Brick outdoor barbecue grills. Barbecue oven. Scheme, laying and ordering a brick barbecue with your own hands

Often the concepts of barbecue and barbecue are confused, as they are built for cooking on smoke and coals. But a brazier is needed for cooking barbecue, and a barbecue is a way to cook dishes on an open fire using a grill.

Ordinary brazier can be turned into a barbecue by attaching a grill to it.

barbecue oven are mobile and stationary, the dimensions depend on the functions performed. The simplest furnace is built in dimensions 0.18*0.07*0.9m, resembles an ordinary brazier with a grate.

A slightly improved barbecue is being built with a place for a hob, its dimensions are 1.7*0.4*1.9m. Protozoa furnace complex has dimensions 1.2*2.2*1.9m.

Furnaces are offered for construction with a cauldron, barbecue, stove, and other devices for cooking on charcoal. You just have to choose the project that suits your needs. We will tell you in detail in this article about how to build a brick barbecue with your own hands. Drawings, photos of some projects are attached. Well, the dimensions of a brick barbecue, drawings and photographs of other models of stoves can be found on the adjacent pages of our site.

Why build an outdoor brick barbecue with your own hands?

Contemporary variety of street tiles does not make it possible to choose a single model - I want to take an element from each project. Building a brick garden barbecue oven with your own hands allows you to combine them into one perfect oven on your site.

Photo 1. A small, highly aesthetic garden barbecue oven made of bricks with a barbecue and a work table. Such an uncomplicated do-it-yourself barbecue stove is built from brick and stone easily and quickly, especially if there is a special instruction for laying a barbecue with a barbecue.

TO advantages of a brick oven own construction include the following advantages:

  • the possibility of creating own project;
  • the stove constructed in this way will stationary- it will not be stolen, even if the owners of the site will be absent for a long time;
  • confidence in the materials and durability of the assembled furnace;
  • laying a barbecue is so simple that a person without the experience of a stove-maker can master it;
  • giving the site classical style or country style;
  • creating a reason for pride in front of friends.

What are the projects of a barbecue oven and a brick barbecue?

The main projects for building a barbecue for a brick cottage are divided into 3 types:

  • without pipe- the simplest oven, resembling a barbecue, requiring minimal cost to the building;
  • with pipe- an improved oven, when cooking in which the smoke will not be scattered by the wind in different directions;
  • with pipe and hob- for the possibility of preparing first courses, for example, soups, borscht, fish soup.

The best option is to create furnaces with a pipe without a plate, because most often the company is going to eat hot kebabs with no less hot drinks.

The pipe in the design of the stove will protect the vacationers from the random dispersion of smoke, flying ash particles.

Brick BBQ Building: Cost Estimate

One of the first stages in the implementation of the project is the calculation of the material that will be needed to build the furnace. Garden barbecues for summer cottages have many diagrams showing how to make this or that structure, and ordering is attached to some of them. Here it is especially convenient to determine in advance the volume of necessary building materials.

Calculation of the amount of ordinary brick for construction stove with chimney(in rows): 38+10.5+10.5+10.5+10.5+33+33.5+13+13+13+13+35+35+9+9+9+9+9 +9+9+9+18+26+22+20+12+10+9+7+5+5 = 474.5 pcs.

  • ordinary Red brick 1 grade - 474.5 pcs.;

Calculation of the amount of refractory bricks for laying out firebox(starting from row 14): 7+7+7.5+7.5+7+7.5+7+3 = 53.5 pcs.

  • refractory brick to create a firebox - 53.5 pcs.;
  • concrete mortar for pouring the foundation or its mixture of water, sand, crushed stone, cement in a ratio of 4:4:4:1;
  • metal pipe 15-20 cm in diameter - 1 piece;
  • board for the formation of formwork - 1 pc.;
  • coarse sand- 17 kg;
  • reinforcing mesh - 2 m;
  • sheet metal - 1 PC.;
  • countertop- 1 PC.;
  • oven grate for collecting coal - 1 pc.;
  • silicone and heat resistant sealant for sealing cracks in masonry - 1 tube;
  • facing material.

Before proceeding to the construction phase, check if there is tools:

  • shovel;
  • building level;
  • rope;
  • roulette;
  • hammer.

Such tools are so simple that it is difficult to find an alternative to use them.

Attention! When building a furnace, you will need half bricks - they can be made using a grinder.

Choosing and preparing a place for construction

The place where you can build a barbecue oven with your own hands is chosen based on comfort and fire safety. On distance of 3-4 meters from the furnace trees, bushes, grass should not grow. If extensions, a bathhouse, and other buildings are built on the site, the stove must be built in the distance. The prevailing wind direction should not be the direction towards your own and neighboring buildings.

Photo 2. An improvised place to relax with a barbecue in garden thickets. Surely you have such a corner on the site where a brick barbecue fits perfectly. The photo does not allow us to estimate the size of the site, but even a small stove will look better than such a scorched piece of land.

If we discuss the comfort of using future cooking in an outdoor oven, it is most convenient to place the structure next to recreation area- patio, gazebo, terrace. If there are no such places on the site, you can choose any place for a barbecue, and place a table with chairs next to it. Keep in mind that you will need a lot of water and wood for cooking and maintaining the oven. The size of the working area of the furnace is selected depending on the financial capabilities and the size of the site.

  • located on the leeward side of a residential building. Otherwise, the smoke will go to the house, penetrating inside and leaving traces of soot outside;
  • the undesirable presence of plants next to a barbecue grill made of bricks - their vital activity will be disrupted due to high temperatures.

