Instructions for finishing the balcony with plastic panels. We sheathe the balcony with plastic panels with our own hands. Plastic materials for external cladding of a balcony

Good afternoon everyone!

Years go by, but people don't change. The other day I met my classmate, with whom I made stools at labor lessons.

He still remained a lover of doing everything with his own hands and decided to surprise his wife on March 8: update the balcony. But there were difficulties with the installation of plastic panels.

He started asking me what I was doing wrong. I gave him a couple good advice, but for myself I realized that I need to fix them on "electronic paper", since not everyone knows some of the nuances. You can find out more about them below.

Finishing balconies and loggias with plastic panels

Finishing a balcony is not a very simple process, requiring not only certain skills, but also the selection of specific materials. So familiar wallpaper, so often used for decoration interior spaces, do not fit, as well as painting. It is associated with unfavorable external factors regularly affecting the loggia. Temperature fluctuations, high humidity, fungus and mold can destroy even the best cosmetic repairs. For this reason, we suggest that you approach the issue of finishing more responsibly and consider the option of covering the balcony with plastic - using laminated panels "Vek" and "Vivipan".

Laminated or plain plastic cladding panels?

Having decided to finish the balcony plastic panels, you will be faced with a choice: the material can be plain or laminated.

The difference lies not only in the technology of creation, but also in the appearance of the balcony, which should cause admiration, mixed with the envy of the neighbors.

So, practicality, accessibility and aesthetics become the main factors in the popularity of this finishing material.

Advantages of finishing the loggia with plastic panels

Plastic is a material that has a number of advantages, including not only ease of care, lightness and practicality. Below are the main advantages of cladding a room, in particular a loggia, with plastic panels.

  1. Durability. Due to the excellent characteristics of PVC, repairs with its use will last for many years. The quality of plastic panels is close to the laminate. And scratches and minor mechanical damage that may occur over time will not be visible to the naked eye.
  2. Aesthetics. Due to the variety of textures and colors, the use of laminated panels allows you to experiment with the interior and make a full-fledged room out of the loggia. Even the most demanding customers will be surprised by the variety on offer.
  3. Environmental friendliness. Finishing the loggia with plastic is a safe process. The material is non-toxic, which is why such sheathing is widespread in medical and children's educational institutions. Even the polyurethane adhesive used in the production of plastic does not contain harmful substances.
  4. Ease of installation. The dimensions of each panel are 2700x250x90 cm. When finishing the loggia with plastic, they are attached to the crate using a molding, so that the design has no gaps and seams and looks perfect.
  5. Resistance to external influences. No need to worry that over time the panels will lose their decorative effect, fading in the sun. The properties of laminated materials do not change under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, moisture, temperature changes.
  6. Democratic prices. Sheathing the balcony with plastic panels is also so popular due to the affordable cost.
  7. Can be attached to any material. PVC panels can be attached to concrete, brick and even plywood partitions.

By improving the loggia in this way, you will get a good repair that will last for decades. The materials used are of excellent quality and availability. We are focused on the result, which is manifested in your words of gratitude and sincere smiles.

Finishing of balconies and loggias - good way gain additional usable space minimal cost. These are very specific rooms, with their own microclimate, so the usual decoration, without pre-training surfaces will quickly become unusable. The approach to the arrangement should take into account all the features of loggias and balconies.

We will try to figure out how to finish the loggia inside, the photos will help us illustrate the whole process in stages. We will also consider the better to sheathe a room with different operating conditions. Let's evaluate the physical, chemical and aesthetic characteristics of the most popular finishing materials: PVC and MDF panels, wall paneling, textured plaster, stone, drywall.

High-quality interior decoration of balconies and loggias always begins with the preparation of the premises, it is necessary to make repairs, strengthen the parapet, repair cracks. Free the loggia from things, clean it from debris.

Carefully examine the concrete, beat off the broken pieces with a hammer, treat all metal parts with an abrasive from rust. If the surfaces are affected by the fungus, it is necessary to burn it out blowtorch and treat with copper sulphate.

Close up the cracks sand-cement mortar. Reinforce the flimsy parapet with metal corners. If cold glazing of the loggia is planned, then weld or knock down the frame from the bars.

If you want to make a warm room out of the loggia, the parapet should be overlaid with blocks of cellular concrete. Further, all surfaces are treated with waterproofing compounds, and the loggia is insulated, a layer of vapor barrier is laid, and the crate is stuffed.

How to choose materials

The choice of materials for finishing the loggia largely depends on what functional load you assign to it.

If it is the decoration of balconies and loggias without glazing, frost-resistant plastic, lining, blockhouse, fake diamond, plaster and paints for external works, siding, corrugated board.

For a glazed, insulated, but not heated loggia, it is recommended to choose finishing materials adapted for use in cold rooms.

First of all, they must tolerate temperature changes well, and are not afraid of UV rays. To finish the insulated room, there is no question of how to sheathe the loggia inside, you can use any materials, depending on the design of the room, but mainly it is drywall, lining, plastic panels.

In addition to practicality in decoration, important role the aesthetics of the room plays, especially if the loggia will be converted into a room.

Note!

Finishing is suitable for any type of loggias decorative plaster combined with brick or stone. Usually this technique is used to create a loft or Provence style. But this is a rather expensive finishing method that requires the skills of applying plaster, so this method of decorating loggias is rarely done by hand.

