Wall hung toilet installation. Hanging toilet with installation: how to choose, pros and cons, installation. How to install a wall hung toilet for installation

Installing blinds solves many window decor problems. Curtains, curtains, tulles, no matter what fabric they are made from, require frequent washing, as dust and dirt accumulate on them. The density of the curtains determines how well they let in or block light.

Blinds are much more convenient than curtains in many ways.

Depending on the angle at which the lamellas are located, they completely open the access of natural light to the room, partially block it, gently diffuse or completely isolate the room not only from light, but also from thermal radiation. They do not require special care, and installing blinds on your own is not difficult.

Varieties

Horizontal

A light-shielding design with a horizontal arrangement of slats that has become familiar, almost classic for window decoration.

Advantages:

  • Compactness. Are established directly on a window, leaving a window sill free. This saves space and allows you to place greenery on the window in favorable conditions for it;
  • Light weight design;
  • Strength and rigidity of the lamellas, preventing deformation;
  • fire safety;
  • Simple control mechanism;
  • Special coating or impregnation against dust, dirt, odors and grease;
  • Resistant to humidity and temperature extremes;
  • Miscellaneous materials for the manufacture of lamellas: wood, plastic, aluminum, less often fabrics;
  • Easy installation;
  • Affordable price.

It is worth mentioning some of the disadvantages:

  • When mounted on a frame, the angle of inclination of the window sashes when opening is limited;
  • The slats emit a characteristic knock or ringing in the wind. To avoid this, it is necessary to purchase lower fasteners, which are not included in the kit and quickly become unusable;
  • The design is subject to repair in case of severe deformation of several slats, but it will cost like new blinds;
  • Not suitable for balconies and loggias with sliding windows.

vertical

Distinguishes them from horizontal ones:

  • More aesthetic appearance. Horizontal blinds are more functional while vertical ones are decorative;
  • The ability to cover a large area with one cornice. Horizontal blinds are typically made up of narrow slats and are designed for minimalist décor. large windows. Vertical models have different widths and easily cover the area of large windows, arches and doorways.
  • Variety of materials. They can be made of wood fibers, wood, aluminum, bamboo, plastic, woven and non-woven fabric, mirror, blackout, filament. The abundance of materials provides another advantage - the variability of colors and textures;
  • Modern and original design windows that open up more design possibilities;
  • Simplicity of control mechanisms. Both mechanical and electrical are possible;
  • The ability to place photo printing on the "curtains" due to the larger surface and the best performance material;
  • Practicality. Larger lamellas are easier to clean if necessary, which does not occur often. If, in case of severe contamination, for example, in a children's room, the lamellas still need to be subjected to hygienic procedures, this will not take much time - they can be washed by hand and in washing machine;
  • Possibility of installation on non-standard windows (triangle, trapezoid, arch, bay window);
  • The structure is in need of repair. To replace a particular part, you do not need to call the master, it is simple enough to do it yourself. You can replace the slats one at a time without having to dismantle the entire structure.

Vertical blinds, as the name implies, are a simple and convenient light-shielding design, consisting of longitudinal vertical plates.

Rolled

Roller blinds, roller blinds are solid canvases, often made of textiles, but other materials are also possible, which, like horizontal blinds, roll up. The height can be adjusted by fixing the curtain with a weighting agent on the bottom bar of the canvas.

There are different types of roller shutters: with an open drum (for mounting directly on the window) and with a decorative cornice; "mini" for installation on each frame separately and "roll-cassette" for curtaining the entire window as a whole.

There is an opinion that roller blinds is the most budgetary practical option window decoration, but this is not entirely true. Of course roller shutters have their advantages: a variety of natural and synthetic fabrics, colors and patterns, ease of care (wet cleaning is allowed) and operation, the ability to fix the curtain at the desired height, special impregnations from dust, moisture, high temperatures and glare, compatibility with other types of curtains. It is convenient if necessary to hide the room from the sun, decorate the window with beautiful tulle so that it is not visible from the street what is happening inside.

But with so many advantages, they also have significant disadvantages.:

  • budget price- it's a delusion. Yes, by itself, a medium-sized curtain made of a common material will be inexpensive, but it will look boring. In order for the window design to be complete, it is necessary to think over additional decor, and this increases the cost at times;
  • Roller blinds in the bedroom, study and rooms with high windows need electrical control. Electric drive designs are expensive, and some manufacturers also produce noise;
  • Impossible make a custom-made curtain from a certain textile. You can choose only specific products of a specific brand, since the set of fabrics for the production of roller blinds is very limited: translucent, textured, reflective, perforated, blackout and that's all, perhaps;
  • Maximum Width roller blinds - 280-300 cm, that is, to cover a large area with one cornice, for example, panoramic window or the balcony will not work;
  • Can there will be problems with installation not on the wall, but in the window opening, since the bobbin is wider in width than the curtain itself. On the sides window openings gaps will inevitably remain. Ceiling or wall mount preferred.