When a place is chosen, you should prepare platform for the oven zone. The soil is cleared of the fertile layer: grass, bushes, trees. It is allowed to remove trees from your site without the consent of the local authorities, provided there are no environmental restrictions.

Attention! Remember that roots left in the ground can sprout, damaging flooring furnace zone.

Usually, during the planning and clearing of the area for future construction, coniferous and fruit trees. After that, you can go to the stage of pouring the foundation according to the shape and size that the barbecue drawing scheme you have chosen suggests.

Brick barbecue construction

Oven on personal plot, no matter what type it belongs to, this structure is quite intricate and requires a certain amount of knowledge. Therefore, for everyone who decides to build a barbecue for a summer residence with their own hands, step-by-step instruction, which is given on this page of the site, is simply necessary. If laying barbecue ovens with your hands is a process unfamiliar to you, you are unlikely to be able to lay out even the first row of brickwork without such instructions.

Prior to construction, it is desirable to carry out an approximate drawing for calculation required amount materials and proper construction.

Stove builders with extensive experience do not use a masonry drawing (they already know by heart how to lay out a brick barbecue with their own hands).

If you are not a specialist, you - in addition to the usual drawing - will also need ordering brick barbecue, masonry drawings or a detailed diagram of barbecue masonry.

Any brick barbecue oven is built in layers - one row of bricks after another. The number of bricks in each row is not the same and they can be stacked in different ways. In order to know exactly how to fold a brick barbecue with your own hands and not confuse anything, you need drawings with order. Even a novice stove-maker, having such drawings in his hands, is sure that the projects for ordering barbecue ovens will help to avoid gross mistakes during the construction.

How barbecue stoves are made for brick cottages: foundation (in stages)

The heavy weight of a brick oven requires a solid foundation. Equally suitable tape And monolithic foundation. We will use the recommendations of furnace specialists and give preference to the monolithic version.

Attention! It is best to pave the working area around the oven.

So, let's start building a barbecue with our own hands - step by step instructions for pouring the foundation:

  • digging a pit 1.5*2 m with depth up to 0.4 m.
  • the bottom is leveled with shovel;
  • covered with a layer of sand 10 cm thick, filled with a small amount of water, rammed;
  • a wooden formwork fastened with self-tapping screws is installed;
  • reinforcing mesh is laid;
  • the foundation is poured with concrete mortar;
  • leave for a week to freeze.

Attention! When mixing, air accumulates in the solution, due to which the strength of the structure decreases. To eliminate air, you need to make holes in the uncured concrete.

Brick BBQ: base

The base on which the entire structure of the stove will be installed is the first stage from which the laying of a brick barbecue begins. The step-by-step instructions that we provide here should help to avoid mistakes, due to which the entire structure may ultimately be unusable.

Attention! At the stage of laying out a barbecue with your own hands, red burnt bricks of the 1st grade and a cement mortar are used step by step.

After the foundation has hardened, it is carefully studied for presence of cracks. They need to be sealed and wait until they harden.

Next, marked furnace outline. Experts recommend pulling the cord between pieces of reinforcement stuck in the corners. Bricks are laid along the cord, lubricated with cement mortar and 2 layers are laid, starting with half a brick.

You should check the evenness of the masonry with a level.

Attention! Tap with a hammer on the top and side of each laid brick - this strengthens the adhesion of building materials.

A grate for coals is laid on the second row. Apply the mortar to the end of the brick to increase the reliability of the masonry.

Subsequent rows will start with halves of a brick. Further, 5 rows of bricks are laid according to the presented scheme. Starting from the 6th, will be located oven tray- a small protrusion is made here. 3 rows are laid according to the scheme, and a new ledge for oven table basics.

Advice! Choose the height of the oven and table, guided by ease of use. You can freely relate to the number of initial rows - they do not affect the strength and reliability of the structure.

Barbecue oven masonry: firebox

Attention! At this stage, you will need 2 types of bricks - ordinary red and refractory, a solution of clay and sand. The bricks will be laid out in 2 rows - the outer one is made of red brick, the inner one is made of fireclay. The bottom of the firebox should also be lined with refractory bricks.

Basis for firebox And countertops made in the form of a screed. Bars of boards are laid out with a thickness of one brick of bricks, cut into the size of the span. From above it is poured with a solution of concrete, left for 5 days.

The height of this part of the furnace depends on its shape: 9 bricks for a rectangular one, 7 for an arched one. Depth - up to 70 cm. The pipe is displayed after a few rows.

Photo 3. There is a process of building a brick barbecue. The photo was taken at the stage when the laying of the barbecue oven is almost ready and the construction of the woodshed is being completed. Another module is in the process of laying the first row of bricks.

Attention! To remove the chimney, the masonry area is gradually reduced, each row is reduced by half a brick in length and ¼ in width. From the 7th row, the laying of a pipe up to 13 rows high will begin.

Chimney masonry

Attention! At this stage, red brick and cement mortar are used.

A chimney in a brick barbecue located in the gazebo is bought at a hardware store or welded from sheet material . To seal the free space between the pipe and the furnace, apply heat resistant sealant. The gazebo must have a fireproof opening for the chimney.

Important! A cap is put on the upper end of the pipe to create the correct draft and protect the furnace from precipitation, which can impair its functionality.

It is easier to buy a tabletop in a store by attaching it to the created ledge silicone sealant. To make it yourself, you need to plaster with cement and tile or stone the surface after installing the slab.

