Drawings for the manufacture of jigsaw machines with their own hands. Do-it-yourself jigsaw machine - drawings and video details Drawings of homemade electric jigsaws

A very nimble and compact enough tool, it can be incredibly useful for cutting straight and curly shapes. Appearance and the functionality of the sold jigsaws is impressive, making you believe in the incredible complexity of the design of these devices. In fact, to recreate such a mechanism, it is enough to understand the principle of its operation, have instructions and a desire to do something with your own hands. It is not necessary to be an expert in technology with years of experience(although this quality will not be superfluous). Next, we will conduct a detailed analysis of the average jigsaw model with drawings, and provide two detailed guides for the manufacture of such an instrument.

How an electric jigsaw works

Although the jigsaw device is not particularly complex, its mechanism has certain features that require familiarization. To understand how to make a jigsaw, you must first understand what makes the saw blade reciprocate. For the most clear idea of the principle of operation of the device, we will present the main components that make up the mechanism of the tool and describe their interaction with each other.

At the heart of any electric jigsaw are the following components: an electric motor, a gearbox and a rod with a saw blade clamp. Secondary but no less important elements include the start button, the support roller, the cooling fan and the soleplate. As additional functionality, many models have a pendulum stroke, a dust collector, a backlight and a laser guide. We will not touch on the principle of operation of the latter, and proceed to a description of the interaction of the main elements of the mechanism.

The high-frequency movements of the jigsaw saw blade originate from the electric motor, which is started by pressing a button or directly from the mains. The rotation is transmitted along the shaft to a special “reducer” mechanism with an eccentric, which interacts with the rod, forming reciprocating movements. In the mount, installed at the end of the rod, the saw is fixed, making the cut. To minimize the load on the rod with the gearbox, the rear edge of the saw blade rests against the support roller. Thus, all components of the device are involved in order to perform main task for sawing all kinds of materials.

Drawings of electric balls

A detailed study of any device is much easier when there is detailed diagram with a description of each element. Thanks to the exact names of parts with dimensions, the general idea of the principle of operation of the mechanism becomes more visual. Below we have posted a few detailed illustrations, since it is much easier to assemble an electric jigsaw with detailed drawings than to rely only on your own idea of the design features.

We hope that the presented diagrams will completely clarify your understanding of the structure of such a mechanism and give healthy food for reflection in assembling your own jigsaw.

Making a jigsaw with your own hands

For a craftsman who understands the principle of operation of any mechanism, it will not be great work reproduce it, especially if you have detailed instructions on hand. The bicycle has already been invented, and to make it yourself, it is enough to have a set necessary details and tools. The guide below will demonstrate in detail how to make a jigsaw with a complete listing of the elements and tools required for the job. The created product is not a stationary device, but a mobile saw with an electric drive. The power in the device is not so much, but enough to cut wood, up to 5 mm thick.

Required materials:

  • Wooden block - 150x75x25 and 75x25x25 (width, height, thickness in mm)
  • Metal plates - long and rectangular (as in the photo)
  • Electric jigsaw file with U-shank
  • Electric motor RS-540 12V (you can use any similar one)
  • Electric circuit closing button
  • Nozzle gas stove
  • Bicycle spoke
  • Plastic circle with a diameter of 260 mm
  • Plywood - 120x50x5
  • Set of screws, bolts and nuts
By instruments:
  • Hacksaw for metal
  • triangular file
  • Pliers (2 pcs)
  • Screwdriver or drill with a set of drills
  • Metal shears
  • Pencil
When collecting materials, it is important to understand that the above components do not claim absolute accuracy and can be replaced with similar ones. When making a homemade jigsaw for sawing, you should focus on the presented manual, but do not forget about ingenuity and improvisation. If the specified element cannot be found, it can always be replaced with something.

The assembly of the jigsaw will begin with sawing out the handle from a larger bar. To do this, it is enough to cut, giving a rectangular board L-shape as in the photo. The dimensions of the sawn part are set "by eye", based on the preferences and size of the operator's hand.

One of the most important nodes a device that serves as a movable rod and a saw blade retainer requires increased reliability. This element is made of a long metal strip, 1 mm thick. At the end, the outline of the file shank is outlined, after which a triangular file is filed to create a pressure plate. Part of the metal strip is bent with pliers along the contour of the shank, after which a file is installed in an impromptu mount and drilled through hole for additional fixation with a bolt.