And here is the lining warm loggias plasterboard is quite popular, but this finishing option only initially seems cheap, then you need to putty the seams, treat everything with adhesive compounds, after which the finishing should follow. There is room for design flight here. Wallpaper, rattan or cork cloth are glued to drywall, tile, combine wallpaper and stone, with proper surface preparation, even artistic painting is possible. Note that this method of finishing is used if the loggia is attached to the apartment or is equipped for living space.

crate

Regardless of the chosen material for finishing the loggia, in order to create a ventilation gap for ventilation of the heat-insulating layer, and for ease of installation of the sheathing, it is necessary to make a crate. It can be either from wooden bars or from galvanized metal profiles.

If vertical lining or blockhouse lining is planned, then the crate is done horizontally, and vice versa. Under any finishing materials, it is necessary to lay the lathing bars: from above, where the sheathing will end, from below, at the junction of the floor-wall, in each corner, under the windows, the lathing should also frame the doorway. The middle bars of the crate are laid in increments of 40-100 cm; for the rigidity of the structure, it is necessary to install additional bars perpendicular to the main guides.

Helpful advice!

The crate is attached to the wall with dowel-nails; for strength, the plastic socket should be 1-2 sizes smaller than the self-tapping screw. The whole tree is treated with an antiseptic, impregnation with a fire-resistant compound is also necessary. Be sure to check the correctness of the planes with a level, the geometry of the entire skin depends on this.

In the P-44t series of houses, a fire hatch is provided on the loggia, which is closed with a metal cover, which greatly complicates the installation of the frame for subsequent finishing. In some houses, a metal shield can be cut off, but usually a fence is held on this cover, then the hatch should simply be bypassed with a crate. On boat-type loggias, there is a concrete pillar in the corner, which is most often hidden inside a built-in wardrobe.

Finish options

In addition to objective circumstances, such as the microclimate and the chosen design for the room, the interior decoration of the loggia largely depends on your aesthetic preferences and the budget for repairs. Each material has its undeniable advantages and disadvantages, then we will consider the most popular finishing options.

clapboard

For example, lining can be wooden and plastic, they are identical in appearance, in fact, both options can be used in the same design. In addition, both plastic and wood are suitable for cladding warm and cold loggias, so in this matter the choice remains only with the price and cladding technology.

Note!

A distinctive feature of eurolining is a tongue-and-groove lock and an 8-mm groove, this configuration greatly facilitates the sheathing, it also ensures that even when the wood gets wet and overdries, the finish does not crack or deform.

Grooves are provided on the reverse side of the lining, which provides additional ventilation of the skin, even when condensate accumulates, it flows down the recesses, so the material absorbs moisture less. Front side lining can be rounded, chamfered, notched, or completely flat.

Natural lining "breathes", which is especially important for regions with high humidity, wood creates natural ventilation, thereby additionally regulating the microclimate of the loggia. Lining the loggia with a clapboard made of wood is suitable for almost all styles of decorating the loggia, the texture of natural wood is already an interior decoration in itself. After grinding, it can be painted in different colors with enamel, tinted with stain, oil, cast to make the texture appear even brighter, apply a patina. From above lining it is recommended to cover with a primer and a varnish.

Natural lining is defenseless against fungi, microorganisms, and is also fire hazardous. Therefore, do-it-yourself finishing of the loggia with eurolining requires that you perform additional work: all surfaces of the loggia, lining and crate must be well waterproofed, impregnated 2-3 times with antiseptics, be sure to treat with a refractory compound, and additionally treat the wooden trim elements with PVA putty on top. In areas with a difficult climate, it is better to use larch lining for sheathing, if it is pine, then at least the loggia should be glazed.

Plastic PVC lining is not so whimsical in finishing, but in appearance it is identical to natural. PVC lining does not rot, is environmentally friendly, is not susceptible to fungi, does not require additional processing and finishing. Its texture is very similar to the texture of natural wood, but the plastic finish does not "breathe", so it is recommended to cover the insulation with a high-quality vapor barrier membrane.

Plastic lining is sensitive to a large temperature delta, moreover, it deforms when heated by UV rays, therefore, in hot areas and on loggias facing the sunny side, this method of finishing will require mandatory glazing and thick curtains.

Sheathing a loggia with a clapboard does not require special skills, installation is simple and accessible to any craftsman who knows how to handle simple tools. Next, we describe step by step instructions how to sheathe a loggia with a clapboard yourself.

To finish the loggia with clapboard, it is better to use a wooden crate or specially designed guides with grooves; you can fasten the sheathing with self-tapping screws or kleimers. Of course, guides and kleimers greatly facilitate the finish, but this method of sheathing will require financial costs.

Note!

For the convenience of stuffing the lining, especially if you decide to make a beautiful ornament out of the rail, it is recommended to sew up the crate with plywood or OSB sheets. Do not forget to treat the materials with protective solutions. This method of sheathing will create additional sound insulation and retain heat on the loggia.
Finishing technology is based on the form of lining, fastening tongue and groove. The spike is attached to the crate with a self-tapping screw, a nail at an angle to the rail, or clamped with a clamp. If the loggia is sheathed horizontally, then the finishing starts from the bottom up, if vertically, then from the corner end wall to the loggia window, then long walls are sheathed.

The rail is cut to size, applied to the site, leveled, and only then attached. The tenon groove is inserted next, if necessary, you can tap through the board so that the lining falls exactly into place, and so the rail to the rail to the end.

When sheathing a loggia or balcony with natural wood materials, so that the finish does not deform even when swelling from high humidity, you should leave a gap between the cladding and the floor, as well as between the cladding and the ceiling, approximately one centimeter.

Helpful advice!

Tip: If you plan to sheathe the loggia in an original way, then an ornament is drawn on the plywood, the lining is cut according to the scheme, the upholstery of complex patterns starts from the center to the corners of the loggia.

When the walls are sheathed, if the design of the room requires it, the ceiling is hemmed, after which they are mounted floor plinth and ceiling cornice. Before processing the lining on the loggia with the finishing composition, it must be sanded, plastic lining does not need additional processing.

PVC panels

PVC panels are the absolute leader budget repair. The material has a very convenient sizes for covering the loggia, there is practically no waste during finishing. On top of the panels are covered with melamine resins, which protects the plastic from chemical and thermal influences. Inside, to protect the panels from mechanical damage, special partition membranes, peculiar stiffeners are provided, this design additionally protects the room from noise, retains heat.

Some types of PVC panels are designed for interior decoration in difficult climatic conditions, and can withstand temperatures up to 40 ° C below zero. Plastic does not let water through, does not need additional lining, it is very easy to maintain during operation. Matte surfaces can be cleaned with abrasives, glossy surfaces are easy to clean with soapy water.

Huge color palette, a large selection of textures, ornaments and patterns make the panels universal for arranging a loggia, even with the most elaborate design. But like any plastic, PVC panels are afraid of direct sunlight, so when decorating a loggia, it is recommended to provide blinds or blackout curtains.

Finishing loggias with PVC panels starts from the corner of the end wall to the window, if the panels are mounted vertically, with horizontal sheathing - from the bottom up. There are 2 ways to install wall panels.

The first installation option is absolutely identical to the clapboard sheathing, only a special profile is attached in the corner, where the first panel is inserted. The penultimate and last plate are installed together. The finishing profile is attached close to the window, last panel measured in width, cut 1-3 mm less than the original size. The grooves of the panels are filled with silicone, the dies are folded into a house, the cut edge is inserted into the profile, and the panels are straightened.

The second method of sheathing is suitable for vertical finishing, if the ceiling and floor of the loggia are sheathed. Before finishing the walls on the loggia with panels, a special plinth with a groove is installed above and below. The material is cut to size minus 2-3 mm. First, the upper edge is inserted into the groove, the panel is slightly bent, the lower edge is inserted, the panel is straightened until it clicks.

When all panels are installed, corners and joints are closed with planks. Watch the video, where do-it-yourself finishing of the loggia is disassembled in stages, the video instruction will help you properly sheathe the surfaces with PVC panels.

Finishing of balconies and loggias, the photos clearly demonstrate this, it can be done absolutely different materials, in the article we analyzed the characteristics of popular facing materials, and found out what, first of all, should be guided by when choosing a skin. Only an integrated approach to the repair of the loggia can guarantee you that the decoration of the loggia will retain its appearance for a long time.

How to panel a balcony

Many owners ignore the issue of finishing the balcony in order to save money, since it is not always used as a living space. But it is not necessary to buy expensive material for this, such as lining or ceramic tile. Change appearance premises and improve it thermal insulation characteristics PVC plastic panels are capable, which will cost an order of magnitude cheaper, but will last just as long. Consider the advantages this material when sheathing a balcony and the technology of mounting panels.

Panel selection

The owners for cladding the balcony choose panels made of plastic, as they have many advantages:

  1. PVC panels are resistant to moisture, are able to pass air and do not succumb to rotting processes.
  2. They are not susceptible to weather conditions, whether hot or cold, so they will not fade in the sun and warp from frost over time.
  3. This finishing material allows you to increase the thermal insulation of the room, and also has good sound insulation.
  4. The material is not static, that is, the finish will not collect dust.
  5. Caring for such a surface is not a hassle: it is enough to wipe it with a sponge without the use of special detergents.
  6. Plastic panels create an integral harmonious picture with metal-plastic windows.
  7. Thanks to the rich color scheme, imitation panels of wood or stone finishes, as well as bamboo coating, the presence on sale of matte, glossy, laminated and metallized panels, you can recreate any design solution.
  • On the market building materials narrow plastic panels are presented, the width of which reaches 25 centimeters, and wide ones with a width of 38 cm. The latter are more suitable for finishing the balcony. Panels are available in lengths of 2.7 and 3 meters.
  • Take a closer look at the stiffeners: the more of them, the higher the strength of the panels.
  • To assess the quality of the material, it is customary to pay attention to the wrong side. Check to back side was uniform in color, inclusions that are not provided for by the color should not be visible.
  • The front side, of course, should be perfect. It is not allowed to have a blurry, poorly detailed pattern, visible stiffeners and waves, as well as areas that are not completely painted over.
  • Try joining two panels: in this case, you will hear a characteristic click, there should not be a gap on the front surface.
  • Do not take defective material - with holes and chips on the surface.
  • To work, you will need the following tools: a hammer, a drill, a building level, a saw, a puncher, a tape measure, metal scissors.

Preparatory work before sheathing the balcony with plastic panels is crucial. Thanks to proper preparation temperature regime balcony changes from "outdoor" to "indoor". It becomes comfortable on the loggia even in winter: when the temperature outside the window reaches minus 20, the room will not fall below +17°C.