Decorating a stove with a pipe

After removing the chimney, you can take care of the appearance of the barbecue. To do this, decorating the barbecue and barbecue oven with your own hands is done: the floor covering is laid out with non-slip material, for example, porcelain stoneware. In this case, a special glue is used. Walking along the facade grinder and clean with a brush to remove residual mortar. You can use tiles or wild stone to improve the aesthetic appearance of the structure.

Additional Attributes

To increase the comfort of rest next to the outdoor stove, it is advisable to take care of additional attributes.

To decorate the site and the possibility of a cozy time in the evening, you should supply electricity and perform table lighting, hearth, space under the roof, the boundaries of the recreation area or site.

Photo 4. A detailed diagram of a barbecue made of bricks by English-speaking specialists. In addition to the oven itself, the figure also contains a description of the work table with the required dimensions. If you are going to build a brick barbecue with your own hands, drawings of this kind will be necessary.

work table to prepare food for cooking, rack for placing spices, utensils and accessories are located next to working area.

It is possible to completely place the furnace with a pipe in glazed gazebo and cook delicious kebabs all year round or mount a canopy for basic protection from precipitation.

As furniture for relaxation, a table, benches or chairs are purchased or created. Designers do not recommend buying cheap plastic furniture - it will spoil the atmosphere of outdoor cooking and can cause a fire. It is better to give preference to forged, wooden, wicker furniture in natural colors.

Fire safety

Remember to follow fire safety rules. No one wants to interrupt their vacation to call the fire department and eliminate the consequences of a fire in nearby objects.

Fire Prevention Stove Installation Rules:

  • the need to build on a solid foundation;
  • finishing metal sheets or other non-flammable floor material in front of the stove;
  • accommodation at a reasonable distance from flammable substances, trees, bushes, buildings.

Photo 5. A set of imported fire extinguishers of various sizes. For fire safety purposes, any brick barbecue oven must be equipped with one of these items: the photo shows how rich the choice of the owner of the cottage is.

Operating rules:

  • when the oven is idle, it is covered case so that precipitation does not disrupt functionality;
  • protect children from a location close to the furnace;
  • do not leave a lit stove, especially with food, without supervision.

The process of cooking shish kebab on an ordinary iron grill is well known to everyone. But in windy weather or during sudden rain, frying meat becomes problematic, if not impossible. It is much more convenient to make a barbecue or barbecue on a stationary brick grill located under a canopy. In this case, the sudden vagaries of the weather will not spoil your plans. IN this material will tell you how to do it outdoor grill from bricks with their own hands.

Schemes of stationary braziers made of bricks

Differences between open-air foci and traditional ones brick ovens are as follows:

  • brazier or barbecue is built with the aim of creating comfortable conditions cooking various dishes in the open air;
  • the design of the outdoor barbecue is much simpler, and the requirements for materials are not so high;
  • a simple brick outdoor oven can be folded at home or in the country by almost every homeowner;
  • the dimensions and arrangement of the brazier are chosen arbitrarily, depending on the wishes and capabilities of the owners of the house.

All these features, and even the arrangement of the foundation in the yard, somewhat simplify the work on laying barbecues, it is a little more difficult to build street garden ovens. The latter are small oven complexes where you can not only fry shish kebab, but also cook a variety of food. But first, we will consider the simplest version of a stationary barbecue, which does not even require a solution.

The building shown in the photo is built in just half an hour on any flat area. To fold 4 supports, any brick will do, as long as it is even. The height of the supports is arbitrary, according to your height, so that it is convenient to cook. Then a slab is placed on top, preferably from fire resistant material, for example, concrete or mineralite. Further, the bottom is laid out of red brick (it can be hollow), and then the walls are erected according to the usual technology with dressing.

This design is good because it does not require a solution, it is quickly erected and transferred from place to place. In addition, the height and dimensions of the barbecue are at your discretion, but within reasonable limits so that the structure is stable. Do not forget to install a metal brazier on the brick bottom, and make small slots in the masonry for air access.

This kind small barbecue can also be built on a solution by attaching a metal smoke box in the form of an umbrella on top. Thanks to this, the smoke during cooking will not disperse in different directions and get into your face. Below is a diagram of a brick brazier with a concrete slab and an exhaust hood:

The difficulty in the construction of this structure is one - pouring a concrete slab. But if available in household small scraps of plywood or OSB, and wooden bars, the issue is resolved quickly enough. Racks are made of bars, and formwork panels are made of plywood. So that milk does not flow out of the concrete, and the plywood does not get wet, the inside of the formwork must be covered before pouring plastic wrap. There it is also necessary to place a mesh of reinforcement with a diameter of 10-12 mm. The figure shows a diagram of the formwork device and the arrangement of the brazier:

The smoke collector is made of galvanized roofing steel and is mounted on top of the brazier. Kindling a fire directly on a concrete slab is not recommended; it is better to adapt a metal brazier for this purpose.

Outdoor oven complexes

The next option is a barbecue oven with a chimney and additional cabinets for kitchen utensils. The mouth of the firebox and the openings for the cabinets are conceived with arched vaults, the woodshed niche - with the usual ceiling of bricks laid on steel corners. Below are the drawings for a brick brazier and the order for its construction:

As you can see from the order, inner part the firebox is laid out from fireclay bricks, which means it does not require a separate brazier. The height of the chimney is arbitrary, depending on the location of the furnace and the height of the canopy above it.