The saw blade, fixed on the rod, must be connected to the device using a guide. This part is made of rectangular metal plates. With the help of pliers, we bend the center of the plate into a flat groove for the stem with side mounting lugs. To prevent abrasion of wood and facilitate the movement of the file, we apply a similar piece of metal to the front side of the prepared handle and twist it together with the groove. As a result, the following construction should be obtained.

At the end of the rod, carefully bend the metal until a kind of loop is obtained, into which the end of the lever of the crank mechanism will be inserted.

We fasten the previously sawn off wooden rectangle to the top. It will serve as a stand for the motor, creating additional space for mounting the crank elements.

The transformation of engine rotations into reciprocating movements will occur using an elementary mechanism made of a round plate, a gas nozzle and a weight-bearing spoke. In the center of the circle, we drill a hole with a diameter equal to the threaded part of the nozzle (so that it fits as tightly as possible). Next, install the nozzle in place and fix with epoxy resin. We put the dried structure on the motor shaft. If the nozzle hole is too narrow, you can expand it with a drill of the required diameter. Between the center and the edge of the circle, we drill another small hole with the diameter of a bicycle spoke.

Unfortunately, not everywhere you can find an upgraded gas stove nozzle with a side screw used in the instructions. If only an ordinary one is available, it can be fixed on the shaft with a tin and a soldering iron, as in the photo below.

Having combined the engine with a round plate, it's time to turn it into a real crank. To do this, we take a bicycle knitting needle and bite off the bent hat and the threaded part with pliers to get an even metal rod. Next, we retreat from one end 10 mm, and bend at an angle of 90 °. We insert the bent part into the previously prepared eyelet in the stem and lift it up so that the screw for fixing the file rests against the metal plate.

The accuracy of the next step is most important, since the amplitude of the movement of the saw blade depends on it. It is necessary to determine the exact place for making the second bend of the rod so that the crank and rod connected by it work most efficiently. To do this, we put the engine in place of the future mounting and place the extreme hole of the circle up. Next, we bring a rod to the hole, the opposite edge of which is inserted into the eye of the rod raised to the stop and mark the place of the bend. We make a bend at an angle of 90 °, insert it into the hole of the circle and check the operation of the mechanism. If the crank works as it should, fix the motor in place with a metal plate.

The next structural element will be the sole, which also acts as a support for the saw blade. You can make a similar part from ordinary plywood, 5 mm thick. In the center of one of the ends, we make a small cut (20-30 mm) and pass the file of our jigsaw into it. We fix with a self-tapping screw with a countersunk head.

The final step is to install the start button and connect the wires. The button can be displayed in any place convenient for you. The author considered it necessary to put it on hot glue in the corner of the handle. We create an elementary electrical circuit(motor-button-network and motor-network) and connect to a 12 volt power supply.

For smoother running, it is recommended to lubricate the stem with oil.

A more visual demonstration of this instruction, but unfortunately without comments, can be viewed in the video below.

Homemade jigsaw for polystyrene

Assembly of a fairly convenient and reliable device for cutting thin wooden blanks and polystyrene. This method is almost similar to the previous one, but has a more functional design. It is not necessary to compile a detailed description of how to make this electric jigsaw with your own hands, since the design of the device is similar to the previous assembly. We will bring full list necessary materials and tools for manufacturing.
  • Plywood 200x200x5 mm
  • Wooden block - 120x50x50
  • Spatula or sheet of metal, 1 mm thick
  • Metal terminal for connecting wires
  • Metal rod (spoke)
  • Hacksaw blade
  • Electric motor (DC) at 12 volts
  • A piece of thin, flexible plastic
  • Mounting metal corner
  • A piece of PVC pipe as a handle
  • Contact closure button
  • 12 volt power supply with DC plug
  • DC power connector
  • Self-tapping screws, bolts and nuts
The above list of materials is only a subjective choice of the author of the instructions and does not claim to be absolute accuracy. When you do something with your own hands, you need to improvise and come up with non-standard applications. various details. If you do not have any element available, perhaps another one can handle its function.