On this stage the balcony should be glazed, insulated and the joints sealed. For glazing the balcony we use PVC double glazing without ventilation slots. We make several double-glazed windows opening - as a rule, 2-4, it is recommended to place them in pairs in the corners. The rest of the windows will be blank. Also, when glazing a balcony, do not forget to install drainage profiles.

We carry out warming of the balcony in the following sequence:

  1. All cracks from the side of the street must first be sealed so that the balcony looks like a blank box. For this use construction foam, mortar prepared from cement, silicone.
  2. First, insulate the room with foam - lay it between the bars. When living on the top floor, and also if the balcony is open above, do not forget to insulate the ceiling by hanging a CD profile on it every 50-70 cm, which will become a crate for finishing. We use dowels for fastening. But wooden slats will not work, as the tree will warp from leakage, and the entire finish will suffer. Next, stick the foam into the space formed by the profile strips using silicone.
  3. The most time-consuming step is to create the balcony batten, namely, drilling holes in the railing for the CD profile. In the holes you have to make a thread (for example, M3) for mounting the crate, such as you did on the ceiling. We use screws for fastening, since the dowels in this case will begin to weaken and dangle after a couple of years. Styrofoam is again laid between the profiles. At this stage, you should also lay electrical wiring, if necessary.

Installing a profile

For cladding a balcony, such PVC profile: straight, angled - two-sided to create a simple angle and three-sided for a triple inner corner, when sheathing the window opening that opens onto the balcony, you will also need outer corners:

  • The straight profile resembles the letter "P". It is customary to fasten it to the crate through the sidewall - the one that is wider.
  • A simple angle is 2 straight profiles. They are connected at right angles. They put it on the corners, if desired, it is replaced by 2 straight boxes.
  • The triple corner is intended for installation in trihedral corners - external and internal. The three elements are connected at an angle of 90°. If you have the skills to work with a miter box, then without such a profile it is also possible.
To fasten the profile to the crate, we use self-tapping screws, which have an extended hat called a “pancake”, and a drill. Guides are made not only in the corners, but also frame the balcony door and windows. When installing, make sure that the profile does not crack.

Panel mounting

At the next stage, we proceed directly to the decoration of the balcony. PVC panels, starting to sheathe a solid surface without openings:

  1. We start working from the corner of the room. Cut the cladding panel and insert into the groove of the previously fixed box at the bottom. At the same time, the top of the board is held by hand. To insert it into the groove from above, slightly bend the arc. If the panel is stuck, slap lightly with the palm of your hand. Secure it with a press washer. On a panel that has a size of 2.5 m, you will need 2-3 fasteners. After installation, check with a level and make sure that the panel is level.
  2. We proceed to the installation of the second panel. All panels have spikes and grooves, thanks to which they are attached to each other. When the tongue and groove connect, you will hear a characteristic click. We act in this way until we reach the last and penultimate boards.
  3. The last board is partially cut in width by 6-8 mm, so that an empty space subsequently remains in the profile. We drip a little silicone into the finishing box - 3-4 drops will be enough, then we insert the last plastic panel all the way.
  4. Now we put the penultimate one, pushing it onto the previous one, we push the last one out of the profile so that it sits in the groove of the penultimate one.

Making openings

Before finishing the openings, you need to sheathe the rest of the surface with solid boards. The area that remains above and below the opening is sewn up at the very end. The last board before trimming is carefully measured, while all the rest should be tightly located among themselves, the tongues should be completely driven into the grooves over the entire area.

If gaps formed in the corners when sheathing the balcony, then cover them with a PVC plinth, fixing them on mounting glue.

In order to exchange air with living rooms, do below balcony door several rows of holes, which should have a diameter of 15-20 mm. A decorative lattice is used to mask them. For air flow, a regular window is used, located on the balcony window, and in warm weather - all windows.

Plastic panels for cladding loggias and balconies are an extremely practical material. It is durable, non-flammable, does not require special care and is easy to clean with an ordinary wet cloth or wet wipes. Standard sizes such panels are in length - from 2.5 to 6 m, in width - from 0.1 to 0.3 m. Standard Thickness, as a rule, is 8 mm, panels with a thickness of 12 mm are less common.

What you need to know about plastic panels

The material is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), the color is most often white, but if necessary, you can choose any color without exaggeration. Installation of panels and preparation for this work is carried out quickly, while no serious special knowledge and skills are required from workers. Therefore, you can do all the work yourself, while the result will look quite professional.

The very first thing to do before buying is to check the quality of the panels. They are usually sold by the dozen in a plastic package. It is possible that some strips will be simply curved, not suitable for installation.

If they are used, then large cracks will form on the surface at the junctions. And high-quality plating is just different in that the planes must pass one into another completely imperceptibly to the eye.

Exists great option- which look very impressive.

We mount the frame for cladding

Work begins with a careful measurement of the surface and the calculation of vertical beams for installation wooden crate or frame. They are necessary in order to take the main crate (horizontal beams) away from the wall and insulation. They can be made both from a mounting rail, a metal profile (for wet rooms), and from an ordinary wooden bar with dimensions of 20x40 mm.

Scheme of the crate under the panels

The beams are fastened with self-tapping screws or dowel-nails, depending on the material of the wall. With the help of the level, you need to ensure that their position is even. If the wall of the balcony has a curvature, then the crate is leveled by placing pieces of timber, plywood, etc. under it.