Pleated

This type of blinds is similar to both horizontal and roller blinds. The design consists of a control mechanism (chain or electric drive), weights, pleated fabric, which resembles accordion furs.

The range of materials, colors and textures is very diverse.

Peculiarities:

  • They close from top to bottom, like classic canvases, from bottom to top or from both sides at the same time. At the same time, the degree of density of the "accordion" can be adjusted, thus closing either the upper, or lower, or central part of the window;
  • Suitable for window coverings irregular shape;
  • The optimal solution for dormers, attics, skylights and slanted windows;
  • “Opening”, the canvas is compactly folded and hidden inside the cornice;
  • Suitable for installation on all types of windows;
  • Various ways fastenings and control mechanisms (manual and electric);
  • The woven fabric is washable;
  • The curtain fabric can be made of two types of fabric at the same time, which makes it possible to adjust the degree of transparency, darkening, sun protection;
  • Easy installation can be done by hand.

Pleated types:

  • Classic. In appearance, they are most similar to horizontal blinds, but they can also be vertical. Made from fabric, paper or plastic. Designed for darkening the room, protection from heating by sunlight, zoning the interior space of the room.

  • Corrugated. This type is a vertical and horizontal double pleat. As a result, the folds look more even, neat and dense. Corrugated plastic and paper in this design absorbs a significant part of the heat and protects from bright light.

  • Inclined. A kind of pleated window, especially for windows that are located at an angle in the attic or ceiling. Their feature is in a specific assembly system, which does not allow the web of any material to sag when at an angle. Mostly inclined models are produced with electronic control.

  • Arched. The most flexible canvases that take any shape, like a paper fan. good decision for rooms with a non-standard shape of windows (arches, trapezoids, triangles, beveled windows).

  • "Day Night". The canvas of such blinds consists of two layers of fabric: lightweight, translucent a large number of light fabric for daytime use and dense, dark fabric for protection from the bright sun during the day and prying eyes in the evening.

Cassette

Such systems involve either the use of horizontal slats or a solid canvas, but are not horizontal blinds or roller blinds. They differ in the types of cassettes (angular, round, flat), controls ( different kinds mechanical and remote), the materials used (plastic, textiles, bamboo, aluminum).

Their main feature lies in the design, the special structure of which makes it possible to fix the blinds at a minimum distance from the window glass. This prevents deformation, sagging, the appearance of wrinkles and irregularities, and completely opens the window sill.

Advantages:

  • Compactness. Cassette blinds occupy a minimum of space, leaving the owners the opportunity to show imagination and organize additional window decor or leave the window sill as a functional surface;
  • Simple and clear type of control;
  • Long term services. Special impregnation protects the fabric from dust, grease, dirt, moisture, abrasion;
  • Ease of hygiene procedures. Cassette systems do not require special care. It is enough to wipe their small surface with a damp sponge with soapy water once every few months;
  • A variety of designs for the interior in any style;
  • The tight fit of the canvas to the glass surface protects equally well from heat and cold;
  • The ability to mount the system yourself;
  • A variety of materials - from light window decoration to total blackout protection;
  • The ability to combine blinds with curtains, tulle, lambrequin.

Mounting methods

There are three types of blinds fastening: to the wall, ceiling, directly on the frame, and two ways - with and without drilling.

The universal basis of any fastening is a cornice, which different ways mounts to a wall, frame or ceiling.

with drilling

It is carried out with the help of self-tapping screws, brackets on which the cornice is installed, fishing line. Additionally, you will need a pencil, ruler, drill, screwdriver.

First you need to make a markup in those places where the brackets will be located.

For reliability and accuracy in the marked places, it is necessary to drill holes for the clamps. Then, applying the brackets in turn to the PVC frame, fix them to the markup with a screwdriver. Next, a cornice is installed and the whole structure is assembled as a whole.

without drilling

If in the future it is planned to replace blinds or other window decoration options, it is not recommended to damage plastic windows. Holes from self-tapping screws will remain in the frame forever and significantly spoil the appearance of windows. In this case, it is easier to turn to a method that does not require drilling.

Brackets in this case are attached in two ways:

  • for the upper part of the PVC profile on the opening doors (you can just hang it like a hook);
  • on double-sided tape, which can be glued without fear of leaving marks.

A special approach requires fastening the blinds on the balcony. Important role playing here balcony design. The choice of these or those blinds and the method of their fastening depends on the type of glazing. In general, almost all options are available for balconies. Special attention at the same time, one should pay attention to the type of blinds, since not all of them are universal for different types windows. For example, horizontal blinds are not suitable for a balcony with sliding windows, as they can be deformed during operation or from strong winds.

Measurements and markings

The final result depends on how correctly the measurements are taken.