By instruments:

  • File (file)
  • Metal shears
  • pliers
  • Drill or screwdriver with a set of drill bits
  • Core drill for wood with a diameter of 44 mm
  • soldering iron
  • Thermal gun
To more clearly understand the process of assembling all of the above items, see detailed video“how to make a jigsaw with your own hands”. Most of the questions related to the design of the device will disappear by themselves.

Also, there is another option for making a homemade jigsaw. The principle of operation of this product is similar to the previous two, there are some nuances in the design. We hope that the following video will be useful and give you fresh ideas for creating your instrument.

Sawing small pieces of wood is done with a jigsaw. The device is small and usually has an electric drive. Factory models differ in their characteristics and cost. With small volumes of wood processing, it makes sense to make a jigsaw machine on your own, from improvised means. This requires a few factory parts.

A factory-made jigsaw is a reliable device, the operation of which is guaranteed by the manufacturer. Manual models are low cost. Stationary devices are expensive, but provide proper comfort when processing wood. The set of components in the device is largely the same for everyone.

The design consists of the following parts:

The part to be processed is placed on the desktop. The size of the workpiece depends on its size. Some models have Rotary table, which makes it easier to work with the part - visibility improves. The presence of graduation facilitates the marking of the material.

Average characteristics of factory machines:

Special purpose models may have radically different characteristics. There are no specifications large sizes, for processing small parts. As well as models of large sizes, the industry also produces for retail sale. But such options will differ in high cost.

In the middle class, there is high competition for the consumer, so the devices will be cheaper. Characteristics are also sharpened for typical carpenter tasks. Based on them, you need to make drawings of a jigsaw machine with your own hands. Complex components for it are purchased at the store.

Experts classify jigsaws by type of construction. Features of the execution of the mechanism determine the possibility of processing wooden products.

Classification is carried out depending on the design of jigsaws.

Device types:

  • With bottom support.
  • Double caliper.
  • On a pendant.
  • With degree scale and stop.
  • Universal.

Models with a lower caliper are most widely used. The bed of the desktop factory device has 2 halves - the lower and the upper. The sawing and chipping model is located on the top of the bed.

The bottom frame contains a controller, an electric motor, a main gear, an on/off button. Such a machine allows you to work with any materials and any size.

The presence of two calipers in the jigsaw is beneficial in that the upper half of the frame has an additional rail. This jigsaw is ideal for cutting small parts. The thickness of the workpieces on both models should not exceed 8 cm. The desktop of such machines, as a rule, has the ability to adjust in height and angle of inclination.

Suspended devices do not have a fixed frame, but are distinguished by their mobility. The processed material is fixed, and the master moves the working module. since the latter is attached to the ceiling, the thickness of the material is not limited. The tool is moved manually, regardless of the bed. This allows you to make patterns of complex shapes.

The presence of a scale of degrees and stops is suitable for those craftsmen who do the processing according to the drawings. The markup allows you to avoid errors during operation. There are universal machine models on the market that allow you to do several operations. Such a machine allows drilling, cutting, polishing and grinding. The cost of such devices will be much higher, but it is more comfortable to work with them. These are industrial examples.

Designs and drawings of options presented on the web homemade jigsaw are different. Blame the imagination of the authors and the desire to make a device that will stand out from the rest. Only the concept is the same in most cases - they take a manual electric jigsaw as a basis and repurpose it.

Home woodworking lovers often look for information on how to make a jigsaw with their own hands without special skills. You can use a ready-made manual jigsaw as a base. The mechanism does not require careful refinement. The factory manual device is the drive. But the crank mechanism will have to be developed independently. Manufacturers are trying to offer the consumer a platform for quick rework, but personal needs can only be satisfied with their own product.

Assembly order:

  1. Make a base table. A sheet of metal is taken as a material and a hole is made in it. The shape is oblong, 3-4 times wider than the saw blade. Holes for fasteners are made side by side.
  2. A factory device is fixed at the bottom of the support table. Holes for fasteners are made next to the hole for the saw blade. Screws with a countersunk head are used as fasteners. This is necessary in order to ensure a perfectly flat plane of the table. Otherwise, the processed products will cling to the hats of the wines, which will cause inconvenience in work.
  3. The design is fixed on a wooden table.

The advantage of creating a do-it-yourself jigsaw machine is that the factory tool can be detached at any time. When necessary - in the hands of an ordinary manual jigsaw. Therefore, it is better to buy manual version a tool that can be used on a homemade machine is cheaper that way. Stationary devices are expensive.

