The door frame is a power profiled frame on which a movable leaf is hung, and through which the door block is fastened in the opening. The resistance of the door to breaking, its durability and insulating characteristics depend on the reliability, stable geometry of the frame. This frame in most cases is closed, that is, at the bottom the vertical posts are connected by a threshold, which is an integral part of the structure. Extremely rare, only special occasions, boxes are made in U-shaped, without thresholds. One of uprights is a carrier, there are from two to four loops on it, it is also called a “loop”. It also has receiving holes for anti-removable pins (“anti-cuts”). The opposite post is sometimes called a lock post, it has holes for the crossbars of the locks, as well as for the locking elements of the crab mechanisms. Top bar and threshold can also participate in multi-point closing. On both racks are pre-welded mounting plates, as a rule, there are three of them on each side; in some designs, holes for the anchor are drilled in the body of the box.

A very important element of steel door frames is the porch. In fact, this is a shelf ("quarter"), which serves to install the seal (sometimes the seal is fixed to the canvas) and provide design insulation characteristics (heat, sound, smell, dust, insects ...). The narthex is maintained along the entire perimeter of the “web/box” junction, including along the horizontal elements. Depending on how many adjoining shelves are available, there are boxes with one, two or even three sealing circuits. In some doors (technical, temporary ...) insulation is not particularly needed - here you can use doors without porches, that is, with a box from the corner.

In the vast majority of cases, an integral part of the door frame is the platband, made in the form of a steel strip with a width of 50 mm or more, with or without a flanging along the edge. It serves to visually block the mounting seams and eliminate the possibility of intruders' access to fasteners, including - do not let the crowbar get behind the racks of the box. In bent profile boxes, the platband is made up of two sheets of metal. Doors that are not installed flush with the opening, but inside it, do not have a casing. When finishing metal door platbands are usually sheathed with similar sheet materials, or colored.

A steel door frame is made from cold-rolled rolled metal with a thickness of 2-5 mm. This rolled metal, of course, is profiled - having stiffeners. The most widespread boxes from the corner, profile pipe, channel, bent sheet.

A box from a corner (with a shelf of 50, 63 mm) lies close to the edge of the opening and takes up very little useful space - that is, we get the widest possible free passage. For this reason this design indispensable for narrow openings. Crimping double boxes are also made from the corner (the corners cover both corners of the opening and are connected by stripes), which are good if the walls have a weak bearing capacity. The disadvantage of boxes from the corner can be considered the weak insulating properties of the finished door block, since the porch is either absent altogether, or it is alone. IN residential buildings and apartments corner design is used extremely rarely, but in utility rooms- vice versa. An undoubted advantage of the corner frames will be the fact that the corner has a solid thickness (about 5 mm) of the shelves and perfectly holds the crossbars of the locking mechanisms during a force break-in, and is less deformed when trying to wring out.

Boxes from a profile rectangular pipe with a wall thickness of 2 mm are considered the most common. In this case, the main material is a closed profile with a section of 40X25, 40X40, 60X40 mm. Boxes are rarely made from single pipes, as a rule, a combination of pipes of different cross-sections is used, which are welded together at right angles throughout their entire length. Such spatial structures allow you to create several sealing contours, however, it should be noted that they somewhat hide the width of the opening.

Boxes from a bent profile show good results in terms of sound and heat insulation. The door leaf in them can be recessed flush, and the number of porches can reach three. Fundamentally, closed and open bent boxes are distinguished. The former are welded from two mutually complementary parts and have good rigidity. The second ones have a section similar to the letter “P”, the Israelis offer to fill them with concrete on their metal doors after installation, tying them with reinforcement with the wall array. Open boxes are also often reinforced with various strips to add dimensional stability to the system. Some Italian manufacturers make two-piece boxes: first, a mounting element is fixed in the opening with anchors, and then to it (with wide opportunities correction) with hidden screws fix the finishing box.

Bent boxes with a continuous anti-removal are distinguished by a special configuration. The highlight is that the hinge post approximately in the middle has a groove for the entire height of the door. In turn, on the door leaf there is a 10 mm thick bend, which in the closed position enters the frame groove. When cutting the loops, the canvas cannot be removed from the box. Such doors are made for both external and internal opening, they have 2 sealing circuits.

All details of the boxes, regardless of the design, are painted in the same color as the ends of the doors. Sometimes a powder spray method is used for this, if it is used to finish the canvas. To improve thermal insulation properties of the finished door block, the cavities of the box are filled mineral wool or blown out with polyurethane foam. Summing up, we note that it cannot be argued that some specific box designs are better than others. If the door assembly technology is observed, and for all building regulations the installation of the product is underway - there will be no problems. But for this you should turn to professionals.

Modern technologies allow you to create metal entrance doors of various shapes, sizes and protective characteristics. Steel is one of the most popular materials for the range iron models. external facade decoration made of various decorative materials;

a sealant located between the canvas and the skin to increase thermal protection;

fastening systems - hinges: open, hidden, equipped with anti-burglary systems;

platbands;

additional elements: locks, latches, peephole, handles, seals.

The correct ratio of the dimensions of the box and the opening can only be guaranteed by well-conducted measurements, as well as further careful selection of the design. Measurements can be performed by both representatives of a specialized company and the customer himself. For this, it is necessary to study existing regulations. All linear values ​​of entrance doors are interconnected, determined by SNIPs and GOSTs, under which the sizes of non-standard models are often adjusted.

What sizes are in Russia?

The linear dimensions of the inlet block structure are affected by technical requirements for the operation of the premises. The limiting values ​​​​of the thickness of the canvas of ordinary and all reinforced models already weigh more than 200 kg.

To reduce the load on the box, to prevent deformation of the web, these models are mounted not on two, but on three or four loops.

Non-standard doors

Non-standard doors include doors that do not match in shape, thickness, height, decorative solution(glass inserts) and the number of amplifications with average values ​​of the norm. The permissible parameters of such models are fixed by separate articles of GOSTs and SNIPs.

How to make the correct measurement?

Before taking measurements, it is necessary to dismantle the old doors, including the architraves. If necessary, remove the threshold.

Rigid metal constructions need smooth walls, therefore, with the help of the level, the degree of curvature of the walls is determined. After that, the length, width and depth of the opening are measured with a tape measure. The width and length values ​​are taken from the base of the wall, the results obtained are compared with the reference ones. The clearances are checked.

The opening of non-standard sizes is adjusted to the GOST values: they are expanded with a perforator, a grinder, or they are narrowed to predetermined values ​​with high-quality cement and leveled. The deviation of the plane should not exceed 3 mm along the entire length or width.

What else needs to be considered?

There are technical gaps between the opening, the box and the canvas. They are necessary in order to easily carry out the installation of the unit, to ensure the free movement of the door.

The inner perimeter of the box is larger than the outer perimeter of the main door structure (excluding the influx) due to gaps:
