Installing an interior door without unnecessary problems with your own hands. Rules for installing interior doors What is needed for installing interior doors

Installation interior doors– a very important process in renovating an apartment or private house. It is quite simple and does not require special skills, but it is still worth recognizing that making doors strong, reliable and durable is a very important job that should be approached as responsibly as possible.

At what stage of renovation are doors installed in an apartment?

Of course, before starting to install interior doors, their owners have many different questions: how to do this, which doors are better, how to make them more durable and reliable? Probably one of the most, very basic and very first - at what stage of the renovation are doors installed in the apartment?

In fact, there may be several options here:

  • The first option is best considered when the doorway is planned to be expanded in the future. In this case, the door installation process should be completed before finishing rooms. This is done with the aim that during such an action as installing a door, a lot of a large number of dust, and it, like the ceilings and walls, will not be able to remain clean.
  • The second option is worth considering when the door already exactly fits the dimensions of the doorway. In this case, it would be best to install the doors after the ceilings and walls are finished. Then new door will not be damaged during repair work.

  • And finally, the last case, the third, is after wallpapering, as well as processing and washing the ceilings, floors and walls. This will also help keep all furniture, doors and the room itself clean.

Which ones are better to insert and from what material?

The second question that owners of renovated apartments have before installing doors concerns the material of manufacture and the type of door itself. In fact, there is no single correct answer to this question, since something individual will suit each person and each apartment. But in this article we will try to weigh the pros and cons of each door option from each material.

The choice of an item for an apartment or house, such as a door, depends on several parameters:

  • The first is, of course, the price. It varies from each company, the quality of the material and the product itself. For example, the cheapest and affordable option is a door made of cellular material, which usually costs around a thousand rubles. The most expensive and “elite” option is a solid solid wood and a door made from it; it costs about 20 thousand rubles, which is quite expensive. Of course, there are also intermediate price categories: for example, a door made of sheet metal costs 4,500 rubles in most cases, which is quite acceptable.
  • The first parameter also implies the second – the material of the product. About honeycomb material, solid wood and leaf material has already been said above. The first, due to its cheapness, is of the lowest quality, the second is of very high quality, reliable and durable, while sheet (or typesetting) canvas, MDF, chipboard, and laminated wood have average quality. The middle price category also includes doors with metal and glass.

There are also doors classified by material, such as: glass, eco-veneer:

  • The choice of door also depends on its design and color. Naturally classic, very simple designs will cost less in price and fit into the vast majority of interior styles, but at the same time they will not have much individuality and will not become a decoration for a house or apartment. So, it is a smart option to invest in a beautiful, distinctive door design, as it can make the atmosphere of your home even more cozy and pleasant. Do not forget that the combination of this product with the interior and style of the apartment is very important, and its incorrect selection can spoil the appearance of the house.
  • The next parameter is, of course, the design. Naturally, for the most part, the door has a classic, standard rectangular shape and average thickness, but it, like the shape, can vary. You need to focus on the width, height and other dimensions of the doorway, as well as, as in other cases, on the interior of the home. By design, doors can also be: double, sliding, sliding, double-leaf, hidden, hinged, folding, single-rail, on rollers, as well as telescopic and soundproof.

  • In the end, we came to the last parameter in order, but not in importance: company manufacturer. A lot can also depend on it, since different companies offer different assortments and quality, and also differ in price, sometimes very much. The best companies producing doors are Vladimir Door Factory, Verda, Alvero, Bravo and others.

What tools and materials will be needed?

Naturally, for such a process as installing an interior door, you will need a variety of special tools and materials. They must be purchased before this action. So, we will need:

  • hammer;
  • chisels (20 and 15-16 mm);
  • roulette;
  • level and crowbar;
  • screwdriver and screwdriver;
  • a hacksaw designed for woodworking;
  • miter box;
  • perforator;

  • drill;
  • milling machine (milling machine) and circular saw (if possible);
  • installation kit;
  • installation accessories;
  • planks;
  • Miter saw;
  • vacuum cleaner (for cleaning the room).

As for installation materials, we will need:

  • door leaf;
  • door frame and fittings (this includes locks, hinges, handles);
  • mounting foam;
  • wedges;
  • nails, dowels and several self-tapping screws.

Taking measurements

Step by step we approached the work itself. And the first step on the path to the result will be measurements - a very important step.

So, we need several measurements. The first, as you might guess, is the width of the doorway: it determines the size of the door itself. If the doorway itself has yet to be built, you must take into account the size of the furniture that will be carried through it in the future. An error in choosing the size can make it very difficult to repair and rearrange furniture in the future., although sometimes custom sizes are acceptable and possible.

Next is the next step. First you need to treat the door block with a primer, before that you clean it with sandpaper. Before the next step, you should try on the future door in the opening to check its size, as well as the direction in which it opens. In addition, we will need a level: with its help we will need to measure and check the level of verticality and horizontality and, by measuring the diagonals, make sure that all right angles in the structure are respected.

After all these installation measurements, you can proceed directly to the work itself.

Preparing the opening

Preparing the doorway is one of the most important stages in this work. Below we discuss in detail how to do it carefully and correctly:

  • To begin with, you should evaluate the door leaf. In other words, you must first remove it from its hinges old door, if there is one; if not, then this step, naturally, is not required.
  • Everything needs to be removed door frames, but from those voids that were formed between the opening and door frame and filled insulating material, should be gotten rid of.
  • After all these actions, cuts are usually made in the places of the side parts of the door frame, while moving from top to bottom. The next step is to destroy the lower and then the upper elements of this very box. Then do the same with the upper and lower bars.

  • Among other things, preparing the opening includes adjusting it to the dimensions of the door itself, which is very important for its reliability. Increasing the opening usually does not cause any particular difficulties, while expansion will require the use of devices such as a hammer drill and a grinder.
  • In the event that we need to reduce our opening quite significantly, we will need a brick. If the size is slightly reduced (to about 50 mm), you just need to install a frame in it. It can be made either from metal or from a regular corner.
  • This structure then needs to be leveled, the gaps in it filled, and treated with cement mortar, if necessary.
  • A problem may arise that the opening loses its appearance. Then it should be leveled and plastered again. In any case, you should always very carefully check the condition of the doorway, its evenness and other parameters.

How to assemble the product yourself?

When we purchase furniture from a construction or furniture store, the purchase most often does not represent a structure completely ready for installation, but a set of many large elements that you need to work with later on yourself. For beginners who are unprepared in this matter, the question often arises at first: how to assemble the product yourself?

The main problem with this work is this: the cuts and connections of the door components are often unusual and have a specific structure, which can significantly complicate the entire process. But even this problem has its own solution

This article presents the simplest possible interior door assembly diagram:

  • First of all, you should place it on the floor (or necessarily on another flat surface) door frame timber, placing it around the door leaf.
  • Next, you need to create a gap between the door and this same canvas; here you will need cardboard from the packaging. Afterwards, it is necessary to attach the blanks of the upper crossbar to the upper ends of the frame bars, and very accurately measure the parameters of the lintel.
  • The next step is creating cuts. They are best made with a hacksaw that has fine teeth and specially designed for carving on metal surfaces.

  • At the next, fourth stage, you need to attach the upper part of the structure to the bars, lay the cardboard so that a gap is formed. Next, we cut off the profile, if it interferes with the connection of the elements, we screw the screws into the places for them.
  • Final stage– leave a gap (about 0.8-2 cm in size). By analogy, we create the necessary threshold.

How to install the hinges correctly?

Installing hinges on an interior door - milestone, having many individual subtleties and nuances. Before this work, which includes such subtleties as insertion, installation of overhead hinges (as well as non-separable, non-mortise and simple canopies) you should also definitely check out correct instructions installation of hinges so that the future design is reliable and serves the owner long and faithfully.

This article describes one way to install hinges, it’s called the artisanal method. It is medium in complexity, but very reliable and promises durability to the product, in addition, it allows you to conveniently adjust the height of the hinges:

  • So, first you need to mark the groove. To do this, you need to attach the canopy to the end of the floor (or box) and circle it using a simple pencil, there is no difficulty in this.
  • Second step: edging using a hammer and chisel. The entire groove must be edged, very smoothly and efficiently.

  • The last stage: cutting out the groove with a chisel. This process requires extreme care and accuracy, because even a slight careless movement of the hand can ruin the appearance of the door surface. There are others alternative ways installing hinges. For example, a professional method that usually only professional workers can implement with their own hands, but the quality of this method is worth it.

As for what you can create with your own hands, there are several ways. Firstly, this is the installation of hinges without insertion. Secondly, non-standard, but very convenient pin hinges. Thirdly, screw-in hinges, although they do not have the most aesthetic appearance.

Mounting options

Ease of use depends on many different nuances. One of them is the method of fastening the door and There are several such ways:

  • The first known option for fastening a door is the so-called frame system. Its essence is that the door is placed in a steel frame and can be moved by installing a groove on wheels.
  • The second option is a rail system, the difference from the first is that instead of wheels or rollers, special rails are used here. They are very reliable and easy to use.

  • There are also other methods and options. These include the well-known installation on hinges, as well as such unusual ways, as an option without screws or also without anchors. There are a large number of options for fastening doors, and everyone can choose something to suit their taste.

DIY installation: step-by-step instructions

Do-it-yourself door installation includes your own technology, diagram, and installation procedure in accordance with GOST. It has its own standards and nuances that must be known and observed, regardless of whether it is installing a box, cladding without additional elements or with them, and so on.

Box installation

So, this process has already been discussed in detail above. It is only worth mentioning that this type of repair installation work is one of the most important when installing and installing any door, because it can actually be considered the basis of the structure. It is very important to accurately take all the necessary measurements, perform the work carefully and follow safety precautions.

Proper installation of the box is the key to a reliable, strong structure.

How to insert with extras?

Extensions are two vertical posts and 1 horizontal bar, the purpose of which is to increase the size of the so-called coverage area of the box. That is, they are simply expanding it.

Such products are usually made from solid wood, as well as from materials such as MDF and fiberboard.

The operation sequence is not very complicated, but such an operation can help in many cases, for example, for installing awnings:

  • So, first of all, you need to use milling machine Make a groove in the timber along the entire door frame, along its perimeter.
  • Next, the false slopes need to be attached with glue and then strengthened this design using self-tapping screws.

  • The next step is to attach the false slopes to the timber, and place the panel located at the top on the remaining vertical elements.
  • In the middle of the work, you need to mate the already enlarged box, install it in the already made opening, for this we use self-tapping screws, as well as spacer wedges.
  • Finally, wedges need to be placed around the perimeter of our door. The distance between the door frame and the door itself must be filled with special foam, and the excess must be cut off. Ready!

Self-set threshold

There are two ways to install a door part such as a threshold. The first is called open, the second, respectively, closed. The first method is quite simple, but still does not look very aesthetically pleasing:

  • In this method, first of all, a hole is drilled openly, in which the fasteners are then fixed.
  • Then the threshold itself is laid and fixed at several points using self-tapping screws.

Although the first method is many times faster, the result after the second one looks much more beautiful and aesthetically pleasing:

  • First of all, we screw the first part of the threshold to the floor using several self-tapping screws.
  • The next step is decoration; we insert the bottom strip into the resulting grooves.
  • Another option is to attach the decorative strip with regular glue. This completes setting the threshold.

How to level?

Correcting errors such as unevenness in the design is very important. After the unevenness has been assessed, the door has been removed and re-measured in all respects, you need to start directly with the work itself:

  • If there are gaps between the floor and the door itself, the first step is to apply a level approximately 1.2-1.4 meters wide across the door opening. This will help level the surface.
  • Also, sometimes leveling the carpet, if present, can help in this case.
  • At the end of the work, it is necessary to hang the door again and check its condition

How to seal the cracks?

Gaps between the door and the frame are a common problem that many owners of apartments and houses are forced to struggle with. You can deal with it using ordinary polyurethane foam, but it is better to choose a higher quality and more expensive one in order to preserve the quality of the work performed longer.

There are also options such as the most common foam rubber and even moss! Another way: insulation materials sold in any hardware store.

Mounting nuances

Mounting a door, like any other repair work related to furniture, has There are many different nuances that door owners should definitely pay attention to:

  • For example, to install a door in a deep or very large opening, you need to purchase either additional accessories or install a second door structure as well. Also in this case, it is worth considering the option of purchasing and installing heavier doors.
  • In order to correctly, reliably and efficiently install the door on the corner of the room, you need to take into account that the frame needs to be installed at a special required angle, you should also pay special attention to cutting the brick into the brick opening and fastening the structure of this very box, as this may cause some problems Problems.
  • With different wall thicknesses, it is necessary either to make all measurements very accurately, or to align them before installing the door or mounting it.

  • IN panel house When choosing materials and structures for the work itself, it is worth paying special attention to internal expanded clay concrete wall panels.
  • Set up a doorway load-bearing wall– the task is very difficult and during this process one should not forget these important points: the material used to build a house or create an apartment, the layout of the room and apartment or house as a whole, the condition of the ceilings, as well as the thickness and other parameters of the wall.