Comfortable work with wooden products can be ensured by installing guide rails on a homemade support table. Additionally, markings are applied to the table, which makes it easier to measure the distance on the parts during processing.

jigsaw manual type as the main device for the machine has disadvantages. The main problem is the file - it is too wide in manual models. Because of this fine work it is difficult to perform it on a tree - the curvature of the lines is limited.

The previous design is simple and does not have additional details that make it easier to work with wood. The direction of modernization is the possibility of replacing the file with a thin one.

Options for improving the design:

  1. Build a rocker. The structure will be tensioned by springs on one side. The second side of the rocker is fixed on the file.
  2. Fix the file between two rollers. They serve as guides for a thin file.
  3. A stationary factory device is used as a drive system of two rocker arms. Between the latter, a file is pulled. The movement is transmitted from the factory device to the lower rocker of the file.

design upon purchase or self-manufacturing you have to choose based on personal preferences and the desire to poke around in technology. The use of guide rollers is a less popular option - its reliability is lame.

Modernization by installing rocker arms is common. It is better that at the same time the factory device serves only as a drive for sawing a jigsaw. To do this, turn off the pendulum stroke in the tool.

The heir to the property of grandparents often gets the old sewing machine. She has already served her purpose in tailoring, as more precise equipment is now being produced. In the absence of a jigsaw in the household, you can not spend money on its purchase. It is made by hand from a sewing machine.

Procedure:

Now the jigsaw for figured cutting on plywood is ready. WITH manual drive will work harder, because the legs will get tired. An additional disadvantage will serve as vibrations from the force impact on the tool. The electric drive of the machine, converted into a jigsaw, partially solves the problems of vibrations.

An expensive jigsaw can be replaced with a design own production. It will not be inferior to anything in terms of its qualities and functionality, if you take a responsible approach to the assembly process. It is important to make high-quality plywood mechanisms that serve as a support table. It is desirable that the table be able to rotate. For the option with a sewing machine, this will not be possible. If desired, markings are applied to the table to make it easier to measure the details in the process.

A desktop jigsaw is useful for every craftsman who cuts out thin details. However, it is far from always possible and meaningful to acquire a full-fledged machine. In this case, get down to business and do it yourself!

The device of the jigsaw machine - what lies inside?

Jigsaw machines are more about special tools than about devices that are needed as experienced master, and the amateur hosting in the garage. Their purpose is reduced to a special task, namely, cutting out complex curvilinear contours from sheet materials. A special “chip” of such machines can also be attributed to the execution of the cut without violating the integrity of the external contour. Most often, sawing occurs on wood and derived materials (plywood, chipboard, fiberboard), although modern machines equipped with appropriate nail files are able to work with other materials, such as plastic or drywall.

Such equipment has found application in the music industry (manufacturing musical instruments) and, of course, in furniture. They buy such units and lovers of tinkering in their own workshop. The device of a traditional jigsaw machine, designed in accordance with all the rules, is as follows: the working surface on which the saw is placed hides the drive (electric motor) and the crank structure underneath. The tension mechanism can be located both below and above the machine.

To process a part, it must be placed on the desktop. Many models have the ability to rotate it at different angles to make bevel cuts. Stops and guides on the surface, as well as rotary mechanism can have markup, which greatly simplifies and speeds up the work. It is the length of the cut that depends on the length of the desktop - most models are limited to 30-40 cm. The power of the electric motor is an important, but still far from the most fundamental factor, since the machine has a huge margin of unclaimed power. For example, for a home workshop or even a small production, a “engine” of only 150 watts is enough.

Crank mechanism - much more important detail, because in this case it depends on it the quality of the transfer of the torque of the drive into the forward-return motion directed to vertical plane by means of a saw.

Standard jigsaw machines are considered devices with a range of motion in the region of 3-5 cm at an oscillation frequency of up to 1000 per minute. In many models, a change in speed mode is provided for different materials. The jigsaw itself is usually made up to 35 cm long and is able to cut material up to 10 cm thick. The width of the files can vary in a fairly wide range - from very thin two-millimeter to coarser ten-millimeter, with a thickness of 0.6 mm to 1.25 mm.

