounting plate fix the second dowel with a nail.
  5. If the windows are attached to anchors, then through the holes that were previously made and then using a special tool, make holes in the wall and screw in the anchors without tightening them.
  6. The anchors are not tightened in order to check the installation level of the window and only then can the anchors be tightened, but very slowly so as not to disturb the balance of the profile. When the profile is fixed, we remove the wooden blades from the sides and top, and the lower blades remain, because they are the basis of the window profile.

How to install sills on plastic windows?

The next step of the work is the installation of the ebb.

We measure it and cut it out using metal scissors. right size, then glued to the bottom of the frame special tape, it is needed to protect the seam between the wall and the bottom of the window.

After the tape is glued, a layer is applied to it. A layer of polyurethane foam is also applied to the edge of the slab; this is necessary in order to ensure sealing of the ebb. The ebb should fit into the grooves of the profile and is attached with self-tapping screws.

Sealing seams

Then we close the seam between the wall and the window with polyurethane foam (first from one side, then from the other and from above). After the foam has dried, another insulating tape is glued on top of it. It is necessary to remove the protective tape from the inside of the window and use special pads when installing a double-glazed window.

Use the slats to hold the glass unit, hammer the slats into the grooves and install the sash, fix it in the awnings, then fasten the handle and adjust the sash horizontally and vertically. After all the work, a mosquito net is installed.

How to properly install a window sill on plastic windows?

After all the work, we begin installing the window sill.

  • First, fill the bottom assembly seam well with foam, and stick tape on top of it.
  • Then they install wooden blocks on which the window sill will be attached.
  • Wooden blocks must be at least ten centimeters. Also, the window sill should be tilted five degrees towards the room, and the window sill should not obscure the battery.
  • It is necessary to check whether the window sill is securely attached and it is necessary to solder it from below, preferably with polyurethane foam.

In this article we told you how to install a plastic window and we hope that this information was useful to you. Good luck and patience!

Almost every novice master wants to learn how to install a plastic window himself. The advantages of such windows include not only operational characteristics, but also ease of installation. These designs are completed with fasteners and additional parts, so even a novice craftsman can install the windows with his own hands. However, in order to do everything correctly, you should take into account the existing nuances. First of all, it is worth noting that it is very difficult to complete the work alone, so it is recommended to hire an assistant.

Elements that will be needed to install plastic windows:

  • screwdriver;
  • pliers;
  • polyurethane foam;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • anchor;
  • building level;
  • plumb line;
  • slopes;
  • windowsill;
  • low tides

Before purchasing windows, you will need to take measurements of the opening, taking into account the design. It can be with or without a quarter. Quarter openings are typical for foam block construction. It is worth knowing that such designs significantly reduce heat loss.

In an opening without a quarter, it will be necessary to order windows whose length is 5 cm less than the length of the window opening. The width should be 3 cm less than the corresponding opening indicator. 1.5 cm gaps should be provided along the contour, which will need to be sealed with foam in the future. You will need to leave 3.5 cm at the bottom for the window sill.

Windows with quarter and without quarter

Windows must be ordered by adding 3 cm to the width. The length remains the same. Insulating tapes will need to be applied not to the plastic frame, but to the place where the quarters contact the PVC window. The frame should be pressed against the quarters.

In an opening without a quarter as protective and decorative elements that can prevent the influence external factors on technical properties polyurethane foam, external and internal slopes will be used.

It should be borne in mind that the larger the gap, the greater the consumption of expensive foam. If you want to save money, gaps larger than 4 cm can be partially filled with polystyrene foam or bricks. Gaps from 1 to 4 cm are filled exclusively with foam.

In most cases, windows are not placed in the middle of the opening, but retreating 1/3 deep from the outer base.

However, those who want to mount the window themselves can use options with an offset in the direction they need. This must be taken into account when purchasing a window sill and related accessories. You will need to add approximately 5 cm to the width, which will be calculated based on the placement of the windows.

Existing frame fixation methods

The technology for installing windows will depend on the material from which the walls of the structure are built, as well as on the dimensions of the windows. Based on these factors, you need to choose a method for fixing elements.