Installation in some cases is a very difficult type of work, but by following these tips, you can handle everything perfectly and without much difficulty.

Finishing

Decorating is a very simple, practical and convenient way to decorate and transform an interior door or even the entire interior of an apartment, house or cottage. There are several main types of finishing of interior doors: installation of structures such as slopes, decoration and installation of the door frame, or door leaf, installation of platbands and, finally, finishing with laminate.

Finishing slopes is not the most difficult, but the dirtiest and most unpleasant type of design. It will require a primer, different types putties (starting and finishing), corners, mesh for plasters. Using these tools you need to putty and clean the door and its slopes.

Designs that can decorate and transform a door beyond recognition are the door frame, trim, and door leaf. These options, as a rule, do not take much time and effort, but still require extreme care, patience and adherence to special rules.

How to check if the installation is correct?

In order to check that the door is installed correctly, you need to perform several simple, but at the same time very important actions for its further operation:

  • The door should not creak under any circumstances, the hinges should move easily and stand firmly, and opening the door should not present any difficulties.
  • When opening the structure to an angle of any size, it must stand straight, not wobble, or deviate.
  • It is necessary to conduct a very careful external inspection of the door, check it in operation, and carefully examine every detail of the design.

Beautiful interiors

There are a huge variety of different interior options for interior doors. For example, a door in a white, light, neutral color is perfect for bright rooms or apartments with a minimalist design. Bright, for example, red doors will fit perfectly into non-standard interiors.

In any country house or apartment, the question of replacing or installing interior doors may arise. The large assortment of doors offered on the market allows you to choose a product in accordance with your taste, the design of the room and the state of your wallet. You can trust installers to install doors for a fee, or you can save money and install the door panels yourself.

Installing the canvas is not a very difficult task, but it does require some knowledge and skills. Before installing any structure, you need to know what it consists of. The door block consists of the following parts - frame, door leaf, fittings, platbands.

If the width of the wall is greater than the inserted door block, then it can be used additional element, additional

The most common materials from which interior doors are made are MDF, laminated chipboard and a tree. Exist various designs, but swing doors are more popular.

The procedure for assembling and installing the door:

  • Assemble the door frame;
  • Secure the hinges to the door leaf and frame beam;
  • Insert the door frame or block into the opening;
  • Install fittings (handle, latching mechanism);
  • Install platbands.

You can install the fittings yourself, but if you are not confident in your own abilities, then in order not to damage the doors, it is better to trust the professionals. The installation sequence may vary.

Correct installation of interior doors

To install interior doors from scratch, in addition to desires and skills, you will need some tools and devices. In addition, you will need polyurethane foam and a gun. To cope with the installation of a heavy structure, an assistant is needed for moral and real support.

What tools are needed to complete the work:

  • Screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • Level;
  • Wood saw, jigsaw or circular saw;
  • Chisel;
  • Drill;
  • Fastening elements: self-tapping screws, finishing nails, anchors and others.

Door frame elements and trims are often cut at an angle of 45ᵒ. To perform this operation accurately and accurately, a miter box is used. Before installing new interior doors, you need to check the condition of all elements, their coating, and the availability of components. If defects are discovered after installing the door block, then it will be almost impossible to prove anything.

Instructions: how to install an interior door

Before installing an interior door, it is a good idea to read the instructions with pictures and use some professional advice in your work. First of all, you need to assemble the door frame. It can consist of 4 parts or be U-shaped. This depends on the availability of flooring. The frames are produced in universal sizes for doors from 600 to 900 mm, so the frame elements have to be trimmed. Carrying out the work requires care and precision.

Instructions for assembling the door frame:

  1. Cut off long elements. Take into account the size of the gap between the door leaf and the floor covering (for residential premises 10 mm) and the thickness of the floor covering.
  2. Cut off the top element. On the side of the door leaf, the size is equal to the width of the leaf itself plus 7 mm. Using a miter box, cut the elements at an angle of 45ᵒ.
  3. If a threshold is provided, then the elements from below are sawn off perpendicularly. It is also possible to wash down the upper elements at 90ᵒ.
  4. To connect elements, especially for doors made of MDF, it is necessary to drill holes at an angle of 45ᵒ using a drill with a diameter of 2.5 mm; separately in a long element you need to drill holes measuring 4.5 mm. Connect the elements with self-tapping screws.

Next, you should attach the door leaf to the assembled frame, keeping the gap between the frame and the door at 2.8 mm. To establish a gap, packaging cardboard can be used. If the door is double-leaf, then the distance between the two halves should be at least 4 mm.

Only after determining the side and direction of opening the door, you need to mark the place where the hinges are attached.

Usually they are placed at a distance of 20 cm, receding from the top and bottom of the door leaf. The third loop is attached at intervals of 46 cm from the top. Hinges have their own characteristics that must be taken into account during installation. If necessary, the place for attaching the “flag” of the loop is prepared using a chisel. Depending on the design of the hinges, the methods of attaching them may be different.

Installation options for interior doors

The next step is to insert the door frame into the opening. Technology may vary. If the opening is too wide, you can reduce it by attaching a wooden beam to the wall with anchors on the side where the hinges are located.

You can insert a whole block, together with the canvas or a separate box, then spacers will be required. The size of the spacer should take into account the technological distance between the bottom of the door and the frame; 6 mm should be added to the width of the door leaf. If the frame is installed separately, after hanging the door the size of the gap must be checked. It should be the same everywhere. If necessary, adjustments are made.

The box is fixed in the opening using wedges. First, the upper wedges are clogged, and then, after checking the level of the box, the lower ones. The distance between the box and the wall is filled with foam. To avoid staining surfaces, use masking tape. When the foam dries, the wedges are removed and the protruding part of the foam is cut off.

Door frame installation methods:

  1. The box is secured using 6-8 self-tapping screws of the required length using the through method (wooden spacers can be used).
  2. For fastening, use 3-4 points in the places where the fittings are inserted, which hides the screws.
  3. Dowels, long bolts and nuts are used as fasteners, and mounting strips are attached to the box. The whole process is regulated by level. In this case, wedges are not used.

The installation stage of the platbands is no less important than the previous ones and requires care. To install the platbands, you need to measure the length of the platband, cut the platband using a miter box at an angle of 45ᵒ, attach the platband with nails, having previously drilled holes at the fastening points measuring 1/2 or 2/3 of the diameter of the nail.

Installation of fittings can be carried out at different stages.

In some cases, all the fittings are cut in after installing the door block. The door hardware includes: 2 or 3 hinges, handles with latches and a locking mechanism. The location of the handle is determined individually, standard requirements 0.8-1.3 m from the floor.