Even the thickest and widest nail file will easily break if you do not provide sufficient tension along the entire length of the nail file. For this, spring and helical springs are used. Quite often, such machines are equipped with an air pump, which cleans the cut from sawdust by blowing, as well as a drilling unit. The last device is especially useful, because in this case, the master does not need to be distracted by the connection electric drill and drilling holes - everything happens on the working plane of the machine. Of course, you have to pay for convenience!

How to make a jigsaw machine with your own hands from a manual jigsaw?

On the web you will find many different designs homemade machines, but most of them come down to reprofiling into this machine. Using your ingenuity and watching the video, you can easily make a homemade jigsaw machine from this tool. You only need to modify the jigsaw a little. In fact, it plays the role of a machine tool drive and a crank mechanism, the rest needs to be thought out and implemented.

Of course, manufacturers are trying to please consumers in this area as well, offering their own platform options for quick and convenient rework, however, in reality, only you can make an apparatus that meets your needs. So, the first step is to make a support table, for which they most often use sheet metal. In it you need to make a slanted oblong hole for the saw blade and holes for fasteners (countersunk screws are recommended), and attach the jigsaw to the bottom of the support table.

This design remains only to strengthen on wooden table. You can go beyond this and install guide rails. The convenience of such an apparatus lies in the fact that in addition to performing functions that are not entirely inherent in it, you can always disconnect the drive and with a flick of the wrist turn it back into a manual electric jigsaw! If you constantly need this tool for work, it makes sense specifically for the machine - it will be cheaper than spending money on a real machine.

Advantages and disadvantages - we continue to modify!

But such an assembly inherits not only the advantages of the tool, but also its disadvantages, in particular, a nail file that is too wide for filigree work, which significantly limits the curvature of the lines. If there is a need for this, there is a way out. So far, our machine differs from the classic jigsaw unit by the absence of springs that would provide sufficient tension for the nail file. But to build a simple rocker, which on the one hand will be under the tension of the springs, and on the other hand fixed on a nail file, is quite easy.

There is another option - to clamp the nail file between two guide rollers, but the first option is still more reliable. Remember to turn off the pendulum motion on the jigsaw before you start using it. homemade machine. There is another design - if your tool is powerful enough, then it can only serve as a drive in a design of two rocker arms, between which a nail file is stretched. The movement is transmitted by means of a nail file fixed on the lower rocker arm.

Machine from a sewing machine - we give a second life to old tools!

If you inherited a foot or hand sewing machine from your grandmother or mother, consider yourself the owner of an excellent jigsaw! Of course, for this you need to “conjure” a little over the machine. First, remove the thread weaving device, which is usually located at the bottom of the machine. There is nothing complicated in this, it is enough to unscrew the two bolts. Then we knock out the cotter pin and remove the drive shaft leading to the thread weaving mechanism.

Having unscrewed the top panel that protects the mechanisms, it is necessary to expand the slot in which the needle went. Focus on the needs and width of the nail file that you will use in your work. Jigsaw blades of this kind also need to be slightly modified, namely cut to the maximum length of the needle that could be used on this machine. After grinding off the upper teeth and sharpening the lower part on the point, you just have to insert the nail file into the needle holder and test your machine in action!

Manual power tool very popular both among amateurs and in the environment professionals due to their obvious merit, namely:

  • comparatively cheap and availability;
  • compactness;
  • mobility.

Reverse side of these unconditional advantages is the presence of such shortcomings, How:

  • relatively small time of continuous work;
  • small achievable accuracy;
  • insufficient processing quality.

Obviously, these shortcomings are devoid of professional stationary solutions - machine tools and machines on massive beds. They are, as a result, sufficient not cheap but the main thing is that they need to be placed somewhere. But what if there is no way to equip workshop, but want to improve quality works? This question is asked by many of those who are passionate about a serious hobby, and even just beginners. masters.

In our article we will talk about decision, addressing known deficiencies manual jigsaw.

Benefits of a desktop jigsaw

The general flaws hand power tools are fully inherent and jigsaw.