The last option that we want to present is a more complex outdoor stove for summer cottages. This will require some experience and knowledge of the furnace business. The oven is designed not only for cooking barbecue, but also for cooking, as it is equipped with hob. In this case, the device of an outdoor stove provides for a smoke circulation and requires more materials and accessories:

  • full-bodied ceramic brick - 450 pcs.;
  • red hollow brick - 180 pcs.;
  • fireclay bricks - 201 pcs.;
  • cement brand 400 - 200 kg;
  • chamotte clay - 40 kg;
  • sand - 0.1 m3;
  • corner 40 x 40 mm - 4 m;
  • cast iron plate 710 x 410 mm;
  • firebox door 410 x 410 mm - 1 pc.;
  • valve - 1 pc.;
  • door for cleaning 140 x 140 mm - 1 pc.

Here also the internal parts of the furnace exposed to open flames or high temperature, laid out with fireclay bricks. It is necessary to start preparing and building, having studied the drawing of a brick brazier, which shows the sections of the furnace and its order:

Necessary materials for construction

In our case, the main building material is brick. When building simple barbecues, the requirements for it are low. The chamber where it is planned to place the brazier should be made of red ceramic brick, even hollow. As for the lower support part, here the choice of material is entirely at your discretion and possibilities. The task of this part is to support the structure, it is not exposed to high temperatures, which means that it can be made of any suitable material.

If a simple do-it-yourself brick outdoor grill has an unsightly appearance, then it can always be plastered or overlaid with inexpensive porcelain stoneware, but only after the masonry mortar has dried completely.

Another thing is brick street stoves. Here it is necessary to follow all the rules of kiln art and use high-quality material. For construction, you will need a solid red brick without cracks and damage, the same applies to fireclay stone. The solution should be used only sand-clay in proportions of 1: 1, and for refractory masonry - a solution of chamotte clay. Such building mixes in dry form are commercially available.

Advice. For laying simple barbecues, 20% M400 cement can be added to the sand-clay mortar for strength.

Any garden stove or barbecue is installed on solid foundation, so you need to stock up on sand, cement and gravel for the foundation. Do not forget about the tools necessary for masonry work, and for arched vaults you will need special templates - circles. They can be cut from drywall.

Foundation laying

The foundation device is a rather complicated matter and requires geological exploration of the soil composition. But the construction of a hearth in the yard should be approached a little easier and at a lower cost. Universal Recipe is a reinforced concrete slab. Its filling is performed in the following sequence:

  • dig a hole 30 cm deep and 10-20 cm larger than the future stationary barbecue;
  • tamp the bottom and cover it with rubble by 15 cm;
  • install a formwork protruding 10 cm above ground level;
  • cover the pit along with the formwork with plastic wrap;
  • tie a mesh of reinforcement with a diameter of 12-14 mm with cells 150 x 150 mm. Lay it on the bottom of the pit on top of the film, placing stands;
  • prepare concrete in proportions of 1 part of cement / 3 parts of sand / 7 parts of crushed stone of medium or small size and lay it in the formwork;
  • after setting, cover the slab with a film and wait 28 days until it hardens completely.

Before making a brazier, the surface of the foundation must be covered with 2 layers of roofing material, ensuring the waterproofing of the structure.

The simplest brick braziers for summer cottages are built in compliance with the usual rules for laying stones with dressing and alignment in terms of level and plumb. Here it is important to prepare a good solution of sifted sand and clay so that no pebbles come across in it. The thickness of the masonry seam on clay mortar is observed within 5 mm, on cement - up to 10 mm.

Advice. The lower supporting parts of the brazier can be laid on a cement-sand mortar with a small addition of clay for plasticity.

More stringent rules apply if it is necessary to build a brick brazier in the form of a courtyard stove complex:

  • each brick is soaked for 2-3 minutes in a bucket of water;
  • fireclay and ordinary masonry are not tied up with each other;
  • bricks are adjusted and trimmed as a result of fitting. To do this, the row must first be laid out without mortar;
  • the horizontal and vertical of the building is checked after laying each row of stones.

Advice. If you want to build a brick brazier with a decorative slit-like seam, you must not reach the solution during masonry front side stone.

In order to better understand the sequence of actions, as an example, step-by-step instructions are offered for laying a brick barbecue grill with cabinets for kitchen utensils. The previous section shows its orders (Option 3) to be followed. So, the order of masonry is as follows:

  • from the 1st row to the 8th, the walls of cabinets and a wood-burning niche are being erected;
  • 9th row: using templates, the arches of red brick cabinets are laid out, steel corners are placed above the woodshed;
  • 10th row: the overlap of a wood-burning niche is formed from refractory stones, cut to 18 cm and laid on edge;
  • 11th and 12th rows: all niches overlap, while around the entire perimeter the bricks are released outward by a quarter;
  • on the 15th row, a firebox made of fireclay bricks is laid out. A circle is cut out and installed to form a vault;
  • on the 20th row, external walls and a firebox are being erected. An arched vault is laid out of fireclay stones, cut "under the wedge";
  • from the 20th to the 24th row, the bricks are cut so as to gradually move to the section of the chimney;
  • all the stones of the 24th row are released outward by a quarter, then the construction of the chimney follows.

As a result, we get such a nice structure:

Conclusion

If you choose braziers for a summer residence or a house of a simple design, then their construction will not be great work. As for outdoor stoves, here you will have to spend time and effort, but the result looks much better and more practical.

Portable light barbecues are good in nature, but near the house or in the country you want more convenience, and aesthetics. All this can give brick barbecues. Due to the plasticity of the material, they can be small - they occupy about one square place of the area, or there can be decent corner complexes with a hearth, a hob, and even a sink and water / sewage. Even a completely inexperienced bricklayer can lay out the simplest brick braziers with his own hands. One such project will be described in detail below. It can be used as a training task before building something more serious.