Beam frame on walls and ceiling

After mounting the vertical rails on top of them, you need to attach horizontal ones in increments of about 40-50 cm. For this, self-tapping screws with countersunk heads for wood are used. Remember that the direction of these rails must be perpendicular to the direction of the cladding panels.

It is also important to carry out the crate in such a way that all the perimeters of the walls are framed by it - there should be no hanging ends of the plastic plates. In those places where they will be located, the frame will need to be strengthened, for which additional bars are attached to the screws to the ceiling and the lathing battens.

Mineral wool insulation

In order to additionally insulate a balcony or loggia, the resulting space between the wall and the cladding can be filled with heat-insulating material, for example, lay it with insulating mats. Even before the installation of the frame, it is possible to stick on the walls, for example, penofol for reliable thermal and waterproofing.

Installation of plastic panels

The panels are laid end-to-end, while their seam is almost invisible. The order is as follows:

  1. The first PVC panel is mounted from the corner of the loggia. It is attached to the crate with self-tapping screws with a press washer in the groove for attaching the next plate.
  2. The rest of the plastic plates are mounted in the same way, and the latter must be cut lengthwise with a construction knife to the desired width. The junction with the side wall will be closed with a finishing or corner profile.
  3. After finishing one side, a starting profile is attached to the crate to carry out the same work on the adjacent wall. From the inside, it is also fixed with self-tapping screws with a press washer.
  4. Clamps for fixing plastic panels

  5. Next, the first slab of the adjacent wall is inserted into the groove of the starting profile, pushed tightly into it, aligned and fixed.
  6. Subsequent plates are attached in a similar way.
  7. We sheathe the ceiling

Next, the ceiling of the loggia or balcony is sheathed. Before starting it, you need to fix the mounting plate ceiling plinth, which will be used to mask the gaps at the junction. The mounting bar is a plastic 90-degree angle, one side attached to the crate. Its other side is made with a special groove designed to snap the ceiling plinth into place.

Mounting the frame on the ceiling

The bar should be fastened strictly around the perimeter with self-tapping screws with a press washer in the middle of the frame bar in increments of about 25 cm. Next, we begin the installation of panels directly:

    1. We slide the first plastic panel into the recess between the plank and the plinth;
    2. We align it and fasten it to the laths of the crate with self-tapping screws with a press washer;
    3. We snap the next panel into the groove of the previous one and, in the same way, we fix it on wooden slats with self-tapping screws;
    4. In the right place, do not forget to bring out the lighting wire, for which drill a hole in one of the panels with a drill before installing it;
    5. The last panel must be cut lengthwise to the desired width either with a special knife for plastic panels, or with a grinder, or with a fine-toothed saw;
    6. In those places where the panel should be attached to the crate, it is necessary to pre-drill holes;
    7. Fastening is carried out in the manner described earlier, after which the last panel is mounted on self-tapping screws in pre-prepared holes.

We fasten the panels to the bars with self-tapping screws

A wide selection of the most modern finishing materials makes it possible for each consumer to purchase the best option for himself in all respects. This must be done consciously, clearly presenting the advantages and disadvantages of each of them. In this article, we will talk about only one material - PVC plastic panels for balconies.

In areas with an unfavorable climate, the importance of cladding balconies with simultaneous insulation increases significantly, and the requirements for the quality of panels also increase. Depending on your wishes and architectural features buildings, balconies can be upholstered only from the outside, only from the inside or from both sides. At the same time, glazing is installed on the balconies first. A balcony converted in this way can easily be attached to living quarters, thereby increasing the useful area of the kitchen, hall or bedroom, depending on which room it adjoins.

  1. Internal lining. All construction works conducted with inside, the outer surfaces remain intact. Not a very popular method, the appearance of such a design leaves much to be desired. It is used only in cases where insulation is not done.
  2. Outer skin. This method can be found more often, but among young developers this option is not considered acceptable. It is also used only when arranging a cold balcony. If from the outside the balcony is ennobled, then from the inside, few people are satisfied with its appearance.
  3. Complex upholstery. Materials are fixed both from the outside and from the inside of the structure. The most popular method at present, allows you to create warm rooms, significantly improves the microclimate on the balcony. It is possible to make a warm floor on it, install furniture, eliminate the wall between it and the adjacent living space.

Plastic panels for the balcony are produced by numerous companies, there is still no single common standard. Everyone is guided by their own specifications best suited to the capabilities of the available equipment. Most often, the length is 2.7 meters, the thickness is 10 mm, but these dimensions can vary widely. The color, texture of the front layer, the type of castle, etc., for the most part, are not regulated.

First of all, you need to pay attention to the maximum and minimum operating temperatures, resistance to hard ultraviolet radiation, thickness and type of lock. This physical characteristics materials. As for design indicators, there is no universal recommendation here. Professionals advise to take into account the interior of the premises and the appearance of the facade of the building. Select material in such a way that it fits organically into existing design solutions. By color solutions the product range includes more than 180 types.

What to look for when choosing?

Advantages and disadvantages of PVC panels

If the manufacturer is conscientious, the material is of high quality, the equipment is modern, and the manufacturing technology is not violated, then PVC panels have much more advantages than disadvantages.

  1. Manufacturability of use. The panels are easy to install, the technology is almost no different from the installation of plastic lining.

The material is easily cut, fixed in several ways, from liquid nails to staples or special plastic clamps. The last method allows you to dismantle installed panels without losing the original quality.