Let's figure out how to install the door correctly

You must install the door yourself in compliance with building regulations. At correct installation there should be no distortions. The canvas should not open on its own if it is not held by a lock, or close. A correctly installed door should close smoothly with a slight push when open.

The quality of door installation depends on the following reasons:

  1. Correctly taken measurements, according to which they are manufactured door block. To take measurements of room openings, it is better to invite a specialist.
  2. Working conditions (temperature, humidity). It is advisable to install the canvas after all work is completed and the floor and walls are completely dry.
  3. All required clearances must be observed.
  4. All structural parts must be installed level, even if the walls are not level.

To keep interior doors in good condition, you need to use furniture care products and avoid exposure to aggressive substances. To process wooden door, mastic can be used.

Correct installation of interior doors with your own hands (video)

Installing interior paintings yourself seems like a difficult task. But, if you do the work in compliance with all the necessary norms and rules, this task is doable. By approaching the matter with due diligence, you can save your budget and gain valuable work experience. The result will definitely justify all the efforts. Beautiful doors into the room will become an interior decoration.

Self-assembly and installation of interior door units does not require highly qualified or special skills from the performer. Serial connection of parts in accordance with the instructions and careful installation in doorway will allow you to get a satisfactory result even with the efforts of a beginner. You just need to stock up necessary tools and patience.

Methods for installing interior doors

You can install a door between rooms different ways. It all depends on what its design is and what material the door block is made of. A significant role in choosing one installation method or another is played by its intended purpose. If this is, for example, a door to the living room, then special strength is not required. But if the door separates the passage corridor from the server room, in which high-sensitivity devices or units with voltages exceeding 1000 volts are located, then in the interests of safety it is advisable to install a high-strength door. Accordingly, the installation method in the second case must meet completely different requirements.

There are the following ways of fastening the door block in the opening.

  1. Fixing the frame on the mounting foam. The easiest, but not the most reliable way to install. Suitable for lightweight doors made of small fiberboard or MDF.

    When dry, the polyurethane foam firmly glues the door frame to the wall opening

  2. Installing the door frame on brackets. As a rule, everything plastic doors(as well as windows) are mounted in exactly this way. Metal plates are used as brackets, which are used for suspended ceilings. The thickness of the direct suspension ranges from 1 to 1.5 mm, so the mount is quite rigid. The main disadvantage of this method is the need to plaster the place where the bracket is attached. The method is applicable when the walls have not yet been finished.

    Ceiling hanger is used as a bracket to fix the door frame

  3. Hidden installation, i.e. fixing the door frame under the hinges in three places. The rest of the space is filled with foam. The result is a fairly strong and invisible mount to prying eyes. The frame suspension points are located in the following order:
    • two - under the hinges;
    • one is under the counter lock plate.
  4. End-to-end method. Installation is carried out using screws or anchors. Holes are drilled in the frame through which it is attached to the wall. Typically, two to four fixation points are used on each vertical rack and from one to two - on vertical crossbars. To prevent the holes from being visible, they are covered with plastic plugs on top. This fastening is considered the most durable and is used for heavy doors, including metal and armored ones.

    With direct fixation, the frame is firmly attached to the wall and can support a heavy and powerful door

  5. Fixing the door frame on hinges. A new method developed relatively recently. Its essence is that the box is suspended on special hinges. Anchors are installed at the ends of the opening and screwed onto the frame metal hinges. During installation, the loop is placed on the head of the adjustable bolt. This method is good in cases where the doorway is uneven. Installation is very fast.

    A set of simple fasteners allows you to install the door in a matter of minutes

In practice, several methods are often used simultaneously, and they also combine and combine fixation methods depending on the specific situation. In any case, polyurethane foam is almost always used today; it serves not only as fasteners, but also as a heat-insulating and sound-absorbing layer.

What is required to install an interior door

As with any other installation work To successfully install interior doors, you need special tools and consumables.

Required Tools

Getting started self-installation interior doors, you need to equip yourself with the appropriate tools:

  • electric drill with a set of attachments (for screws with various slots);
  • a set of wood drills (the larger the range, the better);

    A distinctive feature of a wood drill is its sharp tip.

  • hammer drill (if fastening is carried out on anchor devices);
  • electric or hand furniture saw ( perfect option- miter circular saw);

    Using a miter saw, blanks for the door frame, trim and additional elements are quickly and efficiently prepared

  • Pobedit drills or drills for concrete (diameter 4 and 6 mm);
  • miter box, a set of chisels of different widths;

    The miter box is designed for cutting parts at different angles.

  • measuring tool - hydraulic level, tape measure, square, etc.;

    The accuracy of measurements during the assembly of interior doors is reflected in the quality of their further operation.

  • knife, pencil, marker.

You will also need consumables:

What cutters are needed to install interior doors

If you have the opportunity to purchase or rent a router, you should definitely take advantage of it. By using hand router sampling for hinges and locks is significantly faster. There is no need for chisels, and the quality of the grooves improves. In order to optimize the process, it is advisable to use small diameter cutters. Thanks to this, you will have to cut less wood at the corners by hand. For example, a cutter with a diameter of 9.5 mm is ideal for door hinges. To remove the lock, a groove cutter of appropriate length is used (to the depth of insertion of the locking device).

The main characteristics of a groove cutter include the height and diameter of its working part, as well as the size of the shank for clamping the router

The average installation time for one door for a professional carpenter is 2 hours. If the hinges and lock are cut manually without using a router, this time increases to 3 hours.

Box trim saw

A few words about electric saw. When installing one door, of course, there is no point in buying a “circular”, especially an end door. You can use a regular hand saw with a fine (furniture) tooth.

Using a saw with small, straight teeth, you can make even and clean cuts of parts.

But if there is construction or reconstruction of an entire apartment in which from 5 to 15 doors are installed, you can at least think about renting tools. The quality and speed of assembly using a miter saw increases several times. Much also depends on the type of doors and platbands. Some have to be customized required sizes, others require little to no cutting.

Preparing an opening for installing an interior door

The main task in preparation doorway is:

  • removing excess materials from the end of the wall (residues of polyurethane foam, plaster, broken bricks, etc.);
  • creating the correct geometric shape of the hole in the wall (rectangle, not trapezoid).

If the brickwork is in poor condition, it must be plastered with cement mortar.

In new buildings, doorways should theoretically have dimensions close to standard. However, in practice this does not always happen. In a house or apartment where reconstruction is taking place, the old doors must be dismantled before installing new ones. If the opening is damaged, it must be restored - leveled and plastered.