Its main advantage is mobility - involves only manual movements and fixation tool. That is, in fact, it turns out that:

  1. Very hard to do smooth, a clear cut: the slightest extra movement - and a visible flaw appears in the cut line. Going in the kit guides do not save because of their insufficient rigidity;
  2. Corner inclination the saw blade in relation to the workpiece is actually not controlled in any way. And even in the simplest case of a straight cut, when the blade perpendicular the sole of the jigsaw, the result may disappoint. There are at least two reasons:
    • saw blade - elastic and can bend during the cutting process, the free edge of the file is not limited by anything;
    • On affordable (read - cheap) models, it is quite often perfect direct the angle between the file and the sole is difficult reach by virtue of the very design of cheap stamped grounds.

Interesting Mark, what, say, American craftsmen use manual electric jigsaw is quite rare. For example, when needed cut opening in the kitchen worktop for installation sinks. In other cases, they prefer to use stationary band saws of various sizes. Such saws are completely devoid of some shortcomings (which are mentioned above), and are fully endowed with others: dimensions, weight and ... price.

Summarizing the foregoing, it is safe to conclude that, in some way fixing jigsaw on the desktop, you can to a certain extent win some of its shortcomings. And if you foresee guides free edge rollers canvases files, you can get a completely even cut. And clean - correct selection the saw itself.

Therefore, special jigsaw table significantly improve the quality of work with this tool.

Of course, you should not think that in this way you can get full tape saw. But more on that later, now - briefly about what will be needed for manufacturing.

Materials and tools

materials can be used from those that are at hand. I would like to point out that the working surface("tabletop") must be flat and sufficiently tough, Therefore, when choosing a material, you need to keep in mind the following points:

  • Can be used plywood however, thin (less than 12 mm) plywood is susceptible to warping, and not the fact that the existing piece will be fairly even.
    Waterproof is preferred laminated("formwork") plywood thickness from 12 mm.
  • If we talk about (particle boards), then in general case the thicker they are, the better - the more rigid. Ideally, a piece quality laminated kitchen countertops or "postforming".
    Of the minuses - less reliability mounts to her tool, you need to take a more responsible approach to the choice of fasteners.
    From pluses, perhaps the main one is accessibility and simplicity: you can order all set parts according to their size in any furniture workshop. Thickness it is better to take not the standard 16 mm, but more (for example, 22 mm).
  • Metal it fits almost perfectly in properties, but in everyday life it is quite difficult to find a piece of suitable size, polished and even. In addition, making the necessary holes in it is somewhat more laborious, then it is reasonable to use drilling machine.

A set of necessary tool will depend on the choices materials, but in general approximate scroll something like this:

  • pencil, roulette or ruler, carpentry square - for marking;
  • square will also be useful at the stage final assembly and settings;
  • screwdrivers and nut keys according to the selected fastener;
  • screwdriver or drill, drills for fasteners, self-tapping screws (screws).

In addition, you will need rectangular metal bracket, two identical bearing and fixture. Actually myself jigsaw will also come in handy.

Manufacturing steps

Regardless of the material chosen necessary:

  • make base and connect to the work surface with holes for attaching the sole of the tool;
  • make a system brackets for the top guide file;
  • collect and adjust table.

Base and work surface

Dimensions grounds are chosen based on dimensions the existing jigsaw and are approximate.
Dimensions working surface also indicated tentatively, from the mounting side of the bracket mounted flush with the base, on the other three sides small ledge for ease of attachment snap(clamps, stops, etc.).

Device bracket with guide bearings is clear from the figure.
Sizes can be chosen individually, but something Necessarily must be kept in mind.

which limit the removal of the file to the side, you need pick up based on the size of the files that you plan to work with. Width the bearing itself (in the reference books it is indicated by the letter IN) must not be greater than the width files, so as not to dull her teeth.

So, for example, if width saw blades for metal (T123X, T118A) usually more than 5 mm, then they will be suitable bearings with dimension B 4–5 mm, e.g.:

Wherein prefer follows models with letters ZZ, 2RS as the most protected from exposure to dust, which will definitely be in the process of cutting.

Saw blades according to tree, on the contrary, they can be narrow (T244D about 3.5 mm) and very narrow (T119BO about 3 mm, which can be used in our case). As an option - bearing 100093 (aka 693, 3 x 8 x 3 mm).

Under the selected bearing is selected fixture: screws M3 or M4, nuts (better "self-locking" with kapron insert preventing spontaneous unscrewing).