Simple brick brazier

Any building made of brick requires a foundation. And even such a small brazier, as presented below, is very undesirable to put directly on the ground. The foundation will have to be poured. You can make it tape or slab. The stove is more reliable: in winter it will not lead and the masonry will not fall apart.

The dimensions of the foundation for a barbecue made of bricks are 10-15 cm larger than its dimensions. First, the vegetation layer is removed, if necessary, the pit is deepened by 10-15 cm. Its bottom is leveled and rammed. A layer of crushed stone 10 cm is poured and rammed again. It is advisable to use a vibrating plate in this case: you do not compact the soil sufficiently with a manual rammer. Tape height - 20-30 cm, thickness slab foundation- 10 cm.

Depending on the type of foundation chosen, an appropriate formwork is constructed. For greater strength, reinforcement is made with a bar of 10-12 mm in diameter. For the tape - two threads are laid around the perimeter, for the slab they make a “cage”: the bars are laid along and across in increments of 20 cm. Everything is poured with concrete of a grade of at least M200.

If the temperature during construction stays around +20°C, work can continue after about a week: the concrete has gained more than half its strength. Two rows of waterproofing are laid on it (roofing material, roofing felt, modern roll waterproofing), smear bituminous mastic or other liquid waterproofing solution. After that, you can start laying.

Dimensions and materials

You can fold this small brick brazier with your own hands without even having any experience. It is a building in the form of the letter "P". There are two parts: the brazier itself and a table next to it. The design is simple and easy to modify. You can add another section next to it, make it wider or narrower, deeper or smaller. You can make two ledges under the bars - this is if it will be prepared a large number of kebabs.

The basic dimensions are:

  • width 180 cm;
  • depth 90 cm;
  • brazier height 100 cm.

For laying this garden grill you can take a full-bodied ceramic brick, you can also use fireclay SHA-8. For the order given below, 202 bricks were used.

For the lower part - up to the 5th row - the mortar is used cement-sand 1: 3 or with the addition of one part of lime to it. Further, where heating will already take place, a clay-sand mortar is used. Its proportions are selected based on the qualities of clay (oily, normal, skinny). In terms of density - it should not be too liquid, but not too thick. About like a good thick sour cream.

Order and order of work

This country brazier is made up of bricks laid "on the bed". Two protruding rows (bricks are laid across) serve as a support for the brazier sheet and the grill grid. Here you can put it on a spoon (put it on the narrow part), then the sheet will rise a little higher. In the lower part, you can stack firewood or use it for other household needs.

The rows are placed in a dressing - with an offset, for this you need halves of bricks. They can be cut with a grinder. The first six rows form the brazier and table on the right. Starting from the 7th row, the masonry goes only in the part where the brazier itself will be located.

Seam thickness 5-8 mm. It must be the same.

In order not to disturb the geometry during construction, you can stretch the cords and level all rows along them. But each brick and each row is controlled by the level to horizontal. Constantly need to check the verticality of the walls and corners. To do this, use a construction plumb line (a cord with a weight at the end). You can also check the verticality with a level, but it has an error, especially if it is not a professional, but an amateur instrument. So with such a check, there is a solid probability of getting a brazier with oblique, littered walls.

The ordering of this brick barbecue is simple, and does not require additional explanation. There may be questions about drying. If the weather is dry, leave the brazier to dry for three to four days. Then you can gradually build a fire. For a couple of days, heat in a gentle mode, using thin firewood and little by little. Then you can fry the first batch of kebabs.

One of the options for a simple brazier made of bricks. It differs from the basic version in that there are two rows of protruding bricks. Another difference is that the table is smaller.

If rains are expected, and there is no canopy over the barbecue, cover it with oilcloth. After about a week, you can start slow drying: make a small fire and not for long. Drying will also take 2-3 days. Then a brazier made of bricks, folded with your own hands, can be tested.

Video ordering of a brazier made of bricks with a stove

For those who perceive the visuals better than the words, it will be more convenient to look than to read the description. For you, detailed explanations of how to build a brick brazier with your own hands in video format.

This building is more monumental - and the vault near the firebox is round and the slab is nearby. Without any experience at all, it will be difficult to cope.

Brick brazier in the gazebo

If you are going to install a brick barbecue in a gazebo, the options proposed above will not work - the smoke will be all under the roof, which will not add joy to you. For gazebos you need a barbecue with exhaust pipe. This construction is more complex, but you can also do this option yourself. It is also not very difficult to fold the order of the barbecue made of bricks for a gazebo with your own hands below. It also, like the first, has an even arch, which is much easier to do in the absence of experience.

Dimensions and materials

This brick brazier / barbecue is of medium size:

  • width 150 cm;
  • depth 75 cm;
  • total height to the beginning of the flue pipe 217.5 cm.

For masonry, you can use ceramic solid bricks. For the area where the fire will burn, you can (but not necessarily) use fireclay bricks. In the figure, it is indicated in light yellow.

The laying of the "cold" belt - up to the 11th row inclusive - can be done on a cement-sand mortar (1: 3). Next, you need to use clay-sand. The thickness of the seam in any case is 5-7 mm. Hold it for sure.

Structurally, this brazier consists of three “cold” compartments in which firewood can be stored and used for household items. The "hot" zone starts from the 12th row. Here they make a fire, install a barbecue grill or barbecue racks.