The quality of installation of the door block is influenced by the following geometric parameters of the opening.

Height

The height is measured from the “clean floor”, i.e. from the level of the finishing floor covering - laminate, tiles, linoleum, etc. It is necessary that the height is the same over the entire plane. A similar requirement is imposed on the floor - there should be no bumps or holes on it, especially if the door being installed does not contain a threshold in its design - all defects will remain visible. The height of the opening should be 6–7 cm greater than the vertical size of the door itself.

The dimensions of the doorway must take into account technological tolerances for installing the frame and the required installation clearances

Width

The width of the opening is subject to similar requirements - it must be the same along the entire height of the door. Vertical planes should be located at right angles to the floor and be parallel. If this is not the case, the sidewalls must be leveled. The width of the doorway is determined based on the width of the door leaf - 10 cm is added to it (5 cm on each side).

Thickness (or depth) of the opening

An important condition that must be observed when preparing the opening is that the end must have a rectangular shape. In the lower part, at the intersection with the floor, a right angle (90 °) should form. If the thickness of the walls is not the same, gaps will form under the platbands, which, in fact, is a marriage.

Do-it-yourself interior door installation: step by step instructions

Since the vast majority of doors in the surrounding life have a hinged design, we will consider the installation procedure using the example of a typical interior door.

The most common type of interior doors has swing mechanism opening

Rules and procedure for installing interior doors

Installation of a swing interior door is carried out in the following order.

  1. Development of a scheme for fastening the door frame in the opening. At this stage, it is necessary to clearly imagine (or better, sketch) the method of attachment. In our case, this will be fixation with self-tapping screws and polyurethane foam. It is also necessary to decide on the side into which the door will open. If there is no pre-conceived plan, the following hint will help solve the problem: in small rooms, such as a toilet, pantry and bath, it is customary to open the door inside. Exit to the corridors from large rooms It's better to do it outside.

    The most common way to fix the frame in a doorway is to install it using an anchor on mounting foam.

  2. Door frame installation. It is advisable to place the door that arrived from the store on a flat horizontal surface - a table, chairs or on the floor and unpack it. Assembly is carried out using 3.5 mm thick wood screws. Before screwing the self-tapping screw, it is necessary to drill a hole that will not allow the wood blank (Fibreboard, MDF, Chipboard) to split. A drill of a smaller diameter is used, in particular 3 mm. For the same reasons, it is not necessary to screw the screws close to the edge of the parts - the standard distance is at least 5 diameters, i.e. 1.5 cm. For reliable fastening of the horizontal strips of the door frame, four screws are enough - two on each side.

    When assembling the frame on the floor, place cardboard from the packaging under the box

  3. Trimming posts. Usually the door frame is sold with a height margin of 5–7 cm. After fixing the side parts, it is necessary to measure the exact size and cut off the excess. To do this, the height of the opening is measured and transferred to the frame. At the same time, it should be borne in mind that a technological gap of 2–2.5 cm should remain between the box and the wall. Such a backlash is needed so that the frame can be aligned horizontally and vertically inside the opening.

    The length of the side posts is adjusted after measuring the height of the opening

  4. Installing the frame in the doorway. If up to this point the door leaf was inside the box, then to install the frame into the wall, the sash must be removed. The frame is installed in the designated place and leveled using a level. Primary fixation is performed using plastic or wooden wedges. It is very convenient to use a set of thin wedges, with their help you can accurately align the box in all axes. It should be remembered that the racks of the box must be vertical in two perpendicular planes - from the side of the canvas and from the side of the wall. Proper operation of the door unit is 80% dependent on correct position door frame. A number of models of interior doors have a special decorative strip, which is disconnected and mounting holes are drilled under it. Upon completion of installation, the bar is put in place. To secure the frame with screws, you need to drill 3-4 holes with a diameter of 4 mm on each rack and transfer them to the wall with a pencil or marker. After this, the box is removed and sockets for dowels are drilled in the wall according to the markings. Do not forget that wood drills do not work in concrete. Brickwork drill with a hammer drill and a stone drill. The diameter of the drill is 6 mm, the size of the plastic sleeve. When the holes are ready and the dowels are inserted into the wall, the frame returns to its original position and is pre-fixed (“baited,” as the craftsmen say). Before the final tightening of the screws, the position of the vertical and horizontal parts of the box is checked again. Tightening is done in a circle, first tightening the screws half-heartedly, then with maximum force. In order not to overtighten the fasteners, during tightening the verticality of the racks is checked with a long two-meter level or rule.

    Use of construction laser level increases the accuracy of door frame installation

  5. Installing the door leaf on the hinges. Since we are considering a lightweight interior door made of MDF or fiberboard, one person can hang the door on its hinges. It is enough to lift the door above the awnings and carefully place the hinges on the axis. After this, the door leaf must be closed and checked for correct positioning. If the door is installed in compliance with all technological standards (3-4 mm gaps on each side), it will move inside the frame easily and without effort on the part of a person. When open, the sash will not slam shut spontaneously, and when closed, it will not open. If the purchased door does not have recesses for hinges, you will need to make them yourself. To do this, a cutter is inserted into the tool, the depth of immersion into the wood is adjusted, and a groove is selected according to a pre-marked size using a translational movement. The accepted location of the hinges is 20–25 cm from the upper and lower edges of the sash.

    The hinges are placed at the top and bottom at the same distance from the edges of the door leaf

  6. Filling the seams with polyurethane foam. This is a crucial moment, since such important door parameters as sound insulation and heat resistance depend on the filling density. It is better to use polyurethane foam with a low expansion coefficient. To speed up the setting and hardening of the polyurethane, the walls and door frame are moistened with water (sprayed from a spray bottle). Filling is done sequentially, from bottom to top, so that there are no voids left, but at the same time foam flakes do not fall on the floor. During the operation, it is advisable to cover the door with film, since prolonged contact with polyurethane can cause stains to appear on the laminated surface. As the foam dries, it increases in volume, so the seams are initially filled by 30–40%. After complete hardening (after 24 hours at an air temperature of 20 o C), the excess is cut off with a sharp knife. It is not recommended to open the door leaf during foaming and drying. It is advisable to insert pieces of packaging cardboard into the gaps (along the perimeter). This will prevent deformation and sagging of the frame if there is too much foam.