Distance between axes bearings is also calculated based on the size of the files, the thickness canvases may be within from 0.9 to 1.7 mm.

For example, thickness blade T244D is 1.25 mm, and T123X, T118A is 1 mm. Rounding is best big side.

Assembly and adjustment

bracket can to fix in the following way

This method of fastening will allow adjust and the height of the guide bearings according to the length of the saw, and (using a square) perpendicularity the saw itself relative to the desktop.

As mentioned above, you should not flatter yourself - although this is no longer easy jigsaw, but still not a band saw yet. Here are some tips:

    • IN band saw movement of the saw blade occurs only in one direction - top down, due to which the workpiece is pressed against the table by cutting forces.
      It is possible to undermine the workpiece up, since the pendulum of the jigsaw makes and returnable movement.
      Therefore, the workpiece needs to be well press down to the working surface of the table and the most important thing is to feed (move) the workpiece as much as possible slower.

Note! More RPM and less pitch is much better than vice versa.

  • When working with a jigsaw (with or without a table), it is useful to remember that move jigsaw blades are usually of the order 15–20 mm, this value for your tool must be read in the instructions or determined by yourself. Material thicker than this value should only be sawn with divorce teeth. Otherwise shavings will not be completely removed, which is fraught with overheating and jamming of the web.
  • Between the work surface of the table and sole jigsaw can pave the sheet dense rubber, having previously made an incision for the file. Assemble the table and let the canvas work a little idle so that the canvas "gets used" to the slot in the rubber. This will protect moving knots of an inverted jigsaw from a large number sawdust, for which it is not designed, because in the normal mode, the designers of the tool clearly did not count on such a number of them.
  • Protective glasses - necessary. And it is also necessary to organize the inclusion of the device through pedal or provide another way instant turning off the tool. But that is a topic for another article.
  • Do not be afraid creatively think and improve their tools, because any idea - just a starting point for creativity, and universal solutions do not exist.

For more information on making a table for an electric jigsaw, see video:

The jigsaw is convenient and useful tool in the economy. Electric jigsaw greatly speeds up the work and expands the possibilities of using such a tool. But real quality can only be achieved by setting stationary device- jigsaw table.

Having turned hand tool in a small machine, you can create original creations from a variety of materials. Such a table allows you to make the most complex patterns and ornaments. The device, of course, will appeal to lovers of high-quality manual labor.

Features of an electric jigsaw

An electric jigsaw is a kind of saw with a reciprocating movement of the cutting element (blade), in which the rotational movement of the electric motor is converted into translational movement of the saw in the form of oscillatory movements with a frequency of up to 50 cycles per second. Such a jigsaw ensures the manufacture of cuts inside a flat sheet in any direction, incl. with a turn in an arc with a diameter of at least 3 cm. It can be used to cut many materials: chipboard, wood (up to 70 mm thick), a metal sheet(steel - up to 3 mm, copper, aluminum - up to 20 mm), tiles, plastic, natural and artificial stone.

Sawing of material is made at movement of a nail file upwards. In addition, the nail file is provided with transverse oscillation due to the presence pendulum mechanism. This improves the quality of straight lines when sawing. The tool provides for adjusting the speed of the nail file, which is important when cutting different materials.

So, when sawing in a tree, you can set the highest possible speed; when working with plastic or aluminum, use the medium speed range; for steel and tiles, the speed must be reduced to a minimum. A special mechanism allows for cutting when the file is inserted at an angle.

The file is fixed in the jigsaw with its shank, in which a slot is made ( the best option- the shape of the cross). The shank is fixed in the shoe with two screws. The design of the pressure pads (cartridges) for different electric jigsaws may be different. The saw blades themselves have different tooth shapes for different materials.

Features of the desktop jigsaw

The use of a manual jigsaw implies that the workpiece is fixed permanently, and sawing is carried out by manually moving the jigsaw. The quality of the cut in this case depends entirely on the “firmness of the hand” and the skills of the master: the accuracy of the line, the angle of introduction of the file, etc. The desktop jigsaw changes the picture of the process: the electric jigsaw is fixed permanently in a vertical position from the bottom of the table, and the workpiece moves along the table surface only guided by hands.