Even expensive beautiful models will not look good on the window if there are gaps in the opening or the edges of the lamellas constantly lift up against the wall.

It is important to pay attention to the following points:

  • For the most accurate indicators, a steel tape measure is used;
  • It is impossible to round the received figures, the accuracy must be observed to millimeters;
  • When ordering blinds, the width parameter is indicated first, the length - the second;
  • Not a single window opening has absolutely ideal geometric shapes, therefore, measurements up and down must be made at least at two points.

Horizontal

If you plan to mount the blinds on the movable half of the window, you will need to measure the gap between the glazing beads and add from 30 mm, which will prevent gaps in the structure. The height of the blinds is equal to the height of the window sash.

To install a window inside the opening, measurements are required at three points in height and width, since the openings are not always absolutely proportional.

The width is identical to the wide side of the glass plus the thickness of the rubber seal. The length is identical to the height of the window (including elastic bands) and a margin of 1cm. To install the eaves, you will need an additional 30-40 cm to the slopes and loops. The chain of command is 2/3 of the height of the window.

When choosing to fix the cornice to the wall, the width parameter increases by 10 cm, the height is measured from the point of attachment of the brackets to the floor arbitrarily.

vertical

When installing in the armhole of the window, you need to determine the width at the top of the arch and subtract 20 mm. To determine the height, compare the height of the left and right sides of the arch, subtract 1cm from the smaller value.

For wall mount at least 10 cm must be added to the wide side of the slope. The length of the slats can be any, but it is recommended to retreat 2 cm from the edge of the blinds to the floor.

Ceiling installation involves determining the height (to the floor or window sill) minus 2 cm, it is recommended to increase the width of the arch by 100+ mm.

Rolled

For mounting the canvases to the wall, only one measurement is required - from the edge of the window sill to the markings for the brackets, and the width can be up to 300 cm.

In the window arch, roller blinds are mounted after measuring the width, from which 4 centimeters must be subtracted, and the length of the canvas is equal to the height of the window minus 15 mm.

Pleated blinds similarly do not require a professional approach in taking measurements and installation.

Installation of vertical models

Vertical blinds are the most convenient way to decorate a window for self-fulfillment. They are attached in three ways: to the ceiling, to the frame with drilling, to the frame without drilling.

In all cases, the fastener is a cornice with or without a decorative facade.

The brackets on which the structure rests are fastened with self-tapping screws, hung or glued on double-sided tape. Special adhesive tape, despite the seeming impracticality, is fixed very firmly, so it is important to correctly mark the brackets for installation. Once they are glued, moving them will be very problematic.

Installation order vertical blinds:

  1. Preparing tools. You will need a stepladder, a set of self-tapping screws from the kit, building level and drawing accessories, drill, screwdriver.
  2. Applying pencil markings for installing brackets. To securely fix the fasteners, it is recommended to drill holes for self-tapping screws at the same stage.
  3. Mounting brackets in a suitable way(with or without drilling).
  4. Cornice installation.
  5. Lamella installation. To do this, you need to pull the control cord, on which the fasteners for the slats are located, so that they stand in the desired position. Then fix all the slats on the fastening hooks.

Installation of horizontal

For installation, you will need a set of tools: a drill, a cross-section screwdriver, a screwdriver, drawing accessories.

The instruction for installing horizontal blinds on windows contains a list of items, which is performed step by step:

  1. Draw a marking line for the installation of brackets. It should take into account the distance between the latches and the control mechanism, between the brackets (from 60 cm) and to the extreme sections on the blinds bar (25 cm). With a large width of the blinds and significant weight, it is recommended to use intermediate fasteners.
  2. Drill on the surface to which it is planned to mount the brackets holes for installing dowels. On plastic windows it is possible to apply blinds without drilling.
  3. Profile mounting.
  4. Fixing the upper rod of the blinds on the brackets. It is important to remember that the blinds at this stage are already assembled.

Working with horizontal models on sloping surfaces requires a little more effort and skill.

How to hang roller blinds?

Like other types, roller blinds or roller blinds are attached in several ways: they can be hung, glued, mounted on a frame.

First way- the easiest and most affordable for do-it-yourself installation is a fastening without drilling based on double-sided adhesive tape. Suitable for tilt-and-turn mechanisms on windows. It is carried out step by step:

  1. Degreasing the frame sections and fasteners that will be connected with adhesive tape.
  2. Roller shutter fixing.
  3. Roller blind installation. The chain mechanism can be installed from any convenient side.
  4. Bracket assembly.
  5. Bracket mounting markings. To do this, you need to install them on the assembled roller blind, install it on the window without fastening, mark the places for the adhesive tape with a pencil, remove the curtain.
  6. Application of adhesive tape on the back surface of the brackets, installation on the window.
  7. Setting the guide wire against sagging. It is attached to the “ear” of the upper bracket and curtain weighting agent, and is fixed at the bottom in the tensioner, which is installed on the frame.