Order and explanation

The ordering of this brick brazier is a little more complicated, so explanations are needed. The first row is laid out on the same level with the floor of the gazebo. If your foundation turned out to be low, you can also raise it with bricks laid on cement mortar.

The next four rows are laid with dressing. This will be a firewood shed - an area where it is convenient to stack firewood. On the fifth row, three strips of metal 3 mm thick and 50 mm wide are laid on top. They will serve as a support for the bricks of the next row. Lay the sixth and seventh rows according to the scheme.

In the 8th row, the formation of two chambers for household items begins. Look carefully at the location of the seams. This is fundamental: none should coincide with the seam of the bottom row. Only in this way will the brick wall be strong enough. Where required according to the scheme, the bricks are cut: halves and even quarters are used.

In the 11th row, the middle wall is no longer placed, but metal strips are again placed on top: the next row, which covers the utility compartment, will rest on them. The 12th row is slightly larger than all those located below: everything goes smoothly along the back wall, and the bricks protrude about 3 cm in front.

The 13th row is also laid out solid. A brazier will be installed on it. In size, it is still slightly larger than the previous one.

The next rows form a "hot" zone - a fire will burn here. This zone is smaller in size than all the underlying rows. To make it more resistant to fire, it is lined with fireclay bricks placed on the narrow side. In size, it does not match the ceramic and the height of the rows and the seams will be different. Ignore it by laying it out regardless of ceramic. Just follow the alternation, as indicated in the diagrams.

In the 21st row, a steel corner is laid. Can be used in black or of stainless steel 3-4 mm thick. Corner dimensions 40*40 mm or 50*50 mm. Length - from the middle of the brick on the right to the middle of what is on the left. The front wall of the chimney will rest on this corner.

In the 22nd row, there is also fireclay brick, and the front wall of the chimney appears, resting on the corner. In size, this row is larger than the previous ones: in front, the bricks hang over the corner by 3 cm. The next row becomes even wider, and then there is a gradual decrease. Row by row the smoke channel becomes narrower. By the 30th row, a pipe is formed. It rises above the roof of the gazebo by at least 50 cm. During its construction, alternately alternate the 30th and 31st rows. ON this do-it-yourself brick brazier can be considered built. Now you need to dry it without fire for 5-7 days, and then gradually heat it for several days, evaporating the water from the masonry.

Brick brazier laying: another project

Another version of the barbecue grill made of bricks in the gazebo is presented in the video. There are no explanations, but everything is clear enough and there are no difficulties in this project. Perhaps it is worth saying that starting from 52 seconds 4 sawn bricks are laid. Their front upper part is cut off at an angle of 45°. In the video, the sawn parts have a lighter shade.

Also in the second minute (1:35) the arch is being formed. It is easier to do this if you cut and fix a drywall template, and lay bricks on it.

Brazier with a cauldron made of bricks

Another version of the barbecue, but more complex: under a cauldron with a stove. The video instruction is detailed, there are explanations in the frame from the author.

Brick corner brazier

Sometimes you need to fit a brick manga into a corner. For this, there is a special form of firebox, although no one bothers to make one of the options proposed earlier, and to attach an economic surface at an angle. One of the brick corner barbecues is laid out in the order below. This is already quite a serious job, with doors, valves and other attributes of the furnace business.

It seems that building a brick brazier with a stove with your own hands is too complicated and costly, and only professionals can handle it. But such work really do it yourself.

Just be patient enough to get everything necessary materials and with due diligence get to work.

A good barbecue grill will not only be a good decoration for a summer residence, but will also be an excellent occasion to gather the whole family, relatives and friends under one roof.

In addition, food cooked outdoors always tastier and eliminates the need to stand in a stuffy kitchen during the hot summer.

Why build a brick oven with your own hands?

Such an oven is ideal not only for cooking barbecue, it is possible to cook in it, in principle, any dishes for which there is only enough imagination.

Stew vegetables, fry pasties, cook jam, and if you buy a cauldron, you can enjoy delicious pilaf. Brick brazier looks much more effective portable.

Especially if it is a brazier with an oven, to which there is a place for preparing and cutting food. And having built a shelter over the building, you will comfortably use it in bad weather.

Advantages and disadvantages

The undoubted advantage is that brick barbecues practically eternal. Having built such a furnace, you will use it for as long as you like. In addition, the possibility boast of brick oven-barbecue in front of their guests, will also be by no means superfluous. You can solve the problem with sudden rain by attaching a canopy.

The roof will ideally complement the brick barbecue oven (see photos of closed buildings at the end of the article). The disadvantages include the fact that the cost of such barbecues a lot more than portable metal ones, and if built incorrectly, they can be completely useless.

Construction planning

Where will there be a stove with a barbecue made of bricks. We prepare the place with our own hands

Construction must be carried out in the open well ventilated area and away from flammable objects. It is also recommended to equip this place with some kind of shelter to protect the stove from the weather. Additional Convenience provide a small gazebo in which guests could gather.

ATTENTION! Ask your neighbors in advance if they will be bothered by stove smoke. To do this, light a fire at the construction site and make sure that the smoke will not cause inconvenience to anyone.

Additional outbuildings

The brazier can have: a cauldron, an oven, a smokehouse, a hearth with a grill, a tandoor, a cooking oven.

You can build a brazier with a brick oven, complement the building with a smokehouse or work area. The number of buildings is limited only by the free space on the site.

Design

Any brazier begins with a project. If you do not have a technical education, then it is better to order a layout from professional builders, or use one of our projects (see photos and orders below). But you can make the order yourself, following the basic rules:

  • combustion chamber build high four rows of masonry;
  • three rows of masonry on the grill;
  • fireplace - in six rows of masonry;
  • casing - three rows of masonry in height.