It is also possible to dismantle the fastening of the plates with brackets, but there will be traces in the places of the first fixation. Although they do not affect the possibility of reuse, but the original quality in the strict sense of the word is lost. During work at proper organization almost no construction debris is generated during the process.

Installation of panels - the work is not dusty and not the most tiring

  2. Durability of operation, good indicators of physical strength. The material is not afraid of prolonged direct exposure to moisture, if there are special innovative additives, then ultraviolet rays do not destroy the intermolecular bonds of plastic. Thereby long time plasticity is preserved, the risks of cracking under the influence of dynamic and static loads are minimized.

  3. Ease of care. The surfaces of PVC panels are cleaned with ordinary detergents, the use of expensive formulations is not required. Under normal operating conditions, it is sufficient to wipe the surfaces with a damp cloth once every six months.

  4. Environmental friendliness. Depending on the material of manufacture, the panels can be used for interior and exterior cladding.
  5. Good indicators of thermal insulation. The presence of internal air chambers prevents heat transfer. Sheathing with PVC panels further improves the heat saving performance.

  6. Low cost. Quite a significant advantage, stimulating many consumers to make the final choice.

Weaknesses: insufficient physical strength, flammability, in terms of safety it is difficult to attribute to completely environmentally friendly materials.

The technology of cladding balconies with PVC panels

The dimensions, material of manufacture and appearance of the texture should be selected depending on the place of use, interior design and financial capabilities. After a decision has been made on the types of panels and the method of finishing, you can proceed to the direct execution of work.

Step 1. Checking the condition of the parapet and the bearing reinforced concrete slab.

Most of the old balconies have metal parapets, bearing indicators for many years of operation. metal structures lost their original characteristics. They need to be removed completely or overhauled. The best option- instead of a metal parapet, put a fence made of foam blocks.

But the decision should be made on the spot by a professional master after evaluating many factors and taking into account the wishes of the owners. We recommend, if possible, to install foam blocks, they have low thermal conductivity, but the strength is sufficient to withstand the installation of glazing. In addition, it is very easy to attach PVC panels to them for finishing.

Step 2 Counting the number required material, measurement of surfaces, selection of the method of fastening panels.

What are the methods of fixing the panels?

Depending on the chosen method of fixation, purchase materials and additional elements. As an example, a lightweight option for finishing a balcony with PVC panels will be considered - along the parapet.

Step 3 Preparation metal frame. To do this, metal strips are welded to the parapet at certain distances, the strips are about 10 cm long, 2–3 cm wide, and ≈ 2–3 mm thick. The strips are installed on both sides of the parapet, while taking into account the thickness of the insulation. For most cases, a thickness of 10 cm is sufficient, this will have a positive effect on heat saving and not reduce the useful area of \u200b\u200bthe balcony.

Step 4 Holes Ø 5–6 mm must be drilled in metal strips to fix the rails. The rails are fastened with bolts, the nut must be tightened until the bolt head is completely sunk into the tree. If you wish, you can drill a hole under the head large diameter, the depth of the hole is equal to the thickness of the head.

Important. Reiki must first be installed on the outside of the parapet, then attached with a stapler polyethylene film for waterproofing, install insulation and only after that engage in the installation of rails from the inside.

As a heater, it is better to take foam plates of the appropriate thickness. They have high rates of heat saving, at the cost of the most affordable. And the amount of chemical compounds released into the air is not of great importance for balconies.

Step 5 Cut PVC panels to size, prepare end and corner strips. These additional elements must be purchased at the same time as the panels. Keep in mind that during cutting, the dimensions should only go minus (no more than 0.5 cm), but not plus.

If there is a desire or this is required by the technology for mounting large PVC panels, then instead of rails to metal strips, moisture-resistant plywood or OSB boards should be fixed. In the future, the fastening of the finishing skin is carried out using liquid glue.

Step 6. Work should start from one of the corners of the balcony and then move in a circle. Very carefully fix the first panel, carefully check its position with a level. If there is not enough experience, then it is recommended to check the correct spatial position of the plates after two or three rows.

PVC panels - trim strips (moldings)

Practical advice. If it is found that the plate is not in a vertical position, then the error should be corrected gradually. Move each next plate no more than one millimeter, otherwise the marriage will become noticeable. The casing is fixed with a stapler, the length of the staples is not more than 6 mm.

Carefully finish the installation sites of windows and doors, remember that the ends of the sheathing must necessarily have a stop, and not hang freely in the air.

Step 7 In the same way, sheathe the outer surfaces of the parapet. Pay attention to the tightness of the individual panels in the locks, do not allow gaps. For sheathing external surfaces, you need to purchase only materials that are resistant to UV rays. If you do not adhere to this rule, then after 2–3 years the outer skin will lose its plasticity and will crack at the slightest load.

Step 8 The ceiling is finished according to the same algorithm, if desired, insulation can be made.

If you plan to use the balcony as part of the room, then it is advisable to install additional lamps. Wiring must be pre-laid on the ceiling or wall under the sheathing. It is recommended to use modern economical lamps. Practitioners are advised to install at least one outlet on the balcony. If it is not currently needed, then no one can guarantee that it will not be needed in the future. For wiring, it is better to use the services of a professional electrician. Cables must be connected to junction boxes, and it is very difficult for an amateur to find them.

Video - Types of plastic panels

Loggias and balconies were used for household needs, but today the balcony is used as a separate room or recreation area.