You can secure the structures as follows:

  1. Fixation with dowels, which are inserted into the wall through prepared holes in the profile.
  2. Plates with teeth that will need to be pressed into the profile. The elements are not mounted into the wall, but installed sideways and fixed with screws. When the installation is complete, we foam the mounting seams and install slopes under which the anchor plates can be hidden. The space between the plane of the opening and the slope must be filled with foam. To reduce the consumption of foam, part of which will be used for additional leveling, a recess can be made under the plate.

The first method is considered the most reliable. It is used in most cases for installing heavy window structures. If the fastening is through, the window will resist various impact loads that may arise, for example, when using windows with sashes that open in several directions. Anchors that pass through the frame will allow you to adjust the structure vertically and horizontally.

Fixing the frame when installing a window

For people who are interested in independently installing small plastic windows with double-glazed windows, the method of fixing them with anchor plates is suitable.

For installation of plates in an opening made of concrete or brick, it is recommended to prepare small recesses so that there is no need to apply an extra layer for leveling before installing the slopes.

In some cases, masters use both methods. The anchors are immersed in the walls through the side parts of the frame and the base of the structure, and the upper part is fixed with plates. Instead of anchors, galvanized self-tapping screws are sometimes used.

Preparing the window and opening

The opening must be cleared of dust, debris and paint residues. If plastic windows are installed in an existing opening, then upper layer need to be cut down. The foam will need to adhere firmly to this layer.

The gaps between the frame and the opening can be filled exclusively with foam.

To prepare the window, you need to do the following:

  1. We release the frame from the sash. To do this, you need to remove the pin, which is mounted in the upper loop. Next, you need to carefully pick it up at the bottom. The element must be lifted and removed from the lower loop. Double-glazed windows must be removed from blind windows. To do this, you will need to remove first the longitudinal and then the transverse beads. To remove glazing beads, you need to insert a knife or spatula into the gap, and then slowly move it away. It is worth noting that a small window can be installed even without dismantling the sashes.
  2. The glass unit must be leaned against the wall at an angle, then placed on a flat base, which is covered with cardboard. It is not allowed to install the window flat, as cracks may appear due to the impact of stones.
  3. The protective film must be removed from the outer base of the frame. This will be much more difficult to do in the future, so it is recommended to remove it at this stage.
  4. Finally, you need to place a place for mounting fasteners. The recommended installation step for these devices is 40 cm. If you plan to use mounting plates, they will need to be attached to the frame in advance with self-tapping screws. Holes must be made for anchors or screws; the drill should be placed on the outside of the frame.

Window structure after installation

Sequence of actions for installing windows

The frame will need to be inserted into the opening. First you need to lay plastic corners or small bars around the perimeter. These elements will be needed to ensure technological gap. The blades need to be moved slightly so that it is possible to clearly align the frame horizontally and vertically with equal slots. It is recommended to check the location building level. The blades must be placed close to the fixation point with screws or anchors.

Speaking about how to install plastic windows, it is worth knowing that installation can be done in several ways. Therefore, at this stage there will be differences. The sequence of actions will be as follows:

  1. A self-tapping screw must be screwed into the opening of a wooden house through the recesses in the frame. In this case, you do not need to screw the fasteners all the way.
  2. On foam concrete or brick walls, points should be marked through the recesses in the frame, then remove the frame and drill holes with a drill that matches the material. Then we put the frame in place and install the fastening element.
  3. There is no need to perform any complex actions when installing on anchor plates. They will need to be bent so that they adjoin the place that is intended for their fastening.
  4. The final fixation is carried out after checking the horizontal and vertical lines with a plumb line. There is no need to tighten the elements too much, as the frame may bend. Screwing must be completed when the head is level with the frame.
  5. The parts that were removed will need to be returned to their place in the reverse order, and then the functionality of the product will be checked.
  6. The gaps need to be filled construction foam. The seams are covered with protective tape. On the outside, the insulation tape must be recessed.
  7. You need to fill the gap under the drain with foam.
  8. At the next stage, the window sill is installed. The plastic structure will need to be inserted a few centimeters under the clover.