The second method involves fastening to a stationary frame (not opening):

  • First of all you need to mount the roller blind, assemble the brackets and install them on the reel. Then this design must be fixed on the window in order to mark up for fastening.
  • Second step- fixing the brackets to the adhesive tape in the upper part of the frame and the string tensioner in the lower part. It is not necessary to pre-attach them with tape, but it is desirable to eliminate problems with subsequent drilling of holes for the screws. After installing the guide string, the curtain itself is mounted in the mechanisms.

How to fix cassette?

Cassette blinds can also be installed independently. Before installation, you must read the instructions, make sure that the complete set, prepare everything necessary tools: screwdriver, drawing tools, screwdriver, drill, cotton pads or a small piece of cloth, degreaser.

When everything you need is collected, you can proceed to the first stage - degreasing the glazing beads. Then you need to remove the side covers of the box, raise it to the top of the frame, focusing on the guides, drill holes for the fasteners, fix with screws. You can use a screwdriver for this purpose, or you can perform the process manually with a Phillips screwdriver.

When the box is installed, you need to fix the covers on the sides. After that, you can glue the guide rails to the degreased frame. The guides should be below the corner of the glazing bead by a few centimeters.

Important nuances

Installation work window decoration requires certain skills and experience, but if you want to try it yourself, you need to take into account some of the nuances and features in this work.

Installation of blinds begins long before preparation working surface and a set of tools.

The first step of this process- a balanced decision about the type and variety of blinds, material, color and texture, depending on the functionality of the room. So, it is more expedient to choose vertical blinds for the living room that let in light, for the bedroom automatic roller blinds with electric blackout fabric, and for the kitchen, where the smells of cooking and products of combustion of food are constantly hovering - plastic blinds that do not absorb grease and dirt.

Second important point is the correct markup. Much depends on it, including how easy the installation process will be. If all the features of the architecture of window openings are taken into account by specialists when ordering blinds from them, everything will go smoothly and easily without the help of professional installers.

It is also important to consider whether it will be possible to open the window after installation, how the light protection devices will work, and whether there is a risk of their deformation.

The installation of blinds must be carried out exactly with the markup and subsequent verification of the functionality of the structure. Here the most important point is the choice between fastening - with or without drilling.

It is also necessary to provide for the type of control. For low windows great solution is one of the varieties of mechanical direction. Roof windows, slanted windows, windows in the bedroom are suitable for magnetic, automatic (electric) control with an electric drive.

Plastic and aluminum blinds protect the room well from the effects of bright sunlight, which is very important in rooms that are on the sunny side: in offices and living rooms, where sun glare can interfere with watching TV or working on a computer. It is also convenient that the installation of horizontal blinds on plastic windows with your own hands is simple and does not require special skills.

Installation Features

The standard kit usually includes brackets, all Consumables(bolts and dowels or adhesive tape), as well as instructions on how to install horizontal blinds on plastic windows. There is nothing complicated in it: first, brackets are mounted on the window, sash or opening, and then a cornice is inserted into them.

There is no need to worry about how to properly install the lamellar system on the cornice: the manufacturer has already done this for you. Therefore, the entire installation process is reduced only to mounting the side brackets and takes a minimum of time.

Installation of horizontal blinds on plastic windows can be carried out with drilling, without drilling (on double-sided adhesive tape) and on cap brackets. The choice of method largely depends on where exactly it is planned to fix them.

Where to fix blinds

Before hanging the blinds, please note: manufacturers give a guarantee for blocks with a width of 22 cm to 220 cm and a height of up to 250 cm. A smaller width does not make sense, and for a larger one it is recommended to use two independent blocks. Blinds for plastic windows of large sizes are also found on sale, but they are fixed without a guarantee for the performance of the structure.

How to make dimensions

Before you install the blinds correctly, you need to take measurements. All subsequent installation and performance of the block system will directly depend on how accurately they are carried out. Dimensioning instructions for each installation site are different:

  • Inside window openings (suitable for cases where the window is located in the recess of the wall). It is important here that the lamellas do not touch the slopes when lifting and lowering. Based on this, we select the width of the block in such a way that it is 4-5 cm (2-2.5 cm from each side) narrower than the window opening. The height of the entire curtain must be respectively set 2-2.5 cm shorter than the length of the opening. So that each sash can open freely when the slats are raised, a distance must be left between the upper edge of the window and the blinds.
  • Outside window openings (also suitable for cases where window block located in the recess of the wall). This arrangement makes it possible to cover the entire opening area with one wide curtain and, if necessary, more effectively darken the room. To do this, it is necessary that the width of the lamellas be 5-5.5 cm on each side (only 10-11 cm) wider than the window opening, and the height of the entire curtain should fall 10 cm below the window sill.
  • On window sashes (curtains open together with the sashes, suitable for the mini model). This method saves space as much as possible and leaves the window sill completely free. Blinds to plastic windows in this case must be fixed so that they do not interfere with the rotation of the handles on the sashes and do not touch the window sill, but completely cover the glass. To do this, their width should be 1.5 cm from each side edge (only 3 cm) wider than the glass part of the window, and the height should be 1.5 cm more than its length.
  • Outside the window opening (carried out when the window is located on the same plane with the wall). Since the handles on the sashes protrude into the room, in this case you will need a special bracket that will make it possible to install the fixed blinds at a small distance from the wall. In order for them to completely shade the room when closed, their width should be 20 cm wider than the window opening (10 cm on each side), and the length should be equal to or 10 cm more than the height of the window.