For creating cozy balcony it is necessary to glaze the loggia, insulate, and sheathe it with finishing materials.

The article will discuss how to make the decoration of the balcony wall panels with your own hands.

Material Advantages

Craftsmen and other people call PVC paneling the same as plastic wall or ceiling decoration. The balcony is not a mandatory room and does not need to be repaired as a matter of priority, but despite this, Decoration Materials must be of good quality. Plastic panels have advantages due to which the material is popular. The table shows the advantages of design, and in contrast, the disadvantages of the material:

Advantages of wall decoration: Disadvantages of wall decoration:
Reasonable cost for families with average incomes. The main disadvantage is the possibility of easy damage to the plastic. Even accidentally hitting the panel with hard objects, the panel may break. With point pressure, the panels are deformed, plastic repair is not possible, only the replacement of panels.
Availability of material and ease of installation with your own hands. In addition, if you do everything yourself step by step, then if necessary it is also easy to disassemble for repair. If the plastic panels catch fire, then the release of toxic substances will begin, but almost any modern material has this minus.
Polyvinyl chloride is durable, with proper care it can last up to 50 years.
Facing does not rot, eco-friendly, washable chemicals, and also installed outside the house or apartment to make a slope.
The panels do not fade in the sun, which is suitable for a balcony.
Despite the monolithic appearance, there will be ventilation near the walls, so mold and fungus do not appear between the wall and the panels.
The panels are cellular, due to which heat is retained, external noise does not pass.
Large selection of colors and patterns.

How to choose material

Before decorating a balcony interior with sandwich panels, you need to know some rules for choosing a material:

  • Some manufacturers who do not pursue the quality of materials add a lot of chalk to the composition, after which the plastic panels begin to bend poorly, they are almost not flexible, due to which the panel immediately bursts.
  • When choosing, it is better to press down the panel with your finger, if a dent immediately appears, while it does not disappear from the material, then the plastic is thin, it will not work for a balcony and a loggia. If the material is elastic, solid, then the panels can be bought, the service life is long.
  • The structure of PVC panels is cellular, so there are ribs inside. The embossed material must be chosen correctly, the panel material is pressed from the end, if the rib breaks or pushes hard, then it is better to postpone the panel - this is a marriage. A quality product will be able to resist pressing, all that has to happen to the rib is deformation.
  • The price is affected not only by the quality of the plastic, but also by the size, namely the width and length of the slats. In some cases, thin exterior panels can cost more than thick ones. It all depends on the size of the plate.
  • When choosing a sandwich panel, you need to look at its surface from different angles. Such material should not let stiffeners through under the light, if they are visible, the product is of poor quality or there is a defect in the hands. In this case, the manufacturer simply saves on the composition.
  • White plastic is often sold, but it may have a gray tint, in which case the material is made from recycled materials.

When buying a large amount of plastic, you need to carefully look at the batch numbers, they must be the same, otherwise at the end of the work it is possible different shades skins.

Preparatory work

Before you spend interior decoration balconies with plastic panels with your own hands, you need to prepare the walls. The preparation guide is:

  1. The wall is cleaned from the old coating, for example, from paint, wallpaper and other materials.
  2. Next, you need to knock on the wall and ceiling to determine the voids. If there are dull sounds, then the parts are removed.
  3. All convex parts are removed and the wall is cleaned of dust.
  4. Pits, cracks and other defects should be covered with cement mortar and left for 3 days to dry completely.
  5. Before you start finishing with a wall panel, work is carried out with the floor. You can lay laminate or other decorative material perhaps make laying tiles.

At the end of the preparation, the walls are covered with a primer in 2-3 layers and left to dry. Application is carried out according to the instructions. Due to such a coating, mold and fungus will not appear on the wall. brick balcony and any other must be faced after glazing. To carry out the work, you will need a standard tool, as well as some Consumables:

  1. Starting profile for fixing panels.
  2. Connecting profile.
  3. F-shaped profile.
  4. Corners and skirting boards.
  5. Dowel.
  6. Self-tapping screws, staples, adhesives.

When everything is prepared, the decoration of the balcony with plastic panels begins.

How to fix products on the surface: photo and video

Panels for finishing the balcony inside are attached to the wall different methods. The easiest way is to use liquid nails, but the option is suitable if the ceiling and walls are almost even, without serious defects and blockages. Such material can serve as long as it serves adhesive composition. Choosing this option, you need to choose the right glue.

The second method is the use of crates. In this case, we are talking about a crate made of a metal profile. This method is suitable if the sandwich panel is installed on the ceiling and the frame needs to be strong and strong. Other methods are used for walls, which are cheap. Work with metal profiles complex but effective.

Some people use a frame made of plastic strips for wall decoration. A similar method is almost never used in home repairs, because installation requires experience and accuracy. Due to special clips, the installation of the crate on the walls is simplified.

The most popular option is the use of wooden slats. The method is inexpensive and relatively simple for a balcony and plastic installation. In this case, slats 50x20 are needed, as well as dowels. If a layer of waterproofing is laid, then the tree will not give deformations over time.

Mounting on a crate

Finishing the balcony with PVC panels step-by-step instruction on a wooden crate:

  • The balcony must be covered with waterproofing.
  • The slats are impregnated with oil or treated with PVA putty, which will protect the material.
  • Fastening to the walls or ceiling is carried out with dowels, but you can use long self-tapping screws.
  • The slats do not need to be immediately tightened strongly in order to correctly set the vertical in level, it may be necessary to use additional spacers under the slats.