In this case, firstly, the process of sawing is physically facilitated; secondly, the quality of the cut is improved due to the strict verticality of the saw blade and the accuracy of moving the workpiece when using guides. In addition, the position of the saw blade in an upward direction reduces the risk of surface chipping at the borders of the cut. The file has a stable movement due to the use of mechanisms to ensure its tension and precise orientation. The jigsaw is securely mounted on a sufficiently massive and durable frame, which eliminates unwanted vibrations and movements of the tool.

In general desktop jigsaw represents stationary machine. Its design includes a table with an electric jigsaw fixed on it, as well as a system for guiding and tensioning the file and a system for fastening and guiding the workpiece. The simplicity of the design allows you to make a table with your own hands. The size of the table is selected based on the dimensions of the workpieces and parts to be processed. To install sheets of significant dimensions (for example, chipboard), additional extension systems may be provided.

The simplest design

The simplest table with your own hands can be made very quickly. Used as a work surface plywood sheet with a thickness of at least 10 mm and a size depending on the size of the workpiece being processed. For small blanks, it is enough to take a sheet measuring 50x50 cm. In the central part, retreating about 20-25 cm from the edge of the sheet, a hole with a diameter of 20-30 mm is drilled for sawing a jigsaw. From the bottom of the sheet, using the hole as the center, the fastening of the sole of the jigsaw is marked. If there are no holes on the sole of the jigsaw, then they must be drilled on drilling machine in the amount of 4 pieces and cut the thread M8-M10. According to the marks, four holes are drilled in the plywood sheet.

At the corners of the sheet, legs made of steel strips 3-4 mm thick and 30-40 mm wide are attached. The height of the legs is determined by the size of the body of the jigsaw (to the sole) with the addition of 2-3 cm. The planks of the legs at the bottom must be bent at a right angle outward and drilled 1-2 holes in them with a diameter of 6-8 mm for fastening. An electric jigsaw is attached to the bottom of the plywood sheet so that the saw blade comes out through the hole. A simple do-it-yourself table was made, which can be fixed to any surface (workbench, table, etc.) and work.

An even simpler design does not provide for legs, but is attached to the edge of the workbench on clamps (two on each side for strength). The jigsaw should be outside the workbench. Such a table with your own hands can easily cope with wooden blanks up to 3 cm thick.

A slight design complication

Can do a little more complex table with your own hands. For this, a bed is made of three panels. Chipboard thickness 12-15 mm (two sidewalls measuring 50x80 cm and a back panel measuring 70x80 cm). The design is assembled using a wooden block or furniture corners. At the bottom, it is advisable to make a reinforcing jumper from a wooden block. Ahead, the bed does not close to provide access to the start button.

The top panel made of plywood sheet 10-12 mm thick and 70x100 cm in size is completed with a jigsaw in the same way the simplest design. To eliminate vibrations of the saw blade during cutting, it is provided simplest system stabilization. The file is passed between two bearings with a diameter of 10-12 mm. The bearings are mounted on a steel strip bracket, which, in turn, is fixed to the tabletop. On the tabletop, you can install guides and limiting rails from a wooden block or aluminum profile. Fastening them to the edges of the tabletop is best done with clamps, which will make it possible to move them along the table. For precise movement on the ends of the tabletop, you can fix the scale from the tape measure.

Bar-based table

A more complex design involves the manufacture of a table from wooden beams. In this case, the table is assembled from a bar (legs from a bar 80x80 mm, jumpers from a bar 40x80 mm) with a thorn-groove joint.

To strengthen the structure, it is necessary to use carpentry glue, dowels and screws. The distance between the legs is 60-70 cm. The legs are reinforced with collets. Holes are drilled at the junction of the bars and collets and dowels are fixed. The height of the table is set by the manufacturer based on the ease of maintenance of the machine.

The table top is made from laminated plywood 18-20 mm thick, 90x90 cm in size. For the convenience of changing the file, the tabletop is made in a lifting version. To do this, it is attached to one of the collets of the table with the help of loops. It is more convenient to remove the file if it is cut from the hole to the edge of the countertop. This cut is recommended.

The jigsaw attachment system should be complicated to ensure its removal. The sole of the jigsaw is pressed against the tabletop with two wooden planks, on which a profile is made by sampling a quarter of the beam. The sole of the jigsaw enters this profile, like on skids. For its fastening, holes are drilled in the bar and clamping screws with a lamb are installed.