How to make markup

In order to prevent distortions during installation, before installing horizontal blinds on the wall above the plastic window with drilling, it is necessary to make markings. Do not forget to leave enough space above the window, otherwise, when assembled, the lamellas will interfere with the opening of the sashes.

We will need:

  1. Blind block.
  2. Bolts and dowels to match the bracket.
  3. Roulette.
  4. Level.
  5. Construction pencil.
  6. Drill.
  7. Hammer.
  8. Screwdriver.

Operating procedure:

  1. Use a level and ruler to mark each side.
  2. Lay the bottom of the mount on the reference line, then mark the drilling points with a pencil.
  3. Highlight the cross markings to better indicate the drilling points.
  4. Drill the places where the dowels are inserted, holding the tool perpendicular.
  5. Insert the dowels by hand and hammer them in with a hammer.

How to hang

The most hard work behind. It remains only to hang the horizontal blinds in place.

Procedure:

  1. We install universal brackets.
  2. By turning the latch counterclockwise, we fix the upper cornice on the bracket at a distance of 20 cm from the edge.
  3. Turn the latch clockwise until it stops.
  4. Insert the hook rotary mechanism located on the upper eaves into the control handle (relevant for models with a cord and a handle).

We check the performance of the system: raise and lower the slats, rotate them at different angles, changing the lighting, check if they interfere with the opening of the wings. If all these manipulations were successful for you without extra effort blinds installed correctly.
A counterweight blackout curtains, the lightweight lamella construction in colored plastic or multi-coloured aluminum ensures good air circulation while guaranteeing even illumination. With it, you can easily protect your home from direct sun rays, and if the color and texture of the lamellas are correctly selected for the design of the apartment, they will favorably emphasize its merits.

Specialization: master in construction drywall constructions, finishing works and styling floor coverings. Installation of door and window blocks, facade finishing, installation of electrics, plumbing and heating - I can give detailed advice on all types of work.

If you need high-quality window protection from sunlight or prying eyes, then the most simple solution will install blinds on the windows. This option has whole line advantages: low cost, ease of installation and the ability to purchase products of any size. In the review, we will figure out how to fix the structure, the methods of work are different, so you will definitely find the right one.

Overview of mounting options

Now let's go directly to the workflow. When installed in different ways, the size of the blinds varies significantly. Therefore, I strongly recommend that you first read this section, choose the method that is most suitable, and only then order blinds according to the recommendations that will be given in the corresponding paragraph.

No need to rush, in construction and repair, this always leads to extra costs or problems during work. Only having understood all the nuances, proceed to the selection of the product and its installation.

Method 1 - fastening inside the opening

A very common solution, which is characterized by a fairly simple workflow and is highly reliable. Installing blinds with your own hands on a plastic window can be done in several ways:

  • On top of the window frame, this is a very popular solution due to its simplicity;
  • On the wall above the window, if the space in the opening allows it;
  • On the top of the opening, if it is not possible to use any of the above methods.

If you decide to use this particular option, then here are recommendations for you on how to choose the optimal size of the blinds:

  • The width of the system should be 4 cm less than the width of the opening, that is, you should have gaps of 2 cm on both sides. This is necessary not only for the free movement of the structure, but also for the normal fixing of the upper box, since it can be wider than the lamellas themselves;

  • The height of the system should be 2 cm less than the height of the opening. But there is important nuance- if one or two doors open, then the box should be located so as not to interfere with the operation of the structure. If this does not work out, then it is better to use the sash mounting option, which we will describe below.

To carry out the work we need the following:

Equipment Description
Mounting brackets
Blinds You must purchase a ready-made kit in size, taking into account the above recommendations. Usually the structure is assembled and you only need to make sure that the cord is not tangled
Mounting brackets Most often they come in a kit, but sometimes you need to purchase them separately. For example, if you mount the system to the ceiling, then the wall bracket may not be suitable, although many modern manufacturers come with universal elements that can be used for any type of work.
screwdriver With it, self-tapping screws will be twisted, if you fix the blinds on the frame, then no other power tool will be needed
Perforator It is necessary when drilling an opening for the installation of dowels, with which the mounting brackets will be fixed. Naturally, a drill of the appropriate diameter and length must be present in the kit.
Measuring tool Of course, you can’t do without markings; a level, ruler or tape measure and a pencil are used for work. It is important to place the blinds evenly, so do not do the work by eye.