    It is better to fill installation gaps with foam from the bottom up, carefully treating the voids

  7. Doorway trim. Upon completion of the door installation, it is necessary to tidy up the opening. To do this, slopes or platbands are installed in it. For interior doors, finishing with slopes is rarely done (although this is also practiced, depending on the installation location and the function of the door). The most common type of finishing is platbands and extensions. If the size of the wall is small and the width of the door frame coincides with it, platbands are installed on both sides and the finishing of the opening ends there. If the width of the box is not enough to cover the wall completely, add-ons are used. With their help, the plane of the frame expands, and the platbands are no longer attached to the frame, but to the extensions. It’s interesting that designers sometimes deliberately select colors for the extensions that contrast with the color of the door. Such solutions are original in nature and emphasize the door as an element of the interior. Installation of platbands is carried out in several ways, depending on their design:
    • groove connection;
    • gluing to the wall;
    • hidden nails.
  8. Installation of accessories. The door handle and lock are usually included with the door. Or at least installation holes are prepared in the canvas. If they are not there, you need to mark the sash and use a router and electric drill to cut holes of the required size (for pre-purchased components). You should follow the instructions for installing the lock and door handle, which are included with the products. The approximate installation height of the door lock is 90–110 cm from the floor. The handle is mounted at the same height, 10–15 cm away from the edge of the door leaf.

    The method of installing a door lock depends on its design, and it is usually located at a height of 90–110 cm from the floor

The type of connection between vertical platbands and horizontal ones can be different - rectangular or diagonal. From an installation point of view, a rectangular connection is considered simpler. For a diagonal joint, it is important to accurately cut the workpieces at an angle of 45 degrees. For this, craftsmen use an end tool circular saw. But for small volumes, you can also use a carpenter’s miter box.

The diagonal connection of the platbands requires a perfectly even cut at an angle of 45 degrees, which is carried out using a miter box or a circular saw

Many modern models interior doors contain a rubber seal in their design. Its installation is most often carried out by gluing. Removable from the inside protective film, and the seal is carefully glued around the perimeter of the entire door leaf.

Installation of double doors

Double-leaf door blocks are a popular interior decoration. They fit especially harmoniously into wide doorways and emphasize the spaciousness of the room. Doors with two leaves are:

When assembling swing double doors, the algorithm remains the same as for a single leaf door. But there is one nuance associated with the door suspension. The first to be installed on the hinges is the sash with the latch, which is cut into the upper part of the leaf ahead of time. After installing the sash on the hinges, fix it with a latch and begin installing the other half of the door. In this way, the alignment of the canvases is achieved in relation to the frame and among themselves. The gaps adopted for a single-leaf door are also relevant for the double-leaf version.

The latch holds the door leaf in a stationary position

The sliding design of double doors is different in that it does not have a frame in the usual sense. The door leaves are supported by a suspended profile equipped with a rocker mechanism. Naturally, the installation of such a door differs from the assembly of swing structures. Installation is carried out on straight walls with sufficient space (space is needed for opening doors).

Around sliding door it is necessary to provide a reserve of free space for those leaving when opening the racks

Installation begins with the assembly and fastening of guide profiles (which can be either on top or below the doorway). Next, the procedure must be carried out in this sequence.

  1. Mounting brackets with fittings (carriages and movable rollers) on canvas.

    A diagram of fastening the door leaf to the rocker mechanism indicating the weight of the door leaf is attached to each product

  2. Installation of sashes on the hanging mechanism.
  3. Fastening stoppers (rubber opening limiters).

    Using the limiter, the free movement of the door leaf is adjusted to protect it from impacts on nearby objects and surfaces

  4. Installation of extensions and platbands on the doorway.
  5. Installation of additional door hardware (brushes, seals, grips).

On preparatory stage The wall plane is marked and leveled. This is important because the door leaves are constantly moving along the walls.

The main document that you need to read when installing sliding doors is the assembly instructions from the manufacturer. It reflects technical requirements installation instructions and basic operating rules.

Interior doors are usually installed after installation in the room. finishing works. In particular, it is not recommended to prime, plaster or paint the walls after installing the doors. High humidity negatively affects the wood-based material - deformation and bending are possible structural elements door block.

Installation of interior sliding doors

A sliding door is one of the options for sliding interior doors. Unlike a double-leaf design, an interior sliding door can be single-leaf, three-leaf or even four-leaf. Moreover, one or two canvases can move. Installation is carried out in the same order as for a sliding door in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

Sliding doors save space in small spaces

Installation of sliding door structures

A characteristic feature of sliding interior doors is the movement of the door leaf along a support profile located on the floor. Installation is carried out after finishing the floor. The guide profile is installed in parquet, laminate, ceramic tiles or other flooring. Often the door leaf is hidden in a wall cavity specially prepared for this purpose.

Before installing the sliding door, a false wall is built to hide the door

There are options for making a false wall or a plasterboard box for sliding interior doors. But in any case, the suspension mechanism remains identical to that of all other types of sliding doors.

Installation of sliding interior doors

Sliding interior doors save space in small rooms. But their installation requires certain conditions, the main one of which is the availability of space to move the door leaf. Sliding doors can be single-leaf or double-leaf. The supporting rocker mechanism is usually located on top, and a restrictive profile is mounted below, which prevents the canvas from swaying during movement.

When planning are used various options location of the leaf in the doorway

Installation of glass doors

Glass doors are a very original solution for interior decoration. Like doors made of other materials, they come in swing and sliding types. In private residential construction, the swing type is usually used glass doors. In general, the principle and procedure for their installation does not differ from the standard one, but there are several features.

  1. The glass door leaf cannot be adjusted to dimensions; it cannot be sawed or cut. Therefore, to avoid mistakes, doors are ordered after finishing walls and doorway (when the dimensions no longer change).
  2. Installing a door is not a task you can do alone. The weight of the glass sheet is usually from 50 to 70 kg; it is difficult and dangerous for one person to manipulate such a sash.
  3. A glass interior door is mounted on a wooden or metal frame.
  4. The durability of glass doors is limited only by the wear resistance of the hinges. Pendulum hinges are considered the most reliable.

To assemble the glass door hanger, mounting holes are cut in the door leaf at the factory.

Holes for installing hinges are cut at the glass door manufacturer. You need to drill holes for the lock and handle yourself, using a glass drill of the required diameter.

Holes in the glass are drilled with special drills at low speeds

The advantage of glass interior doors is their almost unlimited service life. Their appearance is not subject to mechanical or chemical influence, the strength of the glass block is comparable to the strength of metal. The only thing that needs to be monitored is the safety of the hinges and fittings. Timely lubrication and removal of contamination are two necessary conditions for long-term operation of glass interior doors.

Installation of fittings on interior doors

Installation of fittings is perhaps the most crucial moment in installing interior doors. It is when performing this part of the work that errors occur, leading to rapid breakdowns. Therefore, when starting self-assembly, you need to get ready for painstaking “jewelry” work. Mistakes are too expensive.