  • You need to install the rails with a distance of about 50 cm, but fastening to the wall is carried out at certain levels, namely, at the lower level in the knee area, in the middle of the wall - the level of the belt and the upper point - the level of the head.
  • Can be attached to brick or other materials.
  • When externally and in terms of the level of the wall lathing is ready, insulation is carried out. Inserted into the finished cells of the frame insulation material, For example, mineral wool. Especially insulation is needed if the balcony is on the top or bottom floor.
  • Next, the vinyl panels are inserted into the starting profile and installed along the entire wall, fixing them in the grooves.

Using step by step instruction, it will be easy to finish the balcony, by analogy, the facade and facade elements of the house are made. Laminated material looks good on the walls of the balcony, for example, chipboard, although MDF can also be used. If outwardly the balcony needs comfort, then you can additionally install decor in the form of paintings and decorations on the walls. Step by step installation of panels on the balcony can be seen in the video at the end of the article.

Glue installation

Installation of panels on the walls of a balcony without a frame is very simple. Additional fasteners are not needed, and wall markings are also not done. Materials need glue. The adhesive material is applied to the plastic panels, after which they are pressed against the wall, which is pre-prepared. The rest of the adhesive material must be immediately removed from the panels, since then it needs to be cut.

The subsequent installation of the panels is carried out by analogy with the adhesive material, but each panel should be brought into the lock. In a similar way, it will turn out to finish all the walls, corners and other parts are closed with decorative corners. Ceiling mounting carried out in a similar way. In this case, the standard balcony decoration with plastic panels is presented, but there are certain rules that should be considered during the installation of the material:

  1. The junction points of the plastic, as well as the walls, are made out with a plastic start to hide the transitions.
  2. The junction of the panels and the floor is closed with skirting boards, and it is recommended to close the corners with special plastic profiles.

This way of finishing the balcony is quite simple, but it will not work to insulate the walls, and if the balcony is in Khrushchev, then this is very important. In addition, tearing the panel from the wall will be difficult without damaging overall design and design. On the balcony, you can lay a cork rug on the floor, which is not only warm, but also beautiful, this can be seen in the photo on the Internet.

Spring is a time of renewal, when every owner wants to bring an element of novelty into his home. Now is the best time to start good finish do-it-yourself balconies The most common options for sheathing a loggia are plastic panels or lining.

High-quality finishing of a spacious loggia is not such a laborious task as it seems at first, even a novice who performs such work for the first time can do it. First you need to get everything you need for further finishing work.

Necessary construction tools, materials

To make a high-quality finish on the balcony with your own hands, you will need the following: Building tools, Consumables:
- standard PVC panels, and they will need 10% more than the volume that was calculated for the cuts;
wooden bars to create guides;
- small metal nails, reliable brackets - fixing panels;
- self-tapping screws, dowel nails;
- a good building level, a tape measure for the implementation of the necessary calculations;
- saw, hammer.
This is the most basic thing that you will definitely need in the process of self-plating the balcony.

Preparatory stage

After the required materials have been purchased in advance, you can proceed to the thorough preparation of the loggia. If the temperature on the balcony is not suitable for the living room, then it must be well insulated, glazed, and only then begin to install panels.

You also need to make sure that the walls, the ceiling of the balcony are perfectly even, you can check the usual building level. As alternative you can use durable drywall sheets with good moisture resistance. It is very important to prepare a balcony for sheathing, because the course of further actions depends on it.

Installing the base of the skin - wooden rails

Sheathing the loggias of the balcony with wall panels is carried out on installed guides, for this wooden beams are suitable. They are placed in a vertical position on the wall, fixing reliable dowels with self-tapping screws. Leading guides are installed from below, from above, observing the optimal distance of 40-50 cm from each other.

It is very important to install evenly, so it is worth checking the level of each nailed bar. The bars here need standard ones: 40 by 20 mm. Those who seek to make insulation on the balcony with their own hands can stock up on bars 50 mm thick, perfect for all kinds of thermal insulation materials. After all the main guides are fixed, you need to proceed directly to the sheathing of the loggia itself.

Finishing the balcony with PVC panels

Now you can attach the trim panels to the rails. Where to start fastening: from the walls or the ceiling, there is not much difference here.

You need to cut the plastic panels to fit. Next, insert the lower end into the grooves, carefully hold the top with your hand, bend it. We insert the upper end into a suitable groove, after a light slap by hand, a characteristic click, you can be sure that the first panel is firmly seated. Similarly, we attach the remaining panels to the balcony. But the last, penultimate panels are not inserted immediately. They are fixed to each other with reliable tongues. 3-4 drops of ordinary building silicone are poured into the finishing box, where the last board is inserted all the way.

It remains only to fix the previous panel. It must be cut across the entire width by 1 mm so that it fits as tightly as possible. We fasten the penultimate board, slightly pulling it with our fingers so that it goes above the last one. After the last board has sat down, you need to wait a couple of days for the silicone poured into the box to solidify. Now we can say that we got a solid monolith that looks attractive.

If the balcony cladding is made with asymmetrical panels, they move tightly and are fastened with special press washers.

As an addition, you can beautifully decorate the corners of your loggia with the help of various metal corners, you can mount it on a finished sheathing frame. Special plugs can give the corners of the balcony a neat appearance.