Now let's figure out how to install the structure correctly:

  • First you need to unpack the blinds, make sure that everything is in order with them and there are no damages. Then the box is tried on to the opening, you have to check if everything is in order and if all sizes match, this will not take much time, but everything will definitely be in order. If the sashes open at the window, then be sure to check if the box interferes with their movement, do not miss other little things like handles on the windows, the blinds should not rest against them;

  • Using the level, you need to mark the horizontal on the surface, just put a couple of dots or strokes so that you can navigate them as you work. Next, brackets are applied and the points for drilling holes are marked, if you will be attached to the wall or the top of the opening, in case of fixing to the frame, you must also put points in the right places;
  • If you need to drill holes, then this part of the work is done, after which plastic dowels are inserted, holes are obtained for the screws with which the fasteners will be attached. In cases where you are attached to PVC, you can immediately twist special self-tapping screws in plastic, they fit well into the material. It is much easier to work with a screwdriver, although a regular screwdriver will do;

  • If the brackets are installed correctly, then it will not be difficult to fix the container with blinds in them, it simply snaps into the fasteners. The structure must be held securely and not move at the attachment points;
  • Lastly, the operation of the system is checked, everything should move easily, without any problems and obstacles.

Method 2 - fastening outside the opening

Now let's figure out how to install the blinds outside the opening yourself. This option is suitable for cases where the window is not recessed deep into the wall and if you want to darken the room as best as possible, there are two mounting methods:

  • If the window is deep, then the structure is installed on the wall above the opening;
  • When the window is flush with the wall or slightly deepened, the installation is carried out on special brackets;
  • Sometimes fastening is made to, such a system is more often used in vertical blinds due to their large size.

Now let's see how to determine optimal dimensions blinds in this case:

  • The width of the product must be 10 cm more than the width of the opening, so that the system enters the walls at least 5 cm on each side, this will ensure high-quality darkening. The height can be 10 cm more than the opening if the window sill does not protrude or the size is calculated individually if there is a protrusion;

When hanging the box, do not forget that it should not interfere with the opening of the doors, the easiest way is to place it along the top line of the opening.

  • If the window is flush with the wall and the blinds are mounted at a distance from the wall, then the width of the structure must be at least 20 cm wider than the opening in order to ensure high-quality blackout. As for the height, it is determined based on whether the system will be lowered below the opening or whether it will lie on the windowsill.

To work, you need the following list of tools:

  • Perforator with a drill of the right size;
  • Level and pencil for marking;
  • Screwdriver or screwdriver for tightening fasteners.

The work instructions look like this:

  • First you need to attach the blinds to the opening to make sure that you did not make a mistake with the width. Using the level, marks are made in the right places, after which it is necessary to determine the exact position of the mounting brackets and mark the points at which these elements will be attached to the wall;

  • Drilling is done at the marked points, so as not to constantly check the depth, wind the tape around the drill in the required place and navigate along it when working, so you do not make the holes too deep or too small;

If your structure width exceeds one and a half meters, then you should hang it not on two, but on three brackets to ensure the necessary rigidity and strength. At large sizes it is better to use aluminum products, they are less susceptible to deformation and retain a clear geometry for many years.

  • Attaching the brackets is quick and easy if you've made the holes in the right places. The workflow is simple: first, plastic dowels are inserted and pushed to the stop, after which they are attached load-bearing elements and fixed with screws included in the kit. They can be either screwed in or simply hammered in with a hammer, the reliability of fastening does not suffer from this;
  • The last step is this: you need to insert the container into the latches, make sure that it is fixed securely, after which you can proceed to check the system's performance.

Method 3 - fastening to the sashes with clamps

Now let's figure out how to install plastic blinds on plastic windows, although the process is similar for products made from other materials. This option is great for windows in which one or more sashes open, fasten individual elements on each half of the glazing, which allows you to open not the entire opening, but part of it. In addition, such solutions do not interfere with the opening of windows, which is also important.

Fastening is always done on the frame, and you can do it as indicated in the first method - using self-tapping screws. But such a solution has one significant disadvantage: if you decide to remove the blinds, then holes will remain on the surface, which you are unlikely to get rid of. Therefore, it is better to use the technology from this section, then the frames will remain intact.

Consider how to determine the optimal dimensions of the blinds in this case:

  • The width of the structure must be 3 cm greater than the width of the glazing, that is, the overlap on the frame is 1.5 cm. It is important that the system does not rest against the handle and does not interfere with opening the window;
  • The height should be 3-5 cm more than the height of the double-glazed window.