So, the accessories include:

All elements of fittings require precise insertion into the plane of the door leaf or frame, and this presents a certain difficulty for novice carpenters. The permissible error cannot be exceeded by more than 1 mm. Otherwise, there are no firm guarantees for the stable operation of the mechanisms.

Sampling is done manually (with chisels) or using power tools. At this stage of work, a manual electric router is used.

Thanks to its high-speed operation, the router makes neat and clean cuts in wood

Sequence of work

Installation of fittings on a swing interior door is carried out in the following order.

  1. Marking. Before you start cutting a hole, you need to determine the location of the hinges. As noted above, in order to evenly distribute the weight of the leaf, the hinges are located symmetrically 20–25 cm from the edges of the door leaf. The contours of the loop are drawn with a sharp pencil and circled around the perimeter with a knife, scalpel or semicircular chisel.

    It is desirable to outline the contour of the loop with a sharp pencil, a thin awl or a scalpel

  2. Arranging a seat for hinges. With a chisel, wood is gradually selected from the intended contour. It is necessary to control the groove depth within 2–3 mm. The accuracy of the cut is checked with a hinge - when it is applied to the specified place, the front part of the fittings must coincide with the surface of the end of the door. When selecting hinges in MDF doors, the manual method is ineffective; it is advisable to use a router with a small diameter cutter.

    The hinges should be flush with the surface of the fabric

  3. Preparing recesses in the frame. Having made the grooves and installed hinges in them, they proceed to the manufacture of similar seats in the door frame.
  4. Installing an interior door handle. The operation consists of cutting out a seat for the lock and a hole for installing a rotary handle. It is difficult to do without a router here, especially for a person who does not have carpentry experience. Using a long cutter, select a groove of a certain depth for the lock. A small cutter is used to cut out the countersunk for the lock escutcheon and the strike plate. To accurately determine the location of the locking tongue, it is smeared with a coloring substance (nail polish, chalk, paint) and released onto the frame. A hole in the counter plate is installed in the designated location.

    Making grooves for door lock carried out using a router

  5. Installation of the latch. It is carried out depending on the design of the locking element. As a rule, installing a high-quality latch involves cutting out a masking groove. The device is applied to the edge of the door leaf, its shape is outlined and a groove is cut along it.

How to check the correct installation of an interior door

Anyone who has to install interior doors for the first time asks questions: is the door installed correctly and what needs to be done to make it last long and properly. There is a comprehensive answer to them, which consists of two points.

  1. A sign of a correctly carried out installation are the same technological gaps along the perimeter of the entire canvas. This means that if the gap around the sash is the same size everywhere, the canvas is hung correctly.
  2. The door must pass a small test. When opening (and closing) the canvas, no extraneous sounds, creaks, or rustles (friction of one surface against another) should be heard. The sash moves easily, without any effort. If the hand stops, the canvas also stops; it should not move on its own.

If these two conditions are met, the door is installed in accordance with technical and operational standards.

Often the installation of an interior door is preceded by dismantling. Disassembly is carried out in the reverse order of assembly.

  1. Decor elements are detached - platbands and extensions. In this case, use a mount or a large screwdriver. decorative elements can be reused, so do not break them during dismantling. If these parts are kept intact, they can be painted, covered with laminated film and used when installing a new door.

    Platbands are removed using a pry bar or an ax

  2. The fittings - locks and handles - are removed from the door leaf. The lock is unscrewed from the end of the door leaf. The rotary handle mount is located on one side of the door (at the bottom of the lever).
  3. The door leaf is removed. To do this, the sash is opened at an angle of 90 o with respect to the frame and lifted by the lower edge using a crowbar, mount or other lever. After the canvas is removed from the hinges, the canopies can be detached and reused.

    To remove the canvas from the hinges, it is rotated 90 degrees and lifted using the lever

  4. The door frame is removed. To disassemble the frame with the least effort, it is necessary to determine the places of its fixation to the wall. Sometimes this is difficult to do in old doors, especially if the opening has slopes made of cement mortar. Then the usual one will come to the rescue electric jigsaw. If the frame is not going to be used in the future, it can be cut in cross section and separated from the wall piece by piece. This greatly speeds up the dismantling process. The top crossbar is also released in the same way.

    Using power tools speeds up door dismantling several times faster

If you do not have firm confidence in your abilities, of course, it is better to turn to professional installers, because correct assembly and installation is not the only, but a necessary condition for long-term operation of interior doors. But if you have at least a little experience in carpentry, and the operations described in this article do not give you any doubt about the possibility of repeating them, feel free to start installing the door yourself. You can save money and be absolutely sure of the quality of every action.

Interior doors are becoming increasingly popular due to their functionality. Such doors perfectly perform a variety of functions: they divide the space between rooms and provide heat and sound insulation. Right installed doors contribute to the fact that the room acquires an aesthetic appearance.

How are interior doors installed?

It should be noted that such a process as installing doors is not particularly complicated, but it cannot be called simple either. Even an untrained person can successfully perform such work, but it is necessary to take into account some nuances and follow certain rules. The main condition for installing interior doors is that such a process can only be carried out after the finishing work is completely completed.

Before installing the doors, they need to be thoroughly prepared, that is, “acclimatized.” It is necessary to do all the work in such a way that there are no surprises in the very near future. To do this, you need to leave the doors in the room where you plan to install the unit for about 5-7 days. It should be borne in mind that under no circumstances should doors be placed near radiators.

Before installation begins, it is necessary to properly prepare the door openings. In this case, special attention should be paid to the height and width (they should be 70 and 100 cm larger). After this, you can begin installation. You will need tools such as:

  • screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • mounting foam;
  • Miter saw;
  • roulette;
  • dosing gun;
  • building level.

It must be taken into account that installation must be carried out in a clear sequence, which must not be violated.

Preparatory work and fastening hinges

In this regard, special attention should be paid to the gaps; their value should be 10 mm.

Trimming should be done in the same place where the door is installed.

For this process, you need to use a miter saw, thanks to which it is possible to make the angles as accurate as possible. In order not to scratch the floor, you need to prepare a substrate.

As for attaching door hinges, here you also need to be absolutely precise. The first step is to determine the insertion points of the hinges, then they are securely fixed to the door frame and leaf. When installing hinges, it is advisable to install special keys. Then everything can be done with the utmost care and there will be no scratches. Everything must be done on at this stage very carefully, since any inaccuracy can lead to the fact that it will take a lot of time and then you will have to make holes again.