If you are not sure whether you can do the ordering yourself, it is better to turn to specialists for this matter. Incorrect design can significantly degrade the quality of the furnace.

Site preparation

If the place for construction is not concreted or, for example, not lined with stone, then you will have to prepare the site under the grill First of all, clean up the debris and put away upper layer soil. Required area at least three square meters .

REFERENCE! If the brazier will not stand under a canopy, then it is advisable to build not on clay, but on cement mortar, adding salt to it, in the ratio: 1 kilogram of salt per bucket of solution.

Foundation laying

Starting the construction of a barbecue oven is required with the installation of the foundation. The dimensions depend on the area of \u200b\u200bthe building, and the depth on the density of the soil. The lower the density, the deeper the foundation becomes. Reinforce better steel pins or wire.

The width of the pit should be greater than the furnace itself by 10 centimeters. Dig depth of about 30 centimeters. If there is a lot of sand in the soil, then dig a shallow pit, and before pouring the foundation, formwork must be installed.

If the earth is clayey, then concrete for the foundation can be poured immediately without preparation.

After installing wooden formwork, cover the bottom with sand and gravel, tamping and watering the surface. After that, pour the solution.

foundation through 10-15 days will gain its strength, and then it will be possible to proceed to masonry. But before that, it is better to provide the building with waterproofing. For waterproofing suitable, for example, a sheet of roofing material.

Any other materials that will be able to retain the same heat inside the brazier are used here. Put a layer of brickwork on top and pour everything with cement. Now you can proceed to the construction of the barbecue oven.

REFERENCE! If you live in a rainy area, it is better to use a brick platform instead of a foundation pit. This will help reduce the effect of excess moisture on the oven.

Construction of a brazier with an oven

After receiving the construction plan, or having completed it with your own hands, you must proceed to the construction of a brick brazier with a stove. Construction should be carried out with due care and accuracy. Since improper and poor-quality construction can ruin the entire structure, and will cost wasted time and money.

When laying bricks, help can serve wooden frame, which you want to install at the beginning, to obtain uniform walls of the brazier. It is desirable to use clay in the masonry mortar. Can be used instead of clay special dry mixes. Use a metal corner to cover the oven openings. If you decide to use old brick for construction, then do not forget about pre-treatment from dried old cement.

Spread out the hearth from fireclay brick, because of its fire resistance. Walls and cladding can be made of ordinary ceramic bricks. The solution for the barbecue oven is made from cement, sand and clay. For a firebox made of fireclay bricks, a solution is used without the addition of cement in the proportion: three parts sand to one part clay. Bricks before laying desirable soak in water. This will provide a stronger grip.

Before starting construction, carefully calculate the location of the brickwork and make sure that there is enough free space around it.

Scheme of laying a barbecue with a stove

  1. Lay out the first two continuous rows bricks in the form of a rectangle or in the form provided for in the layout. not forgetting align corners, and remove excess mortar not to spoil appearance braziers. In order for the rows to come out even, use a plumb line.
  2. To the third level install the ash door of the stove.
  3. Fourth also laid out solid.
  4. In the fifth row close the ash door of the stove with a lock and install the grate.
  5. in the sixth lay out the bricks without gaps.
  6. in the seventh you can already install the firebox door.
  7. in the eighth and the ninth bricks should be laid in a continuous layer.
  8. From the tenth level usually start building furnace chimney.
  9. in the eleventh block the opening of the firebox door.
  10. In the twelfth already do hob and hearth.
  11. From the fourteenth row proceed to the construction of the chimney channel and construct side walls braziers and back wall.
  12. twenty one to twenty three created semicircular hearth cover. Here to give a brick correct form, his will have to cut with a grinder.
  13. Twenty-four to thirty-one bricks must be laid out in a continuous layer.
  14. Somewhere at twenty six bring out the smoke channel in a row.
  15. Already at thirty-two pipe can be installed. The cap over the pipe is usually laid out from the same materials from which the furnace was also built.

For greater comfort of using the barbecue, you should take into account some of the nuances of its construction. For example, when calculating the width of the brazier, you need to take into account the length of the skewers.

PECULIARITIES! When heated, the metal tends to expand, so do not forget to leave a small gap when installing a metal door. The height of the oven should correspond to your height for greater comfort when working with it.

Fire safety

Do not forget that the barbecue is extremely fire hazardous structures. Failure to comply with safety precautions during careless operation of the brazier can lead to sad consequences.

Do not leave explosive objects nearby. Construction should not be carried out near wooden objects, trees. Install awnings or other shelters with care to avoid the possibility of fire.

Important! Under no circumstances should flammable materials be placed on or near an operating stove.

Knowledge and use of the most important safety fundamentals will eliminate the possibility of unexpected results.

In our guide, we will tell you how to make a barbecue outdoor complex and a brick barbecue oven yourself. Step-by-step instructions with a photo of the construction process will help you understand the details of the self-laying of this structure.

As a result, you should get a barbecue grill as shown in the photo below.

So, you have decided on the type of barbecue, its size and location. Now you need to build a foundation for it.

Usually such buildings are made on the street, in a gazebo or on a terrace. If the foundation of the gazebo or terrace can withstand the weight of a brick oven, which is about 3 tons, then you can start building immediately. If you are going to build a brazier from scratch, then first fill under it suitable foundation: tape or tiled.

Instructions for the construction of such foundations can be found in our section "".