In this case, we need the following set of materials:

  • Blinds in ready-made with a U-shaped top;
  • Plastic clips that are specially configured to be mounted on the frame and snap into the louver box;
  • Lower holders that will fix the blinds in a taut position and will not allow them to sag, even if the window is open.

As for the tool, we will not need anything at all - only hands and the desire to carry out the installation without outside help.

Installation of blinds on a plastic window is carried out according to the following technology:

  • First you need to open the sash and wipe it with a cloth, the design must be clean;
  • Latches are placed on the frame on both sides of the sash with an indent from the edges of at least a few centimeters if the width is large or the blinds are massive, then three fasteners can be used;
  • Lastly, under the outer part of the holders, a box of blinds is started until it clicks. The protrusion of the latch should go into the groove in such a way as shown in the diagram below, everything is quite simple and easy;

  • Lastly, latches are installed at the bottom of the frame. Here it is important to clearly note their position so that the open blinds are in a taut state, and not dangling. When the markup is completed, you can attach the elements with self-tapping screws or using double-sided tape so as not to damage the window profile.

Method 4 - mounting on universal brackets

This option resembles the one described above, but also has a number of differences, so it should be considered separately. It also does not require drilling of sashes, no tools are needed for work, and the main fastener is a universal mount that is suitable for blinds, roller blinds and pleated blinds. That is, you get a platform on which you can mount different systems.

The list of materials and the measurement process is no different from the above option, so we will start immediately with the installation process. Work is carried out in the following sequence:

  • First you need to clean the surface of dust and degrease it, this will fix our elements as reliably as possible;
  • Then you need to stick double-sided tape to the back of the latches. The stores have different variants, choose better products that are designed for fastening heavy objects, so as not to worry about the reliability of the design;

  • The bracket is inserted into the mounting platform if necessary, if you will fasten the structure to a blind sash, then the latch is not needed. This is a very big plus, since in the previous case it is impossible to attach the blinds to blind sashes without self-tapping screws;
  • Then a bracket of the configuration we need is attached to the base, short self-tapping screws are used for work so that they do not protrude from the back side;
  • Further, the elements are glued to the surface in the required places, and in the case of opening doors, they are also snapped onto the upper end;
  • Lastly, the blind box is fixed - and the design is ready for use, everything is simple and fast.

If you are thinking about how to install plastic blinds on windows, then this option is the best fit, because the design is lightweight and double-sided tape will easily hold it.

Conclusion

Installation of blinds can be carried out without hiring specialists, any of the above options for carrying out work is within the power of even an inexperienced master. The video in this article will help you understand the topic even better, and if you have additional questions, then write them in the comments below.

Blinds, which even 10 years ago looked like a real foreign exotic, today have firmly entered our lives. Majority office space and institutions have moved from using standard curtains to universal blinds that collect less dust, look stricter and are incredibly comfortable.

Blinds are used even in rooms made in classical style, because their functionality, ease of care and appearance are on top. In addition, blinds provide effective protection spaces from sunlight, allow you to easily adjust the level of illumination in the room, reliably shield the room from prying eyes.

The installation of blinds must be carried out in accordance with all the rules, otherwise you risk getting a lot of problems: the curtains will not move, it will be difficult to assemble the curtain, etc. A high-quality installation ensures the longevity of the blinds. When installing, you need to take into account the design features, the specifics of the walls (or window frames) in the room.

PVC window companies offer blinds in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Depending on destination, blinds are made from:

By type of blinds are:

These types differ significantly in the location of the lamellas and installation methods.

Vertical blinds are a rarity in ordinary residential areas, they are more often used in offices. They are mounted above the top edge of the window, similar to curtains, although this may adversely affect their functionality. And roller blinds and horizontal blinds are more often used at home instead of traditional curtains. Their installation is carried out not only in the window opening, but also on top of the window.

Roller blinds are mounted on the front surface of the corner of the upper slope of the window profile.

Blinds with horizontal slats can be mounted directly on the window profile, on each sash. Often, horizontal slats are complemented by curtains with curtains. Installing blinds directly on the window profile saves usable space in the room itself and frees up space on the windowsill.

Blinds are made up of:

For windows of a non-standard shape, it is necessary to use lamellas of a special length, which will best ensure the light protection of the room.

If your window has two sashes, then when installing the blinds, pay attention to the location of the blinds lifting mechanism (right, left).

Three ways to install blinds:

  • overlay;
  • for each window sash separately;
  • directly into the window opening.

A factory set of blinds usually includes all the materials for their installation: screws and self-tapping screws, as well as other details.

The choice of installation option is associated with the design features of the window: it is a little easier to install blinds on standard double-leaf windows than on inclined roof windows. One of the most difficult is the installation of blinds on PVC windows, since working with plastic, compared to, say, with wood, has a number specific features. The installation of the cornice on plastic windows should be carried out as carefully as possible and it is better to do this in the warm season (at temperatures above +5 degrees Celsius).