Installation of lock and door leaf

Choosing a lock today is not a difficult task, since the range of this product is very large. However, no matter which lock is chosen for installation on the interior door, certain rules must be taken into account. First of all manual mechanism The door lock is inserted into a special niche in the door leaf. In this case, you must make sure that all the holes are completely aligned, and only after that the lock should be screwed on. This must be done with the utmost care. But as for, at this stage there is no need to do this.

To install the door leaf, you must use a building level. With this process it is necessary to fill the gaps between the wall and the frame polyurethane foam. It is recommended to do this using a special gun, then it is possible to adjust the supply of foam, which will not allow the canvas to flood. After filling the gaps, you can attach the platbands.

The final stage is installation door handles, you must ensure that all parts are available. Particular attention should be paid to the presence of a special key, it is with its help that you can strengthen the handles and make a fastening for the door lock.

Considering all this, we can come to the conclusion that there is nothing difficult in installing interior doors with your own hands. It is necessary to strictly follow the rules, be careful and patient. Then there is no doubt that such work will be effective. And all this can be done in a short time.

The instructions for installing interior doors allow you to install such structures yourself without much difficulty. You just need to strictly follow its points.

We thank our partners for their help in creating this article: the factory for the production of interior doors Porta Prima - www.portaprima.ru

Door structures between rooms in an apartment or private house cannot be called very complex technical systems. However, their assembly and installation require knowledge of a number of nuances. Firstly, a door installed by yourself should not open spontaneously. Secondly, it must close without excessive effort. Third, door designs must have a certain strength and not fall to pieces in cases where they are installed in the homes of “lovers” of slamming doors.

Do-it-yourself installation of different types is carried out in several stages:

  1. Assembly of the load-bearing structural element - the box.
  2. Installation of the canvas, and then the box beam (a handle, hinges and other fittings are attached to it).
  3. Aligning the frame in the door and securing it securely.
  4. Hanging the canvas.
  5. Finishing doors with platbands.

Types of interior doors

A regular door block consists of two elements – the leaf and the frame. The latter is made of loop and false beams, as well as a lintel. If you install doors with a threshold, the frame is supplemented with a special bottom bar. In most cases, the door leaf is hung on two hinges. There are systems with three loops, but they are used extremely rarely. The set of door blocks, as a rule, includes platbands. If the manufacturer does not provide these, you will need to purchase them separately.

In situations where the door frame is smaller in width than the door opening, you need to purchase additional panels or trim the walls with strips or more elegant slopes from a design point of view. Here you need to know that professionals do not recommend plastering slopes if you are installing structures made of wood materials(for example, from MDF). Such doors simply become deformed after applying the plaster composition to them.

An excessively wide opening is often reduced with the help of wooden beam. Its dimensions should correspond to the "extra" width. Such a beam is installed from the side of the door pillar, where its hinges are located. The beam is attached to the rack with small cross-section universal screws, and it is connected to the wall with anchors. Installation interior designs It is recommended to do it yourself after pre-finishing the room (it assumes that you have leveled the walls, carefully and carefully putty them, and then plastered them).

Reducing a doorway using a wooden beam

In other words, the assembly and installation of doors is carried out after completion of all “wet” finishing work without exception.

Otherwise, there is a high probability that the system may “float” due to high humidity. You definitely need to arrange the subfloor, as well as decide on the thickness and type of finishing floor that you will make. Without this, you will not be able to accurately mount the door frame to the height of the threshold. If you simply decide to change the interior doors in a room where no repair work is being carried out, the latest recommendations do not matter.

It is very important to install the racks correctly. The door frame is attached to them. If you install it on crooked racks, the operational functionality of such a door will be minimal. The racks are prepared as follows:

  1. The upper parts of the racks must be cut using a hacksaw (it is better to take a saw with small teeth) and a miter box. This operation is easier to do if you have a miter saw.
  2. By inside measure the required length of the rack (it consists of the lower gap, the height of the door leaf and the upper gap). The bottom gap is usually taken to be about 1 cm, the top - no more than 0.4 cm. Prepare the second rack in the same way.
  3. Now you start processing the lintel. You measure desired length on the inside. The required length will include the width of the door leaf, a small (about 0.4 cm) gap on the side where you will put the lock on the door, and another gap on the hinge side. You get the length (internal) of the lintel. Note - absolutely accurate.

Installation of interior door posts

Now you can saw off the ends of the lintel with your own hands (again miter saw or a miter box). This procedure is done at an angle of 45°. Next we are engaged door hinges. Their installation should be done as carefully as possible. It is important to determine the exact depth of their depth and the distance between the lower and upper edges of the door leaf. The scheme of work is as follows:

  1. We measure a distance of 20 cm on the stand (along the inside) from the top edge.
  2. Apply the loop to the selected area, outline its outline (use a regular pencil).
  3. When folded, the loop leaves 0.4 cm of free space (gap) from the stand to the canvas. We calculate the installation depth of the fitting element, taking into account its thickness.
  4. Using a chisel (or better yet, a router) we make the area for the loop.
  5. Similarly, we determine the dimensions and installation location of the lower loop. But in this case, you need to add the value of the lower gap (1 cm) to 20 cm.
  6. Having installed the hinges on the stand, we apply this structure to the canvas and make marks about the areas where the hinges are located.
  7. All that remains to be done seats under the loop elements.

You have accomplished a difficult task on your own. Now you can deal with the box and platbands. More on this later.

Do-it-yourself door frame assembly and installation

Installing the box yourself will be quite simple if you adhere to the following order of work. You need:

  1. Attach (strictly perpendicular) to the ceiling using a stand. If you are installing an interior product made of MDF, in order to avoid cracking, you first need to make holes with a drill and only then install the screws. Important! The holes are made with a smaller cross-section than the diameter of the hardware used.
  2. Place the box in the opening, and then securely fix it using spacers and wedges.
  3. Take a building level and level it horizontally and vertical plane designs. After that, feel free to use self-tapping screws.
  4. Hang the door on its hinges. It can be inconvenient to perform this procedure on your own, so call an assistant. After hanging, check the quality of installation, eliminate any installation defects, if any.
  5. Close the interior door, install spacers of suitable sizes between the posts and the door leaf. They will save the box from squeezing out when blowing foam.

The last step is to fill the gap between the wall and the door frame. When the foam hardens, the spacers will need to be removed. You just have to install the platbands with your own hands. Everything is simple here - you cut a 45° angle and mount the elements in their place. It is recommended to fasten the installed platbands: with self-tapping screws; special nails (they are called finishing nails); on glue.

It is advisable to cover the tops of the screws with decorative plastic plugs. And the heads of the nails are usually rubbed down. Congratulations, you have installed interior doors. on our own, saving a lot of money on the services of specialists!