The next step will be a waterproofing device for a brick barbecue. It is done to prevent the lower bricks from getting wet by capillary suction. It will be enough to lay a roll of roofing material or waterproofing. At the end of the construction, cut off the excess with a knife.

Do-it-yourself barbecue grill made of bricks. Step by step instructions with photos.

We proceed directly to the laying of the barbecue.

We recommend that you first lay out the first row of bricks without mortar and evaluate how your future structure fits into the foundation. Do not forget to leave 1 cm gaps between the bricks. Also check the diagonals, they must match.

After that, you can start laying barbecue. The front brick is placed on a cement-sand mortar (cement-sand ratio 1: 3). For the plasticity of the solution, lime or a special masonry plasticizer from the nearest hardware store. The seams are made in sizes of 8-10 mm, for this they use a metal rod, reinforcement, etc. In places where bricks adjoin without dressing, the masonry is reinforced with perforated tape, wire, etc.

We make laying with the displacement of each subsequent row by half a brick. For sawing bricks, you will need a grinder with a stone disc.

We continue to lay out the barbecue grill.

Do not forget to check the verticality of the masonry in the corners at least every 3 rows. And also, check the coincidence of the length of the diagonals of the brazier.

We continue laying.

After you make 8 rows of masonry, it's time to make jumpers for the barbecue and countertops. They should look like the photo below.

There are several ways to make such jumpers.

First, you can fasten the bricks with a metal stud and mortar.

Secondly, you can use metal corners.

In our case, we used the second method. We folded the corners with each other in the form of an inverted letter T and sawed off half of the shelf. Here's what happened.

Take a corner with a size of at least 45x45 mm. A smaller corner will sag. But do not take too big so that it does not protrude beyond the edges of the brick.

Make a slot in the brick with a good margin so that the metal does not tear the masonry when heated.

Such a shelf is not visible to the eye, reliable and beautiful.

We begin to lay out under (bottom) the brazier. We use refractory fireclay bricks for the firebox. We make laying on a ready-made refractory mixture from a building supermarket from clay and sand. Can be used mortar. We make the seams as thin as possible, about 3-4 mm.

We use corners to support the bottom of the brazier. Remember to leave at least 1 cm gap between the ends of the corners and the brick. So you save the masonry from cracking when expanding the corner.

On the first row of the bottom of the firebox we put the second row, overlapping all the seams of the first. This will prevent the seams from burning through and coal from getting on the firewood in the firewood from below. You can, of course, pour concrete slab instead of corners and the first row of the firebox. But in our case it was cheaper and faster to do so.

If you fill concrete floor, then one row of refractory bricks is enough for the bottom of the firebox.

We continue to lay out the walls of the barbecue.

The laying of the front brick and the firebox can be done both in parallel and alternately. You can first make the walls of the firebox, and then overlay it with a face brick.

Important! We leave a gap of 1 cm between the facing and refractory bricks. The firebox and lining should not touch.

We put the next rows of barbecue ovens.

We approach the moment of construction of the furnace arch. We make a circle (an arc structure made of wood) and install a brazier in the portal. Then, we carry out the laying of the arch, cutting the bricks to the right sizes. In the middle of the upper point we put a brick castle. The arch is ready.

Note! The front brick arch is covered from the inside with a fireclay brick lintel. It is placed on a metal corner a little higher than the top of the arch so that it is not noticeable. It looks like this.

The arch is assembled, we continue to display the walls of the barbecue grill.

Do not forget to check the verticality of the masonry.

We are approaching the moment of construction of the smoke box.

We bring the top of the firebox and lining to the same level and begin to lay out the smoke box. We make masonry from solid bricks of a brand not lower than M150. We put on a cement-sand mortar. We put the first row flush with the inner wall of the firebox. The remaining rows are laid with an offset of about a third of the brick.

Don't move the bricks more than half way or they will fall into the firebox.

We carry out the laying of the smoke box until the moment when there is no hole for the chimney measuring 27x27 cm, taking into account the seams. Your chimney size may differ from ours. In this case, make a flue according to the dimensions of your chimney.

Some stove-setters cut off the inner edges of the bricks so that the inside of the smoke box is smooth. We same differences in operation between smooth and ribbed inner surface smoke collector was not noticed. Of course, this is only true if you observed the correct proportions between the dimensions of the portal - the smoke box - the pipe (read about the proportions below).

This is what the smoke box looks like without cut bricks from the inside.

We continue laying pipes. Its dimensions depend on the size of your barbecue grill portal.

After finishing the laying of the chimney, we cover it with a cap to protect the firebox from precipitation.

We successfully built a brazier, which is also a barbecue oven made of bricks with our own hands! Wait until the solution dries and you can do a test run.

Here we will analyze the most frequently asked questions about laying a brick brazier (grill) with our own hands and the answers to them.

What size should the smoke box be?

The size of the smoke box depends on the size of the furnace portal. The optimal ratio should be at least 100-120%. So in our step by step instructions the height of the portal is 6 rows, and the height of the smoke box is 8 rows.

What is the height of the pipe?

The height of the pipe is proportional to the height of the smoke collector and is not less than 100-120% of its height.

What diameter should the chimney be?

The cross section of the chimney pipe depends on the area of the furnace portal. Optimal area chimney 1/8 - 1/10 of the portal area. Extreme sizes from 1/6 to 1/13.

How to fill the gap between the firebox and the cladding?

In front, around the portal, you can fill the gap with basalt cardboard. The rest of the space does not make sense to fill. Therefore, it is left empty.