The installation of the blinds on the window sash can be carried out using self-tapping screws, brackets or by drilling holes in the frame. It is the most durable and reliable.

Important! The tightness of the profile when attaching the cornice of the blinds to it with the help of drilling does not suffer. If it becomes necessary to remove the cornice, and holes remain in the frame, they can be filled with white silicone sealant.

If you do not want to drill holes, use brackets that are attached to the frame without drilling.

Important! In most cases, blinds can be fixed with screws that are already in the window profile. This installation method is no less reliable than drilling holes. You can learn about the possibility of such a simple installation from the blinds instructions.

Blinds installation progress

After unpacking the blinds, read the instructions. Installing blinds means: measuring the window and adjusting the dimensions of the blinds to it; then install the fasteners for the cornice and the cord system; collect the strips on the eaves and check the performance of the system.

Measurements are necessary in order to subsequently make it convenient to use the light-protective sheet, without complaining about distortions or frequent breakdowns. It is especially important to verify the dimensions of the paintings and adjust them to the place of attachment if the window opening has a specific geometric shape.

Before screwing, you need to mark the position of the fasteners with a pencil, checking them with a level and a tape measure, in order to avoid skewed fit and leave room for adjusting the container, and also so that the strips do not extend beyond the window glass.

2. Installing the cornice and slats

Before installation and direct installation, it is necessary to mark the fasteners with maximum accuracy and symmetry. For the adjusting cord, additional fastening must be provided so that the structure can withstand the additional load. All elements are fixed to the wall with screws or dowels. Next is the installation of the eaves. The lamellas and runners themselves will be attached to it. The rigidity of the structure is guaranteed by the upper eaves bar, so there is no need to additionally strengthen the bar with glue, sealant or foam - it is fixed quite rigidly.

When reinstalling, you need to measure the width of each window sash so that the window fittings do not interfere with the free hanging of the slats. Also, when choosing the installation “in the window opening”, you need to reduce the height of 2 cm on each side so that the canvas does not touch the window sill. For fixing blinds close to plastic window, you need to drill the plastic frame of the window according to the marking - pre-drilling will prevent cracking of the plastic.

If the plates on which the blinds are hung do not fit snugly against the window profile, use linings.

Brackets for blinds are screwed into the holes with self-tapping screws. Next, the brackets need to be fixed upward with latches and insert a container with blinds into them.

The lower holders are attached as follows: lower the curtain to mark the lower points (the canvas should be loosely stretched). According to these marks, drill holes into which you need to screw the lower holders that fix the canvas in the “micro-ventilation” position. Make sure the staples are firmly seated in the plastic.

When installing overlay, add 5 cm in width so that the entire opening is closed. The height is adjustable arbitrarily and can reach the window sill or the floor itself.

There are a number modern ways installation of blinds, involving the installation of a cornice with lamellas on brackets attached to window frame without drilling. The striped cornice is simply hung on the brackets and snapped into place. The design is collapsible, which allows you to remove the blinds when you need to wash window glass or wipe the slats. This is the easiest way to install blinds.

Features of mounting blinds by type

Vertical blinds

Before starting the installation of vertical blinds, you need to decide whether a wall or ceiling mount for the cornice will be more convenient. The height of the light-protective fabric depends on the place where the cornice is attached.

The thickness of the guide for vertical blinds should be at least 5-6 cm, such a gap will ensure free movement of the slats. If there is an obstacle between the blinds and the wall (batteries, etc.), then you will need to install an additional bracket, which is not included in the kit, you need to buy it separately.

If you want the blinds to be at some distance from the wall (cases are different: a pipe, etc.), you must additionally purchase a bracket

For vertical blinds, the order in which the slats are hung is also important: they must be attached to the cornice in the same order that was in the factory box. Also, before starting the installation, it is necessary to determine the correct direction of the suspensions. Correct position when closed you can't see the seam on the blinds material.

Don't forget to place the bottom weights on the vertical strips to keep the canvas looking flat. Cargoes from outside and inner sides connected to each other in a chain. The plumb line is attached to the cord, which is included in the kit. Different manufacturers use plumb lines of different shapes.

There are a wide variety of vertical blind mounts available in stores, but they are very often unreliable. It will be most reliable to mount the blinds using a pair of brackets that need to be screwed to the wall with self-tapping screws.

Roller and horizontal blinds

Horizontal and roller blinds, as well as vertical ones, are equally conveniently mounted on a wall, attached to a window or ceiling. The main thing is to clearly measure whether the canvases will interfere with opening the window. If this happens, in the strips, if possible, you need to cut a hole in advance for comfortable opening of the window sashes.

When fixing on double-sided tape, do not forget to dedust and degrease the surface with high quality.

You have convinced yourself that self-assembly Blinds are easy enough if you know a few tricks to make the process easier. Good luck with your DIY blinds!
